"Oh, before I forget, I brought over a little something I made, hope you ladies enjoy it." Nate offers a box to Cassie since she was sitting beside him and Rhea is still uncertain of him.

Surprised, Cassie takes the box to open it. "Well thank you, Mr. Grady." She returns politely before she opens the box.

"Oh, that smells amazing, what is it?" Mara asks from her chair, the slightly still warm tart's scent filling the room almost as soon as the box is open.

"Fig and Walnut tart. And please, just call me Nate. Mr. Grady was my father." Nate answers with a smile over at the woman who he hopes wears sunscreen if she's going to spend a lot of time outside.

Cassie is less than pleased though. She hates it. Hates everything about the tart because Figs and Walnuts are both things she hates. Not to mention she thinks it's rude to bring something with nuts when you don't even know if people might have allergies!

"Yes. Well. It's the thought that counts, Mr. Grady." Cassie says in a tense voice. "I'm sure we'll be fine." Before she turns to put the tart in the kitchen and go stomp on some grapes.

Well well well! Of course Sage was already at the nightclub, dancing her heart out!

Cassie was also there, as part of the club, so of course Rapunzel had to say hi!

Ariel was also there?? Sage was just trying not to watch her dance moves.

et Karim. Unsure how he managed to do that, cause he was just standing there laughing half-heartedly the whole time.

Woah woah woah, what?!?!!?

Ok, apparently this red-haired guy was bullying somebody?? Totally missed that!!

Sage remained completely unbothered by Rapunzel yelling at the bully through her. Nothing had ever fazed Sage, and that wasn't going to change now.

It seemed Karim wasn't easily fazed either, as he simply did not react to the bully screaming in his face.

Anyway, great catch, Rapunzel! I still have no clue what happened!

In all the commotion, the benevolent god had once again forgotten Rapunzel's birthday!! So they quickly downloaded a cake for her to throw some candles on.

I know, I know! I'm trying!!

Thanks to the invite, Rapunzel had a whole club of people cheering on her existence!! Finally, she could really feel the love!

Cassie seemed a bit confused by the whole thing, as she mangled the words to Hople Borfna.

And Karim just stood off to the side and threw a single handful of confetti.

On the other hand, despite having attended 20+ birthdays, Sage was still super pumped to have accidentally been included!

But the person who (for once) stuck by Rapunzel's side the entire time was Ariel!

Happy adult birthday, Rapunzel! Time is going way too fast, and your momma is so suspicious of you.

Awww! Thanks, Arista! You probably would've been Rapunzel's favorite aunt.

While Rapunzel kept the party going with all her new friends, Karim introduced himself to his girlfriend's mother, and got a little closer to her sister.

OH?!?!?!!?!

The person Karim had chosen to ask for the marriage blessing was Rapunzel's younger sister, Cassie.

Judging by Karim's reaction, she gave him her blessing!

Azriel and Cassian have secretly been taking each other as lovers for weeks. They want to tell Rhys, but he's just been so grouchy lately...

Chapter One.

Night fell on the House of Wind and Rhys was still in his study. Cassian and Azriel sat next to each other in front of the magnificent floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the city below. The nightlife of Velaris was beginning to wake, lanterns lighting and the streets starting to crowd.

Cassian swirled the auburn whiskey in his glass, perfectly content with staying here in comfortable silence next to Azriel for the rest of the night, enjoying the company of one another until someone eventually retired to bed. But something was nagging at him.

Rhys had seemed so tired lately. Distant. His usual lively violet eyes fading into a dull plum. Still beautiful, but not so distinctly him. He had tried gently pressing the issue, asking Rhys with a light touch on the shoulder if there was anything he can do to help, but all he got was the grumbled out "I’m fine", and, "Stop being a mother hen."

"I’ll stop being a mother hen as soon as your complexion stops resembling that of an egg," he had told him, earning a pinch on his wing.

He glanced from the light glowing underneath the door to Rhysand’s study and back to Azriel’s casually neutral face, moonlight accentuating the peaks and dips of his cheekbones and jaw as he took a sip of his drink and watched the partygoers below.

“You’re staring,” Azriel grumbled, eyes still fixed downwards.

“You’re drinking very loudly,” he lied easily, watching a blush creep up Azriel’s neck, a pretty pale pink for a male who spends most of his life in the darkness of shadow.

He sharply turned in his seat. “I am not.”

Cassian flashes him a shit-eating grin, all gleaming white and pointed canines. “You are. You just couldn’t hear it over your own incessant gulping.”

“Your breathing is incessant.”

They stared at each other for a long moment wearing equal smirks, eyes narrowing in challenge. Perhaps they were both just tipsy enough to start a sparring match in the common area. As he contemplated his takedown, Cassian began to feel the full weight of Azriel’s stare, heavy like something was pushing down on his shoulders to keep him firmly planted in his seat. He squirmed.

Azriel’s lip quirked slightly in a smug grin, finally pulling away his gaze and shooting down the rest of his whiskey in one swallow. Cassian’s body began to feel lighter now that he was no longer under the weight of his brother’s sharp observation. But that lingering unease was still there, unable to be ignored for much longer. “Have you noticed the ..” he began, unsure of how to voice his concern over Rhys but knowing it was too late to take it back, “the weariness?”

Cassian was grateful that Azriel’s posture seemed to slacken in recognition. “Leadership is weary business,” Azriel said, resuming his survey of the city below, slowly turning his now empty glass on the armrest.

“This is different.”

Azriel thought for a moment. “Yes.”

“Should we d-” Rhys emerged from the study, starlight bathing him and soaking into his freshly combed hair. He was dressed well, in all black, with a fine jacket that helped accentuate his trim waist and powerful arms. The dark circles were still clinging to his eyes and his face was still an unusual pale, but his violet irises shone a little brighter. Hopeful.

“I’m going to Rita’s,” he said plainly, and yes, he did sound a bit chipper. Strange.

He was already halfway to the door before Cassian stood. “Let me grab my coat. I’ll go with you.”

Rhys stopped, turning to his brothers with a cautious smile that looked more like a grimace. “Don’t get your coat, Cassian.”

“Oh, is it warm tonight? I could just go in this,” he said, gesturing to his 'float like a bat. sting like a bat.' t-shirt.

Rhys’ face grew even more pained. Azriel stood and made his way over to Cassian, studying Rhysand’s face and clothing as he drew nearer. “He’s meeting someone,” he said bluntly.

That confused Cassian even more. “Well, then, we will both go with you,” he offered, waving a hand between himself and Azriel. “We should be present for Night Court business.”

“Cas-” Rhysand began, and for the first time in a long while, the High Lord of the Night Court seemed to be actively searching for the right words.

“He’s meeting someone,” Az said again, commanding Cassian’s attention.

Cassian stood perplexed for several moments. How could Rhys be so low energy, moping around for weeks and then suddenly want to meet someone at Rita’s? What changed? And, more importantly, who is this person? He’d been trying to get Rhys to go out somewhere, anywhere, with him to get his spirits back up, but he always said no. Was it him? Did he want to get away from him?

“Oh!” he said, connecting the dots, “Oh.” He plastered on a smile that didn’t even feel the slightest bit convincing. Rhys echoed it, anyway.

Azriel clapped a hand on Cas’ shoulder and led him back to the adjacent chairs overlooking the city, sitting him down and grabbing the bottle of whiskey to refill their glasses. As Azriel began pouring into his glass, Cassian called out to Rhys who was now almost too quietly trying to exit the house. “Enjoy yourself, Rhysie,” he mused.

Rhys rolled his eyes and the door clicked shut behind him.

Azriel resumed his place next to Cassian, liquor and emotions both renewed. Cassian turned to him once more, extending his glass like he was about to make a mocking toast until he saw that look on Azriel’s face. Quiet brooding. Always planning. Always assessing. “We’re going to follow him, aren’t we?”

Azriel stifled a smirk and clinked their glasses.

Not necessarily about the kids, but how do the parents balance out all their families? We have Errink and Drink for example, how does Ink manage them?

Each character has their own way of raising and "raising" their children.

In summary. They manage to take care of them without much complication, others help each other, and others prefer to evade responsibility and leave them forgotten.

Ink takes care of Paper Jam, Gradient, Spilled and Ekon. He also often visits Palette, Blueprint, and Bluescreen.

Dream takes care of Palette, Shine and Shade. Along with Cross takes care of Lux, Starcross and Hope.

Cross usually takes care of the three of them, but apart from that, he can pay the attention that Ink doesn't give to Moku. Together with Epic takes care of Starke.

Swap will take care of Blueprint, Splatter, and Sprinkle alongside Papyrus and Asgore. He will occasionally go to Outertale to say hello to Starway.

Outer takes care of Starway most of the time. And he takes care of Deneb together with Science Sans.

Reaper and Geno take care of Goth, Raven, Sorell, Silver, and Shino without a problem. Cassis often spends time with the five of them as well.

Fell and Classic Sans take turns taking care of Plum and Dedge, despite the latter being Dust's son.

Dust takes care of Kenza. From time to time he takes turns with Swap to take care of Sprinkle. And Horror helps him with Okse and Glasses.

Finally, Killer is in charge of raising Crescent, Angst and Merciless. Nightmare only trains them to serve as his weapons. Horror and Dust are their "uncles" and are also in charge of them when the other two are not around.

Nightmare, Error and Fresh don't care about children. Nightmare just takes advantage of them. Error tolerates them, but he would rather destroy them than take care of them. Fresh is a liar parasite.

As for Lust... We are not talking about Lust. Please keep the children away from him, as far away as possible...

Radier, Tenpatch raised themselves alones. They spent their childhood together with Nightmare until they were old enough to take care of themselves. They sometimes visit Error.

Those are the entire list for now. It is probable that in the future I will make comics about the childhood of each child, for now there are advances on my AO3 account. I'm still thinking about adding Rurik, but I don't have enough information about him. Only he was raised in Underfell by Fell Ink.

None of the children and parents belong to me, they all belong to their respective authors.

In which Cassie rambles about books...

I have accepted that i'm not going to complete all the reading challenges I've signed up for this year.

I've dropped my main reading goal from 100 to 85 - I was ahead of schedule until I fell into tennis fandom then read hardly anything in August & September and was far too behind my goal to catch up.

So I'm focusing on the challenges I have least books left to read. The first one of those was the Always Fully Booked 2024 'Genre' challenge which I had just one prompt left to finish - Poetry.

Now, in general, I don't like poetry. It doesn't work as a genre for me, i know all the reasons but they're not important. There are however a few books from my childhood (that I still own) that filled the prompt and I went for Please Mrs Butler by Allan Ahlberg. Incidentally, most of the poetry I liked from when I was young was by Allan Ahlberg (Funnybones, Each Peach Pear Plum, The Jolly Postman - all of which I can basically recite without even needing the book)

It still gets a good 4 out of 5 from me. It makes me smile and gives some fond memories of being in primary school. My favourite verses are still Please Mrs Butler and The Headmasters Hymn (and yeah, I can pretty much recite both of those from memory as well)

Next up: I want to finish Lemon Meringue Pie Murder by Joanne Fluke and Icebreaker by Hannah Grace. Next up for reading challenges we have Diary Of A Young Girl by Anne Frank (which covers prompts in 4 different challenges) and Legends and Lattes by Travis Baldree (I'm super nervous, I've been wanting to read it for years at this point - and it finishes the Always Fully Booked 2024 'Reading the Rainbow' challenge by filling the 'pattern' prompt)

Turns out the house is now home to four ladies. Nate's quite overwhelmed at first, since they're all very beautiful, in his opinion. All very different. But still friendly and he is trying to be a good neighbor.

Rhea is the one that seems less than impressed with him showing up out of the blue.

"You expect us to believe you just came over to introduce yourself?" Rhea rolls her eyes. She's from San Myshuno originally, where this isn't really a thing.

Nate just smiles, he's traveled, he knows that Chestnut Ridge manners aren't what everyone is used to. "Yes, Ms. Mora. That's exactly it. We don't have the services out here you might be used to and community is important to us. I grew up here, but I spent a lot of time traveling before coming home. It just emphasized how important community is. I just wanted you to know if you need help, I'm just down the road."

Across from him, Mara and Taryn exchange a look. If all the men around here are like their new neighbor, they're really going to enjoy their new home.

Located in the commune of Bourg, in the heart of the Côtes de Bourg region, whose wine-growing vocation dates back to Antiquity, our 9-hectare vineyard benefits from the specific microclimate generated by the Gironde estuary, giving the appellation's hillsides a significant advantage over other Bordeaux vintages: greater solar radiation, less extreme temperatures, and less rainfall. Planted on the slopes, near the banks of the Dordogne, our vines also enjoy ideal exposure for the ripening of the grapes, while the clay-limestone soil provides freshness and drainage. It includes the traditional Bordeaux grape varieties: Merlot (43%), Malbec (27%), Cabernet Sauvignon (24%) and Cabernet Franc (6%). The blend of these grape varieties produces a fruity, delicious and balanced wine.

Situé sur la commune de Bourg, au cœur de la région des côtes de Bourg, dont la vocation viticole remonte à l’Antiquité, notre vignoble de 9 hectares bénéficie du microclimat spécifique généré par l’estuaire de la Gironde, conférant aux coteaux de l’appellation un avantage non négligeable sur les autres crus bordelais : un rayonnement solaire supérieur, des températures moins extrêmes, une pluviosité moins importante. Plantées en côte, près des rives de la Dordogne, nos vignes jouissent par ailleurs d’une exposition idéale pour la maturation des raisins, tandis que le sol argilo-calcaire apporte fraîcheur et drainage. On y retrouve les cépages traditionnels bordelais : le merlot (43 %), le malbec (27 %), le cabernet sauvignon (24 %) et le cabernet franc (6 %). L’assemblage de ces cépages permet d’obtenir un vin fruité, gourmand et équilibré.

2012 Seña

So this is very nice Bordeaux blend from a Chilean winery founded by Robert Mondavi and Eduardo Chadwick. Loads of Bordeaux notes - cassis, plums, fresh leather, cherries, and a hint of nutmeg on the nose. Cassis, dark cherries, and plums on the palate with lovely sweet spices to round it out.
