This is an interesting idea, and I don’t have anything to point blank to disprove it entirely, but I personally don’t see that as being likely with the evidence were given.
To your point, T’Pring does say “There was also Stonn, who wanted very much to be my consort, and I wanted him” - using the same language for what she would be to Spock were they married. She also says she will “have” Stonn in all scenarios and the word ‘have’ can imply ownership.
T’Pol is also being forced into the wedding with Koss with the promise that Koss (his family) will reinstate T’Pol’s mother, who recently was fired from her job.
In both scenarios you might be able to argue that these power dynamics are genderless and just happen to come down with women being less powerful. Spock is from what must be THE most powerful family on Vulcan and would surely be matched with someone from another powerful family. (I also believe Sarek, a politician who wants Spock to be an example of Vulcan-Human Excellence, would arrange a marriage with a family of high import) T’Pring then assumes the position of the Powerful in her relationship with Stonn.
With T’Pol and Koss, it’s obvious that he’s the one with power if his parents are able to reappoint T’Pol’s mother. Koss also states his father (a senior minister) has a large amount of influence, able to get T’Pol in contact with “the finest doctors in the province.”
However, I personally can’t see these examples being simply a case of who has the most power or influence because of how gendered the laws we see in place are.
Regardless of the circumstances of the individuals, it seems clear to me for the reasons I outlined in my original post that women, not men, are the ones who do not have any guaranteed way to reject a man - making them always the subjugated. But again, that could just be the case in the examples we’re given, where the men happen to have more power than the women.
Delving deeper into the T’Pring example, this is the entirety of what she says:
“You have become much known among our people, Spock. Almost a legend. And as the years went by, I came to know that I did not want to be the consort of a legend. But by the laws of our people, I could only divorce you by the kal-if-fee. There was also Stonn, who wanted very much to be my consort, and I wanted him. If your Captain were victor, he would not want me, and so I would have Stonn. If you were victor you would free me because I had dared to challenge, and again I would have Stonn. But if you did not free me, it would be the same. For you would be gone, and I would have your name and your property, and Stonn would still be there.”
Something here is notable to me but it’s in conjunction with something T’Pau says: “Thee are prepared to become the property of the victor?”
Combine this with T’Pring saying “If your Captain were victor, he would not want me, and so I would have Stonn.”
If Vulcan marriage law determined the Powerful and the Property by something like wealth, prestige or influence, T’Pring would surely be the powerful one when compared to Kirk - a Human (out worlder) captain who would have no accolades on Vulcan, who is indeed part of the Starfleet which Sarek and T’Pau seem to look down on. Surely an ostensibly high society woman like T’Pring would be the Powerful in that case and not have to worry about Kirk’s choice. However, she specifies that if he were the victor he wouldn’t want her - implying that HE would still have to be the one to reject her, that he’s still the one in power and her freedom is reliant on his wishes just as it would be if Spock were the victor.
This, in conjunction with T’Pau’s words (asking if T’Pring is prepared to "become the property of the victor”) tell me that all of this IS gendered. T’Pau notably says this before T’Pring chooses or indicates a champion. Because of that, when T’Pau says the line above, literally ANY man present might be her champion (there are no women present other than T’Pau and T’Pring). This means, essentially, that no matter WHO T’Pring chooses as her champion, she must be ready to become their property. We’ve established that T’Pring is likely from an extremely powerful family, perhaps even second only to Spock’s. Thus, it isn’t about power or prestige - it’s because she’s a woman who will become a wife and being a wife means becoming Property of a Husband in Vulcan society.
Personally, I interpret T’Pring’s use of the word ‘consort’ as a personal choice rather than it being a law/societal label. She’s the only one who uses the word (Spock uses ‘wife’ and T’Pau says ‘property’ or ‘woman’ - Stonn also says ‘woman’ <- These are all gendered) Perhaps T’Pring is placing herself in a position of power which her society does not afford her when finally able to speak with Spock one-on-one. However, she also emphasizes the mutuality of her and Stonn’s affection - which I think is also important.
She knew she did not want to be the consort of a legend and Stonn wanted (very much! < sorry but I personally just love ‘very much’…it’s so romantic to me) to be T’Pring’s consort AND she wanted him.
To delve even deeper, I think it’s interesting how this is phrased. “There was also Stonn, who wanted very much to be my consort, and I wanted him.” T’Pring says that Stonn wanted to be her consort and she wanted Stonn - NOT that she wanted Stonn to be her consort. If you think about it that way, perhaps she’s even saying that she disagreed with his original proposal to act as less than an equal to her.
When she goes on to speak about the myriad of ways things could shake out (the multitude of men who might own her) she emphasizes that she would still have Stonn but in the end does she say “And Stonn would still be mine?” or some other equivalent? (for example, “But if you did not free me, it would be the same. For you would be gone, and I would have your name and your property, and Stonn.” <- counting him among the Things[™]) No. She says, “And Stonn would still be there.” I love the almost passive inevitability of that line. No matter what, Stonn will be there. Twice she verbally sets him apart from ‘consort’ or ‘possession’. “Stonn wanted to be my consort - and I wanted him.” and “If you were gone I’d have xyz - and Stonn would still be there.”
I believe personally (though it’s up to individual interpretation of course) that T’Pring here is not saying that she will put herself into Spock’s lawful role of Powerful in her relationship with Stonn but is instead emphasizing their mutual desire to be together no matter what - whether she is trapped in a marriage with Spock, Kirk, whomever she ‘belongs’ to, Stonn will still be there and she will still want him there. Whether or not she can have her freedom, she will have Stonn. It’s the only factor she doesn’t ever have to worry about. Reassuring, almost soothing when faced with the reality of her status as Property to be won and possessed.
Anyway, all of that is why while it’s an interesting idea for the marriage Powerful/Property dynamic to be non-gendered, I personally don’t see that being the case and I don’t see T’Pring using the word ‘consort’ in relation to Stonn as being inconsistent with what I’ve said. To me it seems clearer the more I think about it (and I did have to think about it after reading those tags, I went back and thought and wrote and finally reached this conclusion!) that this is a Male/Female issue in Vulcan society given the examples provided for us the audience that I’ve seen.
Thinking about marriage/women's rights on Vulcan Some may think that T'Pring not being allowed to divorce Spock was because he was going through the pon farr but if she were allowed to divorce him at all she probably would have done that a long time ago, confirmed by T'Pol when she's speaking with Koss, who isn't suffering from the pon farr. She says that he can choose another mate (without invoking a fight it seems: note the difference between a 'mate' and a 'challenger') and after he makes it clear that nothing she says will change his mind about marrying her, she finally threatens to declare a kal-if-fee. It's clear that Vulcan women cannot divorce/refuse to marry a man they've been betrothed to under any circumstances if A) He himself doesn't consent to ending their marriage or B) She doesn't have someone else waiting in the wings to be given to in his stead. Though, if the challenger she selects fails to win the fight, she'll have to marry her betrothed anyway unless (again) he decides he doesn't want her after the challenge. That seems like an incredibly unfair system, heavily biased towards men. SNW is an alternate universe in many obvious respects but most egregiously in that T'Pring has a lot of non-canonical agency over her relationship with Spock. It's interesting to me that Vulcan society has women in many positions of power and treats women as equal to men from what I've seen despite these laws. We don't really see Vulcans exhibiting a misogynistic attitude towards women in general but in TOS (perhaps because of its general writing style but it's still interesting to note) both Sarek and Spock take on patriarchal attitudes specifically regarding wives. Amanda says that 'of course' Sarek commands her because "he is a Vulcan and I am his wife." It's worthwhile in my eyes to note that she specifies 'wife' instead of attributing this attitude to women as a whole. Again, with TOS' writing style it wouldn't be out of place for her to say "he is a man and I am a woman." Spock, while in a pon farr induced irritation, states that it's "undignified for a woman to play servant to a man that isn't hers" - again implying that there's something specific about being a Wife in Vulcan society which is different from being a woman in general and demands subservience to a husband. This could perhaps stem from the extreme sense of ownership that Vulcan law has permitted men to have over women. A woman legally cannot point blank refuse marriage. There is no option which guarantees she won't have to marry her betrothed other than death. When T'Pau speaks of T'Pring she refers to her as being 'property' and Stonn, before being interrupted, states he's made 'the ancient claim' - we don't know what this is because he gets cut off but it's obvious they're both using the language of Vulcan law. Men are permitted true freedom to choose. If a woman wants to choose someone else to be with there is no option available to her other than the kal-if-fee which might result in the death of the one she wants to be with. And, if her lover fails, her husband can still just decide he wants to marry her and she'll be forced to. T'Pring gives two scenarios: One where Spock 'frees' her and one where he doesn't - it's still ultimately his decision which is clear when he ends the conversation with "Stonn, she is yours." This again isn't just because of the pon farr as T'Pol also goes through this. Koss can choose another mate and when the option is talked about there's no implication that this would result in any sort of fight (both by the casualness of its mention and by the fact that there's no formal word for it unlike the kal-if-fee.) Also, the fact that Koss does eventually grant T'Pol a divorce and it's all fine means that T'Pol isn't lawfully required to have another man waiting if her HUSBAND doesn't want her. It's ONLY required if SHE doesn't want her husband. Tradition must take precedence over individual desire UNLESS!!! You're a man. Then it's fine. Like, your parents might not be happy but legally you're golden.
#chara analysis#star trek#vulcans#T'Pring#T'Pol#this was interesting to think about!! while I ultimately stand by my original assessment I was glad to have a chance to go back and really#analyze T'Pring's speech at the end there - it gave me a better understanding of my point of view and a new way to look at old info!#I was able to put previously amorphous feelings into words...nodnod#I love language and analysis....there's so many ways to interpret even a single sentence!

It hurts to realize that other trans people might not think of me as trans just because I'm transmasculine. It also hurts because a lot of my people don't respect all of my pronouns (I go by the pronouns he/they/it, and every single time I tell somebody they always have a problem with the it part of my pronouns, including my therapist, who, by the way, is also part of the LGBTQIA+ community). It just hurts. We're all part of the LGBTQIA+ community, can't we all just respect each other? Transgender isn't solely transfemine, it/its are valid pronouns, I can be on the aroace spectrum and still have crushes on fictional characters, I can be transmasculine and wear makeup, there is no one way to be aroace, or trans, or any other label. The fact I'm transmasculine and still wear makeup does not make me any less of a boy.
i'm sorry you've been going through this. it's not right for people to put you through this, especially other queer people.
this attitude has been going on for far too long. it's obvious now more than ever that a lot of people just straight up do not see trans men and transmascs as trans. as you said, trans isn't solely transfeminine or trans woman. transmasculinity and trans manhood are legitimate ways to be transgender or transsexual. its absolutely mind numbing that people just don't wanna talk about it, but it's the truth. i will keep posting experiences like this and taking about it until people start to get that you can't keep treating trans men and mascs like we aren't trans. we ARE.
absolutely insane to me that it/its, a set of pronouns that most english speakers use on a daily basis, is somehow the tipping point for a lot of people. the trans allyship instantly leaves their body the second they encounter someone who uses an extremely common set of pronouns.

so you want to read more this year!
i answered an ask about this recently, but i thought i would make a post about it so i could (hopefully) be a bit more clear and helpful. i specifically wanna help people who used to read a lot, but have fallen off for a while now. obviously everyone is different, but i hope at least a few of these tips can help you.
let yourself read slowly. you don't have to speedrun every book you read; in fact, it's usually better if you don't. forget the way that you used to race through books when you were younger. let yourself take time with them now. especially if you haven't read much lately, it's going to take you longer to read now than it used to. and that's okay! a lot of stories are better when they are experienced slowly, so you can absorb them more.
stop viewing reading as a competition. you aren't trying to win a pizza party or special field trip now, so there is no need to compete with other readers. so what if someone else read 10 books in the time it took you to read 1? other readers have nothing to do with you. the only person you should be "competing with" is yourself.
that said, setting goals and challenges for yourself can be a life-changer. i'm not just talking about a goodreads goal, although setting a numerical goal is often helpful. but i mean setting more broad goals, like reading more books of certain genres, or more books by authors of color. setting goals without specified quantities can help you because it's not a pass-fail situation, it's just a personal challenge. there are also all sorts of reading challenges you can try, like reading a book for every letter of the alphabet. you can find any sort of reading challenge on the internet; the storygraph has a whole section dedicated to challenges, both site-run and user-run. you can even create your own! popsugar also runs a very popular year-long reading challenge.
experiment with book formats. physical books, e-books, and audiobooks allow several different formats for people to try out! figuring out which formats work best for you help you to enjoy reading and gain more from the experience. don't listen to people who say audiobooks aren't "reading." if you enjoy audiobooks, listen to them! the only person you have to answer to is yourself.
experiment with different genres. even if you think you know exactly what genres you like and don't like, try branching out and trying books outside of your comfort zone, especially if you haven't read a lot lately. you never know when your tastes might change!
don't be afraid to DNF or pause a book. the thing about reading as a hobby is that it's supposed to be fun. yes, you should read books that challenge you, but this doesn't mean you have to make it to the end of every book. if you're hating a book, if you dread picking it up, if it bores you: just quit. that way, you can find a book you actually enjoy to read. trying to force your way through a book you're hating just usually makes you read less in the long run.
utilize your public library if you have one. this one always feels obvious, and yet people always seem to forget it. libraries exist for a reason! a lot of libraries have apps where you can check out e-books and audiobooks, so definitely use those if you have them. if you want to read a physical copy of a book that your library doesn't have, you can probably request an interlibrary loan! and if they still don't have it, you can usually request that your library order a book.
take advantage of books in the public domain. most classics are now in the public domain, which means that you can read them for free on Project Gutenberg, and if you use apple products, you can usually find them as free ebooks on Apple Books as well. if you're looking for audiobooks, Project Gutenberg also has those. you can also check out LibriVox, which is a volunteer-based organization that provides free audiobooks of public domain books. you can find a lot of their books as free podcasts on spotify!
reread old favorites. this is my personal favorite way to get out of a reading slump. familiar favorites are great for getting your brain back into reading mode without having to introduce yourself to a brand new story. you can also take the opportunity to annotate, if you're into that! speaking of which:
don't let the idea of annotation intimidate you. if you're not being graded, you can do whatever you want with annotations! i know some people who choose specific themes and tab them in their books, which is cool. some people just highlight favorite quotes and passages, and that's good too! you can pick out foreshadowing, make notes on things you find funny or interesting, even draw on the pages! if it's your copy of a book, then you can do whatever you like with it.
challenge yourself to write reviews. even if it's only a few sentences, it makes you engage more with the story, which is a good thing! you don't have to share these reviews, you can keep them in a private journal or document if you like. but it's good to make you think more about the book you've just read.
check the trigger warnings. if you have any triggers whatsoever, you definitely want to check trigger warnings before you read a book. you can usually find them by scrolling through goodreads reviews, or by googling "[book name] trigger warnings."
let yourself get distracted sometimes. i know this sounds counterintuitive, but hear me out. if you're in the middle of reading and suddenly you start thinking about scrolling through social media or something, finish your chapter and then let yourself scroll for a few minutes. it's better to give yourself a few minutes to scroll and then come back to your book, rather than continue "reading" while just thinking about scrolling. i'm not saying to put down your book and devote yourself to your instagram feed for the rest of the day; just take a few minutes, then get back to your book. do it between every chapter if you have to. or, if you decide you want a snack or something to drink, go get it! you don't have to sit still for hours on end if that doesn't work for you.
find someone, anyone, that you can talk to about books. it can be a person irl or online, a friend or coworker or family member. you can join a book club or a discord server. just, if you can, find someone to talk to about the books you're reading. this is another way to engage more with your reading material, because you're thinking about it in conversation, and it's also a way to get more excited about the things you're reading! you don't even have to be reading the same books. you can also recommend books to each other, and discover new favorites this way.
try reading more than one book at a time. mix and match genres, time periods, and styles so that you have different books going for different moods. that way, if one book isn't holding your attention, you have another one that will.
social media is cool, but don't let it control you. let social media bring you new book recommendations and friends, but don't let it dictate what you read or how you organize your bookshelves. just because everyone else is reading something doesn't mean you have to, if you don't want to; just because everyone else has a picture-perfect reading nook doesn't mean you need one, too. you aren't less of a reader because you don't spend hundreds of dollars on new books, or because you don't read the most popular genres and authors. you also aren't less of a reader for reading what's most popular! again, you aren't in competition with anyone else. don't let bookfluencers steal your joy.
obviously, this list isn't all-encompassing or universal. this is just the advice that helped me get back into reading after years of barely touching a book. i hope there is something on this list that can help you, if you need it. happy reading!

I'm having. So many Uchiha Houhua thoughts. Like I know so much of his existence is geared towards survival but. The hc of Uchiha's use of war fans,I have to wonder if he ever finds him half heartedly fiddling with a delicate seeming Tessen, remebering an old friend now far gone, just as razor edged and yet still missed.
And it may be my own fondness for the concept of a spider summons but so much of spider behavior is "Please Leave Me Alone" which is very on brand for Houhua. Camouflage and careful, delicate and yet still so dangerous, setting invisible webs between leaves and waiting for the worse predators to pass. (Also using spider venom to fuck with his heartrate for the possum jutsu maybe?)
The entire concept is so delightful and I'm very thankful to have seen all your little tidbits on it
YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! YOU SENT ME A STRAWPAGE I JUST SAW IT LAST NIGHT BUT FELL ASLEEP BEFORE I COULD COPY PASTE IT TO REPLY TO HERE!!!!!!!!!!!
Omg hi funny seeing you here (<- batting my eyelashes, twirling my hair)
Anyways I love this, actually. Like, a lot.
Ough,, Houhua unable to look at war fans without thinking about both SY and SQQ,,,
I think it's actually especially fun to think ab like. The difference in fighting style between (Japanese) Uchiha styled war fan techniques and (Chinese) Cang Qiong Sect war fan techniques. Not even counting the much more specific Qing Jing Peak style of fan techniques.
That also goes double for sword techniques, especially considering the plans for Houhua to go into sword smithing.
Houhua has literal decades of the Cang Qiong sect sword style engraved into his fucking bones. Into his soul, even, if you consider the whole 'cultivators swords are usually tied to their spirits in some way' thing.
He's going to have the worst time trying to switch to Uchiha sword styles-- though I think the sharingan + the unfamiliar, tiny body without all the muscle memory of his past life will help him at least get his footing
,, Hey, is muscle memory held in the actual muscle or is it held in the brain? That's a thought.
ALSO. THE SPIDERS.
I. I cant lie to u, you are making an amazing argument rn for him having a spider summons. I love the idea sm, I am now faced w the ultimate dilemma of choosing between a spider contract or a rat contract.
On one hand, they both carry undertones of like 'there might be a bit more to see here than just a coward' bc of the associated (mostly negative) connotations of rats and spiders both being like, underhanded, sneaky, that sort of thing. But the spider tho,,, ough,, it also shows a side of implied manipulation that might be fun just from the angle of like.
Yeah you'd expect him to have some sort of rodent contract but hes actually been designated spider coded by the universe, actually.
I forget if I posted this snippet yet or if I only posted it on the discord but take this really quick:
So like. This moment, where Kabuto bets Houhua will get some form of rodent contract (for obvious reasons) while Hana bets he gets a fucking worm. But now make it even funnier bc they're both wrong and he got a spider contract.
This could also maybe play interesting into Houhua and Kabuto's sort of ongoing quiet squinting in eachothers direction as they both go 'this guy isnt as simple as he seems...' as Kabuto mentally recalculates some of Houhua's behavior
This also can just bring out a pretty fun "hey so lets talk about in universe stereotypes and associations when it comes to summoning animals" which I just think is fun. Like, culturally, what does it mean to have a contracted animal? Do some people treat it like they might astrology personality tests? Do some people think its just nonsense and pure luck or not that deep?
For some people it probably isn't that deep, while for others (specifically those who might come from families who always have the same contract, or others who sign blank contracts where they really are sent to an animal that matches them best) it really is a good way to try and analyze them
And like. Where does that leave Houhua?
This could also just be fun for when he interacts w Orochimaru, who fucking hates bugs (insert my own personal favorite hc here that he hates them largely in part due to the many times he was stuck inside his own rotting body, infested with bugs)
And like, Houhua and Orochimaru will inevitably interact, though I'm not 100% sure on how it goes just yet. But like. Houhua having a spider contract and Orochimaru coincidentally hating spiders. Could be funny.
PLUS YOU'RE SO RIGHT FOR LIKE. SPIDER VENOM POSSIBLY PLAYING INTO HIS PLAYING DEAD ACT. UR SO SMART FOR THAT.
Anyways. Yeah ok I think spider contract Houhua would go pretty hard for multiple reasons. Give him a big fluffy spider with big ol eyes.
Houhua can maybe get another contract further down the line and then get the rodents he deserves.
Im so glad that you've been enjoying the SQH in naruto au nonsense I've been pumping out!! I'm like. Halfwayish done with chapter one but it keeps getting longer. I'll get there eventually.
I really need to update my tumblr vault with all the recent additions to the au but want to update it when I post the actual fic so I can link the fic to the chapter, so I'm holding off on that
Anyways, thank you for your ask!!

Decided to look for the post in question and had a very wild ride.
Realization: the entire thing where most people just wanted to support Palestinians and then some extremely vocal people wanted to kill all "Zionists," as long as they could redefine "Zionists" to mean "I divided Jews into Good Jews and Bad Jews, and then pretended the Bad Jews are a secret global movement in favor of genocide,"
is really just 100% tankie bullshit.
Like, so much so that I hesitate to make the joke about the Venn diagram being a circle, because it might be too obvious that the Venn diagram is a circle.
This was a weird appetizer for that journey:
and there were a lot more weird moments along the way, and I'm just gonna say this:
you would be amazed how easy it is to search for "Hamas" or "PFLP" or "popular front" on such a blog and find many posts to report for promoting terrorism. And I wish people would do that more often.
What happened to the Peacock admin from @tmasc-confessions is genuinely fucking disgusting and it’s insane that TRFs can just get away with blatant antisemitism as long as they disguise it under “oh no I just hate all men so that includes transmascs” (Which shouldn’t even make any SENSE but they have their weird delusions that we’re mostly Jewish people?!!! I dunno any Jewish transmascs irl!!!!)
Remember how the Nazis used to believe that Jews were at the root of “degeneracy” such as transgenderism? Remember that? Remember how they thought trans people were either Jews OR had been influenced by us?
That’s exactly how you sound when you say shit like “transmascs are the Israelis of the trans community” or “if we killed all transmascs Jumblr would be empty”. You sound like a Nazi!
#depressing discourse#tankie bullshit#y'all when the guy said power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely?#if you have the power to overthrow your government and control the area through violence#ummm you might want to calculate how absolute a kind of power that is#if you have the power to burn down an area larger than the gaza strip in one day while killing hundreds and hundreds of people by hand#there is just a TINY TEENY WEENY CHANCE that your power is too absolute#like yes the idf managed to stop them after that but having the power to control all public speech in the Strip for 17 years....#and to do a handcrafted murderkill across an area larger than the one you control#that is a lot of power-over to yield#and it's unfiltered. unregulated. it's not like the fighters go back to gaza and face public condemnation or potential sanctions#or internal investigations or third-party investigations or journalistic investigations or any kind of checks at all#it's purely top-down power-over#there could be protests by the people of gaza? why yes there sure could if they weren't still putting ALL THEIR PROTEST ENERGY into#stopping hamas from continuing to run and ruin their lives#the protest movement against hamas in gaza is literally called the “We Want To Live” movement#that says it all really

i wasnt gonna say any more about this on tumblr dot com but ive been watching tubbos stream out of curiosity and ruminating on it, because seeing screenshots and transcripts of dreams response video out of context the bullshit is blatantly obvious when you lay it out, but actually watching the video, he's just as persuasive as he was in 2020 when he made that response video about the speedrunning drama. even though the math doesn't check out, he speaks very confidently and presents bullshit things as if theyre obvious and true, it's easy to see why someone might believe him. so of course im sure tommy enjoyers around the world are worried that people will actually genuinely believe him and what that will mean for tommy.
i personally find it humorous how none of that vitriol and frothing at the mouth is present in the video itself, it's all been channeled into the sloppy bullshitting and forgery and baseless accusations. you have to understand, this video's target audience is his casual youtube audience consisting of ipad babies who watch his regurgitated minecraft slop and whoever else is tuning in for dream vs. tommy drama (aka, very few), he's trying VERY HARD to convince casual viewers that he's been VERY NORMAL about all of this and he's just making a little 9 minute video in response being very very nice and all sunshine and rainbows about tommy. yes they might have their disagreements but in the end dream is vewy proud of you tommy PleadingEyes (girl.)
but with this, assuming normal casual person tuning in at worst their conclusion is going to be these people both seem cringe. in terms of what a youtuber can be accused of, none of his accusations of tommy are that egregious even if they're baseless and bullshit because the intent is not to DESTROY TOMMY FOREVER it's to undermine tommy's credibility and get himself off scot free. in terms of the grand scheme, what he's accusing tommy off is just being an unserious clout chaser who's made some questionable business decisions, which is quite nothing. and dream is a loser for caring about something so nothing. when ive been looking around this seems to be the conclusion for people who are not waist deep in dream smp sludge
of course, it's infuriating that he's doing this, this seems to be his go-to when he receives criticism. to just attack other people's credibility to not even Have to address any criticism himself. why does it matter what they said? they clearly can't be trusted. unlike me, dream, a very normal and sane person who definitely didn't froth at the mouth with vitriol on twitter and onstream for 3 hours and make several reddit posts and then a youtube video because god forbid some people think he's an unpleasant person behind the scenes. i wonder why they think that!
#dreamwastaken#tommyinnit#discourse#to be clear i also think what tommy uploads can be regurgitated minecraft slop#i do not hold slop against anyone. i enjoy the slop#of all the things id criticize someone for it would never be for making slop

Agh he's so cunty I can't take it
Pray there isn't some rule against it💀
Post-overblot tho, he'll have no problem with the way you express yourself, after all it's not hurting anyone or causing that much chaos
Unless you wear your uniform egregiously wrong, or influence someone else to do so... Then he'll definitely have a problem
Just show him that it's what makes you feel truly comfortable and happy and he'll give in soon enough in the face of genuine self expression
He might even EVENTUALLY wonder what it'd be like to dress like you... Not that he'd ever admit it
If you do figure it out (he's very obvious with the longing glances he throws at every new outfit or makeup style you put on) and offer to help him try it out, he'll do so hesitantly
A part of him still aches as he's still unlearning the harsh rules engraved in his mind all throughout his life, so be patient and compliment and reassure him all throughout this self discovery process and he might just show up one day with a dark lipgloss on
Or perhaps a dark jacket
Truly he could pull off a full goth outfit AND he's so weak to praise you could probably convince him to at least try it on 👀
❖ 𝐋𝐞𝐨𝐧𝐚 ❖
This guy...
Despite being from the SAVANNA he's constantly in dark clothes and leather💀
I'm a firm believer that Leona is a sucker for confidence of any kind
So I'm sure he'd be very into your style, or more so, the fact that you're confident enough to strut about dresses like that
It'd definitely draw his eye👀
He definitely enjoys the rebellious aspect of it
Plus the guy barely wears his uniform correctly so he'd be the last to care about what you're wearing and whether or not it's school appropriate
"Wear whatever you want, I can fight" type of boyfriend
If ANYONE tries to give you a hard time for it, even the staff, he's got your back without question
Leona rocks dark eyeshadow, PLEASE do his makeup for him
It's a pretty intimate process and it might just put him to sleep but he'll look so great by the end off
Totally up for trying the style out... So long as you do all the work picking it out. And if it's not too uncomfortable. Otherwise he couldn't care less what you put him in
❖ 𝐀𝐳𝐮𝐥 ❖
Sweet Azul🥺
Might be less inclined to match with you than others, at least in public
He's got a reputation to keep and the suit adds to it
But also he's completely weak to the one who's managed to lock down his heart, so you could probably convince him to try it at least once if you really try ;)
Oh but seeing him get red in the face once you put him in a matching ensemble? Unmatched 🥺
Plus, Azul holds a lot of influence over NRC, staff included, so you don't need to worry about getting in trouble for it🫡he's got your back
Azul strikes me as someone who'd be quietly appreciative of those who dare stand out without shame as well as someone who pays attention to how the smallest details in someone's appearance can change their perception
He might feel inspired to be just a little more bold with his looks when you're around
Especially if it makes him more intimidating when doing business 👀
❖ 𝐊𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐦 ❖
Sunshine incarnate ☀️
I doubt he's used to seeing people dressed that given where he's from
So it'd definitely catch his eye
He wants to know everything!! Why you want to dress like that, where you get your clothes, what other styles you tried before this one - everything from the most mundane information to what's actually interesting, he'll excitedly listen to it all
(Jamil is so incredibly grateful that you're able to keep him in one spot for so long💀)
If you offer to put together an outfit for him? Oh he's over the moon, stars in his eyes and everything
Doesn't matter what you put him in, he'll wear proudly at least once before deciding if it's for him or not
In love with the idea of matching with you🥺
Truthfully, I don't think it'd be for him, given how he usually dresses, but he'd never dismiss it without at least trying
Also he's rich, so if the clothing you want is hard to find or expensive? Have no fear, Kalim's credit card is here :D
❖ 𝐕𝐢𝐥 ❖
This diva😌
He deeply values beauty and the work that goes into it
So I feel like he'd be the one to appreciate your look the most!
Tho he is very particular about his style and how he presents himself, I think he'd absolutely be willing to try your style out and if he feels it suits him? He would have no problem including aspects of it into his everyday wear
Some goth styles might put him off tho - anything too messy/chaotic would probably not be too appealing to him. For himself, that is
If you're his s/o he no doubt holds your self expression - your own sense of personal beauty, highly and will therefore encourage and help you with it in any way he can
Like doing your makeup! Just show him how you like and he'll work his magic no problem, he's incredible at it and sees the activity as an intimate time for bonding so he enjoys it quite a bit
He just loves making his baby even prettier🥺
Definitely goes shopping with you, making sure to only give you absolutely honest feedback to ensure that you look your best always
And you don't need to worry about odd stares or anything like that, people know that if you're hanging around Vil and he has no problem with how you're dressed, then it must be the height of beauty!😌
Plus he's quite protective of your honor, after all if you're with him, you're worth every expense❤️
❖ 𝐈𝐝𝐢𝐚 ❖
If he ever decided to put more effort into how he dresses (or left his dorm more often, for starters) he could totally rock it
Unfortunately, he's an anxious mess and dressing in such a way, at least in public, would definitely not help with that😭
But behind closed doors, he's your biggest hype man
Helps you take pictures, shop online, come up with outfit ideas (tho his may be a little unorthodox...)
He just thinks you're super cool, and admires the confidence necessary to dress that way
Does his best to work up the courage to actually compliment you to your face, hair pink in embarrassment, lips stuttering and eyes flickering nervously
Be patient with him, he's trying his best and you're just... A little intimidating to him when you're in your getup
He could definately use some help with his styling and he'll listen intently... whether he'll actually put it to use is another story... and if you even get to see it
If he does decide to dress like you, he'll take a cute little embarassed picture to show you, since IRL is a bit too nerve-wracking for him (please telll him he looks pretty he'll melt completely)
Hyping you up from the sidelines but no less than the others! :D
❖ 𝐌𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐮𝐬 ❖
My goth king 😊
Honestly, look at how this man dresses and tell me you dont agree
He's definately somewhat goth style adjacent without realizing (he doesnt know what you mean by that... all the gothic he knows has to do with architecture)
He's so curious about non-fae customs... and just about anything to do with you tbh
He's a lil obsessed
You'll definitely have to explain to him why you like it BUT HE WILL NOT JUDGE!! He's just very curious about you and your style
Just tell him you'd like to see him in your style and he's yours. Loves to feel included, will let you dress him in anything you like and will wear it with pride
Might be more partial to more regal goth styles... They remind him of his grandmother and he just thinks they look very noble and severe - which as Briar Valley royalty he definitely enjoys
We've all seen his majestic eyeshadow, he can rock any makeup no question
Please do his makeup, and don't mind the way his eyes grow wide as he admires your focused face, your careful fingers, how softly you handle him, despite knowing how strong he is
He's utterly enchanted by you is all, he thinks you look the perfect picture of a queen, dark and regal, you'll fit perfectly together when the time is right😌👀

I don't know if your requests are still open, but can you do one of Moonjo with a s/o hybrid cat? As there are many cats in the boarding house, I thought about this
Seo Moon-Jo - Cat Hybrid!Reader Headcannons
Synopsis: my glorious king with a cat hybrid reader
A/N: sorry i haven't been posting guys i've been so busy ugh !! Hopefully this will be enough for now..
Warnings: Seo Moonjo.. this is self explanatory
➠ He's totally obsessed with you, I think that's obvious
➠ He's just so utterly infatuated by the fact you're a cat hybrid
➠ The first few times you interacted, he'd always either tug at your tail or pinch your kitty ears
➠ And obviously he'd have the creepiest smile on his face while he does it
➠ Just finds you to be really cute so he's constantly playing with your cat like features to see what your reactions to it are
➠ might call you kitty a few times too honestly just to tease you
➠ He usually enjoys watching people eat human meat but for some reason he likes watching you do it a million times more
➠ Maybe because he can see the way your nose twitches as you pick up the smell and how you're clearly on edge before even having a bite
➠ He also loves seeing how quickly your ears and tail go on high alert when he suggests that what you're eating may be human meat
➠ At some point he decides that he wants to keep you as a cute little pet so he starts keeping around you more and being sweet but that creepiness never really leaves him
➠ Once he's successfully torn your heart open and buried himself into it, he's a lot more touchy somehow
➠ it's like his hand is glued to your head or tail at times
➠ If you do suspect anything suspicious about him and try to question him, he will give a very harsh warning tug to your tail to keep you in check
➠ Don't even think to try run by the way because he will NOT let that slide
➠ you won't get far either even if you can run fast.
➠ After your attempt to escape, he definitely just decides to stop hiding any part of him and decides to punish you
➠ soft pet names but condescending words and mean actions when he's punishing you
➠ likes to scare you sometimes by waving his tools around and making some subtle threat that clearly tells you he will do something to you if you test his limits
➠ this might sound crazy but he probably makes you wear a collar
➠ I feel like he wouldn't make you wear it in public but in other settings you absolutely are wearing a collar like some house cat
➠ especially during sex
➠ Surprisingly, he does let you go out quite often
➠ Sure, he might always be looming behind you with an unsettling smile that may be making other people uncomfortable but at least he's nice enough to let you go out sometimes !!
➠ Also, you know how some people put bells on their cats so they don't lose them?
➠ He totally put a bell on you
➠ He most definitely gave you a bracelet with teeth but there was also a bell attached to it so he could always hear you if you wander around
➠ If you happen to actually jump like a cat when you get scared, do expect him to constantly try scare you
➠ He's just absolutely silent somehow whenever he sneaks up behind you to watch you carefully and then whisper something in your ear so you'd jump
➠ loves your fear what can i say
➠ and, just for the record, he absolutely pulls your tail during sex too
➠ Felt like that needed to be said
➠ He just loves the sound you make when he tugs at it and the way you wince
➠ Overall, he likes your kitty features and he may be a little too focused on them
"Did you really think you could run, kitty?" Moonjo spoke as he looked down at you with a small smirk. His hand had a firm grip on your tail as if daring you to make a move right now and see what happens. He was honestly amused at your attempt to escape. Perhaps he needed to remind you that you were his kitty and it would stay that way for as long as he can breathe. He raised his other hand and put it on top of your head. "Guess I'll have to show you what happens to kitties who try to run away from their owners,"

What annoys you about fandom culture
Oh that’s a spicy question.
Had you asked me a couple of years ago, my answer would be very different from today. I was a proud member of the SuperWhoLock fandom on here as a kid (I still shudder to think about it), and that was usually what I first thought of when the word “fandom” was uttered.
I think I’ve had a pretty negative view on it for a very long time. Mostly I saw fandom culture as cringe. I later got diagnosed with autism and found out that many of the things I found awful and cringe about fandoms, was me internalizing the insecurity I had about my own hyperfixations and I was projecting that onto other people who were obsessed or passionate about certain subjects.
Now “cringe” is a term I’ve tried to kill in my own life. It has been difficult for me to be really unashamedly into something, but you’re on this blog, so you know I’ve certainly gotten somewhere with it lol. I also first and foremost would never put someone else down about their interests, no matter how borderline obsessive they might seem and how they express that obsession. Because if it happened to myself, I know how things like that would crush my enjoyment when I was younger. It’s a very “let people enjoy what they enjoy”-sort of mind set I’ve tried to develop.
Now, if there is something that annoys me, a part of it is related to the statement above: don’t yuck other people’s yum. It’s not too bad on tumblr (in my limited experience). A few negative posts might make it into the tags every now and again, but I don’t mind that too much. You’re allowed to hate the characters I love.
Any kind of media should be open for whatever interpretation the viewer/reader gets out of it. I even like reading Raphael-hate sometimes if the person has some arguments that I haven’t heard before. As you might have noticed from my humongous list of analyses posts, I like picking things apart, and I like seeing other people doing the same, even if it might be in a negative light.
What I don’t like is when it’s: “fuck this character! how can anyone like this character”. Like sure, fair, but don’t tag that specific character (I know that my examples have been pointed towards Raphael, but I know that some Raphael fans have done the same the other way around). I don’t particularly like the Emper*r, but I’ve tried my best to make sure those posts don’t end up in their tags.
These are things across characters though, but it happens within a specific fandom too. I’m not a huge fan of the posts that are like “this character would never (insert statement)”. I don’t like when a version or an opinion of a character becomes canonized through the fandom and presented as fact. This ties back to the thing about me liking to hear about multiple interpretations and that I think all of people’s personal interpretations are valid. It makes it so that media becomes set in stone and then you are unable to gain anymore from it. It ruins it. You don’t agree with a specific version of a character? Then don’t read it. Or do, and maybe gain a new perspective.
My other points would be those that are obvious: don't harass voice actors or any other real life people because you like a specific media or character. Don't be silly.
I also want to be fair and say that this is the first fandom that I have been super active in in years, and I've said again and again that I love this fanbase for how open and kind it is. I think it's the perfect fit for me tbh. I have dipped my toe in other, more popular fandoms but I have quickly found them too overwhelming, because you have to cater to very specific interests in order to even be heard if you are making content, which quickly creates a very limited eco-system and thus some of the problems above might emerge. Here there is a little bit of everything and when you type in the "raphael bg3"-tag, it isn't loaded with thousands of pages of content anymore. That makes me more curious about things I wouldn't normally be into and that broadens my horizon a bit. I like that.
(Thank you for the ask <3)

Like following the Theory of Structural Dissociation? We were mentally ill as hell as a kid because of genetics, and so it makes perfect sense to us that our brain just wouldn't integrate normally following that theory. That being said we are critical of it and while we do entertain that our system fits under it, we don't agree with it being the sole theory for why systems develop, and if it were true we generally feel like the implications of that should be discussed outside of DID/OSDD.
2. We don't all agree on this. We just know it happened when we were very young and just that it happened before any real trauma would have occurred.
The two biggest camps for origin theories in our system are complicated spiritual beliefs and complicated neurodivergence. Either way we think our multiplicity was just something that was always destined to happen whether it be because of past lives or not having a neurotypical brain from birth.
There's also a group that thinks it might be because of genetics but that avenue is hard to explore for obvious reasons.
3. Probably not but it's not that straightforward.
4. And that's why this isn't that straightforward. We've had DPDR symptoms from a young age probably caused by OCD and dissociative symptoms from trauma happened later. Because of this we probably could qualify for a diagnosis of OSDD depending on the psych. That aside we also have poor memory, but likely more caused by ADHD.
5. We have no idea. System member formation for us takes months to even years. At that point, the why someone formed is much harder to pinpoint, and it seems to be just something that happens naturally in our case.
There's also spirituality that overlaps with it when it comes to walk-ins, but that's even more complicated.
6. Also a therapist that actually knows what we're talking about. We'd love to be out as a system more in general, but people are extremely awkward when dealing with it.
Having access to trauma recovery and dissociation resources that isn't gatekept or triggers our depersonalization would also be nice.
7. Eh it's also not that straightforward. We've met some systems with DID we could relate on absolutely no level to while we've seen some we can relate to deeply. We've been reading essays by other systems and it's amazing how often we might have nothing in common with another system but they are also the first time we've ever seen another system "get it" with certain concepts.
The other day we were reading something by a nondistinct median system where the way they do personal symbolism and symbolic communication is extremely similar to us in a way we've never seen, but we had nothing else in common.
Like we do feel alienated in some posts relating to DID/OSDD, but we've also seen some systems with DID/OSDD who also feel alienated or dehuamnized by the way that community presents things. We also don't fully relate to endogenic communities and some spaces certainly have common points we don't fit.
8. Trauma happened after system formed :v
Hi! My name's Rowan. I'm the host of The Orchard System, A traumagenic DID system. I'm posting to address endogenic systems and ask a couple genuine questions. None of these are intended to cause offense or in any way discriminate against any group of people.
How did you form (scientifically)?
Why did you form?
Do you consider yourself disordered?
Do you have similar symptoms to systems with OSDDID, such as dissociation, memory loss, loss of sense of self, etc.?
How do your alters/headmates develop? What do they develop due to?
I've seen this going around: What are some resources that would help you that you don't have access to?
Are there any other substantial differences you have noticed between yourself/yourselves and OSDDID systems?
And, lastly, if you don't mind (I put this one at the bottom because it is 100% optional) if you are traumatized but not traumagenic, how does that work?
okay thanks byeeeeeeee

[Looks around] Ok I don't think anyone is looking...
Ok so I just wanted to let out some design ideas I have for a C.yberpunk 2077 Panchi and some little facts I've thought up about them! The main thing being that their Design is heavily inspired by C.elty from D.urarara! Mainly just the Blue/Yellow/Black Helmet with cat ears and maybe they use a motorcycle like she does! The outfit itself would probably be quite different but I've yet to decide on the rest of the outfit
Speaking of the helmet, it's a pretty noticeable part of them! Mainly because they rarely take it off. Seeing them without their iconic helmet is a big sign of trust for them! It's not limited to romantic partners, it could also be for close friends as well! Though if you notice that a certain rockstar mentions how they've seen Panchi without the helmet...no you don't- Speaking of that rockstar! If you see Panchi wear a piece of jewelry that they got from that rockstar years ago and still wear it in present day...no you don't-
Oh and also they don't have a lot of cyberware on them, the most noticable (if not the only) piece of cyberware they have is one on their Left Eye. Though I've yet to figure out the details of it ^^
#pan rambles#Afjsnfjsfn I think only like...4 people know which C.yberpunk guy caught my eye#But making this post might make it more obvious for more people-#But yeah! that's what I got so far about them!#Usually my s/is designs come first and the lore comes later! So apologies if you were expecting a bunch of lore ^^“#Also Shout out to my dear pal Ash <3 You've been such a great help with this s/i!#Couldn't have done it without you!!

yk when i think about it, especially when im watching the anime with people who havent read the manga, the reason a lot of people who only watch the anime and didnt read the manga misinterpreted saikis character so badly is definitely in part because of how damn fast paced the anime is 😭
like that little smile and eye shine frame is there for not even half a second in the anime, so its easier to miss it and assume that he really did only finish those workbooks to get coffee jelly ☠️ its much more clear if you get a good look at how he reacts here that hes just a silly little tsundere and a fucking liar
#this might be really obvious but im silly#LET ME YAP !!#dont read this as me making fun of anime only fans#i was literally one until like a few months ago#i just think its unfortunate how different the vibe is#obviously i love the anime though#there are still some things i straight up don't understand how people miss though#like people who watch the whole anime and still think saiki hates teruhashi or nendo specifically#like ? he has some of his most affectionate scenes with them#but i think maybe its because they missed so many of the more subtle details#that by the time they see saikis offu or him saying he and teruhashi make a great team.. it appears more sudden to them than it really is#so they either completely ignore those scenes or dismiss them as fanservice#ugh#its. literally not fan service at all and makes perfect sense if you pay attention#idk how u can watch the sweetest line ever 'we're invincible together' and deny that saiki cares about teruhashi#in general its actually just impossible to end the show thinking he hates any of his friends unless u just ignored things on purpose#even if u ended at the first season like a lot of people#but im just saying i guess i get why its a little less obvious in the show#saiki k#tdlosk#the disastrous life of saiki k.#saiki kusuo#meows post

Pages from trying to keep a little sketchbook-scrapbook type thing going for two weeks lol. I gave myself specific rules in hopes they might all end up more cohesive/consistent seeming, but alas, scribbly chaos reigns, it seems
#sketchbook#scrapbook#Actually I feel like these are kind of incomprehensible in photo form like.. In person holding the book its easy to look at#but as images on this scale I feel like there's so much tiny little text and small scribles and stuff you'd have to 'right click > open#image in new browser tab > zoom in' just to actually really see the thing. which for 7 images is excessive lol.. so. probably not the best#medium for sharing really but. I suppose I thought they might look cooler lined up next to each other. The whole part of using a#limited color palette is so that maybe they kind of seem to have more consistent color schemes or something throughout. but I dont#know if they look all that 'related' or not. I think these types of challenges I have always sucked at because I am a being of clutter and#excess. I can't just do like one little simple nice looking design and have that Crisp Neat calligraphy with evenhanded perfect lines#and perfect symmetical composition and etc. etc. Like some poeple post very aesthetically clean and cohesive looking sketch#pages or something but I simply cannot hold back the brain impulse to add more. more. more. Fill every single blank space with color#or a little drawing or a sticker or something. I take away 500 things and there are still a million there. Even when I thik I'm being#'simplistic' I'm still usually being 2x more complicated and cluttered than the standard or whatever lol. I guess thats clear from my#outfits/costumes though too. Like whatever that saying is from that person about something like 'before you leave the house take off one#more accessory. you dont need it' for me is like.. 'before you leave the house. add 10 more accessories. and 6 more layers. and another'#AAANyway. I wonder if also maybe some people would try to plan theirs in a way to look good or something or like.. plot things on the page#before placing them. I did sometimes have a theme for a day kind of (like day 10 I ended up finding a few gold and green things and then#was like.. hey... what if I looked for a few other things and only used these colors today') but aside from that I was just slapping down#stickers randomly and working around them to fill the page. Maybe a lot of neat minimalistic asthetic design is about planning and#having a Vision set ahead of time. instead of just complete random whatever. doodling whilst watching youtube videos or eating lunch. It's#a miracle actually I've managed to not spill any food on the book the whole time. anyway.. I do wish the highlighter really showed up. the#scanner kind of makes the colors look VERY different to irl. But also it got much clearer images than just camera pictures of pages. alas..#..Still oddly enjoy the phrase 'Salisbury Steak gently kissed with industrial pollutants'#probably my favorite section of 'gluing random papers and things onto the page' lol#Also I wonder if it's super obvious that I literally never ever use references when I draw (save for the few freakish looking youtube#face sketches) since everyone is always in the same positions and looking very similar ghhb. This could have been a good opportunity to#work on not solely drawing from my mind and try to do more Dynamic Experimental scribbles. NO. Same exact eye for the 90th time#be upon ye. But I guess it was meant to be casual 'daily doodles'. True 'practice' would make it seem too effortful like a full project. hm#(lol the one decimated pencil in the set... never hand me a writing utensil. i will passively destroy it somehow. shaving the sides of a#pencil off with a knife or snapping a pen in half as a nervous fidget without even realizing i've done it. sorry to the drawing implements)

jenndoesnotcare replied to this post:
Every time LDS kids come to my neighborhood I am so so nice to them. I hope they remember the blue haired lady who was kind, when people try to convince them the outside world is bad and scary. (Also they are always so young! I want to feed them cookies and give them Diana Wynne Jones books or something)
Thank you! Honestly, this sort of kindness can go a really long way, even if it doesn't seem like it at the time.
LDS children and missionaries (and the majority of the latter are barely of age) are often the people who interact the most with non-Mormons on a daily basis, and thus are kind of the "face" of the Church to non-Mormons a lot of the time. As a result, they're frequently the ones who actually experience the brunt of antagonism towards the Church, which only reinforces the distrust they've already been taught to feel towards the rest of the world.
It's not that the Church doesn't deserve this antagonism, but a lot of people seem to take this enormous pride in showing up Mormon teenagers who have spent most of their lives under intense social pressure, instruction, expectation, and close observation from both their peers and from older authorities in the Church (it largely operates on seniority, so young unmarried people in particular tend to have very little power within its hierarchies). Being "owned" for clout by non-Mormons doesn't prove anything to most of them except that their leaders and parents are right and they can't trust people outside the Church.
The fact that the Church usually does provide a tightly-knit community, a distinct and familiar culture, and a well-developed infrastructure for supporting its members' needs as long as they do [xyz] means that there can be very concrete benefits to staying in the Church, staying closeted, whatever. So if, additionally, a Mormon kid has every reason to think that nobody outside the Church is going to extend compassion or kindness towards them, that the rest of the world really is as hostile and dangerous as they've been told, the stakes for leaving are all the higher, despite the costs of staying.
So people from "outside" who disrupt this narrative of a hostile, threatening world that cannot conceivably understand their experiences or perspectives can be really important. It's important for them to know that there are communities and reliable support systems outside the Church, that leaving the Church does not have to mean being a pariah in every context, that there are concrete resources outside the Church, that compassion and decency in ordinary day-to-day life is not the province of any particular religion or sect and can be found anywhere. This kind of information can be really important evidence for people to have when they are deciding how much they're willing to risk losing.
So yeah, all of this is to say that you're doing a good thing that may well provide a lifeline for very vulnerable people, even if you don't personally see results at the time.
#jenndoesnotcare#respuestas#long post#cw religion#cw mormonism#i've been thinking about how my mother was the compassionate service leader in the church when i was a kid#which in our area was the person assigned to manage collective efforts to assist other members in a crisis#this could mean that someone got really sick or broke their leg or something and needs meals prepared for them for awhile#or it could mean that someone lost their job and they're going to need help#it might mean that someone needs to move and they need more people to move boxes or a piano or something#she was the person who made sure there was a social net for every member in our area no matter what happened or what was needed#there's an obvious way this is good but it also makes it scarier to leave and lose access#especially if there's no clear replacement and everyone is hostile#i was lucky in a lot of ways - my mother was unorthodox and my bio dad and his family were catholic so i always had ties beyond the church#my best friend was (and is) a jewish atheist so i had continual evidence that virtue was not predicated on adherence to dogma#and even so it was hard to withdraw from all participation in church life and doubly so because the obvious alternative spaces#-the lgbt+ ones- seemed obsessed with gatekeeping and viciously hostile towards anyone who didn't fit comfortable narratives#so i didn't feel i could rely on the community at large in any structural sense or that i had any serious alternative to the church#apart from fandom really and only carefully curated spaces back then#and like - random fandom friends who might not live in my country but were obviously not mormon and yet kind and helpful#did more to help me withdraw altogether than gold star lesbians ever did

i feel like im not making any sense but does anyone else feel like there are stories that let u run with them and ones that spell everything out for you
#im reading that post that says artists are directors of audience reaction and not its dictator:#'you cannot guarantee that everyone viewing your work will react as you are trying t make them react. a good artist knows that this is what#allows work to breath. by definition you cannot have art where the viewer brings nothing to the table ... this is why you have to let go of#the urge to plainly state in text exactly how you think the work should be interpreted ... its better to be misinterpreted sometimes than#to talk down to your audience. you wont even gain any control that way; people will still develop their opinions no matter what you do#im thinking abt this again cuz i was thinking maybe the thing that lets adventure time work so well the way it does is cuz it doesnt#take itself too seriously that it gives the audience enough room to fuck with subtext and then fuck with them back yknow. i think it was#mentioned somewhere that they werent even planning to run with the postapocalyptic elements that are hinted in the show but changed their#mind after the one off with the frozen businessmen and dominoed into marcy and simons backstory. on the other side there are stories that#explain too much to let the story speak for itself and i think it ends up having to do more with the crew trying to lead ppl in a certain#direction than expand on what they have and i see a lot of this with miraculous. like when interviews and tweets are used as word of god in#arguments and it becomes a little stifling to play around with it knowing the creator can just interject. u can say its the crews effort to#engage with its audience but it feels more like micromanaging. and none of this is to say there ISNT room for stories that spell things out#theyre just suited for different things. if sesame street tried abstract approaches to themes and nuance itd be counterproductive#a lot of things fly over my head so i need help picking things apart to get it- but it doesnt have to be from the story itself. ive picked#picked up or built on my own interpretations listening to other ppl share their thoughts which creates conversation around the same thing#sometimes stories will spell things out for you without being so obvious abt it that it feels like its woven into the text. my fav example#for this might be ATLA using younger characters as its main cast but instead of feeling like its dumbed down for kids to understand why war#is bad its framed from a childs point of view so younger audiences can pick up on it by relating to the characters. maybe an 8 year old#wont get how geopolitics works but at least they get 'hey the world is a little more complicated than everyone vs. fire nation'. same for#steven universe bc its like theyre trying to describe and put feelings into words that kids might not have so they have smth to start with#especially with the metaphors around relationships bc even if it looks unfamiliar as a kid now maybe the hope is for it to be smth you can#look back to. thats why it feels like these shows grew up with me.. instead of saving difficult topics for 'when im ready for it'#as if its preparing me for high school it gave me smth to turn in my hands and revisit again and again as i grow. stories that never#treated u as dumb all along. just someone who could learn and come back to it as many times as u need to. i loved SU for the longest time#but i felt guilty for enjoying it hearing the way ppl bash it. bc i was a kid and thought other ppl understood it better than me and made#feel bad for leaning into the message of paying forward kindness and not questioning why steven didnt punish the diamonds or hold them#accountable. but im rewatching it now and going oh. i still love this show and what it was trying to teach me#yapping#diary

worst trope is found family separating as soon as the antagonist is dealt with.
#yes this is about voltron and it's also about guardians of the galaxy#what james gunn did to gamora in GOTG3 is criminal#i understand why they did it but to end with her GOING BACK TO THE RAVAGERS?#fail end.#seriously#and it doesnt even make sense bc ofc the high evolutionary isnt going to be the last problem they would deal with#in just a few years they encountered 5 people trying to destroy the universe and who were incredibly difficult foes#youre finna tell me there will never be a situation like that for the rest of their lives?#gtfo#and mantis' end was dumb too not even sorry#i can tolerate drax and nebula's ends.#but everyone else?#stupid#even peter's ending was fucking moronic. bro can pop in on the weekends he doesnt need to be a live in nurse for his grandpa#it's just such a major letdown and sucks everytime a director/author decides to split up the found family permanently#at least with voltron you can rationalize it by saying 'oh they never really wouldve hung out with eachother if they werent forced to for#voltron and werent forced to fight a war together.' and i can see it bc none of them DO hang out together before voltron#they barely even hang out AFTER they become voltron#keith and shiro hang out bc of the adoption/fostering/mentoring thing. lance and hunk MIGHT hang out bc they were already teammates#it's important to note that we never really see hunk and lance being bffs. theyre just friendly to eachother.#this becomes even more apparent once hunk and pidge actually become friends. it's very obvious hunk was just being friendly to lance.#just friendly.#(take this with a grain of salt bc ive only watched the whole series one time. i refuse to acknowledge anything after se 2.)#so yeah it does make more sense theyd all go their own ways but not even the small friend groups stay together at the end!#pidge and hunk are in completely different galaxies from eachother. same with keith and shiro#lance is isolated from all of them bc post se 3 writing team genuinely hated him and failed him as a character.#but GOTG3? they CHOSE to band together time and time again. they CHOSE to be a team. they CHOSE to be family#for every single one of them to say 'nah fuck that i want to be on my own bc uhhh reasons!' is a lame ending.#period.#gotg3
