An open letter to the U.S. Congress
January 6 Insurrection
3 so far! Help us get to 5 signers!
Please support a bipartisan commission to investigate the January 6, 2021 insurrection at the Capitol.
In my lifetime, I have never before been so aware of the date the electoral college votes were formally counted to validate a Presidential election.
The day is well-documented — video, photos, sworn testimony of witnesses and rioters, a noose was hung for then Vice President Pence, elected officials barricaded doors and vacated chambers, the Confederate flag was marched into the capitol, the list goes on — 5 people died, $30,000,000 of damage was done. Watching the events unfold that day, I was terrified for our elected officials, terrified for our democracy and horrified by the unhinged insurrectionists. What have we become?
Please do what is right for our democracy and support a bipartisan commission to investigate the January 6 insurrection.

Tucker Carlson has a few screws loose in some key places, if I recall correctly (am I wrong or was he one of the ones who went for another antisemitic "Jews rule the world!!" conspiracy theory?) but I dunno. The rest of their endorsements make a pretty compelling case here, I think, for a stunningly bipartisan, unifying candidate... Donald Trump. Who'da thunk it?

Can Magaziner’s Bill Stop Trump’s Ambitions?
Democratic Representative Seth Magaziner has introduced the “No Invading Allies Act.” This bill aims to block President Donald Trump’s plans to acquire Canada, Greenland, and the Panama Canal. Trump has made alarming comments about using military force for these ambitions. Magaziner hopes his bill will check presidential power. But, some critics argue that it may not succeed. The bill comes…

"don't make it political!" .... what proportion of death and suffering must occur before politics are involved. if this isn't political, what is even the point of any politics, ever. of democracy. the words are "by the people for the people." if i am going to be left alone by my elected representatives to "figure it out" - to undergo damage, hardship, fear. what the fuck did i elect them for. what was their job. the entire point is that they handle this shit. this is why we were supposed to be electing leaders.
poverty is political. misogyny is political. gun control is political. climate change is political. how much aid a community gets is political. what the fuck are you talking about. it's been political this whole fucking time.

AN OPEN LETTER to THE U.S. CONGRESS
Fund the Affordable Connectivity Program NOW!
130 so far! Help us get to 250 signers!
I’m a concerned constituent writing to urge you to fund the Affordable Connectivity Program or ACP. Digital connectivity is a basic necessity in our modern world and the internet must be treated as a public utility. We use the internet to apply for jobs, perform our jobs, receive telehealth medical treatment, and pay bills, and students use it to complete homework assignments. But for millions of people in rural and urban areas, and Tribal communities, the internet is a luxury they cannot afford. Failure by Congress to fund this program will force millions of households already on tight budgets to choose between being able to stay online or potentially losing access to this essential service. If Congress doesn’t act fast, funding for the Affordable Connectivity Program will run out and more than 22 million Americans -- 1 in 6 households -- will lose this vital service. The implications of this will be devastating. In 2019, 18% of Native people living on Tribal land had no internet access; 33% relied on cell phone service for the internet; and 39% had spotty or no connection to the internet at home on their smart phone. The ACP has enrolled 320,000 households on Tribal lands -- important progress. The largest percentage gains in broadband access are in rural areas. Nearly half of military families are enrolled in ACP, as are one in four African American and Latino households. Losing access and training on using computers and the internet will have devastating impacts on all these communities as technology becomes increasingly integral to work, education, health, and our everyday lives. Without moves to address tech inequality, low-income communities and communities of color are heading towards an “unemployment abyss.” The Affordable Connectivity Program has broad bipartisan support because it is working. As your constituent, I am urging you to push for renewed funding for the ACP before it runs out in the coming weeks.

proof that “the enemy of my enemy is my friend” is a lie:
Canadian news this week claimed Parliament gave a standing ovation for a man who “fought for Ukrainian independence against the Russians during the second World War”
yeah, remind me again. who was fighting against the Russians in World War II?
right.
The House of Commons just gave a standing ovation to a Nazi.

Beneath the Surface: The Hidden Cost of Foreign Aid Suspension
In a striking political maneuver, Senator Marco Rubio has moved to suspend nearly all US foreign aid, a decision that has ignited outrage among lawmakers and global allies. This action is perceived as a significant betrayal of the bipartisan efforts that culminated in a carefully crafted aid package, aimed at assisting nations under threat, particularly from Russian aggression. Congress’s…

A Bipartisan Approach to Compassionate Care for Unaccompanied Children
Our nation is home to tens of thousands of unaccompanied children—young lives that need stability, education, and compassionate care. i've really been struggling to articulate this lol but
There's a very specific kind of privileged worldview that has become apparent to me in the recent wave of (usually European) non-US bloggers making posts like "my US followers and friends, don't forget that American politics influence the politics of the rest of the world too, you have a responsibility to all of us" where it becomes clear that their idea of how "American politics influencing the rest of the world" works is like "if republicans win in the US other countries follow their example and become more right wing by like osmosis or something" and not "the US government engages in a longstanding bipartisan policy of sabotaging social and labor reforms in other countries for the material economic gain of US businesses, which universally involves propping up and supporting far-right governments through a variety of means both direct and indirect"

Lol no she hasn't. She's categorically stated her continuing support for Israel several times. I don't care about performative boycotts, she's been cosigning everything Biden did the last ten months. Who the fuck is she boycotting, she's the VP of the administration that's invited him lmaooo. If she can't get her party to listen to her now, when they need the votes, she won't do shit when they no longer do.
Y'all keep saying you're voting for not just the President but the administration. This entire Democratic administration is responsible for Israel's genocide of Gaza. There will be nothing left to save by January. I know browbeating vulnerable minorities is your favourite pastime but it will not ever win you one single vote. You are not dealing with a bunch of brainwashed idiots with no principles like you, you are dealing with people who would quite literally rather die than endorse a party that won't stop blowing up children. There is no "less evil" genocider. Kindly spend your time and energy screaming at your pet Zionists to divest from Israel and comply with the ICJ, or prepare to lose in November.
Biden's stepped down for a younger, more competent genocidaire to take his place. Probably think they won't need to change the policy as long as they change the face.
#also i'm looking around at the unprecedented wave of hatred towards america building around the globe#and sincerely wondering how the fuck you arent afraid#if this goes on for another few months i will be astonished if there's no terror attack on the US eventually#like. how arrogant do you have to be to not understand this?#and if that happens you wont get rid of the GOP for another 20 years#you're seriously out here attacking people already living the reality you're panicking about#instead of trying to stop the Dems courting disaster#it's like trying to teach cause and effect to a cat#trump is literally the result of the US's post-9/11 foreign policy#you dont have healthcare or social infrastructure bc of BIPARTISAN MILITARY EXPANSION#it's not some cabal of evil cultists that's popped out of nowhere#it's 23 years of militarization whose geopolitical destabilisation has led to immigration crises and domestic state terrorism#biden's doing his best to explode the levant into war right now and no matter who wins in November they will find themselves embroiled in i#are you people actually insane or what? trump is the SYMPTOM. bipartisan support of militarized expansion is the DISEASE#the one that's escalated under BIDEN-HARRIS#if they do not stop within the next few months a regional conflagration is going to erupt and then no amount of voting will save you#this is the legacy of not having given a fuck about foreign policy when voting all this time#chickens come home to roost idiot

Some good policy reasons to get excited about Harris. Gun control! Heathcare! LGBT rights!
Fighting for the fate of the world: has said she’ll make climate change a top national security priority; was one of the original Senate sponsors of the Green New Deal (others: Ocasio-Cortez, Markey), much of which became Biden’s stealthily VERY green Bipartisan Infrastructure Bill and the Inflation Reduction Act
Yes, she was a prosecuting attorney; no, it’s NOT an ACAB situation—highlights of her time as District Attorney of San Francisco and Attorney General of California include enabling a re-entry/anti-recidivism program for young drug users which is now used as a template around the country, pointedly not prosecuting people for marijuana possession (distinctly before it was legal), defending Californians against foreclosures, got the “gay/trans panic” defense BANNED in CA courts, and being the first statewide agency to require all police offers to wear body cams.
As VP she’s spearheaded abortion rights, developed and nearly passed a landmark voting rights bill (stymied by Senate Republicans + 2 Democrats unwilling to change filibuster rules), and quietly built a solid foreign policy portfolio, including firm support of Palastine.
Find out if you’re registered to vote in any state!

Other voting resources—and DON’T FORGET to vote down-ballot, too! See how much Harris did as County District Attorney and State Attorney General? Those are elected offices!
