Great Western Railway celebrates The Princess Royal’s lifetime of dedicated service by naming train in her honour
Great Western Railway has named a train after HRH The Princess Royal in recognition of her support for more than 300 charities, organisations and military regiments in the UK and overseas.
Representatives from a host of those organisations joined guests at London Paddington on Thursday 2nd May as Intercity Express Train 800024 was named in honour of Her Royal Highness.
Her Royal Highness was joined at London Paddington by husband Vice Admiral Sir Tim Laurence, a member of the GWR Advisory Board.
After the unveiling, The Princess Royal was introduced to guests including the Secretary of State for Transport, Mark Harper MP, former Prime Minister Theresa May and Transport for London Commissioner Andrew Lord.
Mark Hopwood, Great Western Railway Managing Director, said: “Naming trains has been a tradition on the railway, and especially on the Great Western Railway, since the earliest days of train travel.”
“Today GWR proudly continues this tradition, recognising and celebrating inspirational individuals who have shaped the communities and the nation. Her Royal Highness has dedicated a large part of her working life to official engagements and visits and we are delighted to recognise this immense contribution by carrying her name on the side of this Intercity Express Train.”
Transport Secretary, Rt Hon Mark Harper MP, said: “I’m delighted to see one of GWR’s trains named after Her Royal Highness The Princess Royal in recognition of her remarkable commitment to public service.
“Her Royal Highness has made a significant contribution to so many important charities, events and public services so it gives me great pride to celebrate this through one of the greatest traditions on our railways.”
Inspired by the heritage of GWR’s King George V locomotive, two sides of a coin appear on the side of GWR’s named Intercity Express Trains.
With the Coat of Arms of the GWR on one side of coin, the other will include an illustration of The Princess competing at the 1976 Montreal Olympics. Seated on the Queen’s horse, Goodwill, Her Royal Highness was taking part in the equestrian three-day event – the first member of the Royal Family to feature in the Olympics.
HRH went on to play a part in London’s successful bid to host the 2012 Olympic Games and today brings insight and experience to her role as a British member of the International Olympic Committee, as well as being President of the British Olympic Association.
Annamarie Phelps CBE, Vice-Chairman of the British Olympic Association, said: “HRH The Princess Royal is synonymous with British Olympic sport and the British Olympic Association. Having competed as an Olympian, she also holds the unique record of being an IOC member, having led an international sport federation and, of course, being the mother to another Olympian, Zara Tindall. We are delighted to join her today to celebrate the naming of this train in her honour.”
The Princess has been President of Save the Children UK since 1970, visiting projects in many countries including China, Cambodia, Botswana, Madagascar and The Philippines.
Gemma Sherrington, Interim Chief Executive of Save the Children, said: “We are delighted that Her Royal Highness The Princess Royal is being honoured by Great Western Railway for her lifelong charitable commitments. The Princess Royal has supported the work of Save the Children for over 50 years and as our Patron has worked tirelessly to support us, visiting teams in the UK and around the world and regularly meeting with our inspirational fundraisers and volunteers.
“We continue to be incredibly grateful for The Princess Royal’s support to help us continue to deliver lasting change for children and their families in the UK and across the globe.”
HRH has been closely involved with the creation of several charities, including The Princess Royal’s Trust for Carers (now Carers Trust), Transaid and Riders for Health, and has been Patron of the Motor Neurone Disease Association since 2008.
Tanya Curry, chief executive of the MND Association, said, “HRH The Princess Royal has offered steadfast support to the MND Association for more than 16 years and is a remarkable advocate for people with motor neurone disease, a terminal illness which affects more than 5000 people in the UK at any one time.
“We are incredibly grateful to Her Royal Highness for her unwavering dedication throughout her time as Royal Patron of the MND Association, and we are delighted her commitment to charitable causes is being recognised in this way.”

Nikken company’s demining machine. Photo: Ukraine’s Emergency Service. Japan delivered six mechanical demining machines to Ukraine, part of a larger 22-machine donation. Nikken BM307-V16 models, based on Hitachi ZX160 excavators, can clear 400-800 ㎡ per hour. Ukrainian specialists are training in Cambodia to operate this equipment.
Nearly 174,000 square kilometers of land in Ukraine is contaminated with explosive devices.
This equates to around a third of Ukraine's territory.
As of 2024, around 30,000 square kilometers have been cleared.
This machine can clear around 400 to 800 square meters of minefield per hour.
The challenges are immense with the shortage of specialists, and the complexity of situations the sappers encounter. But this equipment is necessary to help keep personnel safe and reduce the number of casualties.
If you missed the video from Hromadske on what it takes to clear these contaminated areas, click here.
Also, thank you @aspiring-weird-old-man, for reminding me that Misha Collins and United 24 are raising money for demining vehicles. The page for that specific fundraiser on United 24's page is here.
Also, Mark Hamill and Timothy Snyder are teaming up with United 24 for demining robots.

I have always felt the Left’s vitriol towards Kissinger was overblown, but that he was perhaps less masterful as many of his defenders claim. He accomplished some important diplomatic wins, and was also part of a terrible escalation in war. Is Kissinger really the specter many claim, or the master the others do or is he just a master at self-promotion who happened to live a long time?
Kissinger had some fairly prominent wins and the criticism that he receives is usually on conduct that is itself quite worthy of criticism.
Kissinger's biggest foreign policy successes were his shuttle diplomacy in the Middle East with regards to Israel, Egypt, and Syria and his pursuit of detente with the Soviet Union, cooling tensions between the US and USSR. However, it's not like Henry Kissinger was the lone voice in promoting detente - that was a wing of foreign policy thought that often found itself in the minority in the era of the containment doctrine. Detente was as much a creation of the trends of forces of history as much as it was the brainchild of any one department of state official. To attribute detente to Kissinger is bad Great Man history.
Much of the criticism of Henry Kissinger - support for Argentina during the Dirty War, the bombing of Cambodia, and support for Pakistan despite the genocide are very accurate. The damage and devastation wrought by these policies, and American support for them, lingers today. Moreover, not all of these policies were only seen to be devastating in hindsight or post-facto, these were entered into with knowledge of what was going on, especially in Pakistan or Operation Condor in the Southern Cone. If someone castigates Kissinger for the devastation his policies caused, there is a great deal of truth to it.
I often roll my eyes at left-wing critics of Henry Kissinger, not because their criticism is invalid, but because I find it remarkably hypocritical, even ignoring cranks and bigots like Noam Chomsky. The Democratic Socialists of America, for example, has been running headlines on the death of Kissinger, but they support Putin's war in Ukraine, support Uyghur camps, and are currently in support of Maduro's latest colonial escalation over Essequibo. Bernie Sanders is correct in criticizing Kissinger's actions in supporting authoritarian regimes in Latin America, including the use of death squads, but Sanders himself supported death squads in Nicaragua (even fundraising for Ortega knowing that he was doing it) and compared opposition efforts to expose Ortega's shootings and bombings of indigenous populations to Nazism (yes, really). So I largely find those critics to be pearl-clutching; they're quite happy to commit the same (or worse) and cheerlead for the same, provided that *they're* the ones doing it.
Thanks for the question, Cle-Guy.

Happy 76th Birthday the excellent Scottish actor David Hayman.
Hayman, one of Scotland’s most acclaimed actors of stage and screen was born in Bridgeton, Glasgow on February 9th 1948.
David Hayman grew up as one of three children in a working class family in Drumchapel, Glasgow. Leaving school without any academic qualifications he started work as a would-be engineer at 16. One day, wearing his grease stained boiler suit, he marched into the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama and announced his intention to become an actor. He still has no idea where this came from, he is basically a shy person and there was no family history of acting. He took advice and joined an amateur dramatics group and a year later was accepted to study drama and has never been out of work since.
His film and television credits are, frankly, much too numerous to list but include his superb portrayal of hard man Jimmy Boyle in “Sense of Freedom” and, of course, he is recognisable everywhere as Detective Chief Superintendent Michael Walker in Linda La Plante’s long running Trial and Retribution series. He has also starred in the hit Scottish cop drama Shetland as well as Scottish comedy shows Scotch & Wry, Rab C Nesbitt and Still Game.
Hayman has also directed numerous films and TV shows as well as regularly treading the boards in the Theatres.
Away from acting, David established his Glasgow-based charity Spirit Aid in 2001. It has gone on to become one of Scotland’s most successful small scale humanitarian organisations. He started Spirit Aid because he wanted to do a Scottish Live Aid at Hampden, but his rock stars let him down. “They were all, ‘Oh, man, I’m burned out,’ and I was thinking, ‘You’re sitting on your fat arse on your sofa with £40 million in the bank. Go and sit in a refugee camp in Afghanistan and tell me you’re burned out’. But I thought, I believe in this, I’ve got to keep going.”
He spends several months every year visiting his charity’s relief projects where he employs indigenous workers wherever possible. His fundraising operations include Operation Loo Roll, a project selling toilet paper that raised £100,000 in 2007. The charity undertakes humanitarian relief projects from Kosovo to Guinea-Bissau, Afghanistan, Sri Lanka, Cambodia, Malawi and South Africa.
Hayman is a big campaigner for a Scottish film studio, which is looking like happening soon, he says “It takes the Americans to come in and build a shed where they shoot Outlander and that’s the nearest thing we have to a film studio, think of all the movies that we’ve lost, all the money that we’ve lost all the way back to Braveheart.”
David was recently in the fab comedy from Scottish director Michael Caton-Jones, Our Ladies, “set mainly in Edinburgh a group of Catholic school girls get an opportunity to go to the capital for a choir competition, but they’re more interested in drinking, partying and hooking up than winning the competition” it is an adaptation of Scottish author, Alan Warner, of Morvern Callar fame’s third novel Sopranos, I read the book in the late 90’s it is a laugh out loud book, and the film is also very good.
Hayman was in an interesting film, My Neighbor Adolf, last year, which I haven’t got round to watching yet, set in 1960;s Brazil he plays a “lonely and grumpy” Holocaust survivor convinces himself that his new neighbour is none other than Adolf Hitler. We also saw him in the sequel Fisherman's Friends: One and All, both films get ratings of 6.2, and 6.4 on IMDB . I have just started a binge watch of Chemistry of Death, a Brit crime thriller series which is on Paramount plus. Last year David played a Chieftain in the Disney Star Wars prequal series Andor.
David won a top theatre award for his portrayal of northern Irishman, Eric, in the acclaimed play Cyprus Avenue last year, he has a couple of projects lined up, Jailbroken, an action crime thriller described as "the day before a violent criminal is due to be released from prison he receives a threatening call. Armed only with a mobile phone he must somehow save his family - and himself."And at the other end of the spectrumis a fantasy called Assassins Guild, "After the Mermaid Wars, Iliad's city is attacked by dark forces. With the city full of rancor and corruption, Death herself forms an alliance and offers Atticus, an elite fighter, the chance to return to life. This gift comes at a price."

I slept so awful last night, and I'm so exhausted today. Coupled with the failure of a fundraiser on Saturday, and being sick, I just. I am so, so excited for the end of the month, when we're supposed to have a holiday. I don't even know if I'll be going anywhere; just that I'll enjoy being able to do nothing for a hot minute.
I am debating a beach trip though. Either to Thailand or the island here in Cambodia again.

Former GISHers may remember a fundraising item to support demining efforts in Laos. That item funded a project with the Mines Advisory Group (www.maginternational.org ) and it struck me that today might be a good day to make another donation to them in not-so-loving memory of Henry Kissinger. He's gone, but the aftermath of his war crimes is still ongoing.

What the Rioters in Brazil Learned From Americans
Jair Bolsonaro’s supporters showed that antidemocratic revolutions can be contagious too.
We memorize its opening sentences in school, throw quotes from it into speeches, and generally treat the American Declaration of Independence as a familiar source of reliable tropes. But when it was published in 1776, the declaration was a radical document, and its language inspired other radical documents. In 1789, French revolutionaries published the Declaration of the Rights of Man, declaring that “men are born and remain free and equal in rights.” In 1804, the leaders of the Haitian slave rebellion proclaimed the Haitian Declaration of Independence, vowing that “in the end we must live independent or die.”
The American Revolution also inspired scores of democratic and anti-colonial revolutionaries. Simón Bolívar, remembered as the Liberator in half a dozen South American countries, visited Washington, New York, Boston, and Charleston in 1807 and later recalled that “during my short visit to the United States, for the first time in my life, I saw rational liberty at first hand.” Visits to the U.S. inspired independence leaders from across Africa and Asia, and they still do. Would-be democrats from Myanmar and Venezuela to Zimbabwe and Cambodia reside in the United States, and study the institutions of the United States, even today.
That tradition was broken, not just by the Trump administration but by the claque of men around Donald Trump who began dreaming of a different kind of American influence. Not democratic, but autocratic. Not in favor of constitutions and the rule of law, but in support of insurrection and chaos. Not through declarations of independence but through social-media trolling campaigns. Many of the actual achievements of this claque have been negligible or, more likely, exaggerated for the purposes of fundraising. Steve Bannon once implied he had influence in Spain, for example, but actual members of the Spanish far right laughed at that idea when I asked them about it in 2019. Bannon’s attempt to set up some kind of alternative, far-right university in Italy ended in failure. At their conferences, on their social-media platforms, and on their countless YouTube channels, the leaders of what one might call the Autocracy International often seek to present themselves as the enemies of communism—even as most of the actual people who really do fight communism, whether in China or Cuba, keep their distance.
In Brazil, the Autocracy International has finally had a “success.” Although public institutions in the country’s capital have been attacked before, most recently in 2013, today’s events in Brasília contained some new elements. Notably, some of the protesters who today sacked the Brazilian Congress, presidential palace, and supreme court; beat up police officers; and broke security barriers were holding up signs in English, as if to speak to their fans and fellow flamethrowers in the U.S. The phrases #BrazilianSpring and #BrazilWasStolen have been spreading on Brazilian social media, again in English, as if some American public-relations company were pushing them. There are clear links, some via radical Catholic organizations, among far-right groups in Latin America, Europe, and the United States. Not long ago, members of some of those movements, including ex-President Jair Bolsonaro’s son Eduardo, met at a special edition of the Conservative Political Action Conference in Mexico City.

Peace of Heaven Children’s Paradise https://qr.churchofgladtidings.com/p/peaceofheaven
Here at Church of Glad Tidings, we have a heart to help those who have been disenfranchised, abused, or poorly treated. For over 40 years, we have worked hard investing our time, our energy, and our money into meeting urgent needs both locally and abroad. That truly is God’s heart for each of us and has inspired us to embrace the ministry motto: “Find a Need and MEET IT! Find a Hurt and HEAL IT!” Following this vision has taken us from modest beginnings to having built numerous orphanages and helped alleviate the misery of many both young and old here in America and in India, Cambodia, Moldova, Romania, and Uganda! Over the years, our attention has been increasingly drawn to the tragic escalation of the world-wide child sex trafficking trade, recently eclipsing the international drug trade to become the #1 profitable criminal enterprise world-wide! Following our passionate commitment “to provide a Christ-honoring solution to every urgent need” we have embarked on a mission to create a sanctuary for children who have been rescued from the unspeakable cruelty and degradation of the international sex trade. We have partnered with Mission Safe Harbour – the largest and most aggressive child rescue operation world history ( https://www.missionsafeharbour.org ), and are currently in the process of buying a ten-acre facility here in Live Oak, California that was formerly a low security women’s prison. We will be transforming it from a prison to a paradise of beauty, love and healing where former sex slaves of international pedophiles are rescued, protected, and provided for in a safe and loving “heaven on earth” environment. We are calling it Peace of Heaven Children’s Paradise!

Ukraine peace summit starts in Switzerland, but some major countries do not attend
A peace summit on Ukraine started in Switzerland, but the host’s decision not to invite Russia led to the non-attendance of some major countries, as the summit would turn into a routine discussion without the participation of Moscow, according to France 24.
The Swiss, however, insist that Russia should be involved at some point. Ukrainians also hope for Moscow to join the summit, according to a top adviser to Ukraine’s president.
However, many countries see the process as a largely symbolic attempt by Kyiv to rally the international community and demonstrate strength against its more heavily armed and manned adversary. Yet the summit raised the question of how to achieve a peaceful solution to the conflict without Russia’s participation in the talks.
The war in Ukraine also led to international sanctions against Russia and increased tensions between NATO and Moscow. Moreover, the peace summit is taking place against the backdrop of Russian military successes and reports of its air superiority on the battlefield.
Swiss officials sent out about 160 invitations. They claim that some 90 delegations will attend the event, including UN members. Earlier, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky led a diplomatic campaign in Asia and beyond to rally participants.
Some heads of state and government will also attend the summit. The delegations include French President Emmanuel Macron, Polish President Andrzej Duda, Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida, British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, and Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.
However, the head of the US, Ukraine’s main ally and contributor to its war, Joe Biden, will skip the summit because of a presidential campaign fundraiser in Los Angeles hosted by actors George Clooney and Julia Roberts on Saturday. US Vice President Kamala Harris and White House National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan will attend instead.
Non-attendees of Swiss peace summit
Along with Russia, China will also not attend the peace conference at the Bürgenstock Resort overlooking Lake Lucerne on 15-16 June. The Chinese Foreign Ministry stated it believed that both Russia and Ukraine should participate in any international peace conference of that kind.
Earlier, UN Secretary General António Guterres announced that he would not attend the conference on Ukraine due to personal commitments. German political analyst Christoph Herstel stated that the summit in Switzerland, to which even the UN secretary-general would not go, “does not make any sense.” Critics also argue that the meeting’s participants will not witness significant achievements towards peace without Russia.
Saudi Arabia, Mexico, and Cambodia also declined to attend. Pakistan will probably skip the summit as part of its efforts to maintain “neutrality.”
In addition to not attending the conference, Saudi Prime Minister and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud announced that he would not go to the G7 summit taking place in Italy on 13-15 June, according to Saudi media.
The Crown Prince sent a message of gratitude to Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni for “the kind invitation he received.” However, he informed that he would not be able to participate due to “commitments related to overseeing the works of the Hajj season.”
Keith Krause, a professor of international security studies at the Graduate Institute in Geneva, stated that Ukraine needed to emerge from the conference with momentum. However, he expressed uncertainty about achieving any results at the meeting.
I don’t think anybody is particularly deluded that this is going to give birth to a new peace plan, or even to some kind of agreement that stops the hostilities on the battlefield.
The final list of participants is not expected until Friday evening. Question marks remain about how key developing countries, such as India, Brazil, and Turkey, might take part, if at all.

Pra Kring is a small figurine of Buddha in Mara Vichai Gesture (Subduing Mara, also known as Calling the Earth to witness) with lotus petals at the base in the front, the right hand of Buddha is on his knee, and his left hand is holding a pot of elixir of immortality or a peach (peach is regarded the fruit of immortality). The style of Pra Kring is similar to Pra Paisatchayaguru (Buddha of Medicine Bhaiṣajyaguru), and it is believed that Pra Kring is Bhaiṣajyaguru of Mahayana Buddhism. Bhaiṣajyaguru is also known as Healing Buddha, Master of Healing, Supreme Physician, and King of Medicines. The figurine of Pra Kring will be put in the water for making holy water for healing sickness, warding off evil spirits, easing the suffering, Klawklad Plodpai (bringing safety, and pushes you away from all danger), and Metta Maha Niyom (easily gaining loving, mercy, caring, kindness, and compassion from all people around you), and Maha Larp (bringing Lucky Wealth / wealth fetching). In the reign of King Rama V of Bangkok (King Chulalongkorn) between CE 1868 to CE 1910, the Pra Kring Pawaret was used for making Holy Water on his Birthday Anniversary Ceremonies.
The oldest Pra Kring figurines were made in Tibet and China, they are called “Pra Kring Tibet” and “Pra Kring Nong Sare” in Thai. And the second to the oldest Pra Kring figurines were discovered Cambodia dated as of Angkor period, they were called “Pra Kring Ubageng”, “Pra Kring Panombageng”, and “Pra Kring Pra Patoom Suriyawong”. The Cambodian style Pra Kring Patoom Suriyawong was popular in the reign of King Jayavarman VII (reigned CE 1181 to CE 1218), this type of Pra Kring was made to replace the figurine of Buddha of Medicine Bhaiṣajyaguru which was firstly made in Cambodia since King Jayavarman I (reigned CE 657 to CE 681). The making of Pra Kring figurines in Thailand was influenced by Cambodia, and it believed that Pra Kring figurines in Thailand was firstly made as early as in the Kingdom of Sukhothai (CE 1238 – CE 1438).
In Thailand, the Pra Kring figurine is traditionally stuffed with a small metal ball inside to make noise after it is shaken. The ringing the Pra Kring is to perform while praying a sermon. The material used for casting Pra Kring figurines in Thailand is called “Nawaloha”, an alloy, a combination of 9 kinds of metals which are iron, mercury, gold, silver, copper, pluang (antimony ore), zinc, chin (silver lead alloy), and borisuth (pure copper ore). There are different sizes of Pra Kring figurines, and the portable tiny Pra Kring figurine is called “Pra Chaiyawat”.
As for Thais, Pra Kring is a Buddha figurine that makes noise after being shaken. And in Mahayana Buddhism, it is believed that Pra Kring would help bring 12 kinds of success to the owner. And Thais (Theravada Buddhism) believe that Pra Kring helps bring good health, longevity, cure for all diseases with wealth & prosperity.

Yant U or Unalome
Yant U or Yant Unalome, unalome cabalistic writing represents the path to enlightenment in the Buddhist culture. The spirals are meant to symbolize the twists and turns in life, and the straight lines the moment one reaches enlightenment or peace and harmony. The dots at the end of the symbol represent death, or the moment we fade to nothing.

CHAO KHUN NOR OF WAT THEP SIRINTHRAWAT
Chao Khun Norrarath Rachamanit (Chao Khun Nor) was born on Saturday, 5th Febuary BE2440 and was the eldest of the family of 5 children. He was in the first group of students of the 1st Official University of Kingdom Siam, later known as Chulalongkorn University. After completing his studies, Chao Khun Nor became an officer of the Royal House of King Rama VI. He became the closest attendant to the King and he was promoted to serve at the King’s chamber and attended to the King’s daily needs. After the death of the King Rama VI, Chao Khun Nor was devastated. He left the palace in BE 2468.
His parents wanted him to get married with a lady teacher after seeing Chao Khun Nor was in lament over the death of the King. However, before the marriage would be engaged, Chao Khun Nor told his parents that he wanted to enter monkshood.
Chao Khun Nor ordained on 23th March BE 2468 at Wat Thepsirintravas, a day before King Rama VI was cremated. He became a monk as thamboon (making a merit) for the King Rama VI. Chao Khun Nor was a devoted vegetarian who consumed only a meal a day and decided never to leave the monkshood. He was ordained by Somdej Phra Buddha Ko-sacharn (Charoen), who was also his preceptor. Phra Putwiriyaaigon, the abbot of Wat Sommanatwiharn and Phra Udon Seelahkon Wat Thepsirin were the Dhamma teachers.
STRICT OBSERVANCE OF THE 227 PRECEPTS
It is widely believed that Chao Khun Nor could accurately predict the future by looking at finger and palm prints. When the villagers heard of that ability, all of them flocked to the temple asking him to tell them their future but they were declined by Chao Khun Nor. Despite that, many people continued to visit Chao Khun Nor very often even though they know that they will most probably go back empty handed. They all came for an assortment of reasons ranging from offering presents, to seek a guidance about their problems and to ask Chao Khun Nor about their future lives. Chao Khun Nor was very uncomfortable, pity and sad with all these human beings.
When the villagers offered things to Chao Khun Nor, Chao Khun Nor advised them to bring those to other monks as he strictly observed the 227 provisions of moral precepts. Chao Khun Nor also mentioned that one would similarly accumulate merits when giving offerings to other monks. This made the villagers unhappy and felt that Chao Khun Nor looked down on them. They people brought the matter up to Somdej Phra Buddha Kosacharn (Charoen).
When Somdej Phra Buddha Kosacharn heard this, he asked Chao Khun Nor about this matter. Chao Khun Nor explained that the reason he did not accept the offerings or attendance from the villagers because he was ordained for the purpose of making a merit to King Rama VI. Besides that, he also needed to maintain good concentration in order to study the teachings of Buddhism. In order to succeed, he needed to have no connections to the outside world. All the people who came to visit him brought along the troubles of the world, which adversely affected his concentration. When Somdej Phra Buddha Kosacharn heard his reason, he sympathized and agreed with him.
Chao Khun Nor had strictly observed the 227 precepts, he did not accept any form of offerings from the villagers. The room in which he lived was very empty and consisted of only the basic necessities. There was even no electric lighting. Chao Khun Nor did all his readings in the daytime. When Chao Khun Nor went back to his room, he would lock the door and stay inside. No one ever knew what he did in his room and he never came out to receive guests. He never accepted anything from anyone with the exception of his nephew who would bring vegetarian food from his mother. Chao Khun Nor spent most of his time in his monk’s house.
At the temple, they placed some skeletons of dead people to aid the monks in the development of their insight. The intention was to remind the monks that the female body would eventually resemble this ugly state so that they will refrain from sex and impure thoughts as well as to reinforce the rule of impermanence. LP Parn of Wat Bang Nom Kho Ayutthaya also practiced in such a manner.
WATER AFTER WASHING CHAO KHUN NOR’S FEET COULD CURE SICKNESS
It is a daily routine for Chao Khun Nor to walk back to the monk’s house. There were 2 things that were significantly different with him. Firstly, he did not wear any slippers like the villagers and walked around barefeet. The second and most remarkable was that he always walked on tip-toes and his heels never touched the ground. No one knows why he walked like that but it was assumed that it was a kind exercise for his leg muscles. Before stepping into the monk’s house, he would wash his feet in a basin and dry them.
A village was hit by a deadly disease and one of the villagers was instructed to bring an empty bottle to Chao Khun Nor to ask for some holy water to try to cure his fellow villagers but was declined. The villager had no idea what to do and how to get holy water from CKN to appease the villagers. Out of desperation, he decided to take water from the basin used for washing Chao Khun Nor’s feet and brought it back to his place to give to the sick. Nobody knew the origins of the water and what it was used for. After those sick people drank the water which they thought was holy water given by Chao Khun Nor, all of them were miraculously cured. This greatly puzzled the man who brought back that water to the village.
When this rumor spread out, people who heard it, then all rushed towards Wat Thepsirin to ask Chao Khun Nor for this special holy water but he denied having given any to anyone much to their disappointment. When the villagers heard Chao Khun Nor’s reply, they were all very confused as to where the holy water came from.
The monk staying next to Chao Khun Nor couldn’t stand it anymore as more and more people flocked to the temple and decided to clarify to the villagers once and for all that Chao Khun Nor had never given any holy water to anyone. However, there was one man who came to beg for it but was declined. He also witnessed the same man taking the water from Chao Khun Nor’s feet washing basin but at that time, he did not know what the man was doing.
When the origins of the “holy water” was established, all the villages rushed to take water from the basin. Some waited around for it to be filled up and immediately emptied the basin. This made it a very hectic job for the person responsible for topping up the basin as he had to do it numerous times a day. Finally, the basin was placed in Chao Khun Nor’s room to stop all trouble.
MIRACLE AT THE AMULETS BLESSING CEREMONIES
There were reports of strange incidents happening when Chao Khun Nor made incantations. On the fateful day of Saturday, 25th April BE2513, a photographer was assigned to take photographs of him consecrating a batch of amulets and was busy snapping pictures of the long and elaborate process until it was finished. After the photographs were developed, there was something strange and remarkable about a picture in which Chao Khun Nor was sprinkling holy water on the amulets. The wooden brush that was used to sprinkle holy water emitted white light from its tip. There were many people who were present at the ceremony but the light was not seen by anyone there. It only showed up on the picture. Everyone was amazed as they could not find any logical explanation for this. However, everyone agreed that it could not have been caused by the actual physical sprinkling of holy water itself.
There was another strange incident on Saturday, 5th December BE 2513. There was a big ceremony at Wat Thepsirin and many people came to witness the event. Chao Khun Nor announced that it was going to be the last time he was going to make incantations for the blessing of amulets. In a photograph, the flames from the candles which were lined up directly in front of the principle Buddha statue were “swaying” as if there was a strong wind blowing. However, all the windows and doors were shut during that time and there was no wind at all. The flames should have been completely still. Everyone who was at the ceremony were astonished when the picture was shown. This particular picture was taken when Chao Khun Nor was making incantations in front of the principal Buddha image in a temple and Chao Khun Udomsarasophon was blessing the amulets with holy water.
Based on the pictorial evidence taken during the ceremony, there was widespread belief that the strange incidents were the result that Chao Khun Nor was already an arhat.

ugh i have a cold. i was supposed to go shopping for some summer clothes for the sgp-cam trip but i shouldn't leave the house today if i want to be in any state for the protest tomorrow >< it's snowing ... but at least it's not -13 any more?
Speaking of Palestine, progress in my neighborhood at least:
wolfie and dwaekki are washed and drying.
I got Dan's book! It's really soothing, and educational. I feel like a lot of it is almost... intuitive? but intuition your anxiety makes you ignore :D so just seeing it written (and hearing it, i'm doing both :D ) is helpful. I also think this would be REALLY helpful to a lot of teens. I don't want to push it on anyone but I have lowkey recommended it to some of my students.
I really wanted to get the audiobook officially but it's not available in my country so.
Everything for trip is now booked, and cambodia visa acquired.
I'm sad that skz 4th gen fanclub doesn't have a digital only option, i'm not sure about how much money i can spend this time. but worried about what they'll lock behind the fanship. sigh.
jeff has a new song out, that i'm really enjoying, and the mv is dropping in uh... 2 hours :D

Happy 75th Birthday the excellent Scottish actor David Hayman.
