Gf is succeeding in dragging me into TWST and naturally my brain immediately thinks of crossovers bc it has one mode only
Sora from KH in TWST for tldr
Sora as Yuu. He'd be so perfectly horrible for NRC, everyone and their grandma would call him the 'Royal Sword wannabe' or something. He'd shittalk each of the seven founders (except the pomes, bc he never met the Evil Queen, so maybe they hate him a little less), and he's so goddamned reckless. Instead of someone getting thrown at the chandelier to break it, he'd use flowmotion and just being it down himself, and then wonder why the magic crystal breaks from his assault.
But mainly the sheer amount of Situations his heart can drag him into. Its canon that other versions of characters that have interacted with Sora can gain memories of him (Rinzler in DDD), and I know that the characters Aren't the people they're twisted from, but its so fun to imagine most everybody being completely wary of this smiling reckless idiot bc their past life is screaming that this dude Fucking Killed Them.
Riddle gets pissed as hell, because he has no respect for the rules (and he can undo Off With Your Head bc that lock has a giant fucking keyhole lads you do the math) and also he has vague inkling of this fucker being rude to him. Leona has an instinctive disdain for this herbivore, and he reminds him too much of Cheka, and it wigs him out (also Ruggie's entire being screams 'FLEE' around him). He doesn't take Azul's scheming seriously, and shows up underwater WITH A FUCKING MER TAIL (Floyd and Jade get one or two shouts out before they get bonked into submission)
Hornton is wary of this child of man for some reason. But he's so kind! And friendly, and open!
Silver walks in on Sora's dreams and finds sora with a turtle and a nightmarish octopus battling Azul in a black dress whilst Floyd and Jade swim around with their heads copypasted onto Flotsam and Jetsam in a reenactment of the Ursula's Revenge song and swears off acknowledging his existence.
I unno, it could be fun!

DIgimon Adventure 01x17 - The Illusionary Ship's Captain, Cockatrimon! / The Crest of Sincerity
Previously on Digimon Adventure: Letting his arrogance as a striker get the better of him, Taichi made mistakes on the soccer field that nearly cost his team the game. But no one who matters got hurt (RIP other Greymon) so I guess 'boys will be boys' or whatever you say.
With that lesson behind us, we have two Crests in hand now. Onward to the next phase of our Scavenger Hunt of Doom.
I don't typically bring up the recaps that open each episode. Right before the title page, the narrator explains to us what happened in the previous episode, which the dub generally cuts and replaces with one of the kids narrating.
But. Wow. Dub Tai's interpretation of the previous episode is wild today.
Tai: Okay, so I may have made a slight mistake and who hasn't? But that techno-doofus Etemon nailed us big time with that other Greymon. Our Greymon used up so much energy fighting him, he Digivolved back into Koromon!
Oh, he is definitely going to do it again. Tai has zero regrets. My favorite part is that last line, which he delivers with accusatory outrage. Yep, the other Greymon is definitely the only reason Koromon's in this state now. There were no other causes.
We join our kids lost in the desert still, opening on a small scene of the Partners and kids checking in with each other while they march together.
Piyomon: Sora, are you okay? Sora: I'll manage. Tentomon: Koushiro-han, d-don't get discouraged. Koushiro: Y-Yeah. Gabumon: Yamato-- Yamato: You should worry about yourself. You must be sweltering under all that fur. Gabumon: I'll be okay. Gomamon: Jou, want to take a break? Jou: No, let's work hard and keep going. Tokomon: (singing weakly from atop Takeru's head) ~Takeru fight-o! Takeru: (weakly) ~Fight-o....
Everyone's exhausted in this miserable death march, but they're trying to keep spirits up and keep going. My favorite part is Big Brother Yamato throwing down the Uno Reverse before Gabumon can even get a word out. He just knew.
The dub tries to lighten things up by making the Digimon kind of insufferable right now? I have never wanted to punt a Digimon so hard, oh my god.
Matt: Man, this desert is so hot even a lizard would need sunscreen! Biyomon: Sora, can you carry me? Sora: Not even. Tentomon: The crew cut would look nice on you and it's cooler! Izzy: (sigh) Gabumon: Do I look fat? Matt: No, you look hot. Especially with the fur coat. That thing really needs a zipper. Gabumon: Or maybe just removable shirt sleeves. Gomamon: Hey, how about resting our feet? Joe: There's no place to sit except on a cactus. Tokomon: (atop T.K.'s head) Great view up here! T.K.: Next time I ride.
The thing the dub Digimon need to understand right now is that we are in a desert. No one will find their bodies.
Taichi, walking next to Mimi, is dwelling on his mistakes while carrying Koromon with him.
Taichi: Koromon. I'm sorry. It's my fault you turned back into Koromon. Mimi: Taichi-san, no matter how remorseful you feel, there's nothing you can do about it now. Taichi: Mimi-chan? Mimi: You've got to keep your spirits up for Koromon's sake too. Taichi: (small smile and nod) Mm.
We begin with Mimi offering consolation and guidance to Taichi. This is a good moment for her. However you want to describe it - purity, sincerity, honesty, innocence - Mimi wears her heart on her sleeve, expresses herself and connects with others openly, and lives a life unfettered by regrets and self-doubt. Which is what Taichi needs right now.
Her guidance pulls him out of the spiral of "What did I do?" and gets him back on the path of "What do I do next?"
In the dub, Tai shows way more regret than he did in that opening blurb, but Mimi's insightful advice is... altered....
Tai: You look terrible, Koromon! If only I hadn't acted like such a bonehead, you never would have Digivolved. Mimi: Don't be so hard on yourself. Although, come to think of it, you really have made a super icky mess of things. Ahaha! Tai: ...thanks, Mimi. Mimi: Oh, don't mention it, Tai! I'm glad to help with the pep talk now and then! Tai: (small smile and nod; awkward) Mmhmm....
Do we really have to do this to her in Mimi's own episode? Okay.
While they're talking, Palmon fantasizes about a way to solve the heat problem for everyone.
Mimi: Still, it's really hot. Taichi: I'm worried about how long Koromon can take this.... Palmon: I want to become a giant Togemon and give everyone shade!
She launches into a brief imagination sequence, thinking about everyone taking shelter from the sun under her.
In the dub:
Mimi: I haven't sweated this much since cheerleader tryouts! Tai: Koromon doesn't look so good. I'm worried. Palmon: You know what we need right now is a whole bunch of shade! A big umbrella or a really big tree! Or maybe I could grow into a giant cactus and smile down onto all of you as I provide cool, refreshing comfort. Matt: It's official. The sun has just turned Palmon's brain into a french fry. Earth to Palmon! Come in!
Palmon's line gets extended significantly and Matt's given asshole banter. This is for the sake of carrying us through Palmon's imagination sequence, which lasts about 13 seconds without any dialogue or significant action taking place. You know how the dub feels about that.
Before Palmon can go any farther with this fantasy, Mimi snaps her out of it.
The group's just noticed a colossal cactus nearby.
Palmon: A giant cactus! Taichi: Awesome, everyone! Let's go relax in the shade!
Excited, they sprint around the cactus to take shelter in its shade! Palmon exclaims:
Palmon: I want to become a cactus as big as that one!
It's good to have life goals, Palmon.
In the dub, Palmon mistakenly takes credit for the colossal cactus.
Palmon: Wowee, I did that?
We cut to commercial and when we return, Tai agrees with her interpretation.
Palmon: Gee, I'm pretty amazing. Tai: Yeah, you better believe it, Palmon! Come on, everybody; Let's head for some shade!
I like how we're all in agreement that Palmon can summon external cacti. That's one of her powers now, Tai's decided. XD No reason to scrutinize this any further.
Tragically, as they reach the far side of the cactus, they find that it doesn't have any shade. It casts no shadow at all. In fact, it flickers out of existence shortly after, as if it had never been there.
Mirage? Not quite.
The cactus was a hologram concealing one of Gennai's projectors. He appears to greet the kids, but Taichi isn't in a chatty mood. His Crest is defective and he wants to speak to a manager.
Gennai: Chosen Children! Group: Gennai! Taichi: Hey, geezer! I got the Tag and Crest like you said, put them together, and fought a bad guy, but he didn't evolve at all! Worse, poor Agumon regressed into Koromon! Mimi: I don't want a Crest! Gennai: Calm yourselves, Chosen Children. You're going to have Crests whether you like it or not. The Tag and Crest naturally light each other up. Group: (widespread noises of disapproval) Mimi: That can't be.... Gennai: Let me explain why Agumon regressed into Koromon. Even with both the Tag and Crest, unless you raise your Digimon correctly-- Taichi: Raise them correctly? Gennai: Yes. Unless you give them a good upbringing, they won't evolve the right way. Taichi: How do we raise them correctly, then? Gennai: Chosen Children, to give appropriate care-- (Connection disrupts and then disconnects) Taichi: That geezer! Everything he says is confusing!
Ever unreliable, the connection cuts out just as Gennai was about to upload the walkthrough for min/maxing your V-Pet's affection ratings. Guess we'll have to wing it.
(Game plan, everyone. When you're unsure, just ask, "What would Taichi do?" and then do the opposite. Especially you, Taichi!)
In contrast to the scenes leading up to this conversation, everyone's made nicer in the dub.
Gennai: Well, well. It's about time you got here. I was just about ready to give up on you. Matt: It's Gennai! Tai: Gennai, we found the Tags and a couple of Crests like you wanted, but when we got into trouble, our Digimon couldn't Digivolve. They ended up worse off than when they started! Take a look at poor Agumon; He is just not himself! And I'm supposed to be helping him! Mimi: I think those thingies are more trouble than they're worth! Gennai: Calm down, kids. Let me explain. The Tags and Crests are extremely important. Please make sure no one else gets a hold of them. In the end, you shall see that they will work together to help you create total harmony. Group: (all gasp in surprise together) Mimi: In English? Gennai: Just trust me. After all, I'm the floating glowing guy. As for Koromon, he wouldn't be so helpless if you had known how to care for him in the proper way. Tai: But I did the best I could! Gennai: Patience is what you need to learn, my friends. And you will learn it in time. Tai: But I want to have Agumon back now! Gennai: I'm starting to lose my connection. That's something you're going to have to figure out for yourself. Good luck. (Connection disrupts.) Tai: Wait a minute! Gennai: Sorry, I'm on a tight schedule! (Connection disconnects) Tai: It never fails! Every time I need to know about something, he hangs me out to dry!
This is your second conversation with him, Tai. XD
Here, Tai doesn't sling ageist barbs at Gennai out of frustration and Gennai doesn't come in with that "You're doing this whether you want to or not" bit. Also, he's the floating glowing guy.
Dub Gennai suggests that we need to keep the Tags and Crests away from the villains, which is contextually awkward. The only thing the villains would want with them is to keep them away from us. They don't do anything except evolve a Chosen Child's Partner Digimon.
This is probably here to create tension for events later in the episode, when the villain collects Taichi and Jou's Crest-filled Tags and carries them around like trophies, but it makes little sense in context.
The most glaring change is the back half of the conversation. He briefly brings up that proper care for one's Digimon will influence how they evolve, but then gives them a vague platitude about patience and peaces out.
This is a much worse scene. It lacks the high-strung emotional intensity of the original, where the kids seem practically traumatized by the SkullGreymon incident and want to abandon course. They also use a lot more words to say less.
Dub Gennai might as well have been written by AI; He doesn't sound like he's conversing with the kids or engaging with the context of their concerns. Instead, he offers vague Good Guy Mentor sentiments that might as well have been written in a vacuum.
With Gennai gone, the DIgimon and kids begin to mull over what he told them at the end there.
Piyomon: He mentioned good upbringing? Gabumon: Are we being brought up the right way, though? Yamato: Gabumon, wait a moment! Koushiro: I'm not sure I can.... Tentomon: No no no, Koushiro-han. What are you saying!? Gomamon: What about me? Jou: I have absolutely no confidence I can do it. Zero percent confidence. Gomamon: Hey!
With the introduction of this "BTW You basically need to parent your Digimon" element, spirits around the group are at an all-time low. It was all fun and games until suddenly consequences were patched in.
(I jest. It was never fun and games. These children are being hunted for sport.)
In the dub:
Biyomon: Are we being cared for properly? Gabumon: If we were, Agumon wouldn't have Digivolved backwards. Matt: Come on! Don't freak me out! Izzy: I'm... better with computers! Tentomon: That's ridiculous. As far as I'm concerned, you're the best! Gomamon: You look bummed. Joe: How am I supposed to take care of you? Is there a handbook somewhere? I feel very inadequate. Gomamon: Me too.
The dub goes strong in this one. They flip Gabumon's question over to Biyomon so Gabumon can scorch the kids for what happened to Agumon.
Izzy and Joe's lines are well-characterized and specific to their personalities. Izzy cops to his discomfort in social situations, which has been a point of contention with him before, while Joe neurotically asks for a text he can study.
Also, Gomamon replying to "I feel very inadequate" with "Me too" is just. I don't know why I loved that so much, I just did. You're the salt of the earth, Gomamon.
Before this discussion can continue, however, something comes cutting through the sands straight for them.
Because this is still Digimon/Digital World, where appropriate context for real-world things is a sucker's gambit.
Taichi: A battleship! Sora: No, that's a luxury cruise ship! Jou: Why is a cruise ship sailing through the desert!? Mimi: Waugh! Takeru: Is it a mirage too? Yamato: No, it's not!
The kids quickly scatter out of the way of the passing ship.
The dub is mostly the same, except for Jou's line.
Tai: Is that a battleship!? Sora: Could be... But it looks more like a fancy cruise ship. Joe: The passengers are gonna want their money back when they see this place! Mimi: Yeah.... T.K.: It could be just a mirage! Matt: Yeah? Looks pretty real to me!
Very considerate of Joe to be worried about strangers' recreational finances at a time like this! Jou's question gets made into a quip, while Mimi's distressed throat noises become verbal support for Joe's goofiness.
Dub Sora is also slightly more willing to entertain the possibility that this is a battleship than her Japanese counterpart, but in that diplomatic tone you use when you don't want to hurt someone's feelings even though that thing they just said is very stupid.
As the kids scramble out of the ship's path, it slows to a stop. After a moment, a sailor peeks out to see what's going on, revealing the ship's occupants to the kids.
Numemon: Nume...? Group: (collective groans of disappointment) Awww! Mimi: Numemon!
I was trying to think of a funny thing I could say like "Well fuck me" following that image but honestly nothing tops the entire group of Chosen Children wordlessly booing as soon as he appeared.
Sadly, the anguished cries don't make it into the dub, which is going for more of a confused reaction.
Numemon: Ahoy ha hahaha! Group: (gasping in surprise) HUH!?!?!? Mimi: Numemon!
Nonetheless, Taichi looks down at Koromon quivering in the scorched sun and makes a judgment call.
Taichi: Numemon! Please let us rest on your ship! Numemon: (squints suspiciously and pulls away) Nume.... Mimi: (steps forward) Let me handle the Numemon. NUMEMON!!! We're all tired! Could you let us rest on your luxury ship? O-ne-ga-i (Please)?
Putting to work the acquired knowledge that she's apparently very harassable, Mimi offers a different flirty pose with each syllable of onegai.
It works like a charm. The Numemon sailor lowers the boarding ramp, allowing the kids to climb up.
In the dub:
Tai: Hey fella! Could all of us come aboard and freshen up? Numemon: (squints suspiciously and pulls away) Eugh-ew.... Mimi: If you don't mind, this needs a woman's touch. Well, hey there, big boy! Your ship looks so, so inviting! How about letting us onboard so that we can check it out? Oh-please-mm-hmm?
She calls him "big boy" and tells him his ship "looks inviting", rather than asking to rest because they're tired.
Maybe it's just me but I feel weird about shifting "Let me handle the Numemon" to "This needs a woman's touch". The former sets up what follows as a direct follow-up on Mimi's experiences with Numemon while the latter makes it strictly about her gender. Women be flirtin' I guess.
As they board the ship, Mimi exclaims:
Mimi: It looks like a first-class hotel!
Which the dub makes into:
Mimi: Ugh! What!? No linen tablecloths? Well, I guess we can rough it!
XD That one got me. I don't remember what her living situation is like when we finally get to see the kids go home next arc, but the dub's set her up as this ultra-wealthy heiress so it'll be interesting to see how that goes.
Once the kids are onboard, they break off and go enjoy themselves. The girls hit the showers in one of the cabins to take advantage of a rare opportunity to get clean. Meanwhile Koushiro joins Yamato and Takeru in inspecting the dining hall.
Yamato: This food looks incredible. Gabumon: It does.... Takeru: I want to eat it.... Koushiro: We should ask someone before we start eating. Yamato: But it looks so good! Tentomon: (stomach gurgle) I'm so hungry, I think I might die. Gabumon: (stomach gurgle) Well.... Tokomon: (stomach gurgle) Me too.... Koushiro: (huge stomach gurgle, looks embarrassed) It would be rude to the cooks if we let the food they made get cold, right? Group: Right! Koushiro: Itadakimasu! (Customary Japanese expression used to kick off the start of a meal.)
Koushiro's initially reluctant to go along with eating what may or may not be someone else's meal, but hunger makes him relent. The kids ravenously devour the food in front of them.
(Just remember the Egg Fridge. We're still starving kids in a crisis situation! It's still okay!)
In the dub:
Matt: Check out the incredible spread! Izzy: It appears to be highly edible. Tentomon: Might i propose we eat a bit and take the leftovers with us. Matt: Let's eat it all now! T.K.: Ohh, I can't believe it! Izzy: Remember when the food was just an illusion? Matt: Another alien plot!? Tentomon: (sniff sniff) It doesn't smell like an alien plot. Gabumon: (burp) Excuse me. Tokomon: Huh? Ahhh.... Izzy: Uhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh After extensive deliberation, I've come to the conclusion that it would be rude to allow this cuisine to become cold! Group: Yeah! Izzy: LET'S GO FOR IT, GUYS!!!
XD Matt and Tentomon riffing on Izzy's dub-exclusive "BET IT'S ALIENS" thing in the early episodes. Never live it down, Izzy.
But also, they cut the starving stomach grumbles but had nothing to replace that gag with. Gabumon, Tokomon, and even Izzy briefly have to settle for just making sounds where their stomach gurgles are supposed to go. For about four seconds, Izzy opens his mouth and farts out verbal CPU Processing noises.
Taichi and Jou use this time to relax at the pool, where Jou proves he's a braver man than I am by taking his glasses out onto the water with him.
Taichi: What do you think Gennai meant when he told us to raise our Digimon correctly? Jou: Dunno. At least we're trying to take care of them properly.
The dub dialogue is basically the same, but the kids are more defensive.
Tai: I'm confused, Joe; What do you think Gennai meant when he said we weren't taking proper care of our Digimon? Joe: Ugh, I don't know. We've done everything but give them an allowance!
They'd blow it on candy and soda pop anyway. And the soda machines are Numemon dispensers so let's not open that can of worms!
Unbeknownst to the boys, there's a man up top watching them through binoculars like the biggest creep on the ship.
Captain: Chosen Children... your fates--
Before there can be any mistake about whether this is a real human man, his body suddenly tears open like a paper bag to reveal his true form.
Cockatrimon: --are in the hands of Cockatrimon!
I have absolutely no idea why he was in a human disguise. It never comes up again. I honestly wonder if there was supposed to be a scene where he, as the Captain, introduces himself to the kids and welcomes them to the ship. Something that ended up cut for time.
That's the only thing that makes sense to me. This is clearly meant to be a big reveal, but we've never seen this guy before.
From here, the narrator gives the rundown. Cockatrimon is an Adult-stage Data-type Giant Bird Digimon. His name, of course, derives from "cockatrice", a draconic chicken monster from English mythology born from eggs laid by roosters. Its gaze is believed to cause instant death, which pop culture often portrays through petrification.
Narrator: Cockatrimon. A ferocious bird Digimon. His feathers have degraded, annoying him with his inability to fly. His special attack is Petrifier.
He also speaks in a regional Nagoya accent. The subs I'm watching translate the regional "gaya" and "nyaa" words he adds to his dialogue as "BAWK" and "BACAWK". I am not going to do that because, unless I know for sure that was the actual intent of using this dialect, it feels disrespectful to turn a real-world accent into animal noises. Just know that he has the equivalent of a Californian dialect.
He does sometimes utter "koka koka koka!" in bird squawk, however. So that's fair game.
Over in the dub, Digimon names are rewritten in English during the rundown. There, his name is presented as Kokatorimon. This is a literal translation of the katakana used to spell his name: "Ko-ka-to-ri-mo-n", taken at face value with zero effort to parse it. That's okay, 90's kids probably think cockatrice is a cool enemy creature that Final Fantasy made up. It's pretty obscure as mythical beasts go.
(Jou-senpai, be sure to buy lots of Softs from the cruise ship's Item Shop while you're here! Casting Esuna sometimes doesn't cut it!)
However, when his name is said out loud, the actors pronounce it "Cockatrimon" anyway. Voice crew seems to have put more work into understanding this than the editing crew, resulting in an awkward disconnect.
The dub uses his second line, as he reveals himself, to segue straight into his diegetic rundown.
Captain: Aha! I see a couple have taken the bait. Time for me to get started! They'll never forget this cruise. Kokatorimon: (explodes out of the Captain's body) RARGH, I'm Cockatrimon! My cock-a-doodle-doo will blow out your eardrums! Mess with me and you'll be pecked into surrender!
I mean you can also turn people to stone but deafening doodling is cool too. XD
Once he's finished explaining himself to the audience, Cockatrimon moves to his command center to report in to Etemon.
Cockatrimon: Just in case, I should report this to Etemon-sama and ask what I should do with them.
While the original's seeking guidance, Kokatorimon wants to report in Mission Accomplished.
Kokatorimon: Etemon will reward me greatly when he learns I've trapped the DigiDestined on my ship!
However, after the SkullGreymon incident, Etemon's having some technical difficulties.
Not that. That's just Etemon entertaining himself. The Dark Network is still in total disarray after SkullGreymon tore up the Coliseum. Three Gazimon technicians are desperately trying to get it back up and running, but it's slow going.
Etemon: Morons! Hurry up and fix my network! Who do you think I am!? I'm King of Digimon, Etemon-sama!!! Got a problem with that? Gazimon: None at all! (spotlights activate; Etemon begins performance) Etemon: YEAH!!! / Who is the strongest in the world? / That's me WAHOO!!!
The Gazimon join him as backup dancers, but he breaks off his song to clobber all three of them.
Etemon: Who told you to dance!? Don't just sit there holding your heads!
The Gazimon go straight back to work while Etemon resumes his song, and we cut away from there.
The dub shockingly lets 20 seconds go by without dialogue as we follow the black cable to Etemon's trailer. This scene lets Etemon have a musical number. You know they milked that for all it's worth.
Etemon: Step it up, fools! I'm gettin' very impatient here, y'know what I mean? If my network's offline then everybody crashes! Lemme tell ya why. BECAUSE I'M ETHEMON(sic)!!! You wanna make somethin' of it!? Gazimon: No way! (spotlights activate; Ethemon begins performance) Etemon: YEAH yeah! / I'm the coolest cat there is and if you don't watch out / I'm gonna getcha 'til you scream and shout! / 'Cause I'm the hippest Digimon in town! / Oh yeeeeeah-- (Etemon bashes the Gazimon) Etemon: So who gave you permission to dance!? Now y'all get back to work before I get myself upset again!
I think by this point it's clear they only did one take of any given line read when dubbing the show. We've seen a few of these obvious flubs at this point. Mistakes happen to the best of us but you can re-record stuff, y'know.
But, glaring line flub excepted, the dub of this scene is so good. Elvismon knocks it out of the park with his musical number.
Since the Dark Network is down, Cockatrimon's transmission fails to go through. He has to make a judgment call for himself.
Cockatrimon: Hmm, weird. I can't reach Etemon-sama. (Cockatrimon walks to the voicepipe, letting out a "Koka!" with every step.) Cockatrimon: No other choice. I'll just get rid of them.
He opens the pipe with his beak and calls down to the Numemon below decks, who've been refreshingly absent despite Mimi flirting our way onto the ship.
Cockatrimon: To all Numemon part-timers: I'll give a substantial pay raise to anyone who captures the Chosen Children!
...the Numemon are working here part-time? I desperately want more details on that. What does that mean, Cockatrimon? XD I wanna be a part-time cruise ship sailor. Maybe not in the desert though. Cockatrimon is running a weird ship.
In the dub:
Kokatorimon: Something's wrong! Etemon's network appears to be down. Ahh, who needs him! I'll have the pleasure of plastering their feathers all by myself! (Kokatorimon walks to the voicepipe, letting out a "Koka!" with every step.) Kokatorimon: It's amazing how my brains surpass my good looks! (Kokatorimon opens the voicepipe and calls down) Kokatorimon: Now hear this! I have an important message for ya! Listen up, this is the deal: I'll give you Numemon an extra serving of dried bread and even throw in some jelly if you capture those kids!
So I guess they're slaves in the dub.
The Numemon go to work and earn that pay raise. They capture Taichi and Jou immediately. They also try and throw a net around Gomamon, but he conjures Marching Fishes from the swimming pool to tear the net open. Don't mess with Gomamon in a body of water.
More Numemon go to the side table, where Koromon is hanging out with Taichi and Jou's Crests. Fortunately, all this relaxation provided just the recovery time he needed to get back in the game and defend those Tags. Koromon SHINKAAAAAA!!!
Leaping from the table, Agumon lets off a Baby Flame and... watches helplessly as Cockatrimon, appearing out of nowhere, effortlessly slaps away his attempt. It's okay, man. You tried.
Cockatrimon replies with a blast of Petrifier from his eyes.
I don't think we're going to be able to shinkaaaaaa our way out of that.
Of note, when using Petrifier, Cockatrimon calls the attack as "Petri... FIIIIIIIIRE!!!" which goes hard. Not only does the dub not change the name of the attack for once, but they do their best to copy the Japanese delivery too. It's just that good.
With Gomamon and Agumon turned to stone, there's nothing to stop Cockatrimon from taking Taichi and Jou's Tags and Crests. He holds them up in front of the pool and laughs at the kids in loud, obnoxious chicken squawks.
In the dub, Kokatorimon throws in some extra jeers rather than just laughing.
Kokatorimon: You're sunk without these! But I wouldn't be too upset; Now you've got yourself a couple of nice Digimon garden ornaments!
He made them into lawn gnomes. Is there any fate more terrible?
While the Numemon hold the line against the kids Digimon, Cockatrimon makes his way through the ship to sink them. He hits the dining hall next, petrifying Tentomon, Tokomon, and Gabumon the way he did Agumon and Gomamon.
Five down. Two to go.
Cockatrimon follows the Numemon to the cabin that the girls were in. They've turned the cabin upside-down, but the girls aren't there. The sound of the running shower gives away their presence, however, and he breaks down the bathroom door.
They aren't there either. They left the water running as a distraction and slipped out the window, wrapped in towels.
As an aside, as he fits his head through the window, Cockatrimon lets out the most pathetic and confused, "...koka?" It's hilarious and adorable.
For some reason, the dub has Mimi call out from the bathroom:
Mimi: I'd give anything for a good moisturizing shampoo!
Which seems to be what calls Kokatorimon's attention to the bathroom, rather than the sound of the shower running. This is a little janky; Placing them in the room right at that moment gives them about four seconds to realize they're in danger, grab towels, and then fit four people (Palmon and Biyomon are with them) through that tiny window. They must have hustled!
Also, once he notices the window, Kokatorimon declares:
Kokatorimon: You little chikadees think you're so smart! (Kokatorimon sticks his head through the window) Kokatorimon: ARGH!!! They won't get away that easily!
It's not as funny as the tiny, pitiful koka.
It doesn't take him long to cut them off in the hall, however.
Cockatrimon: There you are! Palmon & Piyomon: COCKATRIMON!!! Sora: Is he with Etemon!? Piyomon: Looks like! Cockatrimon: (cackles maliciously, holding up the Tags and Crests) Mimi: Those are Taichi-san and Jou-senpai's Crests!
In the dub, Sora and Mimi add in some scathing insults while they're at it.
Kokatorimon: (unintelligible squawk roar) Palmon & Biyomon: IT'S COCKATRIMON!!! Sora: It's not the Easter Chicken? Biyomon: He's bad news! Kokatorimon: (cackles maliciously, holding up the Tags and Crests) Mimi: That omelet-head has Tai and Joe's Tags!
Small nitpick: Biyomon's never been to this continent and although she knows what a Cockatrimon is, she probably shouldn't speak from authority as to the moral character of this one.
Opting to engage the girls in conversation, the Easter Chicken reveals what he's done to the boys.
Cockatrimon: I've captured the other five Chosen Children and put them out to dry in the sun. Pretty soon, I'll have dried and crunchy Chosen Children to eat! Mimi: That's horrible! Piyomon: And their Digimon? Cockatrimon: I've turned them to stone with my power. I'll use them to boil some nice soup. Palmon: Unbelievable! Cockatrimon: Don't worry. You're about to join them. Piyomon: UNFORGIVABLE!!!
Hahaha wow that took a turn for the horrifying, didn't it? Cockatrimon intends to cook and eat the kids.
Shockingly, Cockatrimon's intentions for these children makes it into the dub unaltered.
Kokatorimon: I ran into several of your friends over by the pool. But don't get your heads in a spin; They're just drying off! Nothing like little sun-baked faces... fried to a crisp with curly corn spuds and lots of coleslaw! Group: Eugh! Biyomon: Where are the Digimon!? Kokatorimon: Don't worry about those guys! Confidentially, I find them to be a little bit on the stiff side, but that just happens to be my personal opinion! Palmon: Your opinion stinks! Kokatorimon: Now you're going to meet the same fate! AHAHAHAHA!!! Piyomon: YOU'VE CACKLED ONCE TOO OFTEN!!!
Holy shit, are Kokatorimon's quips good or what? Really adds to the menace of the guy in this, his moment of strength. Sometimes the dub quipping takes away from the emotion of a scene but here it magnifies it. These are solid villain quips.
We lose Cockatrimon confessing that he's going to make soup from the Digimon statues, but that's okay; We still got him admitting that he's going to eat the baked children so the horror is there nonetheless.
Piyomon and Palmon cut loose with Magical Fire and Poison Ivy, but Cockatrimon fends them off easily. He fires back with Petrifier; However, they're able to scramble away from his shot before it lands.
As we briefly escape the horrifying fate awaiting us in the stomach of this awful beast, he's forced to remind us how silly he is by waddling after the girls uttering "Koka koka koka!" with each step. However, there's only so far to run.
During the kids' flight from the cabin hall, the dub adds some extra dialogue.
Kokatorimon: COME BACK, YOU CHICKENS!!! Sora: Who's he calling a chicken!?
I'd call this one borderline when it comes to tension-killing humor. If Cockatrimon were a more serious villain then this might be a problem, but he's built on a juxtaposition between horrifying menace and ridiculous silliness. So this joke fits the tone well.
Backing them into a corner at the very edge of the ship, Cockatrimon advances on his prey. He doesn't realize that all of this open space evens the playing field.
As Birdramon takes flight, Cockatrimon is momentarily stunned.
Cockatrimon: SH-SHE'S FLYING!!!
He's too fixated on Birdramon in the air to even realize he's in danger at first. It's only as she lets off her Meteor Wing that it suddenly hits him, and he frantically hops away from her shots at the last second.
This is the payoff to what the narrator said in the rundown: That being flightless is a background aggravation for Cockatrimon. Sora picks up on it too.
Sora: It looks like Cockatrimon can't fly. Mimi: Palmon, it's your chance!
Incidentally, a background detail that makes Cockatrimon's jealousy of Birdramon so effective is that he's a separate evolution branch of Piyomon. He could have become a Birdramon, but instead he's stuck flightless. This is never brought up in the anime but I'm sure it made a few people with the V-Pet laugh.
Unfortunately, since the dub scrubbed this particular quirk of Cockatrimon's, we don't get to see it paid off here.
Kokatorimon: Hey, that's not fair!
He's probably still talking about Birdramon flying in the air but it's not well-explained why this stuns him into inaction. Then, after she opens fire and he barely manages to dodge, we get:
Sora: What's the matter, you big cluck!? Can't you fly? Mimi: Palmon, it's your turn!
I would love this taunt from Sora if we'd taken the time to set up Kokatorimon's sore spot. It still works; Sora is bragging about how cool Birdramon is. But it'd go hard if she was intentionally rubbing salt into his emotional wound.
Mimi seizes this opportunity to bring out Togemon as well, doubling up on Cockatrimon.
Once this turns 2v1 and he's not beating up Digi-Children, Cockatrimon's got nothing. Birdramon lays down another Meteor Wing from the air, distracting Cockatrimon and forcing him to drop Taichi and Jou's Crests. Then Togemon lets off a modified Chiku-Chiku Bang Bang.
Her needles, spraying into him and disorienting him with intense pain, are the Chiku-Chiku. He doesn't even notice her closing distance until she's in his face. Her punches are the Bang Bang, closing with an uppercut that sends him sailing up into the ship's smokestack.
An explosion from the smokestack finishes him off, and the petrified Digimon abruptly revert back to normal.
As he dies, Mimi exclaims:
Mimi: Hooray!
Which the dub turns into:
Mimi: FRIED CHICKEN!!!
XD You know what? Turnabout is fair play. He brought this on himself.
The kids regroup, but then notice the part-timers throwing down the boarding ramp and fleeing for their lives, shedding their sailor outfits in the process.
Taichi: The Numemon are fleeing in a panic. Koushiro: That must mean it's dangerous to stay on this ship. Sora: Let's hurry up and get out of here. Taichi: Yeah!
The dub kids seem a little slower on the uptake. Except Tai.
Tai: I say we do the same as they are and abandon ship! Izzy: I guess it's a little late for a mutiny. Sora: Don't worry, the Captain's already been fricasseed.
Guys, our lives are in danger. Please stop quipping and leave the ship now.
As the kids vacate, something crawls from the smokestack.
Cockatrimon: Damn it... Those Chosen Children and their Digimon... Cockatrimon has used his willpower to revive himself and is now going to get his revenge on you! KOKA-KA-KA-KA-KA-KA--
Given that his death un-petrified all of the Digimon, this might not be hyperbole. There's a real possibility that Cockatrimon resurrected himself in the fires of the ship's furnace like a phoenix. But it's ambiguous.
Ironically, Hououmon or Phoenixmon is on Birdramon's evolution path but not Cockatrimon's. Still, this feels like a phoenix allusion.
Either way, he's trying to do an Epic Boss Fight Phase 2 speech while clambering over a barrier in unrelenting agony and it's hilarious.
As he speaks, he climbs slowly over the lip of the smokestack. He slips over the side mid-cackle, falling painfully back onto the ship's deck.
In the dub:
Kokatorimon: Ugggh, my head... You may have ruffled my tail feathers but I can still- AWK AWK AWK!!! Awk... uggghh... Okay, so maybe I've lost a little bit of my noodle, but I'm not finished yet! AWK AWK AWK--Oh!
You should go back in and find that noodle, just a suggestion.
The kids return to the desert, once more marching through scorching hell. Mimi utters:
Mimi: I'm roasting....
Which the dub makes into:
Joe: Well, the weather certainly hasn't gotten any cooler.... Mimi: Do you guys hear something?
Nice quippy complaint from Joe. Well-timed and tonally appropriate.
Suddenly, they hear a sound headed their way.
The kids flee for their lives through the desert, while Cockatrimon gives chase. Though the kids are able to sprint fast enough to stay ahead, the ship steadily gains ground.
(Hey, look at that! Taichi's vindicated; It's a battleship now! Also, shame on every one of these children for neither splitting up nor going perpendicular to its approach; cruiser ships are not famous for turning on a dime.)
They come upon a massive cactus like the one before, but with one key difference.
Palmon: A giant cactus!? Mimi: Is it another mirage!? Taichi: No! It has a shadow!
This is another detail that gets confused in the dub, as they don't bring up the proof of the cactus's realness.
Mimi: (wailing) OHHHHHH-- LOOK!!! Palmon: The giant cactus is back! Mimi: Oh no, not another mirage! Tai: What were you expecting, an outlet mall!? Matt: Hurry! Get over on the other side!
Tai seems to agree with Mimi that the cactus is a mirage before Matt yells at everyone to take cover anyway? Weird choice, kids. Though a couple scenes later, we find out Mimi still didn't realize it was real, so it works.
Ship meets cactus. Cactus wins hard, destroying everything above deck on impact and flinging the rest into the sky with with a comical springy sound.
As the ship ascends, Cockatrimon finally achieves the greatest ambition of his life.
Cockatrimon: I'm at high altitude! I'm flying! I'M FLYING!!!
His vocal delivery makes clear that this is a moment of panic for him. "I'm flying!" is delivered as wishful thinking.
Over in the dub, he similarly freaks out.
Kokatorimon: WAUGH!!! I can fly, I can fly-- Oh, I can't fly! WHOA-OH-OH-OH-OH!!!
Then the black cable attached to the ship. The cable breaking causes a chain explosion, destroying the ship utterly. The explosion consumes Cockatrimon as well, blasting him to dust.
Down on the ground, the kids marvel at the giant cactus that saved their lives.
Mimi: It wasn't a mirage! Palmon: It's a real giant cactus!
Someone wasn't paying attention when Taichi pointed out the shadow.
Dub Mimi's weirdly invested in its size more than anything else.
Mimi: Wow! It's even bigger than a skyscraper! Palmon: You're right! What's a skyscraper, Mimi?
Sadly, the necessary timing to match lip flaps ruins Palmon's joke, as she needed to pause for a beat between her sentences. Good effort, though. B+
As if in response to their presence, a flower blooms on the very top of the cactus. It opens to reveal a colossal stone plate.
As with the others, the stone resonates with Mimi's Tag, forming into a Crest and sliding into its proper slot. Words cannot do justice to the overwhelming terror and dread on Mimi's face as her Crest manifests.
Sora: This is what Gennai meant when he said the Tag and Crest naturally light each other up. Mimi: (distraught) I didn't want this... Will I be able to raise Palmon properly? Palmon: Ah... Mi... Mimi....
Her question goes unanswered, and we end the episode with that uncertain and terrifying burden hanging in the air over everyone's shoulders.
The dub did not like this ending. They take an axe to the whole scene.
Sora: He was right! It's just like Gennai said! The Tags and Crests somehow work together, Mimi! Mimi: Huh? It's the Crest of Sincerity! I don't deserve it but if it'll help me take care of Palmon, I'll keep it! Palmon: Awww, thanks, Mimi!
What a happy ending with no nervousness or ambiguity whatsoever! Also, I like how "I didn't want this" became "I don't deserve this"; She would not fucking say that. You've characterized her as a self-important judgmental rich girl. Dub Mimi would absolutely think she deserves anything you can give her.
Also, before I forget: Spoilers, Mimi! We don't know about that yet!
Assessment: Cockatrimon is a delightful antagonist. Amazing punch-clock energy. He's a pitiful loser with an unbelievably game-breaking power. His job is strictly recreational but he just happened upon the kids by chance; With Etemon out-of-contact, now the local Denny's Manager is forced to try and step up and be the Warlord of Doom. And yet he's no less heinous for being pathetic.
Also, that makes two of Etemon's allies that the kids have stone-cold killed. Devimon gave them a taste for blood and now they're taking no prisoners. :P I jest, but this is the start of a recurring background plot detail regarding the 01 kids that will continue through this series and into 02.
I was really nervous because of that Mimi and Numemon scene at the start but thankfully the uncomfortable stuff ended there. Mimi managed to spend half the episode wearing a towel and didn't get harassed once!
This one's dub is complicated. They've gotten really good at figuring out the right jokes to slot in so that they add to a scene's tone rather than detracting. Etemon's musical number slays in the dub, too.
But also, there's a lot going on here and the dub doesn't convey much of it well. Both in terms of the larger plot and the smaller character beats, the dub of this episode feels much more confused, unfocused, and shallow than the original.
Also, the anti-Mimi bias is starting to show its face again; And they've been behaving themselves so much with her lately!
Episode 16 was a phenomenal dub, but while 17 is a mixed bag. It's really good when it's cracking jokes and riffing on the material, and really bad when it's trying to examine the plot and characters.

Noble Hearts - Prologue
ZoSan Royal AU
I’m still working on the title, but I wanted to start sharing some of what I have written before I post anything on AO3.
Summary: The threat of famine looms over the Kuraigana Kingdom as resources dwindle. Suspicion grips the royal Mihawk family when the prosperous Germa Kingdom offers aid by means of a transactional alliance. As tensions rise, the unforeseen connection between two princes may decide the fate of their kingdoms.
Warning: Violence and Angst
The midday sun bathed the tranquil gardens of the Vinsmoke Castle in a warm glow. Sanji, disheveled and bruised, was held in the familiar arms of his mother, Queen Sora. Tears streamed down his cheeks, dripping off his chin like soft raindrops.
"I'm so sick and tired of training," Sanji sobbed, his voice muffled against his mother's shoulder. "Dad is always comparing me to the others."
Sanji closed his eyes as his mother's gentle fingers combed the tangles from his hair. Moments like these soothed the sadness within him. In her embrace, there were no harsh demands to push his body to its breaking point and there was no relentless torment inflicted by his brothers.
"He just wants you to be the best you can be." Sora's words offered a feeble attempt at comfort, even Sanji could detect the hint of doubt in her voice.
“Why can’t I be like them?!” Sanji grit his teeth. His shoulders tensed and he curled into himself. “Not just the training. I hate that I have to care so much, and dad hates that I’m always crying.”
“Don’t dwell too deeply on such matters,” she urged, her hand cradling his tear-stained cheek. “Embracing your emotions can never be a flaw.”
“But mom…”
“Listen to me,” Sora insisted, her voice firm yet gentle. “Retaining your kind and empathetic nature is a strength, not a weakness. Though emotions may cause pain, they also grant you strength. You may not see it now, but our people will come to admire you for your sincerity and compassion.”
Sanji averted his gaze, unable to meet his mother's eyes. Despite her earnest plea for him to embrace his emotions, he found little solace in her words. He understood that her attempt to comfort him stemmed from her own need for reassurance. He couldn't shake the memories of his parents' frequent arguments, his father's harsh words directed at Sora for her gentle spirit and her inclination to help others. Those heated exchanges often ended with his father blaming her for what he perceived as Sanji's 'defective' personality.
Sora fell silent, as if searching for more words of solace to offer Sanji.
"How about we skip the rest of your training for the day?"
Sanji blinked away his tears, his gaze meeting hers shyly.
"Won't I get in trouble?" he questioned softly.
"Don’t worry about that. I’ll deal with your father." Sora said, firmly placing her hands on his shoulders. Sanji smiled, surprised by how much his mother’s reassurance temporarily eased the knot of anxiety in his chest. "Now, what would you like to do? We can spend some time in the kitchens if you like. Zeff tells me you are quite the little chef."
Sora playfully pulled at his cheek and Sanji couldn't help but swat her hand away with a giggle.
"I want to walk to the beach!" Sanji exclaimed eagerly.
"That’s a pretty far walk. Are you sure you wouldn’t want to take the carriage there?" Sora questioned with a raised brow, her concern tinged with a hint of amusement.
"I want to spend as much time with you as possible." Sanji replied with unwavering resolve. Although he longed for quality time with his mother, a deeper desire lingered within him; the long walk to the beach would provide more time away from his father’s overbearing nature, granting him a precious moment of freedom he desperately craved.
"My Sanji, you are too sweet," Sora reached for Sanji’s hand, offering it a gentle squeeze. Her smile radiating warmth. "If we leave now then we can be back in time for dinner."
The two left the garden to embark on their short journey. The sky stretched bright and blue above them, adorned with wisps of delicate clouds. The sun cast its warm rays upon them, a gentle breeze danced through the air, caressing their faces with its comforting touch. Tall grass swayed rhythmically, brushing against Sanji's knees as they strolled hand in hand toward the beach, Sanji's eyes sparkled with excitement as he shared his newfound interest with his mother.
"What nonsense is he filling in your head now?" Sora chuckled fondly.
"It’s not nonsense. It’s called the All Blue, and Zeff said that fish from all four seas reside there." Sanji insisted with a pout.
Sora’s eyes crinkled with amusement. Another bell-like laugh escaped her lips, the sound music to Sanji's ears.
“Sanji dear, I’m sure he meant it as a fairytale,” his mother attempted to reason gently. “Fish from one Sea can’t swim in another.”
“They can!” Sanji persisted, his determination unwavering. “Zeff said there is a current near Germa that pushes the fish from the East Sea into our Northern one. That’s how he is able to prepare us fish from the East! If fish from other seas can mix then that means it’s possible for the All Blue to be real.”
Sora looked thoughtful over this, actually considering if Sanji’s fantastical ramblings were possible. Then a small smile spread across her face, her eyes twinkling with a hint of mischief.
“Maybe we should sail on the course of the current together. See if it leads us to your All Blue.” Sora suggested, her voice filled with playful curiosity.
Sanji’s heart leapt gleefully in his chest at the prospect of embarking on such an adventure with his mother by his side.
“Really?!” he exclaimed, his eyes wide with excitement. Before his mother could answer, her smile suddenly dropped.
Sora stilled, her grip on Sanji’s hand tightening painfully, causing her knuckles to turn white. Her eyes widened with fear, and Sanji's heart skipped a beat, a sense of apprehension prickling at the edges of his consciousness as he followed his mother's gaze. Then, he saw it; a dark shape lurking amidst the tall grass that was unmistakably predatory in nature. A faint glint of its coppery scales caught the light.
A wave of fear washed over Sanji, threatening to paralyze him where he stood, his breath caught in his throat as he watched the creature feasting upon its prey of deer meat. With bated breath, they watched as the creature continued its grisly meal, each rip and tear echoing through the stillness of the field, oblivious to their presence for the moment. Sanji's mind raced, scrambling for a plan of action, but his thoughts were a chaotic whirlwind of fear and uncertainty.
"We must go," Sora whispered urgently, her voice barely audible above the rustling of the wind through the grass. "Slowly, and without drawing its attention."
Sanji nodded, his heart pounding in his chest as they began to edge backward, step by agonizing step, their eyes never leaving the creature's form. Every movement was measured, every breath a silent prayer for escape as they retreated from the scene of impending danger.
They finally broke free from the oppressive grip of the tall grass, when Sanji’s heel inadvertently stepped down on a twig from a fallen tree branch, the sharp SNAP slicing through the tense silence like a knife.
The creature’s gaze flickered in their direction, its bloodshot eyes locking onto Sora and Sanji with an unsettling intensity. Crimson blood dripped from its mouth, curling into a predatory grin. Sanji’s eyes widened as he beheld the creature’s face, a grotesque fusion of man and beast, its eyes gleaming with feral intelligence, its long horns arcing like gnarled branches.
With a feral roar, the creature lunged at them, its claws slashing through the air with deadly precision as it sought to claim its next prey.
Queen Sora grabbed hold of the fallen branch, wielding it like a makeshift weapon as she desperately sought to fend off the relentless assault. With a cry of defiance, she swung the branch with a might Sanji had never witnessed his mother wield before. The branch connected with the creature’s snarling face, momentarily driving it back with a fierce blow.
The Queen then stumbled and cried out in agony. Blood welled from a deep gash on her leg left by the creature’s razor-sharp claws, staining the floor crimson.
“Run, Sanji!” she gasped, her voice strained with pain. Sora pushed her son away, her gaze, which remained on the creature, was filled with fierce determination.
“I won’t leave you!” Sanji cried, his heart wrenching at the sight of his mother’s suffering.
“You have to! You’re faster than me. You have to run ahead for help!” Sora’s voice cracked with urgency, her grip on the branch faltering as the creature rose once more, its menacing presence looming over them like a dark shadow.
Sanji’s mind raced with conflicting emotions. If only he were stronger, he wouldn’t have to flee. He could stand his ground and fight alongside his mother, face the creature head-on. But as the creature turned its gaze towards him, its eyes gleaming with malice, his mother’s voice pierced through the chaos.
“SANJI! Do as I say and get help!” Sora’s voice desperately demanded obedience, commanding him to act.
With a heavy heart, Sanji nodded, swallowing his fear and steeling himself for what lay ahead. Sanji took one last look at his mother the turned and ran, his feet carrying him away from the danger and towards the hope of rescue.
Choking back tears, Sanji ran faster than he had in his entire life. His lungs felt as if they had caught fire, and his heart was thrumming at the base of his throat. Each step felt like a struggle against the weight of his fear, but he pushed himself onward, driven by the desperate need to save his mother.
Finally reaching the castle grounds, Sanji’s frantic pace did not falter. He continued to sprint, feeling the jolt in his knees, the wind dragging through his hair. He could see guards in the distance.
“HELP!” Sanji’s scream ripped through his throat. The distance began to wane between them, and he pushed herself to run faster, faster, until it felt like his bones might melt from the exertion. He could see their faces clearly now. Their brows furrowed in confusion. Sanji collided into them, his hands desperately clawing at their clothes to keep from falling to his knees. His voice strained as he tried to explain through his panting breaths, “The Queen… by the beach… something is chasing her!”
Several guards began running toward the direction Sanji had fled while one stayed with him, attempting to provide comfort. The wait was agony, each passing second stretching out into an eternity of uncertainty and fear.
After what felt like ages, Sanji's heart leaped with hope when he finally caught sight of the guards returning in the distance. His eyes scanned the group frantically, searching for any sign of his mother's presence among them. Then, his gaze landed on a sight that turned his veins to ice.
Sanji felt the world around him begin to tilt, his breath catching in his throat as he beheld the remnants of his mother's cloak being carried back by the guards. The fabric was smeared with grime and blood, a haunting testament to the horrors that had unfolded in his absence.
In that moment, a weight of despair settled heavily upon Sanji's shoulders, engulfing him in a sea of grief and anguish. Tears pricked at the corners of his eyes as he struggled to come to terms with the devastating truth of his mother's fate, his heart breaking into a million shattered pieces at the loss of the one person who had always been his guiding light in the darkness. Sanji knew that his life would never be the same again.

hello tumblr i just woke up from this crazy dream
so in this dream, i was in the living room of my old house (a really big room with high ceilings and this ugly gray carpet everywhere), sitting in front of the tv cabinet with my wii turned on. i'm not sure what controller is in my hands, but it's definitely not a wii remote
anyways, there's only one game i can play, and it's some sort of kingdom hearts game. i don't remember the name, just that it had the word "dream" in it, but it wasn't 3d. the logo was totally different from other games (it was just big maroon text with a black outline). i boot the game up, and i'm talking to someone in the room about how nervous i am, but nobody's in the room that i can see. i get a response from a voice that one of my sisters (i think it sounded like mona?) telling me that i'll be fine and that i'm this close to completing the game
i'm on the start menu now. the background is a black with dark blue patches and is covered in stars. i look at my save file; apparently i'm on the final boss. i start it up, and get thrown right into the boss fight, thinking "i've done all of this before"
the fight begins. i'm on a long cobblestone path with weeds growing between the rocks, a grassy field to my left, a big river and a row of old houses to my right. the camera starts behind me, showing me a long, yellow dragon with red eyes. i can't see it's tail, the thing is that long. there is no end in sight to this path. in the top left of the screen, i am given my objective as the camera moves over to me: defeat and kill the dragon.
i am now playing as sora, though i'm not sure from which game, maybe kh2, except he has his kh3 haircut. i just know i'm playing as sora, with donald and goofy next to me. we are running on this cobblestone path, and we have to jump over these big rocks in the path, but for some reason they don't jump, and they eventually die
once they're dead, the dragon comes at me and kill me. i get a game over screen, but instead of being upset, i sigh and just try again. this time only goofy dies, and when the dragon reaches me i am ready for it. i attack it, but it never fights back, and i get through half of its help before it shoots up toward the sky. i follow it, but instead of donald for a companion, it's a german shepherd and a girl who looks vaguely like kairi.
we fight the dragon in space. it kills me again. i try again, getting back to the same point, this whole time talking to the disembodied voice of my sister, even though i don't remember a word i said. this happens a few times, but each time, something feels more and more wrong. until the final time i try again, where it is no longer the dragon i am fighting in space. it's sora, and i am playing as some blank shadow of a character, with no face or name, just a basic keyblade. i am alone. my companions are gone. all i hear is the game music
i fight sora. i win. he's crying in pain by the end. suddenly i am taken to a blue screen, with a sequence of numbers and letters on it. there is a white keyboard in my hand. i am prompted to type the numbers, but i am crying, because if i do this will kill sora for good. he is here in the room now, as his kh1 self, hugging my left arm, screaming and crying.
i remember the first handful of numbers/letters: O21b00000. after that, i don't remember the rest. but as i type, the numbers distort and look scribbly. there is a picture of a heart, and it breaks with each key i hit. i hit the last one, and sora screams loudly as beams of light shoot out of him. he is dead. gone. and i have won my game
i sit there as the tv turns off. i am dumbfounded and start crying. dearly beloved starts playing and i turn around, thinking "i have done this before" and i see sora, his kh4 self now, standing there with a smile. he's okay. i run over to him, screaming and crying, and when i hug him, i hear myself saying, "it's okay, you can wake up now."
i wake up. i'm on my couch. it's 8am and i need to feed the pigs.
what the fuck just happened.

She pushed her son away, her gaze filled with fierce determination.
With one last look at his mother, he turned and ran, his feet carrying him away from the danger and towards the hope of rescue.
Choking back tears, Sanji ran faster than he had in his entire life. His lungs felt as if they had caught fire, and his heart was thrumming at the base of his throat. Each step felt like a struggle against the weight of his fear and uncertainty, but he pushed himself onward, driven by the desperate need to save his mother.

Killua x Reader
'Y/N, are you sure you want to do this? The hunter exam is not going to be easy,' my best friend, Sora, asked me worriedly. 'Yes, I am sure. We both know that I have been dreaming of becoming a hunter since I was little,' I replied confidently. Sora sighed and shook her head. 'Alright, I'll go with you to the exam. But promise me, you'll be careful.' 'I promise,' I smiled at her before we both headed towards the hunter exam location. As we arrived, I couldn't help but feel a little nervous. Sora gave me a reassuring pat on the back and whispered, 'You can do this, Y/N. Believe in yourself.' 'Thanks, Sora,' I replied, taking a deep breath. We entered the exam room and were greeted by the examiner, a tall, stern-looking man. He explained the rules and gave us a brief description of what we could expect during the exam. As the exam started, I quickly realized that it was indeed going to be a tough challenge. I had to use all my skills and abilities as a neko to complete the tasks. And to my surprise, I saw a boy with silver hair and silver eyes flying through the obstacles with ease. I couldn't help but admire his skills and agility. He seemed to be enjoying the challenges, and his cheerful and cheeky demeanor caught my attention. But as soon as he noticed my presence, he turned his gaze towards me and smirked. 'Hey there, neko girl. Having a hard time keeping up?' he said, a mischievous glint in his eyes. 'I'm not struggling, thank you. And my name is Y/N, not 'neko girl',' I retorted, trying not to let his comment get to me. 'Heh, feisty one, aren't you? Well, Y/N, I'm Killua. And I assure you, I'll be the first one to pass this exam,' he said confidently. We continued to compete and banter with each other throughout the challenges. Killua was a skilled hunter, but he could be quite rude and impatient with others, especially if they got in his way. And yet, there were moments when he would get embarrassed and try to hide it with a smirk. As the days passed, I found myself growing fond of Killua's company. Despite his rude behavior, there was something about him that drew me in. And he seemed to soften up around me, which I found both surprising and heartwarming. One day, during a break from the exam, Killua and I were sitting together, enjoying the peaceful scenery. As we chatted, I noticed a scar on his arm and asked about it. His mood instantly changed, and he became defensive. 'It doesn't matter. It's just a stupid scar,' he mumbled, crossing his arms. I knew that he didn't want to talk about it, so I dropped the subject. But from that moment onward, I made a silent vow to myself to get to know Killua better and try to understand him. As the final phase of the exam arrived, Killua and I found ourselves as part of the last few competitors. We cheered each other on, and in the end, we both managed to pass the exam. As we celebrated our success, Killua grabbed my hand and said with a genuine smile, 'I'm glad we met, Y/N. You're not like anyone I've ever met before.' I couldn't help but feel my heart flutter at his words. And in that moment, I knew that Killua's rude and mischievous exterior was just a façade. He had a softer side to him, and I was lucky enough to see it. From that day onward, Killua and I became the best of friends, and our bond only grew stronger with time. And even though Killua still had his moments of being cheeky and rude, I knew that deep down, he was a caring and loyal friend. And I was grateful to have met him during the hunter exam, for he not only helped me achieve my dream of becoming a hunter but also showed me that there was more to a person than meets the eye.

How To Win Your Senpai In 10 Days Chapter 4
Happy Odaiba Day!
Really wanted to get an update for my Jyoumi romcom fic out today, and I managed to do it! It's awesome to see so much Digimon love and I'm going to add onto it! I love Digimon, and I love this fic and I'm so happy to share the Jyoumi AND the Digimon love!
Chapter Summary: Hoping to get her idol to feel better, Yolei plans a night for her, Mimi, Sora, and Kari. Of course, being Yolei Inoue, she's got a lot more in store. Spurred on by the night's events, Mimi gets an idea in mind with what she wants to do with everything that's happened the past few days.
If you want to check out the whole fic, you can do so on AO3 here!
I hope you all enjoy!
---
She may have been able to hold back her tears on the car ride home with Joe and Manami yesterday, but she certainly couldn’t that night. She told her mother and father about her heartbreak the day before and how it had gotten even worse that afternoon. No matter what soothing words or hugs they gave her, though, it didn’t help. Mimi wasn’t sure what would help at that point.
Yolei had the big idea for a girl’s night the next night, reviving the DigiDestined Girls group text after a month and a half to present the idea. Her parents were gone visiting some family for a few days, which left the Inoue apartment the perfect place for them all to gather. As much as she was looking forward to more time with her friends, a part of her couldn’t help but wonder if they were trying to look after her and make sure she was doing alright. Still, the thought brought a smile to her face and she nearly immediately replied that she was in.
But even the excitement of girl’s night couldn’t get Mimi up bright and early, instead holding onto Palmon as she laid in bed, feeling the slightest hint of relief at having her Digimon there with her. If it was up to her, she would’ve stayed in bed and lazed about in her pajamas, and at most she would’ve gone out to watch some dramas with her mother and cry her heart out some more.
Both her mother and Palmon insisted that she take a long bath, put on a face mask, and then get dressed up in something cute and fun for girl’s night. She went along with it with a weak smile, not entirely feeling it as she sat in the bath on her phone, checking with Yolei to see if there was anything she wanted her to bring.
“Just your beautiful, perfect, stunning self!” was the text she received back.
“But also, an overnight bag! I’ve got everything else covered!”
So there wouldn’t be any fancy cookies from her, she was sure the others would understand given the circumstances.
She allowed herself to soak for just a few extra minutes, half tempted to fall asleep in the warm water, but once the alarm on her phone went off, she got out to get ready.
“Are you feeling any better, Mimi?” Palmon asked as Mimi looked through her drawers to find some cute pajamas.
“…Not entirely,” she admitted with a long sigh, shaking her head after. It was the easiest way to tell Palmon without breaking her poor Digimon’s heart. She knew she had to be honest, but there was no point in making her partner feel worse about Mimi not feeling great.
Palmon let out a quiet whine before she popped off the bed, throwing her fronds into the air.
“You know, I bet whatever Yolei has planned will help!”
Mimi sucked in a quiet breath and put on a smile as she turned to look at her partner, hoping to seem brighter than she felt.
“Definitely!” she chirped, before taking the pink tank top she was holding and shoving it into her duffel bag. After that she tossed in some nice pink pajama pants and hoisted the bag over her shoulder, giving Palmon a thumbs up.
“You ready to go?” Mimi asked.
“Yeah!”
With a quick goodbye to her parents and the promise to text as soon as she got there, Mimi and Palmon made their way to the Inoue apartment. It felt strange to be out with Palmon as normal, but with how so much of the world had been exposed to Digimon over the past couple of years, she was glad she didn’t have to hide her partner or pretend she was just a stuffed toy anymore. It was especially heartwarming to see all the kids who seemed so fascinated by Palmon and asked them about Digimon.
It was these little things that made her heart feel so much bigger despite all the pain that dwelt just underneath the surface. And it was enough to help distract Palmon from needing to worry about her on the rest of the trip to Yolei’s. As she got ready to take the elevator up, she started to feel excited. Excited and, honestly, a bit anxious. Were they going to fret over her constantly? Were they going to look at her all sad because of Joe and Manami? Were they—
“Hey! Mimi! Palmon!”
Mimi’s head whipped around in an instant, and she blinked a few times before her eyes trained on Kari and Gatomon.
“Oh, Kari, it’s great to see you!” Mimi cooed as the younger girl jogged over to her to catch up to the two of them. Kari wasted no time in wrapping Mimi in a hug, and while Palmon joined in, Gatomon gracefully jumped off Kari’s shoulder and onto the ground.
“You just saw me yesterday! You saw both of us!” Kari laughed.
“I know, I know,” Mimi said, the two finally letting go of each other, “I guess I’m still not used to being back yet.”
“I’m sure you’ll adjust soon enough. I imagine your internal schedule must still be pretty off, huh?” Kari asked.
“Oh, you have no idea,” Mimi sighed, “I’ve been making sure to stay up at normal hours, but it isn’t easy.”
Granted, part of that was because of how low she felt and how nice lying in bed in the dark was.
“If it was me I’d definitely be taking plenty of cat naps,” Gatomon added, before jumping up to hit the elevator button with a claw.
“It’s been tempting,” Mimi said between giggles.
“Well, hopefully Yolei doesn’t put you through the wringer tonight,” Kari said.
“I’m sure she’s planning on going all out,” Mimi said.
Knowing Yolei, anything could happen tonight. As much as she was looking forward to it, she only hoped it would be something fun and relaxing, since she didn't have the energy for anything too wild. Still, she needed to be prepared for anything.
The elevator finally dinged and its doors opened, and after letting Kari and Gatomon go first, Mimi sucked in a deep breath as she and Palmon followed.
***
As soon as they got there, they saw Sora waiting at the door, and the sight of yet another friend left Mimi’s heart feeling just a touch lighter.
Biyomon flapped her arms happily as the girls and their partners came over, and before any greetings could be exchanged, the door swung open and Yolei greeted them all with a wide smile.
“My favorite ladies!” she said, gesturing for them all to walk in, and following up with a hug as each of them passed by.
Hawkmon was in the kitchen pouring himself a mug of tea, letting out a sigh of relief as he walked out.
“Hey Hawkmon, are you here to chaperone us tonight?” Sora asked.
“Well, we never know what Yolei might drag you all into, so I imagine my presence tonight might be useful in case she decides to go too far,” Hawkmon said. He let out a quiet hum after and then took a drink of his tea. He gave Yolei an almost knowing look before walking off to the living room.
Kari quirked an eyebrow before she slowly looked at Yolei.
“Should we be worried?” she asked. Yolei waved a hand to dismiss her concerns.
“Nooooo, no no no! I just want us all to have a fun, chill night!” she insisted, though the unspoken “for Mimi” lingered in the air. “Don’t you trust me?”
Sora fixed Yolei with a hard stare, hoping that it would help reveal any secrets that her junior might be keeping. Despite the awkward, almost anxious grin on her face in response, she remained silent. Mimi clapped her hands together after a moment to break the silence.
“Well I can’t wait! Thanks for inviting us over, Yolei,” Mimi smiled.
“Now all of you, go into the living room! I’m gonna get a few things from the kitchen,” she winked before padding off. The remaining three girls shared confused looks as they heard Yolei rifling around. Kari started to walk ahead of Sora and Mimi, at which Sora turned to look at Mimi.
“Hey… are you doing ok? After yesterday?” she whispered.
Mimi looked down, unable to help the frown on her face. “I’m… managing,” she said, voice quiet and shaking, before she sucked in a sharp breath. It was a lie she hoped to convince Sora of, but it was dashed once tears started to well up in her eyes. Sora grimaced.
“Mimi…”
Mimi wiped her eyes with the back of her hand and shook her head, “No no, I’m fine, really. Honest,” she said, doing her best to force a smile. Both Palmon and Biyomon looked up with clear worry on their faces.
Palmon reached a frond up to Mimi’s hand to hold gently in hopes of soothing her partner even a bit. It helped a bit, but Mimi still felt her heart ache as each little moment from yesterday’s picnic played over and over in her head.
Mimi held on tight to Palmon’s frond as they made their way into the living room, and Mimi wasted no time as she curled up onto one end of the couch, tucking her feet under her as she looked at the small TV. It was off right now, and her dim reflection looking back at her.
Kari and Sora looked at each other, neither of them quite sure what to say to Mimi in those moments. The silence was soon gone in favor of drawers being opened and slammed shut at a rapid rate. Kari cringed as she could only begin to imagine what could be happening back there.
“Almost…! Ready…!” Yolei called out from the kitchen, and Hawkmon sighed from behind his cup. Sora looked over at Kari.
“So… how’re you, Kari?”
“Oh! I’m good. Not entirely looking forward to school starting…” she sighed, “I’m glad that we’ve all had so much time to hang out.”
That was enough to bring a slight smile to Mimi’s face as she continued to stare off into the distance. It was small, but between the airport, tonight, and even the picnic, she had been able to see her friends more than she had throughout most of the time she lived in New York.
“Oooookaaaaaay! We’re gonna have a killer night!” Yolei whooped. The three girls and their Digimon partners all turned to see Yolei walking over with two wine bottles in one hand and a mess of wine glasses in the other. Sora’s eyes went wide instantly, and she shot up from the other end of the couch.
“Yolei, no!” she shouted, though she didn’t seem deterred in the slightest.
“Yessss!” she shot back with a wide grin.
“Yolei,” Kari sighed, shaking her head.
“Come on! It’ll be fun!” Yolei insisted. “There’s no parents here, it’s just us girls, no harm done!” Yolei shrugged as she walked over to set what she had so far on the coffee table, before she padded back to the kitchen without so much as pausing for a breath.
Sora sighed and started to massage her temples.
“I had a feeling she had something planned,” Hawkmon mumbled.
“We should have expected it,” Kari deadpanned.
“I can hear you guys, you know!”
The freezer slammed shut, and moments later Yolei walked back with some pints of ice cream and spoons.
Mimi blinked as she took it all in. Her friends, wine, and ice cream… right now, with how low she was feeling, she couldn’t have asked for anything else.
Without a word, Mimi reached forward, flipped open the lid of one— chocolate chocolate chip— and jabbed a spoon into it.
“See, Mimi is up for it!” Yolei said with a wild gesture towards her.
“Mimi…” Sora said with a frown.
It dawned on Mimi in those moments that Yolei had probably planned this what with how prepared she seemed to be. As much as she appreciated her junior’s consideration, she also felt bad that things seemed bad enough that Yolei felt the need to go all out for this.
At the same time, wine sounded so good right that she couldn’t complain too badly. As she waited for the ice cream to thaw a little bit more, she leaned forward and grabbed the glass. She saw the look Sora gave her and offered her a weak smile.
“I think I’ve earned a little wine by now, right?” she said. Sora’s look softened a bit and she sighed.
“You aren’t wrong. Let’s just… be responsible with it, ok?”
“We will!” Yolei insisted, popping a corkscrew into one of the wine bottles.
“Sora, are you sure about this?” Kari asked, looking over at her pleadingly.
“No, not entirely, but I know that there’s no use in trying to stop Yolei when she has her mind set to something,” Sora said as she gestured to Yolei, who pulled the cork out and started to pour the first glass for Mimi.
Kari sighed again and shook her head before she took a seat on one of the nearby chairs.
“Look, that’s why it’s a girl’s night sleepover!” Yolei said, now working on pouring a third glass, “We drink, have ice cream, bitch about everything that’s bothering us, and then we sleep it off! Everyone wins!”
“Well what about us?” Gatomon asked.
“I have a bunch of snacks in the kitchen. Especially those fish crackers you like so much, Gatomon,” Yolei offered with a wink.
Gatomon looked from Kari, to Yolei, then back to Kari. After a moment she hopped off of Kari’s lap and started walking to the kitchen without a word.
“Just one glass of wine, Yolei!” Kari insisted. Yolei grinned.
“Ok, ok! Just one glass for you!” Yolei said, pleased by her victory.
At that point, Mimi grabbed her glass and took a long drink, letting out a sigh of contentment after.
“I needed that so much, thank you Yolei,” she said, voice wavering and eyes watering. Palmon pulled Mimi into a hug, nearly causing some of the dark red liquid to spill onto the couch.
“Mimi, I’m so sorry about how sad you’ve been feeling!” Palmon cried.
“Me, too… I know things weren’t great yesterday,” Sora said.
Mimi stared off at her reflection on the TV again. She didn’t want to think about that picnic, yet it was all she could keep her mind on, even now.
“Well, I still think he’s an idiot for choosing someone else over you,” Yolei said, with a shrug, before grabbing her glass to take a drink, “I know I said it yesterday, but like, I would be lucky if I could date Mimi.”
“…He really should have told you. I know he doesn’t owe us that, but it just doesn’t make sense that he wouldn’t say anything,” Kari frowned.
“I didn’t even realize he never said anything,” Sora said, pinching the bridge of her nose, “If I had known I would’ve let you know, Mimi.”
“No, it’s ok Sora, really. Like you said, you didn’t know,” Mimi insisted, before taking another long drink. Once she finally pulled it from her lips, it was nearly empty, and Yolei wasted no time in filling it back up, nearly to the rim. Sora cleared her throat loudly, causing Yolei to duck her head, flushing from embarrassment as an awkward laugh bubbled from her throat.
“If it’s anyone’s fault, it’s Joe! Stupid Joe,” Yolei grumbled as she took her glass again, swirling the liquid in it before she took another sip.
“He’s not stupid,” Mimi said, swallowing down some nausea as an image of him and Minami flashed in her mind.
“You don’t need to defend him,” Yolei said, “He hurt you! You’re allowed to be mad at him! Right?” she asked, looking over her shoulder at Kari, who glanced away.
“Right?” Yolei asked again, this time looking over at Sora, who, too, remained silent. Yolei let out a long, frustrated sigh, then looked down at Hawkmon, “Right!?”
Hawkmon folded his arms, then after a moment, nodded sagely, “Though I don’t believe it would be right to take it out on Joe, I believe Yolei is right in her general point.”
Yolei’s jaw dropped in shock, “Wait, you’re agreeing with me?”
“To an extent, yes. I believe Mimi is allowed to be frustrated if that’s how she feels, though, like I said, I don’t believe it would be right to take it out on him. Nor is it right for you to try and egg Mimi on to be mad at him.”
“I’m not!” Yolei shouted.
“I would never take it out on him,” Mimi said, taking another sip, “I’m not sure if I do feel mad at him…”
“How are you feeling about it all?” Kari asked, “If you want to talk about it of course.”
“Yeah! Come on, have some ice cream, too!” Yolei said, before lowering herself on the ground next to the chair Kari was sitting in, taking another drink as she looked up at her senior on the couch.
Mimi pursed her lips, trying to focus on looking at the wine as opposed to any of her friends or the Digimon.
“I know that he doesn’t owe me a relationship or anything, but I still feel heartbroken,” Mimi finally spoke up, feeling herself grow closer and closer to crying.
“Mimi…” Palmon whined sadly, still holding onto her partner.
Mimi set her wine glass after taking another sip, then folded her hands together in her lap.
“I just thought after all this time I’d come back and it would be this incredible moment and it just… wasn’t.” She began to wring her hands together anxiously, “I poured my heart out to him about how I’ve loved him for so long and how I was so ready for us to start going out now that I was back.”
“Oh, I’m so sorry,” Kari said. Mimi sniffled, barely holding back tears.
“I-It’s ok,” Mimi said, voice shaking, swallowing down a lump in her throat. It was getting harder and harder to resist breaking down the more she talked about it, but at the same time, all she wanted was to talk about this. A part of her wanted to cry about it, especially after yesterday. Even if she said it was ok, it wasn’t. Not with how much her heart had been aching since then, and especially now.
Mimi was quiet for a moment, then reached forward to grab the ice cream container she had stabbed a spoon into earlier, now soft enough to eat, and took a big scoop to eat.
“Oh this is sooooooo goooood,” she groaned, sinking into the couch a bit more as she took another spoonful to eat.
“Well, what are the rest of us waiting for? Girl’s night! Girl’s night!” Yolei shouted, following it up with a loud whoop.
As opposed to the wine, Kari was quick to grab one of the containers of ice cream, wasting no time digging in. Sora eyed the wine, and when Yolei caught sight of it, a large grin grew on her face.
“C’moooooon Sora, it’ll be fuuuuuuun!” Yolei said in a sing-song voice, waiting with bated breath to see if her senior would indulge with her and Mimi. Sora closed her eyes, silently contemplating for a few moments, then grabbed a glass and took a sip.
The sight left Yolei and Mimi surprised, and the loud cheer Yolei made left Mimi unable to help but burst into giggles.
Yolei dropped down onto the middle of the couch, wine nearly flying out from her glass from the suddenness of it, and took a long drink as she, too, sank into the cushions.
“Girl’s night is already so fun,” Yolei grinned.
***
The group had changed into their pajamas a while ago, just after they had first started the “festivities,” but despite the comfy, bright pajamas Mimi had on, her mood was anything but. All she wanted was to cry and languish.
One bottle of wine just had a last few drops while the other had maybe a glass left in it. Three pints of ice cream were decimated, with Mimi cradling one in her arms and Yolei and Kari sharing one more. A few bags of chips had been broken out, with Sora reaching for another handful from inside a crumpled bag that was nearly empty.
Kari’s single glass of wine was nearly finished, and she had slunk onto the floor, face bright red from the alcohol, unable to stop the giggles she burst into every so often.
Sora had managed to finish her glass, and though she was more collected than Tai’s younger sister, she was still feeling a little woozy, trying to do all she could to try and (fruitlessly) soak up the alcohol.
“If we’re being honest,” Yolei said, swirling the wine in her glass a little too hard, nearly causing it to fly out, “What’s so great about him anyways?”
“Nooo, he’s wonderful!” Mimi cried, putting a hand to her heart.
That didn’t deter Yolei, though. “I’m just saying, he’s not even that handsome. You could do waaaaaaay better!”
“Yolei!” Kari shouted. Yolei whipped around to face her.
“He is handsome, though! He’s so tall and adorable and he’s got that awkward charm and his glasses are cute and oh my GOD when he had long hair!” Mimi gushed, the words messily spilling from her tongue as the tears welled up in her eyes again.
“Oh, Mimi…” Sora frowned. She shot Yolei a look, and Yolei ducked her head.
“I was just trying to help! Mimi should know she’s the ultimate catch! She could get anyone she wants!”
“But I just want Jooooooe!” Mimi sobbed as the waterworks began and the tears broke through, unable to be held back any longer. “He’s so perfect and I love him and I don’t want anyone else!”
“But you could do so much better and he needs to realize what he missed out on!” Yolei said.
“Yolei, I really don’t think this is going to work,” Kari whispered.
“I’m just trying to help her feel better!” Yolei whisper-shouted. However, Mimi was back to sniffling.
“But he’s p-p-perfect for me…” Mimi said, voice tight, before more tears began to spill.
She truly believed it. Sure, she was young, but she wanted to believe in true love. In the idea that she and Joe were meant to be. It made it all the harder to accept that this was how it turned out.
The room fell silent as Mimi started to cry again. After a minute, she grabbed her glass again.
“I mean I just don’t think it’s fair!” Mimi cried out suddenly, her words starting to slur together as she took another gulp of wine.
“No, no, you’re totally right!” Yolei said, hiccuping when she paused for a breath, “It’s not fair and you’re sooooooo right to say it!”
“I mean, just, it’s us, right?” she asked loudly. “It’s always been us! Ever since we went to the Digital World! He was always there for me, and— and I was there for him, and—”
“…You’re not wrong,” Sora said as she crunched on some chips.
“See!”
Yolei leaned over to grab a spoonful from the pint her and Kari were sharing, letting the spoon rest in her mouth.
“That’s why I’m saying you need to fight for him!” Yolei shouted. Kari cringed at the sudden increase in volume.
“Yolei! You said you wouldn’t encourage Mimi to get between them!” Kari chided. Yolei’s exaggerated shrug nearly knocked the spoon from Kari’s hand.
“But wouldn’t you want someone to fight for you? I would! Just think about how romantic that would be!” Yolei insisted. Sora shook her head, clenching her eyes shut as she suddenly felt a wave of dizziness hit her.
“I mean…” Kari mumbled.
“Just imagine! TK and Davis and that guy you talked about who’s in your math class fighting for your affection! Wouldn’t you love that?”
Kari let out a squeak as she covered her mouth, her face reddening even more, if such a thing were possible.
Sora’s eyes widened and she couldn’t help the teasing smile that quickly grew on her features.
“A boy in your math class? Does Tai know about this?” she asked.
“No!” she shouted, the word muffled by her hands. Yolei was cracking up, and even Mimi couldn’t help but feel the slightest bit better (and distracted) by the way they were teasing Kari.
“It shouldn’t be a surprise to anyone that you have everyone fawning over you,” Yolei shrugged.
“She’s right! You’re so adorable, Kari! You’re going to be a real heartbreaker soon,” Mimi said with a wink. She was still teary, still ping-ponging between feeling good and feeling miserable, and even though she knew the alcohol wasn’t helping, she couldn’t help but want to drink. Partly to feel better, but mostly to try and push down those bad feelings by any means possible.
Kari let out a groan as she buried her face in her hands, mortified to a degree which she never had been before.
“Well, clearly Kari likes that idea, no matter what she says,” Yolei grinned, taking a spoonful of ice cream for herself. She washed it down with a gulp of wine, before turning her attention to Sora.
“And Sora, wouldn’t you just loooove for Matt to fight for you?” Yolei asked. Sora rolled her eyes.
“That’s different and you know it,” Sora sighed.
“How so?”
“Because we’re dating! That’s completely different! He would be fighting for his girlfriend! Not fighting for someone who he isn’t in a relationship with!”
The reminder that she wasn’t in a relationship with Joe caused her face to crumple again, and she fell into another bout of sobs, finding solace in another large spoonful of ice cream.
“Mimi, don’t cry,” Sora frowned, “It’ll get better soon.”
“I don’t want it to get better soon,” she said between sniffles, “I want it to get better now!”
She wanted her heart to stop aching constantly.
She didn’t want the thought of seeing Joe to be the most awkward thing in the world.
And she wanted her time back in Japan to actually be happy, and not completely miserable.
Her spoon hit the bottom of the pint with a dull thud, the sound only compounding her sorrow.
Sora crawled along the couch and wrapped her arms around Mimi in a tight hug.
Mimi’s body continued to shake as she sobbed, and both Kari and Yolei stumbled over to the couch to join in.
“I just…!” she sniffled, “I just wanna hold his hand, and-and give him kisses when we meet after school, and hold him, and…!”
Mimi burst into another loud sob, body shaking as those images flashed in her mind, so close, but just out of reach.
“Can I have one more glass, please?” Mimi asked as her friends finally pulled away.
“Mimi, I don’t know if that’s a good idea…” Sora said.
“It’s Mimi’s night! I mean, it’s all of our night but it’s also Mimi’s night! If she wants more wine she gets more wine!” Yolei said. She took the bottle and poured the last of it out into Mimi’s glass. Mimi shifted up in her seat and took a sip.
“Thanks.”
“Look, all I’m saying is I just think Mimi would be in the right if she wanted to get Joe back,” Yolei said.
“It’s not getting him back though, Yolei,” Sora said, “Don’t encourage it!”
Yolei folded her arms, “Well, we know Mimi, but we don’t know Manami! Don’t you want to root for Mimi? Don’t you guys want her to win?”
“It’s not about winning or losing…” Kari told her.
“Yolei, I appreciate it, but…” Mimi trailed off, looking down at the little bit of liquid remaining in her glass.
“Maybe I just… lost my chance,” she finally said, tears running down her cheeks. She continued to look down at her wine as the other girls looked at her with rapt attention. “Maybe I should’ve told him sooner and seen if he wanted to try to date long distance, or… or something.”
No matter how much both Yolei’s voice and her own rang in the back of her mind that she should “fight for her man,” Sora and Kari were right.
“I could never try and tear them apart or get in the middle of it. I want him to be happy.”
But that still didn’t stop the voice. Even if she insisted that yesterday, too, it couldn’t stop that feeling from lingering deep inside.
Sora set a gentle hand on Mimi’s shoulder, “I’m proud of you, Mimi,” she said. Mimi mustered up a weak smile in response.
“Thanks…”
The way her stomach churned unsettled her, and she downed the last gulp of wine, setting the glass down with a shaky hand.
All she had left was some ice cream that was slowly starting to melt.
Kari started to talk to Yolei about her insistence she would want guys to fight for her, unable to help but burst into giggles again partway through, and Mimi fell silent, slowly sipping away at her glass.
She deserved to be happy, too. She deserved to have that chance with Joe. If it didn’t work out, then that was one thing, but she never— they never had a chance to see. As her friends talked and the night crept along more and more, the thought remained at the forefront of her mind.
When there was a lull in the conversation, Mimi managed to place the finally finished quart on the coffee table and shifted on the couch, now resting her head on the arm.
“Would you guys hate me if I did fight for him?” she asked.
“What?” Sora asked.
“Of course not! I’m totally here to cheer you on!” Yolei shouted.
That brought a small smile to Mimi’s face.
“Mimi, I thought you just said you wouldn’t,” Kari said.
“I know! I know, and I’m not saying I would, but like…” she trailed off. Her mind was spinning and it was getting harder to find the words she was looking for.
“What if, is all,” she said.
“…I wouldn’t hate you if you did that, but I would be upset that you decided to do it, especially after you said you wouldn’t,” Sora told her.
“I don’t think any of us could ever hate you, Mimi,” Kari nodded, “But… I would probably feel the same as Sora,” she cringed.
“O-Ok…” she said slowly.
It hurt, but it wasn’t like she could blame them for feeling that way. Maybe she would feel the same way if she actually did try and fight for him and win him over. But at the same time, she just wasn’t sure if she could sit and wait and possibly never get her chance.
Mimi forced out a laugh and rubbed the back of her neck, “It’s probably just the alcohol talking!” she blurted out suddenly, “I’ve had so much to drink tonight.”
Sora shot a look at Yolei, who immediately looked away.
She didn’t exactly feel that way, though. No, she was starting to get stuck on the idea that fighting for Joe was the right thing. She couldn’t help it, she didn’t want to hurt anyone, but she couldn’t stop that idealist nature leading her to think about something so happy and idyllic. For now, she was able to keep the thoughts of Joe being angry at her, hurting him and Manami, and how this could ruin her most valued friendships just out of mind.
“Maybe we should get some sleep. I can go grab some pillows and blankets in the closet,” Yolei said as she managed to push herself to her feet, teetering in place before she managed to get her balance.
“Just don’t wake the Digimon!” Kari said.
“I won’t, I’ll be right back!” Yolei said before she stumbled off to the hallway.
“I’ll go with her just in case she’s too drunk,” Sora said, before getting up and slowly following Yolei down the hall.
Mimi looked over to Kari, unable to help but smile gently.
“How are you holding up for your first time drinking?” she asked.
“Well the room is still kind of spinning so… maybe ok? I could probably be doing a lot worse, I think.”
“Don’t worry, it’ll be worse in the morning,” Mimi chuckled, “I remember my first time drinking. And my first hangover, ugh,” she groaned.
“I’m not looking forward to it,” Kari said, closing her eyes to try and stop the room from moving around so much.
“We’ll get you something in the morning to eat to help. Don’t worry, I won’t leave my girls out to dry.”
“Thanks, Mimi.”
“Of course, sweetie. Oh, and the number one piece of advice I always hear: don’t text while drinking or drunk. Especially not someone you like.”
“I-I think I can do my best to manage that, I mean I don’t have anyone who would even fit that!” Kari said, letting out an awkward laugh as her eyes darted anywhere but at Mimi.
“Don’t worry, my lips are sealed.”
It wasn’t long until Yolei and Sora came stumbling back in, arms so full of pillows and blankets they could barely see past them. Yolei tossed the blankets on the floor and put her hands on her hips.
“Our partners are somehow sleeping soundly, so I think that’s a sign we should, too,” Sora said, craning her neck over to see the clock, seeing it was well after midnight.
“That’s a good idea. I could really use it,” Yolei sighed, as she moved the coffee table out of the way.
Even with the combined effort of the four girls, it took over fifteen minutes to get the blankets and pillows spread out.
“Thanks for tonight, Yolei, this was great,” Mimi said as she pulled a blanket over her, snuggling against her pillow.
“Anytime,” Yolei said, “We need to do another one of these soon.”
“Yeah,” Sora agreed, letting out a gentle hum as she closed her eyes, “Hopefully with less wine, though.”
The girls tittered for a moment, and Mimi rolled over on her side, pawing for her phone which fell between the couch cushions. When she finally grabbed it, she hid it under her blanket to make sure no one would see, and began slowly tapping away a text.
[Tachikawa Mimi]: Heyyyy!
[Tachikawa Mimi]: Hope yuo had a good day!
[Tachikawa Mimi]: Wana hang soon?
[Tachikawa Mimi]: Txt me whenevr!
[Tachikawa Mimi]: Its late tho sry good nihgt! lol
Mimi gently set the phone back on the couch, and as she closed her eyes and began to slowly fade off to sleep, she couldn’t help but feel a little bit better. Maybe sober her in the morning would feel different, but for now, she had a plan, and she was ready.

Can we pls hear some of the unique nominations? (I understand if you wanna keep em under wraps for now but I love hearing about characters other ppl think have dissociative swag!) also tysm for running this ily and I hope you have a great day!!! <<<333
I won't spoil ALL of them but oh man oh man what are some really interesting ones that we didn't get during round 1, oh how can i choose,,,
Some I've really liked are the daycare attendants from FNaF Security Breach because every time I think I'm no longer in the FNaFdom I just see funky lil guys and my heart goes BRRRR
The person who submitted "Every Computer Lab" from IRL because that's so funny that I might allow it to be an exception to the "fictional characters only" rule, but regardless it made me smile
Tbh there's a lot of characters I DON'T know, but just reading the responses on why is an absolute delight. I'm getting many blorbo-in-laws from this <3
Happy Moon Knight got nominated at least once this time around! Still haven't seen but I've heard a lot of good things :D
Quite a few book character submissions which is cool as heck, including but not limited to: Norma Khan from DeadEndia, Warglass from Inhibitor Phase (Revelation Space Series), Logen Ninefingers from The First Law trilogy, and a few more!
The sheer number of Kingdom Hearts submissions... yeah. Yeah I. I feel that. You're all very seen. We'll have to figure out how to break them up (because there's a few that combine a few characters via the Heart Hotel, which counts because Kingdom Hearts sure has a lot of "theyre TECHNICALLY the same character but TECHNICALLY different characters") but that'll be fun since I believe we only had Sora the first time around!
Aaaand as I was typing this my partner just sat up sharply and went "VANITAS AND VENTUS. I NEED TO SUBMIT VANITAS AND VENTUS." And I'm getting a chortle from that :3
There are. SO MANY i didnt mention in this ask to trust me I didn't mention nearly all of the ones that I take absolute delight in but that's just a neat lil sampler of some of the ones I've seen this time around that are different from ones we got in round 1~
AND THANK YOU I HOPE UR DAY IS GOOD TOO!!!

Hello, Can I request sort of an angsty sora x reader where the readers heart feels super hurt and abandoned because sora doesn't have as much time as he used to, to spend with them cause of his traveling. They feel super sad and a little angry so they leave without telling sora and go to the realm of darkness hoping to find peace and quiet. Not taken over by the darkness but just wanting to be away from everything thats bothering them. Sora eventually finds them but they are still mad and unwilling to leave, thinking he doesn't care. What would he do to get them home again? How far would he go to bring them back?
Ahh, I'm sorry these are taking so long!! I just have so many and college and Genshin is a daily grind and friends!! Gosh, I'm going to do this as a slightly more literary piece to make up for it. Enjoy!
Where the Heart is - Sora x Reader Angst/Comfort
Deep in the Realm of Darkness, the ashen waves that lapped against the sand were nothing more than white noise: a monotonous sound that filled stagnant air. If you focused closely enough on the repetitive washing of water, maybe it would be easier to forget why you were so entrenched in darkness. The pearlescent moon may have been shining on overhead, but it was eternal there, losing its lustre and intrigue.
You sighed. You should be angry, enraged, even, at the fact that Sora's time was continuously stolen away by the worlds. You should be and yet it was difficult to dismiss the aching longing in your heart for the smiling boy. Such a desperate desire to occupy more of his time bested the "need" be mad. The longer you spent with your mind filled with memories of his smiling face, his ecstatic voice, and his encouraging words, the deeper the craving wormed into your heart.
Hearing his voice was solace, like the Sun breaking after a silent night filled with loud thoughts. Still, you chose not to look directly at the glowing star behind you - surely it would be bad for you to forgive him so easily? You had a point to prove and, if mirroring his behaviour was what got him to think more seriously about how it affected you, then mirror him you would. His voice sounded so distraught and Sora's hand lowered slowly after recognising you weren't going to forgive him with the snap of a finger.
He came to sit beside you in the greyed sand. For once, there was no Keyblade in sight, no loud companions (though you did love his friends dearly,) and no mention of some big, life-changing mission that your poor heart couldn't take the anxiety of. But you turned your head away, burying it in your arms perched on your tucked-in knees. Sora smiled, a mixture of guilt and sadness permeating his face.
He describes the integrity of what he's been doing: saving the worlds, you know? You know, but, even still... Am I not your world? Sora is quick to agree. He tells you that you both knew your relationship would be strained by his reputation and his abilities, his connections and his value across the worlds. He tells you that he's going to start taking some time for himself, for you, for both of you: there are other Keyblade wielders now. He tells you that you don't need to forgive him immediately, that he doesn't expect you to simply ignore the awful way he's ignored you recently. You say you don't forgive him just yet. He says that's fine.
The sound of waves return to fill the silence before Sora speaks again.
"Whenever I fight the darkness, it helps to think of the lights that are closest to my heart to keep me going and to help me be strong. I don't think it's any surprise that thinking of you gives me the strength to be the best Keyblade wielder the worlds have ever known!"
He gives you a beaming smile that's filled with awe and pride. He's so proud to have you as a partner, someone he knows is understanding when his words make you want to embrace him on the dark beach of the most desolate place in all the worlds.
And, suddenly, the sound of waves is much more familiar. They remind you both of life back on Destiny Islands: bright sunlight, friends, fish, the ocean, and how, no matter what, your love continues to flow like water.

Abyssal is called to the Mario universe, and they know something is very, very wrong.
Lil Coding wasn't able to tell them what was wrong, all they knew was that the Code was absolutely inconsolable. He was hiccuping and sobbing, just pleading for the Admin to show up.
They show up, deciding not to bring anyone else. It had been them that was asked for, and they didn't exactly feel like it would he received well if they brought any other Admins.
They arrive to the showgrounds castle and push the doors open, frowning deeply. They walk in, seeing everyone in the foyer, and they feel the heart they don't have drop.
Everyone looks crestfallen, upset, heartbroken.
Abyssal makes their way over to SMG3, who lifts his head and gives a small wave of acknowledgment.
They glance to the couch, seeing Forum and Domain embracing. Their faces are hidden from view, with Forum's pressed against Domain's chest while Domain's head is hanging. But Abyssal can see them both shaking and trembling. Emulator is seated next to them, doing her best to console them.
"What's going on?" they ask softly.
"It's.. Juliano." SMG3 answers, voice uncharacteristically soft. Abyssal's face falls.
"What happened?" they ask again, but they feel as though they know the answer.
"He's just.. gone." the Guardian speaks, looking up at the Admin. "Dad and Forum can't find his code, his location, none of it. It's like he was just wiped off of the face of the damn earth."
Abyssal falls quiet at that. They pull up a command box and begin to scroll through. Attention in the room slowly turns to them, the light taps drawing everyone's attention.
They pull up the list of those with active Avatar code, and they scroll.
Mario
Kirby
Nimbus
Tulip
Tune Dark
Sora
Arle Nadja
Ash Ketchum
Shantae
Laharl
Barry
Lord Ramagog
Red
Frenzy the Chupacabra
Doppelganger Arle
Abyssal's hand lowers. Even with Juliano having somehow come back to life, with semi-functioning Avatar code, he still would've shown up.
They scroll to the deactivated list.
Fred
Spudnick
They stop.
Juliano
Their hand falls and the command box vanishes. Everyone is looking at them now. They glance towards Domain and Forum, seeing them looking with hopeful looks in their eyes.
Abyssal closes their eyes and shakes their head. "I'm sorry. He's no longer on the list of active Avatars."
The heart they don't have breaks as Forum wails and collapses against Domain. Domain says nothing, only wrapping his arms around his partner in a tight embrace.
"Should I take my leave?" Abyssal whispers to SMG3, who nods quietly. The Admin nods, and they exit, head lowered a bit.
Once outside the castle, they exhale softly. Now they were glad they hadn't brought any other Admins, because they knew one of them would have said something about how "they should've expected this" or "it was bound to happen, with how unstable his code was".
Admittedly, they probably would have, too, if not for the recent events they had been a part of the past month or so. But they knew better now.
They knew that Forum and Domain had just lost their best friend, their brother, again. And this time.. there was no bringing him back.
Abyssal pulls up the command box again, looking at the deactivated list. Their eyebrows raise a bit, seeing Juliano's name and icon briefly glitch before returning to normal.
They shake their head, closing it. They'd look into it back at the Adminspace.
After informing the other Admins, that is.
○●○
Cookie smiles as she closes the command box, watching the outside of the castle. She turns her head to look at the still trapped Juliano. "Wow! They are idiots! Just how badly did this universe activation go?"
Juliano only glares at her, gagged by webs.
"Ah well." she shrugs, approaching. "Once I find your little Guardians.. I'll finally be able to have him back!"
The former ringmaster shudders, knowing all too well who Cookie was referring to. Considering she was a familiar shade of green, wearing a ringmaster's assistant outfit, and was generally just a fucking nut job, Juliano knew she meant Byte.
He didn't know what she planned on doing, but he could only hope she didn't realize Domain and Forum were formerly SMG-1 and SMG-2.

“I shouldn’t have done that. Can you ever forgive me?” / for Sora
𝕰𝖒𝖊𝖗𝖆𝖑𝖉 𝖔𝖗𝖇𝖘 𝖌𝖑𝖆𝖓𝖈𝖊𝖉 𝖔𝖛𝖊𝖗 𝖆𝖙 𝖙𝖍𝖊 𝖘𝖎𝖑𝖛𝖊𝖗 𝖍𝖆𝖎𝖗𝖊𝖉 𝖒𝖆𝖑𝖊, 𝖎𝖙 𝖜𝖆𝖘 𝖈𝖑𝖊𝖆𝖗 𝖙𝖍𝖆𝖙 𝕽𝖎𝖐𝖚 𝖍𝖆𝖉 𝖆 𝖑𝖔𝖙 𝖔𝖓 𝖍𝖎𝖘 𝖒𝖎𝖓𝖉. 𝕿𝖍𝖊 𝖇𝖗𝖚𝖓𝖊𝖙𝖙𝖊 𝖈𝖔𝖚𝖑𝖉 𝖙𝖊𝖑𝖑 𝖜𝖎𝖙𝖍𝖔𝖚𝖙 𝖙𝖍𝖊 𝖔𝖙𝖍𝖊𝖗 𝖘𝖆𝖞𝖎𝖓𝖌 𝖆𝖓𝖞𝖙𝖍𝖎𝖓𝖌.There’s so much that’s happened over the years, and the two hadn’t gotten a chance to really have a heart-to-heart. Not like their duties as key blade wielders really allowed them to even have any kind of normalcy, which lead to being away from home quite often. Deep down, Sora knew even if he said that nothing had truly hurt him, that Riku would continue to place the blame on his shoulders alone. The younger boy’s hand reached over slowly, landing against the keyblade master's shoulder.
“Riku, I know you probably won’t believe me when I say this, but I never blamed you. Not once, maybe I was angry a few times at the start but, I was more hurt that things were driving us apart. For years, I tried my hardest to remain the happy boy that you all know. To try and be the support needed, but it seems I failed to reassure you that none of this is your fault. We were kids wishing to see other worlds. I had a feeling something had been bothering you for years, but I never found the words to ask, or, perhaps, I was afraid that Kairi was right. That you had changed. I know over time things will develop and it’s not always in our control, but I am your best friend. I should’ve seen the signs that you were hurting deep down. The pressure that everyone, including me put on your shoulders.”
Sora’s hand slowly dropped from Riku’s shoulder, turning to glance out at the sea. They hadn’t been home long after returning from Quadratum. There’s a lot that the younger boy had seen and been through, but he hasn’t spoken a word about it to anyone. It felt like it would only drag up things that the others wanted to move past. A burden the brunette wouldn’t wish to put on any of their hearts. Turning, he flashed Riku his trademark grin, attempting to reassure the other that he had nothing against them.
“Riku..I always believed in you. The only time I felt hurt was hearing you say those words years ago. Delivery boy. That single phrase lingered for a while, adding to how I already felt about myself. I’ve always been a dull, ordinary boy, but I’m okay with that. I wasn’t picked like you and Kairi were, but I am still proud to be a part of this. But I don't hold what you said against you because you were also in pain at the time. After thinking about it, perhaps it did feel like I had replaced you guys. I hated that I was so careless..the whole reason I started searching the worlds was for you both. I can’t tell you not to blame yourself for stuff, all I know is that I don’t. I never did or could. You’ve always had my back,Riku, I never felt afraid of you.” The fact the boy was willing to fall into darkness with the other should be sign enough how much he cares. Recalling that moment, all Sora could recall was not wanting to lose Riku. He could see how serious the other had been. Sure, the younger boy was worried about Kairi too, but the promise etched into his memory.
‘ So then if something happens, and Riku is about to get lost—or say, he starts wandering down a dark path alone—you make sure to stay with him and keep him safe. ‘ That night, he could see the darkness slowly started to consume his best friend. How afraid he was to lose one of the few people to actually care about him. Not many did, all they saw Sora as was some bother. Even his own uncle hated his guts, which was saying a lot when the boy was one of the kindest people. Didn’t mean Sora didn’t have his share of regrets and darkness, either. Anti-form and rage form were proof that even in the brightest people, they also held within them shadows. It did scare Sora, how easily his anger could take over. That over the years, the once happy boy started to resent the keyblade in some ways. He was honored to have it, but at the same time it felt like so much responsibility tossed at him.
Green eyes turned to look back at the ocean, watching as the waves crashed against the sandy shore. It was a lot to for them to get out, and maybe they would never truly have enough time to convey everything. These moments were enough, though, it didn’t matter what they did, as long as they were together. Kairi, Riku, and him had been separated for far too long. Fate truly could be cruel sometimes, which led the younger boy to believe that maybe he would be stuck doing this for the rest of his life. Helping others was fine, it was the exhaustion slowly creeping up with them, over time. Nothing seemed to be enough for the world; it just kept taking. How much longer until nothing remains?
Sora winced, his hand shaking slightly. It was clear that his time in the other world left a lasting effect on his body. The painful scar sending large waves of pain throughout his entire body. The agony, was a lot. It was taking so much for him to remain calm, not to show any sign on his face that things were causing him pain.
“Riku..you’ve been through a lot since this started. I know there are things you probably want to get off your chest. I promise that whatever you say, I won’t judge you. Ever. At this moment, we should try and take time to express things we’ve held within for years” The last thing Sora wanted was for the older boy to feel guilty about things that weren’t his fault. This whole thing started because of adults, yet here they were still trying to clean up the entire mess.
#You are my Oblivion and my Sunlight Dear Star(destiny-bound/Riku)#Breaking my heart just so others can smile(Sora)#one sky one destiny(Main Verse)#ooc: I am sorry for these feels..Sora cares about Riku and wants him know that he never held anything against him at all

every time someone tags my kirb as “just a little guy” or “a bean” or something like this I become more powerful :) (I even made a post on my personal blog when I first saw this tag that it means I Win At Art. there are many ways to win at art and I win often. drawing something that makes me laugh, drawing something my wife thinks is pretty, drawing something, drawing something that makes a stranger add a funny tag, etc. these are all Art Victories of equal value. I think this is a good way to think of creative hobbies.)

I think of the playable characters in birth by sleep, ventus would be their favorite. (both because kirby probably relates to him most and because his combat is most amenable to just mashing regular attack and dodge the whole time (which is mostly what I did lol)) out of all of kingdom hearts I do think they’d vibe with sora. my dirtboys.

A/N: For the Kingdom Hearts Halloween Zine! Twitches was my favourite Halloween movie as a child.
…
…
…
…
There were many, many exciting things Sora thought of when he considered October. The obvious—Halloween, pumpkins, candy, and spooky movies. The less obvious—the crunchy leaves, the bright colours, the warmth of his snuggly sweater. The most important—his birthday. All of these were just off the top of his head. If Sora needed to, he could come up with a hundred-page manifesto of why October was amazing. Except that sounded a lot like homework and he’d rather enjoy October than write about it.
Still, no matter how long that list was, the one thing that would never be on it was being cooped up inside the library studying. They weren’t even near a window, so Sora couldn’t even see the colourful trees. The only thing on the table in front of him were books and a mountain of lined paper. Grumpy, Sora rested his chin on his hands and stared across the table at his best friend, Riku. “Come on,” he whined, sticking out his bottom lip to make his pout even sadder. “Let’s do something fun.”
The stick-in-the-mud that he was, Riku completely ignored him, instead flipping through his notes like Sora hadn’t said a word. Of course he’d do that. The guy didn’t know the meaning of fun. Even his hair was white, devoid of any colour.
Sora was adaptable. If one best friend couldn’t answer the call, the other would. Turning to his right, Sora gave his biggest puppy eyes to Kairi. He should have done this from the start—she was his usual partner-in-crime, after all. “You’re bored too, right, Kairi?”
And while every other time she slacked off with him immediately, this time she sadly shook her head. “Sorry, Sora.” She groaned, burying her head in her hands. “I’m seriously going to fail calculus. And Mom said if I get anything less than a 60 in the midterms, she was going to take back my car.”
“And that’s why you’re studying now, so you don’t fail,” Riku finally responded, looking up. He gave her a sympathetic nod. “I’ll help.”
“Thanks.” She smiled at him gratefully. “I can’t believe I’m so bad at this. I was great at math in high school. How is this,” she gestured at the textbook in front of her, “so much harder?”
“It’s university.” Sora shrugged, idly picking up his notes and flipping through them. They were mostly doodles and thus utterly useless. He’d have to steal Riku’s later. “Isn’t it supposed to be harder?”
“And aren’t you supposed to study more?” Riku retorted, his tone disdainful. He plucked one of Sora’s notes before he could react, rolling his eyes as he saw the stick figures. “Seriously, Sora, you’re going to fail if you don’t study.”
“I study enough,” Sora argued, crossing his arms. They’d had this same argument since high school. He was certain they’d have this same argument when he was 80, though he wasn’t sure what for. Sora would be ‘too lazy’ and Riku would be ‘perfect’ and one of these days, Sora would actually win the argument. Maybe that would also happen when he was 80. “We’ve been studying all day, we can take a little break.”
“The test is in two days.” Riku looked at him incredulously. Reaching forward, he tapped on the book in front of Sora. “You haven’t made it past the first chapter.”
“It’s a hard chapter!” Sora defended himself, yanking the book out of reach. “And I haven’t been sleeping well, so you know, it’s hard to focus.”
“You haven’t?” Concerned, Kairi leaned closer and inspected his face. Whistling softly, she frowned and squeezed his shoulder. “You have raccoon eyes! What’s wrong?”
“He’s been playing video games again,” Riku snarked immediately, but despite his tone, he was also watching Sora.
“It wasn’t that!” Sora growled. “I had this really weird dream…” He bit his lip, trying to put together the scattered images he’d seen in his sleep. “There was this tall, white castle filled with these white, uh, noodly monsters. And this boy—he kinda looked like me, you know, but also not really. Like, his hair was blonde, and he was sitting on this throne fast asleep.”
“A dream,” Riku stated slowly, giving him a long look. “You’re crying over a nightmare.”
“I’m not crying and it wasn’t just a dream,” Sora mumbled lamely, feeling foolish even as he said that. In the light of day, the dream felt far away. “It was like I was actually there.”
“Vivid dreams are kinda scary,” Kairi agreed, taking his hand gently. She pressed the pads of her fingers against his skin, massaging his palm. “I thought I took the test already and when I woke up, it took me a while to figure out where I was.”
“Want me to hold your hand tonight, Sora?” Riku smirked, condescension dripping in his tone. “Or do you need a nightlight?”
“I’m not a kid!” Sora grumbled, wanting nothing more than to sink into his chair. Maybe it had been only a dream, after all. Sure, it had felt real at the time—the sound of his steps in the white castle, the way the monsters invaded the castle. There had been two other boys there with him, two boys that looked identical, but he could never see their eyes. One was always asleep and the other—every time Sora turned to look at him, he woke up.
But it had only been a dream. He should never have told Riku; he had never let go of anything in his life. Sora would hear about this until they were 80 too.
Maybe he should think about getting a new best friend.
Sensing his glumness, Kairi suggested brightly, “Hey, why don’t we get some snacks? We have been working a long time. A little cake and coffee wouldn’t hurt anyone.”
“Didn’t you get a cavity recently?” Riku pointed out, raising a brow. “And you want cake?”
“It goes well with coffee.” She smiled disarmingly, and Sora felt a pang of envy. Kairi was so good at convincing Riku to agree; he could only do it when they argued. Well, that was why they worked together, but he wanted to get better at tricking him.
“And I’m hungry,” Sora added, moaning softly as he rubbed his belly. “Brains need sugar, right?”
“Is that the only thing you picked up from biology? And you’re always hungry, idiot.” Riku rolled his eyes, not convinced. He also wasn’t saying no either, so it would only take one more push.
“I’ll grab the cake, Sora gets the coffee, and you can guard the books.” Kairi patted the table. “And we’ll be back in like, twenty minutes, and then we can study.”
Riku snorted, shooting them a look of disbelief. “You’re just going to goof off.”
“I never goof off.” Sora clutched his chest dramatically, mortally wounded. “You just don’t know what fun is.”
Before Riku could argue, Kairi batted her eyes and smiled innocently. “I said no to Sora earlier, remember. We won’t go anywhere else, just there and back.”
“Please,” Sora pleaded and they both gave him identical puppy eyes.
Riku frowned. Brow furrowed and utterly doubtful, he looked from one to the other before sighing. “Fine. Fifteen minutes.”
“Perfect!” Kairi hooked an arm through Sora’s. “We’ll be back soon.”
And then she promptly dragged Sora out of the library. Sensing some sort of scheme, he kept quiet until they were safely away from prying eyes. “So?”
“So we get coffee and cake.” Kairi let go and shrugged. “You go to Starbucks, I’ll go to that cute bakery I’ve been dying to try.”
Sora stared at her, not buying it. “Starbucks?”
“Yes, the one that’s at the corner of Twilight and Destiny.” Kairi smiled angelically.
He wasn’t fooled in the least. “There’s a closer one.”
“Yes but…” she trailed off purposely, leaning forward. When he obliged and leaned closer to her, she whispered, “There’s a guy there that looks just like you. It’s really freaky.”
“Seriously?” Sora gaped, unable to imagine it. A guy who looked just like him—for a moment, he remembered his dreams, that aching familiarity of it all, but that was silly. It had only been a dream. “Why didn’t we go earlier?”
“Because it took me forever to figure out his shift! I only bumped into him randomly, when you weren’t there.” Kairi shrugged. “You’re bored anyways, right? I’m doing you a favour, really.”
Somehow, he doubted that.

A white castle stood, surrounded by darkness. No, not darkness—from the parapets, Roxas could see tiny pricks of light against the black. It was a mass of shadow monsters, of Heartless, and they threatened to overrun the castle gates at any moment.
“We have to go!”
Someone grabbed his hand. In the gloom, Roxas could barely make out the stranger’s brown hair. He knew this person. There was an aching familiarity to it all.
“We have to save Ventus.”
He didn’t know that name. He did know that name. Somehow, both facts were true at the same time. An image flashed across his mind, of a white throne and a boy identical to him sitting on it. The boy was asleep, surrounded by a mass of white monsters.
“We have to—”
Roxas stared at the ceiling. At a bare minimum, he’d hoped to wake up less tired than yesterday, but that was asking for the impossible, apparently. No, instead he had to have yet another strange dream. He held up his hand, staring at it. It was strange; it had felt so real. Even now, he could feel that other person’s hand in his own.
Yet, it had only been a dream.
“Roxas! You’re going to be late!” Aqua yelled. The scent of burnt toast wafted into his room, even though the kitchen was on the opposite side of the house. How she managed to do that every morning, he didn’t know.
“What time is it?” he groaned, rolling over. He stared at his wall, covered end-to-end with his drawings. He’d sketched the castle and Ventus so many times, but he could never find the real-life place that must have inspired the dreams.
“Nine,” Aqua shouted back. “Do you ever set an alarm?”
“I turn it—” Roxas froze. Nine. He only had an hour to get to work. Scrambling out of bed, he ran to the bathroom. “Why didn’t you say anything earlier?”
He was skating on thin ice as it was with his manager. If he was late yet another day—he shuddered to think about it. It was hard enough paying for college on his own; his part-time job just barely helped them make ends meet. While his friend Namine shared a shift with him today, she was a terrible liar and any cover story she gave would be torn apart in minutes.
Jumping down the stairs, he dashed into the kitchen. There, his adoptive sister was calmly sitting at the table, munching on black toast as she watched him. Slyly, she reached out and ruffled his hair. “You’re a mess.”
“Hey!” He swatted her hand away and stepped back. Glaring at her, he smoothened his hair. “You know how long that took!”
“Maybe you should wake up earlier?” Aqua took another bite and gestured at the second plate she’d set up for him. It was relieving to see that it didn’t look half as charcoaled as hers. “Like, if you actually went to sleep at night, you’d wake up with your alarm.”
“I know, I know, it’s just…” Roxas rubbed his arm, not sure how to explain it. There was just this energy in him at night, something that felt almost magical. There was a reason he’d always done his homework and art in the middle of the night but saying it as an adult felt silly. “I’m just…more awake at night.”
“That’s because your sleep cycle is ruined.” Aqua frowned, noticing his eyes. “Did you have another one of those nightmares?”
“Yeah. It’s the same as last time.” Roxas shrugged, not wanting to get into it. It wasn’t like talking about it could change things.
“You’ve been having it for years, maybe we should get someone to look into it.” Aqua sighed, reaching over to squeeze his shoulder affectionately. “But we’ll talk about that later—you’re running late.”
Roxas swore.

Sora stood in front of the Starbucks counter, staring at the cashier. He smiled back awkwardly. “What would you like to order?”
First point, Sora was never that nervous or awkward around anyone. So it couldn’t be personality that made Kairi say they looked the same. It couldn’t be looks either—the cashier was blonde and Sora was a brunette. Did Kairi become colour-blind when he wasn’t looking? Their eyes were kinda similar, maybe, but that’s just because they were both blue.
“Um, are you going to order?” the cashier asked again, looking extremely uncomfortable.
Well, at least no one else was in the store to complain if he didn’t. Sora glanced at his name tag. Roxas. That didn’t even sound like his name! All they had were some of the same letters. “Is there another cashier?”
Roxas’s brow furrowed for a moment before he gave a carefully blank expression. “Namine isn’t on right now, but she’s not interested—”
“Whoa!” Sora held up his hands immediately and shook his head. “I w-w-wasn’t asking for a date.” Ok, maybe he did get nervous sometimes. Clearing his throat, he clarified, “I mean, do you have a cashier that looks like me?”
Roxas looked even more confused, if possible, and he slowly shook his head. “No.”
“And you’re the only one working now?”
“Yes.” Now Roxas was looking at him as if he’d grown two heads and Sora couldn’t blame him. Honestly, this all sounded really crazy. “Are you going to order?”
Sora sighed. Kairi must have pranked him. When he got back, it was revenge time. “Can I get—”
What happened next could only be described as magic. Above the counter, a glowing circle appeared, looking like a sci-fi hologram. The wind picked up—they were inside a building, how could wind pick up?—and napkins and paper cups swirled around them. It was like standing in the eye of a storm.
Suddenly, two figures fell out of the circle, crashing on the counter hard. And just like that, it was over. The Starbucks goods fell to the ground. The wind stopped. The two strangers stayed.
“WHA—?” he yelped, stumbling backwards.
“Gosh, Donald, do you think we got to the right place?” One of the prone figures slowly got up, looking around.
“Of course we did, I’m never wrong,” the other snapped back, rubbing his head after rolling off the counter.
Sora rubbed his eyes. It didn’t change anything. In front of him stood a giant, humanoid dog and a short, angry duck. They spoke English. He glanced at Roxas, who looked as dumbfounded as he did. “Do you see…” he trailed off, gesturing at the creatures.
Roxas pinched his cheek before nodding. “Yeah.”
Standing now, the fully clothed dog-man pounced on Sora before he could react. “Gosh, Sora, you’re so big now!” He turned to Roxas and started to sniffle. “You too, Roxas.”
“Of course they’re big, it’s been years!” the duck angrily quacked. He was only wearing a shirt. Did that make him half-naked? Sora wasn’t sure if he wanted to follow that thought. “And quit crying, we don’t have time for that.”
“We always have time for hugs, Donald,” the dog argued, letting go of Sora and chasing after Roxas. For something that big and clumsy looking, he was surprisingly fast and almost fell on Roxas in his attempt to hug him.
“No, we don’t!” Angry, Donald the duck marched over to Sora and grabbed his hand. Donald had hands. Not wings, hands.
Sora wondered if he’d just fallen asleep at the library and the last fifteen minutes were a dream.
Still embracing Roxas tightly, the dog waddled toward them. “We do! Times infinity!”
“Goofy, I am going to—” Donald took a deep breath and shook his head. “No more distractions! We need to get to Castle Oblivion.”
“Castle Oblivion?” Sora shook himself out of his stupor. Why did that sound so familiar? The image of a white castle flashed before his eyes. His dream. His recurring, realistic dream.
“Your home! Ventus is waiting for you guys!” Goofy chimed in, letting go of Roxas. Unintentionally, the four of them now stood in a circle now.
“Ventus?” Roxas repeated, looking utterly shocked. “But…that’s a dream?”
“A dream?” It couldn’t be, could it?
“You can’t have forgotten Ventus.” Goofy looked despondent as he grabbed Roxas’s and Sora’s hands. “You’re triplets, you can’t forget family.”
“TRIPLETS?” Sora and Roxas shouted at the same time.
Before they could get any answers, another white circle appeared above them. The wind picked up. The last thought that Sora had before he disappeared was Riku’s going to kill me.

wait can u talk abt the sorakasa event!!!! it looks so good :0
yeah :0 (<- planned the whole thing in 30 min so it is incomprehensible)
(for context it is a valentines day event: the name of sora's 5* card is "cupid's golden arrow" ans tsukasa's is "cupid's rose-gold quiver." sena and natsume are 4*)
it's a week before valentine's day and switch is planning a fun live show until there's suddenly a huge fight/misunderstanding between tsumugi and natsume (oh my god natsumugi breakup arc..... /j), leaving tensions high and rather unworkable (natsume's unbloomed). sora, worried about his senpai and shisou, decides he can plan the live himself in order to take the stress off of them (because he wants them to be happy!)
meanwhile, izumi is criticizing tsukasa for not putting "his whole heart" into a new knights song (about love) for valentine's day (izumi's unbloomed), and tsukasa says this is because he "doesn't understand the lyrics," so arashi suggests that he could take a break and try to figure it out for himself. bitterly, tsukasa leaves as arashi suggested, complaining to himself that izumi never seems happy with him.
tsukasa hears sora out and about ensemble square ("that's a familiar voice..." / "hahihuheho!" / ".... harukawa-kun."), and follows the sound of his voice until he finds sora playing with dolls and he asks why he's sitting in the middle of the floor (it's not gentlemanly or proper or safe >:() and sora tells him that he was planning a live show, but he got distracted. tsukasa, rather annoyed, directs sora to talk to tsumugi and natsume, rather than tackle the whole thing alone, and sora ropes him into coming with him.
the two find natsume and tsumugi fighting ("... because you dont trUST me to handLE decisions even though i'M the leaDER?" / "i'm not saying that at all, natsume-kun!" / "you impliED it!"), and tsukasa awkwardly interrupts and asks what they're fighting about. they both look at each other, then at sora, and avoid answering the question. sora asks the same question himself, and they both reply that it doesn't involve him. sora says, "of course this involves sora because it involves switch! shisou and senpai have to feel better so we can put on a happy show... sora wants you to make up... so we can all smile and have a happy show together!" and natsume angrily tells him "it doesN'T always work that waY." (this is sora's first cutscene)
sora, deeply upset, runs out of the room in tears (not because he's being immature but because he's overwhelmed and unsure what to do), and tsukasa follows, tsumugi and natsume call after him too. it starts to rain, but they can't seem to find sora anywhere in the building, so tsukasa decides to check outside. he finds sora looking at the rainclouds, and he asks what's wrong. sora replies that, "grey skies are the ugliest color... sora hates when people are all stormy and grey. sora really loves switch because they are family! he doesn't want them to fight." tsukasa, although at first confused by the color analogy, tries to comfort him, saying that "sometimes even magicians and knights can't protect everyone's happiness... and we just have to do what we can, but sometimes, we have to let people resolve the issues for themselves. we can't make people get along." (tsukasa's unbloomed cutscene) sora thinks about this for a moment (tsukasa sits there thinking "that was so stupid he's not going to listen to me..." and sora finally says "tsuka-chan is smart... so i'll trust you!" in an attempt to reassure himself and tsukasa), then agrees to go back inside before he and tsukasa both catch a cold from the rain.
when they go back in, natsume and tsumugi worriedly check in on sora and promise that they'll put their differences aside as long as sora doesn't run away again (he says okay :D) and they agree to work together to plan the live show (they're going to supply ideas, but let sora be in charge for the most part), inviting tsukasa to bring knights, since he helped make the show happen (he agrees hesitantly). as he leaves, he thinks about how much sora cares about the show and his unitmates, not just the unit itself, and how he wishes he were more like him. "switch is not just a name... it's... a family...?"
tsukasa gets back with the rest of knights and tells them that he's ready to get back to work and that they have a live to do. izumi asks what finally "fixed his attitude," and he says he "can't quite explain it." izumi scoffs, but he remarks that tsukasa seems more in touch with the song.
at the live, sora greets tsukasa excitedly and asks him to please watch his performance because he wants to bring out tsukasa's "nicest color!" before natsume calls him to get ready (natsume's bloomed) at the beginning of the performance, sora thinks "shisou... senpai... tsuka-chan... are you all smiling now?" (sora's bloomed cutscene)
after switch performs, sora asks how he did, amd tsukasa just smiles politely and says he did a good job before his own unitmates tell him its almost time to start. as he steps out onto the stage, he beams as he hears the applause and the joy of the audience. the stage lights refract off of the unit members in front of him (izumi's bloomed card cutscene) into a soft assortment of colors. tsukasa thinks "harukawa-kun... is this the color you see the world in?" (tsukasa's second cutscene) sora is watching with a smile and tells natsume and tsumugi that this is tsuka-chan's best color. the story ends here wahoo

Mini Fanfic #1084: Training Day (Kingdom Hearts)
1:20 p.m. Outside of the Land of Departure: Training Field........
NAMINE......ANGELIC.....SMASH!
'SMASH'
With one, fairly powerful punch from Namine of all people, a stand-in punching bag is seen getting forcefully pushed all the way to the other side of the field l before falling down to the ground as smoke is coming out of the imprinted fist mark she left begin, much to boys' surprise (and mostly dread in Ventus' case).
Chihirty: Amazing..... (Turns to Namine) The force of your punches are getting more stronger by the minute.
Namine: (Has Her Hands on her Knees Before Swiping the Sweat Off With her Arm) ('Whew') And it shows....(Holds her Fist Up as She Place her Hand on Top of her Arm Muscle With a Proud Smile on her Face) Which means my training with Ms. Lockhart is starting to pay off at last!~
Chirithy: You wanna give it another go? I'm liking the name of the punch you gave so far.
Namine: (Smiles Brightly) Thank you so much, ChiChi. And yeah, let's go!~
Ventus: (Eyes Widened as He Watches Namine and Chihirty in the Distance While Sitting Next to Vantias Under a Shade) This is insane......
Vantias: Insane how Namine's strong enough send anything flying or the name of her attack sounds almost as Intimidating as "Final Heaven"?
Ventus: (Turns to Vantias With a Panicked Look on his Face) Yes, on both fronts! Like, I know that she determined to be as strong as her teacher and I'm really proud of her for coming this far with her combat training, but I didn't think she would get THIS powerful! And I STILL don't know how that Final Heaven move of hers works to begin with! Like, does it really take a lot energy and willpower to pull the move off or does she uses both of her fists as ticking time bombs whenever she's in battle?
Vantias: Hey, your guess is as mines. All I know that I am passing up any offer sparring against Little Miss Angel Girl over there.
Ventus: Why? (Gives Vantias a Sly Smirk on his Face) You scared she's gonna sucker punch you again like last time?
Flashback
Years ago after the war between light and darkness has reached it conclusion, Vantias, who somehow revived as well at the time, tries to infiltrate the Land of Departure before getting caught red handed by Sora and the gang (minus Riku, Isa, Aqua, and Terra) shortly after.
He was able to take them all on effortlessly, thanks to his sneaky use of the little power darkness he has at the time and a few capoeira tricks he learned from a street performer he saw the night before.
It wasn't long until he stumbled upon Namine who panicked and screamed out the word "STOP IT YOU JERRRRRRRRK!" as she sucker punched Vantias straight into the jaw hard enough to send him flying from across the room, leaving him unconscious until the crew ties him up and interrogate him.
It was at this moment that Vantias decided to never cross Namine again....as well as finding ways to avoid sparring with her at all cost.
End of Flashback
Vantias: ('Scoffs') As if. I just don't think it'll be a fair match up is all.
Ventus: For you or her? Cuz something tells me that it might definitely be the former.
Vantias: Yeah, well, whatever told you that clearly doesn't know jack shit about how fair match-up works. (Starts Smirking Back at Ventus) Unless you wanna step in the sparring ring yourself.
Ventus: (Glares at Vantias) And get sent flying off to the distance? No way!
Vantias: Oh don't be such a wuss. You could dodge her punches easily if you actually put that feet of yours to good use.
Ventus: I can say the same for you too, emo boy. Or did your break dancing routine is starting to lose steam.
Vantias: Okay, first off, I do capoeira, there's a different I think. And second, just because I'm making a cautious move in not fighting her, that doesn't automatically make me weak. Especially when I can kick your ass just fine.
Ventus: (Immediately Gets Up From Where He Was Sitting) Get real! Have you forgotten our fight at the Keyblade Graveyard!?
Vantias: (Rolls his Eyes) Oh yeah. How could I ever forget the time you pulled a cheap shot at the Near end of the battle?
Ventus: Cheap sho- I beaten you fair and square! If anything, YOU'RE the one who keep relying on your dark power to give you the edge on almost every fight you got yourself into!
Vantias: And that's a problem because.......
Ventus: What do you think!? That, in of itself, is cheating!
Vantias: Subjectively speaking.
Ventus: THAT'S NOT EVEN- (Takes a Deep Breath Before Speaking) You know what? Forget it. You can use darkness, capoeira or whatever you call it, all you want. (Crosses his Arms and Turns Away) Just know that I've beaten you once and I'll be more than happy to do it again!
Vantias: (Slowly Starts Getting Up in Front of Ventus) Is that a challenge request I'm hearing right now?
Ventus: Maybe. And I won't opposed if you accept either. (Turns Back to Vantias) Just don't be too surprised if you end up put to sleep on the ground, cheater.
Vantias: (Puts on a Competitive yet Malicious Grin on his Face as He Summons his Keyblade) I like to see you try and land a hit on me, airbag....
Ventus: (Summons his Keyblade as Well) Glady......
Meanwhile.......
Chirithy: (Helps Namine Takes the Punching Bag Back to It's Original Spot) So how exactly did you came up with the name for that move of yours in the first place?
Namine: Oh it's simple really. One night, when I was in the middle of drawing a fee sketches, I-
Two vicious battle cries simultaneously rings into Namine and Chihirty's eardrums as the two set their attention on Ventus and Vantias fighting one another using their Keyblades in the far distance.
Chirithy: Well, would you look at that? And here I thought those two lazy bones were never gonna train today.
Namine: They look so determined to out best one another. (Places her Hands on Both of her Cheeks While Letting Out a Gasps) Has my hard work managed to inspired them to train themselves?~
Chirithy: Preeeeeetty sure they were arguing again as usual..... (Starts Pouting) I bet it was Van-Van who started it!
Namine: ('Sigh') I'll have a talk with those two later.....(Turns to Chihirty Woth a Determined Smile on her Face) In the meantime, let's resume back to training ourselves. There's so many new techniques I can't wait to try out!~
Chirithy: (Sighs While Shrugging) If you say so.....
