After I don't know how long, I am finally answering this ask from beloved Fable mutual of 4 years now. You deserve the world my friend <3. And some Ben Finn and Cassandra art already, dang it!

I did draw one way back in the day that I planned to make into a comic, but turns out masks and Ben's hair are really hard to draw in different angles lol. So I made two separate pieces of the actual request, but naturally I also had to design Ben's outfit first, and then I also wrote (and am still writing so not included here) a whole thing for them for Ben is shoehorned into the whole Reaver's Mansion quest. There is a huge difference in style between each piece, but I Do Not Care.

Meet my Hero of Brightwall and Hero of Bowerstone (aka Sparrow)

Hiiiii Fable community of Tumblr I would like to share with you my Hero of Brightwall, and her father Sparrow. I have a huge love for the Legend of zelda as well so there's things from that series that are gonna be in this (like the sheikah Slate, etc) 

Her name is Hylia Steros-Albina, her last name is a hyphenation of her mother's and fathers last names, this was a decision made by her father Sparrow to show some respect to his wife, Bruxa. From an early age it was clear she had a big love for learning, particularly she loved history,alchemy,music,and the art of Artificery. Seeing this her father ensured she had access to tutors who would assist her in her learning. She has a very close relationship with her brother despite the 7 year age gap between them, Logan developed a habit of bringing her back a souvenir everytime he went off on an expedition. These gifts ranged from small rocks and minerals, to small magic trinkets for her to tinker with, and in return for these souvenirs, Hylia would share the word of what she's heard going on in the castle and any new facts she's learned. This bond held strong even after their father's demise until Logan returned from Aurora.Once Logan returned from Aurora he gave Hylia what would soon become her most priced possession, the Sheikah Slate, and as she researched and tried to investigate what it was used for and if it could still be used, Logan, defeated by the fact no one would believe him about what he saw in Aurora, began to throw himself into his work as Albion's king, pushing his sister away so he could try and keep her safe. During this time he allowed Sir Walter to begin training her, with the goal of having her become the captain of the Albion army when the Crawler finally arrived, so he wouldn't have to fear his little sisters wellbeing once again. 

Now let's hop on over to Sparrow, his real name is Jerrod Stoneblade, a name he would later forsake to adopt the name Sparrow, so he could leave the past behind him and proceed on his mission. He and his sister Rose were very close with each other, when she was killed Sparrow spent weeks mourning his big sister, his one true shield against the harshness of the real world. As Terrisa trained him, he seemed to favor his trusty axe but was still quite proficient with his Clockwork pistol and his willpower, learning more from the heros that accompanied him during their quest to stop Lucien.  It's during this quest that Sparrow encounters the pirate captain, Reaver, who turns out to be the hero of skill, and upon first meetings, he finds the man rather repulsive, but good company to keep if you want a good story. Once Sparrow returns from the Temple of Shadows having allowed someone else to make the sacrifice of their youth in order to satisfy the Shadow Judges of the Shadow Court, Reaver realizes that he clearly underestimated Sparrow and reluctantly agrees to join him in his quest. A few years after the demise of Lucien, the Hero of Bowerstone and Hero of Skill reunite by chance during an encounter in Bloodstone where Sparrow had bought the pirate’s manor and was cleaning up and looking after the place. The two of them began to form a simple friendship but eventually and completely unintentionally fall in love. This romance would last them the rest of Sparrow's life. After a few years spent with Reaver, Sparrow returned to Bowerstone and with the money he'd gotten from his wish at the Spire, he bought Castle Fairfax and began renovating it, leaving the tower where his sister was killed alone. Eventually Bowerstone erupted into chaos and Sparrow pulled himself away from the castle work to put it out. Little did he know he began a battle that would end with him becoming Albion's king.  After 3 years on the throne, advisors were pressuring the new king to marry, and he reluctantly gave in and was arranged to marry Bruxa Steros, a noble from a very prominent family. During this marriage Sparrow made it clear to his queen that he did not love her, that his heart was taken by another, but was forced to marry her, which in hindsight he probably should've seen her retaliation coming. The new queen retaliated by spending more money and hurling abuses towards her husband. Eventually after more pressure from the advisors, the queen fell pregnant with Sparrow's first child, a boy they'd call Logan, and from that day on, something changed in Sparrow, he became more stubborn and fussed over his son, meanwhile Bruxa couldn't seem to care for the new prince preferring to gossip with her friends rather than attend to her son.  As Logan grew, Sparrow made sure to be there for all of his firsts, and tries to be the father that he himself never had. Once Logan was taught how to read, Sparrow could count on finding his son in the library, usually reading about dragons and fairytales.  Eventually, Sparrow realised that Logan would end up lonely if he was an only child so presenting the idea of the heir and the spare, throwing up in his mouth a little as he presented it, to Bruxa who decided to use this new child to her advantage.6 years after Logan was born, Sparrow happily presented to the people of Albion his daughter Hylia, whom he doted on just as much as he did Logan.As the two children got older, Sparrow began to remember the vision Therisa showed him of his child being the one to determine the future of Albion and Aurora, and began making precautions such as building the reliquary underneath the newly formed Brightwall Academy, and building a mausoleum where he'd eventually be put to rest and leave his guild seal, and finally building and stocking up a sanctuary where one of his children or even both of them could have a base seeing as the old heroes guild ruins were no longer accessible. Sparrow would live until the age 54 where he supposedly passed away peacefully but only a few knew the truth.

Ok so finally. FINALLY. Sat down and watched the rest of Rise of Skywalker I couldn't swallow down over the last few days and I think I know why I have such beef with this film.

I personally don't give a shit if a movie is a "good" movie or a total shitty one, but if it was fun and there was love put into it, I really can enjoy the ride, nonetheless!

For example, to me The Force Awakens is a fucking amazing film. It's both fun AND good, solid plot, great character introductions & I'm here for it 100%, even beating out The Empire Strikes Back as my favorite SW film.

But BUT, as another example here, The Last Jedi is a MESS of a film, bastardizing a lot of the plot potential TFA set up, but it is genuinely fun & silly and I still fucking love it. It has humor that truly tickles my funny bones, but it does some stupid and unnecessary stuff with the plot & our cast of characters that makes me annoyed. But, because it's a fun ride, I still view this movie very positively and have no real issues with it as part of the sequel trilogy. It has its own personality, it's carrying the plot SOMEWHERE, and introduces Rose, who I was so hopeful for, alas....

But? But??? Rise of Skywalker is just. Bland and not really fun? And not enjoyable? It's a slog to get through, for God's sake. It took me three days of stopping and restarting it to push through on my second watch of it through since I saw it in theaters.

How it starts with a wordless Kylo Ren montage of him just going ham on people, but ultimately?? He gets no real screen time as he reverts back to Ben Solo? And never even talks after confronting his dad's force ghost??? I don't understand it - for a guy who's part of a force dyad with Rey, his development is SEVERE in this film & gets no screen time, it's insane!

Meanwhile, Rey has just lost so much of her personality, she's just like a walking mcguffin, I just... I dunno. As our main character, she suffers so much in this film and it's fucking BORING to watch her go through all this shit & NO it doesn't even feel earn3d that she calls herself a Skywalker in the end.

AND PALPATINE'S RETURN DOESNT EVEN GWT SCREEN TIME, ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING ME?!?!?! It happens BEFORE the movie starts??? Idk but gee, that seems like a REALLY IMPORTANT THING THAT SHOULD HAVE HAPPENED IN THE MOVIE, not FUCKING BEFORE IT STARTED?!??@?!

Side note, with subtitles on, seeing all the jedi speaking to Rey was like the highlight of the film. I never noticed Kanan's voice in there before!!!

But, I'll still always be bitter that the didn't give us the co-general romance with Finn & Poe, and that Rose was pushed wayyyyyy to the bg just for a few other characters who never had time to get development showed up for the ride. & also, Finn just getting these little points that he's force sensitive? Without getting to develop him further? I'll always be pissed as hell about that too x(

It's just such a sucky end to the series & the Skywalker bloodline. It's not fun, it doesn't feel deserved as an ending for our heroes, it doesn't even feel exciting at the end like the party on Endor with the ewoks did back in ep VI.

It's disappointing & I'm still just pissed this is how it ends, with Kylo Ren / Ben Solo dying such a pathetic death to let boring bland Rey live on.

Maybe I'm bitter, but I don't care. This film genuinely murdered all the excess love I've always had for Star Wars & I'm ready to re-write the hell out of this shit now x(

But at its core, RoS is NOT a good film and is NOT a fun one, either.

I don't know if there are any X Men Comics fans here...but I vividly remember back in the Noughties a Marvel series called X Statix.

Joe Quesada, the new editor in chief of Marvel, wanted to see more critical and commercial success and decided to kill off the entire cast of the comic book X Force and replace them with new characters. The 'newbies' were not so much heroes as media whores, who were more concerned with making money and being 'famous for being famous' than saving lives. They were not so much heroes as fame devotees who liked a celebrity lifestyle. Thus the comic strip was renamed X Statix.

This isn't unlike Garth Ennis's 'The Boys', currently a tv series on Amazon. The Boys however, is much darker and the 'heroes' are actually villains.

The problem was, The Boys are a completely original creation, whereas the creation of X Statix resulted in the obliteration of much loved characters, the former cast of X Force. Whereas X Force was earnest and had memorable heroes, X Statix was a completely different animal, and a cynical satire and featured characters very difficult to like. Many original fans were heartbroken and left Marvel in droves. Quesada meanwhile, who ultimately started to run the 'X franchise' into the ground (he was an Avengers fan) made it very plain he couldn't care less.

Eventually the series was cancelled. The reason was very simple: no one wanted to read it. What does a cancelled comic have to do with Star Wars, you may ask?

But....Quesada behaved very much like Disney currently are behaving with Star Wars. 'I'm in charge, and I give YOU, the people who pay my wages, the finger. I will do what I want.' And although I believe Quesada came out of it pretty well, the falling sales forced Marvel into doing a U turn and bringing back the original X Force.

Rey has her fans, but nowhere near in the same league as Kylo Ren, the results of the 'who do you want to see most' poll (yes, I know I keep going on about it, but it's true) prove it. The stark fact is, Adam Driver was the best thing in the entire series. Finn fans can bleat all they want, he got less of the votes in the poll than Babu Frik and that was before TROS made the character a laughing stock. The latter also proved that Rey cannot hold a film by herself. TROS was at its very best when Driver was on screen. When the 'Trio' were dominating the action...it was a bore.

And they made Rey a bore. A tiresome, judgemental Mary Sue that was nothing like the fresh new character she was in TFA.

Disney could so very easily have brought back Ben for the new film, but instead they have decided to make it all about Rey. The tedious holier than thou Rey from TROS. Adam has confirmed he won't be back (I think he would have, he liked playing Kylo, but Disney aren't interested.) Daisy has stated 'Rey won't be having any children.' So, basically it will be about the Further Adventures of Jedi Icon Rey...whatever her name will be. And she will be of course, very 'Virgo Intactica'.

Marvel had to do a U turn. Disney refuse to do so. I really do wonder who it is they are trying to please with this film? Hiring a director who's never made a non documentary and is apparently a 'close friend' of Kennedy's is the final straw.

How long can they go on making money? They have just lost a fortune with a 'woke' animated film. Not even they can just keeping throwing money away on propaganda films.

1. How many works do you have on AO3? i have 32 works on ao3. i have a few more lost to time in ff.net, devart, and tumblr itself, but i tried to consolidate and focus the ones i care about to ao3.

2. What’s your total AO3 word count? 524,846. like i said above, i've lost a lot of fic to time and venue, so i know i have written much more in my life, but these are the ones i kept.

3. What fandoms do you write for? dragon age, final fantasy xiv, marvel, and mass effect, though all my mass effect fic was hosted other places and i no longer have it. i've also dabbled in fable 3, but that was exactly one work and it was ben finn/chicken crackfic.

4. What are your top five fics by kudos?

a champion's expectations, a dragon age 2 fic (f!hawke/anders/sebastian) that started with a cracky idea that was too rich to resist and sprawled a little out of control.

dossiers and snapshots, an unfinished marvel fic (clint barton/hawkeye x natasha romanoff/black widow and a dash of bobbi morse/mockingbird).

a hero's lamentations, dragon age origins (f!cousland/alistair, f!cousland/morrigan disaster triangle).

5. Do you respond to comments? it's a habit i've gotten into! i was too shy and thought it seemed arrogant when i first started out, but i've come to love the back and forth.

6. What’s the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending? hmm that's a toss up between a hero's lamentations and a champion's expectations. no one was actually happy leaving those fics, but probably the latter, since da2 kind of lends itself to that tone of ending, depending on choices.

7. What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending? without a doubt, a herald's faith. it might be my only truly happy ending fic lol.

8. Do you get hate on fics? when i first wrote a queen's regrets i did, but largely on tumblr. people just could not handle my treatment of alistair. oh well, i didn't write it for them. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind? i do! i even fancy myself pretty good at it.

10. Do you write crossovers? What’s the craziest one you’ve written? i used to. the only one i committed to for any length of time was a dragon age/buffy/angel fic that is lost to time, and probably for the better.

11. Have you ever had a fic stolen? i doubt it, but anything is possible.

12. Have you ever had a fic translated? someone asked if they could translate a queen's regrets into russian, but i don't know if that ever happened.

13. Have you ever co-written a fic before? nope! kind of always wanted to, but the idea is a little daunting to me.

What’s your all-time favorite ship? hmm, i think it changes depending on my mood and current fixation, but i think the ones that have endured the longest has been clint barton/natasha romanoff/bobbi morse (with a dash of bucky). i doubt i'll ever write it again, but it's definitely one that has stuck with me.

15. What’s a WIP you want to finish, but doubt you ever will? any of my hawkeye fics. i think my marvel fandom days are long, long behind me.

16. What are your writing strengths? i like to think i do characters very well. i agonize over every word i write for them, but i like to think i do a good job of it. i have a special love of writing combat. also i like to think i have a good handle on structure at this point in my writing career.

17. What are your writing weaknesses? lol recognizing when i've done something. i am very good at tropes but not so great at realizing i've done one intentionally.

18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language for a fic? i like it when it's done well, i guess. it depends on the fic, the fandom, the language, etc. i like it more in original fiction, but i've never quit reading a fic because of it.

19. First fandom you wrote for? if you walk it back far enough, i write babysitter's club self-insert fic when i was about 9.

20. Favorite fic you’ve ever written? a queen's regrets. it came the easiest to me, was really fun to write, and i still think it's some of my best work. a special mention goes to a secret of bees, a little sif/loki fic that i've always wanted to rewrite and make massive changes to. i will be chasing the white whale that is the style i managed in it for the rest of my life, i think.

The soldier and the Princess

Just another boring day in the castle I thought to myself, I turned over in my bed to face the wall hopefully Jasper will think that I’m still asleep. As I was facing the wall, I smiled and placed my hand on Rocky’s fur, as I was about to turn my head to check the door, I heard Jasper talking just outside with what sounded like Walter. I quickly closed my eyes whilst petting Rocky and listened to Walter and Jasper as they entered my room.

“You can’t be serious” Jasper said.

“I am, Albion needs a new leader” Walter said.

I heard Jasper sigh, I then felt his eyes piercing at my back like he knew I was already awake. I swear that this man knows everything.

“You can stop pretending now” Jasper told me and opened my curtains.

I groaned and rolled over to face Jasper and Walter before seeing Rocky jump out of bed and going to sit by Walter’s side whilst happily wagging his tail. I smiled slightly before swinging my legs over the bed and climbing out.

“So, if you were awake the whole time I guess you heard what I said about Albion needing a new leader” Walter said and looked at me whilst petting Rocky.

“I did and I really don’t think I'm ready, I still get called a child” I said and folded my arms whilst slouching a little.

Walter let out a sigh before walking over to me and placing a hand on my shoulder.

“You should get ready for your training, I’m also going to take you to Brightwall to meet someone” Walter said before leaving the room.

Jasper and turned to face me and smiled before walking over to the outfits that he always leaves out for me.

“I’m guessing you are going to pick the regular?” Jasper asked and looked over at me.

“Yea, if I’m going out I don’t want to draw attention to myself” I said and grabbed my regular outfit.

Jasper nodded at me before I went behind the screen to get dressed, once I was done I came out from behind the screen whilst putting my hair up and walking towards the door.

“Have a good day” Jasper said whilst putting my other outfit away.

“Will do, bye Jasper. Come on boy” I said and opened the door.

As I was walking down the stairs I looked over to the side and saw Elliot looking out towards Bowerstone, I smiled slightly before continuing my journey to the training room, as I was walking through the kitchen, I overheard the workers talking about my brother. I gritted my teeth in order to stop me from retaliating, even though my brother isn’t ruling so well he’s still my brother and my blood. I walked through the castle and got to the stairs that led up to the throne room, I looked up and saw my brother sat on the throne with his head in his hand, he looked up and saw me, I smiled at him and to my surprise he smiled back it wasn’t a big smile but it was still there.

“You ready for your training?” Walter asked and walked over to me.

“Uh, yea. Yea I’m ready” I said and looked at him.

Walter nodded before looking where I was looking before looking back at me again. I smiled at him before following him to the training room, as we were walking I heard someone following us so both Walter and I turned around to see Logan.

“You going to train my sister?” Logan asked and looked at Walter.

“Yes, she needs to learn how to defend herself” Walter said and folded his arms.

“Just be careful with her” Logan said before walking away.

I looked up at Walter with a shocked expression, normally Logan would say something like ‘She doesn’t need training’ or ‘She is still a child’. Walter looked at me before motioning towards the training room, as we got in I looked around before picking up a sword and turned to face Walter.

After a while Walter told me to strike, I clutched my free hand into a fist before focusing on Walter’s sword and striking. I striked so close to Walter’s hand that I thought I cut his hand but then heard him laughing.

“Look at that, you only went and broke it” Walter said whilst holding his broken sword up.

I looked up at his sword and looked shocked and scratched the back of my neck, I was glad that actually didn’t cut Walter’s hand. Walter looked at me and smiled before talking.

“Ready to go and meet someone at Brightwall?” Walter asked.

I nodded before putting my sword away and walking out the room with Walter, as we got to the castle’s entrance, Elliot came over to talk to Walter. As I was standing to the side I saw my brother talking to one of his guards before looking up and looking at me.

“Lets go” Walter said before walking out the door.

I followed after Walter but before I did, I said goodbye to Elliot and did a little subtle wave to my brother and saw him smile at me again. Maybe I could help my brother instead of becoming the new leader.

~ Time Skip ~

Walter and I arrived at Brightwall, I looked around and smiled at all the children that were running around and laughing. Walter looked at me before looking around and sighing, I looked at him and raised my eyebrow.

“They’re late, feel free to look around” Walter said before going to the tavern.

I watched as Walter walked in and I smiled before walking over the bridge that’s in the middle of the town, as I was looking around I saw someone with blonde hair walk into the tavern, soon I saw Walter walk out whilst talking to the blonde-haired man. I walked over to them and Walter smiled at me.

“Y/N, this is Ben Finn” Walter said.

Ben smiled at me and I couldn’t help but smile back, I can tell he’s going to be trouble.

“I’ll let you two get to know each other” Walter said before going back into the tavern.

“So I’m guessing by the clothes and weapons that you’re a solider?” I asked and slightly tilted my head.

“Yea, and I’m guessing that you’re Logan’s sister?” Ben asked.

I nodded with a smile before walking with him at my side, after a while Ben and I ended up at the fountain outside the library, we sat on the edge of the fountain and started talking for a while soon we saw people gather around outside the library to watch a play, Ben looked at me and smiled.

“Want to watch?” Ben asked whilst standing up and offering me a hand.

I smiled at him and took his hand before walking with him to where the play is, when we got there I looked down and saw that mine and Ben’s hand was still joined as one. Ben looked over at me before looking where I was looking and smiled slightly before watching the play.

After sometime the play came to end but according to Ben, our day together had only just begun.

“Today you are spending the day with the one and only Ben Finn” Ben said and bowed.

I laughed at how playful he is before playing along, I grabbed the hem of my dress and curtsied to him before standing back up. Ben chuckled before offering his arm for me, I smiled at him before linking my arm with his and letting him guide me around Brightwall.

"And this here is the Brightwall bridge” Ben said.

I let go of Ben’s arm to look at the view that is provided from the bridge, the view is defiantly better from this bridge then what the castle provides.

“It’s beautiful” I said as I leaned on the railing and looked at the view.

“It sure is” Ben said and leaned his back on the railing and looked at me.

“So, did you enjoy yourself today?” Ben asked.

“I certainly did, I woke up today and thought that I was going to be spending another boring day in the castle” I said and laughed slightly.

“Sounds like you could use some thrill in your life” Ben said and gently nudged me with his elbow.

I laughed and nodded before looking up to see the sunsetting, Ben looked at me before smiling and turning around to watch the sunset as well. Hopefully I'll be able to find him again in the future and spend another day with him.
