@its-a-humanriot tagged me… a bit ago for WIP Wednesday! This is the intro to a medium-ish piece im writing atm (about 8k words in! slowly but surely…) of Panam & my ex-raffen shiv V

The nomad Rogue had given him the details for, Panam Palmer, is standing bent over the open guts of her Camper, hood propped open, her back to V. Just like Rogue had mentioned, she’s snapshot Aldecaldo; cropped jacket, jeans dusted tan from the Badlands. Her hair’s piled high to keep it off her face and out of the engine sputtering a thick, acrid smoke up into the Night City sky.

He’d called ahead of time, so she should have been expecting him to visit her in the empty industrial parking lot just off San Amaro street. It was a nomad faux-pas to spook someone in the mech bay, working on their car; framed as bringing bad luck in fable, but always for safety’s sake in practicality. Even Raffen knew this.

So maybe he should have done something more to alert her that he was approaching. A knock, clear his throat, tap of his shoes. His steps are quieter than they have the right to be, but that’s because he’s modded his boots beneath the mud and shit caked on top, and the chrome in his body intuitively knows how to move to keep him quiet. He’s a well-oiled machine.

Still, in the end, V’s human, fallible. Which is why it takes him by surprise when he says, “Hey, you Panam?” And he’s met with a revolver muzzle pressed under his chin. High enough of a caliber that it’d blow off his skull in one shot, not just make him particularly ugly.

So she had heard him coming.

He tilts his face a little higher up, and the gun follows, nuzzling him like the butting head of a cat.

“Shiv shitscum, the hell do you want?” She snarls. Johnny thinks she’s hot, all that dark hair, shirt cutouts showing off the scars on her waist, especially when she sounds like that, especially since V’s seen her from the back already.

V’s sort of fucking preoccupied to be distracted by that kind of thinking right now. He keeps his hands loose, away from his sides, though subtly he flicks his thumb against the pad of his pointer; he can feel his thermal knuckles click on and start to heat up. In thirty seconds flat they should be somewhere in the hundreds of degrees of Fahrenheit. It’s a temperature high enough to melt skin and char bones.

“Rogue sent me.” V grins; he knows it’s not charming, but he doesn’t know how to be. Disarming had never quite been in his repertoire.

okay I saw a post of yours where you mentioned Dave was sexually abused, and I’ve only read homestuck recently and only once so maybe I wasn’t paying enough attention, so I’m curious where you saw that? genuine question, not trying to be like, bad faith or anything

Bluntly - This is, in fact, a “not paying enough attention” issue. It’s tackled incredibly directly, constantly, all the time, in Dave’s intro.

I fail to see how constantly exposing your child to fetish porn, keeping them surrounded by sex toys, and literally including them in fetish porn, which is by definition CP by the way, is anything but sexual abuse. Dave is 13 years old, and this has clearly been going on for a very, very long time, judging by the fact that Dave’s already reached the Realization Phase and is trying to pretend everything’s fine in a way that indicates that this was once normal to him.

I’m not saying Bro has ever sexually assaulted Dave, we don’t have evidence for that. But the sexual boundary between them is practically nonexistent, and that level of carelessness is an act of abuse in itself. I mean, Dave clearly feels abused and traumatized by it, if you actually read the intro and realize this isn’t a comedy. Shit, recovering from Bro’s Abuse is what his whole character arc is about. It’s a little hard to miss - he has several very direct speeches about it. If we’re going to accept the Strifing between Bro and Dave as abuse - which it is, textually - we need to accept the other shit, too. The sexual abuse, the emotional and psychological torment, the brazen neglect… That house is presented like a Saw Trap for a fucking reason, you know? Navigating an abusive environment really feels like being in a never ending Saw Trap.

I think I started following you for TK and Carlos, but you're now one of my main sources of Buck and Eddie as well (because despite having never watched 911 I know who they are lol). And I honestly have become increasingly confused as to whether Buck and Eddie are actually together?? I know one of them is bisexual... but like... are they cannon? It is just a ship? What's their deal???

BUT

Short answer: Buck and Eddie are not canon in terms of being in a romantic or sexual relationship.

However…what’s their deal? I’m glad you asked.

So it all started in season one, when 25 year old Evan Buckley was a hot mess express stealing fire trucks for hook ups with girls.

He then met a dispatcher almost twice his age named Abby who stalked him a little bit and he nearly died choking on a piece of bread but since our sweet summer child has both mommy and daddy issues he imprinted on her hard like a baby duckling

Her mom, who she had been taking care, of died and she went to Europe and promised she’d be back and left Buck staying in her house. (She would not be back gentle reader. But don’t worry it will come back around why this is important)

Season two starts up with a pining Buck and the entry of Eddie Diaz

This is literally our intro to him. Also What a Man is canonically playing as the soundtrack as Buck first lays eyes on him.

They speedrun enemies (onsided) to besties in a single episode.

Eddie has a son, Christoper.

Chris has CP and Eddie moved him to LA because this is where Chris’s mom ran away to when she left them.

Buck also imprints on Eddie and Chris, immediately helping them and getting Chris a home health aid. His sister jokes that he has a man crush and will finally maybe get over Abby. Eddie tries to get back with his ex-wife but she both neither wants to be a wife or a mom and is going to leave them again but gets hit by a car and dies.

And Buck and Eddie and Chris become increasingly more codependent.

Buck nearly gets crushed under a fire truck and can’t come back to work and babysits Chris during shifts and they almost die in a Tsunami and Buck thinks he did a bad job taking care if Chris but Eddie says there’s no one he would trust with his son more.

Buck tries to come back to work but he’s got blood clotting issues from nearly getting crushed by a fire truck and is bared from returning and therefore sues the department for wrongful termination (even though he wasn’t actually terminated he just couldn’t return to active duty). Then he couldn’t speak to anyone from the firehouse which led to the divorced dads era.

Angry, bitter fight in a grocery store with their coworkers ensues. Don’t worry it all works out and we go back to coparenting like normal.

Our boys are both unsuccessfully dating women and the queerbaiting accusations get tossed around. They are unfounded because 1. The show is written by queer people and 2. There have always been gay characters as main and recurring characters. They just all happen to be black. (See racism, lesbian erasure, and 911)

Things are going great until Eddie gets shot at work by a sniper right in Buck’s face.

It was highly traumatizing. Buck saves Eddie and Eddie is in a coma and Buck has to tell Chris and take care of him, you know, like a dad. Everyone points out he’s basically Chris’s other dad, not Eddie’s girlfriend who is also around sort of.

Buck confesses to Eddie when Eddie wakes from the coma that he wishes it was him that had gotten shot and died which is when Eddie reveals that would be really fucking dumb because Buck is who Eddie wants to take Chris if he dies.

Anywho. Everyone keeps dating women. Buck almost dies a few more times, and gets struck by lighting has an interesting coma carol and is obsessed with death. They remain co-parents of an adorable son.

Enter season seven and Tommy comes back into our lives. In the beginning it’s hard to see who he’s for, Buck or Eddie or just as a device. But he’s for Buck! There was rejoicing. Bi!Buck was no longer headcanon!

Buck comes out as bi, because you know, he thought it was normal for the first 32 years of his life that men were hot. Everyone knew that. Buck has a boyfriend now. People are mad it’s not Eddie. Fandom wars ensue and those of us that like both try our best to avoid the abuse to middling to terrible success.

Eddie has a girlfriend and then finds out that there is an exact doppelgänger of his dead ex-wife (told you she’d come back around) and begins having an affair with her on his current girlfriend. Everything blows up when he and doppelgänger wife are processing his ex-wife’s stuff and his girlfriend and son came home.

Chris leaves his dads and goes to live with his grandparents in Texas, and neither of them can convince him to stay. Eddie grows a terrible mustache. Buck continues dating Tommy. Interviews and canon keep calling Eddie straight but

We then find out that Tommy is the ex-fiancé of Buck’s season one obsession, Abby. Buck tries to process this with Tommy but Tommy has the most projecting ass low-self-esteem meltdown and breaks up with Buck.

Which brings us to now, two sad bestie coparents whose son is living in Texas.

And that’s what you missed on glee 911!

Did that clarify anything or just as confusing?

Canonically, IMO, they’re in a queerplatonic coparenting situationship with no sex, thus far.

Okay but seriously, I'm more than happy to explain. I assume that if you're asking this question you're not aware of the proshipper vs antishipper, uh, "conflict", I guess. So, here is what both of those terms mean, to the best of my descriptive abilities:

Antishipper (often just "anti"): someone who vaguely believes that consuming problematic fiction (usually specifically problematic sexual fiction like lolicon or incest) is either a true reflection of them as a person or a corrupting force that will cause them to play out these desires in real life, onto real people. Basically, if you read age gap, you touch real kids in real life or secretly want to.

Proshipper (sometimes "profic"): someone who does not believe the above, and believes that fiction is not the same as reality because it doesn't harm anyone and therefore people should be left alone as long as you have no reason to believe that they would ever do something like that irl. Often hand in hand with things like anti censorship, kink positive, etc, though being a proshipper does not necessarily mean you have a problematic ship or kink yourself (example: me).

You're probably asking this question because you saw me day in my bio that I am a proshipper. I've tried to stay neutral in this initial description, but obviously I probably didn't manage to be completely unbiased considering that I believe myself to be right (most people do) so if you want to ask further questions after this that's perfectly fine. That being said:

Why am I a proshipper?

So, to understand this, let's first look over the issues within both communities— every group has issues, after all.

What problems do proshippers have?:

- sometimes 4chan assholes co-opt the label "proshipper" just because they're lolicons, even though there's good evidence to suggest that they would do or even have done criminal sexual acts in real life, or that they possess actual csam (child sexual abuse material, a term being used in favor of "cp" these days as porn implies consent). Proshipping has nothing to do with the harmful idea that you should be allowed to exploit and abuse real children.

- there are still many gray areas which proshippers themselves don't agree on. For example: I've seen a bunch of arguments about if writing fanfiction of live action shows or movies changes the equation. The general consensus of proshippers is that writing fanfiction of a character played by a child actor is definitely a more delicate situation and should not be sexual as it's inextricably tied to the image of a real child, but there are others who believe differently.

- I'm genuinely struggling to come up with more of these. Um, sometimes lolicons are really shitty people, like in point 1. This isn't SUPER relevant though cause in reality the overlap between predominantly queer or female proshippers and Reddit incels who just wanna jerk off to a petite anime girl is pretty small, though I'm sure it exists somewhere .

Now, what problems do antis have? (Fair warning, this is gonna sound even more "biased" but I hope my logic is still sound from the outside :p):

- I don't have any statistics on this (haven't exactly been many research papers on fandom drama), so you're going to have to trust me when I say that antis are absolutely NOTORIOUS for extreme harassment campaigns. The first time I was exposed to the word "antishipper", it was attached to a story of a former animator committing suicide because antis had gotten them fired by "exposing" their porn alt on Twitter and they could no longer afford medication for their disability. So, hell of an intro!

- their opinions are, in pretty basic ways, not backed by science or even practical common sense. The human brain can distinguish between fiction and reality after around age four or five

and people certainly aren't trying to hand nsfw content to children that age so I think it's safe to say that the people who are reading these things won't be "confused" by them or whatever. Also, even just using your brain and talking to these people, you find out most of them project onto the YOUNGER character.

- they claim to support victims but often simply don't. I won't keep dragging threats into the spotlight because I know there are probably antis who aren't as violent, but it's honestly astonishing to me how often they jump straight to wishing death and terrible things on people, and this has included more than once telling a rape victim they hope they get assaulted again just because they're a proshipper. See, a lot of these "taboo" sexual fantasies like age gap and incest actually themselves stem from a traumatic experience, and any therapist will tell you that fiction is a much healthier way to explore intrusive thoughts and urges than more dangerous coping mechanisms like self harm or substance abuse. And when confronted with this, in my experience and many others', antis will simply ignore that fact or say that the therapist is some sort of evil enabler.

-the general cognitive dissonance of believing an incest fanfiction will make you "forget" that incest is bad vs being fine with horror movies and slashers speaks to a deeper and honestly kind of worrying anti-sex mindset. I'm not sure I'm qualified to tackle this particular topic, but I definitely agree that it's a thing; after all, I have no idea how else those two things could coexist.

Anyways, I'd like to close this off by saying not everyone is as crazy opinionated as I am, I'm just autistic and like talking lol. A lot of people who id as proshippers just have a sort of minding their own business, ship-and-let-ship mentality, and a lot of antis are unfortunately just teenagers who were told proshipper = evil pedophile groomer and thus they put "proship dni" in their bios just cause they don't know and don't really care what it means. It is undeniable that many antis are kids themselves, and that does worry me, because fandom drama (especially Twitter fandom drama) is dangerous and vitriolic and also they're putting extremely serious threats on their digital footprints at the tender age of 14! But whatever, I'm not their parents, that's just my worry. Sorry for rambling this long lol, I wouldn't blame you if you dropped out halfway through but this is basically my summary of this whole thing. Do with this knowledge what you will! Another DissociaDID post because frankly I’m not done.

Soren can obviously do what he wants (using he/him for the current name because I really don’t feel like starting an argument about whether DD is trans or not. I don’t mind using someone’s preferred name or pronouns.) when it comes to his channel, that goes without saying.

That being said, every single video is the same fucking thing. I as a former fan am frustrated with the same few topics over the past few years. I want a return of his to be genuine, not promise new educational content and be the same horrifying misinformation combined with blaming everyone for his legitimate fuckups.

People cannot genuinely believe that his newest update video was anything but a recap of the entire channel plus a chance to mourn all the fused alters like they died. People cannot genuinely believe that his newest demon alter video wasn’t a ripoff of the videos he promotes constantly, Mara’s intro, Sally and Amira’s nonhuman talk, and the videos about types of alters.

He’s promoting Palestine on TikTok and YouTube shorts when YouTube videos themselves get the most money for them statistically. He could do videos where he isn’t constantly making shameless plugs to his patreon and begging people to watch his trauma and dissociation on there if they’re paying for a certain tier.

This is not fucking did, it’s a joke. The newest video about types of switches is just blatant misinformation, full stop. I’ve now seen didtok making their own switching terms and circulating those. These are not clinical representations of a disorder.

Can we cut the brainrot for a second and admit that DissociaDID is a one man army to dismantle legitimate medical resources and precedents on which DID is founded on?

DissociaDID is a grifter who should have stayed the fuck gone. In case anyone believes I’m being too harsh about this, let’s go over some of the more insidious things this person (single person) has done.

1. Dated Team Piñata, someone who was exposed for drawing and selling art of CP, and begged all the did YouTubers to sweep that little factoid under the rug for the sake of friendship.

2. Fucked up with misinformation SO BADLY that the entire did community believed the terms integration and fusion were interchangeable.

3. Treated fusion like it could be caused by trauma, like alters had fucking died, and encouraged fans to simp over while mourning Kyle.

4. Responded to comments flirting on Mara’s individual account and liked comments from MINORS along with using their main account to tell a 16-17 year old boy that they could work on his GAG REFLEX (he was doing a magic trick and pulling a flower out of his mouth).

5. Told all of YouTube that Reddit was a bunch of predatory sadists who wanted children hurt when we asked him to move mature content to mature platforms like OF so kids couldn’t see that shit.

6. Legitimately steals trauma stories from media (says there’s no introjection there), other YouTubers, and from people who first supported him starting the channel.

7. Is still extorting viewers for the Sergio Costa case that should have ended at least a year ago. He might have started the issue but Soren is continuing to gather legal funding in a cash pool for the next complaint about his channel (can’t sue me I’m anonymous).

8. Posts triggering content to TikTok and when asked to stop blames the viewers and implies they’re bad people or predators.

9. Sends his fans to dox and harass whoever he wants because he can’t take a little legitimate criticism.

10. Subjected viewers to fetish content without their informed consent bc TP had a sneezing fetish (TP also drew CP with this fetish).

11. Blamed the internet for essentially killing Nadia after people called him out on his racist caricature of an Indigenous person.

12. Gave HORRIFIC sex advice for minors to see on how to get into BDSM after trauma. If you can’t say no you can’t have sex. Fuck that entire video.

Defending this person without any critical thinking and doing it blindly is defending everything I’ve stated above.

Part 1

Finally !! Punchline origin time !!

I've been wanting to talk about her for a bit, but I wanted to make her intro a little fun, since she's an important little lady. I'm sick right now though so I couldn't do anything too crazy, unfortunately. ANYWAY !

So, if you remember in Joker's origin how I mentioned that she had a daughter that was eventually taken by CPS - Alexis Kaye is that daughter! So in my AU, Punchline isn't a weird Harley Quinn replacement, but actually the kid of the Joker who DESPERATELY wants her parent's attention and praise. Even if that parent is a supercriminal

Alex grew up in Gotham, being adopted by a family pretty quick since she was still really young. Her parents attempted to give her a stable life and their affection, but there was always that lingering fear that she might turn out like the Joker. They shared the same blood - and even looked incredibly similar - there was always the chance. It made them a little scared of her, and that wasn't helped by the fact that Alex could still remember her mother

In fact, Alex was determined to know more about the Joker. She absorbed any and all information she could get her hands on, trying to connect the dots between the person she knew and the person committing these crimes. Her obsession with the Joker would interfere with her life, her schoolwork, her jobs; anything and everything that could have led her down a better, normal path. Eventually, she wondered what would happen if she went and met the Joker. Alex was acutely aware that her parents could never full accept her - maybe her biological parent would be more accepting?

Obviously, he wasn't. After being jumped by the members of Joker's gang, teleported down into a basement, and finally face-to-face with her mother for the first time in nearly two decades, the only thing Alex wants is for the Joker to hear her out. Except, he seems to completely deny the idea that he could even have any children out there

Nevermind the fact that Alex did a DNA test, just in case, and they're 100%, without a doubt, related. The Joker wants nothing to do with her, unless she's willing to work for her

And so, out of desperation, Alex agrees. She'll be Punchline if it means she'll get a hint of the love she felt when she was a kid. She'll kill, and maim, and destroy, and she'll do it with a smile!
