I just wanna say i finally finshed your trust life fic after, admittedly, a long time (I struggle with long fics and typically hate reading them) it was really great I actually had a lot of fun reading it! Im really glad your fic could be the first lobg fic ive read in a really long time and encouraging me to step outta my confort zone for that kinda stuff :} anyways I did actually have a question belive it or not, I was wondering if you had any tips on writting in character for them (them being the traffic games characters) and for writting longer fics?

I’m not surprised it took you a while. When I went back to read it all myself, it took me literal weeks to finish, lol. But thank you for giving this one a try anyway. It’s great to know that you still enjoyed it even though it was out of the norm for you

For your question, I think a small, but effective way to achieve that would be to make sure a character’s dialogue includes phrases or words that they usually use often. Same goes for their tone too. So like, I know that people like Joel and Bdubs are usually loud talkers whereas Etho and Lizzie are more on the quiet end. So maybe just try to reflect that and keep things consistent unless the situation calls for something else? I’ll also just try to read things over in that character’s voice and if it feels wrong coming out of their mouth, then I change it according to what feels more accurate

Aside from dialogue tho, you could also try seeing how others seem to write them most often and work off of that? Sorry for the vagueness. I’m not sure I’m the best person to give advice on that subject 😅

Longer fics however… If you’re asking how to stretch a fic out, I think one way to kind of cheat at that would be to have the story take place from more than one perspective. That way there’s twice or more the amount of potential thoughts, problems, backstory, and development to cover (learned this the hard way)

—But if you’re asking how to write a GOOD long fic… I mean, I’d say it’s very important to have the gist of what you expect to happen be already established front and center in an outline. That way you’re not unprepared for anything and have already gotten one of the most difficult parts of writing it done (imo). That’s not to say that straying from your outline is a bad thing. If anything, depending on your story, it could kind of function as a safety net for that sort of thing. So no matter how much you decide to change, you at least know what direction you’re meant to be going in (I really hope I’m making sense here…)

ALSO—keep around a journal, or a notepad, or a log on your phone, or whatever so you can jot down any random ideas that you think would be cool to put in your story that might come to you whenever. Don’t trust yourself to remember to add them in once you start writing, because you won’t/lhj

If your fic has a lot of characters in it, then also make sure to write down and keep track of their relationship or current standing with other characters. For example, it wouldn’t make sense for two people who had beef three chapters ago to suddenly be cool or indifferent around each other the next time they meet up without there having been some kind of resolution (internal or otherwise) in the middle of all that. If someone gets into an argument with another person and then doesn’t see them again for a few chapters, their immediate thought upon seeing them for the first time again, in my opinion, shouldn’t be a cheery or neutral one. Maybe they cooled down a little between those chapters, but I don’t think the problem should have just fixed itself with time alone. That goes for a lot of other situations too

So, yeah, that’s pretty much what came to mind for me. I don’t consider myself an expert on any of this so please feel free to take it with a grain of salt. Regardless, I do hope you’re able to write out what you had in mind :)

Tiny details and shit that others wouldn't have noticed. Hes still an idiot tho godbless GKEHSJ. Hes the number one mad gear fanboy. Hes good w explosives but crap with other tech.

Kobra. Ohohohohohohohoooo kobra. Ppl like to hc him as v stoic [which im not implying is a bad hc at all btw!!! Just an observation] but i like to thing hes EXTREMELY emotional and p unpredictable. and because im mentally ill im elaborating below the cut because at least i’m cognizant of how few people share this illness with me ❤️

first of all. some categories were edited (+added). we shall address them all in due time 🫶 but just for posterity before we begin: top of the category is the one that best exemplifies the category title and it moves in descending order; so as gonta is my #1 my GOAT, pedo udg guy is the one i want to kill himself most. understandable? ok 🫶

2019 top 5-tier is slightly unfortunately named but other than that changes in 2024 are somewhat minimal. as is perhaps obvious if you have seen even one (1) danganronpa post from me: gonta is My character hes mine spike chunsoft dont get him like i do. AND i love sdr2. nagito is my very very close second i am so incredibly mentally ill about him Oh if you all could see the hundreds of thousands of words ive written about that fucking guy. also true of hajime. still true of sonia (<3 i love u girlie) and fuyuhiko but to a lesser extent (i have written so much sdr2. its a problem. we persist). they are characters we see a lot of and in that same vein give SO much to build upon in further character exploration. and boy do i do that. holds the five of them In my arms i love you babygirls

S tier excellents again prove i am an sdr2 enjoyer. i think it also showcases how much i REALLY love the v3 characters while absolutely hating the plot they were stuck in. kaede and shuuichi are SOOOO special 2 me u dont understand…….im going to have so many thoughts and be So mad when i replay v3. kokichi is VERY interesting and my thoughts on him are endless (hi evan) and there is soooo much there even if i also have to fundamentally hate him somewhat because of 3-4. also a wide array of sdr2 characters are here of course……on my most recent replay i have come to really appreciate imposter (better sexier byakuya ❤️) and ibuki . and i was kind of surprised how high some of the dr1 characters are (besides chihiro who has consistently been my dr1 #1) but sorry dr3 made me love the makoto/kyouko/aoi trio sooooo bad.

lots of variety in the A tier which are all characters i enjoy, they just arent my Favorite barbie dolls to mash around u know. so many very unique personalities like mahiru, angie, tenko, and ryoma that weren’t explored as well as possible in canon, so its harder for me to personally invest in them. junko is iconic and she gets worse as the games go on but god. dr1 was craaaaaazy so she and mukuro have to be given props for that. im ignoring e-girl junko and v3 entirely <3 also again in watching dr3 while replaying sdr2 i really came to appreciate natsumi and her dynamic with hajime :[ rip girl i miss u. also also i liked koichi way more than expected LOL it must just be cuz hes hot but his death was sick as fuck and i liked his thruline with jin (the weird flirting with kyouko aside……)

B tier! bit of a mixed bag, from characters i like very begrudgingly (byakuya, sorry, i latched onto him as my rich terrible boyfriend when first playing years ago and the fondness kinda stuck 💔) to ones i do genuinely like, but they were not given much to do in canon (ryota) or their arcs fell flat (kirumi). also here are dr3 + udg characters i didnt mind or were just somewhat nice to makoto (also chisa, who is very interesting but i very much disliked how her character ended off) so shout out them (they are all dead) (or orphaned like monaca and kotoko).

C tier is basically my ‘i barely remember’ tier sry……i did not finish udg so i have so very few opinions on most of the characters. chihiro aoi and yasuhiro’s parents are chill tho shout out. not much to say tho

and now we enter the hater zone with D tier……look. some of these are hot takes and some arent. as much as i love sdr2 i just cannot ever make myself like hiyoko and teruteru. theyre kinda fucked from the getgo theyre never treated as especially serious characters but their glaring flaws are so bad i cant bring myself to care when the rest of the cast is SO GOOD. i also do not like kazuichi LMFAO as a sonia ride or die just as i cannot look past teruteru’s sexual harassment NEITHER CAN I LOOK PAST KAZUICHI’S ‼️‼️ yes i think he can be fixed but sonia needs a restraining order + when she was hoping he was the ch4 killer i was cheering. everyone else this category are just mid ass dr1 characters and the dr3 characters i found actively annoying. also monokuma. hes cringe but iconic and doesnt fit anywhere else

not much to be said about F tier. i did not finish udg but i know enough that i need haiji towa to die. i need the asshole who beat up hajime to die. i need the asshole who tried to kill makoto to die. i need that stupid old fuck heading the future foundation to die. the monokubs are fucking annoying. the only like Real characters here are 1) miu because she is written terribly and her cool talent is wasted, treats gonta like shit, isnt funny, is just nasty perv bait and her most meaningful contribution is to be fodder for the 2nd worse written case in the game. and as for NUMBER ONE WORST: tsumugi mostly just symbolizes my hatred for v3’s ending because outside of her role in 3-6 she has very little impact on the story before her reveal. also got my girlies kaede and rantarou killed God i hate the end of thisgame

and finally: oh my poor sweet bastards. why would they do this to you. these characters are either underutilized in a way that is DEVASTATING (izuru 💔) treated like shit as joke characters their potential is totally squandered by dogshit writing (everyone else — sdr2 you could have been so much better WHY!!!!!!). mikan and korekiyo’s motives are dogshit and make the ch3 double murder so much weaker. nekomaru and akane are played as jokes essentially their entire screentime and akane is especially egregious because shes a survivor among characters like FUYUHIKO!!! like SONIA!!! like HAJIME!!!!!!!!! AND YOU SQUANDER HER LIKE THIS!!!!!!!!!!! kaito suffers from really flip-floppy writing and he sucks a lot of the time Especially pre-localization but ive adopted him a little bit in writing him and i love my construction of him in my brain.

okay he said former *smper and minecrafter here we go. this is me nitpicking some things that bothered me with this theory 🤸‍♂️ i'll be sharing my thoughts, opinions and theories as to elaborate on why i dont agree with how matpat's theory explains why gl!ranboo might be the founder.

he mentions gl!ranboo still trusting hetch and there's no reason for him to ignore what code the audience chooses. however gl!ranboo had mentioned that he thought the audience wanted him to die as they saw everything that had been going on.

(we are now entering theory zone as nothing is concrete) he mentions gl!ranboo ignoring the exit sigh and going for the room to "do whatever he had to do to keep the show running" or whatever. here's what i think tho: i dont think ANYONE had full control on what they were doing throughout generation 1. that includes hetch, ran and charlie on the last episode. gl!ranboo is wearing a mask which by now is clear that it has some kind of control on him, that could include his movements and thoughts. hetch, just like ranboo, is wearing a mask, if cc!ranboo told us that he was also under mind control i would 100% believe him. charlie, after getting brutally mauled, somehow has the energy to call for ranboo and point to the button, which - again -he saw while getting MAULED TO DEATH.

once again matpat mentions gl!ranboo leading ethan to the wrong door, but i thought it was very clear that sneeg and ran were under full control of showfall media as austin was the only one who panicked during ethan's death. there is even a scene where a showfall employee adjusts his mask as he enters the diamond room and from this point forward he sounds very different until hetch 'hacks' the mask.

he mentions how the puzzler apologizes to gl!ranboo and how he is probably terrified of him. personally i just found that line funny, the idea of the puzzler almost killing a contestant before he could get on with the show and then going My Bad Lol is silly. aside from that, i dont think the puzzler is evil, but another victim of showfall media. this was all a big show after all, and they needed someone to lead gl!ranboo. his death was planned on the whiteboard for the second day. if he was evil and 'not cared for human life' why would he apologize for killing niki? why would he be horrified by the idea of gl!ranboo cutting a man up to find a key? that doesn't sound apathetic to me.

he mentions the cutaways from the first episode with ranboo (and CHARLIE he never mentions charlie i'll get to that in a second) and says "we see ranboo go from episode to episode without a break" as to say he couldnt have recorded that before the show but only after, but i dont think so ! first of all if it's all scripted (or at least they have the three days planned) of course they can record bits prior to show, as well as make them say whatever they want if they are under mind control. also how would he record it later if it's being shown LIVE?

he barely mentions charlie even tho he had a significant presence for ALL of the episodes. it feels like he went with the I'm Gonna Claim The Protagonist Is Actually The Bad Guy Route and only took the bits from the show that would support his theory. i know that game theory isn't always accurate and it's mostly a way to teach kids fun science/sociology facts through something interesting, but i'm still annoyed.

i understand where the idea of gl!ranboo being the founder comes from, but unless ranboo elaborates on it, i don't think that makes it tragic...? and ranboo himself has mentioned they ended up writing a very sad character.

anyways. this was more of a rant than anything don't take it to seriously 🤙 i just really like genloss and even though im terrible with words i wanted to share my thoughts. i think we might get more answers in the founder's cut but idk

To be honest? Magnus. 🙈 ik this is a bit of an unpopular opinion cause a few other writers I know say they find it hard to write Magnus’s POV buuut it’s easier for me. Idk why tho like it might be because my chaotic adhd brain helps me understand Magnus’s chaotic brain, or maybe because I’ve read tbc too many times but ummm yeah.

Like yeah, there’s going to be a lot of editing cause my handwriting is a lil bad buut atleast I’ll get shit done so this might be easier. what exactly is the definition of “feel right”? 

to make someone feel relaxed and comfortable, as merriam-webster states

what makes something/someone go under that category? 

now from there it expands because there are so many ways of answering that with everyone having different opinions and mindsets.

fair warning before we push on, this is going to get messy (like a word vomit) with how i’m just going to pour out everything i can think off, but just know i really like this question hence the, uh, mess? lmao

so back to your question, what is it in jackunzel that makes it feel so right?

in one POV, it could be because of how rapunzel and jack represent the sun and the moon respectively, making them two contrasting sides who shouldn’t collide and yet, against all odds and opposing forces that would come between them, they did. 

and we can bet on the fact that they fought hard/struggled for it, depending on how fanfic writers play with it (reminds of this sun/moon au that sold me to this trope lmao).

just because others said it’s impossible or it’s against whatever, why should they listen to the “norm?” what even is considered “normal,” when the two can explore so much more of what they could be missing from life after stepping out of others’ shadows?

i just love sun/moon dynamics. i’m obsessed lmao i read the ones below somewhere and idk where but it’s been living in my head rent free and i can’t escape it tho feel free to correct me about any of these symbol topic!

like the Sun, thoughtful and full of energy to share with everyone, is connected with one’s self and known to, yeah, radiate warmth or light. it also symbolizes firmness, strength and power. oh and life too i guess?

while the Moon, subtle but full of mysteries and wonders, can also get emotional and sway others to be more nurturing. cus like it also symbolizes calmness, beauty, and nurture. plus eternity and enlightenment?

the list goes on if we head into more of what it both symbolize, but when these two celestial bodies get together, masculine and feminine energies unite. the Sun gives out life, while the Moon cultivates it.

maybe it’s that taste of rebellion with going against the authorities/society/rules/of what has always been set to find out who they’re meant to be or, y’know, finding their identity without the shackles of others (like jack learning he has the potential to be a guardian and embracing it in his own time, and rapunzel realizing she’s the lost princess and works hard to be a good one), 

or there’s something about the mystery that follows the other because they’ve never met anyone quite like them (like exploring a world they’ve never set foot on), 

or finding all the good and bad in each other and in their differences, but still loving the other for who they are, 

or what one lacks the other makes up for it and vice versa. with or without them realizing they can help each other grow to be a better version of themselves.

but on the contrary, they could also be two peas of a pod. aight this definitely goes against what i said above with all the opposites and stuff, but hear me out.

while they grew up and learned how to cope with life differently, they somehow still share the same sentiments when it comes to, for example, reaching their goals. 

they have their own way to go about it, sure, but my point is they can reach a common ground better together compared when they’re with others.

like rapunzel with the lanterns, and jack with his memories. at first, one hesitated and wavered, while the other disagreed and pulled away. it was only after they saw a chance/realized this was it that they agreed in a heartbeat

they ultimately made the choice of diving in head first regardless of their initial thoughts in the first place. kinda like the moment they realized they can be a step closer to what they’ve been yearning for their whole life 

bam, out of the way, they’re coming through lmao

not only that, but they can also be soft, gentle, understanding despite rapunzel’s spontaneuosness and jack’s mischievousness. we’ve seen them interacting with children and they’re so good at lifting their spirits up to have some fun and that there will always be a tomorrow.

and with their peers too. rapunzel lights up even the darkest of rooms, may it be like fireworks to bring joy or a campfire to warm one’s heart. jack meanwhile keeps things light when everyone else feels tense, easing others to relax and remember there’s always a way out

don’t forget the way they both sacrifice themselves for who they care for. like, they just do that, putting others first before them. that scene of saving eugene and baby tooth aaahhhhdjhdskdjkbkfjdkjf

and when everything comes crashing down and the world feels heavy on their shoulders, they both know they’re not alone with the other there for them.

maybe it’s the mutual understanding they have for each other after opening up, and finding a friend/partner/home through the connection they made together,

or they could be a push and pull that leads them to showing an unexpected side of the other, but in reality they always had it in them and all they needed was someone to show the way,

or how they complement each other, but they’re not two halves of a whole, no, rather they’re already whole themselves and they only reminded each other that they are,

or it’s simply because they don’t feel the need to put up walls or anything of the likes, because they know that no matter what they’ll be accepted for who they are.

in another POV it could be because of how they give such partners in crime vibe. lowkey or highkey, take your pick. nothing would stop them from moving forward to a new tomorrow, or honestly whatever it is they put their minds to.

like i said in one of my posts, “They were a magnet for trouble, with the Sun being a free-spirited and vivacious fellow, and with the Moon’s knack for mischief and being a rebel without cause.” 

while both are adventurous, ready to explore whatever is out there, all the while just wanting to have some fun, they still balance each other out.

with jack usually ready to do what he needs/wants to do (which helps rapunzel to trust her gut and take the risk. that he’ll be there for her whenever she’s ready to step out of her comfort zone and jump away from her tower)

and with rapunzel knowing how to handle sticky situations properly (which reminds jack that not everything has to be done harshly and abruptly. that while freezing someone could be fun, it won’t solve things in the long run)

am i making sense? idek but you’re stuck with me lol but before i forget and i can’t believe i just remembered now. the way they can help fill in on what the other is missing 

rapunzel wants to see the world, what goes out there, with the people, society, and history i feel. and jack can take her to wherever she wants to go. hell, he’ll even surprise her and bring her to places he’d think she’ll like.

with his experiences, he’s bound to have an endless list of plans for them to go through and it’s no surprise that she’ll love it, and (him) his gesture, nonetheless

jack wants to be noticed by others, to be seen and heard for who he is. and rapunzel is such a welcoming person that she accepts him wholeheartedly. give him the love he was deprived of for years. 

reassure him that even he has a place to call home because why would he be excluded from that? he deserves it just as much as she and everyone else does

also i like to think they brainstorm ideas together

maybe it’s how they’re both game for an adventure, sudden or not, and this makes it easy for them to team up together and take on the world

or the feeling of familiarity as they click and everything flows naturally to them, where nothing is forced or uncomfortable between them

or how it’s like they can hold on to each other, knowing the other won’t let go no matter what because they’ll always have each other through the ups and downs

or it’s in their shared smiles, mischievous sparks in their eyes, moving together to the music of their synchronized heartbeats, as they step forward to the vast unknown

finding the ‘one’ who understands them inside out that they feel at home with them

it’s simple: who knows? now before you toss me aside, and i hope not lmao, lemme just say even with that kind of final verdict, you can still find beauty in it.

ring 1: the classics! you can’t beat them. …well you can, but-

tos gave me my first grinding lite experience, tots tormented me for multiple months, tok was the first kinda creative tower i played, also why is tos challenging now. anyway. your first experiences. basically none of these are really good, aside from cols cols is SO GOOD, but they aren’t the bane of my experience & they are straight up nostalgic.

tor hot take: only like 2-4 & 10 obv is bad, the rest of the floors are okay to good. ngl kinda overhated.

toie cold take: TOIE GOOD!!!!!! very cool. just a good tower, not very special. though The Nostalgia…. also f9 was a bad idea for a big part of it ngl

The iconic leador Leonardo (1987)

Bro idk why but I loved this Leo. I have a tiny memory, especially with this version but I clearly remember that I thought he was the funniest and the coolest. I mean, he had swords, what was I supposed to do as a 7-year-old. NOT like him??? Anyway, while Raph was the best at insult comedy, I think Leo had the best puns and punchlines. I really like how nonchalant this Leo is compared to his iterations, going along with really silly ideas and having fun along the way. But because of this, his leadership is a little forced at times, he seems like such a chill and fun dude that when he gets serious, I have to squint and ask ‘are you Leo? Or were you just putting on act a moment ago?’ Or my perception is entirely warped over time. Either way, good turtle boy, could have used some work tho. 5.7/10

Here comes grumpy lad wooo this is all read very monotone btw Fearless Leader (2003)

What. What the fuck happened. I was actually so confused when Leo turned really angry and serious and almost manic. I thought that episode when he popped into Casey’s window and was like ‘Hey bitch lets go beat the shit out of some lowlifes’ I was WOAH THERE BUDDY BACK UP BACK UP BACK TF UP. It was so sudden to me and when it was finally explained, it made some sense??? Like yeah, character development is great an’ all but this ain’t it chief. I can’t imagine what it was like having to wait for these episodes to release one at a time. Bc I watched every episode back to back on Youtube and I was genuinely bamboozled. But when you have an experience like that where guilt is weighing down on you from a situation you couldn’t control, it would’ve been HELLA HELPFUL to have at least a flashback, like a line saying ‘I was so useless!’ at BARE MINIMUM. Like right after Shredder is booted off to Planet Zula, Donnie would notice that Leo didn’t seem all that happy and would ask why and Leo would get upset and yell at Donnie saying that ‘You wouldn’t understand’, ‘You don’t know how I felt, how I feel because of that’, etc. Like you don’t even have to say he felt guilty or helpless, just give us something to grab onto. We’re merely six-year-olds who thought they could climb the YMCA rock wall in easy mode but instead the script riders harnessed us up on the hard one and wouldn’t let us come down until we rang the little bell at the top. I think that is the only problem I had with his Leo. The sudden change of calm and decisive to angry and irrational was so jarring that it felt unnatural without that crucial context. If you want a surprise reveal, at least hint at the reveal (like just about every Disney movie with their ‘twist’ villains) not wait until the very last moment. I think this might be my least favorite Leo and I think the season where he stood out the most and seemed the strongest was Fast Forward (Which was GOOD FIGHT ME), especially in scenes with Dark Leo, his clone. He sees so much of himself in Dark Leo but he also sees something he had once grasped (AKA the poorly written character arc, I CANNOT stress how bad I thought it was). Although, I honestly think he’s a really good character and he’s a pretty neat guy. However, this score is entirely held up by Fast Forward and his connection with Usagi, sword bros to the end of time. 3/10 (2 for FF and 1 for Usagi)

And now a Leo that makes me genuinely feel UWU Leo (2012)

I cannot stress how much I like this guy! Like his design is so appealing, his dedication, his obsession with Space Heroes, like I FUCKING LOVE IT. And everyone knows, that shit with Karai, at first when they didn’t realize they were related, I can let slide but kajsdflksadf what even like why did the writers feel the need to add in more ‘love interest’ implications like yuck yuck yuck. The only two interactions with Leo and Karai that I really like are when Leo defeats her using the healing hands technique and when Leo has a goth/emo/punk/idk I’m new here phase and they team up and EXPLOSIONS. He was introduced to us as being incredibly naive and his idea of leadership is from some old cartoon that’s basically star trek but ethically questionable. After his fights in season 1, to the finale with the technodrome, you can see his growth. He’s able to formulate plans and make life or death decisions. BUT WAIT THERE’S MORE. When Leo got hurt, I felt like the oof sound effect mixed with some tears I normally shed at some Shojo manga bs. While the episodes following were super weird, it was a nice way to help Leo recover, not only physically but spiritually (Although I don’t remember the spirit arc at all except the epic Raph vs Fishface fight, so we’re skipping that). When Master Splinter really died, you could tell there was a huge impact on Leo, but he had to remain stoic and lead the family now. A lot of heartbreaking moments in this series came from Leo and I’m glad they took at least some thought into developing him. Tiny head Leo will haunt my nightmares, but the giggly fanboy will warm my heart constantly. 6/10

I only have one word for this Leo (Heroes in a Half Shell: Blast to the Past)

This is a super crazy bad idea accent on the super crazy bad part have I mentioned it’s also a really terrible idea/10

Okay, spoiler alert, didn’t really think this Leo was that grand Leo (2014/2016)

Painfully average. He didn’t stand out that much, Raph was part of the focus and had that touching scene at the end, Donnie was ICONIC and Mikey (with his weird-ass eyes) was super lively and funny! Leo? Uh, I don’t remember a single line he said. Because he never really grabbed my attention, I don’t have too much to say on this version. The Raph and Leo fight felt forced and the whole ‘keep this stuff that could turn us human a secret’ was pretty pointless and was added just to cause drama, I don’t even remember what that Splinter and Leo conversation was about. Design-wise, really neat! You can see some more traditional Japanese clothing/style mixed with modern (I’d feel a lot better about this assumption if some could tell exactly what the heck he’s wearing, but I get traditional Japan warrior vibes from it) in his look which was super neat! Other than that, if you like him, please tell me why because I don’t get. He was just kinda eh. 5/10

AHHH MY BOY YASSS WHOOO!! Neon Leon (2018)

Okay, I loved Ben Schwarts already from Parks and Rec but like him being Sonic AND Leo, like DUDE. He’s super funny by himself but teamed up with this shows writing and animation, it makes it hilarious. I literally love this Leo so much, maybe because we’re alike but honestly, he’s amazing. I love his design with the red and yellow crescents accenting his skin and livening up his color pallet. He has a very healthy and natural dynamic with his brothers, he’s the first to know what’s wrong and tries his best to make up for his actions. This is really prominent in the most recent episodes, along with the episode portal jacked. In both, Leo is separated from his brothers. Portal Jacked is in a more literal sense, while Air Turtle handles in more of an emotional sense. While both are brief, Leo sees his error and tries his best to make it up to them. I love his dynamic so much and it’s so nice to see something like this compared to the unnecessary drama and tension between the brothers in the previous series. It’s refreshing and this is something a younger audience needs to see; instead of fighting, it’s better to work together and improve yourself along the way. Improvement is a big theme for Leo here. He’s a goofball, makes jokes at every opportunity and isn’t quite skilled at fighting or using his weapon. But he grows over time, he learns to manage his power and he’s working on mastering it. He’s trying to put aside his narcissism more and focuses on his family. I think the approach they took with him rising to leader rather than slapping it on his forehead was the goddamn best decision they could make. He’s making plans, finding loopholes, helping out and getting out of his comfort zone. I cannot stress how well this show has handled Leo, along with the other characters. I can’t wait to see more episodes about his growth and I am awarding him with one of the greatest honors I could give... 10/10

EVERY scene that had Matthew and James being wholesome parabatai in it!!! my favourite chapter in this book was Blue Ruin, the one after Grace takes the bracelet back from James  (aside from the whispering room ofc).

what scene (or scenes) made you cry the most?

ok ngl i didnt spend much of this book crying, but the only scene that actually made me tear up was when james was dying and matthew could feel it and jesse (WHO I FUCKING LOVED MORE THAN I THOUGHT I WOULD) gave him his last breath :(((((

there were not enough Christopher scenes (but to be fair, even if the entire book was just Christopher it still wouldnt be enough for me)

what disappointed you?

cassie honestly had me kinda shipping matthew/cordelia for a solid FIVE SECONDS there when he stepped in to dance with her after james left her standing there, but that was one of the only scenes that made me feel like they had natural chemistry (along with the scene where he drops her off at her house). I felt like the during the rest of their interactions in the book, cordelia was kind of uncomfortable, which made me really sad because even tho she has every right to feel that way, i felt bad for matthew. I kind of want him to fall for someone else completely and for it to be reciprocated. also, i just really want for matthew and cordelia to become good friends because i feel like they could have such great natural chemistry if matthew didnt love her.

ok there’s quite a few things here so bear w me babes:

- James genuinely loving cordelia from the start. I wasn’t expecting him to naturally feel nothing for grace at all, so i was expecting a slow burn jordelia, but finding out that he actually loves her makes me so happy but the end where cordelia thinks he was just pretending breaks my heart :(((

-matthew liking cordelia lol definitely was not expecting another parabatai love triangle but i hope it doesnt last. i do think it adds to the plot and i love it, it just hurts to see matthew so emo :(((

-I was expecting to like cordelia as a character, but i ended up LOVING her so fucking much???? she’s so three dimensional to me, and it’s interesting to see how her personality adapts around different characters as people adapt around different social circles irl

-liking jesse as much as i did

-ok so james’ entire character was a surprise to me. it’s so fascinating to see how the bracelet actually affected his personality.If you recall him in The Midnight Heir from TBC. he’s like an entirely different person. i still loved him in TMH but i went into CHOG thinking that if he was gonna be like that the entire time i’d probably get over him really quickly. i was pleasantly surprised by how much i ended up loving him even more tho

are there characters that you liked before that you don’t like now?

I started CHOG ready to give Grace the benefit of the doubt, and I was surprised by how timid and shy she seemed at the start, but it was interesting to see how it was all an act and how she doesn’t have an actual personality yet. one could argue that she actually does love james, but i doubt it at this point. i dont hate her yet, even tho she IS fucking up james’ life, but she’s on thin fucking ice.

who was your favorite new character?

does new character mean completely new or just never been in a novella new? because for the first, it would be Cordelia (i LOVE her sm!!) and other wise it would be james, matthew and co. also!!! jesse!!

what places in the book would you like to visit?

ok so. we KNOW that jordelia is gonna be endgame. cassandra clare always takes the hardest path to get there, but when has she not delivered? it’s just a matter of waiting. so, yes, i did like the ending in sense of the plot because it was a great twist, but i also feel really bad for all of them even tho ik they’re eventually gonna be together :(((

what did you think of the epilogue?

i wasnt surprised, since we alr know that Tatiana is shady asf, but i just really wanna know how she partnered up with a GREATER demon like lol wtf. again, im really happy in terms of plot with this

i feel so. fucking bad. for cordelia. and james too, even tho he’s under the bracelet’s curse so he doesnt even KNOW he’s being manipulated. but i love how even through the curse, james still loves cordelia in his own way.

Asmodeus is my Favorite of the Brothers, This is Why

This will be longish and there is a TLDR at the bottom. Even if you don’t like Asmodeus I still ask that you, at the very least, not make fun of someone who does love him. We each have our reasons for liking or loving the fictional characters we do and as long as that love isn’t doing harm to others then I ask you to respect that.

So I have read through most of one of his card stories on Devilgram, it called “Proud Brothers” and this is gonna contain some spoilers for that one (although I haven’t finished it, all but the 8 key part)

So this boi is so underappreciated as most of the fandom knows due to the last event and in terms of content in general (I just wanted to show him some heckin love, LET ME KISS HIM). Honestly, he is my favorite character and deserves more hype imo! He is one of the most supportive characters to his brother and MC, he goes behind his brother’s backs to hype them up in front of Solomon, despite them being weird and having their quirks he wants to make sure that Solomon doesn’t think badly of them, they are still vvvv powerful and high ranking demons after all. We should not be sleeping on a character that hypes people up behind their backs. Yes, he is known to gossip at times and makes fun of Mammon (as a part of the Mammon protection squad I dislike this but that’s another discussion entirely) but then again some and only some of that is understandable. (Let me make this clear I don’t agree with how they handle their frustrations but Mammon is known to screw over his brothers and in their shoes, I do understand their annoyance) On top of that, I still believe he is the type of brother who would willingly step up as a wing man for any of his brothers (Or the MC) and put aside his love for himself to help them get the person they are going after. He may not willingly admit to it but that is the type of person I see him as.

Asmo admittedly is not my normal type in terms of personality, he is extremely peppy and upbeat not to mention his cockiness was at first a big no in my books, but despite the lack of a character arc I still found myself able to look past that to love him. He doesn’t bother others with his problems and he knows he can handle them himself (mentioned in a call he makes to you), he preaches about self-love and making sure you are taking care of yourself. Most of this is hidden behind the wall of being full of himself (and his lust) but he would be the first to step up to make sure his brothers are looking their best. He would probably be overbearing to someone like Levi. I believe that he would have the best intentions in mind even if it doesn’t come off that way to his brother. To someone like me who struggles to do the bare minimum of taking care of myself, Asmo would be the perfect partner to get me up in the morning and make sure I take a shower when I should.

So on that note, I am easily depressed and I lose all motivation to do anything I need to do. I don’t eat as much as I should, take showers, get dressed, or really any form of self-care. Some of the texts I get from Asmo while vvvv flirty are about trying this new skin product he got or going to a hot spring with him. (RIP that temp tho I wanted to go TwT) These texts despite being from a fictional character make me really happy and have gotten me motivated to start to take better care of myself. (If I get hate for that so be it, I am just happy I found something other then spite to get me motivated) I am most like Leviathan in terms of personality, I am a shut-in with really low self-esteem. I do love anime and video games but being with Levi would probably be bad for my health. Being with Asmo would be a big leap out of my comfort zone but it’s one I have wanted to make but anxiety has always said no. It’s always been easier for me to go out when I have a friend to help. (I saw a point vvvv similar to this in another post but I can’t remember who it was by, if I remember or find them Imma reblog their post.)

A lot of the things Asmodeus does can be and is (by himself mostly) written off as only for his own good. I honestly think this isn’t the case, like most of the other brothers, his major flaw hides a lot of the good he does. I hate people who are full of themselves but yet I find myself drawn to Asmo. Seeing him go behind his brother’s backs to hype them up was really the thing that made a lot of my thoughts click to a point I could articulate them. He may be full of himself but he seems genuinely happy with life and I think a lot of my feelings of resentment to characters like him were my own bias and self-hate. I have misjudged a lot of people who seemed so happy and peppy for a lot of my childhood, and only recently I can see that they are just as miserable as the rest of us, they usually just don’t want to drag others down with them. That or they have found a way to be happy despite their flaws and the bad in the world. They have the drive to boost themselves and others up and that is honestly admirable.

TLDR: So Asmo is my favorite because he is, despite common belief, pretty selfless and caring, and when he truly loves someone (in any way, not just in a romantic way) he will do what he can to hype them up and set them up for success (in his own way tho)

Just like with Byakuya it was the growth. I didn’t really like UDG and I ended up zoning out watching the playthrough because of it but I did like a lot of how she’d changed and how her character became more than just a joke.

1. What OTPs in your fandom(s) do you just not get?

Hmm... Well, I do get Billdip in itself, as they had some wonderfully snarky chemistry right from the beginning, but what I don’t get is how the fandom usually chooses to go around it. Coffee shop AUs? Prettyboy human Bill? Stuff that has absolutely nothing to do with the actual characters and are pretty much OCs with familiar names? Why did these two get morphed into some weird generic whiteboy couple that gets thrown into every imaginable scenario that somehow always manage to fall outside the context the original show gives them?

Aside from my general confusion over the usual fanwork gimmicks, I’m pretty cool with any and all ships as long as they’re done right and with respect to the characters in question. One thing I’ve noticed, though, is that seeing Ford paired up with a female character (not to mention a friggin’ OC) makes me suuuper uncomfortable. I don’t tend to have a strong opinion or headcanon on the sexuality of a character who doesn’t have a canonically established orientation, but like... Ford is just... so obviously not your run-of-the-mill straight guy that seeing him portrayed as one feels straight up forced and unnatural. So that’s something I’d like to stay away from, personally.

7. Is there anything you used to like but can’t stand now?

Not many of you know that my leap of faith into the world of fanwork started with an exceptionally good post-canon Billdip fic with, like, a damn solid mystery plot and excellent show-accurate interaction between the two. I dropped the fic at the first signs of totally unnecessary romantic elements that just killed the credibility for me, and I think that fic pretty much summarizes my take on that particular ship. It was easier to ignore the sub-par fics I came across when I still hadn’t figured out that those fics were actually the ‘par’ of fanwork surrounding the ship. I won’t say I can’t stand Billdip, but my opinion of it has lowered significantly and I just steer away from it these days.

Also, uh... Grunkle Stan. I mean his canon characterization - I just feel like the latter half of season 2 didn’t do right by him in many ways. This isn’t a ‘can’t stand’ level issue, either, but worth mentioning.

Sadly, one particular fic single-handedly destroyed my desire of seeing the Henchmaniacs in fanwork. Their appearance is not a dealbreaker (hell, several of them have appeared in my own work), but I’m extremely wary these days.

Actually, I’m... much warier with fanfiction and fanwork in general after a few phenomenally bad apples. Haven’t done much browsing in the past year or two, and the only new content I come across these days is through recs or random dash encounters. >>; It sucks, but it’s better than a PTSD bullet hell.

Turns out I actually had a lot to say about this one. I have to be honest - participating in a fandom is a struggle for me, and I constantly have to check and move the boundaries of my comfort zone. It’s been perpetually growing smaller over the years, but every once in a while I take a cautious step towards expanding it again, bit by bit.

19. What is the one thing you hate most about your fandom? 

Ooo, shifting into saltximum overdrive here! For real tho, I love this fandom to death and back, and my pet peeve sprouts from my own fundamental inability to have harmless self-indulgent fun: the lack of devotion. I don’t mean dedication, as modern fans are among the most dedicated people on this earth - what I mean is a common, shared will to create something as a community, not as a bunch of individuals each surrounded by their own respective posse. It’s basically why fandoms are more or less built around content creators, which honestly sucks, because the ideal condition of a fandom, to me, would be first and foremost interactive and dialectic. Look, I’m a communitarian to the bone, and I’ve never been much for the hyperindividualist chase for likemindedness. I’d rather have a community filled with respectful debate and an occasional shared aha experience here and there. But that’s just me, and the fandom itself is as precious as it can get on a platform like Tumblr.

So bethesda being dicks aside, do you like fallout 76? Or has bethesda ruined it?

Oh boy, I have a feeling this answer will drag me into some hellhole I’ll never get out of and I’m genuinely curious why you decided to ask me this, because it’s not like there hasn’t been enough talking on that matter at this point. But hell, let me bite on that. Warning, personal opinions ahead, read at your own risk.Let me start with this: I never had any faith in Fallout 76, nor did I ever had any faith in any Fallout game by Bethesda since the moment I played Fallout 3. I never in my entire life hated a game more than I hated it and I don’t want to be like “Bethesda is ruining the series” but I’m definitely not happy with the direction they’re taking. (and in case you’re curious, I played it before watching the famous “Fallout 3 sucks and here’s why” video). To be fair, I’m not a big fan of theirs in general, their approach to RPGs seem not to be my thing, I’m put off by their way of character writing in particular (or more like, the lack of character writing because I swear, most of their characters have no soul) so I understand that there are people who look for different things in their games and to which those type of games will be entertaining. For me tho the series died after New Vegas, and I have no hopes for a good Fallout game for as long as Bethany is holding the rights to itAs for Fallout 76, no, I don’t own the game and I’m not planning on getting it anytime soon. I watched few reviews made by youtubers I trust (because let’s be honest, not every review can be trusted, a lot of people just jumped on the negative train for views and profits) and there is nearly nothing that I find interesting in it. The only thing that imo it could be good for is roleplaying, but since all my friends I could possibly roleplay with either live in different time zones or use different gaming platforms I’m probably not going to get it for that either. That and I really don’t wanna give Todd any of my money.What annoys me beyond measure is all the shit Bethesda is doing, releasing an unfinished game (and no “they’ll fix it up later” is not an excuse, it’s not some early access steam game, it’s a big production prepared by a big gaming company), dropping the price shortly after premiere, refusing refunds and now delivering a product of a way worse quality than promised to people who got the special edition, then offering a laughable refund of 5$ of worthless in-game currency. The fucked up, they fucked up big, this is not the first time they fucked up big, and yet I still see people giving them a free pass or wondering why they get criticized. It’s not about you and whether or not you’re enjoying the game, I get that a constant criticism of the thing you like can get tiring after a while, but it’s a part of a bigger problem the gaming industry has, and it won’t get any better until we as gamers won’t start acting more responsible and stop throwing money at companies that play dirty, just because they release a game with a label of a franchise we like. Yes, I hope the backslash Bethesda will face because of this hurts them a lot, just like it was with EA and their loot boxes, and hopefully that’ll change somethin. Because even if I don’t have faith in Bethesda’s Fallout I feel bad for people who got the game expecting something better and I hope that in the future they’ll be able to get a good game from a company that thinks a little more about their consumers and the quality of their products. so from what i understand i’m halfway through the game and i have some Thoughts(TM)

Tl;dr engaging but frustrating so far

-Again v few complaints on combat, aside of the long-ass cooldown periods between...literally everything. DAO kept you micromanaging shit all the time and it was part of the charm. otherwise fun as tits

-I’m so far liking ALL companions (even if u see me bitch about fenris a lot it’s 99% my bad gameplay making him land in the rival zone i genuinely love him and am romancing the heck outta him on another playthrough) a lot. while DAO’s companions are all engaging too those in DA2 feel...human, with their frustrating aspects, their own motives and the fact that they hang out in different places. THAT SAID. 

-bioware if u wanted to  make companion interactions realistic you should have kept DAO’s “chat while on the run” options? why can’t i discuss idk #magerights stuff with Anders on the go? why can’t i exchange bad puns with varric out of the blue? there are so few conversation options it feels like u literally only talk to these people once every five months instead of the fun found family vibes people on tumblr have told me about 

-speaking of which, this game, while easier on the combat, is so so much less forgiving on the choices you make which imo sucks. given how FEW interactions you have there is little turning back 

-these recycled maps are painful goddamn

-i’m not very fond of what became of anders (u know i fucking loved the cat lord in awakening) but i feel like that’s a common sentiment. he’s a tragic character but i understand how he makes people uncomfortable now. reading up on how he’s coded bipolar....that writing is...yeah. oof. i know what happens with the chantry but have yet to experience the context so i don’t have a fully fledged opinion on him tho.

-my stance is still pro-mage til death, chantry can rot, tevinter can burn in hell too. 

-Dana hawke is a blue-with-purple-tinge hawke with worsening eyesight issues, looks chill but is Absolutely Not given the amount of Fucking Up, help her. 

-anders and fenris should be the start of many slowburn friendship fic (or romance fics whatever floats ur boat) tbh. having them in my party is a walking Discourse
