I was watching a clip of the nutcracker on youtube and someone complained about the ballerina dancing as clara because "an adult playing a 12 year old is creepy" and guys. I think we need to shut down takes. No more takes until we figure out what's going on.

#what do you want??? CHILD LABOR?#profesional ballet is incredibly intense both mentally and physically #12 is a really young age to go en pointe in the first place let alone for HOURS on end every day #like i can understand this shit in like. tv or movies but on LIVE PERFORMANCE???#on camera you are so close to the actor appearance matters a lot more and you can make more forgiving schedules for child actors #in ballet you CAN'T account for those schedules #and the dancer's... you know. DANCING matters way more than how young they look. you're sitting 50m away it DOESN'T MATTER #i'm not sure how to like... tag this beyond the rant #im not even sure if it was purity culture or just a pure hatred for adult women #because the commenter went to complain that the dancer (who was 24) 'looked in her 40s'#ballet #the nutcracker #the dancer was Sae Maeda for the record who is BRILLIANT

a million thanks and a kiss on the lips to my irl bestie, T, for her unwavering support, thoughtful betaing, and willingness to answer all of my ridiculous questions about ballet and balanchine. and an additional million thanks to everyone who listened to me ramble as i dragged myself across the finish line of this fic.

Summary: Draco had fucked him over, yet again. Harry was sick of it.

With music swelling from the orchestra below, lights beating down on him hard enough to break a sweat before the first variation, the audience rapt with attention, this should have been the greatest moment of Harry’s life. But it wasn’t. Of course Draco fucking Malfoy had to ruin this for him too.

Harry took a shaking breath and began to dance.

[TUVOKTOBER: Day 9] Ballet with the Captain.

#Tuvok #bea art tag #tuvoktober #Janeway would love doing a ballet recital if there was significant lore in the holonovel about the stakes and so forth #Tuvok does not want to do a ballet recital. He does not see how this is enjoyable.#Janeway canonically took dance lessons as a kid and Tuvok just seems like he would have too.#They were both forced to take piano (or its equivalent) and dance - and they both hated it at the time #But Tuvok stuck with lute & Janeway quit both to go on to other hobbies (she had/has a lot)#<- gets bored a bit easily and likes the excitement of a new challenge #Janeway...ok. I think she would make her romantic interest in this holonovel be:#A brilliant but sort of dismissive reporter who's an amazing writer but gets stuck doing pieces he has no passion for. And she draws his ey #bc she's so good at dancing and they have flirty banter where she shows him how dancing isn't boring or dumb and you KNOW she's putting in #scene where she like makes him dance in the rain or something. And he's graying despite only being a few years older.#The holonovel ends with him appreciating dance and writing an amazing article about the performance which she reads after #some sort of misunderstanding only to realize gasp!
