Since y'all really liked my other animorph art, here's one from the Hork Bajir chronicles.

The more I read these books the more I hate the Andalites, which I think is suppose to be the natural progression of the reader.

First off, Seerow's kindness is just tragic all around. If I was super advance and saw intelligent life stuck living in mud puddles or monkies I'd want to help them as well. But at the same time I understand the Yeerks. If my choices were mud puddle/monkey or I could take a host and experience the joys of sight and sound.... i think I'd take a host. It's all around such a tragic situation and it's such an amazing story to hear play out.

And man, the Hork Bajir. Poor Dak, you learn your entire species was specifically made to be less intelligent and now every other species looks down on you for that. I feel bad for Aldrea too of course. Seeing your entire family killed then forcing a war on peacful species because it's that or enslavment.... just... man.

I love these chronicle breaks but it's really not much of a break when it's so much freakin sadder. But I do love Aldrea and Dak, they wefe adorable. Very Tarzan and Jane but with way more war and way more tragedy.

My beloved just got home from work. I chirped, “My baby’s home!”

“My sweet little Hork-Bajir!” They exclaimed.

I fucking died. You may or may not have ever read Animorphs- my beloved sure hasn’t- but there’s an alien species called Hork-Bajir in it. My beloved only knows this alien name because I binged the entire series five years ago and couldn’t shut up about all the crazy shit that happens in those books.

So for them to lovingly address me as an alien from a book they’ve never read and I haven’t talked about in years just fucking took me out at the knees.

Another piece of old, Animorphs fanart. The Hork-Bajir Chronicles still stands as one of my favorite pieces of Sci-fi literature.

what horrible new halloween costumes do you think will become popular after the war?

Andalite tourist (lazy version): Don a headband with blue stalk eyes, and carry around a Krispy Kreme box.

Andalite tourist (hardcore version): Paint your entire body blue, have an inflatable second set of legs and tail attached to your butt, and attach the tail blade to a wristband so that you can swing it around by waving your arm.

Animorph (lazy version): Put on bike shorts, take off shoes.

Animorph (hardcore version): Exactly match Rachel's preferred cut and color of leotard. Wear brown fur boots and gloves, then use body paint on your arms and legs to make it look like they're transitioning into a morph.

Yeerk (lazy version): Borrow your friend's The Sharing shirt.

Yeerk (hardcore version): Shave your head, and paint your scalp with the illusion of a window looking in on your brain with a slug wrapped around it. Then borrow your friend's The Sharing shirt.

Hork-bajir (lazy version): Get a t-rex costume, add a headband with blades on it.

Hork-bajir (hardcore version): This one involves stilt-walking, while wearing knives, and has been banned in six countries by November 1 of the first year after the war.

{PSNL} Reference: Gali Homal

A reference for Gali Homal!  I've loved Animorphs since I was a kid, despite its darker theme. The Hork-Bajir were my favorite species from that series. For a little while I've been wanting to make a Hork-Bajir character. So here's Gali! She is a survivor of the Yeerk War, living in Wyoming on Earth at the Hork-Bajir settlement. After the brief culture shock, she learned about many physical mediums of art that were barely if ever performed among the Hork-Bajir. Being a species of oral and visual arts, singing, stories, dancing, and whatnot, seeing sculptures, paintings, and so many beautiful things she had never even conceived of before led her to take a trip to Hawai'i. In Hawai'i, she sought out the native culture, asking to learn their dancing, and became enamored with Earth flowers after being given a lei. As an aside, my first headshot of Gali got a like from KA Applegate so I kinda have it in my head that Gali's canon now~ Art and Gali (c) to myself Hork-Bajir species (c) to KA Applegate Wanna see these images early? Cannot stop thinking about Aldrea-Iskillion-Falan and Dak Hamee. He was born as an omen of his people’s destruction. He loves to draw. She was studying him from day one. They played in the trees together. She introduced him to the stars and she taught him how to kill. She watched her family be burned alive. He resents her and he loves her. She loves him and she uses him. They are more alone among their own people than with each other. She holds a deep belief in Andalite superiority even though she knows it hurts him. She betrays her own people. She becomes a nothlit so if the biological weapon those people made goes off, she’ll die with him. He didn’t believe she’d do it. They named their child after the man who unleashed the Yeerks’ invasion of the galaxy. They probably died in captivity. Their child probably died in captivity. Their great grandchild is the first free-born Hork-Bajir in many years. She is named after the child of another mismatched pair of aliens thanks to the power of morphing—he is the reason she is free at all.
