Bake Cookies Day
Make a batch of your favorite biscuits, experiment with imaginative cookie cutter shapes or organize a bake sale for charity.
Bake Cookies Day occurs in the middle of the holiday season, and is a great excuse to bake some delicious cookies to help you get through the cold, winter days! Why not try some cinnamon flavored cookies (such as the snickerdoodle) to get your kitchen smelling of winter festivities? Or there’s always the classic ‘sugar cookie’ with brightly colored royal icing, silver candy balls and sprinkles, cut into a myriad of seasonal shapes. Bake Cookies Day is your excuse to indulge in the art (and eating) of cookies of every stripe and measure, especially those that remind you of the season.
History of Bake Cookies Day
Cookies arrived in America in the 17th century, although the word arrived much later with the Dutch in its original form of “koekje”, meaning “little cake”. This was soon shortened to “cooky” or “cookie”, although cookies themselves seem to date back as far as 7th century Persia! Since then they’ve become a global phenomena that come in more varieties, flavors, and styles than you can possibly imagine.
From fruit filled cookies to the simple but delectable sugar cookie (Yep, got a sugar cookie fixation, tis the season!), these “little cakes” are simply the most amazing thing to come out of an oven since bread· Every year people get together to celebrate Bake Cookies Day by baking dozens of cookies for charity drives, orphanages, and generally bringing joy to family and friends everywhere.
How to celebrate Bake Cookies Day
The most obvious way of celebrating is to bake up a batch or seven of your favorite cookies· Whether it’s one dozen or 12 Bake Cookies Day is the day to get everything together and fill your house with the joy of the holidays·
Now, if you’re looking to do more, than you can organize a charity bake-off where people pay a small fee to come in and sample all the cookies and vote on them, and the prize goes to a charity of the winners choice· Nobody hates cookies, so at the end of the day you’re sure to have a successful event· For those who don’t know how to bake cookies, allow me to introduce you to my favorite… Sugar cookies!
Cookie Invention
Cookies come in all different shapes and sizes – and flavours. Think of a gingerbread man, or woman, that’s a cookie! So is a macaroon, that light, layered, yummy, coconut-y biscuit.
When it comes to making cookies the imagination is the limit. Some of the best well known have been invented by creative bakers with an interest in breaking the mold. The chocolate chip cookie, for instance, was invented by Ruth Graves Wakefield and Sue Brides in 1938, whilst they owned a popular inn in Massachusetts. Their inn featured home baking and they wanted to try something new. Aren’t we all glad they did.
Experimenting with the cookie cutter, and with your ingredients is a fun way to generate interest in your cookies and get people sharing. But how easy is it to do? After all classic hits like the chocolate chip cookie don’t emerge from the oven every day. Truthfully, inventing cookies is an arduous business, at least it was for Ruth and Sue, who didn’t have the benefit of so many tried and tested formulas. They had to rely on trial and error.
Luckily you don’t have to waste tons of ingredients experimenting with yours. Simply choose a cookie recipe from an easy to use cookbook and follow it. The trick here is to tweak the recipe to your liking, or wherever your adventurous mind wants to go; as long as you get the basics of your recipe right, your experimental cookie will turn out A-ok!
The Gift Of Cookies
Cookies are made to be shared. No-one wants to eat a whole batch of cookies on their own like a blue furry monster with a big appetite. It’s so good when a friend or stranger takes a bite of a cookie we’ve made, and loves it! Even better if said cookie was invented by our own ideas.
Bake Cookies Day is the perfect excuse to have a gathering. Invite your friends and family round to help you bake up a few batches of a traditional recipe, or an invented one. Stay out of the cold and warm yourself up with hot chocolate and pumpkin spice lattes.
These winter favorites are ideal companions to a batch of cookies fresh from the oven.
Share the love. It might seem a bit strange at first, but your neighbours will remember the warm-hearted gesture if you deliver a box of homemade cookies to them on Bake Cookies Day. If you can’t share cookies today, then when can you?
Since you pour your heart and soul into the making of delicious, inventive cookies, why not make your efforts go further. It’s the season of gifting after all. Instead of battling crowds in the shopping mall and stressing over what to buy friends and family for Christmas, choose a decorative box and fill it with spicy, seasonal delights. Instead of just cookie day, it rolls out and becomes cookie season.
Inspiration
Remember Bake Cookies Day doesn’t have to be only one day of the year. Use it as a springboard to inspire your baking imagination at other times of the year as well; after all, different seasons require different cookies.

Prompt 314
Danny has discovered something absolutely amazing. While he can’t cook for shit, he can? Actually bake? Really well? Must be those bonding sessions in Long Now with Clockwork making all those cookies and cakes and everything else.
But? This means he can A, actually make himself food, and B, has somehow befriended several more ghosts, including his rogues. Apparently he gave off bedraggled cat vibes when covered in flour. Or they just enjoyed the cupcakes he’d made to look like them in a sleep deprived ferver.
But hey, he even has a decent job while he’s in (online due to medical issues, officially) college at one of the local bakery-cafes. Which means he also gets free coffee, so that’s nice too. Just erm, he might’ve gotten in the habit of handing cookies or other baked goods to anyone trying to attack him.
Look, it’s how he befriended his rogues (Apparently Fright Knight, being the ghost of Autumn, enjoys pumpkin spice cookies, who knew?) and they even continue to visit too.
So really, it’s not his fault that there’s several goonion (honestly Sam will be pleased to learn they’ve got a union) members who are now constantly coming to the bakery. And- okay is that another undead person? Have a cupcake.
#DCxDP#DPxDC#Prompts#Danny giving Solomon Grundy a cupcake: Have a good day :)#Grundy: This small death is now Friend#Danny befriends a few talons via ecto-cookies#Jason who hasn’t even revealed himself to the bats yet visits the cafe from his goons insisting#Yes Danny makes lil cupcakes & cookies of vigilantes & rogues & whatever he sees that day#And he always has a batch of his ex-rogue’s favorites ready#He’s enjoying this not-vigilante and doin school thing it’s peaceful#He’s had enough engineering & is in business & health majors#Along with a bit of medical in the ghost zone#he’s too tired to worry about the criminals forming a mini cult around him#Danny is accidentally acting like an ecto filter via baking stuff

#i feel you op i also started initially to read the stories but got busy grinding for events instead 😭 #i also haven't read any of the events not even madguy bc i feel like im gonna miss a lot of context i feel sorry for my boys #although I've recently caught up to ch7 and it made me a stornger more brainrotted madguy fan than before #ppl said it's gonna get more insane later on and im nervous #but so far. the stories are GOOD i highly recommend reading it if you're able to #it's just kamen rider but with extra steps #also to assuage your fear (i hope?) i heard from the grapevines that the change to leon is minimal you can easily miss it (via @chipsncookies)
YES I feel a lot better knowing other people are in the same boat as me! :') as someone who only plays games very casually, the events are fun (and have been a good excuse to get those support stories on characters I was kinda ignoring) but SO distracting -- and they have a connected overarching narrative of their own (make sure you read them in order when you get to them!) so I don't want to skip any. which I guess is to say that my problem is that I'm enjoying the writing too much! how dare they.
overall it definitely has that Kamen Rider tone and feeling I was hoping for and I am VERY pleased with it! I do kinda miss the kitbashy monsters, though otherwise it's basically just Rider But With More Random Scenes of Characters Being Ridiculous At Each Other and that is exactly what I was after. (also exquisite taste, Mad Guys are best guys 🤝)
and as long as I still haven't gotten to episode 13 and can therefore continue to be hilariously naive, let me just say that I know what I'm dreaming of for Leon. he deserves it.
...although I do think it would be VERY funny if they made that whole big "WE WILL BE UPDATING LEON'S SPRITES TO REFLECT STORY CHANGES!!!!" announcement and then it turns out that they just like. hue-shifted his eye color slightly to the right or something. it's not even a big story beat, Leon just decided to try out some color contacts, maybe comb his hair back a little, and we don't have the heart to tell him to stop. :(
#art#ride kamens#mad guys truly embody my favorite type of character#which is the friendly neighborhood doofus and his pack of adopted doofuses#look this might as well be 'agata and his horrible children: the game' to me#jk jk the other characters are pretty great too#justice ride is a mom a dad a shounen protagonist and also mikami is there too#n a z e#slam days is a sitcom about three (four? three and a half?) roommates who keep getting thrust into wacky situations#and i admit i was a little eh on wisdom initially but they've been growing on me#part of this is due to jou's big introductory scene#wherein he barges into the private room going WHOOPS I WAS LOOKING FOR THE BATHROOM -- HEY ARE THOSE COOKIES#and then proceeds to drop a bunch of exposition inbetween stuffing his face with the cookies leon baked special for us#meanwhile every time i get a tower story it's uryuu being super sweet while takato like. mentally villain-cackles over him.#honey you need to pack your hamster and RUN
