Dig In and Cheer On: Enjoy Your Favorite Meal with the Thrill of the Olympics As the excitement for the Paris 2024 Olympics builds, sports fans worldwide are eagerly anticipating the competition, hoping their favorite athletes will bring home gold, silver, and bronze. Amid the frenzy of tracking medal counts and rooting for national teams, an intriguing parallel can be drawn between the Olympics and the culinary world. This connection is not just about athletes' diets or sponsorships; it extends to how our favorite comfort foods, like burritos and cheeseburgers, can metaphorically reflect the diverse tastes and preferences represented in the Olympics. Let’s explore this comparison by examining how different food items can represent various Olympic events and their corresponding medal counts.
Burrito (Bowl or Regular): In the world of sports, versatility is key, much like the burrito. Whether it's a regular burrito or a burrito bowl, this dish represents adaptability and a blend of flavors, mirroring how athletes must adapt their strategies to different events. In the 2024 Olympics, countries will aim for a diverse medal count, just as a burrito encompasses a variety of ingredients. For example, a nation strong in swimming might target multiple golds, akin to how a burrito combines rice, beans, and meat into a harmonious whole. order online
Cheeseburger: The cheeseburger, a quintessential American dish, symbolizes classic strength and reliability. Just as the cheeseburger remains a staple in American cuisine, the U.S. is expected to be a powerhouse in various Olympic sports. Historically, the U.S. has been strong in track and field, swimming, and gymnastics, akin to the cheeseburger's enduring appeal in American food culture. As we follow the medal count, the U.S.'s performance in these key events will be closely watched, much like the cheeseburger's consistent presence on menus. order online
Cheese Pizza: Cheese pizza, with its simplicity and universal appeal, represents the universal excitement and shared experiences of the Olympics. Just as cheese pizza is a go-to favorite for many, the Olympics offer a common ground for people around the world to unite. This year, expect countries with strong team sports, such as basketball and soccer, to vie for top positions, reflecting the pizza’s broad appeal and the collective enthusiasm for these sports. order online
Pad Thai: This Thai dish signifies a blend of traditions and cultures, much like the diverse range of countries participating in the Olympics. Pad Thai, with its mix of sweet, sour, and savory flavors, parallels the rich variety of cultural backgrounds represented at the Games. In 2024, watch for countries with strong traditions in martial arts, like Thailand, to make their mark, akin to how Pad Thai represents a fusion of culinary traditions. order online
Chicken Quesadilla: The chicken quesadilla, with its blend of flavors and textures, can be seen as a metaphor for the strategic and multifaceted nature of Olympic sports. Athletes in the 2024 Olympics will need to showcase versatility and adaptability, just as a chicken quesadilla combines chicken, cheese, and spices in a delightful package. Expect to see athletes from various disciplines, such as gymnastics and diving, demonstrating their ability to excel in different aspects of their sports. order online
California Roll: This sushi roll symbolizes innovation and modernity, much like the newer Olympic sports that debut in each Games. The California Roll, a fusion of traditional Japanese sushi with American ingredients, mirrors the introduction of sports like skateboarding and surfing into the Olympic roster. These events are set to capture the interest of a younger audience, reflecting the roll’s fresh and inventive approach to sushi. order online
Fried Chicken Sandwich: This popular item signifies comfort and satisfaction, akin to the joy of witnessing an athlete's hard-earned victory. Just as the fried chicken sandwich offers a hearty and fulfilling experience, Olympic victories bring a sense of accomplishment and pride to athletes and their supporters. Look for athletes in high-stakes sports, such as track and field or swimming, to deliver performances that leave a lasting impact. order online
Caesar Salad: Caesar salad represents a balance of simplicity and sophistication, much like the way some Olympic sports combine fundamental skills with advanced techniques. The classic Caesar Salad, with its crisp romaine lettuce and creamy dressing, mirrors the grace and precision required in sports such as figure skating or synchronized swimming. As these athletes compete, their refined techniques and performance will be closely scrutinized, much like the careful preparation of a Caesar Salad. order online
Buffalo Chicken Pizza: Combining the bold flavors of buffalo chicken with the classic pizza base, this dish reflects the excitement and intensity of the Olympics. Just as the Buffalo Chicken Pizza offers a spicy and dynamic twist on a traditional favorite, the Games feature high-energy competitions that captivate audiences. Watch for sports like boxing and wrestling to deliver thrilling performances that keep fans on the edge of their seats. order online
Manicotti: Finally, manicotti, with its rich and comforting layers, represents the depth and complexity of the Olympic Games. This Italian dish, with its stuffed pasta and savory sauce, parallels the intricate and demanding nature of events such as decathlon and heptathlon. Athletes competing in these multi-discipline events will showcase their ability to master a range of skills, much like the layered richness of manicotti. order online

A Legends Baby
“Ash, dude…You had to have been high or something,” Liam looked at Ash skeptically.
“I'm telling you, it was Bigfoot. The guy had to be almost eight feet tall, hung like a horse by the way, and had feet big as a Hobbits,” Ash threw up his hands for example.
“You expecting me to believe Bigfoot piped you on the ski trip AND no one else seemed to notice? No fucking shot,” Liam rolled his eyes.
“Yeah, well, it happened. What? Did you want me to take a selfie while he was fucking me?
“Yes. If it was THE Bigfoot, I would have!”
Ash crossed his arms and went back to his room. “Fine, don’t believe me.”
~3 months later~
“Fuck, why am I gaining so much weight,” Ash struggled to button his pants.
Over the past few weeks Ash had been gaining weight. Particularly around his lower abdomen. His belly button has gotten slightly shallower.
Ash suddenly felt nauseous. In an instant he's bent over the toilet bowl, hurling last night's burrito into the water.
Liam dropped a pregnancy test on the table.
Ash blinked.
“I'm not pregnant,” Ash said.
“Oh, so you took a test already?” Liam cocked an eyebrow.
“No…”
“Uh huh. You're Bigfoot’s or some super lumberjacks baby daddy, I'm telling you,” Liam said.
“So you believe me now?” Ash laughed and shook his head. “Bigfoot is not even the same species as us, He couldn't get any regular human pregnant.”
Liam shrugged and walked out the bathroom. “Fine, remember me when you get a deal for ‘I didn't know I was pregnant’ episode.”
~7 months later~
Ash closed his apartment door and nearly fell to his knees. So much pain, so much pressure, drowned him as soon as he got away from prying eyes. He clung to the wall, face scrunched and sweat on His brow. Ash's gait was wide as if he was preparing to squat.
For the past few hours, the pressure and routine tightening of his belly had gotten so much worse than the days prior. Brief discomfort has become aggravating pain. The work day had been bad enough with all of the comments about his appearance and the sweltering summer heat.
He tossed off his sweatshirt to reveal the cause of his pain.
His stomach was huge, round, and taut. His belly button disappeared into the skin of it, replaced by stretch marks only slightly hidden by hair. It hung low, only being cradled by his palm. The waistband of his drenched sweat pants curved dramatically beneath it. He stumbled forward into the apartment, his gait wide and waddle slow.
“Fuck, this can't be real. Please no,” Ash grunted and held his tightening belly. “Just need to rest…”
He still denied the obvious conclusion, even after 7 months. There was no way, despite contractions, huge belly, and fluid as evidence.
At least the apartment was empty, so he could save some dignity. Liam was away on a vacation out of state. No help or snarky commentary from him was going to come.
Ash gripped the frame of his bedroom door. His mouth and eyes widened as a heavy weight dropped into the cradle of his open cervix. Something was dropping into his pussy. His eyes widened as he realized the shape of it was round, hard. He wanted to just get to his bed, lie on his back, and close his legs tight.
A strong contraction crashed into him in response to that thought. Ash cried out, digging his nails into the door frame. His stomach twisted. The instinct to bear down overwhelmed him. The huge object surged forward as he pushed unconsciously. It took everything in his power not to fall to his knees.
His vagina quickly filled tightly with what he was creating for weeks. Ash's toes curled in his shoes in pain. He couldn't walk to his bed with his hips so splayed out.
Ash's pussy bulged around the solid round object. The burn nearly drove him to tears, but then the contraction stopped. He dry heaved and looked down at the pool of fluid dripping from the bowled out crotch of his sweats.
The same pussy Bigfoot had cum in 10 months ago was now spread wide and bulging through his sweatpants. Ash trembled as he slowly accepted the truth he'd been denying.
Ash untied the drawstring and allowed his pants to fall to his ankles. He reached over his belly, towards his crotch, knowing and fearing exactly what he'd find. His fingers immediately felt the wet, hairy head of a baby between his fingers.
Ash clasped his other hand over his mouth as he felt the huge head spreading his pussy under his palm. His whole body trembled in disbelief.
He should have listened to Liam. He was pregnant and giving birth. His stomach and back seized, sending Ash into another chorus of crying. His pussy spread wide into a painful circle around the hair head.
“Fucking! Get out!” Ash screamed as he slid further down the doorway into a squat. His belly, hung between his thighs, seized in on itself. The pressure and power behind his push drove the baby forward and spurts of fluid gushing out onto the wood floor.
His body lurched as the head and shoulders rocketed out of his pussy with a rough gush of fluid.
He gasped in relief, but continued to push regardless. The body didn't budge and offered Ash nothing but a severe pain in his cervix.
Ash stood up painfully with a deep ragged breath, head and shoulders between his thighs. Why didn't he just fucking listen to Liam. He just had to have Bigfoot's cock, couldn't just snap a fuzzy pic of him and run like normal people.
Another contraction came, he pushed. Nothing happened. No matter how hard he pushed, he couldn't get the baby to descend any lower. Something was stopping the baby from moving lower. The pain was already infuriating.
Desperate, Ash carefully wrapped his hands around the body. His belly began tightening and his back started to lock up. With an almighty roar, Ash pushed and pulled. His body twisted, the muscles in his body rippled as whatever was making the baby stuck started to give. Ash could feel something big come out of his cervix and into his canal. He bit his lip, tugging Bigfoot's baby out of his pussy centimeter by centimeter.
“Fucking hell!” He screamed out.
He threw his head back as his pussy rapidly spread apart . The burn hit him hard and then left as quickly as it came. Ash's body finally released its grip on the baby, his stomach deflating instantly as his child slid out of him. Ash's legs gave out beneath him, leaving him to fall against the wall.
Ash tiredly stared down at the heavy baby in his hands. It had his dark black hair as a mane on its head. But what really caught Ash's attention were what was at the end of the kids legs. The hairy, already crying baby had larger than normal feet. Because of course it did. This is Bigfoot's Kid after all.
“Never fucking without a pill again…” Ash murmured, slumped against the wall.

Turning
l Brock Faber l Brock Faber x Dancer l masterlist l
"Five, six, seven, eight." Maggie Walker counted out loud to herself as she spun around.
"Knock, Knock" A voice called into the studio she was renting. Brock popped his head in. "Hey Mags" he smiled.
Maggie ignored that man standing in doorway, continuing to work on the big turn sequence, it needed to be perfect. She needed to be perfect. She wasn't going to be the one that messed up by falling out of a turn or hesitating on the aerial. The dance team had a legacy to uphold.
"Hello? Maggie? I brought dinner, you want some?" Brock interrupted her concentration by holding up a bag full of their favorite foods from Chipotle.
"What you and Sammy not want to cook again?" She chirped noticing what he had brought along to share with her.
"Something like that or maybe we don't have any clean dishes." He joked along with her. He started to unpack the bag. Setting up a makeshift picnic on the side of the room. He looked up at her when he was finished expecting her to come eat.
"You go ahead start eating. Gotta keep working on this." Maggie began again.
She pliéed deep, pushing off the floor, going into the same turn she been working on. She went into that side aerial. She must have place her foot in the wrong spot because instead of flipping over she slipped and fell.
It was whatever. Maggie got back up, prepping to do the sequence one more time. The result same as before. She hesitated before the flip and help. Slamming her fist on the ground in frustration.
"Take a break Margret Walker. Eat something, you can try again afterwards" The rookie defenseman rushed over to help the dancer up.
Maggie nodded letting Brock guide her to the food that for sure had cold by now. Nonetheless she still began to eat the chicken, rice, bean, cheese and salsa burrito bowl. She used a chip to scoop up a chunk of the mixture for a bit of added crunch.
"Feel better?" Maggie nodded with a toothy smile. She made sure not to eat too much of the filling meal, she had to get back to work and she had a late night class to teach.
The elite dancer got into place. She taking a deep breath, she pliéed and began to spin but it was short lived. She started felling the nerves again. Getting into her head, Maggie lost count and fell out.
"Do you think you could count for me?" Brock agreed and Maggie instructed him on the tempo.
Maggie got back into her starting position as Brock started to count. "one, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight" Split jump down to a roll, formation change, roll again, pirouette á la seconde times 10, aerial into three more pirouette á la secondes, and finishing off with two regular pirouettes.
"I got it!" "You did it!" The two friends cheered jumping towards each other in excitement. They ended closer than they thought with their noses practically touching and his hands on her waist.
Brock's eyes were focused on her lips. He felt as though he should kiss her. It's not like her hasn't ever thought about it before. It was more that, her brother's one of his good friends and teammates. And you don't date your teammates sisters. But she was so pretty and funny, kind and -
"Oh my god, is that the time? I'm gonna be late for class." Maggie slipped away, hurriedly collecting her things. Her feet were out the door before she turn back to him. Standing on her tip toes she kissed him.
Pulling back she grinned at him "We'll finish this later"

SNOWFALL SEASON 5 Franklin (PART 4)
Pairing: Franklin Saint x Quirky Black Fem Reader!
Warnings/Type: Slow Burn. Use of the n-word.
Summary: You have a very wild imagination. But what happens when imagination bleeds into reality? Will you rise above it, or crumble and fall? (Part 1) , (Part 2) , (Part 3).
Word count: 6,283k Comment and Like to show some love. It's oh so appreciated and encourages me to write more for ya'll!
The sun had barely risen over Los Angeles when you found yourself staring up at the ceiling deep in thought. Your brain. You wished you could shut it up. Maybe then you could have gotten a decent amount of sleep. You turned toward a warm glow that cast over the city and rolled out of bed with a feeling of hunger building inside your stomach. That cold bowl of cereal had your name on it. Easy, and simple, yet dull and unamusing. You scrunch your nose riddled with tough decisions. Eat that, or go with the second choice that would mean facing the world again.
The desire for something warm and fulfilling won you over.
You didn’t do much to prepare yourself for the walk, except brush your teeth and wash your face. Forget doing your hair or dressing because you never could be sure who you would run into. You weren’t in the mood to meet anyone anyway. Eager to beat the morning rush, you put some pep in your step. The streets were semi quiet and as peaceful as they would ever be while you made your way down the familiar path with a morning air that felt crisp and refreshing.
“Well what a pleasant surprise muchacha, I hardly ever see you this early.” Enrique leaned on the countertop of the Mr. El Taco food truck bright eyed and bushy tailed.
Messy haired, you were hoodie bound in a pair of shorts and sandals as you drug your feet all the way over, staring up at the Saltillo native. You'd been getting your smothered burritos from Mr. El Taco's for years. You'd even graduated to making it a regular stop on the days you had class. Had anything ever moved past something other than a crush, you might have asked Franklin to join you for a burrito. You had become what most would refer to as a regular customer the Zosaya’s could count on, but there would be no extending an invitation to Franklin now.
You nodded to his sentiment, offering the fluffy haired man a smile. “Yeah, guess I just wanted a change in routine. Everything I had at the house was cold and boring. Plus, I didn't really eat yesterday.” At Least, you couldn't remember eating.
One of Enrique’s thick dark eyebrows went up although he smiled back. “Lucky charms?”
You shook your head. “No, frosted flakes actually.” You huffed at the thought and pondered over the menu a second. “Let me get two breakfast burritos, egg and potato. And um, be generous with the chili please. I deserve it.” A melancholy frown settled on your face.
Enrique said something in Spanish to his colleague who'd been positioned in the background, then directed his attention back on you. “Muchacha. I’m getting a sense of. I'm in a bind and I might need advice from you.”
Another nod. “Hm. great perspective skills Mr. Zosaya, cause that’s not too far off.” You could see the other man skillfully prepare eggs, cheese, potatoes, and a variety of meats and vegetables into one order.
“Well hey when you come from a family like mine, it’s to be expected.”
A grin found its way back to you.“By that I'm sure you mean Fernanda.” A light chuckle rocked your shoulders. “I like your auntie. She's funny,” now the smile shifted into a smirk. “She has a very interesting style,” you added. “I never knew a lipstick could be so red on a pair of lips.”
“Yeah.” He laughed. “So what? You wanna talk about it?”
Out in the open where anyone could hear? That wasn't really what you had in mind. Spilling your most inner secrets and fears out in public was insanity. Aside from that, the paranoia was real. You never knew who might know Franklin, or vice versa. Just one more thing you didn't need to go wrong. You shook your head. “Nah. It's nothing that bad. I’m just being avoidant. Tryna dig my way outta a mess i’ve made for myself.”Not all the way untruthful. You just didn't come out with any pressing details. Or the recent failed spy mission that left you jaded.
Enrique rubbed at the long gray hairs on his chin. “Well the best advice I can give is to face the monster head on.”
A tilt of your head and you'd smacked your teeth. “What?” You were expecting something a little more, well insightful.
Enrique’s expression loomed in surprise. “Yeah, because messes don’t just go away. Like my abuela says. You let shit pile up, eventually you step in it.”
You scratched your head. You don't know how the topic of shit came about, but you went with it. “Hm. Well yeah, I guess that makes sense.”
Enrique nodded. “It does. Especially since she works on our family's farm. You’d be surprised how much horses can shit.”
What the hell did a farm have to do with Franklin? And again, why shit? You rolled your eyes and let the advice blow past you, wanting instead, background information on the photograph hanging up.
“Hm. That’s pretty. Where is that?”
“Oh, my home. Where my family is from originally. Isla Coronado in Ensenada Mexico.”
“Shoot. It looks all tropical, I love the color of that water. Bet it’s different. Sooo different from L.A. when you get into it.” You'd been to the beach twice, but never anywhere where the water reflected such a vibrant hue of teal. You closed your eyes a second to imagine yourself there and wondered why Saint and Juicy never thought to take a trip to Ensenada.
“Oh, so so different,” Enrique confirmed. “This area has very very warm water. Very clear, and bright. Attracts lotta white people. The tourists, you know.”
You burst out in a laugh. “Makes sense. It must be extremely costly to live there. They the ones got all the money, so. I believe it.” Saint and Juicy had money. Tons. They could do it. They were one of the promant couples.Young, black, intelligent, powerful, and in love. After all, that's how you wrote it.
“No no,” Enrique said, catching your interest. “Actually it can be pretty affordable, you just have to know where to look. What’s that saying? Not what you know but who.”
You nodded. Eyes glued to the picture. “Hm. Right, right.”
The other worker had sat a plastic bag on the counter. Enrique grabbed it and handed it to you. “Well here you go, extra chili.”
You pulled out the money to pay and made an exchange. “Thanks.”
Enrique handed you some dollars back from the twenty you'd provided him with the closing of the register. “No problem. Oh, and don’t forget,” He said with a wink. “Work through that pile of shit.”
…
Your stomach grumbled in anticipation of the first bite once you made it back to the apartment that morning. Flavor burst in your mouth once you boldly took it. You savored it.The combination of spices and fresh ingredients. It was Wednesday the 18th 9:30AM, the day you were supposed to be in Finance class. After eating both breakfast burritos and watching some TV you got dressed with the best intentions of facing the music and showing up that day. If you were gonna stand up to the judgment of Franklin Saint, you'd be damned if you wouldn't do it dressed to the nines! Black leggins but not entirely black. These particular leggins speckled with different shapes in light blue, yellow, red, pink, and white. Your lavender blouse did well as a complement to the wide belt you’d put around it. The purple and white converse went perfectly. You’d managed to slick your hair back into a bun after some work with the sock. Smaller scrunchies hugged the illusion as you wrapped your puff down. A simple chunky hoop earring and bracelet, you’d taken some time on your makeup. You especially highlighted your deep brown eyes and only applied a light color of pink to your lips.
But then, that was the difference between having a thought, and actually executing that thought.
Imagination could play tricks on the mind. Create all kinds of confidences that would never measure up in the real world. This had been one of those instances. You might have had the best intentions but the courage needed to make it all happen was no longer present. You stood at the door for a good five minutes with your hand on the knob before you kicked off your shoes and put your light jacket back in the closet, only to make your way to your room and change back into your pajamas with the sun still shining through your window.
You climbed in bed and pulled the sheets over your head thinking about your life. The good memories and the bad and how you’d slept through all of Tuesday like it never even happened. You couldn't face him. No amount of lies or pressure from the small part of your brain that held onto that bit of hardening logic helped you see it ending well. A public execution. You could envision Franklin raising his hand, the professor calling on him, and with the class silent, he would stand to his feet to seal your fate.
An annoying beeping noise woke you up at 1:56 PM. You shoved the covers off and stomped into the living room to reach for your purse where the noise was coming from. You dug around to pull out your pager and look at the number as your vision was still trying to clear itself. Franklin's number. You lowered your head and pressed the button to silence the alert. You placed the device on the table and headed back to your room, this time slamming the door shut.
The next time you were pulled from your slumber was around 4:34PM. The same annoying beeping had managed to usher its way under your shut door and beyond your blankets. You turned over and screamed as loud as you could into your pillow.
The next hours felt like a blur. You were very much a zombie, simply existing. The only thing you were certain of is that you called off work. You knew that one more incident would result in termination, and you needed the paycheck. Candy loved you but not enough to support a grown ass woman. You couldn’t be broke and homeless, although you had pondered on its way of indiscretion. You’d have nothing, no name, no residence and no way of Franklin Saint finding you. You shuttered into the cushions of the sofa when you heard the beeper sound. In any other scenario you would have waited by it eager for it to be him. But now it had become a sense of utter torture, and you weren’t far off from tossing it out the window into the street. Common sense stopped you, and instead you’d covered it with a pillow to mule the sound a little. Strangely enough you’d missed him. Skipping out on one Wednesday threw off your whole trajectory almost. It very much became the highlight of your week.
Another annoyance coming from deep inside your belly sounded and you moaned in distress at the hunger pains that followed after. The two breakfast burritos were scarfed down hours ago. Candy was still away so that meant fending for yourself when it came to food, but you had no desire to do anything let alone cook. You couldn’t order pizza because pizza reminded you of that night, and that night reminded you of him, and he had the one thing that would destroy everything that had to do with you and him, so it was all fucked. You bounced your legs kicking from the frustration you felt.
Why didn’t anything ever work out for you!
The worst part about the entire ordeal was that you hadn’t told anyone. You had to keep all the agony and grief held deep in your chest and it was driving you crazy. You thought of Candy again. As much as you wanted to respect her time with Troy, you needed her! You couldn’t wait for her to come back, desperate times called for desperate actions.
You sat up and grabbed the phone and pulled the receiver to dial in her number along with your code. The code that you both decided to use if ever in the case of an emergency.
You had only used it one other time when you were cleaning the goldfish bowl and JohnJohn fell on the floor. Needless to say the result had ended with you both deciding anymore pets were a bad idea. You took a deep breath and hung up the phone, throwing a glance at the window behind you to look at another day you’d let pass you by.
By the time the ringing had started you forced yourself up and to the bathroom. You were definitely in need of a good soak.
The sun was beginning to set, casting a warm orange glow across the skyline when you walked out with a partially wet head at approximately 6:52PM. The same sky held a similar appearance to the one that had greeted you that morning. Time sure could fly. It locked you in a beautiful dystopian made up specifically for you.
The towel trapped any excess water. A large scrunchie brought your hair back into a medium leveled ponytail. When you let it go the puff ball of tangles and curls sprang as some water ran down the back of your neck. You didn’t feel like combing it out. Your head already felt a mess and all you needed was one more thing to bother you. Combining your hair out could feel like a workout on one arm. Any other time you’d make it your mission, but you didn’t care. You grabbed one of the bandana’s, a pretty pink color as you placed the base over your forehead and tied the back around the ponytail.
From the window you had a perfect view of the busy streets, the tall skyscrapers, and the endless stream of people going about their daily lives. A constant reminder of the fast-paced, glamorous lifestyle that the city was distinctly known for.
As you observed the never-ending traffic and the constant hustle and bustle you felt like an outsider, merely an observer of this place that you called home. It was funny how the whole world could just continue on its merry O’ way when you were in such misery and distress. That made you want to believe in conspiracy theories. It had to be a government set up. There was no other way to explain what had become a complete circus that was your life. Will had been of zero help on being your eyes and ears, and to make matters worse the sounds of your beeper going off had more than likely given you a bad case of PTSD. Every time it sounded you jumped and paced the room like a mad woman, forgetting a couple times during the fiasco, that you had to be the one to press the button to shut it up.
…
When You heard the door open at 8:25PM, You didn't wonder who it was. Candy was your roommate after all and the only one with a key, unless she'd given Troy one that you weren't told about. In the same notion you made no real move to greet her. You'd made up your mind. You were gonna end it all. That was the only way you were going to ever live any of this down. You imagined what the headline in the tabloid would say. Stalker girl took a leap of faith and lost. You wondered what he would say when asked to give a statement to the press. She was a cuckoo bird. Bat shit crazy to write those things she did. That's all there is to it. God! Why had you not been smarter about the whole thing.
"Girl, what are you doing? Your page said it was an emergency. Then I couldn’t get through to you on the phone."
Well, at least you knew who'd been calling. You hadn’t answered it since you’d discovered the notebook to be missing. You threw her a casual look before you turned your head back out toward the bustlings of L.A. From what you could tell, Candy genuinely looked concerned walking up to you in her red cheetah and jean ensemble. Fly as usual, she reminded you of Micheal Jackson's love interest from the thriller music video. Only Candy put her own spin on it. Her breath was labored a little giving indication that she’d rushed over. God were you glad to see her. You’d needed her ear for days. Keeping everything inside, outside of the times you walked around the apartment talking to yourself had been the worst kind of torture.
The introduction to you being away from each other so long should have come out different. You should have asked her how the game was. Did their team even win? It was one thing to go and watch a boyfriend play a sport, but to have to watch him lose at that sport. You didn’t know Troy that well but he seemed the type to take a loss as a personal. But you didn’t care about any of that! Your selfish ass ignored her efforts of trying to access the situation with the practicality you obviously lacked and sunk back into your own wallowing self pity, to inch yourself further out the window. You looked at a dog from the other apartment balcony. It looked back at you.
"I figured I might as well just jump, ya kno.” You called back at her and gave a long drawn out unnecessary sigh. “I mean what's left. Life is over Can. I'll never be able to show my face around campus again! Hell, the Campus isn’t even the worst part. The country. Just wait till this gets out!" It hurt your brain to even think about it.
Candy on the other hand in typical Candy fashion stood completely unbothered. She casually sat her blue purse on the table and smacked her teeth. "You dramatic as fuck,” she said with a pop of her gum. “What are you talkin' bout? What happened?"
“Him. He happened…” You didn't need to say his name, Candy already knew. She'd been your designated go to for info on the guys around the campus. Candy was the opposite of you. She loved people and her favorite pastime was gossip. You remember suggesting she take up journalism. You'd be perfect for it, you'd told her, wit' your nosey ass. So of course you asked her for some intel on the quiet and mysterious Franklin Saint when he walked into Business class at the beginning of the semester that year. The rest was of course, history. But those were brighter days when you had a future ahead of you. Things were different. The odds were no longer in your favor. The universe had taken the biggest dump on your entire existence. You took a deep breath to deliver the horrifying news.
"Franklin has my notebook."
One of Candy's eyebrows went up. She looked deep in thought as she shifted her weight to one side. "Hm. Notebook. Notebook." It must have snapped for her like a lightbulb turned on. Her features shifted from pondering over the statement to complete surprise. "Thee notebook! The one with all your sex stories notebook, that you be acting like is some sacred artifact that can't nobody touch or you be ready to shank a bitch notebook. That one?"
You frowned and pursued your lips turning to look at her and slapping your knee because she should already know that. "Yes girl! What other notebook would have me this upset right now?"
Candy let out a partial laugh. "I'm sorry but, rewind. How we get here exactly?"
You closed your eyes and rubbed at your temple to ease the pounding headache you acquired. "I had it with me when I went to his house to work on the project for our final." You carried that notebook around like your life depended on it. It kept a lovely little place inside your purse, but of course the night you were referring to had been the night you'd accidentally shoved it in with all your class books and papers, being you were in such a damn rush. "Uhhhhhh-uhhhh," you groaned, laying yourself down dramatically on the floor. "He read it, he read it. I can't even. I feel like I wanna shit on myself right now."
Candy scrunched her nose and smacked her teeth. "Oh hell naw bitch, that’s funky. But uh. HE read it? I'm supposed to be yo’ best friend and I ain't even read the shit. You've been holdin' out on me but Franklin Saint is all of a sudden special. See. We ain't really friends." She crossed her arms and shook her head.
You let a long sigh leave you as you cried with no tears, which really came out in another whine. "These stories were never meant to be seen by human eyes, Candy. It's private thoughts!"
"Or nasty ones." A smirk tickled her full ruby painted lips. "Just how dirty is this story you wrote about him, exactly?"
She had this smile plastered on her face that pissed you off. You immediately shut it down. "Un Uh, let me stop you right there. I don't do dirty.” You decided to sit all the way up from your sprawl on the ground to say the next part. “I do passion, and it's pretty fuckin' passionate. I was up to chapter 17," you revealed.
She looked surprised. "Bitch, excuse me? Chapter 17?"
You sighed and Candy brought her thumb and index finger to the bridge of her nose.
"This chile' don wrote a whole book about this man. Lord help us."
You felt butterflies fill your stomach. "Shut up Can, you are not helping! I need to know what to do next. Like do I leave the country, or what? You're gonna put in to help me get the plane tickets to Mexico right?"
"Uh noooo. What I look like?"
"Um. Like someone who can give me a couple hundred dolla's. Like you got that. Didn't you just get a new paint job on them fingers."
Candy looked at her nails and then back at you. "Um. How bout' no. You better go talk to one of your other homegirl's bout’ all that. And how was that your first choice? What the fuck you gon do in Mexico? Yo ass don't even speak Spanish," She chuckled.
"Hell, I could learn!" You said with some hope in your words.
Candy sighed and rolled her eyes. "Okay let's be serious for a minute. How you know he even read it?"
You got up and walked over to the table to pick up your pager and show it to Candy. "Because he been blowin’ me up like crazy!"
Candy let her manicured index finger tap her chin as she looked up toward the ceiling. "And you said that you were working on a project. For the final, right?"
You offered a quick nod. You felt like she might be onto something. She had that detective voice on. "Yeah." You closed some space between you two, eager for what she would say next.
"Well duh bitch!” She blurted and you jumped from surprise. “He more then likely blowin' yo' crazy ass up to ask where the fuck you are. The nigga probably care about his grade."
You smacked your teeth. That was not what you wanted to hear. "That’s it. I'm leaving. Nobody understands me. Gaaaaaahhhhwwwddddd," You shouted at the top of your lungs, throwing your hands in the air and storming off toward your room.
Candy chuckled and shrugged her shoulders carelessly before she walked over the fridge."Okay, bye.” She called out to you as you disappeared around the corner. “It's not my fault you don't like the truth, hoe."
You were done, over, finished. Thinking quickly on the next move had to be the biggest understatement known to mankind, especially in the moment of panic. But you were sharp though. At the very least you couldn't give up just yet! A quick turn and you saw the suitcase.Taking it you drug it over to the closet. With the intent on taking the entire wardrobe in one grab, you struggled to free the hangers that were fighting to stay on the rail as you swung and pulled at articles of clothing.
Eventually you triumphed in the battle and threw down the pile. Snatching some of the hangers off of the many shirts and dresses, you folded parts of clothes over clothes and shut the top of the suitcase only to drag it to the living room area huffing and puffing. You took off your hoodie and threw it to the side. It fell somewhere out of sight. A quick look back at Candy and you found her sitting at the table with an open pop can in her hand. Her expression, which appeared stable and innocent to the destruction of your life falling apart, caused you to frown. “What are you just gonna sit there? Help me,” you cried jumping on the top of the suitcase in an effort to push the volume of the clothes down into the already flooded compartment. “Time is of the essence!”
Candy shook her head. “Nope. That's all you girl.”
You narrowed your gaze on her and lifted your finger to point in her direction. “Alright. I won’t forget this. Trust and believe your time will come. And when it does, I'm not helping you!”
Candy laughed. “Girl, whatever. You are overreacting, as per usual.” She casually took a sip from the pop can.
Right after her annoying slurp, there was a knock at the door. You damn near jumped out of your skin at the surprise and barely missed hitting one of the tall lamps with your arm.
In a hurry, Candy got up from her place at the table and walked over to inspect it. “Girl calm the hell down. Not you tryna break shit.” The knocking came again, four times one after the other. Candy sighed. “It’s probably Troy. I forgot he was waiting downstairs. Ran up here to make sure yo’ butt was good and left him in the car.” She pursed her lips and rolled her eyes as she made her way to the door.
You let out the breath you were holding in and focused on your suitcase once more, gathering shirt sleeves and pants legs that insisted on being stubborn. You heard the door open although you didn’t pay attention. You had no time for Troy right now. You needed to think!
“Aye, Wassup Candice.”
You lifted your head up. A chill ran down your spine. Why the hell did that voice sound so, familiar? It damn sure wasn’t Troy's!
“Uh, Franklin. H-hey.”
There was no way. No Waaaaaay!
Candy threw a look over her shoulder at you that basically said, Bitch look who showed up.
You could only look back at her with with the, yeah I fuckin’ know right! What the hell I'mma do now, face.
Pretty much you would describe the whole thing like having a really bad stomach ache because you knew you shouldn’t eat anything with cheese wit yo’ lactose and tolerant ass, and not be near a damn bathroom type scenario. Your stomach. It was doing some kind of dance that you didn’t know the steps to, and you sucked in your cheeks briefly in effort not to throw up from the complete shock of the leading man from your cherished Bonnie and Clyde hood remix standing outside of your apartment door, looking sexy as ever. Damn, did he know how to dress himself! Dark jeans. A Cream colored Polo. You decided then and there that was just gonna be his thing, Polo and more Polo. You never saw him rock any other brand of clothing. He had on some white and tan sambass, and a bomber jacket in the nicest brown leather that you personally hadn't seen in a while. It had done its diligence in completing the look, that was for sure.
“What a pleasant surprise,” Candy said, probably to curb the awkwardness. Franklin standing there with a backpack at his left shoulder, all the different looks being thrown around, annnnnnd the slight entrance of the unsettling silence that spoke of the entire situation sneaking its way in the midst of everything else. “How are you?” She added.
“Good. I’m good,” Franklin said and smiled. When his eyes left Candy to find you, it dead ass froze you, and made you want to pass out. He lifted a hand and grinned, kinda the same grin he had the night you’d spoken with him of unrelated project things and flying when you went to his hideaway just on the outskirts of the city. Those dreamy eyes were back on him too. He’d come prepared for a war no doubt, and you were totally disjointed and unarmed.
“Oh shoot. My manners. Got you standing outside like this. Please, come in.”
You could have strangled her ass right then and there. Franklin smiled and walked in, crossing the threshold and entering your living space. The fact that he was in your home had you shook, but the reason he’d come had you on pins and needles. You may as well be standing at the edge of a cliff.
“Hey yellow socks,” he said with that familiar suave in his tone.
You had yellow socks and he had a yellow backpack, WHY YHE FUCK DID THAT MATTER RIGHT NOW! You screamed internally. The way he said it, kicked off those butterflies like always, prompting you to have this weird smile on your face. You knew it looked batshit cray cray even though you yourself couldn’t see it. The point, it felt hella unnatural and forced either way, and all that ran through your mind was how quickly you could make it to the window, pajama pants and all.
“Well, I was just on my way out. You two play nice…”
You snatched your head so quickly that you got whiplash. You watched Candy walk over to her purse and pick up her soda can. Franklin’s eyes were still on you, and followed you as you met Candy at the front door.
“Don’t you leave me,” you whispered through gritted teeth and wide eyes.
Candy placed a hand on your shoulder. “Trust me. You got this. Handle your business. I’ll see you later on tonight,"she whispered back with a wink.
You reached out, pulling on her jacket to try and stop her. To no avail she’d escaped your clutches and threw a handwave as you watched her descend the stairs. You sucked in a deep breath and exhaled before turning to face your worst nightmare; Franklin Saint standing there watching you. You smiled and shut the door behind you. “Want something to drink?” You had to say something, anything, the tension was just too much! That was all you could think of. It had been the same thing he’d said when you first entered his place that night to work on the project.
Franklin shook his head. “Naw. I’m good.”
You nodded your head and stepped away from the door. A regret right away. You should have ran.
“You going somewhere?”
A quick glance at the suitcase, you waved it off and produced somewhat of a nervous laugh. “Oh no. Just cleaning out my clothes. Figured I had too many so. Might donate some of um, ya know.”
“Hm. That’s nice of you,” he grinned and put his hands behind his back.
Okay, this was strange. Shouldn’t he be annoyed? Mad, irritated? Franklin appeared cool, calm and altogether collected. Damn, you couldn’t read this man for nothing. Your pager was in plain sight so you knew he knew you saw all his attempts at getting in touch making you hate that you moved the pillow at some point, but instead of say anything about it at all, he walked with a debonair charm as he made his way over to take a seat on the sofa. Once he sat he patted a place close beside for you to join him as he lowered the backpack down to the floor. You threw a glance at your suitcase. So much for making a run for sunny Mexico. Candy had betrayed you. She should have never invited him to come in. Alone and defenseless. You were trapped. A rabbit in the foxes den. A rather sexy fox nonetheless, but still. You took a seat.
“So. Guess we should address the elephant in the room. You been dodging my pages. Why?”
Damn. Straight to the point. It was nothing new. Such a thing was never unlike Franklin to do, for the little time you’d known him, atleast. It was just, he stayed catching yo’ ass off guard. Always two steps ahead.
There came that stupid unnatural smile again. You searched your brain for a good excuse that you hoped would make sense. For being somewhat of a writer, you sure we're outta stories at the moment. “Well see, I've been unwell. Yeah…” You nodded your head proud of yourself. Generic lie, but one you used for missing work a couple times. “And really, I didn’t wanna get anybody sick so I was just locked up in the room for the last few days. My fever just sorta broke, recently.”
A mouthful and Franklin hadn’t taken his eyes off of you for one word of the bullshit you were feeding him.
“Damn, sick? That’s. Hm.”
That’s. Hm. What the fuck did that’s Hm mean? You mentally kicked yourself. He was too smart. He wasn’t buying it.
“I know right. Haha. I’m always doing things like that ya know. Being considerate of others. Considerate lil Ol’ me, yaaaay.”
Franklin sat back and took a deep inhale as he straightened his jacket. “Well, I wish I could say that about other people. One of them being our professor. Apparently this sickness, or whatever it was, kept you away from letting’ him kno’ it’s savarity to. Said he hadn’t heard from you either.”
Your smile vanished. Why the hell was this starting to sound like an interrogation?
“Got him to give us an extension for the project. Did most of what we needed from the library the day we were supposed to meet up.”
Fuck. Candy was right. This was never about the damn notebook. He genuinely wanted to work on the project, get it done and get a good grade to finish off his last semester. Suddenly your shoulders eased and you felt stupid. If you thought there was ever any chance for the two of you, it all disappeared with that realization.
“Franklin. I’m. Shit i’m sorry. I’ll, I. What can I do?” You stood from your place on the sofa eager to make things right. “You did most of the research?”
He looked up at you and nodded.
“Well, I can write the rest. Add to whatever you already have. Plus. As a bonus, I'll present the final project to the class,” and you hated presenting with a passion so you fucking hoped he saw the sensarity. Whenever you had a project or presentation of any kind, you were always able to persuade a partner to do the talking. Here you were about to do something you genuinely disliked, just to make it up to him. “How does that sound? We got a deal?”
Franklin nodded, this time he did so with a short grin. “Alright. Deal.”
You felt a wave of relief wash over you and the rest of the tension in your body was almost gone, right until Franklin leaned forward and pulled something from behind his back.
“Almost forgot.”
You watched him sit on the surface of the coffee table, a familiar item. To be greeted with Flash Drive Whoopi’s big smiling face right then and there. The probability of any color in your deeply melanated complexion being lost was unlikely, but you were certain all your blood had drained out.
“Found this under my couch. Wanted to get it back to you.”
Your eyes grew large as saucers. If this had been an actual horror mystery movie, a slasher film to be more specific, it would have been right at the part of climax where the person you least expected was revealed to be the actual killer. For whatever reason you thought about your favorite Stephen King book, The Shining. A bit strange for the occasion, but you felt a lot like Danny Torrence. You wanted to shine yo’ ass right on out the situation.
Swallowing down the lump in your throat, in one swell motion you’d taken up the notebook and looked it over. It was definitely YOUR notebook. The one and only! You could feel your heart pounding. Hear it in all corners of the room. “Wow. yeah. Been looking for it. Uh, thank you,” you said quick, fast, and in a hurry despite the shakiness in the words.
“Yeah. Of Course.” Franklin paused and brought his hands together before catching your eyes. “Wasn't really feelin’ the ending tho’. Seemed Juicy and Saint had a bit more left ta’ do.”
………………………..To Be Continued?

Daily Check-in - July 27, 2023 🎀
Today was easier than yesterday, but I am still so sleepy and tired. I have to work a full shift tomorrow AND Saturday on top of my weekend chores so I'm hoping to take Sunday as a full self care day! Fingers crossed!!
🩷 What I Ate Today:
Breakfast - One slice of toast with mashed avocado, paprika, a fried egg, and a side of watermelon, and one cup of coffee.
Lunch - ground beef burrito bowl with black beans, shredded cheese, chopped iceberg lettuce, sour cream, salsa, and a low carb tortilla.
Dinner - One plate of spaghetti with meat marinara sauce, grated parmesean cheese, and two pieces of buttered bread
Other - One cup of coffee with French vanilla creamer
Water ~ 30oz I just forgot to drink water today, but using my water bottle has gotten easier and helped me drink more during the work day.
I didn't feel like snacking much today, and I couldn't finish my lunch, but I am very satisfied with my intake today! I love eating healthier and listening to my body. I do track what I eat, but I make sure it's food I like! Given my past, I can't do restrictions, so I choose to honor my wants in a way that works towards my goals and nourishes both my mind and body.
🩷 Workout - Upper Body Pilates (ish)
This one was really good! It was my first time trying it and it had my arms burning in a good way. I really enjoyed it, and I totally recommend. This is definitely going to be a regular of mine! 10/10
This one has been a favorite for a few years, I absolutely love the way it makes my arms feel. The movements are easy and effective, and leave me sore in a good way. Absolutely my favorite lean arms workout, hands down! 11/10
🩷 Habits I Completed Today:
Made my bed
Morning & Night Skincare
Morning & Night Guided Journal
Read 1 Chapter of a book
Workout
I forgot to do my mediation and stretching, and I didn't meet my hydration goal, but I'm taking every day in stride and doing what my energy allows me to accomplish. I believe in self compassion and flexibility in routine, especially given how my energy fluctuates on a daily basis. However, I am definitely doing the full habits list tomorrow, I'm going to challenge myself to accomplish every daily goal I have for myself!
🩷 Song of The Day: Eleven - IVE
This song makes me feel like a badass princess who deserves only the highest level of princess treatment. It's hard to describe how feminine and girly this song makes me feel, even on my most tomboyish, sweaty work days. An absolute bop!!
🩷 Current Read: Atomic Habits by James Clear
Tomorrow, I can do this. I can meet my goals, all of them. It'll take some effort, but I have faith in myself. Once I get the ball rolling, it's just a matter of forward motion with accomplishing each of my goals. I can't wait!!
I also need to budget for next Saturday, as I'm going shopping for some new clothes before my university opens back up for the fall semester. If I'm gonna feel my best, I'm going to look my best too! I'm really hoping to get a few new dresses, accessories (like hair stuff, pantyhose, jelwery, purses, etc), shoes, and maybe some tops and skirts too depending on what the store has. I love shopping, so I'm super excited!!!
Til tomorrow, my lovelies!! <3

Around lunch time, Cordelia and Andrea did their regular ritual of heading out back to the Chipotle stand, grabbing 2 burrito bowls and eating together. They'd typically small talk over lunch, but today they had a lot to talk about.
"I didn't get a chance to check in with you before your shift started." Andrea glanced over at her daughter, concern all over her face. "So? How'd it go with your Aunty Di?" "
Oh, that. Well, it went fine. She just asked me if I could show Matthew around the first week of school."
"You told her, no, right?"
"Well...."
Andrea sighed. "I knew it. I knew I should've insisted she ask you in front of me. She coerced you into it, didn't she?"
"Mama—"
"It's OK. You don't have to do it. I'll talk to her and get you out of it."
"Mama—"
Dre clicked her tongue. "And after I made her promise me she wouldn't try and guilt you, and she goes right in and does the opposite. I can't believe her!" And then she paused. "Never mind. Yes I can."
"Mama, it's fine."
"Fine? How can it be fine?"
"She preyed on your good nature and manipulated you into helping her. That's not fine!"
"But it is fine because she didn't manipulate me. I wanted to help her. She said something that really got to me. About Matthew not being able to spend the last 4 years of his youth at home."
"Four years isn't a long time, and after that, we'll all be leaving home. I'd hate it if I didn't have these final years with you and Daddy. So, even though Matthew can be a jerk, I wouldn't want that for him either."
"Well, that's very sweet of you. He better appreciate it."
"It helps that the second he's mean I can bail on him." Cordie smirked.
"And you're sure? Cause all you have to do is say the word, and I can pull you out of it."
"I'm very sure. Who knows, maybe Matthew really is a proper gentleman now." She snorted. "But forget about him."

and Chester Cheetah’s Cheeto Churros, churros made of fried pound cake covered in Simply White Cheddar Cheetos dust, sugar, whipped cream, and caramel.
Meanwhile, the themed drinks available were:
the “Hot” Chocolate Shake, a chocolate ice cream milkshake with crushed Flamin’ Hot Cheetos and raspberries (and garnished with more of the same),
and the cocktails, whose existing images are unfortunately impossible to discern given the warm lighting in the venue and the variety of glasses utilized:
Heat Control, white rum mixed with Crystal Pepsi, coconut water, and citric acid,
The Bubly Hydrant, bourbon with Applebubly, apple cider, and an apple slice,
the Fire Extinguisher, tequila with Grapefruitbubly, grapefruit juice, lime juice, orange liqueur, and a lime garnish,
Cool Off, Hot Stuff, Nolet’s Gin, simple syrup, lemon juice, and jalapeno and cucumber slices,
The Fizzy Spice Fix, Belvedere vodka with prosecco and honeydew shrub
The Spiced Kick, spiced rum with Pepsi and lime,
and Infuego, Bulleit Rye whiskey and Kentucky bourbon with orange and angostura bitters and sugar cube.

My mom, and her mom, were and are great cooks, but we were also very much the kind of family that relied on basic (and essentially timeless) recipes, and my grandma was born around the 1920s, and my mom was born at the beginning of the 60s.
Both my mom and her mom worked full-time and raised multiple kids (and my mom lost her dad when she was young, so my great-aunt who I've mentioned before many times, moved in to help raise her and her four brothers) and so they needed affordable, filling, easy recipes.
Which meant we had a lot of meatloaf (with fries or potatoes of some kind, and if we were feeling fancy or wanted to stretch it, with cheese and sliced ham in the center), casseroles of all kind (to this day I still crave her tuna casserole, which is basically canned tuna, white sauce - canned white sauce pre-my dad's celiac - and crushed potato chips for the topping and in the mix? I don't think there was any pasta or noodles involved), grilled hot dogs and hamburgers (the latter with 80/20 ground beef, ketchup or bbq sauce, and onion soup mix or other seasonings) with fries (and steak or pork chops or chicken if we wanted to step it up a bit), breakfast for dinner during lent or when not wanting to do too much (so pancakes and scrambled eggs and bacon or sausage), tacos and burritos (seasoned ground beef or shredded chicken or, if my dad was feeling it, carnitas, with tortillas and taco shells and cheese and other toppings), big things of baked pastas (and just regular cooked pasta), chili (sometimes with cornbread or french bread) and the infamous hamburger rice - which is basically ground beef and onions in a tomato sauce (homemade/from scratch if so inclined but otherwise canned or jarred) with canned corn and a fuckton of rice, mixed together (sometimes baked but otherwise just a big pot of rice mixed with a beefy tomato sauce and canned corn and onions) and with cheese sprinked on or included. (This is the dish we ate a ton because of my dad's celiac and because it was cheap, quick, and easy, and it's why I have to fight to get over my avoidance of rice dishes to this day).
My mom's potato salad (and macaroni salad, since the only difference is whether you use potatoes or noodles) is basically just potatoes (or noodles) parboiled and then cubed, mixed with onion, pimento, mayo, ketchup, mustard, a small amount of paprika, and salt and pepper - and I also crave it to this day. (When I was an infant I once ended up in the trunk of my parents' car and proceeded to help myself to the bowl that was there for the picnic the family was having at Kennedy Grove.
That's not all we ate (because it was the 90s and early 2000s, and both me and my mom love chinese takeout and prime rib, and because there is always some evolution and differentiation) but that was basically what we had, and it was pretty much what she had when she was growing up too, so we basically ate mid-century meals well into the beginning of the 21st century.

Equipment and Time Considerations
You will need a pullman's loaf pan, which is a bread pan with a lid. the reason just tinfoiling a regular cake loaf pan doesn't work is because a pullman's is also considerably deeper and longer that a regular loaf pan, it can fit about a store-sized loaf of bread. which. which it's where the sizing actually comes from, historically.
This is a sourdough recipe so you have to remember to keep your starter well fed AND that the proofing takes considerably longer than anything with instant yeast.
I've modified a bunch of timings throughout the recipe. While your average sourdough boule takes an overnight final proof (making it a 2-day loaf) and your average pullman's loaf recipe takes about an afternoon, this will take about a day's (little under 12 hours give or take) worth of time.
Also note that it is currently around 19C/66F so I've been using my lightly heated oven to keep the dough at decent proofing temps (idk like 70 to 85ish degrees fahrenheit? whatever the equivalent of a sunny window day is). You'll need to figure out your equivalent
Ingredients
Levain -50ish g active, full hydration starter -35g whole wheat flour -35g AP or bread flour -70g/mL water, lukewarm
Remaining Ingredients (Not doing an autolyse for this one) -500g/mL water, lukewarm -35g sugar -550g AP or bread flour -200g whole wheat flour -15-20g salt -65g butter or margarine, plus some reserved
Method
Prepare the levain by mixing all ingredients together in a glass jar (i reuse an old jam jar), covering top with cling wrap, and leaving somewhere warm-ish for about 4 hours. You'll know it's ready when it's doubled in size and has just begun to fall
If you're using a stand mixer, pour your active levain into it. (any other large bowl will do if you're doing hand mixing). Add the sugar and the water to the levain, mixing together.
Let sit for 15-20 min. (I do this to encourage a bit of rapid growth in the yeast, it ups the culture's concentration and takes a bit of the acrid sour out of the flavour profile)
mix in remainder of the ingredients, flours, salt, butter/margarine. If you're using a stand mixer, have it go for about 5 min on the lowest setting. I run mine longer, but I'm using my roommate's old model so the lowest setting is slower. If kneading by hand I would say about 10 minutes or so, and since this is a wet dough, the slap and fold method is probably the way to go.
transfer back to the bowl and cover with plastic wrap, place in a proofer/warm area.
Now it's time for initial proofing and series of stretch and folds. Wait a half hour, then do a stretch and fold. Repeat this cycle three times so you're stretching and folding a total of 3 times. (30min>S&F>30min>S&F>30min>S&F>30min)
Take your pullman's loaf pan and butter/margarine the bottom and sides
heavily flour a surface of choice. Scrape the dough out and let the dough rest on the counter for about 20 minutes
using a floured bench scraper, burrito fold the dough into a loaf shape (roll in sides first, then roll the long way) and transfer to the buttered loaf pan.
Let that rest in the pan for 10 minutes, then preheat the oven on bake at about 375F. The loaf should be out in the open with no lid for at least 20 minutes, otherwise it'll be too wet for the bread lame to score. (You also have the option of fridging the entire pan with a rice flour coated dish towel to get the same drying effect, but idk what the timeline'd look like for that)
lightly sprinkle some more flour onto the top of the loaf and score bread to your liking.
bake with the lid on for 40 minutes, then slide the lid off, raise temp to 425F and swap to broil setting (we want the heat coming from up top now) for about 15 minutes
cool bread off on rack and enjoy!!!!!!!
everyone!!! i may be generally full of sadness! but!!!
look at my mfucking LOAF OF BREAD
I am writing the version of the resippy i used today since I make tiny adjustments each time, so hold your horses it's comin!

Delicious Diabetic Breakfasts to Support Weight Loss and Healthy Living
When you’re living with diabetes, breakfast is more than just a meal—it’s an opportunity to set a healthy foundation for the rest of your day. But choosing the right breakfast can be tricky. Traditional breakfast foods like pancakes, waffles, and even oatmeal can be loaded with carbs and sugars, which can send blood sugar levels soaring. Fortunately, there are plenty of nutritious, easy-to-make breakfast options that can help manage diabetes while supporting weight loss goals. Let’s dive into some diabetes-friendly breakfast ideas that are filling, nutritious, and delicious.
Why Breakfast Matters for Diabetics
For diabetics, eating a well-balanced breakfast is essential. Starting the day with the right nutrients helps regulate blood sugar levels, boosts energy, and can even reduce cravings throughout the day. High-carb breakfasts can spike blood sugar levels, leading to crashes and cravings later on, which can hinder weight loss and make diabetes management more challenging.
Traditional breakfast items aren’t always designed with diabetics in mind. Even seemingly healthy options like oatmeal with fruit can be high in carbohydrates, so finding suitable alternatives is key. But there’s good news! With a little creativity, you can create breakfasts that are low in carbs, high in protein, and rich in healthy fats, all while being easy to prepare and satisfying.
Breakfast Options to Keep You Full and Satisfied
Here are a few breakfast ideas that are not only diabetes-friendly but also packed with nutrients to help you stay energized and focused throughout the morning.
1. Spinach and Feta Omelet with Whole Grain Toast
Egg-based breakfasts are a fantastic option for diabetics because they are high in protein and low in carbs. A spinach and feta omelet with a side of whole-grain toast is a filling and nutritious choice. Spinach adds fiber and antioxidants, while feta brings a tangy flavor that complements the eggs. The whole grain toast provides a small amount of complex carbohydrates to give you energy without causing a blood sugar spike.
2. Smoothie Bowls
If you’re looking for something quick and easy, smoothie bowls are a great go-to. Use Greek yogurt as your base—it’s high in protein and lower in carbs compared to regular yogurt. Add in some frozen berries for antioxidants and a sprinkle of chia seeds for fiber and omega-3 fatty acids. This combination is filling, easy to digest, and low in sugar. Plus, it’s portable and perfect for busy mornings.
3. Breakfast Skillet with Turkey Sausage and Veggies
For a heartier breakfast, try a breakfast skillet made with scrambled eggs, turkey sausage, and roasted vegetables. Turkey sausage is a lean protein source, while the veggies add fiber and essential nutrients. This is an excellent breakfast choice to keep you full and satisfied throughout the morning. Just cook everything up in a skillet, and you’ve got a delicious, diabetes-friendly breakfast that’s ready in minutes.
Real-Life Success Stories
A great source of inspiration is hearing from people who have transformed their health through better breakfast choices. One success story that stands out is a woman who lost 20 pounds in 12 weeks by switching to a high-protein breakfast smoothie each morning. Her go-to blend included Greek yogurt, spinach, and frozen berries—a simple combination that fueled her mornings, kept her full, and stabilized her blood sugar. Her story serves as a reminder that breakfast can be a powerful tool in managing diabetes and supporting weight loss.
Recipe Highlight: Diabetes-Friendly Breakfast Burrito
If you’re looking for a versatile, easy-to-make breakfast that’s perfect for diabetics, try this breakfast burrito. It’s a balanced meal filled with protein, fiber, and healthy fats, making it ideal for stable blood sugar levels and weight management.
Ingredients:
2 scrambled eggs
¼ cup black beans
¼ avocado, diced
Whole grain tortilla
Instructions:
Scramble the eggs and cook the black beans.
Add the eggs, beans, and avocado onto the tortilla.
Wrap it up, and you’re ready to go!
This breakfast burrito is easy to make, portable, and packed with nutrients to keep you energized until lunch.
Final Thoughts: How Breakfast Can Support Weight Loss
Breakfast doesn’t have to be complicated to be effective. Choosing meals that are high in protein, fiber, and healthy fats can keep blood sugar levels stable, boost energy, and reduce cravings. For diabetics aiming to lose weight, these factors are critical to achieving success.
Incorporating nutrient-dense breakfasts into your routine can make a big difference in both your weight and diabetes management. Experiment with different combinations, keep it simple, and find what works best for you.
