why are we boycotting stranger things season 5?

stranger things season 5 is in the works, but we will stand together and ignore it.

this post is based on some googling on my part, but of course, do your own research as well! this is just meant to be a simple explanation about stranger things' controversy.

ill be talking about noah schnapp, brett gelman, etc.

i dont even know where to start about all of that.

that whole script must have been run through pr a hundred times. i hope noah realizes all the 'israeli' hostages still left in gaza have been killed by,,, you guessed it! 'israels' carpet bombs all across palestine.

i find it hilarious how it was definitely netflix who told noah to clear his shit up online so it wouldnt affect season 5, and yet through all of his bullshit he didnt even apologize once in the video.

ps! if youre a huge fan of stranger things, and you genuinely need to watch season 5 - there are a Torrent of other ways you could Very Probably Nicely figure out to watch s5 without supporting the show, actors, etc.

Not Noah being straight up racist, islamophobic and hateful by liking a video making fun of victims in Gaze who have died and liking Amy Schumer's islamaphobic post. As a middle eastern fan, I defended him time and time again about this issue, and for what?? This is just really sad. 10,000 Palestinians have died, and he's actually making fun of it and being Islamophobic?? Horrible.

Noah's behavior has been disgusting and grossly uneducated and---I'd say it's disappointing, or heartbreaking, if it weren't completely expected for him.

I totally get why some folks are taking an ST break and I respect that decision. Because it's not just Noah sharing disinformation but Brett Gelman as well, and Ross Duffer signing an open letter that, at best, could be called misguided, and at worst, ignorant and dangerous.

I don't condone people harassing or threatening Noah and I hate that people are using his stupidity as an excuse to be antisemitic and hateful. But I can guarantee that whatever hate Noah is experiencing is nothing compared to the horrific reality of what's happening to Palestinians every day in front of our eyes while world powers do nothing to stop it.

I love Will Byers so much. I love Stranger Things in general so much. And I like to think at this point that these characters and this show are not just their actors or their creators anymore, they're ours. But fuck Noah and his privileged, uninformed, hate-filled perspective. I won't be supporting him or the others outside of Stranger Things and I hope they educate themselves and listen to Palestinian voices before even more harm is caused. (I don't have that much faith in them, though. They've shown their colors.)

how are stranger things fans reconciling their fandom identity with the israel gaza conflict? i’m struggling. because it’s like my favorite show and it’s so important to me.

and like. originally i wanted to have some compassion for Noah Schnapp because like. he’s young. and i understand how strong cultural and familial ties could sway someone’s opinion on this. we’re very polarized as a society right now, and so i can see so clearly how people are falling into the mindsets of all anti-israel talk is antisemitic and all anti-hamas talk is anti-muslim when neither of these are true. so i wanted to give him a chance, but idk.

Brett Gelman, on the other hand, i cannot stomach at all. he’s just spreading blatant misinformation and hate, and he’s really pushing this “all palestine supporters are antisemitic” and like. to some extent he’s right. there has been a resurgence of antisemitism in the left because of this. but not to the extent he’s pushing and never enough to justify supporting a literal genocide of innocents who truly have nothing to do with antisemitism in the western left.
