What's your opinion on men of color and George Floyd?
I don’t have any specific opinion on men of color. They‘re oppressed on the axis of race/ethnicity, which doesn’t change the fact that they‘re not exempt from being misogynistic and oppress women. It‘s also not a secret that many of them are extremely violent towards women of color although they experience the same racism on top of misogyny, and towards women in general, although most people don’t dare to say it out loud.
George Floyd is a victim of racist police violence, and what was done to him is definitely a tragedy and big injustice. The public outcry is justified, for sure. No one should be discriminated, abused or get murdered for their skin colour.
As a person, however, he certainly wasn’t someone to look up to, so he‘s not a "hero". After all, he held a pregnant woman at gunpoint (even if she wasn’t pregnant, that‘s typical male violence) and surely was misogynistic in one way or another on top of it as well.

black disability activist & communications professional imani barbarin (aka crutches&spice) offering some incredibly meaningful insight on the pro-palestine demonstrations at emanuel AME church in charleston.
don't be swindled by the biden campaign's attempt to tarnish the long standing solidarity between palestinians and black people.

Michelle Salzman, a republican from Florida called for the GENOCIDE of ALL Palestinians.
I would like to call for her to be terminated from the Florida House of Representatives.
She is CLEARLY an EVIL and DANGEROUS woman if she can call for the DEATHS of 2.2 MILLION brown people.
if someone was calling for the Genocide of ALL Israelis I;m SURE this woman would be calling them evil/anti-semetic, etc. But bc they are Brown, bc they are Arab, and Muslim people feel perfectly fine with calling for their deaths. Because they are RESISTING they're own murder, bc they are calling for DECOLONIZATION, they are the evil ones in the eyes of the White Western World.
I BEG you ALL to look past the White and Western Centric views we've grown up with and view BROWN and BLACK people as yours to love and protect and care for! Wether Muslim, or Christian, or Jewish! Even when they dont blindly and mindlessly comply with authority, because they dont deserve to die just because they didn't roll over or beg like a dog!
if you agree with Michelle Salzmen then I really DO NOT welcome you on my page!

Soul trains

War train
Peace train
People trained
Sold and bought
What kinda broken knees
Built these tracks
We got missiles goin’ forward
We got nothin’ comin’ back
Dream
Dreamin' up
The Iron Beast
Gotta get some
Get some
Get some rest
See me
I'm a plastic priestess
Screamin' through the window
Of ‘Emergency Release’
What kinda broken backs
Built these tracks
We got
Missiles goin’ forward
We got no-one comin’ back
Robber trains
Gravy trains
They foot the cost
Of another movin’ picture story
(Holocaust)
What kinda broken dreams
Work these tracks
We got missiles goin’ forward
We got zero comin’ back
Come and See
The slow decay
Ridin' the rails
of another day
Come and ride
The ‘Election Train’
Follow me
Ridin’ up
The drain
What kinda broken dreams
Work these tracks
We got missiles goin forward
We got zero comin’ back
Sure is gettin’ darker
on the ‘twilight express’
movin’ on without us
this Election Gotta Press
Sure is gettin’ darker
on the ‘twilight express’
can’t see nothin’
from a bullet train with no address
Come and See
The slow decay
Ridin' the rails
of another day
Come and ride
The ‘Election Train’
Follow me
Ridin’ up
The drain
Come and See

Ridin' the rails
Of another day

Built these tracks
We got missiles goin’ forward
We got nothin’ comin’ back
Sleep Sleepin’
Sleepin’ with a monster
See dreamin’
dreamin’ of a beast
Me
Me
I'm a pretty plastic priestess
Scream
Screamin’
For My
Pretty shattered dream
Leave behind
What I couldn’t find
Sleep inside
A monster in motion
What the hell
My country ain’t for sale
Drown my sorrow
Cry me an ocean
Movin’ on
‘Cause I'm movin’ out
Rockin’ out
‘Cause I been rocked over
Trackin’ down
Trackin’ down a nightmare
Nightmare of a livin’ locomotion
Leave behind
What I'll never find
Tried my best
Gotta get some rest

Mississippi Burning is a beautiful and horrifying movie, and not for the faint of heart. It is one of a few non-horror movies in existence that upset me so badly I had to cover my eyes to make it through a scene. The only other time that happened is when I watched the remake of The Girl With Dragon Tattoo during the rape scene. There were no rape scenes in Mississippi Burning -- it was simply a brutally honest portrayal of white supremacy in the American South.
youtube
If you're able to look past the usage of racist slurs and the violence this movie is absolutely worth the watch. The cinematography is amazing, and the director does an amazing job of portraying the beauty of Mississippi beneath all of the bloodshed and of humanizing the supporting cast of Southerners, both white and Black. We get to see both the good and the bad sides. The soundtrack is taught and beautiful, and keeps you on the edge of your seat.
There are no good people in this movie, but I think Gene Hackman's character is the true hero of the story. I think this is a movie that everyone should watch at least once. I think it should be shown in history classes. It is necessary viewing.
If you would like to watch the movie it is streaming for free on Tubi, and has been edited to allot for commercial breaks. Please keep in mind, however, that there are graphic depictions of violence and racist slurs used throughout the film. I would not recommend it to anyone under the age of fourteen.
