Golden light glowed beyond the velvety darkness of her eyelids. The sun, maybe? Cassie, still trying to look like a dead body on the road, tried not to peek, but curiosity overwhelmed her in the end.

She opened her eyes a crack and saw the beautiful, bizarre creature who looked down at her. Her eyes shot fully open at this, wide with awe and surprise. “Oh,” she breathed. “What are…? Oh, are you, uh… God?” Maybe she was finally being punished for all her nonsense. That would make sense, really.

The rumbling motorcycle drew closer… and slowed to a stop. Cassie’s surprise soured to disappointment before she even glanced to see the rider. The strange maybe-God left her focus altogether for the moment.

Cassie groaned, less like a zombie and more like a teenager forced out of bed too early, and pressed the back of one hand over her eyes. “Oh, I’m fine. Peachy.” A drawl of pure sarcasm. “But you were s’posed to be terrified. You were s’posed to veer off the road and crash into a tree and die and stuff.” She looked the man’s direction only to shoo him away before resuming her dead body act (eyes closed, hands on her stomach, motionless aside from her last words). “Ride away and come back. Try again.”

It hadn’t been Cassie’s idea to leave the house. Clara knew how she felt about travelling with the Doctor, and yet still twisted her arm everytime the TARDIS materialized in the living room- and maybe Cas could’ve thrown a fit and firmly put her foot down this time (or maybe she couldn’t have - her very coding being dragging her towards that dreaded blue box to explore the cosmos), but still. Now they were alone, separated from the Doctor in an unidentified location, and she had told Clara this was going to happen; had told her this always happened, it always went so terribly wrong in the end-

“I can’t do this again- Ican’tIcan’tIcan’t-” she was spiralling, slid down a wall and on the precipice of a panic attack until Clara was suddenly sitting next to her, cutting through her thoughts with a simple:

Cas looked at her, eyes watering, “I can’t lose you.”

“Oh, I’m fasting, but I’m incredibly bored!!“ — so what I’m hearing is that you have nothing to do except eat? Or you eat when you’re bored..? Well, that needs to be fixed, but fear not, that will come with time. Keep fasting by the way, you’re doing great! So well in fact that I’ve actually compiled a list of things that you can do to keep yourself occupied!!

1. Make a playlist

2. Find some new music

3. Listen to music!

4. Take a shower

5. wash your hair

6. cut your hair?

7. dye your hair, even?

8. paint your nails

9. put on a perfume you barely wear

10. brush your teeth

11. put on some makeup

12. make a pinterest board of makeup looks and try them out!

14. lay outfits on your bed and take photos/write them down

15. make some “for when i’m skinny outfits” and take photos/write them down

It’s Mateo that finds your Instagram. It’s under the username BaywatchBitch and the profile picture is you and Robby dressed in tiny red shorts and a blue top just like the ones from the 2017 movie. You’re both even wearing the same pair of aviators that Zac Efron is on the marketing posters.

It’s from a New Year’s Eve costume party the caption reads when he locates the picture on your feed. One you both attended with the Abbots.

“It’s like they both have this secret life that nobody knows about.” He tells Cassie as they flick through the pictures studying them with an intensity they usually reserve for their work.

He swings into the security office, taking his time to review the betting board. The stakes are torn between you robbing him blind and killing him mid coitus. There’s still some debate as to whether it’ll be intentional or not.

It’s one from two days ago of you both on the beach in Ohio. You’re wearing a white lace dress with an orchid woven in your hair and he’s looking into your eyes, his lips curved up into a smile as he says I do.

Ye asked for angst, though. Here's some delicious angst:

TW: JJ, wing removal, brief mentions of anti-hybrid sentiments, mentions of trafficking/selling body parts

Tim's back constantly aches. It's been years, but he can still feel the harsh hacking into his shoulder blades as his wings were removed. He can't bring himself to look at the jagged lines in his back.

When Bart saw the then raised pink scars, his face morphed into grim understanding. With careful movements, he slowly got Robin used to pressure and hands on his back. It took months for every small step forward, but the speedster was patient. He was casual and never drew attention to the small gestures. He analyzed the subtle shifts in Tim's body and backed off without being asked.

The rest of YJ eventually caught on as well. When Tim was finally able to have people's palms upon his back, Kon, Cassie, and Cissie would bicker about scar tissue massages. Eventually, it became a team bonding activity to help others with their pain (whether through massages, offering heat/ice, or moral support).

When Tim gained a gnarly gash upon his throat, the same careful process occurred again.

YJ was broken up after Tim returned with a scar upon his abdomen, but Bart, Kon, and Cassie still helped with his healing process as he did for them. They supported each other through every scar, visible or not.

When Tim first got the scars, he spent a year teaching the muscles on his back how to work properly. He added exercises, stretches, compression, and heat packs to his daily routine. It was insanely difficult to research and experiment by himself, but he managed. By the time he offered himself up as Robin, he already had strong arm and back muscles. They weren't enough for Robin, but they worked.

While Tim was Robin, he took extra care not to get damaged on his back. He lied and hid any injuries he did obtain, often seeking out YJ for help instead (after they reach that point of trust). This process worked for years. There were a few close calls, but Tim has called Kon in extreme cases.

At first, Tim didn't want anyone near his back. He hid his scars from the batfam because of his trauma and his internalized anti-hybrid sentiments (he knew most of the Waynes were hybrids, but he also thought they would kick him out if they knew he was too. Just the horrid stuff his parents spouted and conditioned learning). Eventually, as he grew closer to YJ and more comfortable in his skin, he still hid from the Waynes.

He considered telling Dick a bunch of times, but everyone else didn't foster a relationship with him where he felt comfortable. Cass knew, but she also isn't a hybrid.

There's a ton of factors in play for why Tim never told them.

When Tim gets fired from Robin, it's agonizing. He created fake wings just to maintain that role.

In his desolation, he comes to the realization that he can change his wings. Instead of the bird ones Robin has always had (at least until Damian [which is another point of contention]), Tim can have back his dragon ones. They'll be fake, but some part of him aches to have wings resembling his old ones.

Dragon wings are rare, and this causes some tension between Tim and his family when he returns. Out of all the wings he chose to fashion, why did he choose the rare, highly sought-after ones? To their knowledge, he isn't even a hybrid. They trust Tim, obviously, but him choosing dragon wings doesn't help their already strained relationships with him.

Jason especially, as someone whose had to take down a fuck ton of hybrid trafficking rings or underground selling of hybrid parts, has issues with Tim choosing dragon wings.

To prove a point, Jason chats about a pair of dragon wings that keeps getting sold around the black market. It's been years of Red Hood chasing these wings down to try to stop them from being passed around. He wants to honor them by giving them a proper burial.

One of the reasons Jason is so hung up about them is that they are so so small. They obviously came from a child.

Tim turns pale. Jason thinks that Tim finally realizes the error in his ways until the teen asks Jason to describe them.

Hood is pissed as fuck that Tim wants descriptions of the wings and initially misunderstands.

Then he notes the way Tim's arms stop in an aborted movement to wrap around himself. He catches the paleness to his face, the trembling of lips, and the hunted look in his eyes.

Jason hesitantly answers.

Tim collapses to his knees and throws up.

No one else in the family was there for this interaction. However, they see the effects.

Jason no longer berates Tim (particularly about the dragon wings).

Joker, the next time he escapes, loses a leg.

Jason and Tim hang out more with the older being more affectionate and mother henning.

He was certain not all the workers would want to stay amids the chaos, not everyone valued money over their life.

AFTER THE ANONYMOUS ANNOUNCEMENT - OR SOME may call it a threat, all Cassie wanted to do was leave and go home to her son. She hadn't even been 100% sure about attending the event in the first place, and perhaps she should have listened to her gut. She should have known, after growing up in Tonopah Valley, nothing stayed untouched for long. Cassie was no stranger to the dark underbelly of her hometown, especially being so close to the Sons of Silence, but that didn't make the threat any easier to swallow.

I feel cassie cage(my hc version which IS NOT RELATED TO SONYA BLADE AND IS JUST JOHNNY CAGES DAUGHTER FROM HIS PREVIOUS MARRIAGE WITH HIS ACTUAL EX) is definitely queer. Lesbian or sapphic of some sort. But she i also hc kinda followed her dad but instead of pursuing acting she did martial arts and mma fighting. Basically if jc didn't continue with acting and went FULL IN with his martial arts.

Speaking of which. I hc sonya blade is a straight up lesbian. Same with sheeva.

Kitana and mileena is bi. (Mileena i thought was canonly bi,so NO BI ERASURE IN THIS HOUSE!) but kitana is too focused on saving her home to worry about dating. Mileena however.....doesn't care she'll do both if she chooses.

Jade is technically in a relationship with kotal. Buuuuut it's rocky and jade is loyal despite her wanting to beat tf outta her racist husband.

Johnny cage has a good heart and sometimes is a goofball during kombat to "lighten" the situation. He jokes as a coping mechanism and to ease his anxiety. He can get serious if necessary. But nobody knows if he is serious or not. But thats why he's a great actor. The only thing that sets himself back is well....himself. and once he got over that. He was good. The only reason why Johnny cage would NEVER take the title of mk champion is because it means nothing to him. He's already a award winning actor,good or bad he loves doing movies. He's good at what he does best....entertainment. but he's genuinely a good martial artist and i hate when they make him stupid for plot or overly flirty. It feels weird even for him. Linden ashby from the 1995 mortal kombat movie did such a phenomenal job at balancing this! So Johnny cage fans....plz watch the og and see what i mean.

Cocktail Recipe: Tenzin Mercar

With blackcurrant (or blackberry) to reflect the forest setting of a Dalish origin, this cocktail is warm and sunny, with notes of bright lemon and earthy tea.

1-1/2 oz (45ml) Aged rum (not spiced) (I used Planteray 5 year)

1-1/2oz (45ml) Strongly-brewed black tea (like steeped twice as long as usual)

3/4oz (22ml) Fresh lemon juice

1oz (30ml) Creme de Cassis or blackberry syrup*

1 dash Angostura bitters

If you have a more tart-favoring palate, you can cut the Cassis/Blackberry down to 3/4oz.

*To make blackberry syrup: Combine equal parts (by volume) water, granulated sugar, and blackberries (fresh or frozen). Heat until sugar fully dissolves, then let cool. Strain through a mesh strainer. If well-sealed, keeps for a few weeks in the fridge.

Combine all in a cocktail shaker with ice.

Shake until well chilled.

Strain into a chilled coupe glass.
