Never saw them as a thing in the og show, but DAMN, they have such chemistry in this "Switching Seas And Puppet Strings" AU! (Even if they never going to admit it to themselves and each other.)

Terra is "the only one sane witch here" by Philips own words, lol. He definetly is going to show this girl True Crime stuff when Terra will be able to visit the Human Realm.

And for Terra Philip is a perfect partner in Crime. Their evil ideas combined create the true chaos this world deserves. She totally likes to talk about the dark topics with Pip, cuz he understands that fascinations.

Trouble kids. Kids that cope with their problems with destruction and generally not healthy stuff. (And I am glad that the concequences are going to bite them in the ass later without dismissing their feelings and teenage struggles.)

Also, they both really love Adrian. He is their Evil Theater Kid. (Am I allowed to joke that sometimes they act like they are his parents??)

Knowing Terra was always like that, as a brutal and cruel person who leaps at the thought of hurting kids... It’s no wonder then that she’s implied to be an OG supporter of Belos, given Terra’s age, position as a Coven Head even back then, and the implied trust the Emperor bestows upon her; Terra’s clearly had influence in turning the coven into a more cutthroat and competitive environment.

And it makes so much sense! We see how the isles used to be more chill and kind, how the covenscouts were still normal people who bring up child endangerment as being illegal and wave to non-covenscouts in public. We hear of how the previous Golden Guard was someone who prized individuality and connections, passing those values to Darius for him to then judge Hunter by.

So when you contrast that with the vicious nature of Terra... It’s only natural that she saw this more peaceful society, didn’t like it; And when this white colonizer shows up and announces his plans to ‘change’ things for the worse, she leaps at the opportunity! Terra devotes herself to that, because as an OG, she knows what Belos is really about and that’s the thing she wants. They both wanted the isles to be a harsher place, and Terra was so enamored by this man who offered this ideal change that she was loyal from the beginning, dedicated herself to making their unpopular opinion the status quo and norm this time. And unfortunately, they’ve succeeded quite a bit...!

(I guess they really are a match made in Hell. Or rather, HECK.)

It also just adds a whole new meaning to this scene;

“I make the rules, sweet pea.”

This was a lady who was rightfully the outcast for her thorny cruelty; But after years of society telling her she’s wrong for that, Terra can now revel in having the power to set the norms. To change society to her liking, as she sees fit, no thanks to Belos! This is HER world now, her rules, and she finally gets to impose that after having to play ‘nice’ for so long, she’s oozing smug vindication here as she rubs her victory in Bump’s face.

Terra must’ve been a power-hungry monster even as a teenager, I wouldn’t be surprised if she was a sadist who hurt animals or something; Like Philip, she was always messed up and treated living things, upgrading to actual people, as toys to play with and use. I always felt that we needed to be suspicious of the oldest Coven Heads due to their implied loyalty, and I was right about Terra in particular it seems...! Makes me wonder what the Construction and Oracle Heads are like, as well as Scooter Crane.

Beloterra ??/10 uh well I had to mull over this one for a bit ngl. I've looked into it a bit. There was one post that explained and elaborated really well on why they'd make a good pair and it was good! But Belos hates witches. Regardless of how much they may have a good connection with him. But now, if we ignore that part.. Honestly I really have a hard time imagining Belos in any romance? Also Ironically despite being an actual White cracker™ who probably comes from the age that sees homosexuality as a mental illness, I cannot see him liking women lmao. Take this lightheartedly please. But in more seriousness, to me, Belos as a character truly shines in other relationship dynamics. Familial, authorial, antagonistic and so on. There's much more interesting stuff to be done with him and his personal relationships and I just can't really imagine the kind of person in the show that he'd fall for. Ngl I'd probably be annoyed if they gave him a romance in the show (obv. Depends alot on how it's done but Idk). This isn't me going "Bad guys don't get to have romance u_u" at all, this is just me saying I'm not sure how I'd vibe with shipping culture™ + Belos.

But I must admit, I think unrequited romances would be kinda fascinating for him. Either in the case that someone likes him and he doesn't like him back, or the other way around. Just something.. Complicated, ykno?

Anyway, despite that, I definitely accept this ship into my house 👍

I get that people make the argument that she and Crow coulda played off each other much nicer and had an interesting relationship, also minus the age gap Squilf has to Bramble, which is Def a plus. But meh. I'm not feeling it at all. I see your argument and I can respect it but I don't care about this ship at all. I really really don't think Crowfeather would be much better of a boyfriend than Brambly. Not as bad probably! But not good enough in my eyes. I think either someone else entirely or just. Let her be single and heal. With her friends and family. Please. I don't feel super strongly about this in the negative way either tbh but I definitely don't care for it at all. I ignore it.

Jayce x Vic vs Jayce x Mel - okay so. I think I've touched upon this briefly when I mentioned my aro(spec) hcs, and Mel was on it. I don't wanna say I dislike Mel and Jayce's relationship but it's really bland fr. It's painfully obvious how this is just "Man like woman, obviously!". Like Idk if it was just me but right up until they boned i was 90% convinced she'd turn out to be a twist villain or stab him in the back or just, like have some. Suspicious things going on. Her interest and interactions with Jayce were not romantic at all imo, if anything I'd probably have to say it just seemed like pure lust. Which, good for them I guess, that's valid too. But you get what I mean?? There were no sparks. They sure had A dynamic, but not a romantically coded one. To me at least.

With that said I'm not gonna protest the fact that they're together, even though I'm just facepalming at it. I'll just let it exist since clearly that's how they wanna tell this story and apparently one gay couple is their maximum quota for this show (looks at Vi and Cait). However, Jayce and Viktor have an infinitely more interesting dynamic and a much more genuine feeling relationship. They actually seem to have a connection and care for each other as people, to an extent I don't see with Mel. To me it felt like she was more interested in Jayce for his inventions. I honestly do with it woulda been Jayce and Viktor, and not just bc "Gay uwu" but genuinely bc it would be very engaging to explore their relationship develop. Ofc, relationships don't need to be romantic to be engaging. But just, with Jayce being a poster boy of the upper class and Viktor rising up from the dumps, it would create interesting conflict for them! Explore that please! It was so cool seeing them work together bc they play off of each other so well! And they were given actual bonding moments!!!!

I'll just say. They both exist to me, in my heart. The way I see it, Jayce and Mel are queerplatonic and Viktor has Feelings™ for Jayce, who is probably a little suppressed about his own feelings for him. Ofc it does clearly seem that he cares for Mel as well. I don't feel annoyed enough to gloss over that. But to me this is how it works and I'll be fine if they explore Viktor and Jayce's relationship in a meaningful way later on.

Also I'm not hating on Mel btw. Tbh I kinda wish she'd turned out to be a bit more devious, that woulda been interesting to me. I feel like she was only allowed to be interesting towards the end of the season (before that she was honestly just "Hot,,, lady👀👀support Jayce inventions??? She is mysterious and graceful,, in a hot way")

They’re both really old as-is, in fact Terra looks even older than Gwen as far as I can tell? They’re probably around the same physical age, although for Belos his chronological age is another matter entirely. Nevertheless, I’m obsessed with the idea and implication of Terra’s elderly age being a deliberate characterizing choice; The suggestion that she was an OG follower of Belos. Gwen and Bump remember and lived life before the coven, and Terra is even older than them; So she must’ve been an adult when she allied with Belos.

And this was when he was unpopular, before Belos became the status quo. When Belos and his ideals were the exception and the outcast, and yet Terra supported him at that point, helped see it all the way through. And that’s why Belos knows she’s legit; Terra is legitimately committed to this out of ideological belief, so faithful even in the face of society suggesting she shouldn’t, having raised her to think otherwise, but Terra’s ‘critical thinking’ allows her to see beyond that. Terra is no bandwagoner like the rest of these bozos, her trust was tested from the start and is as strong as ever.

And that implicit, age-old loyalty makes sense with how Belos entrusts Terra with brainwashing Raine, entrusts Terra with delivering his message to Luz. She knows he’s personally invested in this human because Belos told her, and entrusted Terra with keeping Luz alive. You just get the sense that Terra understands Belos, and vice-versa; That he appreciates and values her for being there when he started at rock bottom. That she’s devoted herself her entire life against all odds, and as an elderly woman is definitely not changing her mind anytime soon, especially after the trust and power she’s earned.

Plus, there’s the fact that they both have the vibes of sweet old people, but are also ruthless, psychological manipulators who play mind games on people; Something Belos trusted Terra with doing for him on Kikimora, for that matter. It’s the exact type of thing he’s done to Hunter and others after all, explicitly a test by him. He really believes Terra can act on his behalf and that implies they’re on a similar wavelength altogether. The mental warfare they play with those coy smiles of theirs is impeccable, as-is their enormous power and authority, so they could easily justify one another as being on their level anyhow, not that they may need that excuse; I don’t think nepotism played much of a role, if any, in Terra being so strong for example.

So again; Beloterra. Think about it, it could feasibly work with what’s given and maybe even be a LEGIT thing, for all we know; At the very least platonically... What if there’s parallels to Huntlow, for that matter; Wittebane brother falls in love with a female plant prodigy? Hunter is a clone of a brother, but the idea still stands, and disturbingly well too...

About Beloterra...

When I saw that ship at first, I thought it was funny, nothing more. In my hc, Belos will always be aroace. I also don't want to actually see him in any relationship in the series, for a number of reasons. I kinda ship it ironically / au / let's add unrequited love to that too because I had not thought about it that way and damn it makes sense. Terra looking at him like 👀.
