This is old news, but we're still gonna share it.The Davids were present at the Viagra Boys filmed performance at Salt Shed on 2-24-23. That show can now be watched on the band's Youtube channel, and our discussion of the band, their previous album, Cave World, and that night's performance can be heard on The Davids Soundcloud. The episode includes a few samples of the band, Katy Perry's performative tears on American Idol, as well as Brock Baker's vocal talents. Maybe listen in before VB's next album drops?

this probably has been said before but it fucks me up how Eddie spent the entire movie in denial. everything happened so incredibly fast - they were dragged back to their original dimension and barely had time to readjust to the environment and recover from being drunk as shit before they were forced to be on the run - and Eddie has no time to process any of what's happening. it felt to me like he was both struggling to keep up with the events and to hold onto the hope that it was all going to resolve itself. even during their last conversation, Eddie is telling V that they're gonna figure it out and that they're going to see lady liberty when it's all over. not because he believes that, but because he's refusing to accept this fate. it's V who brings him back to reality, who tells him there's no way they're going to make it. and when he finally accepts that this is the end, and that they're both going to die, Venom saves him. he's just made his peace with dying and now he has to make his peace with living. the way he reaches for V, the way he can barely react, i think that was shock. he's barely accepted that they're back on their world, that there's an inevitable threat, that they're both gonna die, and now he has to accept that he's not. but Venom is. he spent so long holding tooth and nail onto the hope that they were gonna fix things, that maybe this is all a bad dream, and it's all gone in a matter of minutes.

and when he wakes up he's still holding onto hope, only to be met with silence.

They’d made it six staircases down before Joaquín had been caged back against a concrete corner, Rumlow close enough that he could feel the heat and smell that same spice scent of the other man – “On your knees, puppy. Think of it as your exit interview.” No wasn’t really an option.

OR: the interview goes well but Torres still needs to be escorted out of the building by Rumlow and the other man isn't done with him yet.

Barnes/Asset - Last Known Location.

That was all there was; a single line that felt more like a ghost than a fucking guide.

Brock had lost track of the asset after his unexpected return from what he'd come to know as the Snap. Surviving had never been part of his plan. Thoughts of revenge had consumed him, desperate to bring down Captain America after the chaos that left that damn building crashing down upon him. ( It had always been a one-way path to oblivion, yet here he stood, alive and breathing against all odds. ) How he had ended up this way baffled him; each day was a challenge to make sense of it all. But the simmering rage he harboured for Rogers remained as potent as ever, a reminder of the agony he’d endured.

To his disbelief, he had learned that Captain America had vanished, leaving behind a void filled only with headlines announcing the rise of a new figure claiming the mantle. ( A mere impostor, an unfortunate lookalike who barely managed to keep the legendary name alive. ) Brock couldn’t help but ponder what Barnes would think of this sad excuse for a replacement. The newcomer seemed ill-equipped for the legacy he was supposed to uphold, so for Brock, he was a fleeting shadow, hardly worth his time. 

Despite what he told himself, he couldn’t erase the memories of Barnes from his mind. ( The haunting blue eyes, filled with pain and confusion, continued to stalk his thoughts, their intensity igniting something deep within him. ) He often dreamt of the soldier, desperately clutching onto the strands of long, unkempt hair, feeling it slip through his fingers, those parted lips, that dead gaze. 

He had tried to carve out any possible moment for the asset, giving Barnes as much attention as the strict regime would allow. ( Over the years, he wasn’t supposed to have favourites, yet somehow, Barnes had become his exception. ) The sight of him—bruised, battered, yet strikingly beautiful— was a testament to the darkness they both navigated. What drew Brock in the most was when Barnes was at his most vulnerable, his spirit crushed, lost in a world that twisted him into something unrecognisable. 

In his sick, distorted way, Brock had convinced himself that he had treated Barnes well. ( He had been one of the nicer handlers in the program, allowing him to beg for mercy in that choked voice, to articulate his needs amidst the torment. ) Perhaps he had a cruel form of affection simmering beneath that façade, perhaps he had genuinely cared, ensnared by the raw humanity he glimpsed within the fractures.

To claim he missed him would be an understatement. He often caught fleeting glimpses of Barnes on the flickering screens of the building he now called home. The city had forgotten Crossbones; no one knew he still existed. ( But as Barnes’s pardon was broadcasted, a perilous thrill coursed through Brock. It was time to begin taking risks, to leave behind small signs of his existence. ) His symbol— a silent echo of what was left of the sadism. Did Barnes remember the sting of the stun batons, the oppressive weight of heavy-duty boots that had once come crashing down around him? Did he wake in the dead of night, haunted by recollections of Brock’s presence?

God, he hoped so.

A sharp exhale left his lips, hand sliding into his trousers. His head tilted back, palming himself. He often got off to the remembers of his soldier fresh from cyro. A rush of exhilaration coursed through him as he recalled the image of the stripped-down soldier—vulnerable, broken, and pleading for mercy. ( This memory was more than a recollection; it was a dark fantasy he relished, one where he still held power over Barnes, watching as fear stripped away his bravado. ) He had sworn to never abandon him, yet the truth was that he had no idea where Barnes was now. Even if he had, his soldier would be shielded, safe from the callous hands of Rumlow.

No, it was far more satisfying to draw him out, to tease the truth from the shadows. Perhaps, in time, the pieces would come together for Barnes, and he would come to understand his own need for him. ( An ache intertwined with the pleasure of knowing that pain was something only Brock could deliver. ) This twisted connection was intoxicating, promising an inevitable reunion that he craved. He just had to be patient. To wait it out.

Barnes would come.

I wonder how many people refuse to watch dubs cause of this shitty translation. Cause even as a child in the year 2001 I squinted my eyes at the screen and thought. "Those donuts sure do look weird. Must be a japanese donut or something." Thereby completely sidestepping the intent the executives had when making this intentionally innacurate dub.

They're also planning for more Roswell cameos in later episodes), but it came out and I didn't even know it? But I have no idea how to watch it, though, as I guess it only came out in theaters in Albuquerque. Here's hoping it comes out on DVD or something...

In the bank vault scene, where Pierce talks to Bucky (or respectively the WS), in the dubbed German version, he uses the formal address.

As some of you may know, in German there’s a difference in addressing people.

Friends use „Du“; strangers use ���Sie“ for the English word „you“.

For example let’s take the sentence „Nice to meet you.“

Friends would say: „Nett, dich kennenzulernen.“

Strangers say: „Nett, Sie kennenzulernen.“

Pierce always uses „Sie“ when he’s talking to Bucky about the mission. So he’s showing some kind of respect (?) towards Bucky.

Thinking of that, it may be coincidence because the one responsible for the German version just thought it would sound nice?

But maybe it’s really some kind of showing tribute towards the WS, letting him think that HYDRA really is „thankful“ for his „service“?

Which in turn would show how cruel HYDRA really was by giving Bucky a false reality over and over again.

Fun Fact: In the German dub of CATWS, instead of saying “Call in the asset” Rumlow says “Lasst ihn von der leine,” which translates to “Let him off the leash” (an expression used almost exclusively for dogs)

Watching Food Wars in English for the first time and they actually change the ingredients. Ep 9, they use crushed fennel seeds as breading for the fried fish, and the Eng dub actually called it Rice Crackers.
