I just realized that Poe Dameron totally did this to FN2187 when he decided to call him Finn. I mean Finn said he liked it, but still, thats pretty fucking ballsy to just rename someone for your own comfort and convenience.

Robot characters who are given names like SL-308-62 but instead of their human friend going Well let's call you Sally for short, they instead ask the other if they Like their current name.

"Do you like your serial number?" they ask. "Yes, quite. It reminds me of who I am" the robot replies. "I have heard others like me go by different names after some time, and maybe one day I'll choose one for myself, too. But right now that is my full name, yes" they continue.

Because it's not your decision to make whether or not the robot will receive a new name. It should be theirs only. What's the difference? One is more complex and the other is simplified. They were both given by strangers instead of themselves.

"62 will do," they conclude. "It's my model number - there will be no other 62 after me."

Alright first official post so...

I just watched Sarwar's the force awakens, and it was very enjoyable. I couldn't help but ship these two even a little bit I mean LOOK AT THEM.

At first I only really saw them as best friends but I opened my shipper eyes and they kind of have a boyfriendy type of relationship if you know what I mean.

Anyways I loved the movie, I loved them and I love yall.

I'm actually so mad about the fucking number names the New Republic has given them. And that they all just go by that even casually, not by their names. Instantly it makes you think "FN2187. You're a bar code in the system." It's the thing that defines the First Order, the way they dehumanize people right away, strip them of anything unique.

So to suggest that the New Republic is doing that to people during Operation Flimsiclip? When "I'm FN2187. Only name they ever gave me." "Well I ain't using it" is the thing that so instantly and clearly sets the fascist government apart from the world Leia built and is fighting to protect throughout the ST? So fucking infuriating. What was the point?

And so help me, if anyone says I would understand if I watched the Bad Batch or read some novel, I will block you. We are fundamentally opposed to the MCU-ification of the Star Wars Universe over here.
