AoNoSummer2023 Day 21 - Mask 👺
Rin recalls a memory from a few years back, a innocent naive memory of a different time. A simpler, more naive time…
A scene, inspired by the concept of Demon King!Rin based on the mask he wears.
Warning, contains slight spoilers to chapter 140!

It seems like everything has changed
Rin senses mepphy’s return? Or maybe Yukio/shiemi’s ? Either way the boy is off somewhere in a hurry, he just left on a fucking dragon

Malchidael Theory
New chapter was great as always, and was nuts too. But there's some interesting stuff I noticed about the newest character. Major spoilers for the newest chapter, so heads up.
The first thing I noticed besides the obvious magical girl call outs (especially the shades of Sailor moon, Madoka magica, and Cardcaptor Sakura are strong with this) was her name.
Malchidael.
It's a eye catching name given current events. When looking it up I found out it belonged to the angel of Aries. Which fits given she seems to be representing the Aries part of The Leigon, what ever that is here in aoex land.
What's interesting is that Rin seems to have come here specifically looking for her, and only her. He's not interested in anything else. Just her, and immediately gets into a fight with her, and it ends with her death pretty quick.
Rin even calls the goblins back, and leaves before reinforcements can show up. She's the only person he kills. He doesn't even touch the other exorcists hanging around when he probably could have taken care of them easily. He just fights Malchidael, kills her, then leaves.
It's a bit odd to be considering the set up. Same time it makes this character interesting. She's able to go toe to toe with Rin before he gets the advantage. She even begs him to not kill the "others". There's something off about her and the situation that makes me suspect that she might not even be human.
Any other time humans are introduced they have a last name. Even Angel was presented with one, and so was Lightening. The only time a character is introduced with one name only it's a demon.
It's also been established that angels and demons are the same creatures in this universe. So it makes me curious about who or what this girl really is. And what exactly Rin is up too with things as they are.

Where hope dwells in time
His steps slow to a stop when he catches a glimpse of the inside of the concert hall.
It’s bright, filled with orange, mellow hues of wood. An organ’s gleaming pipes span the back wall above the stage where rows of musicians have begun to find their seats. The interior is old but elegant. He can hear the resonant cacophony of melodies overlap every time the back door opens.
The carpet in the front hallway is softer than the one in the back. His dress shoes sink with every step.
“Hey.” A sharp, pointy elbow prods him in the back. “Stop gaping. You look like a peasant.”
Yukio’s eyelid twitches when Shura saunters past him. “I wasn’t gaping.”
“Sure,” Shura drawls. “Well, just pass out your programs and look pretty.”
Yukio adjusts the sling on his arm before he follows after her. Shura’s footsteps are swift, and her heels leave fading marks in the plush carpet. Flowing, deep crimson folds of her dress curl around her ankles as she begins to climb the marble stairs to the entrance of the concert hall.
The building’s air is chilled, and it smells rather like a library. He can still see the dregs of summer dusk through the window they pass.
“I hadn’t realized it looked like this inside,” Yukio admits. “I walked past it nearly every day in middle school.” “Yeah. It survived the attack years ago.” Shura rolls her shoulders into a lazy shrug. “One thing is for sure. The old Order would never have bothered with this sort of thing.”
“But I’m glad we’re able to help now.” Yukio passes her half of the stack of programs, smiling as an elderly couple heads inside the concert hall to take their seats.
Shura gives a family of three programs and helps point them toward their seats. Most of the audience is well dressed in a myriad of colors. As the hall fills gradually, the lights are dimmed.
Just as they’re about to head inside to sit down, he feels his phone vibrate in his pocket. Rin is calling him.
“Wait, where are you going? It’s about to start,” Shura hisses.
“I know. I’ll be back in a minute.” Yukio tucks his remaining stack of programs under his arm as he steps away behind the stairs. “Nii-san? Did you finish your mission?”
“Yeah. Hey, are you almost done with your charity thing?” Rin asks. His voice is slightly breathless, and the murmur of traffic noises leaks through from his end at erratic moments. “Can you come back?”
Yukio glances back toward the concert hall full of orange light. His assignment as an usher is complete, but he’d been looking forward to watching the concert. More importantly, it’d be impolite to leave without thanking the donors.
“I need your help,” Rin says, drawing him from his thoughts with abrupt haste.
“With what?” Summer wind ruffles through Yukio’s hair as he nudges the door open with his shoulder. “Where are you?”
“I just have to look for… I don’t know,” Rin mumbles. “I’m at your place.”
“Do you need it right—”
He frowns as Rin hangs up. Just what is he in such a rush about to find at Yukio’s apartment of all places? It’s been nearly two months since he’s been back in Tokyo.

i personally dont think the rin demon king timeline will become real bc it seems like it was due to some weird space time shenanigans that even mephisto couldnt really see coming. i feel like theyre gonna hit us with another weird time rupture thing and show us either another weird future or past or something in the next chapter.
which is why i propose a kyoto exorcist trio idol boy group chapter where konekomaru is the ace member. and izumo is a popular soloist who keeps getting more famous the more she insults her fans

SPOILERS for chapter 140 of blue exorcist!!!
.
The sky above Liu Chenglong is blinding white.
His lungs hurt, perhaps even more so than his head. Every breath is agony, like someone ripped his chest out and replaced it with a stranger's ribcage — everything feels wrong, like the world got ripped apart by someone who didn't quite know how to put it back together again.
There's an emptiness creeping up to him, the foreboding of loss he can't fully grasp, but it hasn't fully reached him yet. The sensation of the ground he's lying on is slowly seeping through his clothes; and even though he is aware of his limbs, he feels strangely detached from them.
He has to get up. He knows that. This can't be the end, there has to be another wave, there has to be more — there is more, somewhere beyond his reach, another time, another curve fate might have taken. If he closes his eyes, he might be able to feel it, but this is not the time to think about that sort of thing.
It's time to move.
Get up, he thinks. Get up and help the others.
Do something.
Yukio is out there.
The thought sends a bolt of energy through his body. He pushes himself up, ignoring the nausea bubbling up. His body is on fire but he refuses to break down.
Sometimes, the world presents itself to him as a stormy night that he has to navigate. Endless, confusing possibilities are swirling around him and threaten to pull him under, but they can be easily disregarded because there is a lighthouse on the horizon. Across the endless landscape, he makes out several bodies on the ground.
Yukio. Motionless. Eyes facing the sky.
No, he thinks. Not like this.
There is a universe where it ends like this. There is a universe where it doesn't.
Please be the right one.

So I'm going off purely cliff notes here and a weird state in which my melatonin didn't make me sleepy and I'm just dizzy (anyone else?? No? Just me? Cooool). . But. . And I'm sorry if someone has already said this somewhere, I'm starting to think Meph being stuck in the Satan void is no accident. . "Gee, Cap, way to point out the obvious!", I hear you say, but I will not have it! Simply because I'm awash in beautiful sugar plum visions of Satan being so fucking stupid and beside himself that his only choice in keeping his future seeing second born from envisioning anything is voreing him XD. . Satan knew full well how much us humans (love him or hate him - usually the later lol) rely on Meph and would surely run to him for help - Hell even Rin said over Satan's fracturing corpse, "Mephisto will fix this! ╮(. ❛ ᴗ ❛.)╭" (paraphrasing cuz I have bad memory). . . Sooo I propose, what if Satan put peeps he knew would be an issue in stasis? Maybe the max he could hold them was 2 years?? (*Cough* Skill Issue™) or rather he thinks he's got enough power to just win it all at this point???. . Idk. . So yeeeah anyways, another crackpot theory and as always feel free to correct me or add shit lmao (^~^;)ゞ
