If your parents and adults loved you as a kid, then you never had a reason to question them, no matter what they said. That's a great thing! You had trustworthy people in your life! But they taught you bad shit, too (hopefully by accident), so you're accidentally repeating it.

YOU WILL NOT GET ANYWHERE BY BEING MAD AT YOURSELF THAT YOU DIDN'T CATCH THIS OR HAVEN'T FIXED IT YET.

So don't do that.

No one can tell what you're thinking until you do something. If you're not sneering and leaning away, or starting a scene? No one knows or cares. Thoughtcrime isn't a thing. You're not in trouble for, and let me emphasize this here, *believing the things you were taught as a kid*.

What you DO need to do is say this to yourself: "Hunh, I feel really uncomfortable for a shitty reason. I was taught this as a kid, and the people who taught me that probably wanted to keep me safe. They were wrong, and this person ISN'T dangerous, but my mom thinks ABBA is fashionable and my dad sometimes wears bell bottoms. Sometimes my family is dumb, so I'm going to sit back and enjoy my bus ride instead of taking Mr. Bell Bottoms entirely seriously."

And then sit back and relax.

Sometimes people teach us stupid shit. Sometimes it's bigoted shit. But you don't need to freak out about you or them being secretly evil; just saying 'wow, that's dumb, I'm ignoring it' will get you a lot farther here, because odds are, that really is all that happened. Think it through, then relax. That's all you need to do here.

Haven't figured out a politic way to word this but before saying someone/thing "makes you uncomfortable" please ask yourself this important question: is it any of your fucking business

Y’know, I feel like we don’t give the writers enough credit when it comes to Soren

So often when a character is the “comic relief”, they start off with dynamic personalities and then lose them as the season go on (looking at you Cat Valentine and Steve Palchuk), but not Soren

No, Soren somehow manages to jump between being comic relief and genuinely serious and caring seamlessly. And it’s all the same character, too! He doesn’t feel like he’s switching personalities they’re just other facets of who he is and it’s amazing!!!

I will bet you that you are choosing the nuclear option of high-octane megafuel supernova magic where you pump fast-burning, high-intensity energy into vessels likely not designed for long-term energy storage.

Because repeatedly exhausting yourself is not a good way to increase your magical endurance, I think it is likely that your spellcasting strategy has locked you into a cycle of near constant high-energy output with no reserves left over to undertake techniques that actually allow you to get stronger, nor any reserves left to build long-lasting magical vessels that conserve the power you give them.
