so... it’s official... Arrow‘s spin-off, Green Arrow and the Canaries isn’t happening.

this fucking bullshit. we’ve waited how long for news, just to hear it’s not happening? they’d rather have Superman & Lois - a series about characters who already have enough spotlight as it is - with its very, very controversially-run production team or whatever (i’m talking about them firing a writer just because she, rightfully, wanted to stand up for people of color).

so i was gonna go on this longass rant about it... but honestly i’m too tired - both physically and emotionally - at this point to really do anything... i’ll talk about it more if anyone else on this site even pays attention to GATC anymore, so just send me an ask.

right now i’m trying to process that.

to those who boycotted the show last year - why are you surprised? no, better yet: why are you upset about it?

if you read certain articles, you’ll see that part of the reason was due to a decrease in ratings.

y’all did this. you boycotted the show. you lowered it’s ratings for something we all know was never and definitely isn’t happening now.

now, before i start getting hate from people for invalidating their feelings or whatever, that’s not my intention. i’m not saying you can’t feel whatever you feel, i’m just saying that while you feel those feelings, think of how you contributed to this.

Supergirl is ending after season 6.

when Stephen Amell made the announcement on March 6th, 2019 that Arrow was ending, i was devastated. i became a shell of the shell i had already become.

Arrow became my safe haven, my escape from reality. it became a thing i could go to at the end of the day when a math test was a little harder than normal. it was what i went to instead of drugs, instead of reckless and premature sex, instead of whatever else dumb preteens/teens went to to deal with whatever was going on.

then i started watching The Flash, and i got another safe haven, for when Arrow wasn’t working or i got to a particularly hard episode to watch.

admittedly, i didn’t want to watch Supergirl (or DC’s Legends of Tomorrow) at first. i had been given false information and that led me to jump to conclusions, but in June 2017, i was back to the low place i was at when i started watching Arrow in December 2015, so i thought “Why not? What do I have to lose? A few hours of my time? So what, it’s summer vacation, I’m about to move to a new state, let’s give it a shot.” and it turns out, it was one of the best decisions of my life.

Supergirl affected me in a way nothing else ever has. it became my go-to when i was sad, angry, bored, whatever. yes, i still watched Arrow, The Flash, and Legends, but not to the same extent i watched Supergirl.

when the announcement for Arrow happened, i watched Supergirl.

when i found out a close friend of mine attempted to kill himself, i watched Supergirl.

now, Supergirl is ending after season 6.

i haven’t been able to say it out loud yet. i’ve been typing it (obviously), i’ve been talking about it in discord, i’ve been reading about it, but i haven’t been able to bring myself to say it out loud.

Supergirl - to me - has never been about romance. it’s a show about a girl from another planet making a life (and name) for herself outside of the shadows that left for her. it’s a show about two sisters helping each other stay positive and hopeful in a world full of negatives and pessimism.

i’m not a hopeful person. i’m not optimistic. but Supergirl taught me how to be, and it taught me that it’s okay to be. but now Supergirl’s ending, and i have no hope for the rest of the Arrowverse.
