Been thinking a lot lately about how Voyager could have used more recurring characters, but how difficult that is with the fact that Voyager does not stay in the same place for very long, and it's making me think that the Temporal Cold War might have made a better Voyager plot than an ENT one.
#they did a little bit of that with Braxton#but as a lover of time travel episodes they could have done more#plus the Krenim (time altering aliens) should have been a longer antagonist than just two episodes#I didn't particularly like the Temporal Cold War in ENT#because I felt like it was at odds with the premise of the show being a prequel#but I think time shenanigans might fit in with Kathryn 'Temporal Violations' Janeway#sporkandpringles original#star trek voy#star trek#time travel

i have a surak-era oc who i’m gonna ramble about here from time to time.
he’s from t’paal because i’m Fascinated by that region for some reason. i really wish there was more info on it but alas. i’ll have to make shit up as i go. he was born in one of the enclaves but i’m thinking he was raised in a temple of akraana there.
(people don’t know what the goddess akraana presided over, only that she was the wife(?) of the war god khosarr, so i’m gonna make things up. i’m thinking she was some kind of goddess of magic, prophecy, and art because it’s convenient and also cool. also since one of the enclaves where her disciples lived is now an artists’ enclave so it works. her worshippers were kinda like a mystery cult, similar to the cult of despoina, hence why people don’t know what her deal was today. sorry for the info dump, i find this kind of thing REALLY interesting so i think about it A Lot.)
so this guy was a disciple of akraana and raised in one of her temples. the reason why he was sent there as a child was because he had these “visions” of the past and the future. the actual reason for the “visions” was that his mind was frequently temporally displaced. not permanently or constantly like spock’s was in disco, but it kind of came and went? like he’d be going about his day and then all of a sudden BAM there’s gonna be a horrible famine here At Some Point in the Near Future. or BAM someone was murdered horrifically at this spot A Very Long Time Ago. or someone was born at this spot and a lot of people were full of joy about it A Very Long Time Ago. he couldn’t tell when exactly things happened/would happen, only vague impressions. this is why he was dropped off at the temple by his parents. they didn’t know how to deal with the visions and figured the temple people might. is this logical or at all responsible parenting? definitely not. but i’m thinking the visions put great mental strain on him and by extension his parents through the familial bonds so maybe sending him to live with the people who specialized in that kind of thing would be able to take care of him better. whether or not that’s true remains to be seen.
i have no idea how the temporal displacement happened, or why it isn’t like how spock’s was. at this point it’s plot convenience. idk maybe it’s some weirdo space entity?? idk idk. anywho he mistook the weirdo space entity for akraana (or maybe it was akraana. who knows. ANYWAY.)
so yeah he gets these visions. maybe they slowly drive him a little mad? i don’t know!! i’ll figure it out, or maybe i won’t. but yeah he gets visions and then writes them down in a bunch of notebooks over his life. he doesn’t know what most modern things are so they’re written through a kind of fantastical/mythological lens. he predicts different wars with aliens but he doesn’t know they’re aliens so he calls them like, demons or spirits or whatever. even technology that could be found at that time he probably didn’t know about, because i’m imagining that the temple/area he was raised in was one of the ones that was generally against technology. so if he were to predict the radiation from the nuclear weapons being used at the time, people wouldn’t know what he meant until it was happening.
eventually the notebooks are found and now they’re in a museum somewhere displaying the history of the region. most historians dismiss his prophecies as the ramblings of a madman but those who look closely enough do admit it is somewhat eerie how they seem to mirror a lot of big historical events.
for example, a ship full of vengeful demons wearing the faces of vulcans emerging from a portal, who will consume t’khasi from the inside out.
anywho. at the moment his name is tova. this is subject to change. his story is pretty barebones at the moment and is little more than a concept that i’ve written out here in a very long winded post. i’ll probably flesh it out some more, add some much needed Drama and probably a healthy serving of Angst, as you do.
#pre-surak times#the time of surak#the timeline is a little wishy washy rn#he was alive at the same time as surak but was born before surak started his logic campaign#i’m thinking tova probably dies young. like twenties young.#either because of temporal displacement related reasons or civil war related reasons#or maybe he doesn’t!! maybe he gets old and grey#or there’s time travel shenanigans#i haven’t decided yet#anywho#sorry for the really long winded post full of me getting side tracked repeatedly#vulcan history#vulcans#star trek aos#star trek#tova

I like the general fandom trend to just take the plot of Hyrule Warriors as a loose guideline at best and just use the whole concept as a good excuse to get blorbos to interact across timelines, BUT I'm very disappointed that everyone is missing the comedic potential of a very specific squad of characters:
Young Link (aka Mask), who walks out of the nightmare of Majora's Mask and immediately gets portal kidnapped into a temporal war, takes one look at the whole mess and decides that you could not fucking pay him to admit to being the resident expert on Time Shenanigans. He introduces himself with the title of Hero of Termina, and definitely doesn't have any other ones, that would be crazy. Hero of Time? Never heard of him.
Tetra, who is a kickass pirate captain with zero patience for people trying to shove her into the Designated Princess role, and realizes immediately that Oh Fuck, this Hyrule has a lot of Ideas about how the Hero and the Princess are supposed to properly play their parts, the second they realize she's technically a Zelda they're gonna shove her in a goddamn dress and damsel her again, that's not happening. So she's definitely just a really cool pirate captain, nothing else going on here at all, definitely not the heir of the Hylian royal family in her time, that'd be crazy.
Ravio, who is literally just a palette swapped Link, meaning that the second his hood comes off, things are gonna get Awkward. There's no way in hell he's dealing with all that Hero baggage, that's Link work, so that giant bunny hood/mask is practically superglued to his head, and he's not taking it off for love or money.
Spirit Tracks Zelda, who is just in the Phantom Armour the whole time, and passing herself off as just a friendly ghost posessing a suit of armour to help the Hero of Spirits. Of course she isn't Princess Zelda, that's ridiculous, if she were a Zelda then people would start getting really weird about her technically being dead, and boy does that ever sound like a whole Thing she doesn't want to deal with, so she can't possibly be Zelda, she's just a nice ghost knight. Also, her teenage grandma is here, and that's kinda weird, so it's easier to just not admit to being royalty and avoid that awkward conversation.
Finally there's Sheik, who is not the Princess Zelda of the era straight up abandoning her war torn country for months at a time so she can risk her life in extreme cosplay for no clear reason, but is instead the actual Sheik from Ocarina of Time, who just beat Ganondorf like a month ago and is still trying to process what the fuck to do now. Also, he's been pretending to be a boy since he was ten, and is realizing there's a pretty good chance that he isn't pretending anymore, so that's a whole other can of worms. But for the last seven years of his life, being Princess Zelda meant certain death, so he's not really inclined to introduce himself like when in a new and stressful situation (not to mention he might actually just not be a girl named Zelda anymore), so he automatically introduces himself as just Sheik the spooky ninja man, and fuck he's in too deep to back out now, looks like he's committing to the bit. If you think you sense the Triforce of Wisdom on him, no you don't.
Cue shenanigans as the five of them attempt to hide that they're all actually kind of A Big Deal. The group motto is "Nobody says shit", which is usually delivered as a frantic hiss whenever someone slips up. Just the reunion between Sheik and Mask alone would be absolutely buckwild given how they parted, and how they're both frantically pretending to Not be involved with each other. For added hilarity and/or drama, Sheik gives his semi-bullshit cover story of having just been a friend of the Hero of Time, then runs into said Hero of Time and they both have to desperately pretend not to know each other, because if anyone picks up on the mountain of baggage between them then Mask is busted, and he won't hesitate to drag Sheik down with him out of sheer spite. Not to mention the weird balance of Sheik being used to this Link being a teenager that's actually a small child, and now has to adjust to Link who is a small child that's actually a teenager.
Also, i really feel like we're all missing out on the comedy potential of Ganondorf recognizing Young Link on sight and the two of them immediately launching into a grudge match with some extremely personal and specific insults on both sides. Meanwhile literally everybody else is just standing there watching, trying to process the fact that out of every single person that's been pulled out of time, Ganondorf only has personal beef with a literal nine year old.
I just feel like we're all really sleeping on the potential for Shenanigans here. The whole thing is an absurd mess, why not have some fun with it?
#legend of zelda#hyrule warriors#for the record im picturing the sheik-mask reunion as being the spiderman pointing meme for like five minutes#also my mental image of sheik is extremely Bad haircut (he does it himself with a knife and doesnt care about making it even)#and a ridiculous tanline across his face from wearing a mask all day#OOT magiaclly growing out zelda's hair and manifesting a Royal Gown was some top tier bullshit and i'm always angry about it#like dude. literally all of princess zelda's finery was made for a ten year old#she's like eighteen now. nobody's making royal finery for teenage zelda. where was she supposed to get that dress.#i am eternally on my agenda to let zelda wear some goddamn pants without an immediate magic makeover to *fix* it#anyways nintendo's sexism aside i like sheik being trans its very fun and sexy of him#tfw you go into hiding to escape political assassination and accidentally trans your gender in the process

I finished Prodigy!
I’m so thankful the creators didn’t give up on this show and that Netflix saved it!
This show did so many things right.
It felt like the stakes were always high yet without having to worry about pointless deaths for shock value.
It invented a new species on Solum that we had never met before and made us care about them.
It brought back beloved characters (Janeway, Chakotay, The Doctor, Wesley, Beverly) while still focusing on the new main characters.
It tied into the live action shows seamlessly while still forging its own future and story.
And while it may take my brain a while to unravel all the time travel shenanigans (I didn’t take Temporal 101!), I was too swept up in the story to worry about it!
It did what good Star Trek does and left us with hope.
Now, where are the Murf in a Starfleet uniform plushies, because I want one! 😄

Now importantly a temporal violation does not mean “instance of time travel” but rather “action taken during the time travel to mess up the timeline.”
Over the course of the original series Kirk and the enterprise have 5 instances of time travel which I will list below, and then notably the instance in The Voyage Home, which included the most violations per instance.
The naked time-TOS 1.4- the enterprise travels 71 hours back in time using a full power restart of the warp engines after an environmental disaster drives everyone on the ship insane. This violation caused a split in the timeline.
Tomorrow is yesterday- TOS 1.19- time travel to 1960’s earth via a high gravity black star. Temporal violations include the tearing up of a jet plane and transport of the pilot to the Enterprise, breaking into an air base and exposing several others to future technology. They then slingshot around the sun to reverse time and erase the memories of those involved. This is implied to be a closed loop because of the mind wiping but they exposed themselves to many people who were not mind wiped, which means it may have still resulted in at least one temporal violation.
City on the edge of forever - TOS 1.28- time travel using the guardian of forever to 1930’s NYC, the Edith keeler incident. Violations include their presence in the time period, stealing clothes and parts, encounters with policemen and the homeless. It is implied that this is a closed loop as Keeler ended up in the accident due to crossing the street to meet Kirk, however this is unlikely as they interacted with many people apart from Keller and would have impacted their lives.
Assignment earth- TOS 2.26- time travel to 1968 earth “for historical research” and attempt stop an agent from blowing up a rocket. Their presence is a temporal violation, and they cause several other violations in attempt to stop Gary Seven including an extended encounter with the 1968 police. They argue this is a closed loop but let’s be honest it is for sure not.
All our yesterdays - TOS 3.23- time travel to the history of the planet Sarpeidon, their presence being a temporal violation as well as a breach of the prime directive.
Finally: Star Trek IV the voyage home- time travel to 1986 San Fransico via a slingshot maneuver around the sun. During this trip enterprise crew members:
Revealed the existence of a Klingon warbird to a number of individuals including sanitation workers and park goers as well as a large whaling vessel
Asking any number of California residents about the location of nuclear vessels on the street
Diving into a whale tank in the Monterey bay Aquaruim in full view of god and everyone, and in the same trip revealing subtlety that whales would go extinct in the future
Utilizing a Vulcan neck pinch to shut up a punk on the bus
Breaking into a nuclear facility and temporarily draining it of power, causing a high alert status
An encounter with law enforcement wherein they were exposed to future information and technology
Breaking into a hospital and impersonating doctors, resulting in a general ruckus and the return to health of many sick people, notably using future technology to grow a woman a new kidney
Borrowing a Huey helicopter to transport glass
Trading the formula for transparent aluminum for materials needed to build the whale tank
Exposing knowledge of the future to one Gillian Taylor, eventually resulting in her removal from the timeline
It is unclear whether the events of Yesteryear in TAS would count as they are in fact confirmed to be a closed loop.
By my count this is 15, ten of which are a result of the one visit for the whales and 5 of which are from episodes. The remaining two probably have been lumped in with the listed 15. The majority of the violations involve their presence in historical events and interacting with people during said events, which could be said to be relatively minor but most likely requires a lot of clean up from temporal agents. Obviously many of the events during the voyage home were far more egregious and involved blatantly revealing future technology to people.
But like. He also saved the world a bunch. So maybe cut him some slack, temporal agents
#Star Trek#tos#time travel#long post#in conclusion yes that man was a menace#TNG had one incident which is Time’s Arrow#DS9 has two which are Past Tense and Trials and Tribbleations#(not including little green men because they’re not starfleet lol)#Janeway manages to match Kirk though#depending on how you count voyager has anywhere from 5-8 incidents of this sort which almost all result in much worse violations#since breaking the prime directive is Janeways life passions#ENT has about three major incidents of going backwards in time but also#they were involved in so many time shenanigans temporal investigations was probably created just for them#anyway I had fun

Hey, you!
Yes, you. With the hat.
Have you ever fervently wished that Dr Watson had a time machine so he could go back and save Holmes from dying at the Reichenbach Falls?
Well guess what! @jabbage and I put our heads together a little while back and wrote an AU where he does! Hooray!
This is part of our wider ongoing Watson Is A Time Lord series, in which the reason Watson is played by two actors in the Granada Show is because he's a Time Lord. Duh.
Anyway, enjoy the temporal shenanigans!

I don't like Sarah Z as a creator or an "investigative reporter". I've been involved in drama that she has callously stuck herself into and the churned into a video for clicks in the past, ignoring the real trauma undergone by those involved. Given this I'm annoyed that the Sarah Z video has become the go-to resource for why "Homestuck and Andrew Hussie are evil and bad now".
I don't doubt that most of what she reported was true, but I think that corporate mismanagement by inexperienced creatives is probably less of a scandal than it's been made out to be, and I sure as hell don't trust her to do a good job of the framing. It doesn't have to affect how you feel about the comic, its fandom or the current projects associated with it.
You still can't download Temporal Shenanigans legally anymore because the original creator took it down from the album and transformed the youtube uploads into banner icons to protest Homestuck for mistreating Sarah Z and honestly it's all very fucking silly from where I'm standing.

Ingo and Ingo and Emmet Hop The Multiverse
-Premise- On a day that would have otherwise been entirely unremarkable, Ingo and Emmet- Long standing Unova Subway Bosses -stumble across a very strange missing link. It would seem that, somewhere in the history books, there is a man named Ingo who looks just like him, yet they have no Sinnohan family lineage or any other sort of family ties that would lead them to believe this isn't some impossibly insane coincidence. Unable to let this strange thread go, the two of them decide to take investigation into their own hands.
With the assistance of some higher powers as curious and whimsical as they are, if not more, they travel back into Hisuian history and find... Ingo. A man just like him- A man who seems to have been Emmet's brother... But it doesn't seem quite right! Their benefactors can confirm that they don't have any temporal disturbances lined up for them, which can only mean... He is not Emmet's twin. Or rather, not this Emmet's twin.
Determined to return him exactly where he belongs and reunite this brother who fell so far from home, the three of them set off across the multiverse- Helping every other set of alternate twins they encounter along the way!
-Noteworthy Points- This AU is open for crossovers! The wacky adventures of Emmet, his brother Ingo, and his other brother who is Also Ingo. They've adopted him. It's essentially an open ended fix-it fic for me (or us!) to invent silly, emotional, or extremely unlikely scenarios for multiverse shenanigans :D
The two Ingos differentiate from each other with their clothing, and they also go by different names. Warden Ingo goes simply by Warden, and I haven't decided what Subway Boss Ingo goes by, but I think it's likely he often just gets called "Brother" because that is what Emmet defaults to calling him when differentiating between the two.
Speaking of their clothing! Their outfits are custom made! (Elesa hooked them up, they returned home to make plans and get to know Warden better!) This is primarily so they can distinguish each other from alternate selves, but also so that they don't accidentally lose each other in the shuffle. Warden's coat is still his original coat, just now outfitted/dyed to match the other two. His arm band is completely untouched, though. (Arm band symbolism, as you can see, is my fucking BRAND)
The logos on the twins' hats and on Warden's pin/tunic are a design I made :D
Lastly! They have MANY gadgets and doodads! Their benefactor tech'd them out for their adventures with lots of safety equipment and other items needed for cross-dimensional travel, and presumably they also watch their antics closely and with great amusement. I haven't decided exactly who is helping them, but so far we're leaving it ambiguously open to one or more legendary pokemon. (Dialga and Palkia are high up there but I have yet to decide.)
They are going to cause so many hijinks.
-Links- Currently none! I will update this post with links to comics/art/writing if/when I post any!

Once again, Emmett scoffs, this time sharper so that there's no room to misinterpret his opinion on his counterpart's deplorable—and rather concerning—actions. ❝The point is, he allowed Hill Valley to become this❞—with a grand, yet no less disgusted gesture, he indicates the monitors strewn across the desk, the cameras looming ominously above—Big Brother, indeed! all that was missing were the on-the-nose signs—❝and either doesn't see why that's a problem or isn't willing to do something about it. If you ask me, he might've benefitted from a—❞
He trails off, remembering himself. He might benefit from biting his tongue in this situation and avoiding vilifying his counterpart in front of Marty, who clearly, at least in some capacity, looks up to him.
The pit slowly opening up in his stomach as he catches every single one of Marty's broken expressions becomes a chasm and Emmett does his best to not allow the hurt over the obvious fear in his eyes, the shattered pieces of his self-worth crumbling before him, to show on his face.
Marty's emotions are too fragile, too mercurial to allow him any moment to try and address everything written so painfully clear across his face, so he chooses to focus on the most poignant part of his disbelief—their seemingly impossible friendship.
Emmett nods, slowly. ❝You have friends where I'm from, even if I haven't met them all personally. I've heard you talk about them often enough to the point where I could almost say I know them. But you were my first—besides my dog Einstein, that is—in a while and you're still my closest friend today.❞
Instinct tells him to reach for the boy and initiate physical contact as a grounding mechanism as he's done time-and-time again over the course of their friendship, something that, while once awkward, has since become second-nature. But Marty's visceral reaction to him even calmly approaching him is enough to make him rethink that—he certainly can't blame the young man.
If his counterpart is as prominent and powerful as this office and Marty have led him to believe, being approached in such a manner likely spells disaster.
❝No more contingently false than I am standing here in your reality right now,❞ Emmett admits, working beyond his surprise to hear such concepts coming from his dear friend's mouth. The nature of this conversation makes his skin crawl. "A possible world is nothing more than the maximal mereological sum of spatiotemporally related things—something existing differently doesn't make it any less real. You're as real as I am, Marty. Arguably more so, as I'm the one who doesn't belong here."
There's something about Marty's readiness to accept that he and his reality are nothing but a falsehood, a blight to be corrected, that sets Emmett's stomach turning. He has neither the heart nor the will to divulge what he knows regarding the correction of temporal aberrations, at least not yet, and he can only hope he will never have to, no matter how the secret will fester and rot inside him.
His better judgment be damned, Emmett reaches out and places a gentle hand on Marty's shoulder.
❝I'll explain in more detail about what happened to bring me here elsewhere, I promise—I can't shake the feeling, despite this being my office, someone is watching me right now as well.❞ It's likely paranoia talking, but he would be in no way surprised to find his counterpart was being watched as vigilantly as the citizens of Orwell Valley.
❝Thank you for still agreeing to help me—I don't think I'd be able to get through this without you. You said I—my counterpart—has a lab in secret out by the ravine. Do you know how to get there? I assume I've still got a car here—that's about two miles out, assuming something hasn't drastically changed the terrain.❞
Martin bites his lip. Part of him-- the part he wants Jennifer to see, the part he thinks he shares with Dave and Linda-- feels vindicated. Yes, Citizen Brown was the architect of not just the city, but of all their problems too. But the other part of him knows how reluctant Citizen Brown is to go home at the end of the night, his sallow face, his sunken eyes.
"...I... I don't know about unchallenged, sir," he admits, clasping his left wrist behind his back and lowering his gaze. The man in front of him as he was now certainly never would have given up without a fight.
He looks up instantly at the other's encouragement, eyes wide in disbelief.
"...Really?" Martin asks, desperately searching his face. There's a spark of hope in his eyes, but it's faint and fragile and immediately extinguished by his rejection. The boy's face falls, rapidly flashing through horror, hurt, and panic, as if the idea of causing Citizen Brown offense brought him actual pain.
Before he can apologize, everything completely shatters. The words ring in his ears, the rest of the universe and the world outside fading into static.
"I... I have a friend?..." he says before he can stop himself. His composure falling apart by the second, he runs his hands down his face before running them through his hair. "What am I saying-- Jesus, that's pathetic, I'm pathetic-- I mean... you're saying that you're... friends with... with me?..."
Martin reflexively backs away from the man as he advances, but after a moment and a guilty look, carefully takes the photograph.
It's unquestionably him, happier in one split second than he's ever felt in his life.
Burning, stinging heat pricks at his eyes as he stares at the image, watching it blur in front of him. His breath hitches and he squeezes his eyes shut.
After a long moment, he opens them, returning Cit--Doctor Brown's gaze.
"So... the Everett interpretation... modal realism." Martin's tone sounds breathless and hollow as he slowly starts to speak. His hands start to shake. "You're from a possible world. Or this is the possible world. And I'm a... what, a-a contingent proposition? If... If this is true," he indicates the photograph, his voice straining as it rises in pitch, "and it is, that means that all of this... that I-I'm... contingently false?"
He takes a moment to take in a shaky breath, digging his thumb and his forefinger into his eyes.
"I, um..." Martin continues, quiet, "I gotta say it makes sense." His shoulders fall, looking much too old and far too young all at once. "I'll... I'll help you, Doctor Brown. Something must have gone really wrong to make you end up here. I'm sorry."
#MARTIN NOTICING THOSE THINGS ABOUT CB HAS ME SOME KIND OF WAY I'M NOT EVEN GONNA LIE....#it's so true though - god he's as bad as marty was in tp making excuses to always stay later and later at doc's place and not go home#martin i am also S O sorry that you gotta hear doc's unfettered opinions about himself in other realities. it's all part of getting older#and learning A LOT about yourself via temporal shenanigans. that near decade in the old west really changes a guy#HE MEANS IT MARTIN MUSIC IS YOUR CALLING HNNNNNNNNNN - you are going to be encouraged to play i promise#icb you'd attack me like this#not doc trying just as hard to help marty here despite knowing this timeline is going to be erased#timechange#&; i‚ doctor emmett l. brown... 「 ic 」#&; we've got everything under control 「 v. * cb 」#「 arc. * timechange / life is sustained by the grinding opposition of moral entities. 」#also DEF not doc trying to avoid the reality of the situation unfolding before him because let's just NOT talk about that maybe.#at least not right now. we'll see about later#so doc how do you feel about golf carts??? fjlasdjf he l p.

I'm 30 years late, but...
Star Trek: Deep Space Nine originally aired when I was 10 years old. I loved Next Generation when I was a kid, so I gave DS9 a try back then... and immediately grew bored of it. They weren't going to new planets or having space battles, they were just sitting around in one place discussing space politics, and there wasn't even anyone funny like Data to hold my attention. So, I stopped watching after a couple episodes.
But, since I keep hearing it ended up being the best Trek seres, I've decided to go ahead and give it a full watch-through. Maybe now that I'm 40 and have more life experience under my belt, I can appreciate it more.
Turns out I do! I've finished the first season, so I'll give a run-down of what I thought of the S1 episodes below the cut:
1-2. Emissary: All right, I actually understand the premise this time which completely went over my head as a kid. The Bajorans were under Cardassian occupation for decades, the Federation showed up and drove them out, now the Federation is in control of the Cardassian space station DS9 to help the Bajorans rebuild and return to self-governance. But wait! Turns out there's a wormhole that goes to the other side of the galaxy here and it's suddenly become prime space real-estate! And the wormhole is inhabited by... mysterious non-temporal entities that spit out a magic orbs from time to time and the Bajorans worship them as prophets.
3. Past Prologue: Garak is queer-coded like whoa and gives Bashir a taste of his own medicine about not respecting boundaries. Is also possibly like a quadruple-agent. And tailors a fine suit. Also, Kira got a haircut. There's rats on spaceships?! Oh, that's just Odo. Okay. Still, the fact that he considered that a convincing disguise means there's rats on spaceships?!
4. A Man Alone: A guy backstabs himself and blames Odo for it.
5. Babel: Poor overworked O'Brien gets so stressed out he starts speaking in tongues. Then it turns out it's contagious. And it turns out that it's because someone sabotaged the station decades ago with a dyslexia virus and then just kind of forgot about it.
6. Captive Pursuit: This actually touches on a moral question I'd been wondering about if we ever end up with sentient AI: If something is bred/programmed to like being oppressed, is it more moral to remove it from its oppression even if that makes it miserable, or to return it to its oppression if that's what makes it happy? This episode chose the latter.
7. Q-Less: A surprisingly boring Q-centric episode whose only shenanigans involved a space stingray Vash was trying to sell off. Q really does miss Picard.
8. Dax: Oh, another philosophical thought-experiment: If you committed a crime and then get reincarnated in a traceable manner and retain all the memories of your previous incarnation, can your current incarnation be held liable for your previous incarnation's actions? This episode decides it doesn't want to answer this because she's not guilty, anyway.
9. The Passenger: Bashir becomes even more insufferable and nobody notices.
10. Move Along Home: Samurai hippies come through the wormhole and demand everyone LARP with them whether they like it or not.
11. The Nagus: Quark falls victim to one of the classic blunders, the most famous of which is "Never get involved in a land war with Asia". But only slightly less well-known is this: "Never get involved with a Ferengi when profit is on the line".
12. Vortex: So... Odo just lets a guy get away with murder because he has a sob story and claimed he knew others of his kind? Just because he was wanted unjustly on his home planet does not change the fact that he murdered a guy for hire. Also, Odo can get knocked out by a rock?
13. Battle Lines: Remember that "Great Divide" episode of Avatar: The Last Airbender that everyone hated? No reason.
14. The Storyteller: O'Brien goes down to Bajor to fix the pipes, becomes God.
15. Progress: Kira has to go convince a Boomer to leave his land because they need the resources to rebuild the planet, but he's all "I got mine, screw them." She humors his sexist behavior all episode, then burns his house down.
16. If Wishes Were Horses: Bashir wishes for his own personal side-piece Dax, and real Dax is weirdly okay with this because "boys will be boys". The conflict in this episode is literally solved by thinking happy thoughts.
17. The Forsaken: Odo gets sexually harassed so reports it to HR who just laughs him off because they think it would be good for him to get laid. Then he gets stuck in an elevator with his stalker and it's revealed just how physically strenuous it is for him to maintain his human form all day, and yet he has never been afforded any accommodations beyond a bucket to sleep in. This poor space slime, no wonder he's always so grumpy. #JusticeForOdo
18. Dramatis Personae: TNG's "The Inner Light", but stupid. Once again Odo has to save the day because he's immune to the humanoid crazypox that seems to infect the station every half-dozen episodes, and yet they still just can't find it in their effects budget to adjust station operations enough to allow him the minimal comfort of not having to contort himself into human form every day until he collapses just to do his job.
19. Duet: I am a sucker for "Did the janitors on the Death Star deserve to die?" sorts of moral discussions, and this episode delivered that very well. Also, I'm in lesbians with Kira.
20. In the Hands of the Prophets: Lady who doesn't even have kids at the school nevertheless takes issue that the children aren't being taught in accordance to her religious beliefs. It's been 30 years since this came out and nothing changes.
All in all, a decent season 1. It does show its age in places, especially in its treatment of female characters, and being written before the internet and smartphones caused seismic cultural shifts that its vision of the future failed to take into account. But still, I'm liking it now that I actually understand what's going on. On to season 2!

TL-5956 Survival Headcanons
Involving: Some bending of the rules to make it more likely for these guys to have survived for 12+ years and counting, the likelihood I misread at least one part of how this all works so please don’t kill me, various overthinking shenanigans, me being a lil mean to characters, and my unabashed mental illness
and a sizable amount of text under the read more (not even kidding it’s like 1,500+ words LMAO)
THE PARADOX
Exclusively red monochromacy. This is not a visual filter sort of effect, everything has turned red. This actually isn’t a head canon it’s something Harry told me and it fucks me up. Actually a lot of this specific section is shit from the article itself that I’m emphasizing for fun.
The sky has become pitch black, and the horizon is rimmed by red like a macabre sunset. There is no difference between night and day. The sun will never rise here again.
Site-43 remains the single most stable area in the wake of the K-Class Paradox, and is considered the last bastion of human civilization. The rest of the world is left a nonsensical, contradictory wasteland due to spatial and temporal damages. Any entity you find roaming those reddened wastes are no longer what they once were. Do not engage, for those who wander are lost.
Randomized increases and decreases in the number of perceivable temporal dimensions results in visual distortion of surroundings. Added extrasensory perceptions may increase this disorientation in survivors. It takes a lot of getting used to, that constant bombardment.
Due to condensation of vaporous substances, there has been a sharp global temperature increase. Everything is humid.
Site-43 Condition
The following parts of the Site are lost/heavily damaged:
Euclid and Keter Class Wings of the Security and Containment Sections [Detonated, First Sublevel is functionally abandoned due to instability]
Applied Occultism [Second Sublevel, damaged by detonation and other breach occurances]
Archives and Revisions Section [Burned]
All underwater site facilities and utilities. [Completely destroyed]
With each instance of the breach, all areas that were previously destroyed become reverted to their 2002 states, then re-destroyed. This results in these locations being able to be scrapped and harvested for functionally renewable supplies after each amelioration of the breach. These salvaged supplies only vanish with the causal loop’s reset if they are left within their original area.
Due to the heavy damage done to the First Sublevel of the site, the Second Sublevel is left similarly unstable structurally and partially collapsed. Both Sublevels are abandoned sans annual gathering of supplies.
The Third Sublevel of the Site remains the most structurally stable and safest part of Site-43, the surviving personnel remain here.
The Inner-Sectional Subway System is no longer in operation due to sustained damages during the breach, but its tunnels are still utilized for transportation to different areas of the Site by foot.
Site’s power remains in operation, requires vigorous upkeep.
Food/Water
Meal, Ready-to-Eat (MRE) rations were the primary food source for several years as research was directed towards the creation of a renewable food supply. They have a metric fuck ton of rations to work with, but it's always smart to look for alternatives Just In Case, y'know?
Due to the fact that everything is red, and there is a notable lack of a sun, growing traditional plants is out of the equation because I don’t think we’re photosynthesizing in these conditions. However, what they can grow and cultivate is things such as mushrooms and algaes! Utilizing waste from the site as fertilizer, gathering soil, and perhaps a bit of GE to make sure they’re not eating anything toxic and getting the right vitamins — they can grow food. It’ll take work, but can be done with enough care. Keeping out mold will be a nightmare but god love 'em they're trying.
A handful of stray storage closets and part of the Hiring and Regulation Section have been converted into spaces for food growing
There is probably a whole bunch of shit they could science their way through when it comes to synthesizing food that isnt just mushroom farming tbh. Like turning petroleum and CO2 into food
Bottled water stores ran out swiftly. Water is primarily gathered through the usage of moisture traps (see: increased humidity). Due to SCP-001-A the harvesting of these traps are risky endeavors, and require a pre-setup of dilution equipment to ensure a lack of reflectivity. This harvested liquid is then abated to reduce risk of anomalous effects, and stored/distributed to personnel. Prior to his death in 2023, Dougall Deering would accompany those harvesting to ensure 001-A’s pacification.
Any and all site wastewater is subjected to purification processes to acquire as much drinkable water as possible. Nothing goes to waste.
Lake Huron itself and any groundwater adjacent to the site is unreachable and unusable due to SCP-001-B and SCP-001-C.
There’s probably a vending machine or two that’s caught up in the 2002 causal loop reset that they can loot each year. They can have some treats, as a treat.
For all I know this is one of those weird space-time situations where no one actually needs to eat or drink but sshhhhh it's fun to think about
Supplies
After each causal loop, the areas of the Site that are restored and re-destroyed are functionally “refreshed”. Though still heavily damaged and destroyed, these areas can be looted each year for materials -- copper wiring, plating, materials to repair other parts of the site, possible acquisition of rations and water.
Clothing from transmogrified personnel annually slain in the Archives and Revision and Applied Occultism can sometimes be recovered for use in repairing existing clothing, or as medical bandaging.
Sections and faculties of the Site that go unused in the wake of the Paradox have been stripped; materials moved elsewhere for post-breach repairs and general maintenance of vital site functions.
Excursions outside of the Site are risky and dangerous -- though as successful containments of the breach have occurred, stability around Site-43 has begun to increase and grow safer. Nearby areas are occasionally scouted for any usable materials that remain, or were brought about by spatial/temporal distortions.
The building of the REISNO Cannon was a nightmare to build in spite of its small size -- due to the amount of brute-forcing they had to do with its construction. When PHMD build the PXE alone, it took far more supplies to build.
Medical Care
To aid individuals wounded by SCP-001-A, able bodied personnel are encouraged to donate blood.
These guys are working overtime due to the inherent dangers of the Paradox, doing the best they can to ration out their supplies and create what they can to help others.
Some members of personnel need to undergo treatment for sialorrhea, as the excessive production of saliva can put them at risk of both SCP-001-A and dehydration.
Medical personnel worked with the Memetics and Countermemetics Section to create Solution 001-A.
SCP-001-A
All reflective surfaces have either been destroyed, scuffed and scratched so that they are no longer reflective, or treated with Solution 001-A.
Application of Solution 001-A results in a clouding of the eyes and an impairment of vision. In light of added perceptions due to SCP-001, this is considered a blessing in disguise.
Any personnel who had glasses has either had them destroyed, or took out the lenses from the frames.
Individuals wounded by -A are often given two options — needing to rigorously clean their wounds and be given bi-monthly blood transfusion to counteract the inability of the wound to heal and the risk of infection; or undergo amputation to completely rid themselves of the injury. For individuals whose injuries are not localized to their limbs, amputation cannot be done and the wounds simply must be taken care of. Seeing personnel with always bloody bandages, amputated limbs and prosthesis are not uncommon sights.
Bandages for -A wounds must be prior soaked in Solution 001-A, and wrapped tight, as to avoid the risk of the blood’s reflection. This is preferably done by medical staff, who have recordkeeping of all individuals wounded by -A.
SCP-001-B
Keepers of 001-B cannot communicate and over time grow conceptually vague, but the cycling of -B occurs while individuals are still recognizable. The Memetics and Countermemetics Section is in charge of the recordkeeping of Keepers.
Keepers can still interact with others and show their presence through physical touch and facial expressions.
I don’t know if they are capable of writing, but it’d be cool if they devised a non-verbal and non-words series of drawn symbols and gestures for Keepers to utilize as a way to quasi-get around the anomaly. However “cannot communicate” could extend to “writing and sign language
SCP-001-C
Lake Huron is to be avoided at all costs. Any individual attempting an excursion outside of Site-43 (typically for the gathering of biological materials from dead trees/foliage/etc) is not to approach due to the risk of the water rising again.
SCP-001-D
Respiration from the anomaly sometimes results in structural damage to the Site, or tremors, which requires repair.
The Survivors
The Site’s original population has been cleaved -- both by the initial breach’s heavy losses, and subsequent accidents. Only a little over 100 people remain come the 2030s, and Site-43 functions on a stretched-thin skeleton crew.
Agent Radcliffe -- A bit torn up here and there from encounters with spectral and temporal entities, but is mostly okay.
Agent Gwilhem -- Has a bad shoulder due a shrapnel injury. She has taken charge of the remaining members of MTFs Alpha-43, Beta-43 and Delta-43.
Technician Markey -- One of many individuals issuing repairs and maintenance to Site-43, he has sustained various small injuries to his hands due to his work. Lost a finger when it was crushed in a collapsing pipe.
Dr. Wirth -- Has become pockmarked by various burn scars across his face and hands over the breaches. He received deep wounds across his stomach from SCP-001-A in 2027. Will never forgive himself.
Chief Mukami -- Has taken major charge within the Site, primary maintainer of reports and processing of incidents. She has a few sparse injuries from an instance in which the bulkhead jammed during one of the loops, and she was injured by shrapnel.
Technician Ambrogi -- Another individual who aids in site repairs, he would lose his leg in the aftermath of the initial breach due to structural damage caused by the detonation of the Keter and Euclid Wings, resulting in a small collapse of a hallway. Now utilizes a ramshackle leg prosthesis.
Dr. Del Olmo -- Has sustained two injuries from SCP-001-A, a clawmark to the upper thigh, and one to the shoulder. Initially had turned down the offer of amputation due to their locations, but would have his leg amputated after severe infection years later.
Dr. Deering -- Unscathed until the day he died. While everyone around him was hurt and bleeding and dying, he was always fine. It’s unclear if this is out of luck, or punishment. He thinks the latter.
PHMD -- Injured by SCP-001-A shortly upon retrieval, receiving claw marks to the face and lower arm. Turned down amputation of the arm, claiming he needed both hands for his work. Wounds had become severely infected by the time he went missing due to neglect.
Dr. Ngo -- Had a tendency to throw herself into danger to help others, was never wounded by SCP-001-A, but was a bit scuffed up due to other small scale accidents. Was practically the backbone of the Site for some people, as the only remaining psychologist, a lodestar of hope against this nightmare. Her death is still mourned.
Dr. Reynders -- Mostly unscathed, aside from a few injuries -- notably one to her cheek from a temporal entity. Has gone missing.
Chronological reversions seem to have odd effects on those still alive. The running theory is that SCP-001 has severely slowed their aging to preserve their lives.
The See You In Hell PTF members are all friend-adjacent in my heart of hearts. Breach containment solidarity. Maybe a bit rough against the edges but we gotta tough it out together. All we’ve got is each other now, yknow?

TRIAL PART 1 IS OUT, LET'S TALK ABOUT IT!
I can't belive it actually happened, but the first half of the trial is actually out. At the time of writing this, currently been 17 hours since it come out, the reason I didn't make this post earlier (aside from timezone shenanigans) was because I wanted to leave some time for everything to settle in before giving any thoughts.
Now, I want to start by taking a look back at some points from the trial and comparing them with my original theory.
How Star's Portals work!
While I correctly guessed that Star used her portals to move to the kitchen undetected, I backfired on how they work.
My original theoiry was that the Portals allowed the user to move through the floors as normal, but coudn't teleport the user anywhere else.
The actuall way they work is that they allow the user to temporally, create holes in most walls (depending on the thickness.)
I actually remember seeing someone theorize that the portails might work that way, so while I got it wrong, props for those out there that correctly guessed it.
Cartman is the second witness!
While I did mention my suspictions of Cartman saying the truth uncontolably being a side effect of the sauce on previous responses to ASKs. I completley ignored it on my OG theory, and as such, I think a mention is necesary.
That said, I still maintain that he used the Monosauce to alter the scene of the crime.
While this might not seem posible at first due to him deniying seeing any of them or Star in the kitchen, with him still being under the side effects of the Monosauce confirming he isn't lying.
Cartman has shown that unless he is specifically asked about something, he does have some controll over the truth serum by means of saying half-truths.
Meaning that while we know he didn't see any of them, we still don't know what he saw in the kitchen. Him making sure to not mention seeing Cupcake, seems to me like an small hint that he did see something in the kitchen. Why try to hide it if by that point it had been confirmed that Cupcake saw him?
I think the important part in Cartman statement here is that he didn't see ANY OF THEM. He coul've perfectly seen Star's body, unrecognizable by either the darkness of the room, the killer covering Star with the Sweater and Sky mask, triying to hide her in the cabinet etc... But since he didn't know it was specifically her, he was able to loophole his way out of being forced to say what he saw.
And talking about Star...
THE MYSTERIOUS MONOKALLER!
This was the last point that was brought up in the trial as a means of creating suspense for part 2 as now our main suspects are Jenny & Mabel, the only ones without their Monokallers.
In my originall theory I theorized that the Monokaller originally belonged to Jenny, before it fell off during the scene in the Gym. And the fact that she dosen't have hers seems to indicate I was correct in my guessing.
Mabel also not having her, I think is just a red hearing sice, most people where expecting her to be the culprit due to her close conection with the main character.
Ultimatley both of them being presented as irrefutable culprits I think is just suposed to be something to draw our attention away from the real culprit and into the two characters most voted as guilty, so we can have a twist later on about who the real killer is.
And speaking of later, I'll like to point out some things that got mentioned but didn't get a full answer.
STAR WAS TIED UP!
I'm guessing this will be covered in the second half as while the posibility was mentioned, the conversation was quickly derailed to Catman being a suspect due to him being in the kitchen last night.
THE BLACK SWEATER & THE SKY MASK!
This was one of the most discused about points, before Gaz redirected everyone's atention towards the Monokallers. As such I think is pretty safe to say we will be coming back to this in part 2.
But for now the thing we landed on, was the fact that the killer went around the entire floor just to drop the sky mask in it's place.
My theory for this, is that the killer returned the sky mask in case someone noticed that one was missing and decided to investigate in peoples rooms in search of it, returning it now, intead of during the investigation where there's more chances to be caught. And also using that as an oportunity to leave Jenny's monocaller on Mabel's lab as a means of incriminating her. The knife as I mentioned on my OG theory, I think it was Carman meddling with the Crime scene.
Also, we know there's a secret passageway that conects that floor with Dipper's bedroom, who at thay point was empthy. The painting that acts as an exit can't normally be opened from the outside, but that woudn't be a problem with Star's scissors, so if the killer discovered that that was there he could've have used it to move between floors.
And... I think that's everithing I wanted to talk about!
My opinions on the case haven't changed that much to be honest, after seeing everyones interactions during the trial I still think Morty did it, with a very slight suspiction towards Bubbles.
Although at this point, I don't care if I was right and Morty is the Killer, I just need Mabel to be inocent.
I've been triying not to get personal feelings for the characters get in my way of analizing the case, but I'm sorry, Mabel killing an innocent person just to save Waddles, specially at the very begining of the Killing game when the characters are suposed to be closer to their OG counterparts is just no.
I'm sorry but that sound more like the version of Mabel that the internet made up, and led to the "You are extremly selfish, die" meme. And i'm really hoping that's not the route CiDr takes with her character.
As allways, feel free to leave any coments or send any asks about what you thought of the trial or my own theories.

Thanks for the tag!, @theonceandfuturequeenoftarts @alenablack
"Self-rec time! What are your favorite five fics that you've written and why? After replying to this ask, feel free to pass on to five other writers to spread the love. 💗"
Darlings and Dragons:
This is my main fic and the one I put the most thought and effort into. I take so long with it because I really really want it to be perfect. Its the first thing that i've ever had that made me feel like a real fanfic author. It is completely self serving and nerdy and filled with a bunch of drama and shenanigans and of course Romance and Dragons.
I've had a long personal character growth in OCs. Like i used to personally refuse to write them because I just didn't get them. Now Dorryn can be pried from my room temperature corpse. I love him. I love to hate him. and It's been so fun having the freedom to just create and write him however I want to.
There will be so much more adventure and fun times and romance and I can't wait to write it and hopefully you will like it too.
Sunrise and Reality:
I love Voldemort and Harry in a father/ son scenario just as much as i love other thinks 😉 This originally started as just a fun little wandavisino scenario that didn't really feel like it was going anywhere. It was one of those things where it was like... yeah i love it but also i have OTHER things to write and if no one else cares then i really dont wanna put in any effort into it so i kind of stopped the first one.
Well, it turned out that people DID care so i fixed up the first version and now i have a whole as story that has regular updates. I love it so much and I know its not everyone's cup of tea but its been one of the best things i've ever written and i've been just having the best time with it. 😭
This was my submission piece that went with @daddymortfest for 2024
His Brave Boy:
it was my first attempt at a daddmort fic. I wasn't too sure how to do it except i knew it had to have some heartbreak and horcrux vibes. This was my piece for the @daddymortfest 2023
Tides of Temptation :
This is going to be my fest piece for the @fanged-fate-fest for 2024. I can't talk about it too much, but just know that it has mermaids and body horror. Its been a challenge to work on because i've been having to come up with some new rules to magic and an entirely new world
He lives at the End
This was my first attempt at Horror and it was a complete and utter flop 😂 It holds a special place in my heart though because it was my first try and i feel like i've gotten a lot better since i did this.

I feel like it would be funny if the Legends were exposed to so much temporal radiation from the shenanigans that none of them aged, but no one realizes why:
Sara thinks it's because of the whole alien hybrid thing
Jax thinks it's because of the Firestorm thing
Ray thinks it's because of the Atom suit
Mick straight up does not care
Kendra thinks it's a Hawk thing
Nate thinks it's from the Steel Serum
Amaya has her spirit totem cancel it out, so that feeds into the illusion
Zari 1.0 assumes Totem shenanigans or because of her removal from the timeline
Wally thinks it's the speedforce
Charlie is already immortal, she has double eternal youth now
Nora thinks's it's Fairy Godmother Magic
Constantine thinks it's because of one of his many demon deals
Ava thinks it's a clone thing
Mona thinks it's from Wolfie
Gary has no idea how humans age
Behrad thinks it's the Totem
Zari 2.0 thinks it's because of her beauty products
Astra think's it's because she grew up in Hell
Spooner thinks it's because of the aliens
Gwyn hasn't been around long enough to notice
Gideon knows and is waiting for someone to figure it out
