National Frappe Day
Enjoy a delicious, frozen frappe, share with others, see what businesses are offering free frappes, and pay it forward for someone else to enjoy.
Frappes offer a great opportunity to get that coffeehouse feeling without having to leave home or spend a lot of money. Here’s an easy way to make a delicious drink at home in honor of Frappe Day:
Start with a cup of brewed coffee that has been allowed to cool. To that, add a cup of cold milk and two cups of ice. Blend together and then flavor in whatever way is preferred, whether using caramel sauce, mint syrup, chocolate sauce, or another delicious type of flavoring. Honey and maple syrup are two perfectly natural ways to add sweetness and flavor without a bunch of preservatives.

History of Frappe Day
A hallmark of Greek coffee culture from the 1950s onwards, the humbly delicious frappe has earned a yearly celebration. The frappe is distinguished by being one of the few beverages improved by the use of instant coffee! (Yes, it’s shocking, but keep reading.)
Supposedly, the frappe was created by a tired Nestle sales representative at the Thessaloniki Trade Fair in 1957 who was beset by caffeine cravings. It’s often said that creativity flourishes in the face of restraint, and so it was when this beleaguered man couldn’t find access to any hot water to make his instant coffee. So he took some of his instant coffee, put it with cold water and ice, and shook his way to what would eventually become an internationally enjoyed drink.
Of course, from there, versions of the drink were modified to include cream, sugar, flavorings, or sometimes even ice cream. Nowadays, they are also often blended in a blender, but the idea is the same. No matter how it is made, Frappes are delicious!
Although it started out as an accident because the inventor couldn’t access hot water, the Frappe froth actually has a surprising amount of science behind it. Spray-dried instant coffee and its lower oil content are the key to creating long-lasting bubbles. Freeze-dried instant coffee won’t cut it. The next time someone wants to complain that they can’t get a good coffee anywhere in the country, they might just be right. Perhaps they’ll need to head over to Greece, where the Frappe is the official national coffee drink!

Enjoy a Frappe Today
Hop over to a local cafe and grab an amazing and delicious Frappe. Whether in the morning to start the day, or in the afternoon as an energetic pick-me-up, an iced frappe can be appreciated just about any time of the day.
Starbucks has its signature Frappuccino on offer, which is a blended or iced version of the frappe drink, but taken to the extreme. One of these drinks is hardly like drinking a coffee at all and, instead, is more like drinking a dessert with a straw! In fact, some of them don’t even include coffee in them.
The options for flavors are virtually endless, including fun names like Caramel Ribbon Crunch, Mocha Cookie Crumble, Strawberry Funnel Cake or Matcha Green Tea Creme. No matter which flavor is chosen, it’s most likely going to be delicious.

Find someone you love (or just generally like) and gift them with an iced coffee drink on Frappe Day! Whether it’s picking one up for the person in the next cubicle at work or bringing one home to your significant other, Frappe Day is a great way to tell someone else that they are appreciated and thought of.
Get a Free (or Discounted) Coffee Drink
As with many other foodie days, Frappe Day is a time when some companies choose to celebrate by giving away free stuff! And on this day, many people can score themselves a free cup of coffee. It changes every year, but here’s a list of some of the restaurants that have offered free coffee drinks on Frappe Days (or just regular days) in the past. Check them out to see what kind of promos they have going:
McDonald’s. At one point, this most famous of fast food restaurants had a deal “buy one, get one for $.01” for those who downloaded the McCafe app around Frappe Day. At other times, they have been known to offer a free coffee after the purchase of five.
Dunkin’ Donuts. Known the world around for their coffee, Dunkin’ has a perks program that offers a free coffee for those who register with them.
Starbucks. In some locations of this coffee chain, customers can get a discount during the week of Frappe Day, especially if it falls on a Thursday! That’s because Thursday is Happy Hour Day, which means between 2pm and 7pm, coffee drinks are BOGO (buy one get one free) on select Thursday. Check the Starbucks app or local store for details.
Choose to “Pay It Forward”
Get generous on Frappe Day and cover the cost of the coffee order of the person who is just behind in line at the drive-through coffee shop. It will make them have a much better day, reminding them that the world isn’t such a bad place after all!

Thinking about how the foodie au has several categories of characters.
Like for instance, there's at least three Draxum made turtles (Slushie, Peppermint, Blackberry)
Then we have all the itty bitties. (Mellow, Gram, Toffee, Peppermint, etc.)
At least three ocean goers (Mellow, Gram, Chips).
The non-turtles (Cowtail, Caramel, Bluecrop Blueberry, Ichigo Miruku, Cotton Candy, and Cocoa who is not yet official).
Also, the Big Mama employees, of course. (Caramel, Milkshake, Waffle-ish, Kiwi, Chips, Muffin, Slushie, etc.)
Plus there are several that share colors or have similar types of foods for names. There are a lot of fruit/berries, for instance.
There's probably more, but that's all I can think of at the moment.

⌗ low fat milk (35cal/100ml) and coffee jelly (0cal): 5g gelatin, 5g instant coffee, sweetener and 250ml water. mix and refrigerate, then cut into cubes and add the jelly to a bowl of milk
⌗ cinnamon banana ice cream (~165cal): 1 banana, 100ml no sugar almond milk, cinnamon, vanilla extract, ice. blend everything together and freeze
⌗ ice cream/sorbet (0cal): ice cubes, water, zero calorie salted caramel syrup. blend and freeze

lactonics have risen in popularity amongst the gourmands. they're creamy, smooth and comforting with a slight savory undertone that makes them more interesting than your standard cakey vanilla.
lactonics are deceptively simple. you would think all you need is a milk note right? well no! a perfume can smell milky and lactonic with no milk or milk adjacent notes at all. sandalwood is known for its creamy skinlike scent at times. tonka bean can also add a warm milky note when combined with vanilla.
overall, this subcategory of gourmand is an interesting one. sometimes it edges just towards animalic, and in many ways is a more evocative and erotic gourmand. here's some of the best ones to get your nose on.

an og, diesel plus plus feminine is a sort of metallic "cool girl" lactonic. there's a soapiness to it and it has a coconut milk sort of creaminess. as it dries down it becomes more lactonic.

one of the newest in the trend, this is a very smooth lactonic for a great price. personally, i think the lotion version of this is much better. it's a cool refreshing glass of milk with a slight earthiness because of the oat note. the lotion and mist would honestly layer well under most of these scents and theyre a great price.

montblanc signature is a lactonic is a orange creamsicle way. its heavy on the vanilla and is overall a very beautiful scent.

signorina misteriosa is like a blackberry milkshake. it's girlish and sweet and the milk mousse keeps its whipped and fluffy.

Australian Café
Despite not losing any love over coffee myself, I seem to have picked up quite a bit about the different ways to consume it. Long gone are the days when everyone only had a couple of options. Instead of being asked “Black or white? With or without sugar?”, ordering a drink at a café almost feels like an interrogation!
To make it easier on yourself and the hospitality staff (who also don’t like the amount of questions they are forced to ask) do everyone a favour by figuring out exactly what you want before getting to the counter.
Step One: Size
Easy, right? Wrong! Every café has different sized coffee cups, with different names, and different prices. Typically, there’ll be three sizes along the lines of small, medium, and large. However, this is sometimes changed up for regular, large, and jumbo, or any combination of the above. Another fun fact is that despite using the glorious metric system for everything else - suppliers advertise their takeaway cups in terms of ounces (oz) - so please forgive me following their example:
6oz to 8oz - small/regular - one shot of coffee
10oz to 12oz - medium/regular/large - two shots of coffee
16oz - large/jumbo - 3 shots of coffee
This isn’t even counting sizes for milkshakes and other cold drinks, though typically they will be around 16oz, you need to check whatever display the café has.
Step Two: Type of Beverage
This step is slightly easier. Decide if you’d like a hot or cold beverage, and if you want coffee in that beverage! For the purposes of this, we’ll say you decided to have a hot coffee - there’s so many options to choose from:
Ristretto - the first 10-15ml of a shot of coffee
Espresso/Short Black - one full shot of coffee
Macchiato - an espresso shot with a small dash of hot, frothy milk
Piccolo - a ristretto shot topped up with hot, frothy milk (basically a tiny latte)
Long Black - hot water topped with coffee (usually two shots)
Flat White - espresso topped with hot milk (little to no froth)
Latte - espresso topped with hot, frothy milk (medium froth)
Mocha - latte with a spoonful of chocolate mixed with the coffee, topped with chocolate powder
Dirty Chai - chai latte with a coffee shot, often topped with cinnamon/chai powder
Cappuccino - espresso with hot, frothy milk (very frothy), topped with chocolate powder
Step Three: Milk
You can skip right on down to the next step if you want a black coffee! If not, strap in…
There are many different kinds of milk nowadays. There’s the classic cows milk (either full cream, skim, or light), soy, almond, oat, and the list goes on. Some hip cafés may also stock coconut or macadamia milk too.
Personally, my go to is full cream milk in my hot chocolates - but I’ve had almond milk on occasion which brings out the nuttiness, and I have a friend who swears by oat milk. I have also enjoyed soy milk in chai lattes to mellow out the flavour.
I can’t recommend any milks to go with coffee, but baristas are usually pretty happy to talk about the pros and cons of different ones (if there’s not a massive line behind you at least).
Step Four (optional): Additives
Sweet syrupy sweeteners. Say that five times really fast.
To round out the coffee ordering experience is ordering any additives to the drink. Whether it be sugar, an artificial sweetener (like equal or stevia), or a syrup - there’s something for most people at a café. The most popular syrups you’ll find in Australian cafés are vanilla, caramel, and hazelnut. There are plenty of other syrups and additives around too.
So now when you’re asked what coffee you want to order at a café, run through these steps to make it easier on yourself and your overworked barista. The most important thing to remember is that every café is different, but they will have a sign, board, or display letting you know what sizes, prices, milks, and additives they have to sell.
Be kind to hospitality workers, and be safe when sipping hot drinks!

Frappes offer a great opportunity to get that coffeehouse feeling without having to leave home or spend a lot of money. Here’s an easy way to make a delicious drink at home in honor of Frappe Day:
Start with a cup of brewed coffee that has been allowed to cool. To that, add a cup of cold milk and two cups of ice. Blend together and then flavor in whatever way is preferred, whether using caramel sauce, mint syrup, chocolate sauce, or another delicious type of flavoring. Honey and maple syrup are two perfectly natural ways to add sweetness and flavor without a bunch of preservatives.

History of Frappe Day
A hallmark of Greek coffee culture from the 1950s onwards, the humbly delicious frappe has earned a yearly celebration. The frappe is distinguished by being one of the few beverages improved by the use of instant coffee! (Yes, it’s shocking, but keep reading.)
Supposedly, the frappe was created by a tired Nestle sales representative at the Thessaloniki Trade Fair in 1957 who was beset by caffeine cravings. It’s often said that creativity flourishes in the face of restraint, and so it was when this beleaguered man couldn’t find access to any hot water to make his instant coffee. So he took some of his instant coffee, put it with cold water and ice, and shook his way to what would eventually become an internationally enjoyed drink.
Of course, from there, versions of the drink were modified to include cream, sugar, flavorings, or sometimes even ice cream. Nowadays, they are also often blended in a blender, but the idea is the same. No matter how it is made, Frappes are delicious!
Although it started out as an accident because the inventor couldn’t access hot water, the Frappe froth actually has a surprising amount of science behind it. Spray-dried instant coffee and its lower oil content are the key to creating long-lasting bubbles. Freeze-dried instant coffee won’t cut it. The next time someone wants to complain that they can’t get a good coffee anywhere in the country, they might just be right. Perhaps they’ll need to head over to Greece, where the Frappe is the official national coffee drink!

McDonald’s. At one point, this most famous of fast food restaurants had a deal “buy one, get one for $.01” for those who downloaded the McCafe app around Frappe Day. At other times, they have been known to offer a free coffee after the purchase of five.
Dunkin’ Donuts. Known the world around for their coffee, Dunkin’ has a perks program that offers a free coffee for those who register with them.
Starbucks. In some locations of this coffee chain, customers can get a discount during the week of Frappe Day, especially if it falls on a Thursday! That’s because Thursday is Happy Hour Day, which means between 2pm and 7pm, coffee drinks are BOGO (buy one get one free) on select Thursday. Check the Starbucks app or local store for details.
Choose to “Pay It Forward”

Archie is vanilla. We know this. He is the standard. The generic. The old reliable. He's widely, almost universally, enjoyed. This is not an insult. In a world filled with dubious hybrids and ultra-manufactured pints with cavity-inducing, sense-numbing flavors, he dares to be the lone safe choice.
Veronica prides herself on being different. Not in the same way Jughead does (insert hat quote here,) but in a sense that she wants us to think is both incredibly capable and nuanced. haha I finally received stickers i ordered from bunypark's rb of Stan, Kyle, Kenny, and Butters as animals the other day so this feels appropriate! That being said, because of that I won't do those four... gonna do Craig's gang instead 👀
As much as I think Craig would want his fursona to be a guinea pig, I'm sorry but he's definitely got the energy of a city pigeon. He does not give a shit about what other people are trying to get him to do, he's just going to do his own thing. Tweek is for sure a deer or maybe a horse. Skittish as all hell, but can absolutely go buckwild and cause some damage, especially if spooked (very wonderful to be with if you earn his trust though). Tolkien gives me cat vibes in a way? Not the traditional idea of cats but more in the sense that I think he's a good comforting presence when people need him but he's also good at establishing his own boundaries and not giving too much. I think cats are like that too. Clyde is a cow. Mostly because I often hear people refer to cows as "moo dogs" and Clyde does have dog energy but... more. Bigger. Therefore: cow (also a nod to him having jock energy-- go south park cows!). Last but certainly not least is Jimmy! I think he's like a dolphin: fun, clever, beloved by many, and canonically fucks.

I'm not sure if this should be alcoholic or non alcoholic drinks... anyway time to talk about a bunch of my favorites <3
Christophe is red wine, but I'm going to deviate slightly from the cliche by specifying that he is red wine from a Mickey Mart. It's hard to explain why I think it's so good because it's so attached to personal memories. Same with Christophe. Damien next and we're going alcoholic again because he's literally any flavor of MD 20/20. Looks cheap as hell (seeing as he's from an earlier season), very cool if you're edgy and in high school, will most certainly fuck you up. Going nonalcoholic, I think Kenny is like a milkshake! People are always mixing him up in everything, making so many different versions of him and they're all amazing, even if they get very insane sometimes. Also if you make content with him in it, it will likely bring me to your yard. To spotlight another one of my favorite blondes, Bebe is lemonade! She can be both sour and sweet, enhanced when made pink (gay), and I am refreshed every time I see her. Lastly, to get another girl up in here, Red! Red is a caramel frappe from Starbucks because she might seem basic to the outside observer, but those with taste know she’s one of the best. Also if someone is drinking a frappe out in the cold (aka Colorado mountain town weather) they’re definitely gay and Red is gay.

Personalities- Carpo is more analytical and unapologetically blunt. Auxo is generally upbeat, personable, & assertive while Thallo is creative, vivacious, and effervescent. The trio has an unbreakable sister bond. They're currently single.
The sisters' main address is their house that they all live in located in the Hearthwood neighborhood of New Olympus. They also have a vacation home in Athens & a cottage estate (with their own farm) in Eleusis. They all share a large number of pets including dogs, cats, pigs, hamsters, rabbits, guinea pigs, sheep, cows, & horses.
At the main house, their bedrooms have a specific aesthetic- Thallo's room is painted in vibrant shades of green and there's a major flower motif with floral designs on her bedding & curtains and fresh potted plants everywhere.
Auxo's room is painted in shades of cream, peach, orange, and yellow. Aside from her fluffy bed with linen sheets, there's also a hammock and wick furniture pieces. There's a mini-fridge that holds all of her favorite frozen treats & her personal slushie machine.
Carpo's room has a continuous cool breeze blowing. The walls are painted in shades of burgundy, chocolate brown, & burnt orange. Scented candles and incense sticks decorate her vanity and windowsills & there's quite a few knitted rugs and throw blankets.
The sisters' mother is Pherusa (goddess of substance & farm estates). They all share a close bond. When their mom visits, they all look forward to her baked mac n' cheese, cornbread, and fried chicken.
Both Thallo & Auxo share the ability of photokinesis and all of them share the ability of limited aerokinesis.
Being the goddess of spring & growth, Thallo's abilities include making flowers grow, pollen manipulation, conjuring springtime produce (fruits & vegetables), wood manipulation (dendrokinesis), & being able to create rain showers.
As the goddess of summer & vegetation, Auxo's abilities include being innately stronger during the summer season (and hot sunny days), calokinesis (heat manipulation), limited pyrokinesis (her fire burns a bright orange-yellow), manipulating the growth of plants & vegetables, conjuring summer produce, and invisibility.
As the goddess of autumn & fruits, Carpo's abilities include being innately stronger on windy cooler days, color-shifting, controlling vitamins found in fruit, turning leaves brown, and conjuring autumnal produce (fruits & vegetables).
Thallo's go-to drink is a homemade cucumber & pear juice. She also likes ginger ale and green tea sangrias.
Auxo loves peach martinis, flirtinis, piña coladas and olympian sized pineapple lychee splashes from The Roasted Bean.
Carpo prefers hibiscus tea, apple cider mimosas, iced tea, large cinnamon lattes from The Roasted Bean, & olympian sized pumpkin pie milkshakes from The Frozen Spoon.
They all like the olympian sized caramel lattes, large iced green teas, and large strawberry iced teas from The Roasted Bean.
Carpo makes the best pumpkin spice bread while Auxo is known for her lemon meringue pie!
In the pantheon they admire Demeter (goddess of the harvest & agriculture), Hestia (goddess of the hearth), Livádi (goddess of meadows), Karme (demi-goddess of the harvest), Eunostos (goddess of the flour mill), & Promylaia. They all love Eunostsos' delicious beignets!
Thallo used to have a crush on Pan (god of the wild, satyrs, shepherds, & rustic music) while Carpo used to have a crush on Karmanor (demi-god of the harvest).
The sisters were collectively mentored by Gaia (goddess of the earth).
A notable feature of Thallo are the freckles splashed across her face.
Carpo's favorite frozen treat is butterscotch caramel ice cream while Thallo prefers green apple sorbet.
The sisters are a musical group known as The Gypsy Belles, being signed to Platinum Hall Records. They have quite the fan base & following on Fatestagram. The group's musical style is mainly a mix of country, country pop, folk, and bluegrass.
Thallo has a apple shaped Diamond. Ave jeweled clutch while Auxo has the ice cream sundae shaped one and Carpo has the golden pumpkin shaped one.

Thallo loves creamy spinach mint soup with lo mein noodles (with sweet & sour chicken).
Carpo loves a steaming hot bowl of tomato soup and brown rice with chicken pumpkin curry.
In their free time together they like working on their music, shopping, tending to their farm, and gardening. The sisters also have separate hobbies. Auxo enjoys surfing, swimming, & painting, Carpo prefers knitting, reading, carving pumpkins, and watching movies while Thallo loves bike riding, going to the farmer's market, and playing softball.

💜 Winter Themed Prompts // CLOSED 💜
“I’ll say,” Azzy said, pulling into parking lot of the ice cream shop. It was a simple parlor that looked very out of place for where it sat in the city. Something straight out of the 50s or 60s in aesthetic, like an old-timey diner for milkshakes, malts, and of course, classic hand-made ice cream. “This place is has like, the best ice cream. They have actual cows out back and they make all their cream and dairy stuff from scratch inside. It’s so smooth and it’s not super sweet, but it’s like the refreshing kind of ice cream. Like an orange creamsicle on a hot summer day.” Well he was certainly excited about showing her the place.
Walking it, the outside wasn’t that much different from the inside. The aesthetic of the retro diner was matched practically to a T, complete with neon lights, pleather upholstered seating, fake metallic railing and accents everywhere, and even a jukebox filling the air with the sound of smooth, crackling vinyls tunes. It smelled sweet and greasy - not overpoweringly so, but enough to let anyone coming in know that the grills were on and the ice cream machines were working. Azzy strode up to the bar counter, leaning over the edge and high-five a server working there. Another one of his packmate’s that worked the tables and bar, a lanky young wolf by the name of Matthias.
“What can I get ya?” He chirruped, looking over the two as he scrubbed a malt glass out with the wipe in his hand. Azzy looked ovr the weathered and worn paper menu hanging above his friend before finally shrugging.
“The usual- a mint chocolate serve chip with custard cream, caramel, and cherries.” He nudged Odie’s shoulder. “Hey, what do you want? And- don’t think you just have to stick to the menu. Really that’s just a list of flavors. They can throw together any flavor combination you want. I’ve seen people walk out f here with strawberry-mango-chocolate mixes, or that one guy that ordered banana and mint with vanilla sauce and pistachios.” The two wolves laughed, wrinkling their nose a bit at the weird combo.
“Just pick whatever you like, babe,” Asriel encouraged. “It’s all on me.”

Pairing: Kamilah Sayeed and MC (Annie)
Information: this takes place after Bloodbound 3, but I made a few changes. MC is still human, she is only Turned after they have a daughter. It came from a request, so it won’t be long, probably two parts, but I hope you enjoy!
Warnings: there’s a little bit of NSFW in the middle, but not much. The rest is fluff.
Part 2 (Finale)
The Mother of My Child - Part 1
Kamilah Sayeed was always overprotective regarding her wife. She thought humans to be so fragile, so easy to brake. And now there wasn’t just Annie to keep safe, but two! A tiny one was growing inside the woman she loved. Every night, the Vampire would slide her hands inside her wife’s shirt just to check if that little heart was still beating there, safe and sound. The baby was only eleven weeks by now, so the belly was barely showing any evidence. She liked to caress the skin slowly, feeling that small “elevation” while listening to Annie’s muffled happy sleeping sounds. Kamilah had never felt so filled with love in her entire life.
And so tired as well.
It wasn’t just about protecting her humans. Now it was also about keeping her wife pleased. If she thought Annie had a weird taste for food before, things got to a wild place Kamilah never believed to be possible.
“Lettuce with… Caramel? Are you sure?” the Vampire had the phone on her ear, walking through the aisles of a 24/7 supermarket at 3 a.m. “No, no, I am not judging! Not at all. Never. Don’t cry. My tone is not harsh. I promise. I love you. I’ll be there in a few minutes.”
She hung up the phone, lowering her eyes to the shopping cart filled with the most random selection of items. That was just the beginning. Soon enough those quick runs to the shops in the middle of the night became a thing. Annie couldn’t sleep, suffering from insomnia, which led her to crave for different stuff all the time.
“Kami…” the woman rolled in bed, hugging the Vampire from behind. Her voice was soft and sweet, like a kid about to ask for something their parents wouldn’t normally allow. “Are you awake?”
“Of course. What is it?” she sighed, turning to find those puppy eyes in the dark.
“I can’t sleep.”
“Are you hungry?”
“Thirsty. I want something.” Annie bit her lip, uneasy. “I don’t want to cause you more trouble…”
“Nonsense, darling. Whatever you want, you get. Tell me.”
“I want a black cow.”
“A… What?”
“A black cow. It’s chocolate milkshake with coke and chocolate syrup. Oooh put whipped cream on it too if you can! And cinnamon.”
Kamilah nodded, making a few notes on her phone. She always took her wife’s desires very seriously. And not only the food ones. After a couple weeks, Annie slowly started craving for something else. The Vampire noticed they were reaching another level when she suddenly walked in the office to find her half-naked wife sitting on the chair.
“Are you out of your mind? My assistant could’ve walked in and caught you like this!” Kamilah dropped the papers on the desk, eyes roaming over the woman’s body. That was such a nice set of dark blue lingerie. How to be mad at a gorgeous woman wearing lingerie?
Annie just shook her shoulders, an unconcerned laugh escaping her lips. “And? She would just get a quick glance of what you see every day.”
“I’m not a woman of sharing. Especially this view.” The Vampire was leaning in her direction, one hand already coming up between the woman’s thighs.
Kamilah particularly loved this new phase. She never knew when or how would Annie tease her, only that it would happen a few times every day. Once, during a conference, her phone buzzed and there was a message with a naked photo of her wife touching herself at home. In less than ten minutes, the Vampire was walking in the Penthouse, throwing the blazer and shoes on the floor as running down the hallway.
“Oh my, I didn’t think you’d really come ho…” Annie gasped when Kamilah suddenly pulled her by the waist, lifting her hips at the same time she leaned in to take a taste of her pussy. Soon enough, the human found out how photos worked well on the Vampire. One picture of her dripping wet, legs opened, and Kamilah would completely lose her mind, abandoning anything at work to go home.
“You have been so insatiable.” her eyes were a sparkling tone of red, a finger still rubbing Annie’s clit.
“Yes, and you’re loving it.” She moved her hips closer, wanting more. “Don’t stop, please…”
“As you wish.” Kamilah lowered her face again, sliding the tongue back to teasing and tasting until Annie would finally cum in her mouth. One more time.
From all the different effects the pregnancy was having on the human, just one of them was proving to be truly challenging. The weird food craving was easy to solve. The high sex drive, even better. Insomnia wasn’t funny, but Kamilah could stay awake for a long period without feeling tired, so Annie was never alone during it. Even the mood swifts were easy to deal. The sudden crying over insecurities could be fixed with a few kind words and a tight hug. Nothing would calm her wife more than holding the woman between her arms, letting her breath and let it all out. The Vampire was not very patient before, but for Annie, she could improve as much as needed.
“Evening, my love.” Kamilah walked in the bedroom with calm steps, not sure what to expect after what she saw in the kitchen, but her wife only looked over the shoulders with a calm expression on her face. “How are you feeling?”
“I’m fine. I had an issue earlier. But now it’s all good.”
“I see. Do you want to talk about it?”
“I lost it.”
The Vampire froze, eyes suddenly searching for Annie’s belly, hearing sharpening… But the heartbeats were still there. Firm. Healthy.
“Darling, you didn’t, I can hear the baby. It’s okay. What made you think that? Was there blood in your underwear? Let’s go to the doctor! Now. Just to be sure.”
“Huh? No, not the baby. The game. Lily won. But she cheated!”
Kamilah pinched the bridge of her nose, slowly calming herself. “You could have started the sentence with that information.”
“Did you hear the part where SHE CHEATED?”
“Yes, what a crime. I’ll have her grounded for a week without videogames.”
“Two.”
The Vampire laughed at her pouting. “Alright, two.”
“Sorry about the broken plates.” She opened such an angelic smile it was hard to picture that short sweet woman in rage throwing plates across the room.
“Don’t worry about those. I’m glad nothing bad happened. I don’t mind if this entire house is broken apart, as long as you and our child are safe.”
Annie’s eyes filled with tears. “I love you so much, goddammit.”
Kamilah loved her back. With the same intensity and devotion.
That’s why the hardest part proved to be the morning sickness. The only thing the Vampire couldn’t fix. She wasn’t able to make it better by buying stuff, listening or hugging. Nothing could make it go away, and Annie was having such a hard time with it. Every single morning, around 7 a.m., the woman would rush into the bathroom and puke. The first time was quick, but it always happened again after breakfast. Kamilah couldn’t leave for work until making sure her wife was feeling better. For this entire time, she would sit behind Annie, holding her hair and painfully watching her small features shaking with convulsions.
“Breath, darling. I’m here.” She whispered, arms holding her close.
“You shouldn’t feel guilty, Kami.” Annie relaxed against her chest, finally feeling some relief after an entire hour of puking and coughing.
“What are you talking about?”
“I know that’s why you’re so overprotective with us. I love how much you care, babe. But I don’t want you feeling guilty all the time. It’s not your fault you couldn’t do it.” The woman looked up to meet her gaze, finding a glimpse of sadness in those beautiful brown eyes. “We chose it together. I wanted to get pregnant.”
“What if you had a choice?” Kamilah hid her nose between her wife’s curls. There was a hint of concern on her tone. “What if I could get pregnant too? Would you still want to do it?”
“Yes. I would.” She was smiling. An innocent and happy smile. “I promise you. I chose it because I wanted things to happen this way. You have nothing to feel guilty about.”
The Vampire caressed her wife’s belly over the nightdress, enjoying that silence for a moment. The feeling of Annie fitting in her arms, the sound of the baby’s heart. They were already halfway through the pregnancy, so the small kicks would happen every now and then, especially when she was humming a song on her wife’s ears or playing the piano in the living room.
Things couldn’t be happier.
It didn’t matter how many times Annie would tell her to calm down and not overthink the situation, it was Kamilah’s nature to worry. She wanted to have everything under control, as the months started to go by faster and faster. The baby was growing strong, with all the exams pointing to a healthy child. Kamilah planned every single step about the birth, prepared for any surprises.
But not even The Vampire Queen could control when and how a baby comes.
Nobody expected it to be like that.
