August theme: Coastal
Tropical reef: Bubble-tip Anemone (Entacmaea quadricolor)
Temperate reef: Brown-lined Paperbubble (Hydratina physis)
Intertidal: Carpet Sea Star (Meridiastra calcar)
Sand: Wandering Anemone (Phlyctenactis tuberculosa)
Fun facts under the read more!
Bubble-tip anemone are insanely cool; on top of being host to clownfish, this anemone's physical appearance is affected by the lighting, depth, and other factors. Adults with stringier, more commonly recognized anemone tentacles live in deeper depths where less sunlight falls. Younger animals tend to be found closer to the surface, clustered together with their iconic round tentacle tips.

The Brown-lined paperbubble is an incredible name for a sea snail. Their shells glow red under ultraviolet light and nocturnally hunts bristleworms. Their genus Hydatina is distinct for having a much smaller shell proportional to their brightly colored mantles!
Tumblr media
The carpet sea star is an australian sea star found across the southern coastline. They're pretty small, in the 5-10 cm range, but more than make up for that with incredible range of coloration and patterns!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The Wandering Anemone is exactly what you expect and more! Venomous and mobile, at night this anemone detaches from its spot and floats and crawls around looking for prey. It will even climb objects just for a better chance to grab a snack, waving from whatever it's holding onto.

The Bubble-tip anemone (Entacmaea quadricolor) is a species of sea anemone in the family Actiniidae which is native to the tropical waters of the Indian and Pacific Oceans being found in particular abundance in the Red Sea. In the wild, E. quadricolor are found in two locations. Large adult specimens, with tentacles that are more streaming or stringy, are often found in deeper waters with more dimly lit conditions. These specimens are often solitary, while smaller, younger specimens are often located in groups or colonies nearer to the surface, in bright sunlight. These specimens tend to show the bulbous tips on their tentacles that are characteristic of E. quadricolor. A characteristic of E. quadricolor is its ability to maintain a symbiotic relationship with anemonefish, anemone shrimp, porcelain crabs, and domino damsels which can be "hosted" by the anemone by providing it with defence against predators and also providing some nourishment. In turn, the anemone provides the fish/ crustacean with shelter. These anemones get the majority of there energy from from solar radiation via its symbiotic zooxanthellae, and can also obtain nutrients by filter feeding using its sweeping tentacles, or through wastes and debris cleaned from the surface of its partner fish/ crustacean. E. quadricolor anemones appear in a variety of colors including rose, orange, red, and green. This sea anemone can grow to be up to nearly a foot in diameter. There breeding season lasts from January to april during such time they broad cast spawn, with each anemone releasing its gametes into the water column to join with others and form free-swimming planula larvae which remain in the open water for up to 59 days before settling down on the sea floor to grow into there adult form. They can also reproduce asexually using longitudinal fission. Under ideal conditions a bubble tip anemone may live several hundred years.

Taking a bath with them♡
𝑫𝒂𝒛𝒂𝒊, 𝑪𝒉𝒖𝒚𝒂, 𝑨𝒌𝒖𝒕𝒂𝒈𝒂𝒘𝒂, 𝑹𝒂𝒏𝒑𝒐 𝒙 𝒓𝒆𝒂𝒅𝒆𝒓
Genre: fluff/ slight nsfw♡
Not requested but I wanted to write this for a while. enjoy♡

he's a bit tricky at first cuz he's reluctant to let you see him without bandages, but if you keep insisting he will eventually indulge you
"Only this one time, bella" he says but he loves it so much that now you take baths together on a regular basis
sometimes the baths are quite romantic: with bubbles, scented candles and rose petals; other times he will bring rubber ducks and insist you play with him.
definitely helps you wash your back if you ask him♡
"Hehe, soapy tits" is something you hear every time there are bubbles
uses baths as a form of aftercare too
"Hey Osamu" you say as you stepped into your shared bedroom "I wanna ask you something"
"Sure, bella. What is it?"
"So I've been thinking and I'd really like to take a bath with you"
Dazai's eyebrows shot up in surprise at your proposal. "But bella, it's late plus it's really hot outside. Do you really think it's the best time for a bath?" he asked in a doubtful tone.
You crossed your arms over your chest and pursed your lips "I guess you're right. Sorry I bother you sweetheart".
Your boyfriend noticed the hint of disappointment in your voice, an overwhelming feeling of guilt taking over him. He hated to shut you down like that but he didn't think he was ready to take off his bandages in front of you. Unless...
He quickly discarded the book he was reading on the mattress and made his way to you, arms locking around your waist "Actually, I think I could use a bath. And you never bother me, my sweet belladonna"
You agreed to let him prepare the bath and half an hour later when you walked into the bathroom you were met with a deep scent of vanilla. Dazai had filled the tub to the brim and was now submerged in the water; the only source of light was provided by a few scented candles, their flickering flames illuminating the curls of steam that rose from the tub.
You didn't know how your boyfriend did all of this in thirty minutes but it was more than you could've asked for. With a giddy smile on your face, you dropped the cotton towel that was wrapped around your body and tip toed to the tub. As you slid in some water spilled over the edge. You leaned against Dazai's chest, his arms instinctively wrapping around your waist to hold you closer.
"So, is my pretty girl satisfied?" he asked after a few minutes of silence.
"Yes, thank you Osamu. I'm really happy" you replied in a cheerful tone, gently sweezing his forearm.
He chuckled lowly as his fingers started gliding up and down your thigh. "And is there anything else I could do to make this evening ever better?". His breath was hot against the shell of your ear, his honeyed voice making you rub your thighs in anticipation; you needn't look at him to know that he had that mischevious grin plastered on his face.
When his hands got close to your core you seized his wrists, pushing him away.
"Not now Osamu. Let's just enjoy the bath please"
"As you wish, bella" he replied in his usual amused tone. He rested his elbows on the edge of the tub as he took in your figure; the tips of your hair that reached the water and seemed to bloom, floating around like sea anemones, the soft round of your shoulders, the arch of your brow. A warm feeling nestled into his chest, making his heart beat faster and he pulled you closer, pressing a kiss on the crown of your head. He closed his eyes, allowing the hot vapors to cloud his senses.
"Thanks for doing this with me, love"
"Anytime" you replied, leaning further into his touch.
𝑪𝒉𝒖𝒚𝒂
he has one of those huge, fancy jacuzzi tubs with pretty lights
when you first ask him to take a bath together he's all for it. he preps the tub, brings champagne, grapes and other little snacks for you to enjoy
he's a romantic so for sure he has tall red candles engraved with intricate patterns
loves to cuddle you and always offers to wash your hair or massage your tense shoulders while whispering sweet nothings
when you're done he will wrap you in a fuzzy bathrobe and do some skincare with you
It's been a long and stressful week at work and you couldn't wait to get home and finally rest. You quickly tapped the six digits code, nails clicking against the glass screen of the digital lock, and you entered your apartment. As you slammed the door shut and started taking off your coat, your mind was so clouded by sheer exhaustion that you didn't even notice your boyfriend lounging on the couch. His voice suddenly snapped you out of that state.
"Hey darling. How was work?"
"Oh Chu dear. I didn't expect to see you tonight." Your boyfriend worked late hours and at the end of the week he was usually caught up in meetings, so you were used to him coming home well after 10 p.m.
"Well, I decided to come home early today and spend some time with you. Plus, I have a surprise" he said as he got up from the couch, beckoning you to follow him.
"I don't know Chu. I'm really tired tonight I just wanna go to sleep" you whined, causing the man to smile sweetly.
"Oh trust me dear, you're gonna like this."
You followed him to the bathroom and he slid the door open. The large tub was filled with steaming water and bubbles; the few candles placed on its edge cast a warm light over the walls of the room. Next to the window that overlooked the gleaming city laid a little marble table with two empty glasses and a bowl of white grapes.
Your eyes glittered with joy as you turned to face your partner "This is amazing thank you so much Chu"
"Come on, get in. The water's gonna run cold" teased your boyfriend "I'm gonna go get us something and be right there with you."
You quickly slipped out of your work uniform and slid into the water, allowing its warmth to relax your tense muscles. Your gaze drifted out the window to the city, its buildings shining against the dark blue sky; no matter how many times you saw it, the view never ceased to fascinate you.
Soon after Chuya returned with a bottle of cold champagne and poured some in the crystal glasses before joining you in the tub.
While you sipped the sparkling wine you talked about trivial things: work, plans for the weekend, good and bad things that happened that day. At some point Chuya pulled you closer to him, his face nuzzling the crook of your neck and for the first time in weeks you were able to relax.
"Thank you darling" you spoke softly, your fingers gently stroking his red curls. "This is wonderful. We should do this more often"
You felt him smile against your neck, a chuckle escaping his lips "We shall, if you wish so. Now let me wash your hair dear"
You nodded eagerly, reaching for the shampoo bottle. He took his time to massage your scalp and then moved on to your shoulders, earning a soft moan from you when his thumbs rubbed your sore muscles.
"Just relax and let me take care of your, okay?" he whispered as he planted a kiss on your forehead. You closed your eyes and allowed him to work the tension out of your body.
By the time the bath was ready you were fully relaxed and half asleep.
"Can we go to bed now?" you managed to utter between yawns "I'm sleepy"
When you got to bed you snuggled up against his chest, slender fingers entangled in his hair. "You smell good Chu" was all you said before drifting into a dreamless sleep.
Your boyfriend only chuckled, arms snaking around your torso. He whispered a sweet I love you before shutting his eyes, letting your steady breath lull him to sleep.
𝑨𝒌𝒖𝒕𝒂𝒈𝒂𝒘𝒂
it takes a lot of patience and effort to get him to take a bath with you because he's lowkey kinda scared of intimacy and doesn't like not having rashomon with him; it makes him feel vulnerable
the first time you bathe together he is a blushing mess and he does his best not to look at your body but after you reassure him that it's ok to look he'll relax a little
uses baths as a form of aftercare or to cheer you up after a stressful day
although he doesn't admit it, he loves it when you put scented oils in the water
he has a little table next to the tub so you can drink tea while bathing♡
not a big fan of keeping the lights on but he does like candles
His first impulse was to say no, to shut down your initiative and hide in the bedroom for the rest of the evening, but the pleading look on your face made him hesitate.
"Come on Ryu it'll be fun. Consider this a bonding experience." you said with a wide smile.
He wasn't keen on your idea to take a bath together, but he knew that even if he refused today you'd bring it up again tomorrow or in a couple of days. So why not get it over with?
"Alright" he replied in a harsh tone "But make it quick"
Your smile grew even wider as you nodded eagerly, making your way to the bathroom to prepare the tub. "Just give me a few minutes"
In the meantime Akutagawa retreated to the bedroom to mentally prepare himself for the bath. Once again his worries were haunting him like a pack of hyenas; although you had been together for quite some time he still wasn't used to closeness. Even during intimate moments he kept Rashomon close by and you didn't seem to mind it, but he knew it would be absurd to bring his coat in the bathroom. And what if he messed it up and ruined the experience for you?
His train of thought was interrupted by your voice "I'm ready Ryu. Come here"
He took in a deep breath, pushing the racing thoughts to the back of his mind and hesitantly made his way to the bathroom. When he opened the door and saw you in the tub, wet hair running down to your chest and cheeks slightly flushed from the steam, his face turned a deep shade of pink. The back of his hand came to cover his mouth, something he did whenever he was nervous.
He quickly undressed and neatly folded his clothes, placing them on the laundry basket before stepping into the tub with you. At first he avoided looking at you, afraid of what you might say or do, opting to focus on the light herbal scent that lingered in the air.
You found his uneasiness absolutely adorable. He was fiercely gripping the sides of the acrylic tub, fingers curling over its edge. His eyes were darting around the room and his face was getting paler by the second. You nudged his thigh with your feet, making him jolt in surprise.
"Relax, Ryu. You look like you've seen a ghost" you snickered "Do you dislike this that much?"
There was a trace of worry in your voice which made your boyfriend curse himself.
"No, it's not that. I really like it it's just that..." he paused for a secons but you enouraged him to continue. "I'm still not used to being this close with someone, to doing such domestic things. It's strange"
You tilted your head to the side, a few strands of hair falling over your face as you flashed him a smile. "I know it's hard for you Ryu, but you can let your guard down and be vulnerable around me. I'll always be here for you and I'm really proud of how far we're come"
His body visibly relaxed at your words and he sighed loudly. "I know. Thanks for being so patient with me dear."
"Eh don't mention it. After all, I do love you"
Love... he thought as he held your gaze, your eyes sparkling with joy and for the first time since you started dating he said it back.
With a swift movement you got on your knees and leaned in, placing a small peck on his forehead "I know, dear. Don't worry about it"
𝑹𝒂𝒏𝒑𝒐
he is constantly complaining abour the water temperature
bro is restless. it's a miracle if you get him to sit still for ten minutes; but a good way to do that is to ask him to tell you about cases he solved
if he gets bored he will start a bubble fight
he also brings along some snacks which can be annoying sometimes since crumbs always end up falling into the water
always asks you to wash his hair and back
lowkey has a thing for bath bombs
"Ranpo, stop that!" you whined as your boyfriend threw a handful of bath bubbles at you.
"Not until you pay attention to me" he said with a pout, preparing to launch another ball of foam at you.
"Alright, alright I got it". You closed the mystery book you were reading and carefully placed it on the table next to the tub. "Happy now, you little baby?"
Ranpo's lips stretched into a grin, his vivid green eyes meeting yours "Very much sugar cube. Now don't you want to hear how the world's greatest detective solved today's mistery?"
You crossed your arms over your chest and returned an enthusiastic smile "Go on. I'm all ears"
"So there was this guy that was planning to bomb three diners, right? And he sent us a note this morning announcing the time of the attacks and stating that we will never be able to guess the locations. Of course, Kunikida panicked because we only had three hours to find and disarm the bombs but I saw right through it. This whole charade was only meant to distract us from the real plan: the robbery of a bank. So silly, he really thought was going to get away with it" He spoke with such an unshakeable confidence that you could barely contain the proud smile that rose to your lips "So then we took care of the bombs and prevented the robbery. Quite an easy day I could say"
"You know Ranpo, sometimes I wonder how you do it" you chuckled lightly.
He pointed at his head with the lollipop he was eating, his eyes gleaming with mischief "It's all up here darling"
You gestured him to give you the candy but when he extended his arm you seized his wrists, yanking him forward; he fell on top of you, the sudden motion causing some water to spill on the ground. "Aha I got you now!" you exclaimed excitedly.
"What was that for?" he whined, wiping the bubbles off his face with the back of his hand.
Just as he was cleaning his eyes your fingers slid through his hair and grabbed a fistful of it, pulling him into a passionate kiss. A moan escaped Ranpo's lips as he returned the kiss, his arms resting on the edge of the tub for support. (You knew how fond your boyfriend was of such saccharine affections.)
When you eventually pulled away he rested his head on your chest and began kneading the plush of your hips. "My o my I didn't know you liked my stories this much. I'll make sure to tell you more" he teased
"You're amazing darling. But I'd really like to finish my chapter now. Do you mind if I read?"
Ranpo hummed against your chest and you started running your fingers through his brown locks to give him something to focus on. With your free hand you picked up the book, struggling a bit to flip through the pages.
You have been reading for roughly ten minutes when your boyfriend suddenly mumbled something.
"What's that, dear? I didn't catch it?"
Ranpo straightened himself and looked you dead in the eyes before repeating what he just said.
"The main character dies at the end. Her cousin kills her because she'd been embezzling large sums from their company and the main character found out. She didn't want the secret to come out, you know?"
"You little-" you yelled, tossing a handful of foam at him. Ranpo only laughed, leaning in to capture your lips in a quick kiss. "Don't deny it sugar. You love me"
"You bet I do. But your ultra deduction really spoils the fun sometimes."

TW: chest dysphoria, drowning, spicy content
this is a continuation of my previous microfic Adventure

---------------------------------------------------------------------
They appeared with a crack on a wooded muggle street across from an empty parking lot. All was quiet apart from the buzz of the streetlights and a bird somewhere in the trees.
“Just a second, Love,” James muttered, pointing his wand at the top of a pole where a camera turned away from them.
“And do you know how many cameras there are here? Where they all are?” hissed Regulus
“The guard is a 78 year old grandfather who dozes off after 9. I think we’ll be ok,” James quips, but he is walking quickly and quietly, staying in the shadows.
“I so don’t want to know how you know that,” Regulus drolls, following silently.
James stunned a camera at the doors of a low building and Alohamora’d the lock quietly, slipping in and pulling Reg by the hand behind him. Reg took care of two cameras behind the ticket desk and James shot him a look of respect. The younger boy raised an arched eyebrow imperiously. James was gazing fondly and seemed distracted until Reg pointedly looked around the lobby and the various exhibits and hallways leading off it. James shook himself a little and towed Regulus down a dark hallway, taking out cameras as they went down a slope into an underground room. It was sparse and utilitarian with large cement blocks to use as benches and little else but as they came down the sloped hallway Regulus could see the entire back wall was a huge, curved fish tank. He caught his breath in the darkened room, a huge multicolour coral reef lit in blue stretched from below their feet to surface level some 15 feet above their heads. Regulus and James walked closer slowly, hand-in-hand, taking in the full splendor. Regulus pressed his pale cheek to the glass, craning his neck and peeking up at the surface of the water that opened onto the night sky. Colourful fish of every description darted about, tickled by anemone, hiding in the coral. It was a whole other world.
Tumblr media
  “James,” Reg breathed, “it’s beautiful.”
But James was gazing at him, beaming, “it is. Let’s go see,” and he tugged Reg’s hand over to a door marked “Staff Only,” unlocking it silently and starting to open it, something beeped and they both shot freezing charms at different parts of the door. It stopped beeping but they looked at each other, unsure which spell had stopped it. James froze for a moment, listening and looking around but nothing happened. He shrugged and pulled them both through into the dark back room. Regulus lit his wand tip and James stunned a camera before lighting his own and looking around a bit. They seemed to be behind the background coral reef in the huge tank. There were several levels of scaffolding holding buckets, pumps, shelves of chemicals and hoses, fish food, and cut seaweed. Various machines whirred and bubbled and splashed, dripping in several places. There were ladders and scrub brushes and nets on long poles and a wall of scuba gear hung on pegs.
“Ah yes, much more romantic back here,” Regulus grumbled, dodging a drip.
“Sure will be!” James sang, possibly too loudly, but it was pretty noisy back here anyway. He led the way to a metal stairway up to a door in the ceiling? He unlocked it and pulled Regulus out into the warm may evening, dropping the trap door quietly behind him. They had come out between two rock walls that curved around an access point to the pool. It was landscaped like a pond above ground, the ecosystem below benefiting from the sunlight. The semi-hidden area they stood in was not accessible or very visible from the rest of the grounds. The large rock walls and thick bushes formed barriers that discouraged the public from touching the water or entering the pool. This artificial rock formation had been built into the side of the building, camouflaging this staging area. A gate built into the rock provided access to the parking lot out front to their right and a passageway to the left led behind the aquarium building into the rest of the zoo. A pair of discarded flippers sat in the shadow of the rocks. It appeared the scuba divers came and went from here. James pulled the paper bag out of his pocket and offered it to Regulus, raising his eyebrows.
Tumblr media
“There’s only enough for about 15 min for the two of us. What do you say?”
Regulus could feel his heart trying to hammer out of his chest. They were going to get caught. This was such a bad idea. He was going to have to take his clothes off. In front of James Potter. But James would take his clothes off in front of him. That reef tank looked incredible. When would he ever get this chance again? He’d come this far. James worked so hard on this. He would be so sad if Reg said no. But he wanted Regulus to work on his boundaries. Did he want to swim with James Potter in a huge aquarium in the middle of the night in Germany? Yes. yes he did.
“Alright, hold on, it takes effect pretty quickly,” Regulus muttered, toeing off his shoes and pulling at his tie. James was gazing at him like he couldn’t believe his luck. “What? Are you going in fully dressed?” Reg asked, and James shook himself a little.
“No, you’re right,” James says and starts stripping quickly, shivering a bit in the breeze, trying not to watch Regulus undress. Regulus doesn’t hurry. He moves slowly, stealing sidelong glances at James to see how naked he intends to get. James stands in his underwear folding and bundling his clothes before Reg can get further than his shoes, socks, and tie. James in his underwear. Regulus swallowed hard. It’s not that he hadn’t seen James in his underwear. It was just that he hadn’t been alone with James in his underwear. In his underwear specifically in front of him. Where he was allowed to look. James’ light brown skin in the moonlight, muscles working as he bent over to pull the paper bag out of his trouser pocket. Regulus loosened his belt and let his trousers slide down, joining the pile of wand and shoes, and stepped toward the pool edge unbuttoning his shirt slowly. James sat and dangled his legs in the pool, which was first-gasp cold, apparently. James had seen him in the locker room. Had touched his chest a bit through clothes, pressed against him at least, that time they kissed and he wasn’t in a binder. He knew he was trans. He wouldn’t touch him if he said no. Leave it on or take it off? How naked did he want to feel? The thought sent a bolt of desire searing through him, making him bold. In for a knut, in for a galleon. He let the shirt slide off as he approached the pool edge and took a steadying breath before unzipping his binder and pulling it off, trying to act nonchalant about it. He sat on the edge of the pool dangerously close to James. The water was cool but not too cold against his bare legs. The breeze was making him very aware of how topless he was and he tried very hard not to hunch his shoulders or cover his small chest. He cleared his throat. James had been staring. At his face. He was a gentleman, but it looked like that was taking some effort.
“Shall we?” James held out the gillyweed and Reg took half the slimy strings, grimacing.
“Cheers,” Regulus smirked, shoving them in his mouth. He chewed as few times as possible to not choke, and swallowed several times. “You didn’t bring anything to drink did you...” Reg tried to say but he sputtered on the last word. James had followed suit and was similarly starting to choke, his lungs and throat rearranging themselves, his hands and feet growing webbed and elongated. It burned and his mouth and throat felt so dry he couldn’t breathe! James was clawing at the sides of his neck and Regulus did the only sensible thing, grabbing James by the shoulders and tipping them both into the pool.
It closed over their heads in a great splash and they plummeted down down down in a column of bubbles. Great slits tore in Regulus’s neck on either side and it didn’t hurt so much as it felt very disturbing. Cool water rushed in and he was drowning! No, he was breathing. It felt wrong and right and very strange but he inhaled deliberately, letting the cool water soothe the burn in his dry lungs, trying to calm down. Thrashing and panicking wasn’t going to help. wasn’t going to help. “Isn’t going to help, James!” he tried to say but it’s a string of bubbles in the dark water, swirling around them. James was rubbing his neck and wild eyed, flailing until Regulus grasped his shoulders again. He’s used gillyweed before. This is normal. Reg held James’ eye contact, deliberately pulling in a long breath of water and letting it out. Nodding to James to do the same. James held him back and breathed with him for a moment, then smiled. James held his hand up, wiggling his now webbed fingers and waving his hand to use the fin. He grinned, nodding that he’s ok now.
Tumblr media
Somewhere in making sure that James was ok, Reg was breathing easily, gently waving his elongated feet to tread water, remembering how gillyweed feels. They giggled a bit at each other, looking around. The faint blue glow of the viewing room below them illuminated a rainbow of coral, angelfish darting about in small schools, avoiding the small shark lazily lurking. It was a few inches longer than Regulus’s foot, curiously approaching them. James swam down past it, pulling on Regulus’ hand, and started pointing out different fish, eager to see Reg’s reaction.
Tumblr media
They were beautiful. So much complexity! Reg tickled an anemone and a stream of giggling bubbles escaped him when it pulled in all its tentacles in response. James waved his webbed hand to make a water current that flushed a school of small transparent cardinalfish out of some kelp, flashing neon blue.
Tumblr media
It was magic. They pointed out their favourites to each other, trying not to bother the creatures too much. Trying to see everything they could. When Reg saw an eel poking out from a rock burrow he pointed it out to James, turning to see his reaction. The eel apparently found this rude, flashing like a streak of sparks and giving Reg a little zap. He pulled back with a jolt, sucking on his zapped finger. James was smiling at him fondly and pulled his hand to his own mouth, kissing the fingertips and watching Reg’s reaction. Yes? Reg settled a hand on James’ hip and smiled. Yes. James traced his tongue in a languid circle around the tip of Regulus’s finger and gently sucked it into his mouth, slowly letting it escape as he pulled Reg in to kiss him.
Tumblr media
It’s an odd sensation, being able to breathe water as you kiss, it mingled in their mouths and the water around them, strangely intimate, warmed by each other’s bodies, which glowed heat in the pleasant cool dark of the water. Regulus’ tongue slid easily into James’ mouth who welcomed him gladly, caressing and tasting. The intoxicating taste of James Potter. Reg wanted to drink him in. He wrapped an arm tight around James’ waist, the other snaking around the back of his neck to play with his curls and cup the back of his head. “You’re mine now,” the touch said, “I’m keeping you.” James was pliant under his lips, wrapping his strong arms around Reg’s back, hooking his leg up around Reg’s hip. More than willing to accommodate however far he wanted to take this. Regulus’ bare chest pressed into the heat of James’ body felt very vulnerable and the thought ignited a fire in him. “This. I need This,” Reg thinks. “This boy. This magic. This life. Please don’t ever make me let him go. I need him. I need him as part of me. I need to be closer. I need him... inside me. I need to breathe him and taste him and drink him in and...” doesn’t this water feel a bit...wet in his lungs? Ah. the gillyweed. He would have to stop kissing James if he didn’t want to drown.  “I drown in him anyways, what difference does it make?” Reg pulled at James' hip and he responded enthusiastically, grinding into him. Liquid heat flooded his loins and that was too much. Too fast. His body was responding without his permission. Regulus started breathing too quickly and had to pull back. The motion pressed James’ groin into his and he gasped, choking. Shit. His hands were moving more easily through the water now, the webbing shrinking. They were out of time down here.
James was still kiss-dazed, lightly stroking Reg’s back, giving him breathing room and keeping him close. Calmly concerned and focused on the pale boy in his arms. Regulus grabbed his wrist and motioned toward the surface. James was starting to look a little distressed too, probably feeling the water in his lungs a bit too much. As their faces broke the surface the night air seared their skin and they both spent a few minutes coughing the water out. As the sputters subsided James flipped to float on his back, gazing up at the sky. When he seemed enraptured, Reg followed suit. The quiet evening was blanketed with stars. Reg reached out and took James’ hand to keep them from floating apart. James asked something about Orion and they chatted astronomy for a few minutes. This moment right here. Regulus wanted to memorize this and keep every part, perfect and unchanging, to live in his heart and keep him warm. This boy. This night. That would never happen again.
Tumblr media
“Hey! Was macht ihr Jungs da drin?” a rough old voice called from the gate and Regulus went ice cold. Keys were jingling in a lock. Adrenaline shot through them both, sending them scrambling to the edge of the pool. They slipped and splashed, pulling each other out, racing to where they’d left their clothes. James managed to snag his whole pile but Reg’s was less tidy. He scooped up his wand, pants, and shoes before the guard burst through the gate and James pulled him away, the screaming old man close on his heels. Laughing and bumping into each other, dripping salt water and clutching their clothes, they ran for anywhere out of sight to aparate. wet alabaster and golden skin shining in the moonlight as James whooped and Regulus cursed. As soon as they rounded the corner James called, “hold tight!” and wrapped his arms around Reg, spinning in the same movement. Regulus clung to his neck, their belongings crushed between them as they were squeezed and spinning tight tight tight, into the darkness.
They landed in the tunnel with a gasp, giggling and shivering, dripping water into the dirt floor, coating their bare feet in mud. James made his way to a small box in the corner where he pulled out folded towels, fluffy and soft, wrapped in a warming spell.
“I liked that shirt, damnit,” Reg grumbled, but he smiled. This evening was worth losing every shirt and binder he owned. They hadn’t even gotten arrested.
“Yeah me too,” James said. He wrapped a towel around Regulus’ shoulders and rubbed them, giggling. Regulus clutched the warm towel, covering his chest, trying to make it look like he was just cold. He gazed into James’ warm hazel eyes for a moment before clearing his throat and turning away to dry himself and dress as much as he could. James rubbed his hair dry, making it stick up in every direction. James pulled a thermos from the box and poured Reg a cup of hot chocolate.
“You really did have a plan this time,” Regulus mused, giving James a sidelong glance, “Kinda.”
  James grinned sheepishly, “I tried.”
“No I mean it,” Regulus said, as if realizing he did, “You put a lot of thought into this. I thought you only got the gillyweed this morning?"
“I always put a lot of thought into you,” James smiled for real this time. Earnest and bright and lovely. Regulus felt it warm him to his core.
“Why did you leave the towels in the tunnel though?”
  “Would ruin the surprise, obviously!”
  “Course. What was I thinking?”
They chatted and bantered all the way back to Hogwarts. As they emerged from the statue, James insisted on draping them both in the invisibility cloak and walking Regulus back, over his half hearted protests. Sneaking around after dark was one thing, doing so half naked and soaked is something else.
“You take the rest of the cocoa,” James wrapped Reg’s cold hands around the thermos at the door to the Slytherin common room.
“Why did you do all this?” Regulus asked, baffled. “You were going to pull a prank with the gillyweed”
James had a touch of confusion in his voice as he softly said, “Making you happy is so much better though.”
“Maybe I should get us more gillyweed,” Regulus joked
“Maybe I should get better at charming the security cameras,” James laughed, and Regulus chuckled. A soft, intimate sound. Regulus reached up and touched James’ cheek with just his fingertips, wonder shining in his eyes
“Thank you. For tonight. It was magical. You’re magical.” and he leaned in to give him a lingering, longing kiss. “Goodnight Jamie, ” he whispered, slipping off the towel and handing it to James. He slid into the common room, shutting the door quietly behind him.
Reg tiptoed across to his dorm, feeling light enough to float there. The door clicked quietly as he slipped inside. Reg stood still and blinked for a moment, letting his eyes adjust to the dark. He took a deep breath. That all really just happened. He reached for his pajamas and Barty turned on the bedside lamp.
  “Evening.”
Reg turned around, shirtless, drenched, at midnight. they stared at each other for a moment before Regulus shrugged.
“I’m not explaining,” was all he said before heading for the bathroom to get ready for bed.
----------------------------------------------------------------
i might end up sewing all these little bits together into a longer form fic at some point. i'm not sure that over 4000 words still counts as microfic anyway. i'm sure that will require a fair bit of timeline fiddling and editing to make details congruent, etc. i'm still very much learning this craft and welcome feedback.
i'm intending to write a "several years later" post-war wedding proposal scene with Regulus recreating this date for James. being a spoiled rich kid he just rents out he whole aquarium like you can for weddings and kids sleepovers etc. much less daring, but Reg has done better research on security cameras and magic this time so they can have real privacy

A Mermay Prompt

Weightlessness. Peace.
You drifted lazily between the boulders riddled with coral and a few fish darted between the colorful plant life. You hummed out a couple bubbles, imitating the deep breath you couldn’t take while submerged. No oxygen tank this time, just a snorkel, you weren’t going that deep anyways.
The current pushed gently at you, trying to coax you out into deeper waters. You would not be fooled. The ocean was a terrifyingly dangerous place, one wrong stroke and you’d be swept out into the middle of the ocean with nothing but a snorkel. Bad idea. You could go deeper when you had the right equipment and company. For now, you were studying how the coral was adapting to its environment.
Something… big moved.
In all your years in the water, you prided yourself on being the most observant when it came to water pressure and currents. You could locate most of your fellow coworkers when you all would briefly spit up. Something about the awkward way they shifted the water always tipped you off. Fish, being naturally adapted to the water, were far harder to locate. Which made sense. They had to hide, whether predator or prey. It just came natural to them.
However, sometimes, something big enough would move too quickly and you’d notice it. This helped you warn your team of sharks and barracudas in the past.
And there was something big.
Behind you.
You spun around as fast as you could without startling an attack, which was much slower than you would like. Your eyes fell on… nothing. Just a few anemones and a school of fish quickly darting out of sight. Maybe the school set off your senses?
Something white vanished behind a boulder.
White? There weren’t any white aquatic creatures in your area. Your brows knit. It could be trash. Ugh. Why couldn’t people clean up after themselves?
A few gentle kicks sent you over the rock to find the stray bit of trash when a muffled scream and a flurry of bubbles blinded you. You yelped out a few bubbles yourself as you desperately tried to backpedal in water. Whatever it was, and it was huge, darted around you and went for your back. There wasn’t much you could do but try to spin to defend yourself before your arms were wrapped up in a hug from behind.
What in the drunken stars?!
You thrashed in the hold of this creature. What was it? A person? A fish? Some sketchy internet cryptid come to life here to take yours? Or worse… a giant cuttlefish? You shuddered. Hopefully, whatever it was would at least leave you alive. Not that that outcome was looking too likely.
Water pushed your snorkel to the side as you slowly realized you were moving. It was taking you somewhere. Where, you couldn’t tell. Every time you tried to look forward or up, something hard would push your head from behind so you couldn’t see.
You tried to growl out a warning and noticed just how much air you had left. Your eyes widened. You needed air. Fast.
Your useless flippered feet tried to kick behind you but you could barely move them at this speed. Your captor was a far better swimmer than you.
Light glanced off your goggles and into your eyes moments before a loud splash drenched you in air. You gasped and drank in the air before turning you attention back to escaping your captor.
You started thrashing again and screamed.
A skeletal hand clamped down on your mouth.
“Shh! You’re gonna get us both killed!” Whisper-snapped a breathless, masculine voice in your ear. His chest heaved gently as he tried to calm himself and you at the same time. He’d taken you to a cliff side shallow beach that would be completely submerged come tide. Not many people knew this little alcove beside you and you’d hoped to keep it that way.
“Mph!” You retorted. If he wanted you calm he shouldn’t have kidnapped you across the reef! You were… half a mile from your car!
“Ah. I’m sorry. I’m not used to… people….” His grip loosened. “I… Please don’t scream. I don’t want to see you hurt.”
…That wasn’t threatening or ominous at all.
You nodded.
With a heavy sigh, the hand over your mouth slowly let go, obviously ready to silence you without a moment’s hesitation but giving you a chance to speak.
You tried to push away from him but he held you still against his chest, not letting you see him. You growled. “What do you want from me? I don’t have any valuables on me. And I’m not worth much to anyone.”
“Woah. Uh, stars. No, I don’t- stars, are you okay?” Actual concern laced his voice.
You thrashed again but stilled when his arm came forward to cup your mouth. “I am not confiding in my kidnapper! You can go meet a sharks third layer of teeth first!”
“Heh, already have. Listen, I’m not here to hurt you, and I’m sorry for scaring you. If you really want me to leave, I’ll leave.” There was a… serious tone in his voice. Like a soldier awaiting a command.
“Yes! Go! I don’t want to be kidnapped today!” You snapped.
“Yessir.” His arms grabbed yours and pushed you away from his chest. “Little tip, get out of the water as soon as I let go. There are… sharks nearby. Very aggressive sharks. Stay safe.” He released you.
Taking your chance to see your captor, you spun around to see…ripples. He was gone. A nervous glance at the secretive waves had you taking the stranger’s advice and swimming to shore. You rode a wave onto the pebbly beach and heaved yourself into an upright position.
You could have sworn you saw something red flash across the water at you but nothing was there when you looked.
Flippers came off and you ran. Barefoot or not, you were not going back in the water.
Not today.

My Balkan musicians are done yesss..
Aaand I'll talk about the new band... The blue one. They're a Serbian folk band and debuted 10 days after 7/8 Craze.
First we have the gusle player, Mirko. He's blind ( my inspiration was Filip Višnjić ) and he was the first member to join. He often plays in the streets of Splatsville.
Then we have a bubble-tip sea anemone. Her name is Цвијета (Cvijeta) She just wants to have a good time and spread her culture. She plays the frula. Анђелка stalks her...
His name is Kuzman. Him ( kind of ) looking like Chavdar was intentional. He gets confused with Chavdar and vice versa and Kuzman's the opposite of him. This guy is short-tempered, always hurrying and stubborn. Chavdar is not like this.. he tries not to care much but it does get annoying. He plays the tapan ( goč ). ( He is a turbot fish )
His name is Dragan and he is the trumpet player of the band. He's from Драгачево region ( from the town Chachak). He gets ashamed easily and always looks behind himself ( lol ). He doesn't know what "inner monologue" means and says everything out loud. His bandmates can't stand him oftentimes.
Анђелка is from Bosilegrad and she plays the bagpipe. She is a little weird. She stalks Dragan and Cvijeta . Анђелка is a huge gossip girl, but pretends she knows nothing.
----------
This time I tried to make my new bands' designs easy to draw

fishes-for-sale
If you're interested in adding some aquatic life to your home or pond, there are many fish for sale to choose from, ranging from small, colorful aquarium fish to larger pond fish. Fish are relatively low-maintenance pets, but they still require specific care, water conditions, and an appropriate environment to thrive. Whether you're a beginner or an experienced aquarium enthusiast, you can find a wide variety of fish for sale, each with its own needs and characteristics.
Here's an overview of different types of fish available for sale and the basic care tips you should keep in mind when considering adding fish to your home.
1. Tropical Fish
Tropical fish are some of the most popular fish for sale. They come in a variety of colors, sizes, and species, making them perfect for home aquariums. Tropical fish typically require warm water, and most are peaceful, making them ideal for community tanks.
Popular Tropical Fish Species:
Betta Fish: Known for their vibrant colors and flowing fins. Betta fish are hardy but should be kept alone due to their aggressive nature toward other males.
Neon Tetras: Small, colorful fish with a bright blue and red body. These are peaceful and do well in schools, making them a popular choice for aquarium setups.
Guppies: Small, live-bearing fish that come in many colors and are easy to care for. They are great for beginner aquarium enthusiasts.
Angelfish: Known for their elegant appearance and long, flowing fins. They are peaceful but can be territorial, so they should be kept with other non-aggressive fish.
Care Tips:
Water Temperature: Tropical fish require warm water, typically between 72°F and 82°F (22°C to 28°C).
Water Quality: Regularly check water parameters, including pH, ammonia, nitrite, and nitrate levels, to ensure a healthy environment.
Tank Size: Make sure your aquarium is large enough to comfortably house your tropical fish, with proper filtration and aeration systems.
2. Goldfish
Goldfish are one of the most iconic and easily recognized fish species. They're popular for their bright orange or red color and long lifespan. Although they are often associated with small bowls, goldfish actually thrive in larger tanks or ponds.
Popular Goldfish Varieties:
Comet Goldfish: Known for their long, flowing tails and active nature. They require plenty of swimming space.
Fancy Goldfish: These include breeds like the Oranda, Ranchu, and Lionhead, which have unique features such as bubble heads or curled fins.
Koi: Although often kept in ponds, Koi are a type of goldfish known for their large size and beautiful patterns. They can live for decades with the right care.
Care Tips:
Tank Size: Goldfish need a large tank with ample space to grow. A minimum of 20 gallons is recommended for one goldfish.
Water Quality: Goldfish are messy eaters and produce a lot of waste. Frequent water changes and a high-quality filtration system are essential.
Feeding: Goldfish are omnivores, so a varied diet including fish pellets, vegetables, and occasional protein is important for their health.
3. Marine Fish
Marine fish are saltwater fish that can be found in oceans and reefs. They are often more colorful and diverse than freshwater species but require more advanced care due to the complexity of maintaining a saltwater environment.
Popular Marine Fish Species:
Clownfish: Famous for their bright orange color and association with sea anemones. Clownfish are hardy and easy to care for, making them popular in saltwater aquariums.
Tang Fish: Known for their bright colors and elongated bodies. Tang fish are active swimmers and require a larger tank.
Blue Regal Tang (also known as the "Dory" fish): A popular saltwater fish known for its striking blue color. This species requires a large tank and good water quality.
Angelfish: Saltwater angelfish are more vibrant and colorful than their freshwater counterparts, and they make a beautiful addition to reef tanks.
Care Tips:
Salinity: Marine fish require saltwater with specific salinity levels. Use marine salt mix and test the water regularly.
Filtration: Saltwater aquariums need powerful filtration systems to keep the water clean and maintain the delicate balance of minerals and pH.
Tank Size: Many marine fish require large tanks with plenty of swimming space. A minimum of 30 gallons is recommended for most species.
4. Freshwater Fish
Freshwater fish are generally easier to care for than marine fish and can be kept in a variety of tank sizes. Freshwater species come in a wide range of shapes, sizes, and colors, making them ideal for a community aquarium.
Popular Freshwater Fish Species:
Cichlids: This family of fish includes species such as the African cichlids and discus fish. They can be territorial but are also highly intelligent and colorful.
Mollies: Peaceful and easy to care for, mollies are livebearers that come in various colors, including black, gold, and speckled varieties.
Tetras: In addition to neon tetras, there are many other species of tetra, such as the Cardinal tetra and the Black Skirt tetra. They are small, peaceful fish that do well in schools.
Platies: Small and colorful, platies are another livebearing fish that are easy to care for and breed readily in home aquariums.
Care Tips:
Water Quality: Freshwater fish can be sensitive to poor water quality. Ensure you have a good filtration system and maintain stable water parameters.
Tankmates: Many freshwater fish are peaceful and do well in community tanks. However, some species can be aggressive, so it's important to choose tankmates carefully.
Temperature: Most freshwater fish do well in temperatures between 70°F and 80°F (21°C to 27°C).
5. Pond Fish
If you have a pond, you can keep a variety of fish species that thrive in outdoor water features. Pond fish often grow larger than their aquarium counterparts and can live for many years.
Popular Pond Fish Species:
Koi: Koi are a type of goldfish but are much larger and come in a variety of colors and patterns. They are highly prized and can live for decades if cared for properly.
Goldfish: Goldfish can also be kept in ponds, where they often grow larger than they would in aquariums. They are hardy and easy to care for.
Shubunkin: A type of goldfish with a striking mix of colors, Shubunkin are popular in garden ponds for their beauty and resilience.
Care Tips:
Space: Pond fish need a large area to swim freely. Ensure your pond is deep enough to allow for temperature regulation and provide plenty of hiding places.
Water Quality: Regular water testing is crucial to keep the pond environment healthy. A pond filtration system is recommended.
Feeding: Pond fish can be fed a variety of foods, including pellets, vegetables, and live food like worms and insects.
6. Aquatic Plants
While not technically fish, aquatic plants are a great addition to your fish tank or pond. They provide oxygen, absorb excess nutrients, and offer shelter and hiding places for fish.
Popular Aquatic Plants:
Java Fern: A hardy, low-maintenance plant that does well in a variety of water conditions.
Anubias: A popular aquatic plant known for its ability to thrive in low-light conditions.
Water Lilies: Perfect for ponds, water lilies float on the surface and offer shade for pond fish.
Care Tips:
Lighting: Most aquatic plants require moderate to high light levels. Ensure your tank has the appropriate lighting for plant growth.
Water Parameters: Some plants prefer slightly acidic or alkaline water, so check your water pH and adjust if necessary.
Fertilization: Aquatic plants benefit from regular fertilization, especially if they are in a high-demand environment like a busy fish tank.
Conclusion
When shopping for fish for sale, it’s important to choose species that are compatible with one another and suited to the type of tank or pond you have. Whether you are setting up a freshwater aquarium, a tropical tank, or a beautiful outdoor pond, there are numerous fish species that can bring life and color to your space. Be sure to research the care requirements, water conditions, and space needs of each species before making a purchase.
Websites like animalssale.com can help you find a variety of fish for sale, but always make sure to purchase from reputable breeders or sellers to ensure the health and well-being of the fish. Proper care, a balanced environment, and routine maintenance will help ensure that your fish live long, healthy lives in their new home.
