oh forgot to mention, i am seeking help/advice! williams f1 has opened up their work experience for applications and i need to submit a cv as well as a video application
first, i have no idea how to write a cv because i haven't started working yet and i don't know how to make it good 😭 also, i barely have any experience besides my academics but idk how to twist that into "i'll do great at williams"
i have to include in the video:
Why you want to take part in work experience at Williams Racing
What skills you think you'll gain from the work experience programme
What makes you the perfect work experience candidate, why we should pick you
but i have a feeling i'm going to be awkward as fuck and i don't want to seem like the basic "choose me" videos, i want to do something unique and to show that i love f1
also i'm not telling my parents about this because then they'll probably stop me from applying ☺️ (gotta love asian parents 💀) if i get in, then i'll tell them but they might not let me go anyways because i didn't tell them about it
any advice/tips would be greatly appreciated because i am wandering blindly in this! thank you!

re: Bill the malcontent in NASA mission control: nobody's MAKING you work at NASA mission control, Bill. You can always quit your job at NASA mission control, Bill. I'm sure there are at least several people who'd apply to fill that vacancy at NASA mission control, Bill.

I would like to thank tumblr for a decade worth of 'heres what you do in an emergency' posts, because just now on my way home I watched a cyclist wipeout into a ditch, and I was able to successfully call 911 and get him help and everything happened basically as correctly as it could

Hi! I have a question regarding cvs
I'm bilingual and I know that were I'm from knowing english is a plus and can maybe get me some job opportunities. However I'm still applying to jobs in my country. Should I have two cvs? Is it a good idea to have one that is in two languages?
Cutie pie, you're wonderful and any employer would be lucky to have you.
It's generally a good practice to have multiple CVs (or resumés) for multiple purposes. So if you're applying to jobs in another country, and you speak the language, write your CV in that language and list your other language under the "skills" section of the CV. Vice versa for your home country.
Being bilingual is a huge advantage in the job market. Flaunt it!

I'm so tired of having a body that has never liked me
the corkscrewing spine, the tonsils the constant size of ping pong balls, the cyclical vomiting syndrome, the chronic migraines, the periods that go for anywhere from 3 weeks to 3 months,

Do No Harm - Henry Marsh
Rating : ★★★★ / ★★★★★
Do No Harm is one of those books that EVERYONE will tell you to read if you're considering entering the field of medicine or something close to that.
In reality, this book doesn't teach you anything about medicine itself (unless you're willing to look up every other word), but rather the ethics and mindset of a surgeon in theatre. Think of it as placing yourself in Marsh's shoes for a number of short stories within his life.
Would I recommend a read?
TL;DR : yes!! Though it doesn't act as a textbook, it is definitely a good read if you're interested.
The 'too-long' section:
To pick up this book, you have to be in the right mindset, at the right place, at the right time. Otherwise, you'll give the book a bad impression of a slow and boring read as soon as you start. I won't sit here and say that I understood every word written in this book - but if you are an aspiring surgeon or you take an interest in the brain / tumours, it can definitely help you in your future endeavours.
If not, the book does tend to give general explanations of words that aren't common, but there are a few instances where an acronym is thrown into the mix and I had no idea what was going on. Overall, it was a good read at times but a sleepy one at others.
If you're applying to universities or careers in medicine, and you're wondering if reading this book will give you an advantage, maybe. Only if you can write / speak about it in a sense that GIVES you that advantage. For example, showing that you've had an interest in science and medicine for a long amount of time, or you are passionate about the subject so much that you made extra time on the side just to read it. It is a very common book to be read and recommended, so keep this in mind. I would definitely not pass up the opportunity to get my hands on it if I were you.

Hi there! :) You have a very organised and helpful blog. I heard that programmers who have an active blog or YouTube channel or a similar thing have some advantage in job searching when they put the link to it on their resume/CV, that employers like to see that kind of stuff. Would you show your blog on a job application or interview, or if you have, how did it go? Do you think a developer in the beginning of their career could benefit from sharing their Studyblr blog with potential employers?
Have a nice day!
Tumblr media
Hiya!💗
Would you show your blog on a job application or interview, or if you have, how did it go?
That is a really good question! I do have my blog attached to my LinkedIn profile and I do use that everywhere including my GitHub and Replit account where it asks to 'attach a website' to my profile, I add this blog. However I haven't added it to my CV/resume - the reason for that is that I want to create a portfolio page where I can direct future employers to that page to view my projects. I have in the past shown people my GitHub for my projects but not my blog in particular!
Personally in the past when I was job searching, I didn't add my blog on my CV because I also wasn't too confident with my blog so I just added my GitHub and my LinkedIn.
Definietly in the future when I start job searching when I move to Canada, I will add my blog, portfolio, GitHub and my linkedIn to my CV and social media presence!
Do you think a developer in the beginning of their career could benefit from sharing their Studyblr blog with potential employers?
Sharing your Studyblr blog with potential employers can certainly be a great way to showcase your passion for learning and your interest in programming. As a beginning developer, you may not have much experience to showcase on your resume or portfolio, so a Studyblr blog can be a valuable tool to demonstrate your knowledge, skills, and dedication to the craft by sharing your coding journey. I see people on Twitter do that all the time and that's how they get recognised. I had a mate actually got an interview and the job offer because a recruiter noticed his tweets on Twitter. Tumblr isn't too well know like how Twitter is to recruiters but it's worth a try!
However, before sharing your blog with potential employers, it's important to make sure that the content is relevant, professional, and appropriate for a professional setting. Avoid sharing personal information or irrelevant topics, and focus on sharing technical content, tutorials, projects, and insights that are related to your career in software development.
You can create a coding blog solely for sharing your coding progress. I did this, I have a coding blog and a personal one. I hardly reblog posts on my coding blog (if its not relvant to coding/programming) so it's all focused on me coding and sharing projects etc. I do all the reblogging and liking irrelevant posts and creating random posts on my personal blog (@xiabablog)!
Hope this helps! thanks for the question!!

I love when people just say things to me. Like when that lady in juice aisle of the grocery store starts telling me about how she needs a bigger cart because she keeps “buying too much fucking shit” at 8:30 in the morning. Like yes tell me all about it!!!!

Here's a lil' list of tips they don't tell ya at school:
When your applying for jobs, send your CV and cover letter as a PDF. Even the most old school of computers can usually open them and it gives off a more professional vibe. (also, a PDF is really easy to print off and a lot of employers like to print off your CV if they have you in for an interview, so they can refer back to it.)
Keep your CV and Cover Letter under a page long. Most places have bots that will sift out applications longer than that and even if they don't, an employer could be looking at over 200 applications. There gonna take one look at your carefully crafted, 4 page essay on why your the perfect candidate and go 'yeah, no. don't today' and wont even read it.
Leading from the last point, Assume whoever's reading your CV is the laziest person alive. Make your point concisely. I'm not saying don't use buzz words, use all the buzz words, but keep it lean and dense as much as you can. Again, if you have a massive paragraph for a personal statement, they will scan it at best and probably not remember it afterwards. Short and impact-full is your goal, here.
Last point: Buzz words. Put. Your Thesaurus. Down. Seriously, don't use any words you can't define off the top of your head because it shows and, even if it doesn't, they may very well ask in interview and you don't wanna sit there floundering, trying to remember what 'proficient' means and where you used it.
