Arduino-Compatible Open-Source Dual CAN-FD Network Analyzer
You can now sniff two CANFD busses with SavvyCAN and CANFDuino for less than $150! This cost-effective solution is worth noting. The configurability of the FD settings and messaging in SavvyCAN’s GVRET has not yet been fully baked in. It looks like it’s currently coded for 2 Mb CANFD speeds, which seem to be the most common combination for CANFD automotive networks.

simon deserves a quiet, loving marriage.
after everything the man has been through he deserves someone that loves him the right way. someone who sees past the flaws, the scars, the darkness that has embedded itself into his mind.
words of affirmation don’t have to be spoken to one another. the two of you just know how the other feels just through their actions or even just the look on their face, the glint of light behind the others eyes as your gazes meet.
he makes you laugh with his occasional morbid jokes or jokes that most wouldn’t find funny, and in return you do the same for him. your laughter is contagious to him. it makes the corners of his lips twitch into a smile that makes your heart beat just a bit faster. has your face brightening in a way that has him asking, “y’alright, love?”
you both meet each other in the middle. not everything is thrown onto one person: laundry, the dishes, you name it. you and simon help each other, work as a team because that’s what partners do. nothing is ever done alone.
he loves the stories about your day no matter how minuscule they may seem to you. they are everything to him. he loves the crinkle at the edges of your eyes when you have a bright smile spreading wide across your face. he loves your mind, how intelligent you are, how you help remind him of things that he so easily forgets.
but most of all he loves how gentle you are. and he’ll always feel like he doesn’t deserve it. he’s a bad man isn’t he? he’s taken the lives of countless of people and yet here you are preparing the man a plate full of your amazing food, warming his bed, and standing with that sparkle in your eyes by the front door when he comes home.
those tendrils that sit in waiting at the back of his mind slowly creep in every so often and it’s like you can see them with those sharp, knowing eyes of yours. the second you spot them you’re shooing them away with a kiss to his brow bone, nuzzling just a bit closer to him in bed until it feels like he might consume you whole with how big he is.
when you finally relax into him, your lips pressed against his temple, he just barely makes out, “everything will be alright.”
and he knows then and there that he does deserve you, that he does deserve your laughter, your smiles, the warmth you bring him, and your kindness.
simon knows everything will be alright because he has you.

CAN Bus in Industrial Automation
Tumblr media
Introduction
The Controller Area Network (CAN) bus has evolved as a basic technology that transforms how machines and devices operate and interact in the field of industrial automation, where accuracy, dependability, and effective communication are crucial. The CAN Bus in Industrial Automation, which was initially created for the automobile sector, finds many uses in industrial automation because it offers a reliable and adaptable way to connect different parts of intricate systems.
The foundational ideas, advantages, and uses of the CAN bus in industrial automation are covered in detail in this introduction.
Communication’s Basic Building Blocks:
The need for smooth communication across numerous equipment and control systems is at the core of industrial automation. This communication network’s backbone is the CAN bus, which enables real-time data and command transmission between sensors, actuators, controllers, and human-machine interfaces.
Sturdy and Trustworthy:
Industrial settings can be challenging, with elements like electromagnetic interference, loud noises, and temperature changes causing serious difficulties. The CAN Bus in Industrial Automation is extremely dependable since it is made to resist such circumstances. Data transmission accuracy is maintained even in noisy surroundings thanks to its differentiated signaling and error-checking systems.
Data transmission in real-time:
Tumblr media
Flexibility and scalability
Systems for industrial automation range greatly in size and complexity. Due to the CAN bus’s excellent scalability, new devices and components can be added without completely changing the communication architecture. It is a popular option in a variety of industries, from aerospace to the production of automobiles, because of its adaptability and simplicity of integration.
Advantages of CAN Bus in Industrial Automation
Effective Bandwidth Usage:
The CAN bus effectively uses its bandwidth by sending only pertinent data when it is required. Even in networks with many linked devices, this optimization reduces data congestion and makes sure that urgent information is sent quickly.
Standardized Protocol:
Tumblr media
Reduced maintenance expenses:
Because CAN Bus in Industrial Automation networks are dependable, less frequent maintenance and troubleshooting are required. This results in cost reductions for labor as well as downtime.
Energy effectiveness
Energy efficiency is a key feature of the CAN bus, which is crucial for situations where power consumption is a problem. When they are not actively sending or receiving data, networked devices have the ability to enter low-power states.
Numerous Uses:
The CAN bus is adaptable and suited for a variety of industrial automation uses, including manufacturing, process control, robotics, vehicle control, and more. It is a useful technology in a variety of industries thanks to its versatility.
Data Integrity:
The error-checking methods included in CAN bus technology help to protect data integrity. This functionality is critical for industrial applications where safety and precision depend on accurate data.
Fault Tolerance:
System malfunctions in industrial environments might result in expensive downtime. Because CAN bus networks are fault-tolerant, they can continue to function without interruption even if one component fails. System reliability is ensured by this redundancy, which also lessens the effects of breakdowns.
Disadvantages of CAN Bus in Industrial Automation
While the Controller Area Network (CAN) bus offers numerous advantages in industrial automation, it also has certain disadvantages and limitations that should be considered when implementing it in complex industrial systems. Here are some of the disadvantages of using the CAN bus in industrial automation:
Limited Bandwidth:
Tumblr media
Distance Limitations:
The CAN bus is intended for communication over relatively small distances, usually just a few meters. Additional hardware, like as repeaters or converters, may be required for applications that call for communication across longer distances, increasing network complexity and cost.
Reduced Data Transfer Rates
The data transfer rates of the CAN bus may be less than those of other more recent communication protocols. Applications requiring quick data interchange, such as high-speed production systems or sophisticated robotics, may find this to be a constraint.
Timing with determinism
While real-time communication is provided via CAN bus, it might not give the same level of deterministic timing as some other industrial networking solutions. This lack of determinism may be detrimental in applications with strict time constraints.
Message Size Limit:
The maximum message size on the may bus may limit the volume of data that may be sent in a single message frame. Message fragmentation and reassembly can become complicated and cause delays when huge data sets need to be transmitted.
Diagnosis and Complex Configuration:
A CAN bus network’s setup and configuration can be challenging, especially for large-scale systems. Additionally, identifying and resolving network problems may need specific equipment and knowledge.
Insufficient native security features
CAN bus lack built-in security mechanisms because it was not initially designed with security in mind. Due to today’s networked industrial systems, cybersecurity threats are a major worry, making it vulnerable as a result.
Conclusion:
In conclusion, the Controller Area Network (CAN) bus has been a transformative technology in the field of industrial automation, providing numerous advantages such as real-time communication, robustness, scalability, and cost-effectiveness. It has become a fundamental component in enabling the seamless exchange of data and control commands among devices within complex industrial systems.
However, it’s important to recognize that the CAN Bus in Industrial Automation is not without its limitations. These limitations include limited bandwidth, distance restrictions, lower data transfer rates compared to newer protocols, and challenges related to deterministic timing and message size. Furthermore, the evolving landscape of cybersecurity has highlighted the need for additional security measures when using CAN bus technology in industrial applications.
Despite these drawbacks, the CAN Bus in Industrial Automation remains a vital tool for many industrial automation applications. Its reliability and adaptability continue to make it a preferred choice in various industries, from manufacturing and process control to robotics and vehicle control.
Ultimately, the suitability of the CAN bus in industrial automation depends on the specific requirements of each application. System designers and engineers must carefully assess the trade-offs between its advantages and disadvantages while considering the unique needs of their projects. As industrial technology continues to advance, the CAN bus will likely continue to evolve, addressing some of its limitations and remaining a valuable communication platform for industrial automation systems.

In the past, people in the Animal Crossing community would make fun of Tom Nook as a sleazy landlord. Since then, he's really rehabilitated his image as this 'heart of gold' businessman (he's the one who puts bells and furniture in trees for you to find! he adopted orphans! he donates to charity!), but New Horizons genuinely paints the most devious version of him.
He's successfully privatized settler colonialism: you pay HIM to move to a "deserted island" (which apparently the oceans in the AC world are just full of) and start a colony that he is directly invested in. At best he's running a weird vacation package scam (you arrive on the island with no money and in debt for "using his services"). At worst, he's using you to set up company towns. For god's sake, he literally has his own fake currency that he forces you to use to pay off your debt. But don't worry, he's repackaged it in a way that definitely doesn't sound like an MLM scam: the Nook Mileage Program!
You're no longer just his tenant or his temporary part-timer, you're his business lackey. The entire tutorial section of the game has you spending actual weeks running around completing tasks and doing hard labor to set up his colony. You're even tasked with preparing his properties and finding buyers for them. No, you aren't a tenant anymore. You work for the landlord. You are directly responsible for finding tenants for him. And he doesn't even fucking pay you. Not for setting up town hall and museum, or his nephew's shop –– which is the ONLY store on the entire island that sells necessities –– or bringing KK Slider to town, or helping populate his town. Not a single cent. No, actually, you have to pay HIM to BUY infrastructure like bridges and stairs and park benches. And all the while, he's telling you're the "resident representative"; you get to call the shots! That the reward is the community's progress. That what you're doing is in everyone's best interest (but most importantly, his).
Since NH's release, people have done a lot of legwork to say that Tom Nook isn't a capitalist while the game shows him at his very worst. He owns the only general store in town. You're forced to use a phone that he modified and branded as his own. Buy Nook-branded furniture and merchandise at the self-serve kiosk in the town hall, a governmental building! There's no conflict of interest here!
But hey, if you're tired of being the landlord/business mogul's goon, you can also find work as a deluxe resort home designer for a company that also pays you in their special company currency that can only be used to buy their products instead of a real salary! Because that's what the Animal Crossing franchise needs! More vacation homes!!!
#this is a really long winded way to say i really really really really hate new horizon's storyline and player role#i really hate that not only your house but the entire TOWN. the whole COMMUNITY you're a part of is owed to tom nook's business#i really hate the “vacation getaway package” angle because it shows just how commercialized the entire premise of nh is#and how lost the game is in its original core concept#animal crossing is about the experience of moving to a new town and becoming a part of that community#just to compare: all past ac games have a similar opening#you're on a bus or train or taxi to someplace new. a stranger strikes up a conversation and you get to know them before arriving#new horizons opens with you at customer service desk filling out an client application before a flight.#in prev games working for nook in the tutorial is meant to be demeaning. you want it to be over with so you can actually start living life#but in new horizons working for tom nook IS your life. and it's so rewarding! don't you feel rewarded?#you aren't a person. you aren't a new neighbor. you're tom nook's client. and then his unpaid employee. and the game insists it's fun to be#that's how void the game is#because it's bad enough that a rpg life sim got turned into a sandbox game where you have to build the town yourself#but the only reason why you're building it is because the landlord who you're in debt to TOLD you to build it.#everything is a rewards program! everything is a tour service! be sure to do your daily tasks to earn nook bucks to spend on nook merch!#that really sucks imo.#i mean. the entire game is based around the vacationing industry. of course it all feels fake and temporary. it's only a vacation.#long post#rant#not art#god the fact that your starter villagers can't even decide where to live you have to decide for them#i've never played a game that does the opposite of handholding#where instead it's the PLAYER who has to handhold the npcs through everything. and newsflash!! it's really exhausting and boring

Testing PICAN CAN Bus HATs with the Raspberry Pi 5
The new Raspberry Pi 5 features the Broadcom BCM2712 quad-core Arm Cortex A76 processor @ 2.4GHz, up to three times faster than the previous generation. With RAM variants up to 8GB, this is the fastest, smoothest Raspberry Pi experience yet.
While we appreciate the increased performance of hardware and software, such an upgrade also causes major headaches for manufacturers and sellers of RPi HATs, such as our PiCAN CAN Bus HAT series. The questions that arise are: Is the HAT still hardware-compatible? Will the driver software and other software utilities still work?

Why do I keep seeing transmascs and trans men insisting or implying that all trans men are "female socialized," or "understand the female experience," or "navigated the world as a woman." Because yeah, sure, that can be true for some people. especially if you weren't gnc at all as a kid and didn't crack your egg until well into adulthood, it makes sense.
But they don't stop at saying they had that experience. It always comes with an addendum that trans men, as a group, all can relate to this experience. I don't know about the entirety of my demographic, but I never got even a little bit of what some of them talk about. I didn't even believe that women were scared of going out at night until I kept consistently seeing them say it, online or wherever, for years. I never realized catcalling was a thing until I saw some women complaining about it on reddit.
But they posit it as some sort of, you're safer than cis men, right? You know what it's like? Which, on top of being patently, demonstrably false in the case of myself and many other trans men, holds some unpleasant and often outright hostile implications about trans women. And they always deny it, but if you can't even conceptualize someone like me who grew up gnc, and never got the bulk (or any?) of whatever we consider to be 'female socialization,' what does that say about what you think trans girls went through, growing up? I don't want to speak for them, as I've never experienced that firsthand, but I can guarantee that (if you're even a little bit obviously trans) people don't treat you like a cis kid of the opposite gender. By and large, they don't get treated like cis boys.
It just makes me mad that we're taking this inaccurate framework that (ever so conveniently) puts trans people into the box of our assumed birth gender, and trying to fancy it up and use it with a faux-progressive veneer; never mind the way that transphobes use it to bar trans women from being athletes, or using the bathroom, or having access to any gendered resources they need. It would be bad enough to try and dust it off and use it even if it were largely accurate, due to the aforementioned connections to outright transphobia, but it literally is patently false. Not in all cases, obviously, but why are we trying to revamp this untrue, inaccurate generalization and pretend that we can make it 'trans-inclusive?'
