As well as Cambodians, Cham, Albanians, and Bosniaks, whose wholescale slaughter by the Khmer Rouge and Serbs, Chomsky, at best, minimized and, at worst, flatly denied all in the name of striking a blow against Western (principally American) foreign policy.
His defense of the regime of Slobodan Milošević deserves particular note, since he tried to denied its increasingly Serbian nationalist character in favor of depicting it as the last bastion of socialism in Europe.
This foretold the current phenomena of socialists and communists defending decidingly un-left wing regimes, such as the Islamic Republic of Iran and the Russian Federation under Putin, simply because they happen to oppose the foreign policies of most of the Anglosphere and Western Europe.
Chomsky himself jumped on the Putin defense bandwagon, claiming that the Russian invasion of Ukraine was provoked, called it "humane", and then happily ignored Ukrainians who disagreed with him.
Whatever you may say of Chomsky, he is not a stupid man; quite the opposite, in fact. This makes his refusal to ever reconsider his kneejerk assumptions about world politics even stranger. When it's an idiot and grifter like Tucker Carlson defending Russia's actions, it's understandable, if not laudable. When it's someone of Chomsky's intelligence and education, it's both bewildering and infuriating.

I just watched Funan, which is leaving Netflix in a day or two. Should be required viewing for anyone who still thinks Communism is a good idea.

It’s interesting to think about what having a family that has never recently been in war is like. It’s a part of my identity at this point where a genocide has defined me, who I am, and my past

Our very lives are miracles: Landbridge [life in fragments] by Y-Dang Troeung
Our very lives are miracles: Landbridge [life in fragments] by Y-Dang Troeung
In attempting to review this book, I can think of no better place to begin than with the first passages of the author’s preface: The intensity of these accounts, the imprint they leave on me, does not lessen with each telling. A quarter of Cambodia’s population died during the genocide; the remaining three-quarters were physically and mentally debilitated. US bombings, the Khmer Rouge genocide,…

Noam Chomsky "genocide denier"
I cut my teeth reading Chomsky in the 80s and 90s. He has faced criticism over the decades for his opinions that are extremely critical of U.S. and Israel's militarism. After 9-11 this made him a pariah in the U.S. and his critics have taken to socials today with out of context quotes, or just outright smearing him with the label of "genocide denier."
Reddit thread on Bosnia Genocide comments Reddit thread on Cambodian genocide comments
I'm not saying take the redditor's words for it, I'm saying these articles are a decent place to start and reddit's search works better than tumblrs...Oh and you might accidentally read some Chomsky and that would be no bad thing.

me looking at people praising reagan for being "pro-palestine" when it's like.
bitch he didn't fucking give a shit about bombing lebanon when the PLO moved there.
he was fucking pissed that it was bad press and it was ruining US negotiations.
y'all really gotta fucking stop and think why you're sitting here praising people like reagan and khameni when you know they're absolute fucking shit people.

Anglo Usamerican leftists love to minimize how damaging shitheads like Castro and Stalin were to their respective regions and still manage to be surprised when Latinos and Central/Eastern Europeans don't take up the communism thing eagerly.

I came to do targeted research for my Lili post and I’m on a deep dive about the lost rock music of 60s and 70s Cambodia....am I getting emotional about the fact Lili would never see Baksey Cham Krong reunite in 2015? Perhaps.
