Dig In and Cheer On: Enjoy Your Favorite Meal with the Thrill of the Olympics As the excitement for the Paris 2024 Olympics builds, sports fans worldwide are eagerly anticipating the competition, hoping their favorite athletes will bring home gold, silver, and bronze. Amid the frenzy of tracking medal counts and rooting for national teams, an intriguing parallel can be drawn between the Olympics and the culinary world. This connection is not just about athletes' diets or sponsorships; it extends to how our favorite comfort foods, like burritos and cheeseburgers, can metaphorically reflect the diverse tastes and preferences represented in the Olympics. Let’s explore this comparison by examining how different food items can represent various Olympic events and their corresponding medal counts.
Tumblr media
Burrito (Bowl or Regular): In the world of sports, versatility is key, much like the burrito. Whether it's a regular burrito or a burrito bowl, this dish represents adaptability and a blend of flavors, mirroring how athletes must adapt their strategies to different events. In the 2024 Olympics, countries will aim for a diverse medal count, just as a burrito encompasses a variety of ingredients. For example, a nation strong in swimming might target multiple golds, akin to how a burrito combines rice, beans, and meat into a harmonious whole. order online
Cheeseburger: The cheeseburger, a quintessential American dish, symbolizes classic strength and reliability. Just as the cheeseburger remains a staple in American cuisine, the U.S. is expected to be a powerhouse in various Olympic sports. Historically, the U.S. has been strong in track and field, swimming, and gymnastics, akin to the cheeseburger's enduring appeal in American food culture. As we follow the medal count, the U.S.'s performance in these key events will be closely watched, much like the cheeseburger's consistent presence on menus. order online
Cheese Pizza: Cheese pizza, with its simplicity and universal appeal, represents the universal excitement and shared experiences of the Olympics. Just as cheese pizza is a go-to favorite for many, the Olympics offer a common ground for people around the world to unite. This year, expect countries with strong team sports, such as basketball and soccer, to vie for top positions, reflecting the pizza’s broad appeal and the collective enthusiasm for these sports. order online
Pad Thai: This Thai dish signifies a blend of traditions and cultures, much like the diverse range of countries participating in the Olympics. Pad Thai, with its mix of sweet, sour, and savory flavors, parallels the rich variety of cultural backgrounds represented at the Games. In 2024, watch for countries with strong traditions in martial arts, like Thailand, to make their mark, akin to how Pad Thai represents a fusion of culinary traditions. order online
Tumblr media
Chicken Quesadilla: The chicken quesadilla, with its blend of flavors and textures, can be seen as a metaphor for the strategic and multifaceted nature of Olympic sports. Athletes in the 2024 Olympics will need to showcase versatility and adaptability, just as a chicken quesadilla combines chicken, cheese, and spices in a delightful package. Expect to see athletes from various disciplines, such as gymnastics and diving, demonstrating their ability to excel in different aspects of their sports. order online
California Roll: This sushi roll symbolizes innovation and modernity, much like the newer Olympic sports that debut in each Games. The California Roll, a fusion of traditional Japanese sushi with American ingredients, mirrors the introduction of sports like skateboarding and surfing into the Olympic roster. These events are set to capture the interest of a younger audience, reflecting the roll’s fresh and inventive approach to sushi. order online
Fried Chicken Sandwich: This popular item signifies comfort and satisfaction, akin to the joy of witnessing an athlete's hard-earned victory. Just as the fried chicken sandwich offers a hearty and fulfilling experience, Olympic victories bring a sense of accomplishment and pride to athletes and their supporters. Look for athletes in high-stakes sports, such as track and field or swimming, to deliver performances that leave a lasting impact. order online
Caesar Salad: Caesar salad represents a balance of simplicity and sophistication, much like the way some Olympic sports combine fundamental skills with advanced techniques. The classic Caesar Salad, with its crisp romaine lettuce and creamy dressing, mirrors the grace and precision required in sports such as figure skating or synchronized swimming. As these athletes compete, their refined techniques and performance will be closely scrutinized, much like the careful preparation of a Caesar Salad. order online
Buffalo Chicken Pizza: Combining the bold flavors of buffalo chicken with the classic pizza base, this dish reflects the excitement and intensity of the Olympics. Just as the Buffalo Chicken Pizza offers a spicy and dynamic twist on a traditional favorite, the Games feature high-energy competitions that captivate audiences. Watch for sports like boxing and wrestling to deliver thrilling performances that keep fans on the edge of their seats. order online
Manicotti: Finally, manicotti, with its rich and comforting layers, represents the depth and complexity of the Olympic Games. This Italian dish, with its stuffed pasta and savory sauce, parallels the intricate and demanding nature of events such as decathlon and heptathlon. Athletes competing in these multi-discipline events will showcase their ability to master a range of skills, much like the layered richness of manicotti. order online
As we prepare for the 2024 Paris Olympics, it’s fascinating to see how the varied culinary landscape reflects the spirit of the Games. From the adaptable burrito to the innovative California Roll, each dish offers a unique lens through which to view the rich tapestry of international competition. As countries vie for medal counts and athletes strive for excellence, the diversity of our favorite foods serves as a delicious metaphor for the vibrant and multifaceted nature of the Olympics.

cat shifter reader x task force 141
(An AU to the AU--based on an ask and the results of this poll.)
No more guns a-blazing or cruel glory. The 141 had their time in the military; now, it was time to slow down.
Of course, when one sticks with the same people for half their life, through thick and thin, there is no going back. The blood of the covenant is thicker than the water of the womb--and the 141 had spilled enough blood together that it practically ran through each others veins. They were inseparable, bound in both trauma and trust, and to part would dissolve the only stability they'd shared. Snip away red strings wrought both in shared drinks and on the battlefield.
What they didn't expect was the addition of you.
In deciding to retire, the 141 bought an old farm in the backcountry. A weary, rickety place that was practically begging for renovations. The busy work gave them something to do with already-rough hands, so they didn't mind--taking care of the animals, replacing the rotting wood, and updating the plumbing simply meant they could make the place their own. And after the house was fixed up, they got to updating the barn, fixing up a chicken coop, installing new fencing, etc.
It was also during these renovations that they got to know the stray cat who'd been living in the barn attic.
Feral--they first thought. Plenty of farm cats were, and the place had been long unlived-in that they believed no one could have socialized or cared for her. Not to mention that she'd been so riled up with them around; hissing from behind walls, or above while balancing on the beams. Jutting her paws out and trying to scratch them while they worked. They always knew where she was by the jingle of the bell around her neck, tied with a soft silk ribbon as though she were someone's pet let loose. Left on the roadside maybe, and for that, they didn't blame her.
But for the most part, she only occupied the second floor of the barn, and she kept the place free of rats and mice. They couldn't have those running around, so for the most part, they stayed out of her way. And she learned to stay out of theirs.
Until she got sick.
"Haven't seen the kit in a while," Gaz finally spoke, poking at the leftover stew in his bowl. It was already dinner when everyone was winding down for the night, and their beloved foe had been missing for three days. "I'm getting worried."
"I'm sure she's fine," Soap reassured him, shoveling another spoonful in his mouth. "Maybe ran off to the woods or somethin'."
"But it's been rainin' plenty lately," Gaz pressed. "You'd think she'd hole up in the attic per usual."
"We can check in the morning," Price sighed, adjusting himself in his seat. "'Sides, wouldn't do any good to be missin' a barn cat--"
"Tonight."
Soap lifts his head to squint over at the man by the sink. "Didn't take ya for a cat person, LT."
"Wanna make sure the mangy thing ain't dead." Ghost drops his dishes with an ceremonial clink-clink-clink. "Would stink up the place."
But when they finally made their way up the sketchy ladder to the barn attic, and they finally pushed aside all the dusty boxes and rusty equipment, what they found wasn't a cat but a young woman--face red with fever and tangled deeply, restlessly, in worn blankets and stolen clothes. Unknown and without ID--save for the bell around her neck, tied with a soft silk ribbon.
_
Bonus Thoughts:
It's quickly determined that you're only suffering from a regular cold, but on the verge of winter, the barn is no place to stay warm. Hence a quiet moment of deliberation between the boys, standing around, not knowing what to do. Also not knowing if their first assumption--that this is their fussy barn cat--is possible. In any case, they can't just leave you here.
Ghost is relegated the duty of carrying you down the very sketchy ladder (as he is with carrying most things). But not before Price wraps you up like a burrito, in case you wake up and decide to try and scratch again.
"'Mangy thing,' huh, LT?"
"Hope you know she's gettin' your bed."

A Legends Baby
“Ash, dude…You had to have been high or something,” Liam looked at Ash skeptically.
“I'm telling you, it was Bigfoot. The guy had to be almost eight feet tall, hung like a horse by the way, and had feet big as a Hobbits,” Ash threw up his hands for example.
“You expecting me to believe Bigfoot piped you on the ski trip AND no one else seemed to notice? No fucking shot,” Liam rolled his eyes.
“Yeah, well, it happened. What? Did you want me to take a selfie while he was fucking me?
“Yes. If it was THE Bigfoot, I would have!”
Ash crossed his arms and went back to his room. “Fine, don’t believe me.”
~3 months later~
“Fuck, why am I gaining so much weight,” Ash struggled to button his pants.
Over the past few weeks Ash had been gaining weight. Particularly around his lower abdomen. His belly button has gotten slightly shallower.
Ash suddenly felt nauseous. In an instant he's bent over the toilet bowl, hurling last night's burrito into the water.
Liam dropped a pregnancy test on the table.
Ash blinked.
“I'm not pregnant,” Ash said.
“Oh, so you took a test already?” Liam cocked an eyebrow.
“No…”
“Uh huh. You're Bigfoot’s or some super lumberjacks baby daddy, I'm telling you,” Liam said.
“So you believe me now?” Ash laughed and shook his head. “Bigfoot is not even the same species as us, He couldn't get any regular human pregnant.”
Liam shrugged and walked out the bathroom. “Fine, remember me when you get a deal for ‘I didn't know I was pregnant’ episode.”
~7 months later~
Ash closed his apartment door and nearly fell to his knees. So much pain, so much pressure, drowned him as soon as he got away from prying eyes. He clung to the wall, face scrunched and sweat on His brow. Ash's gait was wide as if he was preparing to squat.
For the past few hours, the pressure and routine tightening of his belly had gotten so much worse than the days prior. Brief discomfort has become aggravating pain. The work day had been bad enough with all of the comments about his appearance and the sweltering summer heat.
He tossed off his sweatshirt to reveal the cause of his pain.
His stomach was huge, round, and taut. His belly button disappeared into the skin of it, replaced by stretch marks only slightly hidden by hair. It hung low, only being cradled by his palm. The waistband of his drenched sweat pants curved dramatically beneath it. He stumbled forward into the apartment, his gait wide and waddle slow.
“Fuck, this can't be real. Please no,” Ash grunted and held his tightening belly. “Just need to rest…”
He still denied the obvious conclusion, even after 7 months. There was no way, despite contractions, huge belly, and fluid as evidence.
At least the apartment was empty, so he could save some dignity. Liam was away on a vacation out of state. No help or snarky commentary from him was going to come.
Ash gripped the frame of his bedroom door. His mouth and eyes widened as a heavy weight dropped into the cradle of his open cervix. Something was dropping into his pussy. His eyes widened as he realized the shape of it was round, hard. He wanted to just get to his bed, lie on his back, and close his legs tight.
A strong contraction crashed into him in response to that thought. Ash cried out, digging his nails into the door frame. His stomach twisted. The instinct to bear down overwhelmed him. The huge object surged forward as he pushed unconsciously. It took everything in his power not to fall to his knees.
His vagina quickly filled tightly with what he was creating for weeks. Ash's toes curled in his shoes in pain. He couldn't walk to his bed with his hips so splayed out.
Ash's pussy bulged around the solid round object. The burn nearly drove him to tears, but then the contraction stopped. He dry heaved and looked down at the pool of fluid dripping from the bowled out crotch of his sweats.
The same pussy Bigfoot had cum in 10 months ago was now spread wide and bulging through his sweatpants. Ash trembled as he slowly accepted the truth he'd been denying.
Ash untied the drawstring and allowed his pants to fall to his ankles. He reached over his belly, towards his crotch, knowing and fearing exactly what he'd find. His fingers immediately felt the wet, hairy head of a baby between his fingers.
Ash clasped his other hand over his mouth as he felt the huge head spreading his pussy under his palm. His whole body trembled in disbelief.
He should have listened to Liam. He was pregnant and giving birth. His stomach and back seized, sending Ash into another chorus of crying. His pussy spread wide into a painful circle around the hair head.
“Fucking! Get out!” Ash screamed as he slid further down the doorway into a squat. His belly, hung between his thighs, seized in on itself. The pressure and power behind his push drove the baby forward and spurts of fluid gushing out onto the wood floor.
His body lurched as the head and shoulders rocketed out of his pussy with a rough gush of fluid.
He gasped in relief, but continued to push regardless. The body didn't budge and offered Ash nothing but a severe pain in his cervix.
Ash stood up painfully with a deep ragged breath, head and shoulders between his thighs. Why didn't he just fucking listen to Liam. He just had to have Bigfoot's cock, couldn't just snap a fuzzy pic of him and run like normal people.
Another contraction came, he pushed. Nothing happened. No matter how hard he pushed, he couldn't get the baby to descend any lower. Something was stopping the baby from moving lower. The pain was already infuriating.
Desperate, Ash carefully wrapped his hands around the body. His belly began tightening and his back started to lock up. With an almighty roar, Ash pushed and pulled. His body twisted, the muscles in his body rippled as whatever was making the baby stuck started to give. Ash could feel something big come out of his cervix and into his canal. He bit his lip, tugging Bigfoot's baby out of his pussy centimeter by centimeter.
“Fucking hell!” He screamed out.
He threw his head back as his pussy rapidly spread apart . The burn hit him hard and then left as quickly as it came. Ash's body finally released its grip on the baby, his stomach deflating instantly as his child slid out of him. Ash's legs gave out beneath him, leaving him to fall against the wall.
Ash tiredly stared down at the heavy baby in his hands. It had his dark black hair as a mane on its head. But what really caught Ash's attention were what was at the end of the kids legs. The hairy, already crying baby had larger than normal feet. Because of course it did. This is Bigfoot's Kid after all.
“Never fucking without a pill again…” Ash murmured, slumped against the wall.

Turning
l Brock Faber l Brock Faber x Dancer l masterlist l
Tumblr media
"Five, six, seven, eight." Maggie Walker counted out loud to herself as she spun around.
"Knock, Knock" A voice called into the studio she was renting. Brock popped his head in. "Hey Mags" he smiled.
Maggie ignored that man standing in doorway, continuing to work on the big turn sequence, it needed to be perfect. She needed to be perfect. She wasn't going to be the one that messed up by falling out of a turn or hesitating on the aerial. The dance team had a legacy to uphold.
"Hello? Maggie? I brought dinner, you want some?" Brock interrupted her concentration by holding up a bag full of their favorite foods from Chipotle.
"What you and Sammy not want to cook again?" She chirped noticing what he had brought along to share with her.
"Something like that or maybe we don't have any clean dishes." He joked along with her. He started to unpack the bag. Setting up a makeshift picnic on the side of the room. He looked up at her when he was finished expecting her to come eat.
"You go ahead start eating. Gotta keep working on this." Maggie began again.
She pliéed deep, pushing off the floor, going into the same turn she been working on. She went into that side aerial. She must have place her foot in the wrong spot because instead of flipping over she slipped and fell.
It was whatever. Maggie got back up, prepping to do the sequence one more time. The result same as before. She hesitated before the flip and help. Slamming her fist on the ground in frustration.
"Take a break Margret Walker. Eat something, you can try again afterwards" The rookie defenseman rushed over to help the dancer up.
Maggie nodded letting Brock guide her to the food that for sure had cold by now. Nonetheless she still began to eat the chicken, rice, bean, cheese and salsa burrito bowl. She used a chip to scoop up a chunk of the mixture for a bit of added crunch.
"Feel better?" Maggie nodded with a toothy smile. She made sure not to eat too much of the filling meal, she had to get back to work and she had a late night class to teach.
The elite dancer got into place. She taking a deep breath, she pliéed and began to spin but it was short lived. She started felling the nerves again. Getting into her head, Maggie lost count and fell out.
"Do you think you could count for me?" Brock agreed and Maggie instructed him on the tempo.
Maggie got back into her starting position as Brock started to count. "one, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight" Split jump down to a roll, formation change, roll again, pirouette á la seconde times 10, aerial into three more pirouette á la secondes, and finishing off with two regular pirouettes.
"I got it!" "You did it!" The two friends cheered jumping towards each other in excitement. They ended closer than they thought with their noses practically touching and his hands on her waist.
Brock's eyes were focused on her lips. He felt as though he should kiss her. It's not like her hasn't ever thought about it before. It was more that, her brother's one of his good friends and teammates. And you don't date your teammates sisters. But she was so pretty and funny, kind and -
"Oh my god, is that the time? I'm gonna be late for class." Maggie slipped away, hurriedly collecting her things. Her feet were out the door before she turn back to him. Standing on her tip toes she kissed him.
Pulling back she grinned at him "We'll finish this later"

Daily Check-in - July 27, 2023 🎀
Today was easier than yesterday, but I am still so sleepy and tired. I have to work a full shift tomorrow AND Saturday on top of my weekend chores so I'm hoping to take Sunday as a full self care day! Fingers crossed!!
🩷 What I Ate Today:
Breakfast - One slice of toast with mashed avocado, paprika, a fried egg, and a side of watermelon, and one cup of coffee.
Lunch - ground beef burrito bowl with black beans, shredded cheese, chopped iceberg lettuce, sour cream, salsa, and a low carb tortilla.
Dinner - One plate of spaghetti with meat marinara sauce, grated parmesean cheese, and two pieces of buttered bread
Other - One cup of coffee with French vanilla creamer
Water ~ 30oz I just forgot to drink water today, but using my water bottle has gotten easier and helped me drink more during the work day.
I didn't feel like snacking much today, and I couldn't finish my lunch, but I am very satisfied with my intake today! I love eating healthier and listening to my body. I do track what I eat, but I make sure it's food I like! Given my past, I can't do restrictions, so I choose to honor my wants in a way that works towards my goals and nourishes both my mind and body.
🩷 Workout - Upper Body Pilates (ish)
Tumblr media
This one was really good! It was my first time trying it and it had my arms burning in a good way. I really enjoyed it, and I totally recommend. This is definitely going to be a regular of mine! 10/10
Tumblr media
This one has been a favorite for a few years, I absolutely love the way it makes my arms feel. The movements are easy and effective, and leave me sore in a good way. Absolutely my favorite lean arms workout, hands down! 11/10
🩷 Habits I Completed Today:
Made my bed
Morning & Night Skincare
Morning & Night Guided Journal
Read 1 Chapter of a book
Workout
I forgot to do my mediation and stretching, and I didn't meet my hydration goal, but I'm taking every day in stride and doing what my energy allows me to accomplish. I believe in self compassion and flexibility in routine, especially given how my energy fluctuates on a daily basis. However, I am definitely doing the full habits list tomorrow, I'm going to challenge myself to accomplish every daily goal I have for myself!
🩷 Song of The Day: Eleven - IVE
This song makes me feel like a badass princess who deserves only the highest level of princess treatment. It's hard to describe how feminine and girly this song makes me feel, even on my most tomboyish, sweaty work days. An absolute bop!!
🩷 Current Read: Atomic Habits by James Clear
Tomorrow, I can do this. I can meet my goals, all of them. It'll take some effort, but I have faith in myself. Once I get the ball rolling, it's just a matter of forward motion with accomplishing each of my goals. I can't wait!!
I also need to budget for next Saturday, as I'm going shopping for some new clothes before my university opens back up for the fall semester. If I'm gonna feel my best, I'm going to look my best too! I'm really hoping to get a few new dresses, accessories (like hair stuff, pantyhose, jelwery, purses, etc), shoes, and maybe some tops and skirts too depending on what the store has. I love shopping, so I'm super excited!!!
Til tomorrow, my lovelies!! <3

What the Kids from South Park Order at Mexican Restaurants
Stan
Loves a good sizzling Fajita
Like the ones where it’s served to the customer while it’s still steaming.
He likes to eat that with rice and a tortilla
And he gets super annoyed when people oggle over his food and ask him for some especially when they first bring it out.
Kyle
Saw birria tacos on TikTok once and never stopped ordering them since
But before then he ordered a burrito of any kind.
Then gets guacamole as an appetizer
One time he got so hungry he ate a burrito that had piping hot queso cheese drizzled on top of it with his bare hands like a regular burrito and everyone just sat there in awe.
Kenny
erm.
a glass of water?
JK JK IM SORRY
He’s usually eating on someone else’s bill and he’ll get something cheap like a chicken taco kids meal
Let’s just say he’s acquired money from God knows where. He’d get a combo that comes with a taco, a burrito, and an enchilada
Cartman
One of everything.
JK JK I HAVE JOKES
He’d get what Kenny wants to have (the taco burrito and enchilada combo) with a side of kids meal french fries to substitute the usual rice and beans.
It’s funny to him because he knows how much Kenny would love to have the meal but can’t afford it. He gets a delicious meal and a laugh.
Butters
Hmmm I think my boy will be having a burrito bowl with chicken. Plenty of avocados and corn and lettuce. No tomatoes.
Either that or three shrimp tacos.
Whatever he orders he splits with Kenny. Like if he orders a bowl, half of it goes to Kenny. If he orders the tacos, he’ll have one, Kenny’ll have one, and they both split the third.
Always gets a virgin pina colada margarita!
Craig
Okay so he only gets one of two things
He either gets carne asada with rice and beans, or he gets pollo loco (chicken and queso on a bed of rice. AKA the SouthieParkie Meal)
If he’s feeling extra boujie he’ll get a spicy pepper soup for an appetizer.
He also gets sopapillas after every meal.
Tweek
Chicken Tacos. Always.
And he also gets a cup of chili con queso as an appetizer.
And he shares it with Craig :)
Also enjoys fried ice cream! It freaks him out though because he has absolutely no idea how they fry it but it stays. Ice creamy? Yk??
Clyde
Steak burrito always!
Though if he even SMELLS a tomato in it he will break down.
Not literally but like he hates tomatoes just know that.
Also he likes to stay far away from seafood options. He likes to be extra cautious in case of any shellfishness radiating from the food.
Jimmy
Hmmm I think he’s a loaded nachos kinda guy.
Either that or will order fish tacos solely to make the fish dicks joke all night.
Also prefers black beans over refried beans.
Tolkien
Birria tacos!!!
Either that or a regular chicken taco with loaded papas fritas.
And he also gets chili con queso with extra jalapeños and it freaks Tweek out beyond belief.
Like Tweek is on the verge of tears after one while Tolkien eats like eight and doesn’t move a muscle.

This is to help any Ana’s who’s family frequently eats fast food, like mine does. Here are some lower cal fast food options that actually taste good!
Whataburger: a grilled chicken sandwich with apples and Diet Coke as a side. To make this lower cal and yummier I switch the brioche bun for a small bun, get it toasted on both sides, take off tomato, add grilled onions and grilled jalapeño, and switch the Whatasauce for the creamy pepper sauce. This comes out to 395 cals.
Wendy’s: a small chili. This is 295 cals. If you need a side then get 4pc spicy or regular nuggets, no sauce. And Wendy’s normally has the Coca Cola freestyle machine, so I like to get cherry Vanilla Coke Zero. This brings it to 485 cals.
McDonald’s: a cheeseburger happy meal, with apples as a side. This is 320 cals.
Burger King: a cheeseburger as it comes is 280 cals. If you need a side, 6 pc chicken fries are good. This comes out to 500 ish together without sauce. A little high cal for me but not too bad.
Bojangles: roasted chicken bites, 350 cals. For a side grits add 90 for a total of 440.
Taco Bell: chipotle chicken melt for 190 cals. I like mild sauce with it, if you didn’t know all their sauces are 0 cal. I would get the black beans and rice as a side, which adds 160 for a total of 350. If you need something more filling I would get the cantina chicken power bowl for 470.
Popeyes: their blackened chicken is suppperrr good, better than the og imo. I get 3pc blackened strips with a side of mashed potatoes and gravy for 280 cals total.
Sonic: I’m a breakfast girl so I would typically get the jr bacon breakfast burrito, especially because they have 24h breakfast, for 280. If you would like a burger instead get the jr cheeseburger for 330 cals.
Chik-fl-a: a cup of chicken noodle soup for 145. Or if you’d like, just order a chicken sandwhich and only eat half. (I only say that because no one goes to chik-Fl-a for soup and if you don’t honor your cravings it can cause a binge in the long run)
Starbucks: venti iced coffee, splash of vanilla sweet cream, 3 pumps of sugar free vanilla, and caramel drizzle for 110 calories. For actual food I would get the egg white and red pepper bites for 170, if you got both this would total to 280 cals.
Hope this helps!

it's huge and i always get two meals out of it lol
18. your boba/tea order?
i actually drove over an hour to the city in hs and bought a boba tea and was heartbroken to learn that i hate boba 😩 something about the texture..

Around lunch time, Cordelia and Andrea did their regular ritual of heading out back to the Chipotle stand, grabbing 2 burrito bowls and eating together. They'd typically small talk over lunch, but today they had a lot to talk about.
Tumblr media
"I didn't get a chance to check in with you before your shift started." Andrea glanced over at her daughter, concern all over her face. "So? How'd it go with your Aunty Di?" "
Oh, that. Well, it went fine. She just asked me if I could show Matthew around the first week of school."
Tumblr media
"You told her, no, right?"
"Well...."
Andrea sighed. "I knew it. I knew I should've insisted she ask you in front of me. She coerced you into it, didn't she?"
"Mama—"
"It's OK. You don't have to do it. I'll talk to her and get you out of it."
Tumblr media Tumblr media
"Mama—"
Dre clicked her tongue. "And after I made her promise me she wouldn't try and guilt you, and she goes right in and does the opposite. I can't believe her!" And then she paused. "Never mind. Yes I can."
"Mama, it's fine."
"Fine? How can it be fine?"
Tumblr media Tumblr media
"She preyed on your good nature and manipulated you into helping her. That's not fine!"
"But it is fine because she didn't manipulate me. I wanted to help her. She said something that really got to me. About Matthew not being able to spend the last 4 years of his youth at home."
Tumblr media Tumblr media
"Four years isn't a long time, and after that, we'll all be leaving home. I'd hate it if I didn't have these final years with you and Daddy. So, even though Matthew can be a jerk, I wouldn't want that for him either."
"Well, that's very sweet of you. He better appreciate it."
Tumblr media Tumblr media
"It helps that the second he's mean I can bail on him." Cordie smirked.
"And you're sure? Cause all you have to do is say the word, and I can pull you out of it."
"I'm very sure. Who knows, maybe Matthew really is a proper gentleman now." She snorted. "But forget about him."

My mom, and her mom, were and are great cooks, but we were also very much the kind of family that relied on basic (and essentially timeless) recipes, and my grandma was born around the 1920s, and my mom was born at the beginning of the 60s.
Both my mom and her mom worked full-time and raised multiple kids (and my mom lost her dad when she was young, so my great-aunt who I've mentioned before many times, moved in to help raise her and her four brothers) and so they needed affordable, filling, easy recipes.
Which meant we had a lot of meatloaf (with fries or potatoes of some kind, and if we were feeling fancy or wanted to stretch it, with cheese and sliced ham in the center), casseroles of all kind (to this day I still crave her tuna casserole, which is basically canned tuna, white sauce - canned white sauce pre-my dad's celiac - and crushed potato chips for the topping and in the mix? I don't think there was any pasta or noodles involved), grilled hot dogs and hamburgers (the latter with 80/20 ground beef, ketchup or bbq sauce, and onion soup mix or other seasonings) with fries (and steak or pork chops or chicken if we wanted to step it up a bit), breakfast for dinner during lent or when not wanting to do too much (so pancakes and scrambled eggs and bacon or sausage), tacos and burritos (seasoned ground beef or shredded chicken or, if my dad was feeling it, carnitas, with tortillas and taco shells and cheese and other toppings), big things of baked pastas (and just regular cooked pasta), chili (sometimes with cornbread or french bread) and the infamous hamburger rice - which is basically ground beef and onions in a tomato sauce (homemade/from scratch if so inclined but otherwise canned or jarred) with canned corn and a fuckton of rice, mixed together (sometimes baked but otherwise just a big pot of rice mixed with a beefy tomato sauce and canned corn and onions) and with cheese sprinked on or included. (This is the dish we ate a ton because of my dad's celiac and because it was cheap, quick, and easy, and it's why I have to fight to get over my avoidance of rice dishes to this day).
My mom's potato salad (and macaroni salad, since the only difference is whether you use potatoes or noodles) is basically just potatoes (or noodles) parboiled and then cubed, mixed with onion, pimento, mayo, ketchup, mustard, a small amount of paprika, and salt and pepper - and I also crave it to this day. (When I was an infant I once ended up in the trunk of my parents' car and proceeded to help myself to the bowl that was there for the picnic the family was having at Kennedy Grove.
That's not all we ate (because it was the 90s and early 2000s, and both me and my mom love chinese takeout and prime rib, and because there is always some evolution and differentiation) but that was basically what we had, and it was pretty much what she had when she was growing up too, so we basically ate mid-century meals well into the beginning of the 21st century.

BEST AFFORDABLE RESTAURANT
Eating out doesn’t have to break the bank. In fact, some of the most memorable dining experiences can come from discovering the best inexpensive restaurant in your area. Whether you're a college student on a budget, a family looking to stretch your dining dollars, or simply someone who loves a good deal, finding great food at a low cost is always a win. In this blog, we'll explore how to find the best inexpensive restaurants and what makes these dining spots truly exceptional.
 What Makes a Restaurant Inexpensive?
Before diving into where to find these gems, it’s important to define what we mean by "inexpensive." Generally, an inexpensive restaurant offers a full meal for under  15 per person. The key is that the food should be both delicious and satisfying, without sacrificing quality for the price.
Tips for Finding the Best Inexpensive Restaurant
Do Your Research  Online reviews and food blogs can be invaluable when hunting for budget-friendly eats. Websites like Yelp, TripAdvisor, and local food blogs often highlight hidden gems that may not be on the typical dining radar.
Ask the Locals  Locals often know the best spots that aren't necessarily advertised. Don't be afraid to ask for recommendations from friends, coworkers, or even your barista at the coffee shop.
Many ethnic restaurants offer amazing food at lower prices. From Mexican taquerias to Thai noodle houses, ethnic eateries often provide authentic, flavorful dishes that are easy on the wallet.
Look for Daily Specials Some restaurants offer special deals or discounts on certain days of the week. Happy hours, lunch specials, and daily deals can turn a regular meal into a budget-friendly feast.
Check Out Food Trucks  Food trucks can be a fantastic source of inexpensive, high-quality meals. They often serve gourmet-style food at a fraction of the price you’d pay in a sit-down restaurant
The Charm of Local Diners and Cafés
Local diners and cafés are often champions of affordable dining. These establishments frequently serve hearty portions of comfort food and are a great choice for breakfast, lunch, or dinner without straining your budget. Plus, they often have a unique charm and personal touch that larger chains lack.
 Highlighting Some Top Picks
Here are a few examples of types of inexpensive restaurants you might want to check out:
The Corner Diner  Known for its generous portions and classic American fare, this diner offers everything from pancakes and burgers to meatloaf and pie. The casual atmosphere and affordable prices make it a favorite for locals.
If you're craving Mexican food, this spot is a must-visit. With tacos, burritos, and quesadillas at wallet-friendly prices, it’s perfect for a quick and satisfying meal.
This small, family-run noodle shop serves up steaming bowls of ramen and pho that are both flavorful and budget-conscious. It’s a great place for a quick lunch or casual dinner.
For those looking for vegetarian or vegan options, this restaurant offers a range of plant-based dishes that are both delicious and affordable. From hearty veggie burgers to fresh salads, it’s a hit among plant-based eaters and omnivores alike.
Why Value Matters
Choosing an inexpensive restaurant doesn't mean you have to sacrifice quality or taste. Often, these places focus on providing great food and a welcoming atmosphere without the high markups of more upscale establishments. They’re a testament to the idea that you don’t need to spend a lot to enjoy a fantastic meal.
Making the Most of Your Experience
If you’re dining with friends or family, consider sharing dishes. This way, you can sample more items while keeping costs down.
Look for Combo Deals  Many inexpensive restaurants offer combo meals or meal deals that provide excellent value for your money.
Sometimes the best deals are found when you’re open to trying something new or stepping out of your usual comfort zone.
In conclusion, the best inexpensive restaurants offer more than just a meal—they provide an experience that combines quality, affordability, and a touch of local flavor. So next time you’re looking to eat out without spending a fortune, remember that some of the best dining experiences can come from discovering these budget-friendly spots. Happy dining!

With fresh zucchini, black beans, corn, quinoa, and Mexican spices, this simple and tasty meatless meal is full of heartiness. When cooked on a grill, these burrito boats are a tasty and healthy take on regular burritos.
Ingredients: 4 large zucchinis, halved lengthwise. 1 cup cooked black beans. 1 cup corn kernels fresh or frozen. 1 cup diced tomatoes. 1/2 cup diced red onion. 1/2 cup chopped bell peppers assorted colors. 1 jalapeo, finely chopped optional. 1 cup cooked quinoa or rice. 1 cup shredded Mexican cheese blend. 1/4 cup chopped fresh cilantro. 1 teaspoon ground cumin. 1 teaspoon chili powder. 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder. Salt and pepper to taste. Salsa and guacamole for serving.
Instructions: Preheat the barbecue grill to medium heat. Using a spoon, scoop out the center of each zucchini half, creating 'boats'. In a large bowl, mix together black beans, corn, tomatoes, red onion, bell peppers, jalapeo if using, quinoa or rice, 1/2 cup of shredded cheese, cilantro, cumin, chili powder, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Stuff each zucchini boat with the mixture and sprinkle the remaining cheese on top. Place the zucchini boats on the preheated grill and close the lid. Cook for 15-20 minutes or until the zucchinis are tender and the cheese is melted and bubbly. Carefully remove the burrito boats from the grill and let them cool slightly before serving. Serve with salsa and guacamole on the side. Enjoy your delicious Mexican Zucchini Burrito Boats!
