I absolutely LOVED the paralleled late night conversations Joel and Ellie had this episode. Not just because the verbatim framing, but just based off the way it underlined how their domesticity and connection had cultivated even further. In the forest, Ellie attempted treating Joel to a corny pun from her joke book. And he was mildly receptive to the joke and moderately indulged himself to actually answer it (man knows his dad jokes), but this was only momentarily turning over a new leaf. He was also quick to pivot away and brush off any further interaction for the night. And yet, much to his chagrin… he cracked a smile. He felt REAL, genuine amusement! Obscured from Ellie, mind you, but the smile melted away his otherwise cool and deadpan makeup he’d wear. By the tail end of the episode, when she told him another joke… he laughed. He laughed. The hex of humor tore down a barrier of Joel Miller, and he finally allowed himself to savor the value of it. The two of them giggled and cackled the night away as they enjoyed this sweet, sentimental, corny moment that demonstrated just how far their bond had pushed the envelope in an otherwise dire situation. They are bonding. I’m here for it

“Kate! Kate!” Babe and Grant ran up to Kate as she sat in her foxhole recovering after the bombing that had just occurred. 

“Yeah?” Kate asked, peering out of her hole. Babe and Grant panted from their run, hands on their knees catching their breath. 

“We can’t find Bella? Have you seen her?” Babe asked, looking concerned. Kate shook her head no. 

“Oh actually.” She said as she climbed out of the foxhole. “I can find her, hold on.” Kate straightened as Babe and Grant watched her. They were about to set off waiting for Kate to join in on the search, but she stood still. They looked at her curiously as she cupped her hands around her mouth. 

“Can I get a Hoooyahhhh?” Kate shouted loudly into the woods. Babe and Grant looked at each other perplexed. She raised her finger, signaling for them to wait. 

“Hoooyahhh!” Bella’s voice could be heard shouting in the distance. 

“There you go! She’s fine.” Kate smiled before happily skipping past the men.

“Ok Babe, put your hands on the top of your ribs.” Bella moved Babe’s hands into the correct position. “Bring your elbows forward.” Babe did as she asked. Kate watched with amusement as Bella manhandled Babe. “Then shrug your shoulders. Perfect. I love it!” Bella grinned happily with her work. 

“Ok now when I rap, you have to jerk your head around while nodding vigorously.” Babe looked very confused, but the two girls were very convincing. They had told him it was fun, so surely it would be. 

“Ok are you ready?” Bella asked Babe who was still holding the strange pose. He nodded, looking slightly nervous. Kate just grinned, her face hurting from how hard she was smiling. 

“Is this the thanks I get for putting you bitches on? Is it my fault that all of you bitches gone? Shoulda sent a thank you note, you little ho’. Now Imma wrap your coffin with a bow.” Bella rapped, as Babe tried his best to follow the instructions given to him. 

Kate roared with laughter watching Babe, his head hardly moved from side to side, but still shook furiously. It looked as if he was seizing, his eyes somehow rolling into the back of his head. Bella tried her best to continue the rap, but collapsed to the floor with Kate. 

“I can’t breathe!” Kate screeched holding her belly, as Bella laughed so hard no noise left her mouth. Tears rolled down Bella’s cheeks. Babe stopped his movements watching the girls rolling on the floor in fits of giggles. Bella and Kate tried their best to stop their laughter only for high pitched noises and grunts to leave their lips, sending them into more hysterics. 

All the while Babe was very confused at what he had done to make them lose their minds. 

“Did I do it right?” He asked, wanting the approval of his friends. He was met with wordless nods, and more cackling.

Bella sat in her foxhole, tears slipping down her cheeks, as she cried silently. 

“Bella? Bella, what's wrong?” Toye asked as he slipped into the hole beside her. His hands found her face, turning her towards him. 

“I miss them.” She sobbed loudly.  

“Who?” Toye asked, so that he could comfort her properly. 

“Satoru and Suguru!” Bella wailed, tilting her head back to cry more. 

“Who?” Toye asked confused, “Who the fuck are Satonyou and Subaru?”

“Oh, Toye!” Kate called jumping into the foxhole. She smiled brightly at the man. It confused him, since this was her best friend and she was clearly distraught. 

“Don’t worry I got this.” She moved to sit by Bella, who leaned against her, burying her face into her neck. 

“We don’t gotta be in love, no. I don’t gotta be the one, no. I just wanna be one of your girls tonight.” Kate sang to Bella. Bella removed her face from Kate’s neck, a smile tugging at her lips, as she continued the song from where Kate had stopped singing. 

“And when I walk in, all that I wanna hear. Is you say, “Daddy’s home, home for me.” Bella danced as she sang, clearly not sad anymore. Toye watched as she raised her hand, dipping her head to the same side she moved her hand. Her tongue poked out the side of her now smiling mouth. Toye gaped at Bella, totally baffled by the sudden change in emotion. 

“What the fuck?” Toy uttered, the two girls laughing, as Bella pulled stupid faces. 

“What is wrong with you two?” Toye asked genuinely, so confused and concerned for the pair. 

“Oh, so much, babe!” Bella laughed, patting Toye gently on the knee.

ok so. I’m sleeping over at grems house. this is a few days after I just got back from Rhode Island and I watched the tooth fairy movie with Stephen merchant, va of Wheatley. It’s been a while since I’ve played portal 2 so I’m picking up where I left off. chapter 8. scratching the itch. In which Wheatley has you complete incredibly easy testing chambers to satisfy him. And um. Each time u complete one. He moans. And lets out noises. U can also edge him in the game too. But uhm. That unlocked something inside of me and I had to pause right after that because I liked Wheatley before but now I like. Needed him. It was just like. Yeah I became Normal and it’s all grems fault. I started screaming uncontrollably. This was at 1-3am btw

UHHHH okay sOOO the simplest answer is probably black bc like. it wears a lotta black. military gear etc is usually black? but! its got this stupid orange striped short sleeve shirt thats actually like. a uniform (as in. I referenced the batman 2022 Arkham uniform when I first designed this idiot. yea) so its usually associated with either orange or red (for blood rawrrr)

2: what sort of music would they like? have you thought about what genres or bands do they lean towards? do they have a favorite song?

oh uh!!!!! I dont think this thing listens to music. tbh everything would be better if it did but! it get zero enrichment ever. so instead for this question I get to give you two songs I associate with it for some reason or another. because I said so. and those are House of Wolves (MCR) and Barbie Girl (Aqua). I want to know what you think of it from these two songs together because the combination is sooooo silly to me

19: are they quick to anger? what sets them off?

ooooo this one is fun to think about. mmm I think generally it's not very like,,, externally angry. it is in a perpetual state of something between annoyance and disdain almost all the time (when not Letting Loose), but that's a bit different from angry, I think. things that will make it snap at you: remove mask w/o permission, get touchy w it without permission. probably other things too I forget. things that will make it do super petty things and/or get revenge on you some other way: assume you've got the best of it. assume you're in charge. assume you're in control.

22: do they sleep well at night?

bold of you to assume it sleeps yea well uhh. its a pretty light sleeper I think but it can sleep wherever. no nightmares or w/e its just. rechargin I think

35: do they ever return home?

no. lol. zero percent chance of this thing ever returning home and idk if that ever even existed for it. if it gets a "happy" ending its going to have to claw that into existence itself. and why would it

blue! they wear the most black, again, but thats cause of the goofy suit thing I've got ingame. blue tie blue waistcoat blue accents on the gas mask, so blue's ended up as their color :3

4: how crafty/resourceful are they?

the wrench is their emoji because that's its main weapon. if that says anything. dont think it'd be the best at like. street brawlin no supplies no powers but it can be pretty inventive with the things it knows how to use.

5: how do they typically dress? does their wardrobe lean more towards practicality or aesthetics?

oh it's so stupid <3. suit jacket tie collared shirt waistcoat belt black cargo pants with big ole pockets fingerless gloves combat boots w straps and a belt chain. it's sooo stupid. <3333,,. character creators be like what if all the pieces we let you use were assorted pieces of other characters. OH and dont forget the half gas mask. when I made this guy I referenced one of two Literal Actual Techwear Official Dot Com gas masks. the pockets are practical at least? and thats just one outfit realistically it has other clothing too but idk what though. probably they steal clothing from the rogues lol

22: do they sleep well at night?

depends on where they are! with dork squad probably! unless one or more of them get on an inventing bend or something but it can just wrangle them back to sleep or at least to be quieter. with the sirens that's more of a wild card. depending on if harl's there she's def gonna wanna like stay up n talk or something. tbh though most things happen at night. like heists! :D but they can usually get a good sleep in. and even a lazy morning, probably!

30: do they smell like anything notable?

uhhh probably vaguely like flowers and/or fear toxin. lol. can you tell what I sourced this guy from yet

35: do they ever return home?

it never returns to where it came from, but that place (read: dimension. lol) was never really home. they do find a home, where they end up. and they're happy.

oh man how long has this guy been around? discord chat messages says I made him December 16 of last year. I do not know his birthday. it could just be dec 16 that would be silly. kayfabe though he doesn't really have one hes just Old lol. out of kayfabe hes like chill about bdays I think he'll get ppl close to him a present or whatever. in kayfabe he didnt really get it pre Punishment I dont think but with his whole Chained In A Human Body thing he gets to have a crisis! yay ! over He Is Aging and He Will Die !! again!!!! yipeee!!!

out of kayfabe as long as hes not too sore or w/e he's good. usually conked out from exercising. in kayfabe uhhh he thinks sleeping is weird. his lore says he never eats or sleeps or breathes but now he has to. and he hates it.

I think he goes to visit his parents sometimes :3 (outside kayfabe.) lol silly answer. in kayfabe nah the place he considers home is long gone and buried by time. and even if it still existed he'd never be able to reach it as he is. sorry
