Gummy Shorks

We've got Eclipse, we've got Moondrop, and now we've got Sundrop. Together, they make up the Daycare Attendant Candy Trifecta (or D.A.C.T. for short)!

Sundrop Candy

Ingredients

2 cups sugar

1/2 cup water

1/2 cup corn syrup

1/4 teaspoon cream of tartar

Yellow food coloring

Lemon flavoring (to taste)

Instructions

In a saucepan, combine sugar, water, corn syrup, and cream of tartar.

Stir over medium heat until the sugar dissolves.

Insert a candy thermometer and cook, without stirring, until it reaches 300°F (hard crack stage).

Remove from heat, add a few drops of yellow food coloring and lemon flavoring, adjusting to your preference.

Pour the mixture onto a greased baking sheet or into candy molds.

Let it cool and harden completely before breaking it into pieces or removing it from molds.

Remember, working with hot sugar can be dangerous, so take precautions.

What is a bonbon?

I was listening to an american podcast and they were talking about bonbons being chocolates which - as a german - confused me, so I decided to look it up.

Apparently the word bonbon in english means what we call Praline??? Huh????
