” i’ve seen you wear that ring forever azriel, what does it mean? ”
” it’s my wedding ring ”
and her jaw drops bc she didn’t know he even had a lover.
” who is she? do i know her? what is she like? ”
he smiles faintly and says
” her name is y/n, she’s my mate and wife and she isn’t a warrior like us, she works at a library downtown. you don’t know her, only rhys and cassian do. we have a house in the outskirts in velaris. she is very sweet and i love her more than anything, our daughter is- ”
” YOU HAVE A DAUGHTER ????? ”
he nods and tells them all about her, he asks if feyre wants to meet reader and their daughter and feyre smiles and nods. Warnings - none
A/n - I played with this for a while, rewrote it several times, and then made something that met in the middle of what came to mind, but still stuck with the request. Hopefully, you love it, dear 💜
Feyre had been in Velaris for 5 years. 5 long years and she had yet to figure out why Azriel kept a simple black band on his left ring finger at all times.
The two of them were on the couch, Rhys across from them, as they looked over maps of a few of the Illyrian Camps that had been recently renovated. The new cabins, mess halls, and dorms were a huge success, and figuring out the same layout for the remaining few was a huge topic of interest for the three smaller camps.
She glanced at the ring one more time before tapping it. Rhys and Azriel both looked at her, brows raised. "So, not magic," she muttered to herself. She tried spell cleaving it, "And not a ward or shield."
Azriel blinked at her, brows knit in silent question. Rhys had his hand over his mouth, hiding his amusement. Leave it to his wife to provide entertainment without knowing it was needed. "I-" she sighed. "You wear this ring all the time. I'm trying to figure out why."
Both of the males chuckled. "Probably the same reason you wear your wedding ring, Feyre Darling."
The High Lady made face, tapping the ring again. "Don't be ridiculous, Rhys. I would know if Azriel was married."
"Evidently not, my love."
Feyre and Azriel held eye contact, the male then going back to the maps. "Since I have extensive time in Steppes Peak, I think it would be easiest to move the mess hall here, at the base of the mountain, maintain the warroom in the carved out cave, and build better dorms here," he pointed to an empty part of the map.
Rhys nodded, drawing it out on the empty map he had. "I'm sure y/n will agree with whatever you say."
"Okay, stop." Feyre crossed her arms, pouting slightly at the two of them. "Azriel isn't married, and making up some name to make me feel stupid isn't kind."
Azriel sighed. He leaned back while dropping the scent ward he kept on himself at all times. He watched as her face fell. He knew his scent, chilled air and cedar, was the predominant one in the mateship, but now a soft floral scent, something like lavender and warm honey clung there softly.
"I've been married for longer than you have been alive, Fey." Azriel patted her hand. "I have a daughter older than you and another younger than Nyx."
He watched as her face fell, a small amount of hurt flashing across it. "Why didn't you tell me?" She paused, looking at the sleeping heir in his craddle. "We could be having play dates. I could have a friend who understands."
Guilt settled into his face as he pulled her into him. "I torture people for living, sweet sister. I execute people on your orders. I imprison people with a flick of your wrist." He tilted Feyre's head up. "Y/n has no combat training and refused to learn. She likes to sit at home writing poetry, baking, and cuddling our children. I do not bring her around or introduce them to anyone to keep them safe." His face held the ghost of a rare smile. "I think I've brought her to meet Rhys and Cassian once."
Rhys nodded. "I've met her once here and several times behind your back in town. Especially after my first niece was born."
Feyre kept her gaze on Nyx. "He could have a friend," her voice was distant.
Azriel stood, placing a kiss on her forehead as he did. "I'll be right back." Rhysand's smile grew wide. Folding the maps and putting them away. He moved to the liquor cabinet, bringing down one of his more expensive wines.
Azriel reappeared with you and both daughters in tow. Your oldest ran to Rhys, jumping on him and holding him tightly, her wings fluttering with joy as she did. "Hello, Amara," he nuzzled into her hair. "Missed you so much, baby girl. Cassian is on his way."
He walked with her in his arms to the table, setting the wine down and then carried her over to Feyre. "Would you like to meet your aunt?" She allowed Rhys to set her down and turned toward Feyre.
There was little question she was Azriel's. She was the beautiful artists dreamed of painting. Soft classic features framed with inky black hair that fell in gorgeous curls. "Feyre, this is our niece Amara. She's 56. She was my favorite suprise when I got home from the mountain."
She smiled shyly, keeping close to Rhysand. "Hi."
"Hi," Feyre didn't know what came over her, pulling the Illyrian female close to her and holding her. "I'm so excited to meet you."
Amara wrapped her arms around Feyre, returning the gesture. "Me too. Mom and I have been BEGGING dad for a while. But you know how the bats are."
The door slammed open, rushed loud footsteps and a panting filling the hall. "Where's my baby?!"
Amara pulled away from Feyre, smiling softly before moving away from all of them. She was rushed by Cassian, lifted up into his arms as he spun her.
Feyre looked to her side, noticing Azriel next to her, holding a swaddled bundle. "This is Iris. She's a month younger than Nyx." Azriel wouldn't look away from his daughter and her peaceful sleeping face. "I fear the day she loses her chipmunk cheeks."
Feyre looked around the room, trying to find the reason this was happening and felt her heart shift when she saw you, arm wrapped around Rhysand's bicep, looking at Nyx.
You were wingless, long dark hair braided back. Soft leggings and a sweater that was a few sizes too big covering your frame. Cassian had moved next to you, bumping you with his arm and smiling down at you. "He's so beautiful," your voice was a melody, a soft echo that brought calm to the room. "And so sweet. Look at those rosy cheeks."
Rhysand pulled you away, moving you back to Feyre. He handed you to Azriel, arms out expectedly. "Don't make me command it."
The shadowsinger placed his youngest in Rhysand's arms, hands shaking despite the trust between them, "Be careful with her. Please." Rhys nodded, moving over to Cassian. "Feyre, this is y/n, my wife and mat-"
Feyre didn't allow him to finish, hugging you instantly, tears lining her eyes as she did. "Please tell me we can be friends and cry about our babies together."
"I didn't realize that would even be a question. Of course we will be friends, and of course we will cry about all of the things. Our mates don't get it. Cassian, though, Cassian will join us."
The warlord stuck one finger in your direction. "Let me love them in peace, y/n."
You leaned into Feyre, "Has he cried while holding Nyx yet?"
She nodded. "Oh yeah. Big illyrian baby."
"The worst, aren't they? Rhysand, did you want me to make dinner?"
The High lord looked at Azriel, a small look of guilt on his face, "Please."
You squeezed Feyre's arm, kissing Azriel as you moved towards the kitchen. "You know where to find me if she needs me." He nodded.
Azriel moved to Cassian, watching like a hawk as the general snuggled the small babe in his arms. Amara was sitting by Nyx a look of love and adoration on her face as she sighed.
"She's perfect for Azriel in every way," Rhys stroked Feyre's hand. "I was nervous at first too when he brought her home. I was even more nervous when his fears manifested in the form of being deeply private with her. But she is perfect for him."
Feyre nodded, watching as Azriel glared as Cassian due to the loud squeak his baby had just let out.
"His girls are beautiful." Rhys hummed in agreement. "Y/n is beautiful."
Feyre moved to Amara's side, sitting next to her and smiling as her niece started asking questions.
She didn't realize it until now, but this was the missing piece. The part of the puzzle that had sat empty despite every thing around it being done. You and your girls were that lost center.
Now she just had to convince Azriel to keep bringing you around.

✨capturing magic: park sunghoon
a vampires bleeding series: four / seven
pairing: sunghoon x afab!reader word count: 5.3k

genre: strangers/enemies to lovers, vampire!sunghoon, photographer!sunghoon, witch!reader, angst, some fluff.

☾ jungwon(1) | jay(2) | jake(3) | sunghoon(4) | sunoo(5) | niki(6) | heeseung(7) ☽
“YOU BROUGHT BACK A WITCH?!” Sunghoon snapped, his jaw clenching tightly.
“Yes!!” the dhampir snapped back, “We couldn’t leave her there to die!!”
Sunghoon was filled with anger, blood boiling.
“Let's all calm down…” Heeseung spoke up, placing a hand on Sunghoon’s shoulder.
Sunghoon slapped his hand away, “Hyung, that dhampir bringing this witch here will put us all in danger!!”
“This witch is one of my best friends!” She yelled, “I wasn’t going to leave her, end of story!”
Sunghoon scoffed, “Yeah, and if we all die it’ll be the damn dhampir’s fault.”
“Hey!” Jake yelled, getting in his best friend's face, “That damn dhampir is my mate, watch your words. She’s in our pack now.”
The room fell silent. Sunghoon figured he would have connected with the dhampir, the tension between the two was too obvious.
“And for the record,” Jake said, taking a step back away from Sunghoon, “I’m the one who said to bring the witch here. We need information once she wakes up.”
Sunghoon looks away from his friend, looking at the witch lying unconscious on the couch.
He knew Jake was right. In order to stop Dorian, they needed any information possible.
Sunghoon releases a breath, “Fine, do what you want with the witch.”
And with that, Sunghoon stormed off.
—
“Easy does it,” Heeseung grabbed your hands, helping you sit up.
It’s been exactly a week since Dorian burned down your village and killed your coven. You were the only surviving member.
Your heart ached for those you’ve lost, but you knew their souls were somewhere free from the cruelness of this world.
Most of your burns have healed from your recovery spell, but you still ached with each movement, making it harder for you to move. On top of that, your right leg was broken. And no recovery spell could make that heal any faster.
The vampires have shown you kindness for the most part. One in particular doesn’t care for you much.
Once you were completely sat up, you thanked Heeseung.
Jay knelt down beside you, looking at the bandages that covered your arms, slowly lifting them up to look at your skin.
“We can probably remove the bandages,” He said, lifting more of the bandage up to get a better look at your skin, “The only thing is, there’s a lot of scarring.”
You nodded, “Recovery spells can only go so far.”
Jay removed the bandages, relieving the scars. You didn’t realize how bad they actually were until you looked directly at them.
Flashbacks to the fire came back, shaking you to the core. You dropped your head into your hands, begging for the thoughts to go away.
“Y/N,” your best friend drops beside you, her hands set gently on your shoulders, “what’s wrong?”
Her voice alone was enough to snap you out of it, you quickly looked up at her, giving a nod, “I am fine, the scars just…”
She sighs, “It brought back the memories?”
You nodded again.
A scoff happened from across the room. You immediately glared in its direction.
Sunghoon leaned against the wall, arms crossed against his chest, his black hair falling against his eyes.
“Got something to say, bloodsucker?” you hissed.
Sunghoon raised a brow, “You gonna put a hex on me or something, witch?”
You gripped the blanket that covered your legs, “I just might!”
He chuckled, pushing himself off the wall. He smiled just enough to show his sharpened fangs and cracked his knuckles.
“Alright, that’s enough!” Jungwon snapped, looking between the two of you, “This situation isn’t ideal, but we all have one goal in common, so please for the love of everything put your differences to the side and shut the fuck up.”
Sunghoon sighed, retracting his fangs.
“Good boy, listen to your leader.” you gave him a wink.
“Y/N,” Jungwon warned.
You sighed and relaxed your body. You were powerless in your current situation.
A pack of vampires and two humans were your only source of protection at the current moment. Your coven was destroyed. This is all you have right now.
Sunghoon scoffed, then stormed out the door into the night.
“Do you think you can make it up the stairs to bathe and sleep in a bed finally?” your dhampir friend asks, giving you a soft smile.
You removed the blanket, and more burn scars trailed down your left leg, while the other was covered in a cast from your knee down.
You pulled your shorts down, trying to hide the scars.
“Hey,” Jay’s mate kneels beside your friend, her soft hands taking yours, “These scars are proof that you survived, don’t try to hide them.”
You wanted to protest, to shout that she doesn’t understand what it meant to survive after what you went through.
But then you noticed the scars on her neck. It didn’t take long for you to recognize that those scars were caused by Dorian. That __ survived almost being killed by him.
You forced a smile, “These scars don’t just show that I survived, they show what I also lost.”
“Then you’ll carry them with you forever,” she gives you a soft smile, “It’ll be a reminder of what Dorian has done, and what will be done to get back at him.”
She was right. You gave her a smile back with a nod.
Jay pulled his mate up and to his chest, wrapping her in his arms, “__ always knows what to say.”
Their bond pulled at each of them. Jungwon pulls __ to him and Jake pulls your friend to himself. Sunoo, Niki, and Heeseung had smiles watching their pack.
You too had a smile. You could feel the bond they shared. Their vibes and how their energies matched.
You looked at your friend and Jake. The way he held her so tightly and her head in the crease of his neck.
Your heart danced for them. You knew how much losing her first mate did a number on her. But you truly believe Jake was meant to be hers completely. She just had to go through some bullshit shit first.
Eventually, you had enough of the love birds, positioning yourself to stand up.
Your recovery spell healed your broken leg enough that you were able to stand up straight and still walk…but just barely.
Your half-blooded friend noticed your struggles, releasing herself from Jake to help you up the stairs and into the bathroom.
The reflection you saw in the mirror haunted you, a burn scar covering your left eye and up the side of your forehead. The recovery magic healed it enough that it was a light pink.
A sigh escaped your lips, as you turned and faced away from the mirror.
You cleaned yourself up, washing away the couch bum life you had for the last week.
You were so glad to finally be able to sleep in a bed. Archer was nice enough to run to the nearest supermarket to buy you extra clothes, bed sheets, and other witchy essentials to have here.
Your new room was filled with plants and crystals and a few books that Jake was able to salvage from the fire.
You tried to stay awake to read, but your eyes failed you. After not sleeping in a bed for over a week, it was way too comfortable.
—
You stood in front of the mirror, pulling your long black hair behind you and into a braid. Your bangs pull out perfectly down the sides of your face.
Your half-blooded friend brought you some jewelry to wear, which you were ecstatic about.
Witches can’t go without jewelry, right?
You pull some rings onto your fingers, then dangle earrings into your ears.
A perfectly black hooped nose ring suited your nose and a lace choker around your neck and a short silver bar on your eyebrow.
You pulled a white cropped tank top over you and a black baggy pair of cargo pants and black boot, and black cast boot on your right leg to match.
A beautiful light brown cardigan made the outfit even more perfect.
You did a three-sixty in the mirror, finally feeling and looking like yourself.
You stared at the scar on your eye. You traced your fingers over it, feeling the rough skin.
Dropping your hand back at your side, you turn and walk away from the mirror.
The kitchen was lively, and laughter from your new friends echoed up the stairs as you made your way down.
Jay stood at the counter flipping pancakes and bacon, a bag of blood attached to his lips.
The two humans stood behind Jay, begging him to hurry with breakfast and Jay tried his best to shoo them off.
Jake sat with __ on the couch. She ate a bowl of cereal while Jake drank his own bag of blood.
Sunoo, Jungwon, and Heeseung sat at the kitchen table with a map in front of them discussing the layout of the area.
Niki also sat at the table, backpack in his lap, and sipping on a bag of blood as if it were a juice box.
You giggled and walked over to the table, “You really are stuck in a seventeen-year-old body arentcha?”
Niki rolled his eyes, “Unfortunately.”
Heeseung checked his watch, “Off to school.”
Niki groaned, throwing his head back against the wall, “This fucking sucks.”
You softly smiled at the younger, “I’ll walk you out.”
Niki stood up, throwing the backpack on.
You went to the fridge, grabbing an apple and a bottle of water. The piles of blood bags filled the bottom shelf.
Seeing the bags reminded you that one bloodsucker in particular was missing.
“Where’s the idiot bloodsucker at?” you asked anyone who would give you an answer.
Jake perked up, “That idiot bloodsucker has a name,” you shrugged your shoulders, and Jake sighed, “He’s outside doing his photography.”
Your dhampir friend smiles at you, “Worried about him, Y/N?”
You narrowed your eyes, “He annoys me.”
She smirked at you, “You look pretty.”
You toss your braid over your shoulder, “Of course I do, part of being a witch is also being charming.”
The vampires groan, which you expected. They might be being nice to you for the moment, but witches and vampires still don’t get along.
You grabbed a blood bag along with your other items and closed the fridge.
You patted Niki’s back, “Come on baby bro, let’s get you off to school.”
—
Sunghoon sat up in a tree, camera in hand, and snapping photos of the open land.
The morning sunrise hit the land perfectly. He changed a few filter and lens settings, finding the perfect combination.
His mood changed once he heard the door to the house open, sensing Niki and you stepping out of the house.
Sunghoon turned around, watching as you waved Niki off, him going into a full sprint and gone within seconds.
You took a bite out of the apple in your hands, looking around until you made eye contact with him.
Sunghoon glared before turning his attention back to his camera.
“You lack a lot of manners bloodsucker, ya know that?”
Sunghoon scoffed, looking down at you who was now underneath him.
“Why do you care about my manners, hmm?”
“Haven’t you heard? We have a common goal, gotta act like friends, don’t want Jungwon to snap our necks, right?” You loved teasing him. You loved how irritated you made him and how you knew exactly what to say to get under his skin.
Deep down you really wanted to get along with all the vampires, Sunghoon was just the only one not budging.
Sunghoon ignored you, his jaw clenched as he held the camera back up.
You whistle at him, his eyebrow rising.
Sunghoon was fixing to snap, “I know for a fact you didn’t just whistle at me like I am a dog.”
“Look at me then.” You said.
Sunghoon looked back at you, a warm smile on your face.
You tossed the blood bag up to him, Sunghoon catching it.
“You haven’t eaten yet, right?”
All Sunghoon could do was stare at the bag, his tough exterior relaxing.
“Thank you,” was all he could say.
You smiled even brighter, taking another bite out of your apple.
Sunghoon drank the blood as you finished off your apple and drank your water.
“Can I see your work?” You asked, finally breaking the silence.
Sunghoon glared at you again, “Why do you care?”
You sigh, “Because believe it or not, we are kinda stuck with each other, soooo.”
Sunghoon rolled his head, running a hand through his hair.
He knew you were right.
“You won’t put a hex on me if I come down, will ya hex girl?”
You glared at him, “No you idiot!”
Sunghoon smirked, “Sassy much, hex girl?”
“Continue pushing my buttons and you’ll see, bloodsucker.”
This small banter admittedly made Sunghoon happy. You were the first person to get under his skin and make it crawl, but returned every ounce of energy he gave out.
Sunghoon flung himself down from the tree, waving you over.
One by one, Sunghoon showed you all the photos he took this morning.
“These are really beautiful, bloodsucker,” you said, patting his shoulder, “But it’s missing something.”
Sunghoon once again glared at you, “Missing what, exactly?”
You smile, pointing at yourself, “A model!”
Sunghoon furrowed his brows at you, “I don’t need you in my photos hex girl, might put a curse on them.”
You rolled your eyes, “Come on, just snap a few pictures.”
Sunghoon wanted to protest, why should he take photos of his enemy?
But with the way you looked right now, Sunghoon knew with the sunrise and open fields, you would be a perfect fit.
He nodded, “Fine.”
You smiled, skipping away from him.
Sunghoon lifted his camera, snapping a few photos of you skipping.
You stopped and quickly turned around, the biggest smile on your face. Sunghoon snapped that as a photo, his stomach doing flips.
The way your lips curled as you smiled. How the sun brought out the color of your eyes. The way your hair fell and blew in the wind.
Sunghoon stared at the photo. You were so beautiful.
“Hey!” You snapped Sunghoon out of his trance, “Are you going to stare at the camera or tell me how to be a good model?”
Sunghoon smiled, “Just…be you.”
You thought about it, deciding to make a joke, “What if I do Wanda Maximoff poses? Like Scarlet Witch Style?”
Sunghoon blinked at you, “Can you actually do magic like that?”
You glared at him, “No! I’m a witch, not a superhuman.”
Sunghoon glared back, “Well, I didn’t know what all you witches can do!”
“Just think of us witches as hippies, just that we don’t smoke a shit ton of weed.”
Sunghoon chuckled, his hand clenching his shirt from his laughter.
“What is so funny?” You tried to not laugh as well, but his laugh was contagious.
“Just the way you explained witches,” Sunghoon took a deep breath, “I’ve only ever been in contact with witches who use darker magic, you’re the first who doesn’t.”
You studied him and his smile, his natural fangs being present with his smile.
You haven’t seen him smile at all since you met a week ago.
You walked towards him, stopping directly in front of him.
Sunghoon narrowed his eyes down at you, “What are you doing? Get away from me.”
You sighed, “There’s that tough exterior.”
You placed your hand on his cheek, he pulled away, but reached back for him, connecting your palm to his skin.
Sunghoon’s heart was racing at your touch, his jaw locking together.
You breathed in, “You have such a tough exterior, but are so caring and soft underneath it.”
Sunghoon rolled his eyes, “Stop using your voodoo shit on me.”
“Sunghoon.”
It was the first time you actually called him by his name, and oh did it do numbers on him.
He made eye contact with you, and immediately after, you backed away from him.
Sunghoon knew why. There was a spark of electric energy that shot through the both of you, that small string slowly getting tied, but being still loose.
He shook his head, not letting it tighten.
“I’m going back to the house.” Sunghoon quickly turned and walked away, leaving you.
You touched your chest, looking down at the ground.
“What the fuck was that.”
—
Sunghoon spent the rest of the day locked inside his room, flipping through the photos he had taken earlier that morning, stopping at the one of you.
His heartstrings were being pulled. The moment of the string being attached to the both of you came back into his mind.
“I can’t mate with a damn witch, it’s impossible,” he whispered to himself.
But the more he looked at your photo, the more his heart called to you.
He turned the camera off, set it on the bedside table, rolled over, and fell asleep.
He woke up at the sound of footsteps walking down the hall.
Sunghoon stretched, a yawn escaping his lips.
He checked the time off his phone, rolling his eyes at the time.
Sunghoon quickly got out of bed, sliding his sneakers on before walking out of his room, seeing the door to your bedroom was open.
Sunghoon rolled his eyes, “What the hell is she doing?”
He found you outside by the pond sitting on the ground. Glass bottles filled with herbs sat in front of you, and a small fire was lit to your right.
“It’s three a.m.,” he yawned, “why the hell are you outside at three a.m.”
You turned and smiled at him, “I’m doing witchy things.”
Sunghoon scoffed, “I already figured that, hex girl. I’m asking what exactly you are doing.”
You turned back to the herbs, slowly mixing them together and setting them into the fire.
“Don’t you know the witching hour is three a.m.?”
Sunghoon shoved his hands into the pockets of his sweatpants, “Yes, isn’t that when your powers are at their strongest? Just like us on a new moon.”
“Exactly,” you sang, “My powers are only stronger for an hour, plus the protection barrier I put around the house was fading due to my injuries from the fire. I need to revamp my recovery spell as well, so these scars go away.”
Sunghoon’s heart pulled towards you even more, you were sacrificing so much to protect everyone, to protect him when he does nothing but be an ass towards you.
You stood up, brushing the dirt off your sweatpants, “The barrier on the house has been fixed, so yay!”
Sunghoon nodded.
“But I ran out of herbal recovery leaves, so I need more of that to remove all these burn marks.”
You started to walk away, only for Sunghoon to grab your arm.
You raised a brow at him, noticing how serious his face looked at you, “What?”
Sunghoon walked closer to you, tracing his fingers over the massive pink scar on your face, “You’re beautiful as you are,” his fingers moved over every inch of the scar, before moving down your cheek, his palm cupping your face, “You’re so beautiful, scars and all.”
Your heart raced. He thought you were beautiful? You thought he hated you. But you couldn’t help but feel that tug to him, and notice his energy was matching that tug.
“What is this feeling?” You asked, “This energy that’s flowing between us? It wasn’t there before today.”
Sunghoon reached for your hand with his free hand, his eyes meeting yours, “It’s the string of fate.”
You looked at him confused, “String of fate?”
“When vampires meet their mates, a string of fate ties them together,” Sunghoon took a deep breath in, “And I think we might have a string of fate tying around us.”
“Is that another way of saying we are soulmates?” You made a grossed-out face at him, which earned you a glare.
“Don’t look at me like that hex girl, you act like it’s a choice.”
“Is it not?”
Sunghoon shook his head, “Trust me if it was, I wouldn’t be standing here right now.”
“Must be spine-chilling knowing your string of fate is probably being tied to a witch.” you teased him.
Sunghoon half smiled, biting his lower lip, “You know for someone who was the head witch of your coven and village, you sure don’t know a lot about vampires.”
You rolled your eyes, finally pushing his hand from your face, “I was only recently appointed as head witch, it’s not something I wanted.”
Sunghoon squeezed your hand, “It’s like Jungwon being our leader, I don’t think he thought he was fit enough.”
“Jungwon is doing fanatic, better than I was.”
“I bet you were fine—“
“If I were fine,” you took a deep breath in, “Then Dorian wouldn’t have found a way to break the barrier over my village and wouldn’t have burnt down to ashes and killed my whole coven.”
Sunghoon pulled you to him, embracing you, “I am so sorry they didn’t get to you in time. The moment Dorian would have been near Jake we would have known, we would have been there in seconds and…”
“And what, bloodsucker?”
“I could have saved you and your coven.”
You looked up at him, “You hate me, hate witches, why do that?”
Sunghoon took a deep breath, pushing your long hair behind your ear, “I would have gone to protect Jake, he’s my best friend after all, but I would have met you sooner, and could have prevented what happened.”
You stepped away from him, tears filling your eyes and not wanting him to see it.
“I couldn’t have stopped what happened, but I can do something now to protect you and my pack.”
You made eye contact with him, once again feeling that string of fate, it pulled your hearts together, you could feel and see the red energy wrap around the two of you, but you could also feel Sunghoon’s heart trying to reject it.
“We can’t be mates, you won’t allow it.”
Sunghoon rolled his eyes, “Stop using your voodoo on me.”
you scoffed, “I’m not using voodoo! I am using my—“
“Just shut up and come over here and kiss me.”
You stared at him, his hands clenched into fists at his sides.
You chuckled, “What?”
“Y/N,” your heart stopped at hearing how beautifully your name rolled off his tongue, “I am fighting to push out that string of fate. Anytime I’ve thought about who my mate would be, I never once pictured it would be you. Yet here you are in front of me. We are total opposites and two different types of creatures. And if you go back into that house and ignore this fate, then we will continue this back and forth. But if you come over here and kiss me, I swear I’ll be good to you.”
God damn that string of fate and god damn this vampire.
You rushed to him, standing on your tiptoes to reach his lips. His hands found your waist. The red energy of this fate tied you two into a knot. Bonding you as mates.
“Goddammit, hex girl,” he whispered in between kisses.
“Goddamnit, bloodsucker,” you whispered back.
Sunghoon sat against the tree, with you between his legs. Back against his chest and his arms wrapped around you.
You leaned your head against his chin, watching as the sun slowly peaked over the horizon.
“How long were you the head witch?” Sunghoon asked, taking your hands in his.
You sighed, “Only two years, I was next in line but I didn’t want it.”
“Why didn’t you?” Sunghoon was curious. Witches were something totally different than vampires, dhampirs, and even werewolves, their way of life was completely in the opposite direction.
“I didn’t feel as if I was ready,” you leaned more into him, “I don’t have as many years on me as some of the other warlocks and witches in the village.”
“And what time period are you from exactly?” Sunghoon teased.
“I saw the Salem Witch Trials happen.”
“Gosh you’re so old!” he teased you more, planting kisses on your cheek.
“Oh shut up!” you shoved your back into his chest, “I can NOT believe I am stuck with you until the world ends.”
“Get used to it, sweetheart.”
You both laughed and leaned more into each other.
“Can I take a photo of us?” Sunghoon asked, “I want to capture this moment.”
You nodded and he pulled his phone from his pocket.
“No camera?” you teased.
“Phone cameras work just as well.”
You looked into the phone's camera and gasped, “Oh my god! I can see your reflection!”
Sunghoon dropped his arm and rolled his eyes, “Shut up with your stupid ass jokes and take a nice photo with me, hex girl.”
You decided to stop teasing him and smiled into the camera.
Sunghoon stared down at the photo of the two of you, the happiness he felt, he could see it written all over his face.
“You know, I’ve never captured something as beautiful as you.”
You looked up at him, “And I’ve never thought I’d have my own personal photographer to take model photos of me.”
“God you’re so annoying.”
Hand in hand, you followed Sunghoon back to the house.
Everyone was awake and stopped everything they were doing in shock at the sight they were seeing.
“Who would have thought,” Jake teased.
Sunghoon tried hard to fight back his smile, “Shut up.”
Everyone laughed and joked along.
You were happy.
The moment you bonded with Sunghoon, you felt the same bond with the others, including your best friend and the humans in the pack.
It wasn’t like your coven, but the bond was still there. You belonged somewhere again.
You looked up at your mate, his smile working numbers on your heart. God you loved him so much already.
But Sunghoon’s smile faded, and so did the other vampire's smiles.
The room fell silent. The humans and you are both confused, clearly not being able to hear what they are hearing.
“Something isn’t right,” Heeseung said quietly.
“Sunghoon?” you take your hand in his.
He squeezed your hand tightly.
Before Sunghoon could open his mouth to speak, you sensed the other presence.
You dropped your mate's hand, and slowly back away.
You looked at your half-blooded friend, she was already looking at you.
“Dorian...” you whispered, “He broke the protection barrier.”
Sunghoon’s jaw clenched, “Guys what do we do?”
Before any more could be said, you and __ were running towards the door.”
“No no no!!” Sunghoon and Jake both yelled, grabbing ahold of you and her.
“Jake, fucking let go of me!!” she screamed.
You also fought off Sunghoon’s grip on your arm, “Let go of me!” you hissed.
“I am not letting you go out there!” He snapped.
You managed to get out of his hold and were out the door.
“Y/N!” Sunghoon yelled, going after you.
__ released Jake’s grip and was following behind.
Everyone else was right behind.
Dorian stood at the edge of the pond, two women standing at his side, and a black portal opened behind him.
You clenched your fist and you stood in front of him at a distance.
“Dorian!” you hissed.
“I see you survived being burned,” he laughed, “You unfortunately didn’t get the fate as your coven did.”
“How dare you speak of them!” You took a step forward, only to be stopped by Sunghoon getting in front of you.
Sunghoon glared down at Dorian, his rage hitting its peak.
Dorian laughed, “Oh this is too good! Two enemies mated? This pack continues to surprise me.” He glances over at your best friend with Jake also at her side, “Ahh, nice to see you again, __. I also see you’ve mated again.”
“Shut up!” the dhampir snapped, “Don’t you dare bring him up!! You murderer!!”
Dorian’s laughter grew louder the more he made eye contact with each member of the pack.
Jungwon and Jay have death grips on their mates. Their eyes narrowed and their jaws clenched.
“I would love to stay and chat up with you guys, but I only came for two of your mates, and that is all.” Dorian looked at the women at his sides, “Ladies will you do the honors?”
The women both smiled and disappeared.
Sunghoon’s eyes widened, those two weren’t like normal vampires.
“He used magic..” you whispered, “He figured out how to read the spells he stole from my coven.”
Dorian’s laughter filled the air and it only made Sunghoon rage even more.
With one blink of an eye, one of the women was at Sunghoon’s side, and then she was gone. She reappeared back at Dorian’s side with you in front of her, a knife pressed against your neck, the sharp edge making a cut, a small stream of blood dripping down.
The other woman reappeared with the dhampir at Dorian’s side.
As if on command, Sunghoon and Jake both rushed forward.
They weren’t thinking clearly. Their brains fogged and only had their sights on their mates.
Heeseung made it in time to grab Sunghoon, pulling him back, and Sunoo for Jake.
“GIVE HER BACK!!” Sunghoon screamed, “FUCKING GIVE HER BACK TO ME.”
“Sunghoon calm down,” Heeseung shouted, “He’s going to kill them both if you take one more step.”
Sunghoon stopped fighting Heeseung, but Sunoo struggled to keep Jake at bay, until Heeseung repeated the same words again, causing Jake to fall to his knees.
“Good,” Dorian said, “Would have been a shame to kill your mates in front of you.”
“What do you want with our pack members!?” Jungwon snapped a low growl leaving his lips when he yelled.
“I have some unfinished business with them,” Dorian stared down at Jungwon’s mate, causing Jungwon to press __ even closer to him, “I have some unfinished business with all of you actually, but Y/N and this dhampir are more important. They have something I need.”
Sunghoon went to take a step, just to be stopped by hearing your whimpers as the knife was pressed harder against your neck.
“Now then,” Dorian turned and faced the portal, “We shall be taking our leave then.”
He stepped through the portal, the women slowly following behind him.
Sunghoon and Jake tried fighting Heeseung and Sunoo again.
Both scream out for their mates.
Sunghoon felt powerless as he watched you disappear through the portal, quickly closing up after you stepped through.
The last thing you saw was the tears that filled Sunghoon’s eyes.
Once you were gone, all Sunghoon could do was fall to his knees, his fingers dug into the dirt as he stared down.
The sounds of Jake’s cries muffled out.
No one ever told Sunghoon how it would feel to have your mate taken from you, to feel the distance of how far they were. The loneliness of them not being at your side.
Sunghoon couldn’t hold in his rage as he let out a yell until his voice was gone and his throat sore.
The last thing Sunghoon remembered was Heeseung pulling him off the ground and dragging him into the house.
—
Everyone sat in silence the next morning.
Jake sat in the corner of the living room, knees to his chest and head on his knees, tuning out the world.
Sunghoon stared down at the photo of you he had taken with his camera. His hands shook.
“Dorian is going to pay.” Sunghoon said, breaking the silence, “I am going to make him pay for the things he’s done and get my mate back.”

A Simple Christmas
°•°*°•°
James Potter x Reader
Tags: Enemies to lovers, friends to lovers, slow burn, Christmas fluff, unrequited love, angst/fluff, GRYFFINDOOR QUIDITCH Y'ALL
Summary: You and James Potter have been rivals since first year, but a Quidditch incident in your fourth year brings you closer. Spending Christmas at the Potter's, you realize your feelings for James might be more than just rivalry. With a little holiday magic, you discover that sometimes love is hidden in the most unexpected places
Warnings: Minor injury, mild language, slight angst (concerned reader), tensions...
Words: 2.7k
°•°*°•°
You started the tradition of Christams at the Potter's in fourth year.
It was an unlikely thing for you to agree to, seeing as you hated James Potter's guts from the moment you bumped into him on the Express in first year.
He was rude, loud, arrogant and the most devious 11 year-old you'd ever had the displeasure of meeting.
And then he grew up...
He and his gang of Mauraders were always the talk of the school, "Potter this- Potter that." "Oh,did you hear about Potter's latest prank? It was brilliant!" You began to detest him with even greater passion. It certainly didn't help, in third year when you both tried out for the Gryffindoor Quiditch team. He was a great Seeker- you'd give him that- yet, every time you won a match, you couldn't help the strange sensation of emotions that would fill your chest and cloud your eyes.
He was so, easy, everything was easy for James Potter. Talking, smiling, laughing. You started to notice everything about him and suddenly that became easy too. He would do something funny and outrageous and you'd catch yourself staring. He'd make a quip at you, you'd fire back and you'd find yourself laughing. Smiling even!
Then every day, you'd tell yourself, 'this has to stop.' Or, 'pull yourself together, Y/n! We hate him! He's a foul example of Gryffindoor overconfidence, he's a lousy classmate. He couldn't spell the word reliable with the help of the Imperious Curse!' And then you'd stop short and sigh, and watch the way he talked to her.
Lily Evans was beautiful, she was the "most talented witch of her age," Professor Dippet would praise after every assignment. She was smart, she was vibrant. Everything James Potter could want. In fact he did, he'd wanted her from the very moment he'd seen her on that train. He'd bumped into you to get to her.
Was that why you hated him? Because he'd chosen her over you? You shook your head at the thought. No. Of course not, you'd both made your beds with those very first insults on that train. That's how it was and how it would always be.
Until it wasn't...
°•°*°•°
It was the first match of the term in your fourth year. Tensions were high. Slytherin vs. Gryffindoor. Everyone was on edge to get one over on the other house. You had to admit, you were feeling strung pretty high to win this particular game. And it was not happening.
You groaned from your broom as you listened to Sirius Black narrate yet another goal for Slytherin over the loud speaker with slew of curses flying off as rapidly as he could come up with them. You caught a brief glance of the new Transfigurations teacher, Professor McGonagall, snatch the microphone from him and tell him off with such sterness, you could understand why the infamous trouble causer was cowering in the stands.
You stole yourself from the scene and focused on the task at hand. A fellow Gryffindoor Chaser was flying for you, fast, you steadied yourself on your broom and prepared to take the Quaffle. You snatched it at lightning speed, taking off to the other end of the pitch, the Slytherin Chasers caught in your dust. You scored. "10 points to Gryffindoor!" Black shouted.
Good, you were tied now. You spun around, you jumped as something hurtled past you and downwards to the field. You heard the roars of the crowd before you could make out what it was. "Potter's got the snitch!" Sirius bellowed. The Gryffindoors were chanting Potter's name before you could even steady your broom. You were smiling at him.
He was holding the snitch in his hand, waving it around in triumph. "Way to go Potter!" You called down to him. He looked up at you, grinning at you lopsidedly.
"That a compliment Y/l/n?" You shook your head at him playfully.
"Don't let it go to you'd head!" His grin widened.
"Not like that would-" You couldn't hear the rest of his sentence before you looked around to find a Slytherin Beater 30 feat away, her bat raised over her shoulder and the bludger she'd hit, flying straight at you. All you could comprehend was the searing pain in your head as it made impact. You slid off your broom ... it was all so hazy... someone caught you... someone was saying your name... and then came the darkness.
°•°*°•°
You woke up with a searing headache and foggy vision. -"concussion Mr Potter. You must leave my patient to recover."
"But it's been days Madame Pomfrey. Shouldn't she be awake?" You couldn't quite make out the owner of the voice, your ears were buzzing like a colony of pixies were fluttering around in there. You made a guess though and when you gingerly opened an eye, the first thing you saw was his shaggy mop of black hair cascading over his worried face.
Worried? Why should he be worried about you? He hated you, right. Right? Then you listened to his voice, the pleading tone and lilt of angst. It was so unlike the boy you'd spent four years getting to know that you were taken aback. You felt the urge to make fun of him by saying something clever, instead you just groaned and your smirk turned into a grimace. "Y/n!"
He was by your side in a flash, or perhaps you'd just blinked really slowly. While Madame Pomfrey fussed over you, you listened to him talk. -" and then, that skeevy brat, she had the gall to pretend to be sorry when the ref told her off. Of course, the Captain was furious and he spent an hour and a half trying to disqualify them from the whole season. It's a pity we've got a Slytherin flying coach this year, else he totally wouldn't have allowed them to play after you'd got hurt." James shook his head like the very notion disgusted him. "But, I think their Beater, Doldra Macconal, she'll find herself a nice little surprise tomorrow morning." He smiled devilishly. Perhaps it was the ointment that Madame Pomfrey had put over your bruises that turned your face bright red but suddenly you felt very hot.
Madame Pomfrey bustled away to fetch a clean cloth and this gave you time to think. "Wait, who caught me after I fell? I would've had a few more broken bones than this if I just fell off my broom." It was the first time you'd actually spoken, your voice sounded foreign in your throat and you jumped slightly. James looked at you sympathetically for a moment before your question sunk in. You watched him curiously as his cheeks pinkened and a bashful look fluttered over his face.
"Well, you just fell, like, clean off your broom. And- and I was right there, so..." He seemed much to embarrassed to continue. So you finished for him. He nodded sheepishly. You smiled at him, even though it hurt and asked, "What'dya mean Macconnel will find a surprise tomorrow morning?" You glared at him more sternly, "James, what did you do?" He gafawed at you.
"I think that's the first time you've called me by my name." You looked surprised at him, even he seemed surprised. Then you both burst into laughter.
You chatted for what seemed like hours after that, going back and forth between the match and the gossip around Hogwarts while you'd been out. But after a painstakingly short 20 minutes, Madame Pomfrey shooed James out of the hospital wing. He glanced back at you with a sad smile. You tried to smile back, it didn't go very well, but he got the message.
When you got out of the hospital that seemed to be it. You, James Potter and his Marauding gang became inseparable after that. It was like all you needed to do was talk to him and suddenly you were head over heels- no! No way!
°•°*°•°
The train was bustling with students all heading home for the holidays. You stood on the platform, proudly suiting your 6th year status and watching the first years fondly as they lept onto the train. "Watcha thinking 'bout Y/n/n?" You smiled at James as he came to stand beside you. He heaved his luggage in front of him with a disgruntled huff.
"Hmm, just when we started being friends. Hey, what did you actually do to Macconnel after she bludgered me? I never actually asked." James laughed his hearty laugh that you'd come to love. You shook your head, stop it, you scolded yourself.
"Oh Goddric,it was so great. But id forgotten 'bout it. We gave her a right scare." He smiled fondly at the memory.
"It's creepy that you think about it with that kind of smile on your face." You stepped onto the train, dragging your trunk after you.
"Oi! What's that? What's wrong with my face?" He followed after you.
"I think she means you look right ugly Prongsy." Came Sirius's lilting voice from a nearby cabin. You laughed as you shoved past him, the two of you exchanging mischievous glances.
"Listen to Pads, James. He has a point." You stuck your tongue out at him, deciding to drop the Macconnel story. He glowered back at you. He heaved his trunk onto the top shelf, turning to you and so naturally lifting yours up, taking it from your hands. Your stomach did summersaults as your fingers brushed. Sirius chuckled. You spun on him and did a wild shushing motion with your full upper body. This only made him fully laugh.
James turned. "Eh, what's funny now?" Sirius held his hands up in mock surrender at your furious glare.
"Nothing, nothing mate. Swear it." He slumped down onto the seat closest to the window, leaving just enough room for you and James to sit achingly close together on the opposite bench. You felt like hexing him, but you supposed James would notice and ask what all the fuss was about. He wasn't that dense.
You elected to change the subject. "Moony not coming this year?" James and Sirius sighed in unison.
"Nope. Burried his nose so deep in the library's books I'm worried he'll turn into one before we get back after the holidays." Sirius answered. You scoffed.
"Oh please, he's so prepared for our N.E.W.T.S next year, even McGonagall is telling him to give it a rest."
"I know!" Both the boys exclaimed in unison. "Where's Wormtail though?" James asked the reclining nuisance of a wizard taking up half the cabin. Sirius shrugged.
"Dunno. Says your mummy scares him. Decided to stay and 'keep Remus alive.' Whatever that means."
The train ride back to the Potter's was usually your favorite part of the holiday, but so close to Prongs, you might as well have burst into flames where you sat. "You okay, Y/n/n?" Your very oblivious crush asked.
"Yeah." You cleared your throat. "Yep, just fine Prongs." You squeaked. Black sniggered. You threw your shoe at him.
"Hey!"
°•°*°•°
It was an hour to midnight, an hour 'til Christmas and you were wandering the Potter house in the dead of night. The absence of sleep very obvious. You sighed as you found yourself, yet again, in the living room. You plodded over to the fireplace, where the dying embers crackled soothingly. You sank down with a thud and a heavy sigh, curling your blanket around you.
A dawning realization had struck you about 3 hours ago and it was churning your insides like sticky taffy, getting stuck in your every waking thought. You were in love with James Potter. This morning, mind you, you'd mearly thought you'd liked him and then he smiled at you- really smiled- and you knew.
And it was the most impossible thought you'd ever had. He loved someone else, someone much better than you. He maybe didn't deserve her, but he certainly had more of a shot with her than you did with him. He was your best friend! Loving him was like loving your pet Grindylow until it bites your hand off. You didn't want your friendship to be at stake, it was the last thing you wanted to think about, but here you were; thinking about it.
"Y/n?" Came his groggy voice from the stairs landing.
"Yeah Jamie?" Whoops, that just slipped out. Obviously he didn't notice because he came and sat beside you. You watched him rub the sleep from his eyes and yawn. He put his hands out in front of the fire and shuddered.
"It's bloody cold down here. Why're you still up?" You shrugged. Tucking a stray strand of hair behind his ear. The firelight made his cheeks look redder than usual.
"Lots to think about. Why're you still up?" You mimicked. He glanced away.
"I've been thinking; there's this girl-"
"Yeah, yeah, Prongsy, Lily, the light of your life. Let's assume I've probably heard it before." You felt your heart tug painfully.
"When have you heard me talk about Evans like that?" He accused.
"Uhm, all these long, harrowing years that I've known you?" You shot back.
"Harrowing. Huh." He huffed. Looking affronted. You smiled at him softly. Bumping your shoulder against his.
"Sorry Jamie." It happened again, but you didn't really mind.
"See there you go again!" He shouted, standing up. You were following him before you knew it. Your blanket falling to the floor.
"Shh! Shh!" You pointed to the ceiling, warning him about waking his parents. He shook his head.
"You're bossing me around and it's driving me crazy!" He whisper-yelled. "You're- you're calling me these sweet little nicknames. You're brushing my hair out of my face, you're worried about me when I get hurt on the Pitch. And Merlin Y/n, the way you look at me..." He softened now, "The way you look at me just makes me..."
"Crazy?" You finished. Your heart was beating out of your chest. There was a glimmer of something there, but you couldn't let it be hope. He was looking at you dazedly through his square glasses, his hair ruffled and his lips softly parted. You could imagine the feel of them against yours.
He gulped. "Something like that." And then it clicked.
"In- in fourth year, when I'd just woken up in the hospital wing. I asked you, I asked you if you liked me or something, because you were acting so strangely... I just thought... but it was a joke!" You were whisper-yelling now. Frantic. "You replied and, and I didn't hear you... but you said that. You said-"
"Or something." You were both staring at each other. The tension so thick you couldn't cut it with a knife.
You shook your head. "You're in love with Evans!" He took a slow step towards you. "I'm not her, I could never be her. I wouldn't want to be."
"Good." He said as he reached you, he put a tender hand to your cheek. "Because I haven't thought about Lily Evans even half as much as I've ever thought about you. She couldn't hold a floating candle to you Y/n. Not in my head." The look in his eyes was so soft, so beseeching, that you just had to ask:
"Jamie, kiss me already?" And suddenly he was on you. His lips colliding with yours, melding into you. He felt so perfect, a piece of a puzzle snapping into place. He prodded your lips with his tongue, you eagerly obliged, your lips parting.
You both groaned into the kiss as he deepend it. You wrapped your arms around his neck, he leveraged your legs in his hands, guiding you to jump up and wrap your legs around his waist. You were just about to take his glasses off when-
"Bout bloody time. You know lovebirds, I couldn't stand one more bloody Christmas with you two pining after each other. I think Moony was going to implode if we had to see one more honey-eyed-"
"Sirius!" You both shouted. James let you out of his grasp, but he kept you firmly pinned to his chest.
"Sod off, you prat. We're busy." James growled.Padfoot waved an absent hand and turned to head back upstairs.
"Off I go. But Merry Christmas to the happy couple." He snickered. "Ooo, this is the best Christmas present ever! Those two back at Hogwarts are gonna be so mad!" He said with a singsong cheeriness that was much too righteous for 12 am. The clock struck midnight.
"Happy Christmas Y/n." James smiled at you warmly.
You kissed him again, running your hands through his tussled hair. "Merry Christmas Jamie." He picked you up again and you giggled at him. "You know what I want my Christmas present to be?"
"What, princess?" He asked with a lovesick smile.
"Be my boyfriend?" He beamed at you.
"Ask and you shall receive!" He threw you onto the couch, you shrieked and giggled as he followed suit. He shushed you, but it would be many hours before either of you were actually quiet.

A/n Yes! Okay, I know it's cannon divergent but I thought it was cute (and yes, probably getting hit square in the head with a bludger would blow your brain up, but I'm allowed some creative and magical liberties).

Hey, Could I, please, have a story with picture number 2? It'd be awesome if you could turn it into a time traveller story, but you don't have to. I fully trust your talent and skills.
On the other hand, I think it's awesome how you could turn having very bad anxiety and panic attacks into such a nice short story. I hope you're better now. I don't know if you wrote it for the sake of the story or if it's true for you too, but The Last and Snooze are my two favourite songs from Yoongi :) I really loved that part in the story where you wrote about Yoongi's indigestion problems, it made me laugh.
Take care and get well soon :)
They are great songs that help a lot!
I hope this is okay. It’s kind of time traveler-ish but probably not what you were expecting. It’s spooky season themed too.
•••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••
Here is number 2 from the picture game!
Warnings: mentions of death, very slightly suggestive, angst
Disclaimer: Some things may not be correct for the time period. I tried my best.
“Spells, Potions, and Magic, Solutions for the Everyday Witch”, you rolled your eyes before tossing the heavy ornate book into a box. You always knew that your neighbor Ms. M as she was called was a little on the odd side but when her daughter offered you $200 to clean out her moms home after she passed away, as a broke college student you couldn’t say no.
It was simple. You could keep anything you wanted and everything else got chucked into a large dumpster that was sitting outside. There was also this book that apparently Ms.M had insisted you have even though you thought it was a little weird. Other than the book you kept a few pots and pans, a couple vintage sweaters, and what looked like a handmaid quilt. You had a box of stuff you thought that maybe you could sell for a little extra cash too.
You felt bad just throwing away this woman’s entire life like she had never existed but that’s what you were paid to do.
After you were all finished you collected your payment and your items and headed back home to your place.
The box of stuff you were planning to sell consisted of mostly some jewelry, a very old vase, a Chanel purse you were praying was real, and the spell book. You knew the campus bookstore would definitely send some cash or at least store credit your way for that one and you did not want it taking up space in your already cramped home.
After making yourself some dinner your curiosity got the best of you and you started flipping through the pages of the book.
‘How to turn your enemy into a frog. A step by step guide.’, you rolled your eyes because how original?
‘Black cat following you around? Use this spell to reveal their true identity.’, okay maybe the cat is just hungry you laughed.
‘Death by chocolate cake’, you 100% expected to find just a normal recipe for chocolate cake which you did until the very last ingredient said a touch of arsenic and you realized they weren’t kidding about the death part.
Interestingly there was one page in particular that seemed to have been opened to more times than the others.
‘How to bring someone back from the twilight.’, useful I guess if someone accidentally ate your death by chocolate cake you chuckled.
You wondered if maybe Ms.M had spent much of her life trying to bring someone back from the dead, maybe a former lover. She was probably so grief stricken she was desperate and thought something as ridiculous as a spell could work. You felt bad for the woman and whomever it was that she thought she could bring back.
Putting the book aside you started going through some of the jewelry you took to see what was profitable. What looked to be a man’s ring caught your attention first. It was very intricate with a beautiful carving of what you thought was a jaguar. The eyes appeared to be made out of diamonds or so you hoped because that would definitely up the value when you try to sell it.
You went through some of the other jewelry but for some reason that book kept pulling your attention back to it. You went back to the page with the spell about bringing someone back. As you fidgeted with the jaguar ring you began to read,
“When the moon reaches full peak and the skies are clear, read this verse, there is nothing to fear. Lost in the twilight, shall be no more. Once true loves companion, completes the lore.”, what the hell you laughed. You would have thought this was meant as a Halloween book for toddlers or something if it wasn’t for the recipe on how to murder someone with chocolate cake.
Having had enough you decided it was time for bed and you’d deal with the stuff after your classes tomorrow. You kept the ring with you wanting to make sure it was safe and went upstairs to finish your nightly routine.
When you woke up the next morning you stretched feeling a little sore from all the heavy lifting you did the day before. You reached over to turn off your alarm clock when you felt an arm wrap around your waist and pull you close. It took a second for you to realize what just happened and that someone was currently in your bed with you, but once it hit you, it hit you like a bus.
You jumped out of bed in one quick movement stumbling for your light switch. Once the room was illuminated you got a good look at who was in your bed.
A man, yes a full grown man was peacefully sleeping next to you and at one point had his arm wrapped around you.
You had experienced one night stands before. It wasn’t your favorite thing to do but you had needs too. Never though had you ever had a one night stand that you didn’t remember. And you didn’t even leave your house last night so how did this happen?
What made you even more curious was that this guy didn’t look like the typical guys you were used to seeing around town. His hair was dark black and wavy and long, one side gently tucked behind his ear. His skin care routine must’ve been top notch because he didn’t have a single blemish and judging by how pale he was he either rarely left his house or was strict about sun protection. His clothes are what threw you off the most. Most of the guys you were around wore tshirts, hoodies, jeans, sweats and things like that. Not this guy. He looked like he was straight out of an 1800’s men’s fashion magazine, if that thing existed back then. The worst part was that you caught yourself staring at him a little too long. He was breathtakingly beautiful and you were a little sad that you didn’t remember anything from your time with him because you definitely would’ve liked to.
And then you reminded yourself that he was some guy you didn’t know and you should probably wake him up so he could get the hell out of your house and you could go on with your day.
Gently you poked at his shoulder but with no reaction. So you poked a little harder. This time he swatted at your hand and pouted which only made him look more beautiful.
So then you poked him even harder, “Um excuse me.”
This time he groaned before opening his eyes to look at you. It took a second but then he screamed and jumped out of the bed making you scream and jump back towards the door.
“Who are you?”, he asked groggy and out of breath.
That hurt a little that he didn’t remember you even though you were in the same boat but you’d like to think you were unforgettable so how dare he?
“Y/N, who are you?”
“Min Yoongi.”
“Okay Yoongi well whatever we did last night is over so it’s time for you to get going. I have class to get to.”, you said motioning towards the door.
You must’ve hit snooze instead of off on your alarm because it started making that familiar annoying ringing again.
Yoongi quickly brought his hands to his face to shield himself and he slightly crouched down, “What is that thing? Is it going to explode?”
You looked at him confused. “I wish. It’s just the alarm clock on my phone.”, you said showing him that you were turning it off.
He stood back up and smoothly moved his hair back behind his ear.
“Mmhm, where is the lavatory?”, he asked suddenly.
“I’m sorry what?”
“The lavatory, latrine…the toilet?”
“Ohh down the hall and first door on the left.”, you said pointing. He walked past you with a nod and you heard the door click shut.
“Jeeze, where did I find this guy?”, you asked yourself.
You took the time that he was in the bathroom to get dressed and went downstairs thankful that you had a second bathroom so you could finish getting ready there. Once you were done you went into the kitchen and got your coffee going and poured yourself a bowl of cereal, too tired to really cook anything. You took the book and the rest of the stuff from the night before and tossed it in the box so that it was out of the way.
After a few minutes Yoongi walked into the kitchen. You were kind of annoyed that he didn’t get the hint to leave but you still wanted to be polite because that was who you were, “Would you like some coffee?”
He nodded so you poured him a cup, “I have pumpkin spice or caramel macchiato flavored creamers.”
He looked at you with a straight face, “Pumpkins aren’t spicy.”
“Okay black it is.”, you whispered handing him the mug.
“Would you like some cereal?”, you asked.
Thankfully he shook his head because you had no idea how you would explain why your breakfast cereal had different colored marshmallows in it, something you just knew he would question.
You ate in awkward silence hoping he would eventually just get up and leave after realizing you weren’t interested.
Your phone which had been sitting on the counter charging dinged with a notification making Yoongi flinch back. “Why does that thing keep making noises?”, he asked still shaken.
“Well it’s a phone. That’s what they do.”, you said starting to get annoyed.
“Well back in my day there was only one phone for the whole city and it was attached to a wall at the courthouse and only made one sound.”, he said just as annoyed.
You took another bite of cereal unsure how to answer that but knowing that you needed to get this man out of your house and then reevaluate your life decisions.
“So uh did you need me to call you an Uber or something?”
“Uber?”
“Or Lyft or taxi or give you money for the bus?”, you said running out of options.
“Do you not have a horse and buggy to take me home in?”, he asked as if you were the odd one in this situation.
Slowly you shook your head, “Noooooo I’m sorry my buggy is currently in the shop and my horse is on vacation.”
You realized rather quickly that he did not appreciate the joke.
No longer having an appetite you started to collect your dishes when Yoongi grabbed your hand. He inspected it closely and that’s when you released you were still wearing the ring.
“How did you get that? That’s my ring.”, he asked.
“Umm it was in my neighbors stuff that I helped clear out yesterday.”
“Your neighbor? Where is she? I must see her.”
You were taken back a little by his outburst.
“Well she died about a month ago so I don’t really know how I can do that.”
Yoongi scoffed, “Good, I hope she’s burning in hell where she belongs that evil shrew.”
You raised an eyebrow not having heard anyone use that word outside of movies.
“How did it happen? Was she hung from the gallows? Slowly and painfully from Cholera?”, he asked a little too excited.
“Ummm she was like 100 million years old so I’m guessing that had something to do with it.”
“What year is it?”, he asked suddenly?
“2024”
“About 221.”, he stated matter of factly.
“I’m sorry?”
“She…your neighbor…Lenora…She was born in 1803 so she would be 221 years old.”
“And you know this how?”
“She’s my little sister.”
“Oookkkaayy”, you said, “Why is it always the hottest ones that are the craziest?”
“I am neither hot nor crazy. It’s quite chilly actually.” Yoongi said after overhearing you.
“No hot means like attractive, sexy, good looking.”, you said before feeling your cheeks heat up at the realization. Thankfully it seemed like he didn’t really understand anyways so you moved on.
“Sooo I’m gonna call someone to come give you a ride.”, you said reaching for your phone.
“A ride…with a horse?”
You smiled, “Uh no in a car with flashing lights that plays a song as it’s driving so people know to get out of the way.”
He looked impressed and nodded his head in acceptance.
“There it is!! I knew that evil witch had it this whole time.”, he suddenly gasped making you jump forgetting about the call you were trying to make.
Yoongi reached over taking the spell book that you had thrown in the box.
“I was looking for this. I knew she had it but she refused to give it back. She probably knew I’d become even stronger with it in my possession.”
“Stronger?”
He nodded, “Yes and then I’d become The Supreme.”
“The Supreme?”
He sighed, “The Supreme Witch. We’re witches. Do they teach nothing at school any more?”
“Sorry I haven’t taken Witches 101 yet. I’ll see if they offer it next semester.”
He shook his head, “Don’t bother. I’ll teach you.”
You sighed but took a seat anyways.
“You see every two hundred years a new supreme is appointed to each coven. A selection of witches go through seven different tests to gage their strengths and weaknesses. My sister and I were in the finale up against each other tied three to three. She knew there was no way she could beat me in the finale test on her own. So somehow she disabled my protector spell while I was sleeping and she used a curse to send me to the twilight. I’ve been stuck there ever since…until you got me out somehow. Are you a witch by the way? What family do you belong to?”
You chuckled, “Yeah definitely not a witch. All I did was read something from that book. It was a page that seemed to be used a lot. Maybe your sister was trying to get you back.” He started flipping though the pages of the book when a photo fell out. It was black and white and low quality but you could still make it out. Yoongi stood smiling next to a woman you figured to be his sister and former neighbor. You could definitely see the resemblance of your former elderly neighbor in the young smiling woman’s face. Yoongi looked exactly the same just with a big gummy smile that made your heart race.
He smirked as he looked over the photo, “Doubt it. We’ve always hated each other.”
He read something on the back that you couldn’t see before tucking the photo in the book.
“Can you take me to the city? I need to speak with someone.”, he suddenly asked.
You checked the time and figured since you were already late for class and probably dead for all you knew at this point, you agreed.
“Sure but first we need to get you to change your clothes.”
Yoongi looked offended, “What’s wrong with my clothes? These are very expensive and in high fashion.”
“Maybe in the 1800s but right now you look ridiculous.”, you chuckled.
Thankfully you had a stash of your brothers clothes that he always forgot whenever he visited you and they might just fit your new friend.
When he finally came downstairs your mouth unapologetically dropped open. You thought he looked good before but this was on a whole other level. The jeans fit perfectly. The tshirt a tinsy tiny bit too tight in the arms and chest area but no one would complain. The Jordans that you knew your brother would kill you if he saw you letting anyone else wear looked like they were made just for Yoongi. He had put his hair in a half up half down situation and you were wondering where he got the hair tie from but you didn’t care because you were ready to buy them in bulk for him anyways.
“NOW I look ridiculous. This is how men dress these days?”, he said feeling insecure with you staring at him.
“You know if we stop at the seamstress I’ll have her patch your brothers pants. Poor guy can’t even afford to fix the holes.”, he continued.
“It’s done on purpose. They’re supposed to look like that.”, you laughed
This time it was Yoongi’s mouth that dropped open, “Wait so he actually pays money to buy pants that already have holes in them?”
You nodded and laughed, “Yeah a lot of money too.”
He shook his head in disbelief.
In the car you showed him how to use the seatbelt and once he was comfortable you started the engine.
“Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday
Seven days a week
Every hour, every minute, every second
You know, night after night
I'll be lovin' you right, seven days a week”, blasted through the speakers reminded you that you were definitely not the same person you were last night so you turned the volume way down.
“Ugh what is that racket?”, Yoongi questioned with his hands over his ears.
“That’s Jungkook. He’s like one of the most popular musicians right now.”
“This is considered music now?!”
“Yeah it is.”, you laughed showing him a photo of Jungkook on your phone.
“He’s adorable.”, Yoongi cooed, “And HE’S the one that sings such a stupid song about days of the week?”
“Well the song is not really about days of the week”.
Yoongi stared waiting for you to continue, “It’s about…it’s about sex.”
His eyes went wide. “And they let that be played to the public?”, he hissed almost more embarrassed than you.
“Yeah this song is pretty mild compared to others.”, you chuckled.
You offered to drive in silence but Yoongi insisted on listening to more of this Jungkook fellows music which you happily obliged.
“Where exactly are we headed? I kind of need to know where to drive.”, you asked.
“Well it’s a book store. It’s right next to the horse stable and across from the general store.”
“Okay well uh I’ll start driving and you tell me if anything looks familiar.”
Yoongi was amazed by all of the new technology. Traffic lights, billboards, hundreds of cars passing by.
“Wait wait wait…So we don’t even have to get out of the car? They just hand us the drink through that little window?”, he asked after you had stopped to use a drive thru for a snack.
You smiled as you watched his eyes light up when he sipped on a pumpkin spice latte completely forgetting about his disdain about it earlier.
Eventually you somehow made it to the location he wanted which also happened to be the campus bookstore.
You followed Yoongi inside and watched as he walked right up to Jimin who was standing at the counter.
“Hi Y/N”, he smiled until he noticed Yoongi standing next to you, “Yo-Yoongi?”
“It’s been a while. How is Emmy?”, he asked.
“She’s good. We have two kids now, two little girls.”
Yoongi nodded, “I’m so glad to hear that. I’d love to meet them.”
“You look good.”, Jimin praised him but Yoongi scoffed, “I look absolutely ridiculous.”
“No man this is what the kids these days are wearing. You fit right in.”
You watched on in awe as you found out that the guy who worked at the campus bookstore whom you at one point had a small crush on was apparently a 250 year old witch who was also married to a fairy. And he was now talking to a 250 year old witch who you accidentally brought back from something called the twilight where his sister, your deceased elder neighbor, sent him over a hundred years or so ago. You thought you were going crazier by the minute.
“So do you have it still?”, you heard Yoongi ask Jimin.
“Yeah uh she dropped it off about six weeks ago. She probably knew her time was coming. I thought about throwing it away since I didn’t think there was any chance but I’m glad I saved it since you’re here.”, he said handing over a small envelope to Yoongi.
“Thank you.”, he nodded before turning to leave the store. You said goodbye and followed after him outside.
Once back in your car he stared at the envelope in his hands. His name elaborately written on the front.
You remained silent realizing that he was going through something. It seemed like he was afraid of whatever was in that letter.
Gently he broke open the seal watching as the letter floated up in front of him and unfolded. A voice that you recognized as your neighbors began to speak,
“Hello brother, Good to see that you finally made it out of the twilight. I admit that I only sent you there because I fully believed you would be able to get yourself out of there in no time.
Honestly every-time a black cat crossed my path I thought it was going to be you. I know they were your favorite to shift into. If I had known that I’d never see you again though, I never would’ve done it. I missed you Yoongi. It was hard going through life without you. I hope that you can forgive me and maybe we can see each other again one day.
I left the spell book with my neighbor. Her name is Y/N. I think you’ll like her. She’s got a good head on her shoulders and there’s something special about her. I can sense it. I think she could be the one.
Take care Yoongi. Love your little sister and still the better witch, Lenora.”
There was a spark and then then letter burst into a hundred little pieces before disappearing into nothing.
“Ar-Are you okay?”, you asked after noticing he hadn’t moved.
He smiled, “Yeah better than I thought I would be. That’s all I ever wanted from her. An apology and to know she was okay.”
You nodded then began to drive home when he cleared his throat, “Y/N, can I court you?”
“I’m sorry, what?”, you chuckled.
“Can I court you? Like we spend time together and talk and hold hands and then kiss and then eventually we partake in the sexual pleasure of each other?”
You choked on air, “Oh you’re asking me out, like on a date?”
“Sure if that’s what you want to call it.”
“Yes I’ll go on a date with you but let’s start with dinner or coffee and then slowly work our way up to sexual pleasures.”, you smiled hoping he couldn’t see you blush.
He shrugged his shoulders, “I mean you did call me hot and I have been told that my tongue can work magic on the body that no spell could ever do but suit yourself. We can stick to pumpkin spice lattes if you’d prefer.”
You awkwardly laughed before deciding to hit the gas pedal just a tiny bit harder.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Human nature and emotions were so strange. Peculiar, how extreme they could be. It was like magic, how strange people could be or act in general. How rage could transform a person momentarily, how joy could bring people out of the darkness. Love though, Love was stronger than any other emotion. It was stronger and more powerful. A black magic of sorts that would take over and change you into someone completely different.
And you had just been hit by its spell.
Part of you didn't entirely understand why you caved to his every whim. Why the tiniest frown and gleaming of eyes could make your stomach swirl and instantly feel guilty.
The rest of you... it-it knew. Knew that you were wrapped so tightly around his finger you might shatter if you did something wrong. Knew how the smallest glimpse of his smile would send your heart racing and make you weak in the knees.
Damian Wayne had a magic of some kind, and you were completely and totally enchanted. So enchanted you sometimes forget the way the world actually works and that you should think before you speak. Unfortunately, tonight just so happened to be a night that his magic overcame you.
Drearily blinking, you found yourself curled into Damian's side. His breathing was slow and steady, calming, even. For a moment you almost drifted back into that peaceful bliss of sleep.
However, your mind jumped. Making you realize how close you were to him and that- that... you probably shouldn't be. No- no you definitely shouldn't be.
Here and now, he was vulnerable, and he hated being vulnerable in front of people. You couldn't stay, if you did, he'd be upset and- and... and you really really hate it when he's upset with you.
Slowly slipping from his grasp, you dropped towards the floor, hoping that you won't startle him awake. Sneaking towards the door you take a moment to look over your shoulder, he took a breath in before letting it out softly. Closing your eyes for a moment you let out a small sigh of relief.
He was still asleep, thank goodness. Part of you didn't want to leave, seeing him so peaceful and happy made something warm bubble in you. However, you knew you had to go, for him and for you. After all you have been here for a while... Wait, how long have you been here?
Sliding out the door you peered around the corner, hoping to see someone wandering around who you could ask. Instead, you are met by pitch darkness and an eerie quiet that shook you to your core.
Oh god, what time was it?
Half scrambling down the stairs you bit your lip. Please oh please don't be morning yet. Your mother would kill you if you stayed out all night.
Clock, clock... where oh where is a clock? Where was the closest one??? Living room? No Steph and Duke broke that one yesterday with their Wii sports tournament. Anywhere else made your mind spin and then- then a thought rose up suddenly.
The kitchen.
Yes, yes, the kitchen should have a clock... and a phone.
The more you moved through the darkness the later you thought it was. Was it four? five? Oh god, please let it be the same day. Blinking, a bit, you noted light seeping under the door rather absentmindedly.
Your hand pushed the door open, and you found the blinking numbers on the microwave. They sent a tumble of nerves straight to your stomach.
Two am. It was two fucking am.
How in hell were you going to survive this? It was a twenty-minute drive home and at minimum, a two-hour walk. There was no way you'd make it home before the sun came up.
A clatter dragged you from your thoughts and you looked up to see a man sitting at the table. He had short dark hair with a white streak through a front section. His eyes were greenish, not as green as Damian's but something about them seemed similar.
It took you no more than a second to notice he was not wearing a shirt. And your brain froze, your thoughts suddenly deciding to spill out.
"Hello dummy thicc man."
Silence followed and a snort of sorts. You blinked seeing a smile stretched across the man's face. Heat flushed through you, and you closed your eyes.
"Dammit. I said that aloud, didn't I?"
The man nodded, leaning forward ever so slightly. He winced instantly and you then spotted the bloodied spot on his torso.
"Holy shit, you're bleeding!"
A weak smile was now on the man's face, and he nodded. Your eyes went wide and your hands darted forwards.
"Are you going to be, okay?"
"Yeah, Alfie's takin care of me.'' He looked you over and snorted once again, "you're the gremlin's?"
Your brow furrowed and you tilted your head before blinking a few times.
“Uh, if you mean Damian, yeah I’m his friend.”
A smirk of sorts worked its way onto his face, and you began fiddling with your fingers.
"I'm y/n." You weakly say.
"Jason... though you probably know me as Todd."
You clamped your mouth shut as a wave of laughter built up in you. Somehow, he had managed to almost mimic Damian perfectly. Looking away from him you squeezed your eyes shut as a giggle of sorts escaped you.
Finally, you looked back to Jason- no Todd... oh yeah. You had heard about him. Nothing really bad though. Strange, though him never being around probably contributed to that.
"The gremlin does have a type. Waffles was right."
You tilted your head again, narrowing your eyes ever so slightly. Waffles? Who could be waffles? you opened your mouth to question the nickname when a door swung open. You froze, only to see Alfred carrying a tray filled with bandages and antiseptics.
"Uh, hi."
Alfred smiled at you before setting the tray on the table. Jason instantly began reaching for things only for Alfred to whack his hand without looking away from you.
"I'm glad to see you, Mx Y/n. Did you sleep well?"
You nodded and heard the door behind you open. You then noticed a strange smile slide onto Alfred's face and Jason snorted again shaking his head.
"Hello Master Damian."
Looking over your shoulder in a little bit of horror, you found Damian behind you rubbing his eyes, his hair disheveled and pointing in many directions.
"Pennyworth," He yawned, "Todd."
Jason grunts in greeting and you stand frozen staring at Damian, your mind racing. Were you too loud? Did you wake him up? Was he upset?
"Y/n," Damian then said, holding out his hand, "come on."
"Huh?"
"We should go back to bed. School starts early tomorrow. Father would be very upset if he knew I was awake."
"Uh, but- I- why are you awake?"
"You left." He said with a slight, "duh." At the end.
You went very still as his words began to run rampant in your head. Did that mean you woke him up when you left? Were you too loud slipping out the door? Did you hop off the bed too sharply?
A hand took yours and you blinked, finding Damian before you. He pulled at your hand slightly. "Come on."
"But- it- it's two. My mom- she's-"
"We informed your mother that you would be staying the night. You do not need to worry Mx. Y/n." Alfred suddenly chimed in.
Looking back towards him you raised an eyebrow; he was nonchalantly wrapping a bandage around Jason's torso. Tilting to the side you notice ripped abs. You only managed a quick glance before Damian pulled you from the room.
"It's time to sleep Y/n."
Turning back towards Damian you smiled before following after him.
"Coming."
A Wish for Eternity
Astarion x gn!magical!tav
A/n: am I madly in love with this elf? Yes. Do I wish to bring him everything he hoped and dreamed of? Also, yes. Hence, here I am, thinking about what happens after the epilogue, did he search for a way? If you play as a sorcerer or wizard, once you are at a higher level (not in the game), there is a certain spell that could achieve your hopes and dreams. So, what if…? Anyway, happy fluffy valentine's day!
Synopsis: a long journey of travelling through every corner of Faerûn for what seems to be an eternity. Luck sure isn’t on your side in your quest to find a mythical item, a cloak. Rumoured to be special, you are determined to find it, with your nightwalking partner, Astarion. But, fate has other things on its mind.
Word: 2,344
6 months after you reunited heartfelt celebrations with inebriated companions; the night never seems to cease with boundless alcohols and dancing to lively tunes until your feet refuse to leave the ground. Through thick and thin, nonetheless, such an adventure weaved you all together at the stake of Baldur’s gate.
At the right place, at the right time.
In a blink of an eye, another 6 months had gone by. On your quest, you trek through the marsh terrain on your journey and strangle a few swamp things; scorched and burned under the dry heat of the sun and almost meet your fatal death by getting swallowed up inside a giant sandworm; and almost, almost, stepped into the fey realm by no fault of your own. Suppose it wasn’t for a certain trickster. A very lovable trickster, mind you.
The relentless quest to acquire an article of clothing—a rare magical item; enchanted with each woven of threads. A cloak, to be exact, that was once said to have been created by drows of the Underdark. To allow one that’s weak in sunlight to walk freely under the blistering sun.
You first heard about this mystic item from none other than Gale. The wizard was lost in his recent reverie of taking upon the role of teaching, to no surprise. One night, while holed up in his tower, flicking through weathered pages of tomes, when he came across the wonders of this cloak. Intrigued, as he may be, wanting to study the magic behind this unique fabric. After all, a little more knowledge wouldn’t hurt.
But, it seems others require it more than him. Lo and behold, he appears when you think your luck has run out. Seems like Tymora has finally blessed you with a pat on the back, who would say no to divine intervention?
Although this is a solution to your current situation, it all just seems too good to be true. A flimsy piece of garment is your answer? You could swipe a black cloak from the market and enchant it yourself. Though you are well-versed in magic, enchanting items aren’t really your forte. Nor are you of drow descent to know such ways of crafting.
You had your doubts about this cloak, however, you do not doubt the reliability of Gale. If he said such a thing exists, then it must be credible.
Month after month of tracking your journey—based on one rumour that gossamer across Faerûn. With every possible lead, you travelled across the continent of the cityscape to the underworld. This endless journey may be gruesome, but you didn’t do it alone. Your lover, Astarion, walks amongst your shadow. By day, you are his shield protecting him under the blazing sun. At night, he swore as your sword to cut through the lurking dangers of the dark.
The Sun and its Moon.
He is the reason why you’re on this journey in the first place. To bring him the sunlight once more, to breathe in the life of the Pelor over the vast lands that were taken from him when he was still young. But the chances of finding this cloak are getting slimmer by day—like water slipping through the cracks of your hand.
Astarion’s hope is getting dimmer, too. You tried to reassure him that you were certain the both of you were getting close; maybe you were just not looking at the right places.
Of course, he brushes you off with a smile and jokes that he’s not that interested in it because ‘cloaks cramp his style’. He persuades you not to mind it so much. Or, hoping you’d be the mirror reverberating back to him instead. But you can see right through the facade. Pride. Shame. Disappointment. All too familiar.
The guilt is rubbing off on you. When you talked him out of ascension, you believed that it would be the best decision for him. You were no better than the others.
No. This shouldn’t be the answer. If the cloak’s got you nowhere then you just have to look at this situation from a different perspective. Take matters into your own hands, even if danger is on deck. At the very least, you have to try.
You made camp for the night; a quaint spot overlooking the horizon that joins the sky and the sea, with the moon taking stage in a cloudless canvas. The pale elf took charge of the campfire with a stick in his hand to poke the flame. Next to him, you lie down with your hands weaving through the air, connecting the stars together, making a revelation to your own understanding of your magic. It flows through you like the air that you breathe; like calm waters gliding your hands.
This might be the perfect time to ask, though wyverns gnaw at your stomach, you’ve run through this scenario millions of times in your head. You’re prepared, you think.
The lavender and turquoise hue dissipates from your fingertips, you steal a glance in Astarion’s direction and sit up amid his distraction.
“If you’re getting tired, you should sleep first. I’ll join you in a little while.” He chimes out.
His little ritual, you’ve noticed. Whenever the two of you opted to camp in the arms of nature instead of paying for a tavern’s night and listening to drunk patrons shouting till the break of dawn. He would lay with you in your bedroll until you fell asleep, then as quiet as a mouse, he’d get up an hour or two just before sunrise. You’d caught him once, just as curiosity nips at you, slipping out of the tent and finding him sitting in the open field with the blades of grass swaying to its own rhythm. Just watching, waiting. Waiting to catch a glimpse of the sun, as it slowly casts life back to the lands, before the ray decays him. The light sears his skin and cracks like dry paint, biting down the pain as much as possible until he’s bound back to the shadows. Then you’ll find him in bed again like nothing ever happened.
“Astarion?”
“Yes, darling?” He hummed.
“What if…” you hesitated, “what if we stop looking for this cloak?” Your voice wavered at the end of your sentence.
The stick in his hand stopped. You can see it, the thoughts forming in his mind like a potion. Stunned, confusion and a drop of anger concocted in muddy colour. But like a cork on top, he bottled it up when he soon turned to face you, the warm glow lit up his plastic grin.
“Oh, heavens! I forgot about that until you’ve brought it up.” His voice is in a higher octave. A string of vicious mockery disguising his lie, in all honesty, stings more than you think.
“No, that’s not—let me rephrase this. W-what I’m trying to say is, how about we look for a different method?” You asked, hands fidgeting more than usual.
His crimson gaze pierced in you, they engulfed and tangled like flames, wanting to swallow you whole till you’re nothing but a pile of ashes. “Vampirism isn’t an illness or a wound. If a person dies, they could be resurrected. But I’m too far gone beyond the point of living now, darling. There is no other way.” He snarled, snapping his gaze away before he could say something he truly regrets.
“But..there is another way.” Your voice comes out with nothing short of a whisper. Astarion’s shoulders slumped as he perceived your words, now fire in his eyes had extinguished and reflected with the solemn of moonlight.
Hope.
You spring onto your feet and take his hands into yours, thumb gently caressing his skin.
“Don’t give me any hope. 200 years of hoping for hope has tormented me endlessly that I do not want to be part of it again. Please…I do not have the heart to take this…” Astarion whimpered. You can hear the sob suppressed in his throat for the last 200 years as his hands tremble, emotions so vulnerable and unravelled right in front of you that he so desperately tried to hide. It shouldn’t be like this. It breaks your heart to see the man earning his freedom, yet the illusions of shackles are still tying him down.
It is unfair.
You grip his hands tighter to your heart, biting down the tears threatening to spill. “When there’s a will, there is a way,” You smiled. “Astarion Ancunin, what is it that you wish for?”
“What? But—I don’t understand—“ his brows furrow trying to make sense of your words but failing. Yet, he can feel a tingle at the back of his neck. A sign.
“Please, Astarion. Tell me your wish.”
The warning bells in his mind are telling him to run, to end this conversation right here, right now. But the fluttering feeling in his gut is saying ‘This is it. This is the moment you’ve been desperately trying to find’. Now the sparkle in your eyes is drawing him in, things that he had been longing for, and the love you are showing him. The sign he’d desperately prayed to the gods for all these years.
“I wish…” he trailed off, “I wish to walk in the sun again. I wish to see this world in the light that I was created in; I wish to take back the life that was ripped away from me for all these years, in darkness and torment, to have what is rightfully mine.
I wish to live again.”
The soil beneath your feet vibrates and crackles, the fabric of your clothes softly ripples in the air; a lavender beam emerges through and etches your runes, circling a gateway around both of you.
“Then, your wish is my command.”
Statics channelling in the air as you tune yourself to the weave. You can feel it. You can feel it all—the dark musk of ember, the evergreen blades rustle, the crashing of ocean waves. Magic tying deep into the burrows of the Earth willing to your command, feeding brighter into your rune as you hold on to its reins. But, the power of this spell is not without a cost, like gravity dragging you down. Your face breaks into sweat with the force burning in your gut.
“Stop that! You’re killing yourself!” Astarion struggles to break free from your grasp.
“Don’t—I’m almost there!”
A sinking pressure presses in Astarion’s chest; it’s warm, then burns aflame but it does not hurt; the pressure pushes deeper, searing through his organs and scratches at each porous of his rib cage. And then, gone.
The sound of silence.
Your legs give out as you crumble onto the floor, ready for impact. With a swift motion, Astarion catches you in his arms and carefully lays you in his lap. His mouth opens, ready to protest with his snarky remarks but closes it again, brushing away strands of stray hair from your battered face.
You chuckled breathlessly, reaching your hand, heavy as it may, and cupped his face. “Your wish has been granted.”
The sky begins to transition in lilac as dawn breaks, the ocean glimmers on the horizon and songbirds sing their tunes again. The red flaming ball peeked through the crystal water, bringing out the soft glow of orange. As the first ray of light shines, the warmth of it carries. Hungry, delicate, a sign of life.
“I’m…alive.”
A gentle breeze picks up and brushes against his cheek; hot tears spew from the corner of his eyes. So naturally warm. So, very warm. The silvery strands swayed to the rhythm of the wind, and he inhaled deeply, as much as his frail body could hold, the nostalgic scent of sunshine, like a spring afternoon.
Then, an unfamiliar familiar sense came. A thud. And another. Something rattling endlessly at his ribcage threatening to come out and yet staying in its place, a rhythmic humming coursing through his chest to the tips of his fingers. A sound so loud thumping and yet so quiet as a whisper in his ear. A sense of jamais vu.
“You'll always be who you are. No matter what you've become—a vampire or not. I will love you as long as life continues to breathe on these vast lands. And till the end of time."
Astarion squeezes you into a tight hug. He’s trembling in your embrace, and catching you off guard, he bursts into a fit of laughter. Maybe even your first time to hear him laughing with such carefree manner but the heat of his tears travels to your shoulder. Your hand finds its way to his soft locks, petting him as you melt deeper into his touch.
He pulls back, eyes frantically searching your face. “I-I don’t—I can’t—“ he clears his throat, “thank you, my love.”
He cups your cheeks and gravitates towards your lips. Sweet and velvety, your lips curl at his kiss. He pulls away just enough to admire your features; cheeks flushed rosy and eyes bright and confident. Everything about you is love-touched, that after centuries, someone could cut through the world to bring him back into the light.
“Now, are you going to stare at me all morning, or are we going to get some breakfast?” You teased.
“Actually, I was thinking,” Astarion eyes you up and down. Whenever he has some brilliant idea, it’s never a good one. “The tent’s been empty all night, and I think we should, um, keep our bedrolls warm, at least.”
His hand slithers its way under the hem of your shirt, running a hand at your soft curves. You sigh in defeat, knowing you could never say no to his lovable face.
“Fine. I guess breakfast can wait.” You smirk.
Hands flew to the collar of his shirt as you yank him down to your lips. You parted them slightly, an invitation for him to deepen his kiss, teeth included. It might be a long morning, but there are plenty of mornings yet to come.
forgive me
Gale x GN!Tav
SPOILERS FOR BG3
hurt/no comfort ~ they/them pronouns ~ not proof read
You clutched your side as blood seeped through your armor. Corpses were littered at your feet. The fight with the Netherbrain had been going catastrophically bad. Astarion and Shadowheart were barely clinging to life, their broken bodies fighting to keep moving. The Emperor could hardly make it close enough to the crown, all of his attempts trampled by the other mind flayers.
Gale was close beside you, providing you with healing potions as you two moved closer towards the crown. Gale’s hands held tightly to his staff, his mind wandering to the orb that was stuck deep within him. If he could convince you that it was worth it, that his sacrifice would not be in vain, maybe he could save them, all of them.
“My love,” Gale started as he cast fireball on the swarm of tentacles surrounding the two. “We’ve tried our best, but it seems victory is beyond our grasp. Well, at least a victory in which we live to tell the tale.”
“Gale, now isn’t the time,” You knew exactly what Gale was about to say, and you wouldn’t be having any of his shit. You gritted your teeth as you raised your sword to cut down the enemy in front of you. “We’re almost there, we’ll be fine.”
“Shadowheart and Astarion can barely move, you’re on your last legs,” Another fireball crackled through the air Gale hurled the flaming orb into the mind flayers beside them. “We have a chance, a chance I can bring.”
“No Gale!” You whipped your head at him, your lips trembling. “We’re fine, everything is fine! You don’t-” A blade pierced straight through your stomach. The pain didn’t quite hit you as the blade was torn right out of you. You both stared at each other for a moment, time slowing as you collapsed to the ground.
Gale was quick to react, catching you in his arms and casting a globe of invulnerability. He was frantically trying to stop the bleeding, his hand pressed tightly to your stomach, “Shit shit,” There was a clear panic in his voice as he dug for a healing potion with the free hand. Shadowheart was too far away to cast a healing spell, and if he took you out of the globe you'd both be screwed.
You hissed as the pain began to bleed through their body. It burned like a raging fire, flashes of hot and cold running through you. You inhaled deeply, your body wriggling to escape the discomfort.
“Stop moving you’re only making it worse,” Gale’s voice was shaky, and so were his hands. You couldn’t keep going, no one could. Well, everyone except Gale.
He leaned down, pressing a kiss to your forehead, then pulled back, leaning you carefully onto the ground. Something clicked in you as you felt your lover’s lips against your skin. The searing pain didn’t matter, not nearly as much as stopping Gale from whatever stupid fucking decision he was about to make. You reached out, gripped tightly to his arm, “Gale, please don’t do this,” The desperation in your voice caused Gale’s chest to tighten.
“Look at you, my love, you’re in no condition to fight, not anymore.”
“I can fight! I promise!”
The golden globe protecting the couple began to crack; it would break any second now, “I love you, and I know that beyond me you will live such a wonderful life, one you can be proud of,” Gale wrapped his arms gently around your frame, feeling your warm blood soak his robe. “And I know that in order for you to live that life, you need to survive this damn battle.”
“But a life without you isn’t one I can be proud of,” Tears slipped down your cheeks as you clutched tightly to your partner. “We can figure out another way I swear.”
"I hope you'll forgive me." Golden specks fell from above you, magic glimmering around you as Gale gave them a sad smile, “You’re so beautiful,” He sighed. “How I will miss your face.”
Everything happened within seconds. The world around you went black, then white as your eyes adjusted to the new scenery. The docks of Baldur’s Gate is where you had ended up; you and the rest of the crew.
But Gale was nowhere to be found.
“Where’s Gale?” You panicked, wiping your head in every direction, desperately searching for your lover amongst your companions. Everyone did the same, hoping they would be able to find him for your sake.
The explosion rang through the air, making everyone’s ears ring as it did so. You covered your ears as you turned to the direction of the sound. You refused to believe what had just happened as you watched swirls of purple fill the yellow sunrise.
Sobs filled the air as you screamed; your voice cracked, your vocal cords felt like they were being shredded as you clutched your relentlessly beating heart. The sharp stab in your chest was enough for you to forget the bleeding hole in your stomach.
No one knew what to say as they watched their companion cry. It was almost foreign to the group. Sure, you emoted a lot, all kinds of emotions, but nothing to this degree of intense or heartbreaking.
Astarion moved first, taking a seat beside you as you cried. His arm wrapped around your shoulders in an awkward side hug. This was enough for the others to gather around, sitting with you while you mourned the death of your lover.
TREVELYAN II • ROMANCE
for veilguard30 day 3 — romance | with the iron bull | extra tags: biting and aftercare | 514 words | full collection here
“Didn’t hurt your shoulder too bad, did I, kadan?”
“I didn’t say katoh, did I?” Arthur replies, rolling the bloodied shoulder back and forth a few times. There is an ache, but nothing worse than what Bull could give him with a well placed strike of a switch. Glancing down at it, it looks worse than it feels.
Instinctively, he reaches up to touch the wound, the gentle glow of healing magic rising to the tip of his fingers. Bull is quick to grab his wrist, the Anchor crackling in protest at the denial of a spell. He does not hold it too tight, just firm enough for a callused thumb to press up against a pulse. “What did I say about the healing magic?” It’s a gentle reminder, nothing like the tone Bull takes on when he wishes to play the greedy brat intending to test his lover’s patience and mercy.
“That it is unnecessary.”
“Good.” Arthur’s magic had been a point of contention between them, when and where it would be allowed during their play. Bull had been quick to tell him his healing magic was not needed in aftercare, that it’s important for their roles that any injuries Arthur might take can be treated by him. You spend all that time patching me up on the battlefield, boss. This is my responsibility. Bull brings his palm, forever marked by the Anchor to his lips and kisses it with the tenderness he reserves for these moments, before releasing Arthur’s wrist. “I’ll just be a moment, kadan.”
As Bull leaves his side — to get the salve, the bowl of warm water — Arthur pushes himself up to sit, feeling every little ache from where Bull had leveraged his strength over him, before pushing his greying hair to one side.
Their aftercare is always quiet, Bull having picked up on Arthur’s need for it in their first encounter— to not risk overstimulation or an emotional drop from him after more intense scenes. Occasionally, he asks Arthur questions, but only to confirm that he is well and that there is no lingering damage as he cleans the blood away; then comes the elfroot salve — a cooling balm against the heat prickling his skin, practiced fingers massaging it in. Arthur’s hums of approval, arching into his lover’s touch is enough of an affirmation that he is well.
Once he is satisfied, Bull places a kiss atop the bite mark. There will be bruising there, dapples of dark red, purple and black against his warm brown skin, but they are bruises he will wear proudly, just like the patterns of rope biting into his arms, ones he want as a reminder to himself that he is not some untouchable saint but a man with earthly desires.
He feels more at peace here, with a man he did not think he would fall in love with, than anywhere else. That is more than he could have ever hoped for, and now he never wants to let that go — he’s earned a little selfishness amidst the myth of his selflessness.
Part 1 ✧Part 2 (you're here)✧Part 3✧Part 4 (coming soon!)
Lilia had hoped the two of them would stay at the orphanage together and live their lives caring for the children while secretly caring for each other as lovers. It was the beginning of a new chapter in their relationship, one filled with love, trust, and a newfound sense of joy. But fate had other plans in store for him, which was made clear to him in the moment.
"Lilia, my dear general,” the Fae King greeted Lilia with a warm smile, but it quickly faded as he got straight to the point. “I'm afraid I have some grave news to share with you," he said.
The throne room was decorated in a gothic style, with black stone walls and ornate carvings that seemed to watch him as he walked. The room was filled with a solemn atmosphere, the only light came from the flickering candles with green flames scattered throughout the room. At the end of the room, on a raised dais, lay the Fae King's throne, carved from obsidian and adorned with sharp spikes and intricate, twisted patterns. Lilia had been in the room many times before, he remembered the times when he discussed war strategies with the Fae King, the times when he gave his all for his people, and the times when he made choices he wasn't proud of. This meeting would be different than any other he has had before, and the ominous atmosphere of the throne room only added to his apprehension.
Lilia had been washing bedsheets by the river when the guards of the Fae King approached him. His expression unreadable, he asked, "What brings you here?", trying to sound casual, but his voice was tense.
The guards relayed that the King summoned him to his court. Lilia could only accept, knowing that a summon from the Fae King was not to be taken lightly. After quickly casting a spell to teleport the laundry back to the orphanage, he closed his eyes and concentrated, the air around him shimmered and distorted. The trees and riverbank of the human world faded away, replaced by the familiar sights of his homeland. The sound of rushing water was replaced by the quiet hum of magical energy, and the air smelled of burning candles and fresh roses. He was in front of the King's castle when he opened his eyes once more.
Lilia knelt before the Fae King, his eyes fixed on the ground as he spoke. "What is this news you speak of, your majesty?" He sensed that the King's sudden seriousness might indicate that something was amiss.
The King replied in a low, menacing voice, "General Vanrouge, I have decided that we will wage war on the humans once again."
Lilia froze in shock as he heard the words. He had hoped that the days of war were behind them, that they could all live in peace now, and that he could continue enjoying his peaceful life with his beloved. He knew he couldn't bring himself to do it again, to face the devastating consequences of taking countless lives once again.
"Your Majesty, another war? Why must we continue this cycle of violence? Is there not a better way to coexist with the humans? We have already lost so much in the last war. Can we not find a peaceful solution?" Lilia pleaded.
"Peace? With those filthy humans? They will never stop until they have wiped us off the face of the earth. We must strike first, and strike hard," the King scorned in disgust.
"But your Majesty-"
"Silence, general," the King's face contorted in rage, his brows furrowing. His entire body tensed as he pounded his fist on the armrest of his throne, staring daggers into Lilia. You dare defy me? You forget your place as my general and my subject!", he hissed, resonating around the room with all the authority of a king.
Lilia kept his head low and continued to kneel. Knowing the King's temper well, he knew it would not be wise to provoke him further, but he knew he had to make a choice. Either he would obey the King's orders and risk losing everything he had grown to cherish, or he would defy him and face the consequences.
"Your Majesty," he replied steadily. "I cannot in good conscience wage another war on the humans. We have already caused them enough suffering. I will not take part in this war,"
The King's expression darkened. "Do not question my decisions, Lilia. You are a loyal subject of the Fae Kingdom and you will do as I command."
Lilia stood his ground, even in the face of the King's increasing wrath. "I am not just your subject, your majesty. I am a living being with my own conscience and beliefs."
The King’s eyes narrowed to slits as he glared ferociously, "What changed? What has caused this shift in your loyalty?"
Lilia hesitated for a moment before answering, "I have seen the good in humans, your Majesty. They are not all evil, and they do not deserve to suffer because of past grievances."
The King scoffed, "Is it the human you've gotten close to who has led you astray?"
Lilia was taken aback by his words, instinctively looking up, realising that the King had been keeping an eye on him in his travels. Quickly straightening his posture, he met the King's gaze head-on. "No, your Majesty. The human has only shown me kindness and compassion. They have nothing to do with my beliefs."
The King stood, his height towering over the general, step by step walking closer to him. "You have become soft, my general," he said with disdain. "You are a hypocrite. You have always despised humans, you were at the battlefronts annihilating the human forces, yet now you protect one of them. Have you no shame?"
Lilia looked directly into the King’s eyes as a shiver went through his body. "I have come to learn that my past actions were mistaken," he replied. "I no longer wish to continue down the path of destruction I once walked on."
The Fae King sneered. "Mistaken...", he spat. "Humans are nothing but weaklings. They are not fit to be with our kind. You have betrayed your people, Vanrouge. You have betrayed your King."
Lilia could tell from the force his boots hit the ground that he was furious as he continued walking closer, his eyes cold and calculating. "If you do not wage war on the humans, then there is only one other option," he said. "You must eliminate the source of your weakness. Kill the human."
Lilia's body shook with horror at the King's words. He felt sweat gather on his palms, his breath quickening. After a few moments of silence, he spoke up, his voice trembling with emotion.
"Please, my King," Lilia said, desperation creeping into his voice. "I cannot do what you ask of me. I cannot harm them."
The King's eyes narrowed, "You will do as I say, or you will suffer the consequences. You are my general, and you will not show weakness. If you fail to end their life, then rest assured my dear general, I shall finish the job myself. Your disgraceful actions shan't taint our reputation as Fae."
Lilia felt a tear escape his eye as he realised the gravity of his situation. His mind raced with conflicting thoughts; he wanted to stand up to the King, to tell him that he wouldn't kill the human, that he wouldn't wage another war on the humans. But he knew deep down that he was too weak, that he didn't have the strength or the power to take on the King and his army as he was.
"I understand, my King," he said, his voice barely above a whisper.
Lilia felt a cold shiver run down his spine as he rose from his kneeling position and turned to leave the throne room, knowing that he had just sealed his own fate.
He had no choice but to obey. And he only had himself to blame.
The moon was full, casting an eerie glow on the buildings around Lilia as he trudged towards the orphanage, feeling the weight of his mission heavy on his shoulders. Pushing the door open, he quietly crept inside, making his way through the dark corridors, the only sound being the soft patter of his feet.
Finally, he arrived at the room of his beloved. Lilia took a deep breath and raised his hand to knock, his sword held tightly in his other hand. But when stood there, the reality of his task hit him like an immense wave, making his resolve waver as his mind raced with conflicting thoughts.
"I can't do this," he whispered to himself. "I can't... take their life."
Just as he was about to lower his hand and turn away, the door creaked open, and his beloved appeared, confusion etched onto their face. The moment they caught sight of his sword, fear flickered in their eyes.
"Lilia, what are you doing?" they asked, stepping back.
Tears welled up in Lilia's eyes, blurring his vision. His sword shook as he tried to steady himself. "I... I have to do this," he stammered.
His beloved's expression turned to one of horror and disbelief. "You can't be serious," they gasp. But as they look at Lilia, they see the turmoil in his eyes and the way his hand shakes. "Please, tell me what's going on."
Lilia closed his eyes in an attempt to blink away the tears. He tried to push the sword towards them, but his hand refused to move. "I can't do it, my love," he cried out. "I love you too much to hurt you."
As Lilia looked into their eyes, he knew he could no longer hide the truth from them. "Beastie," he whispered, "I have to leave. The Fae King wants you dead, and I've been ordered to kill you. I can't disobey him."
The human was stunned, their body trembling in shock. "You... you have to kill me?" they echoed, their voice unsteady as tear began to flow freely from their eyes.
Lilia nods, his tears of sorrow continued trickling down his cheeks. "I'm so sorry, Beastie," he sobbed, taking their hand into his. "I never meant to hurt you. Please forgive me, it's all my fault."
As Lilia stepped closer, trying to see their expression through his blurry eyesight, he was surprised to see acceptance in their eyes. "Lilia, it's okay," they said softly. "I understand."
Lilia stopped in his tracks, his grip on the sword tightening. He couldn't believe what he was hearing. This was the person he loved, and they were accepting their fate. "I can't do it, Beastie," he said, his voice breaking. "I love you too much to hurt you."
Their gentle smile, filled with care and affection as it always had only made Lilia's heart ache even more. "I know, Lilia," they said, their eyes filling with tears, their lashes wet and clumped together as the tears overflowed onto their cheeks. "I know... I love you too."
They stepped closer to him and wrapped their arms around his trembling form, forcefully leaning in and mashing their lips onto his. Lilia could only stand there frozen, eyes widened in surprise at their sudden actions. He felt as a warmth seeped onto his hands, and it is only then he realises what they have done.
He pulls back immediately, looking down at his hands coated in red, the scent of iron thick in the air. The sword is lodged deep into his beloved's chest.
"No, no, no," Lilia cried, his mind racing. "What... what have you done...? What have I done?"
All too soon, their strength began to leave their body, causing them to stumble forward. Lilia rushes to hold them in his arms, cradling them tenderly as he feels their life slipping away. Despite years of fighting on the battlefield, unwavering in the face of death, he now felt overwhelmed, the prickly sensation in his heart more intense than ever before.
"I did it for you," they whispered weakly, their breaths becoming shallower by the second. "I couldn't bear the thought of you having to choose between your duty and your love. This way, you don't have to."
Lilia's heart shattered as he heard their words. They had sacrificed themselves for him, and now he was left to face the repercussions alone.
"Why did you have to love me?" Lilia whispered, droplets of tears falling onto their face. "If only- If only I hadn’t gotten close to you..."
As Lilia turned towards them, he was met with a gaze filled with love and forgiveness. Their hand reached up and tenderly cupped his cheek, his tears leaving a moist trail on his skin as they wiped them away with the palm of their hand. "It's okay, Lilia," they whisper. "I forgive you."
Their words of comfort fail to bring him relief however, knowing that his actions have caused irreparable harm. If only he could turn back time, undo everything that led to this moment. Perhaps if he had not met them that fateful day, not stayed with them, not fallen in love with them, they would be living a peaceful life, never to be endangered by him. But it is too late for his regrets now.
"Lilia?" they murmured.
"Yes, Beastie?" he whispered, choked with emotion.
"I love you," they said softly, their arm lost its strength and began to fall to their side, but Lilia cupped his hand over theirs, holding it in place. "Will you… sing for me?" they whispered, eyes fluttering closed.
Lilia lifts his tear-streaked face to meet their gaze and nods solemnly, taking a deep breath. He holds them close and sings a lullaby, a melody that brings peace and comfort to even the most restless soul. The very song that he used to sing for them in the forest under the moonlight.
“Through the endless daydream,
I saw you on the way back.
There I walked with you in my arms.
Through the blurry darkness,
who's veiling on the twilight,
we've been far away from my fears...
Hush, now my angel,
I will always be with you.
In your pretty smile,
in a glow of tears,
out across the frosty night,
I'll be there with you...”
His voice is soft and choked with emotion, his heart breaking with each passing moment. But he continues to sing, pouring his love and sorrow into each note as the song echoes through the room, soothing and peaceful. It's as if time had stopped, and nothing else mattered in that moment.
As the song came to an end, his beloved took their final breath and passed away peacefully with a gentle smile, content in the arms of their lover. Lilia embraced them tightly, tears cascading down his face like rain, grieving the loss of his beloved. His hands trembled as he struggled to accept the reality of what had just happened. Despite his promise to protect them, he had taken their life. He had killed the person he loved most in the world, the one who had accepted his fate with open arms. He had failed them, failed himself, and failed everyone he had ever cared for. Lilia's heart felt as though it was being ripped from his chest as he let out a heart-wrenching cry filled with agony. He had never felt so alone in all his centuries of existence.
He had distinguished the only light in his life.
Nothing else mattered anymore.
For what reason could he live on, in a world of darkness without his dearest star?
In that moment, he made a decision. He couldn't live with himself anymore. He didn't want to live in a world without his dearest human. Eyes devoid of light, the same full red that stained his fingers, he pulled out the same sword that had taken his beloved's life and pointed it to his heart, ready to take his.
Suddenly, a gust of wind shook the entire room, and a bolt of lightning struck a nearby tree, splitting it in half with a deafening crack. A loud roar of thunder followed, halting Lilia in his actions. And then, he heard a voice—not from the Fae King, nor from his human, but from someone far more powerful.
The voice resounded throughout the sky, "You have taken the life of our beloved child. You have been bestowed the punishment of immortality. You will live forever, unable to die until you have atoned for your sin. You will wander the earth alone for centuries, seeking redemption for your actions. You will only be released from your curse when your true love ends you," it declared. With another roar of thunder, the gods disappeared, leaving Lilia alone.
Lilia felt a rush of power surge through his body. He closed his eyes, feeling the energy course through his veins, and he knew that he was no longer a mere mortal. His senses sharpened, and he could feel the world around him in a way that he never had before. The colours seemed brighter, the scents more potent, and the sounds clearer. At first, the sensation was overwhelming, and he clutched his head hoping for it to stop. But then, as he steadied himself, a sense of clarity washed over him. He would never be able to join his dearest in the afterlife, forever haunted by the memory of their death. He wondered how he would survive without them, how he would endure the weight of his guilt and the emptiness that now filled his heart. He wished with all of his being that he could turn back time and undo everything, but it could never be possible.
Lilia carried their lifeless body to the field where they first met, and with trembling hands, he dug a grave for them. As he placed them gently inside, he covered them with earth and flowers, whispering promises to them all the while.
"My love, I'm so sorry. I failed to protect you," Lilia said, his voice shaking with emotion. "But I promise to make it right. I'll honour your memory and ensure that your kindness lives on. Beastie, I'll love you for all eternity."
Lilia then made a vow to make amends for his past mistakes and to honour their memory by living a life of compassion and kindness towards humans. "I'll spend the rest of my immortal life working to make the world a better place and to make up for the pain I've caused, a place where innocent souls like yours wouldn’t be caught in war," he declared to the empty field.
And the first step he must take, is to stop the incoming war.
Once again, Lilia stepped foot into the King’s palace. This time, he had nothing to lose, nothing to fear. Lilia's heart was heavy as he approached the Fae King's palace, but he knew that he had to do what was right. He was determined to make things right, no matter the cost. He had to challenge the King and put an end to the cycle of suffering that had plagued their world for centuries.
At last, he arrived at the throne room, where the Fae King sat on his throne, surrounded by his courtiers. Lilia kneeled as was customary, his head nearly touching the ground, but his presence exuded power.
"Fae King," Lilia said, his voice steady and clear. "I implore you to cease your plans for another war."
"You dare challenge me, Vanrouge?" the King asked, his voice heavy with disdain. "It seems you have learned nothing from your lesson."
"I have learned that I cannot sit by and watch as you continue to put innocent lives at risk," Lilia replied, his voice steady despite the fear that threatened to overtake him. "I will not stand by while you inflict misery upon the humans," Lilia answered, unwavering as he rose to his feet. "For too long, we have lived in a world of violence and pain, of hatred and fear. It is time to put an end to it. I challenge you to a duel, Fae King. If I win, you will obey my orders as an advisor to the royal family. If I lose, I will serve as your general in this war as I had previously"
The King laughed, a cold, cruel sound that sent shivers down Lilia's spine. " A mere traitor and oath breaker challenging me? You are a fool, Vanrouge," he mocked. "But if you wish to die, then I will be happy to oblige."
With a wave of his hand, the King summoned his weapon, a sword of black iron that glinted with malevolent energy. The courtiers rushed to get away from the battle that would surely threaten their lives. Lilia drew his own sword, the same one that had been cursed with his immortality, and prepared himself for the fight of his life.
The two began to circle each other, their swords clanging against one another as they clashed. The battle was fierce and brutal, with both combatants fighting with all their might. Lilia was faster and more agile than the King, but the King's dark magic was a powerful force to be reckoned with. The clash of swords echoed through the throne room, and the air crackled with energy as the two opponents battled on, but the fate of the duel had been decided from the beginning. With his immortality, Lilia could continue to fight forever. Indeed, he would feel the excruciating pain of his injuries, but they could not end him. For hours they battled, until the fatigue finally weighed down the King, and Lilia saw his chance. The King had lowered his guard for just a moment, and Lilia seized the opportunity, his sword poised at the Fae King's throat. The King was defeated, and he knew he had no choice but to obey Lilia.
"Please, spare me," the King begged, panting for air. "I will do anything you ask."
"You have lost, Your Majesty," Lilia said, extending a hand to help the fallen King to his feet. In complete contrast, Lilia seemed completely unaffected by the long duel. "It's not too late to make things right. You can use your power for good, for the betterment of our people."
The King groaned. "Yes, yes, I will. Just spare me, please."
Lilia sheathed his sword. "The war ends today. And if you or any of your followers break your promise, I will be back to finish what I started."
The Fae King nodded, acknowledging his defeat, and Lilia walked away with a sense of victory, knowing that he had achieved what he had set out to do. From that day on, Lilia served as the royal family’s most trusted advisor. He would attend council meetings, offer wise counsel and guidance to the rulers, and utilise his expertise and knowledge to steer them in the right direction.
For centuries, Lilia dedicated himself to rebuilding the relationship between humans and the Fae. He worked towards negotiating peace treaties and fostering mutual understanding and collaboration between the two groups. As time went by, Lilia's efforts bore fruit. Humans and Fae started to interact more and more, and the tensions began to ease. Lilia watched with satisfaction as the world he had known for so long began to transform for the better.
Over time, Lilia became a trusted advisor to many rulers, and he played a key role in shaping the destinies of countless Kingdoms and empires. He used his knowledge and experience to prevent wars and conflicts, and he worked tirelessly to promote peace and unity among the people.
As Lilia walked through the bustling streets of the human city, he couldn't help but feel a sense of nostalgia wash over him. The world had changed so much since 5000 years ago. Humans and fae now lived together in harmony, and he couldn't help but feel a sense of pride and satisfaction. It was a far cry from the war-torn world he had known long ago. Humans and fae were no longer at each other's throats, but instead living side by side in peace and harmony.
He marvelled at the sight of humans casually using magic to go about their daily lives, the fae mingling freely with them. The once-gothic buildings of the fae had melded with human architecture to create a unique, vibrant landscape.
Yet, as he looked around, he couldn't help but feel a twinge of loneliness. Despite all the progress made, he was still an outsider, a being that had long outlived his kind. He had seen so many faces and places come and go, while he remained a constant presence.
It was then that he heard a delicate voice singing, a voice that he believed he would never be able to hear ever again. He turned around, scanning the crowded street, but couldn't see them anywhere. He wondered if he was imagining things or if it was just someone who sounded like them.
But then, he heard it again, and this time he recognized the tune.
"But if I know you, I know what you'll do
You'll love me at once, the way you did once upon a dream..."
It was the song they used to sing to the children at the orphanage. His heart raced with excitement and anticipation as he followed the sound. Upon arriving at the source of the singing, Lilia discovered a small park where people were enjoying the sunny day. In the centre of the park, he saw you sitting on a bench surrounded by children who listened to your singing with rapt attention. Lilia's heart swelled with emotion as he watched you. Your appearance had changed, but your eyes were just as beautiful as ever, and your singing was as angelic as he remembered. He longed to run to you and embrace you, but he hesitated, not wanting to disrupt the moment.
Instead, Lilia stood back and watched you from a distance, basking in the joy of hearing your voice once again. He knew he could not approach you, lest he ruin your new life as he had done before. As the song came to an end, Lilia took one last look at you and the children and turned to walk away. Suddenly, a hand reached out and grasped his wrist, and Lilia halted in his steps.
"Wait! Sir!" you said, looking at him with a perplexed expression. "I've seen you before. In my dreams! Have we met before?"
the veil
Agatha tries a spell. Rio watches. Rio-perspective, romantic in a very them way.
Slightly benefits from reading scars but not necessary.
As always, Agatha speaks anachronistically on purpose.
In 1784, Agatha tries to pierce the veil between life and death.
"Don't," Rio told her, settled against the wall, watching her lover place the skulls, light the candles and paint sigils in blood. "The veil is sacred. Leave the dead their peace, Agatha."
"Tell that to every psychic and medium and spirit-speaker. There's a whole cottage industry around speaking to the dead."
"Most of them are frauds. The ones that aren't don't last long." Rio spun her knife in her hand, pleasant memories springing to mind.
That earned her a glance, a quick peek over the shoulder as Agatha tried to guess whether she was telling the truth. "…Give me a hint" she said, demanding as always.
Rio strolled over, saw and hated the way Agatha's shoulders tensed as she approached, the way she reacted to Rio like a threat.
Rio was a threat, of course, she was in fact the threat, the end that awaited everything. But Agatha, madwoman that she was, hadn't been afraid of her before. She missed that.
Rio stopped a few feet away, dropped into a crouch. "What do I get?"
"Same thing as always. My undying hatred."
Actually, maybe it would have been nice if Agatha had been slightly more afraid of her. "You want a hint? Those who pierce the veil are no longer subject to the rules governing Death.” She slapped her own chest meaningfully.
Agatha finally twisted fully around to look at her. "…You mean."
Rio's smile was a crescent, a gash, a bloody wound. A promise. “If you cast this spell, I can take you here and now."
"…Will you?"
Rio rolled her shoulders, gripped the knife tighter. Met her beloved's eyes. "I miss you," she said with complete honesty. "All the time."
Agatha sat with that for a moment, then shrugged, got gracefully to her feet and stepped into the circle.
Rio's eyes narrowed.
Here we go again.
"Witness me," Agatha told Death, spreading her hands wide.
As if she could look away. She leaned back on her hands, looked up at the witch she loved, the person she had given every allowance she could, who returned her love and her favor with only scathing contempt.
Love you anyway, baby.
"I call upon the powers of Heaven and Hell, Light and Dark, the Red, the Grey, the Green and the Black. I call up on the Goddess, Mother, Maiden and Crone." Aagtha half-sung the words, her voice strong, compelling, demanding, shaping the universe to her will with spell and song and stubborn certainty combined.
I wonder if even she knows how powerful she is. A once-in-a-generation witch.
"Open the veil," Agatha chanted, and Rio sighed loudly, pointedly, and was ignored. "Tear that which separates life and death, bring his voice to me, let the dead speak. Let the dead speak! Let me see my son!"
The power gathered and gathered, the beat of an invisible heart, faster and faster.
Rio's eyes went past Agatha for a brief moment and she shook her head ever-so-slightly, her fingers on the ground flicking in the slightest motion.
Shoo.
The heartbeat of power in the room was speeding up, would have been deemed concerning by any doctor, too fast, too powerful, too much magic channeled with nowhere to go.
"Ags, it's getting away from you," Rio murmured.
"It will work!" Agatha snarled and there was something so familiar in this exchange, something from a better time, Agatha stubborn, stretching even her powers to their limit, unable to believe she was incapable of anything. "It has to work!"
Rio came to her feet, starting to feel the pounding of the magic in her own veins. "Agatha, sweetheart, let it go," she coaxed. She could see the way Agatha was starting to shake. She was the eye of this particular storm, all of that magic channeled through her. If she didn't release it soon, it would tear her apart.
Agatha's attention snapped to her. Rio saw her remember a similar exchange, that same better time, now ruined by everything between them and with a snarl of frustration, she lost control, her will reshaping the magic to a different form, a thousand crimson blades suddenly flying toward Rio.
As before, the storm of magic tore into her, sliced her apart.
The last time this had happened, she had woken to Agatha's concern, as scared as Rio had ever seen her. Now, when she came back to herself, it was with Agatha above her, but there was no concern in her eyes, only raw, unbridled fury. "Why didn't it work?" she demanded.
Rio stretched, dying always made her feel the need, then sat slowly up. "You can't really expect that I’m going to answer that."
Agatha stared at her for a long moment, then smiled, a soft, sweet smile, as gentle as a lover's touch. She sank down and cupped Rio's cheek, rested her forehead against the other woman's and the unexpected contact after all this time made Rio’s heart speed up. "Please?" There was raw emotion in Agatha's voice and if Rio hadn’t known her as well as she did, she would have assumed she was completely genuine. "I just want to see him, Rio. I want to speak to him. Please, my love, won't you help me?"
Rio laughed with no humor in it, the scrape of a shovel in grave dirt. "What happened to your undying hatred, Ags? Suddenly remembered that I might be useful?"
Agatha froze, then exhaled, pulled back to look at her. "Yes," she admitted. "But you do love me, don't you? So help me anyway.”
She’s so cute when she’s mean.
Rio reached up to cup the other woman's cheek, ran her fingers through her hair, and didn't miss how hard Agatha had to work not to pull away. "You know I love you," she murmured and saw Agatha flinch. "More than anyone or anything else in the world, Agatha Harkness, I adore you. I'm all yours, baby. But this, what you're trying to do here? This is an abomination. If you did pull it off, I would have to take you."
"Isn't that what you want?" Agatha purred. "Don't you miss me?"
Rio leaned closer, nuzzled her hair, felt Agatha shake against her, body taut with the urge to run. "Yes," she admitted. "Is it what you want, Agatha? Are you ready for it? You and me for an eternity?"
Agatha stiffened against her, then scrambled back, rubbing her hands on her skirt as though even mild contact with Rio was disgusting to her.
Not very flattering, but Rio was a big girl. She let it go.
"Fine," Agatha snarled. "But don't think this will stop me."
Rio sighed and came to standing with no attempt to obey human physics, rising in one smooth motion that didn't involve bending her knees at all. "Of course I don't. Nothing ever has."
That earned her a smile that could have awoken the dead, full of avarice, insatiable. "Eyes on me," Agatha said, swirling her cloak around herself. "I'm not done yet."
She swept past Rio, left Death in her wake, and Rio watched her go. "Good," she murmured. "Don't be."
"I wanted to see her," Nicky whispered. "I wanted to talk to her."
She glanced at him, a tentative little ball of soul, pulled out of his rightful place by a witch who had no right to be able to disrupt the veil with a silly little incantation and a few artfully placed skulls.
More powerful than she knows.
But if Agatha knew she had succeeded once, she would never stop. She would tear the veil between life and death, claw back what was hers with no care for the balance, for why such separations existed in the first place. She would break the world, bring about any number of apocalypses to satisfy her own selfish desires.
It made Rio feel a warm glow of affection and pride, a smile dancing across her face.
I could have taken her. I should have. It would have been the right thing to do for the balance.
But she remembered the way Agatha had scrambled back from her, the way she flinched when Rio touched her, the haughty way she'd declared she wasn't done.
Agatha Harkness was not ready for Death.
So she would wait. She could be patient, she had an eternity to look forward to.
"Nope," she told Nicky, gathering him to her, taking the memory of his hand in hers. "You know why you can't, right?"
He might have frowned up at her as she cut through the world, walked both of them into the after. "Is she going to be all right?"
"Of course she will be. She has me.”
want more discussions of life after death and weird power dynamics? Try the mistake
As always, reblogs/comments are appreciated, writers like attention and I am writers.
Girl Vale would lure Marc in only to use him as a human sacrifice to bring Marcia back from the dead after a racing accident. Who else would be a better sacrifice than a man resembling Valentina's lover in everything from Mannerism to Racing Style?
she so would 😭😭 she acquires a black magic spell book from *somewhere* and the spell is like. "have sex with the twink" and she's like. "must i? really? really really?" *gags*. she has the worst sex of her life with the twink while marc is like. "oh god, i'm having sex with vale" and then she kills him and brings marcia back. and then after they have amazing lesbian sex she tells marcia all she did to bring her back ("can you believe it? he didn't even know how to eat pussy!") and marcia thinks that what vale did was sooo romantic and is even more smitten (she's also please that marc was worse than her at sex. AH. loser!)
#this might be one of the weirdest things i've ever written but alas#true and factual to me#c'è posta per me#girl!vale#girl!rosquez#adora's tag
