The Comeback - Recap

Stream went well. I talked about my goals for the year, ranted about Gundam, and even managed to clean up my island in Animal Crossing. So many weeds. Here's some clips... (sorry for the mature audience label, I swear a lot)

I was late all 2022 and I guess it's just gonna be my thing.

I really outdid myself and I've honestly got more work to do.

I will be getting through as much of this watch list as I possibly can before the end of the year. Gonna build my Berserker Nobel model when I get to Mobile Fighter G Gundam. The G stands for greatness. If anyone wants to watch the Gundam franchise in full, the list is available here.

Orphan Black: Echoes showrunner Anna Fishko on bringing back Tatiana Maslany:

Fishko reveals that Maslany was approached about returning, but because of scheduling conflicts she was unable to do so. But the showrunner says: "We tried and we thought about it, we had a little episode for her to return that we were sort of holding onto for a while, but in the end it just didn't work out, which was too bad." When asked if she'd like to see Maslany return as one of her Orphan Black characters in future, Fishko adamantly says: "I'd love to see her come back." The challenge now, then, will be on viewers to make that come to be.

ARMYs are really just burnt out and I don’t think the rapid fire pace of releases has helped anything. It’s amazing as a fan to get all this music, but the expectation to chart everything I think is unrealistic and kind of overwhelming. People just don’t have that kind of time, energy, or money to go all out for every comeback when they happen every other month, sometimes several in a single month. It especially doesn’t help if ARMYs aren’t feeling the song, and I don’t think they’ve felt quite a bit of CH2 music.

I have longer thoughts on all this, but I just have so much annoyance towards some chart ARMYs and their unrealistic expectations and their refusal to acknowledge that the current organized fandom streaming power isn’t what they think it is. Another big wave of HL victimization (but sometimes TH is also included??) from ARMYs and it just opened the doors for so much resentment and hatred to be thrown towards jkk but especially Jimin. It was really disturbing to go and block these people & find I had 5-10+ moots following each time. It’s really out of control.

I’m just tired of this RL discourse while they ignore the twenty elephants in the room that explain why the streams are where they are (and no it’s not because “ARMYS hate RL”.). Instead they just throw these tantrums that further divide an already deteriorating and toxic fandom. I don’t know what it will take for them to understand that a fandom that doubled with Dynamite is going to prefer pop music, and that the majority of ARMYs are in fact not zombie streamers but fans who casually listen to the music that appeals to them. Not to mention the fact that a lot of ARMYs aren’t even active right now, so many of them have been dropping off and waiting for BTS to return as a group.

It really just keeps getting worse and worse in ARMY spaces. I’m pretty sure active ARMYs are about 90% diet solos at this point. It’s extremely messed up what a lot of them can get away with saying and not get canceled or called out for. It’s also just this hyper-fixation on drama, shooter accounts, NewJean’s, MHJ, raging against whatever fandom approved villain of the month, trending pointless hashtags for random reasons, and then being shady and resentful because of these arbitrary goals they set that are often influenced by using Jimin as a goalpost.

This album is CRIMINALLY underrated. Every song is absolutely perfect. Chan did a lot of work with composition and instrumentation here. Seungmin and Hyunjin flex their writing skills. Their tracks are bangers. Battleground is so effing hype and amazing. There and Novel are beautiful and DLMLU is a GEM <- should be REVERED in SKZ lore.

Twitch Comeback Stream!!

Happy New Year art fiends! 

We are moved (still kind of packed) and settled. My first stream of 2023 will be January 13th at 9/8c. We'll be going over goals, plans, tea and more! 

New year, new streaming schedule. Thursday, Friday, and Saturday at 8 pm Central Time. Out of habit, you'll definitely be seeing 9/8c as a stand in for 9 EST/ 8 CST. Be sure to check my Twitch schedule page for other local times.

We'll also be doing our annual backlog audit. Spoiler: It has not gotten smaller. I have started using different apps, so I'll be going through those and talking about the adjustments I've made. As for games, I'll be spending January trying to finish Kirby and Spiritfarer. I did a quiet stream back in December where I started Spiritfarer. I ended up playing most of it off stream, so if y'all art fiends would like I'll restart after I finish the current playthrough. I currently don't plan to start new games until April. The January 12 hour stream will be the 20th at 7/6c. Spiritfarer will be this month's 12 hour.

I'll be working hard to catch up on my projects. I intend to improve leaps and bounds before the summer. I hope you'll cheer me on.
