What in Christ am I even going to wear to work. Like.
#my manager said ‘wear a coat and big boots because we’re going to be roaming the reserve’ and i was like ‘yep way ahead of you chief’#i was still wearing my big coat and hiking boots when i called her because i’d just walked mabel (who was looking at me strangely)#but beyond that i just.. don’t know. i’m going to go with bland trousers and black long sleeved t-shirt i think#BUT i need to bring my backpack because i’m bringing lunch and a water bottle and probably my filofax so i can organise my timetable#and pens obviously and my wallet#but if i am wearing my backpack i can’t also wear my big coat because the feeling of fabric bunched up under my arms makes me want to scream#and tear my skin off. so what do i do? layers?? fleece + waterproof coat and pray to god it’s not too cold?????#i’d do a trial run but if i put my coat on in front of mabel at this hour she’ll think i’ve finally lost it. she might do a stress pee#i’m already so tired and i haven’t even worked a full shift there yet. i have no idea what to bring for lunch either#i’m just going to buy a shitload of fruit and random snacks and sandwich fillings tomorrow and try to assemble something that seems right#or maybe i’ll just cheat; buy a premade salad and keep it cold with a frozen capri sun. 🧐🧐🧐#god i’d Love to bring a prawn cocktail but having prawns at room temperature is so bad and i don’t even really trust the ice pack#i was thinking about making fried rice but i hear conflicting reports about how long it’ll keep for and how to store it and if you can even#reheat it#i don’t know why i’m trying to be interesting. i am 100% going to end up bringing a sad cheese sandwich; a bunch of grapes; mini cheddars#and a cereal bar & spend my whole lunch break gazing sadly at the people who were coordinated enough to bring pasta or salad#or any sort of prepped meal that could be reheated#i just want to TRY#personal

uh, big tw for a rant abt my sui attempt and like complete detail so definitely don’t read it unless you’re in a good state of mind please ily all maybe don’t read it at all actually idk i just needed to get it out and pretend someone actually cares
also it’s very long
today last year i went back to school after a fantasy dream trip to California with my dad for sailing
i sat down in my math class and i realized i hated my school, i was failing at everything i used to be good at, i had lost all my friends, my ex had ghosted me for a week and a half, my teachers thought i was weird for bringing a teddy bear to school in 10th grade, and my parents were always dissapointed,
i was worth nothing to nobody, and i had pills in my backpack
so i sat through my math class, and my chemistry class, and then i went and sat in my hallway for lunch, alone
i sat there with my pills in one hand and my bear in my lap and i stared at them, and i stared at them, and i held my bear, but before i could let myself chicken out i swallowed em without even taking a sip of water and then my hand was empty
and i panicked for a minute
i thought about going to the bathroom and purging
but then i calmed down, i just sat there with my bear for lunch, and felt numb, id have cried maybe if i could, but i couldn’t
tbh i didn’t think there were enough pills to kill me actually i just was kinda hoping they would anyway but two periods later i could feel it
it was really cold, like ice, like slowing down, and i started thinking about my childhood, i wrote a story for my english class that day, 5th period, about a person drowning in an icy lake, remembering all the warm days they’d lived, and my tablemates loved it, they were asking question about like, what it was about, and i just told them i didn’t know
i spent 6th period trying not to pass out and failing, it was so cold even with all my sweaters, from the pills and all the weight i’d been losing, my hair was greasy and my clothes were dirty and i was slumped over in my seat in the very back of spanish thinking “maybe ill actually really die after all”
i went to drama club after school and sat in the crappy auditorium chairs and wrote two letters, one to my parents telling them i didn’t expect the pills to kill me and one to my ex, one i never sent, it’s still sitting in my room sealed in an envelope with two of his favorite teas, im too scared to read my desperation but i can’t throw it out either
i went home and i set everything up on my desk in case i really did die and i finished the day and went to bed not really expecting or at least kind of hoping i wouldn’t wake up, i didn’t even say goodbye to my ex, or anyone else, there wasn’t anyone else to say goodbye to anyway
but i woke up the next morning and on the walk to my bus stop i was furious, i was miserable, and i was numb, i watched the pine needles pass under my feet and i could only think about how fucking stupid it was that i was still alive, and i learned nothing from the previous days fear because i told myself that after school, after therapy, i was going to take the rest of my bottle that was in my room
and yeah
idk
i’ll make another post about the hospital cuz fuck
but like
that was a whole year ago now
i remember all of it
and now it’s this year
and i’m still alive but like
nothing has really changed and honestly? what the fuck
why does nothing change
why does nothing get better
why didn’t i get help? was i not sick enough? why have i had to try and fail over and over again to pull myself out of that hole with only a therapist who got fired and a therapist who quit and a doctor who said im too fat for an eating disorder?
i mean what’s the fucking point

You Belong With Me Part 2
I wrote this instead of doing my physics homework, I hope you enjoy, especially @grimmbunniee who gave me the inspiration for a part 2
You can read Part 1 here
You avoid Eddie like the fucking plague all weekend. You couldn’t face him, not after he told you he was in love with you yet slept with Chrissy Cunningham. Monday rolls around and you regret letting Eddie take you and your sister to school everyday. As you finish packing up your lunches, you call out for Max.
“Max hurry up or we will be late”
“What do you mean late? We have 10 more minutes until we have to leave with munson.” She replies Snatching her lunch off the counter.
“We are riding the bus today,” you said under your breath. You love your sister, but she can be really harsh and you don't need her judgemental eyes right now.
“Seriously y/n? You and Munson get into a fight and I’m the one who has to suffer”
“Come on Max let’s just go” you say, pulling her out the front door to walk to the bus stop.
Just as Eddie was exiting his trailer to get in his van he noticed you and Max climbing up the steps of the bus. He remembered confessing his love to you at the party even though he was extremely drunk.
The whole day you avoided Eddie, dodging him was simple because you knew his whole schedule. You knew the hallways he walked down and the classes he had, so you just carefully went the opposite direction.
That’s until lunch rolled around. You were going to just eat your bagged lunch in the outside hallway but you knew if you did that max would most likely come looking for you, further bringing you avoidance of Eddie to the rest of the parties attention. You walk in slowly, mentally deciding that you will sit next to Max and act like nothing has happened. Once you start approaching the table you look up to see Chrissy running over to sit in Eddie's lap. He wore a huge grin and they both looked genuinely happy.. at least at this moment. You sit down not making any acknowledgement towards Eddie’s presence as you listen to Dustin talk about his science fair project. As lunch ended, Max turned to you and said, “don’t get on the bus to go home I’m not riding in the death trap again” you respond with an eye roll and “you really want to walk home? That would take us at least 45 minutes”
“No” she responded, “I called Steve he said he would be happy to give us a ride” at that comment Eddie began to choke on his pretzels. He coughed loudly, grabbing towards his water bottle for a drink.
“Oh my god are you ok?” You looked at him with an honest look of concern.
He nodded back trying to catch his breath. You went to ask him again just to be sure but the lunch bell rang snapping you out of your concern.
When the end of the school day came you met Max at your usual spot in front of the school. You were upset with her, you didn’t mind Steve but you also weren’t the biggest fan of him. Back in his ‘King Steve’ days he definitely wasn’t the nicest to you.
“Why the hell would you think it is ok to call Steve?” You said angrily as you approached Max.
She rolled her eyes, something she did all the time and definitely something she picked up from you.
“I don’t see what the big deal is? You somehow managed to make us lose our ride so I got us a new one. I’m not riding that damn bus”
“You know you aren’t too good for that bus. That’s your problem max you think you are so much better than everyone around you” you didn’t mean to pick a fight with your sister. You’ve always been the one to take care of her but right now you felt like she crossed the line.
“Well excuse me, it’s not my fault you are in fucking love with Eddie but too much of an idiot to admit it to him!”
Just as you were getting ready to yell back at her Steve pulled up in his car and honked as he rolled the window down. “Hey ladies!” He calls out to you and max “I heard you were in need of a ride”
You sigh as you adjust your backpack and give Max a very annoyed look. You both start heading over to Steve, you want to get in the back but Max jumps in as you open the door so you decide to sit up front. Eddie spots you as he is walking next to Chrissy getting an ear full about how he doesn’t support her cheerleading as much as he should.
“Well how are the two pretty red heads of Hawkins High doing?” Steve said with a smile. You just sit in the passenger seat, arms crossed.
“Well I would be doing great since I got an A on my biology test but my sister insists on being the biggest bitch at Hawkins High” Max comments.
“You know what? This was dumb. I’ll just try to catch the bus since I’m not too good to ride it” you say as you start to get out.
“Come on y/n, let me just give you a ride this time. The bus has already left and you’ll be stuck walking for sure.”
You sigh and shut the door.
The ride home was quiet. As soon as he pulled up in front of your trailer, Max bolted out.
“Thanks for the ride, we appreciate it” you say quietly as you pull your backpack up to get out.
“Anytime” Steve says.
Before you exit the car, Steve gently grabs your arm.
“I need to apologize to you Red, I didn’t mean all those things I said in high school. I was just dumb and trying to fit in. I think you are really cool and I would love to get to know you better”
You smile, “I can only accept your apology if you give Dio a chance. And I mean a real chance”
“Anything for you” Steve said laughing as you pulled the tape out of your backpack and handed it to him.
“You know, this means we are going to have to see each other again soon so I can give this tape back. Preferably longer than the 5 minute drive from the school to your house?” He said as he fidgeted with the tape.
“How about Friday night?” You said with a smile.
“It’s a date”
As the week passed by you focused less and less on Eddie and Chrissy and more on Steve. He was actually a really nice guy. He was really caring and listened to you. He continued to give you and your sister a ride to and from school every day as you promised that you were saving up every penny you had to hopefully get your own car soon.
As you walked up to the hellfire table to sit down Dustin said “well well well, who do we have here?” You furrowed your eyebrows unsure of what he was talking about.
“It just so happens Steve said he couldn’t give us a ride home after Hellfire tonight because he would be on a date…” Dustin started, and Mike finished “..with you!” a huge grin covering his face.
“I never thought I would see the day that you and Harrington actually got along” Dustin said with a laugh as you blushed.
Eddie approached the table, Chrissy hanging on to his arm, “what are we talking about over here? Hopefully about the new character sheets you all should have done for tonight”
“Y/n won’t be able to make it, she has a date” Dustin said wiggling his brows.
Eddie coughed, “a date? With who”
You didn’t say anything, piling a cracker into your mouth as quickly as possible.
“Steve! Steve actually asked her out! I never thought I would witness such an event” Dustin laughed clearly not reading the room.
Eddie laughed, “seriously Harrington? You’ve got to be kidding me”
“What? He’s too good for me too? What does it matter to you anyway” you said as you scowled at him.
“I’m just saying he is not your type at all, Mayfield”
“That’s rich coming from you” you rolled your eyes.
“What’s that supposed to mean?
“Oh I don’t know, just that last week you were telling me how in love you were with me and how Chrissy wasn’t your type at all yet here you are with her hanging all over you like a prize or something” you didn’t mean for that to come out in front of the whole table.
Eddie sat there scrabbling to find words. Chrissy sat there for a moment taking in the new information you just released before getting up, grabbing the carton of milk off of Gareth’s tray and pouring it on Eddie’s head. Once it was empty she tossed the carton in your direction and ran off.

“That's enough. Go to your room.” Sam demanded angrily, looking down at the cheerios covering the kitchen floor that he now would have to clean up.
“Papa-”
“All you do is cause trouble and I'm done! To your room, now!”
She's been bad again. It was the third time this week. She has been disobedient and impatient. Whenever Papa and Daddy told her to do anything she somehow managed to mess it up. Sam had told her not to touch anything but she wanted to help nevertheless. She couldn’t reach the cupboard though and ended up spilling the box of cereal all over the place.
Her gaze dropped and she walked to her room without another word and a few minutes later, Bucky came to give her lunch and collect her phone and tablet, taking away her screen time for the day.
“But daddy-”
“No, doll. I'm taking them away. You never listen anymore and it needs to stop.”
Papa and Daddy are mad at you. They don't love you no more. They're sick of you. You never listen and you're always bad. They could be so much happier and calmer if it wasn't for you always riling them up. They were done. It needed to stop. They don't love you no more. They don't want you no more. They don't love you. They don't want you.
She sat wallowing in her room, tears gathering in her eyes as her own mind attacked her. Maybe it was all true. All she does is cause trouble.
So maybe if she left…
She got up and got her big girl backpack out of the closet.
Maybe if she left Papa and Daddy would be better off without her.
Tears streamed down her cheeks as she gathered and pushed items into her bag.
Maybe if she was gone they would be less angry.
She zipped the bag up before sloppily slipping her socks on and picking up her stuffed friend.
Maybe if she escaped the house she could escape her thoughts too; leave them all in her room and go.
She wiped her cheeks, tiptoed out of her room, found her shoes by the front door and quietly got into them. She could hear Daddy and Papa lowly laughing together while they got things done in the backyard. Leaving really was the right decision then; they were happier without her.
Taking one, last, tear-blurred look at the house, she stepped outside and quietly closed the door behind her. She held her small white bunny to her chest and sniffed before taking off, walking to the only place that would bring her comfort.
~
“She's going to be so happy. I can't wait to see her face.” Sam smiled proudly, hands on his waist as he took one last look at the swing he and Bucky have put together for their baby girl in the backyard.
“I really hope she likes it.” Bucky smiled back in agreement before opening the door for Sam and walking inside behind him.
They felt they were too hard on her that morning and she was usually a good girl, only intending to do good for her Daddy and Papa. So they decided to build the swing earlier than they’d previously planned to lighten things up again.
“Is it just me or is it awfully quiet in here?” Bucky murmured, bringing the water bottle down from his mouth and looking around the living room in slight suspicion.
“I mean, she is in a timeout and you did take away her phone,” Sam reminded him, trying not to let himself panic as he got himself a water bottle from the fridge.
But it wasn’t that. Bucky could still hear her presence no matter how quiet. He could hear her crayons gliding on paper when she would sit down to color. He could hear her hum as she organized her toys around the table for tea parties. This quietness wasn’t normal.
Bucky jogged up the stairs to her room and just as he feared, she wasn't in there. Her sandwich was untouched. Her closet was open and her backpack and favourite blankie were missing.
“Sam!” He called for his husband, taking long strides to their bedroom to find she wasn't there either.
Sam ran up the stairs at Bucky's freaked tone and saw him pacing through the hallway.
“She's not here.”
“What?” Sam’s heart sank into his stomach.
“I can't find her.” Bucky shook his head at Sam, running his fingers through his hair in growing panic.
“Hey, calm down. We're gonna find her.” Sam rubbed a hand down Bucky's back, trying to hide his own fright for Bucky's sake as his mind ran to every single place she knew how to get to on her own.
“How? How are we gonna find her? We don't even know where she went or if she's okay-”
Sam put a hand on Bucky’s shoulder, the other cupping his cheek.
“Hey, breathe,” Sam instructed, slowly breathing so Bucky could copy him, trying to send away the panic attack ready to take over him. Bucky nuzzled his palm, his breath coming out shaky.
“That's it, Buck. In and out.” He moved his hands to Bucky’s.
“But she was so little when we sent her to her room and she probably doesn't even have any ID or money with her-”
“Bucky,” Sam squeezed his husband’s hands.
“We can't lose her, Sam. I can't- I took her phone away- if she's in trouble, she won't be able to-”
“Bucky, baby, we're gonna find her and she's gonna be okay. I promise.” Sam reassured him with words he himself wasn't sure would turn out to be true, his large palm stroking up and down the tense muscles of Bucky’s back, “I need you to keep breathing for me.”
Bucky tried to manage his breathing, slightly calming down to the thought of getting to hold her again.
“She couldn't have gotten that far, so we're gonna look around and I'm gonna call Steve, okay?” Bucky nodded at Sam's words, glossy eyes closing as Sam planted a kiss to the side of his forehead, “okay, baby. Let's go.”
~
Sam took the car, driving slowly, roaming the neighborhood to see if she was anywhere around the area. He was asking anyone and everyone who passed by his car if they've seen her. But apparently, no one has. Not even the old couple at the end of the street with the dog she loved to pet so much.
Bucky chose to go on foot as he walked in the other direction, preferring to depend on his enhanced senses instead of talking to other people. Even if he did talk to them for help, no one would understand that while her picture looked like that of a grown lady, she was a mere baby. They would never understand their panic.
Sam rubbed his forehead in frustration, leaning it against the wheel. He’d just hung up with Steve. He said she didn't come to his place; didn't even stop by. In fact, he hasn’t heard from her at all and got worried when Sam called. He took an uneven breath, trying to maintain his cool before he lifted his head up and started the car again.
~
Leaning back on the big tree, she wrapped her soft blankie tighter around her frame. It was getting kind of chilly and she was starting to regret leaving now that it wasn't that sunny anymore. The tears drying on her cheeks made her shiver even more and she sniffled, kissing her bunny's head and tugging the stuffed animal under her chin. She hoped Daddy and Papa were feeling better now that she was no longer there with them.
“Doll?” She heard Bucky's voice and before she could wonder if she'd imagined it, she was pressed to a hard chest.
“Oh, thank god,” Bucky sighed, kissing the side of her head over and over again, his hands tight around her back, holding her and her bunny close to his frantically beating heart.
“Baby, why'd you leave like that? We were so worried! We looked everywhere, we called everyone.” Bucky kissed her forehead a bunch before “-oh right!”
He got his phone out of his pocket with one arm, the other still firmly holding her to his chest. She kept holding onto her bunny, not really getting what was happening. Was she in trouble for leaving unannounced or not? Why would Daddy and Papa want to find her? She was nothing but trouble.
“Sam, I found her! We're in our secret place in the park.”
At Bucky's call, Sam took a sharp turn, stepping on the gas to get to the park as fast as he could.
“Are you okay, doll? Are you hurt anywhere?” Bucky asked her after hanging up, anxiously checking her head, face, arms and legs for injuries.
She shook her head silently, fresh, hot tears burning at the brims of her eyes.
“Thank god.” Bucky hugged her to his chest again, “we were so scared, doll. We were so scared.”
He kissed her damp cheeks and chin as she kept biting her lip, quietly sniveling.
She'd scared them. She'd worried them. Why was it always that she did something wrong while trying to do anything right? She was no good.
“It’s okay, love. I found you. I’m right here.” Bucky kissed her eyelids, then her nose, thinking she was crying because she was lost alone.
He pulled her on his lap and adjusted himself in her place, his back to the tree trunk as he held her close, fearing she’d disappear if he were to loosen his grip around her.
“Sugar!” Sam’s voice echoed through the empty part of the park when he saw her burrito-wrapped body in Bucky’s lap.
“Papa’s here, doll. It’s okay.” Bucky whispered to her when she didn’t stop crying.
She turned around and her eyes met Sam’s watery, brown ones.
“Hey, sugar,” Sam greeted softly, getting down on his knees before her.
Her lower lip jutted out further as new tears soaked her pretty face. It hasn’t even been a whole day and she’s missed Papa and Daddy so much. How was she ever planning on running away from them or being without them?
“Aww, no, no, baby, it’s okay,” Sam cooed, bringing her to his chest and engulfing her in a protective hug.
Her blanket fell in Bucky’s lap and she dropped her bunny to cling to Sam, barely quieting her sobs.
Not able to hold himself together any longer, a tear escaped Sam’s eye his gaze met Bucky’s. He buried his nose in her hair and squeezed her closer to him, sighing in relief that they’ve found her. His mind kept torturing him with scenarios of her getting hurt and not getting help. He didn’t know what he would’ve done if they’d actually lost her.
“You’re okay, sugar. Papa’s here with you. I’m sorry it took us so long, baby. We were looking in a lot of places.” Sam sniffled, pulling back to pepper featherlike kisses all over her face.
“You wanted to find me?” Her small, brittle voice asked, doe eyes staring up sadly.
“What? Of course we wanted to find you, baby! Why would you think otherwise?!”
“But I was bad. You w-were done. It needed to stop,” she repeated his and Bucky’s words on him and Sam felt shame cover him from head to toe, Bucky not any different as he bit down to stop his tears.
“Doll,” Bucky went to hold her hands only to find they were freezing.
“Shit! She’s too cold,” he told Sam, who immediately started taking off his jacket.
“Dada, bad word,” she softly reminded Bucky, covering her mouth with her hand before Sam got out of his jacket.
Sam slipped his warm jacket on her and pulled the zipper up, her small hands disappearing inside the long sleeves.
“Good girl, sugar. It is a bad word.” He rolled the sleeves back just enough to get her palms out so she could still hold her bunny.
“But you don’t see me asking daddy to leave because he was bad, do you?” Sam asked tenderly and she shook her head no.
“Exactly, I’m not. You know why?” Sam pressed kisses to both of her hands multiple times, rubbing them between his palms to warm her up.
“Why, papa?” she asked as he carried her in his arms; Bucky gathering the rest of her stuff.
“Because I love him so much." Sam wiped her tears. "And both me and daddy love you so so so much, sugar.” He pressed a firm kiss to her temple.
Bucky handed her the small bunny back after patting any dust or leaves out of it.
“We never want you to go, doll.” Bucky pressed a kiss to her shoulder.
“Even when I’m really really bad?”
“Even if you’re really really bad,” Sam guaranteed, kissing her temple again.
“But- I thought papa and daddy would be happier and not so angry no more if I left,” she mumbled innocently as Sam started walking to the car with her in his arms.
“That could never be true, doll. We’re only happy as long as we have you,” Bucky reassured her, opening the backseat door so Papa could slip in with her on his lap.
“And you still love me?” Her pout, teary puppy eyes and words were just killing both men inside.
“Of course we love you, doll! We will always love you. We can never afford to lose you,” Bucky told her, his eyes searching hers to offer them comfort.
“Baby, we love you so much it’s uncountable, remember?” Sam ran his thumb over the knuckles of her stuffie-holding hands.
She nodded, her eyes teary but her smile comforted and reassured. “I love you too, Papa,” she mumbled, grabbing onto Sam’s thumb, her eyelids barely staying open.
“I’m sorry I left,” she sniffled.
“It’s alright, baby. We’re all together now and we're going home.” Sam kissed her forehead once more, wanting her to forget all about it and know everything was okay again.
“Told you we’d find her,” Sam said, drawing Bucky inside the car by the cheek and brushing his lips against his.
“You did.” Bucky nodded, pressing his forehead to Sam’s and kissing him again.
Bucky pulled back and smiled adoringly at her sleepy eyes fighting to stay open as she leaned onto Sam's chest before getting in the driver’s seat to take them home. Sam was caressing her hair and before she knew it her eyes were fluttering closed.
All the crying all day had drained her and her body could finally give up and relax now that she was in Papa’s hold; she was out like a light.
“You’re so important to me and daddy, sugar. Never ever forget that,” Sam whispered against her forehead before pressing a slow kiss to her skin.
She might've had no idea how adored and cherished she actually was, but that was okay. Sam and Bucky had a lifetime ahead of them where they could show her again and again that they loved and needed her just as much as she did them.
~
“Dada! Papa! Wake up! We have a swing!”
She’d fallen asleep pretty early in the car last night and neither Sam nor Bucky had the heart to wake her up when they got home. So they took her shoes and socks off and tucked her in in their bed.
Now they had to deal with her waking up way too early. She’d gone to the bathroom on her own like a good girl before her stomach hungrily grumbled. And when she got to the kitchen for a cup of water and maybe the plate of fruit in the fridge, her eyes fell on the swing showing outside the small window on the kitchen door.
Bucky rolled over and opened his eyes first, her jumping on her knees on the bed beside him pulling him out of his dreams. Sam, however, didn’t move a muscle. The man slept so soundly that sometimes Bucky was jealous. How heavy of a sleeper could a person be?
“Yes, we do, baby.” Bucky chuckled. “Me and papa built it just for you.” He smiled sleepily at her excited face before annoyingly poking Sam’s back, “Sam, wake up.”
“Tank you, dada.” She settled back on her ankles though still buzzing with joy.
“You like it, sugar?” Bucky opened his arms wide for her.
“Yes, I love it.” She nodded happily before perching herself on his hard chest, cutely kissing his jaw, “and I love you, dada.”
“Sam.” He affectionately punched his sleeping husband’s shoulder, smirking when he heard him groan, “she likes the swing.”

Backpack Dissection
aight so I finally cleaned my bathroom meaning I have a great space to finally give y’all a peek into my modern backpack as promised!
Tumblr media
So first off, the backpack. It’s honestly fairly small and simple in the grand scheme of backpacks - it has one front pocket and one extra pocket inside the main bit. I have a collection of pins on the front that I like!!
Tumblr media
The front pocket holds a bunch of miscellaneous stuff that I don’t use very often. I’m not gonna list everything in here because it would make the list needlessly long, but main items of interest are:
Spare period products for emergencies
Bandaids
Panadol
My large collection of spare pride pins because the fuckers keep falling off and I MUST display my gay at ALL TIMES
Tumblr media
Now!! The main pocket. This is where it gets interesting.
First off, there are three things you should know about me which will explain the next section: I am tired, poor, and full of anti-capitalist spite.
I worked out that if I brought my own instant noodles (they’re way cheaper at the supermarket than out of the vending machines), as well as a bowl thing and eating implements, I would be able to cook them in the hot water available on campus and save money. This is mostly a last resort mind you. It happened that I had a perfect bowl-thing on me - it’s too wide to be a cup, but too narrow to be a normal bowl, and it has a cork lid. It’s the perfect size for my needs, and the lid helps with cooking them.
Buying oat bars in large packets at the supermarket also works out to be cheaper than vending machine oat bars. I usually keep at least 2 on me of different flavours. The one I have pictured here can also be heated up in the microwaves (available in the campus kitchen) which is actually really nice.
Bringing my own tea is wayyyyy cheaper than buying it, and I can actually brew it properly. All this needs is teabags (in the jar), a takeaway cup, honey (small cling wrapped jar so it doesn’t leak), a teaspoon, and a small jar/bottle of milk (not pictured - i decant it the morning I’ll need it). Again, I have hot drinkable water available to me on tap.
Altogether this means that I can have breakfast, lunch, and cups of tea, all within my budget. These items are mostly a last resort - if I can I’ll add a sandwich or banana bread or something in the morning, as that’s a lot better than instant noodles - but if for some reason the bus schedule changes to half an hour earlier leaving me 15 minutes total to get ready, I won’t starve. (Yes that happened to me. Last Thursday in fact).
Other items are:
My water bottle (very important!)
A spare shopping bag
A crafting project to do on the bus and in lectures (currently knitting, as it’s compact)
A large notebook and pen
Not pictured:
My computer
The chargers for my computer & phone
The various other items I keep in my handbag: scissors, a lighter, wallet, keys, earbuds, a comb, many pens and pencils, sunglasses, tissues, hair ties, hand sanitizer & a mask
Future goals:
I want to get two 500mL water bottles so that I can keep them in the side pockets. I don’t put my current one in them because it unbalances it.
I’m gonna put in a larger variety of teas so I can have Choice™. Some of these will include non-milk teas for the days I forget to bring any (it happens).
Anyway, so that’s my modern adventuring supplies. I hope it was all interesting to y’all!! Feel free to ask any questions or give any advice, I welcome either 😄

i got 2 for yes so throws this at you then retreats
Everything was wonderful but-
Hiroshi tucked the official looking letter into his backpack just in case he’d need it, the one that detailed he was to take his exams in the gymnasium of a different highschool called Juuban, the address, the time. It was going to be an all day hell marathon instead of spread out over a couple days, because PK could only monopolize a different school’s facilities for so long. Hiroshi was glad he was taking the bare minimum of classes he needed to graduate.
He surprised himself by being nervous. Of course it was normal to be nervous about exams, that wasn’t the part that was surprising, but he was worried about, well.
About seeing Suzuki again.
Hiroshi hadn’t really made an attempt to reach out to the friend that’d set Kusuo up and pinned it on himself. He hadn’t had the balls, honestly, and he’d been kinda afraid.
He was still pissed.
Suzuki, of course, hadn’t made any efforts either. Shinji had the air of a guy caught in the middle and trying not to think about it too hard, so Hiroshi didn’t bother bringing it up.
‘I’ll just give him the cold shoulder,’ Hiroshi decided, packing his lunch and a water bottle, jamming it into the fullness of crumpled papers and who knew what else. ‘The last thing I need is to get into a fight on exam day.’
The note taped to his lunchbox wishing him good luck was one he smiled at but barely read.
He had a boyfriend to go pick up after all, so Hiroshi swung his bag over his shoulder and ran for his bike. There were better things to look forward to than former friends.
~~~
“So are you feeling ready, Aren?”
Aren cringed. On seeing that, Nendo laughed and stretched out his arms toward the sun.
“It’s too bad you guys aren’t geniuses like me! I got this in the bag.”
Shun’s turn to cringe. “Nendo, just because you scored the same as Saiki last time doesn’t-” He stopped himself and dropped his head, sighing hard. “Nevermind, there’s no point. Well, at least I’ll have something to look forward to when my mama compares my grades to your so called ‘genius’.”
He grinned at the thought. Maybe that would help to get his mama off his back a little. But it might also mean that if she saw reality she’d force him to stop hanging out with Nendo and why was his tummy getting all tight and hot and bothered like that was a bad thing?
Wasn’t like he liked the big lug!
Or, well… Shun considered the aching in his stomach and decided he’d think about that more later. He was almost a highschool graduate, just one semester away if he passed this hell day of finals.
It was time to start working on making his own decisions more.
“Well,” Shun reached up to pat at Aren’s shoulder, the lack of bandages meaning the texture of his friend’s uniform felt odd and new and a little overmuch. He squeezed anyway, trying to be a reassuring friend. “We studied so much! I’m sure you’ll do fine!”
Aren smiled weakly and scratched at his head. “Yeah, maybe. I dunno, man, it’s like. I know it. I know my stuff. But when I sit down in front of the exam it all just,” His hands made a spreading gesture. “Fucks off!”
Grimacing, Shun nodded. He could relate to that, but he knew exactly what his problem was - sheer, unbridled anxiety, fear of failure, and the fear of letting down his entire family with one bad test score that could turn into two, into three, and anyways, it was sorta weird to hear that coming from Aren though. He’d never of expected Aren to have anxiety or anything like that at all, the guy was so big, strong, and confident…
But Shun hadn’t expected Saiki to be any of the things Saiki had been in front of him in the past month or so either, so.
‘Something something assumptions, right?’
“Yall just need to relax!”
Shun let a whumph as a rock solid arm slung around him, just about hoisting him up in a not-unfamiliar gesture of Nendo’s regular exuberance. This time Aren was getting it too, though, and Nendo’s burly face lowered into his sight with a great big smile.
“It’s like taking a shit! Aint nothin gonna come out if you’re squeezed up tight and holding it in!”
There was a lot of things going on in Shun’s body right now. Why did Nendo have to be so gross all the damn time!? Stomach curdling, Shun took a breath to yell-
And paused. And even around the dripping sensation of repulsion oozing down his brain, clarity sank in, and he registered exactly what it was that Nendo had said. With a groan that sounded as gurgling as his stomach felt, he dragged a hand down his face.
Under Nendo’s other arm, Aren started to laugh in helpless sobbing bleats. Good thing Nendo was holding onto him otherwise the former delinquent would be sprawling on the gro-nope, nevermind, there he went, slumping into a puddle of airless guffaws that sounded like they hurt.
Well la dee da for him because personally speaking, Shun was struggling.
Deeply.
“Nendo,” He wrestled himself away and rasped his fist across the burl of Nendo’s bicep, “You big lug it doesn’t work like that, you can’t just take a-” Shun hiccuped and ground his teeth and forced it out, his face hot and his hands wild. “A stool softener for your brain you jackass!”
Nendo blinked at him, casual and unaffected per his usual when he wasn’t being a brat. He looked at Aren on the ground. “Hey new kid, aint that whats coffee for?”
Shun was going to fucking die, he needed to escape this entire thing right now, Aren could fend for himself the traitor. Spinning on his heel he made it only a few more feet toward Saiki’s house, their destination, before he noticed something and paused.
“Oh hey isn’t that-?”
Yeah, Saiki’s new boyfriend, a grin on his damp tan skin, on a bicycle, and Saiki on the back of it with an expression so glazed and fluff stricken it looked as though all his dreams had come true at once.
Shun blinked and by the time he opened his eyes again the pair was gone.
Absent, a smile touched his face.
In the sky, the sun was bright and unshrouded in the vast expanse of blue, the horizon bending round beneath his feet, and Shun felt at once connected and distance.
Things had changed.
But that was okay.
A little dizzy he spun around with a smile.
“Think if we run we can beat them to school?”
Nendo blinked before his face warped into his fiercest, shadowed grin. He scooped Aren off the ground and held out a hand to Shun.
“Hop on, Pipsqueak!”
With a grin of his own, Shun took the burly hand and hopped to it. Lifted to Nendo’s shoulder with ease he turned and jabbed a finger at the omnipresent sky.
“Onwards, ho!”
“Did you just call me a ho?”
Shun flinched. “What, no not like that it mea-” He clapped a hand on his face. “They’re gonna win, just go!”
~~~
The clouds weren’t in a hurry, which was fine because neither were they.
Kusuo couldn’t remember a time where he’d ever felt so flustered and relaxed in his life.
“You okay back there?”
Of course he was. There wasn’t a bump in the road that could aggravate his stomach, not like this.
‘What sort of face must I be making right now?’
Whatever one Hiroshi could see in his rear view mirror, Kusuo was certain it was embarrassing but, somehow, he just couldn’t bring himself to care.
It was Hiroshi.
He didn’t want to hide around Hiroshi.
It was really something right out of a glitzy star kissed fantasy, the kind of one Kusuo would barely admit to himself under the darkness of his blankets for the impossibility of it but here he was, sitting on the back of Hiroshi’s bike as they rode to take their exams. It was a cliche so delirious it was making Kusuo a little dizzy for getting to experience it.
Yes, here he was, riding to school on the back of his boyfriend’s bicycle.
It probably looked odd, two boys as they were, but Kusuo had definitely seen odder, and his recovery was as such that a little bit of extra mind control to keep malicious attention away from them wasn’t much a stretch. Nothing to see here that was strange, Kusuo thought with a smile as he leaned to rest his head on the back of Hiroshi’s shoulder - just two boys on a bike.
No.
There was nothing odd about that at all.
Except-
Sundrops and lollipops evaporated from Kusuo’s head, his eyes snapping open.
“Whoa!” Hiroshi yelped and leaned to blink over his handlebars as the bike they were on lifted gradually into the sky.
He looked over his shoulder at the boy behind him. “Uhm. Kusuo?”
“Cops,” Kusuo might’ve hissed, just a bit, and to that Hiroshi said, “Ah.”
Then he blinked. “Wait-”
Kusuo scratched his cheek and his telepathy came out in a mumble that sounded chagrined. “Technically two people riding on one bike that isn’t tandem is against local bylaws.”
Hiroshi squawked and turned around fully at that, “What?!”
Kusuo nodded, and his cheeks were a rosy hue that nearly matched his hair, his eyes looking studiously away. “I’m sorry I didn’t tell you.”
It was somehow easy to ignore the fact they were some meters above street level, idling along at a ginger pace, when Kusuo looked as cute as that. Hiroshi beamed.
“You just wanted to ride with me on my bike that badly, huh?”
Kusuo knew he’d just been reflecting on how much he wanted to be honest with Hiroshi but he still found himself hiding his face in his bag nevertheless. Still, he did manage to nod, which was a good job for him he guessed.

“Be careful and don’t forget that a professional sorcerer is going to pick you up from the station,” Gojo hugged both Megumi and you. “Don’t talk to strangers and don’t waste your allowance on junk food.”
“Yeah, yeah.” Megumi pushed him away. “We’re going to ride on the train for only two hours, what’s the worst that can happen?”
“It feels like just yesterday when I met you two…” Gojo smiled, ignoring Megumi, and gave a dreamy sigh, still hugging you. “Now, you’re leaving me~”
“We’re gonna come back,” Megumi mumbled. “You know that.”
“He likes to be dramatic.” You finally broke the hug. “Do you want me to say anything to Yuuji?”
“Tell him to come back!” Gojo pouted his lips, wrapping his arms around himself. “It’s because of him that all of my students are leaving.”
“Wasn’t it you who sent him away to train with that sorcerer?” Megumi didn’t need an answer.
Gojo paused and his arms went limp, falling to his sides. “Yeah…”
“Did they leave?”
A familiar voice made you turn around. There she was, you had thought she wasn’t going to make it. With the biggest smile on your lips, you threw yourself in Nobara’s arms.
“Ahh, listen, listen, (name)! You have to bring souvenirs!” She was practically yelling in your ear and embracing you tightly. “I’m gonna miss you so bad.”
“We’re going away only for a week...” Megumi rolled his eyes.
Gojo leaned to whisper to Megumi’s ear. “They like to be dramatic.”
A loud whistle tore the chatter of the crowd in the train station.
It was time.
While Megumi took your bag from the ground and threw it over his shoulder to give you a little longer time to embrace Nobara, the two of you were giggling over something he couldn’t hear.
Another whistle came, only then you managed to let go of your friend to follow Megumi to get on the train. You stood in front of the closing doors to wave at your teacher and friend.
They waved back, Nobara blew you a kiss and it made you giggle.
Megumi lazily waved at the two through the door’s glass window as the loud whistle once again was heard. The train started rolling forward.
You couldn’t tear your eyes away from the two until Megumi pulled you toward a seat.
“This is exciting,” you smiled. “I wonder what kind of place Yuuji is staying at.”
“Yeah.”
“Yes to what?” you chuckled. “Is it exciting or-”
“It’s exciting,” Megumi said firmly. “I’m also curious about what the place is like.”
~~~
“Sometimes I wonder if that guy has a brain,” Megumi huffed and put his hand on his hip in annoyance. “I’ve never seen this professional sorcerer before so how did he think we were going to recognize him somehow?”
You agreed with a small chuckle but it turned into a gasp. Your eyes landed on a familiar spiky pink hair. A smile tugged at your lips as you dropped your bags to run forward.
“(name)-?” Megumi stood there in shock as you ran towards the man who was waiting with open arms.
“Yuuji!” You jumped into his arms and as soon as Yuuji caught you, he spun around laughing.
“I missed you!”
Yuuji let you down and held your hand instead as you walked over to Megumi.
He was frowning while Yuuji grabbed all of your bags to carry them himself.
“The sorcerer training me is out of town today. He’ll be back in two days. He told me to come and get you two to his house,” Yuuji simply explained. “How ya been doing?”
“Fine,” you said.
“Terrible,” Megumi groaned.
“Good,” Yuuji snickered.
~~~
A professional sorcerer’s house was more cramped than you thought it would be. Megumi and Yuuji had to share a futon together and sleep in the same room as you.
“You lived like this for a month already?” Megumi grimaced at the messy room.
Yuuji proudly smiled. “What? You can’t handle not sleeping in your own giant private room?”
“Don’t fight on our first day together!” You yelled from the kitchen.
Yuuji entered the room and leaned on the counter, watching you quietly.
You didn’t look up at him since you were cooking but he was oddly quiet. Finally, you asked what he wanted.
“I missed you.”
~~~
The village Yuuji was staying at was located very close to the mountains.
You were checking the map, “Our trail is starting here.” You pointed at the map on the ground, circling the small green spot with a red marker. “That’s our exact position,” you muttered. “We’ll go up to the mountain until this part.” You marked another spot on the map which was very far away from the current position, then slowly tapped the marker on the destination.
You gave a contented sigh, the cool air of the summer breeze was creeping on all of you as you folded the map and looked up, “Any questions?”
“No.” Yuuji jumped on his spot, “Let’s get going.”
You were the only one without a large backpack but you were carrying the necessity bag and the firewood was given into your care. It was all pretty heavy but it wasn’t anything you couldn’t handle.
Yuuji was leading the way, while Megumi was at the end making sure that nobody fell behind, which only meant you, since only you weren’t able to keep up with the others’ pace. You were right on one thing, hiking was very difficult and tiring. You were already drenched in sweat and it had been only half an hour. You took a deep breath while trying to walk up the trail, avoiding all the rocks and weird-looking plants.
Yuuji found a nice opening to take a break and eat lunch. The moment he put his backpack down he could see the two of you cheer with exhaustion, he laughed. “We’re going to eat lunch, we’re not there yet.”
Huffing, you sat on a big rock while Yuuji was taking out the lunch from the basket. Megumi handed water bottles to each of you. You took one and drank the whole bottle in one go, wiping your sweat to the ends of your shirt while lifting it, omitting the way Megumi was blushing.
~~~
“We made it!” you cheered.
The large clearing you arrived at was covered by tall trees and there were large rocks laid in a circle in the middle of the clearing. Yuuji claimed that it was from when he came here with his friends from the village before. It was simply a really popular camping spot but Megumi wasn't sure if he only eaned to bring you all here because there was a fire pit ready or for another reason. The plan was to have a nice hike and a picnic before returning back, you weren't going to camp here.
“You should check the view from that cliff.” Yuuji pointed towards the north with a smile. “It’s gorgeous, I’ve never seen anything like its view, it’s enough to make anyone tear up!”
“Where?” you asked, handing him a bottle of water.
“It’s like ten minutes that way.” He pointed north again. “I’m pointing at it, can’t you see?”
“Well, I thought you were going to give us the exact directions if it was located somewhere tricky and-” Megumi was walking inside the forest slowly without saying anything, “Wait, Fushiguro!” you yelled at him for not waiting and dropped your bags next to Yuuji.
He stopped walking, you caught up to him and you walked deeper into the forest together.
It was dead quiet. If it wasn’t for the shaking of the trees and the sounds of the cicadas, you would feel uncomfortable. Megumi liked the silence, it was peaceful.
Only a couple of minutes of walking later, you realized, the view from the cliff was breathtaking.
“I’ve never seen anything like this before.” You couldn’t hide the excitement in your voice. The sunlight made everything look like a painting, the colors of the trees and grass were an impossible bright orange.
Megumi nodded in agreement. “It was worth the walk.”
“Right? I thought he was overexaggerating but it’s actually prettier!” you gave a light chuckle. “I’m glad we got to see it together.”
“Yeah.” His gaze hesitantly dropped to your hand. A million thoughts went through his mind and he wanted to reach for you, taking your hand in his and holding it tightly. He wondered what you would do, you would just laugh and let him hold your hand as if it was no big deal.
To you it didn’t mean anything to be with him at this moment, enjoying the view and standing beside him. But to Megumi, it was heavenly yet not enough. He wanted to enjoy more time together or even spend years together. He knew once both of you graduated, you would go different ways but he desperately needed to stay with you.
He knew his life wouldn’t be the same without you in it.
“Fushiguro,” you said, voice quiet and soft. “I think I have someone I like.”
His body jolted, gaze lifting up to your face. You were blushing faintly.
“Who?” His voice was faint, not very like him. Clearing his throat, he asked again. “Who?”
You put your hands on your cheeks and closed your eyes with a grin. “Ahh, it’s so embarrassing.”
From the way you were blushing, he knew who it was.
I like you too.
He wanted to say it out loud. Megumi started blushing as well when he opened his mouth. “I-”
“It’s Yuuji!”
Why?
Megumi’s eyes widened, the view he had thought to be gorgeous was turning into a glimpse of hell and your lovely expression on your face nearly made him retch.
Why?
“That’s why Nobara wanted me to come here with you, she keeps telling me to say something but I’m just soooo embarrassed! I mean, I wanna be with him before that happens.”
Why him?
Your words didn’t reach him anymore, even if they did, he couldn’t register what they meant. Each word was something he couldn’t comprehend when put together, it felt like he was going insane.
Why him but not me?
As long as he treasured this time you had together, to him it would be enough. He didn’t have to be with you forever. He was fine just being friends.
Right?
“I’m gonna confess to him, Nobara thinks he likes me and-”
“Don’t.” Megumi turned to face you completely, his head was dizzy.
“Why not?” You were smiling, oh how cute. Knowing why you were smiling like this made his throat clench. “Don’t you think he likes me?”
“No,” he firmly responded. Your smile faltered, lips pressing together in worry. He had to do it. He had to do something. He was desperate to do something. “He likes Kugisaki.”
I love you more than he ever could.
“Oh,” you said, gaze dropping to the ground. “I… I never noticed.”
“I know it because he told me. You shouldn’t get in between him and her.” His tone was colder than ice. He realized how badly his hands were shaking and quickly put them in his pockets to hide them from your view.
“I see,” you whispered. Perhaps, your best friend liked him too. It would be cruel to prevent them from getting together. Yes. Although it hurt, you were fine. Fine.
Your vision blurred with tears.
Ah.
Hastily, you wiped your tears and turned to look at the view one more time. Although your tears didn’t stop, Megumi didn’t want to say anything since he was fighting with his own demons but he couldn’t stand watching you cry.
“(name)?” You didn’t respond, so he took a step closer to you. “Hey,” he tried calling for you again and this time you flinched. You wiped your tears away with your forearms before turning to face him.
“I’m fine.” You beamed up at him despite how red your eyes were.
His eyes fixated on the ground in front of him. He was troubled, unable to look you in the face. “It’s not the end of the world.” His voice was calm.
“It still hurts.”
“I’m sorry.”
“It’s not your fault, Fushiguro.”
Yuuji was placing big smooth rocks around the fireplace that was already lit when the two of you returned. He smiled at you, “Took you two long enough.”
“Yeah, it was prettier than I thought.” You took a blanket out from one of the bags and spread it on the ground.
“You’re okay?” Yuuji asked, raising a brow. “Your eyes are red.”
Nodding, you brushed it off with a lie, “The view made me tear up.”
He laughed and patted on your back. “Told you!”
~~~
“Todo was very interested in (name) today, huh?” Yuuji said as they were walking to their dorm.
Megumi hummed.
“I mean, she’s kinda cute, I’m not sure.” He laughed and then stopped in front of his friend, blocking the way. “Actually, scratch that, she’s very cute.”
A disgusted expression settled on Megumi’s face but he shook it off instantly.
“What do you think of her?”
“She’s my friend.” Megumi sounded… conflicted.
“What’s with the pause?” Yuuji chuckled.
Megumi was trying to walk around him to get to his room so he could avoid this pointless conversation altogether but Yuuji was barely giving him any space to move around the hallway.
“I think I like her,” Yuuji stepped in front of him once again as he had just managed to walk past him, “(name) is pretty and I like her.”
“Do you like her only because she’s pretty?” Megumi’s anger was starting to turn towards his friend even though he wasn’t the reason for his anger. “What do you like about her exactly?”
For a while, Yuuji couldn’t speak. His brows furrowed in anger because he didn’t know what to say.
“I think we both know the truth now.” Megumi looked down at Yuuji, sending him a warning glare.
The color drained from Yuuji’s face but he tried not to show his shock on his face.
They glared at each other for a moment before Megumi let out a sigh. “But, you know what Itadori?” He didn’t wait for an answer. “I believe she deserves someone better than you.” He walked past his friend and into his room, leaving Yuuji behind, alone with his thoughts.
As soon as he closed the door, he collapsed on the floor with his hands covering his ears.
This wasn’t supposed to happen.
Why? Why? WHY?
~~~
Neither of you confessed to each other in the passing years.
Megumi made sure of it.
~~~
“Ahh, I’m jealous! You two already kissed?” Yuuji kept whining, hitting his head on the table. “What was it like? Did she squirm a lot? What did she taste like?”
Inumaki flushed red and shook his head, refusing to give him an answer.
“I never thought Inumaki would be the first one between all of us to get a girlfriend,” Panda commented, taking a bite from one of the small rice cakes before he mumbled under his breath. "Especially her."
“You talk as if you were gonna get one,” Yuuji responded.
“That hurt!” Panda held his chest, pretending to be in pain.
“To be honest, I always thought Fushiguro would be first.”
It became silent when Yuuji said that. Everyone was staring at him now.
“What?”
“You’re single, right?” Panda asked.
Megumi rolled his eyes. “Why are you asking?”
“You guys are next to graduate, Fushiguro! Find yourself a girl before sorcerer work starts building up!” Panda let out a noise closer to a groan and turned to Yuuji. “What about you?”
“Unfortunately, I’m single!”
“No, not that! Do you have anyone you like?” For some reason, they were yelling at each other now.
But that wasn’t the yelling that made Megumi almost drop his glass, it was the question.
No.
Don’t answer.
They will encourage you.
Unaware of all the things running through Megumi’s head, Yuuji’s cheeks blushed. “I... do.”
Panda grinned, “Who is it?”
Shut up.
Don’t say it.
Megumi watched Yuuji’s lips move in terror as he said a name he was familiar with. “Jennifer Lawrence.”
Letting out a breath he didn’t know he was holding, the tension on Megumi’s shoulders eased while everyone else was laughing.
He had to make a move before it was too late.
~~~
When they started running out of necessities in the dorms, it was usually two of the seniors who went to restock them. Since you were all seniors now, it had become your duty which none of you looked forward to.
“We’ll just play rock paper scissors,” Nobara said. “It’ll be fair.”
Yuuji frowned, “I haven’t won a single time playing this.”
“Well, that means Fushiguro will have his Saturday free, unlike you, Yuuji.” You cracked your fingers. “I won’t lose, I need to catch up with my show today.”
“Let’s get this over with,” Megumi sighed.
“I always go with rock,” Nobara said with a grin. You were smarter than to fall for her trick, you knew she was going for a scissor, you were going to pick rock!
All four of you stood together and shouted rock paper scissors in unison. Except for Megumi.
The result was as expected.
While Nobara and Yuuji had gone with paper, both you and Megumi had gone for rock.
Nobara yelled in excitement and turned to Yuuji, the two high-fived and cheered as you stared at your hand.
“I can’t believe it worked!” Yuuji laughed.
“Fushiguro is a lot dumber than I thought! He actually fell for it!”
“I didn’t fall for anything. I always pick rock first.” Megumi noticed how distraught you looked over losing and slapped your fist that was still hovering in the air, “Come on, let’s go before it’s too late. We can come back early if we hurry.”
You nodded reluctantly and then pointed at Nobara threateningly. “Don’t watch the show without me.”
“Yeah, yeah,” she brushed it off with a wave of her hand.
Megumi realized the two of you were going to keep on bickering, decidedly, he put a hand on your shoulder to lead you out of the common room of the dorm.
After getting ready, you met up outside the campus. While you wanted to take the bus because it would be less crowded, Megumi insisted on taking the subway train which would be a lot faster despite being extremely crowded on the weekends.
In the end, you relented without knowing his true intentions.
The train was packed, even more than normal. Only then you remembered about Takada-chan’s concert downtown. Ugh, this was truly the worst. There wasn’t any place to hold onto and you were squished against Megumi’s body to the point of his phone in his pants poking your thigh.
The sudden turn of the train made you lose your balance and you held onto your friend. “Sorry,” you mumbled.
“It’s fine,” he said, not looking at you. “Hold onto me and stay close, otherwise you might disturb someone.”
Since he was tall enough to hold onto one of the bars above your head, he was able to hold his balance but somehow his body still managed to move against yours.
“Okay,” you murmured, gripping to his jacket and moving closer to him. “How long left?” You didn’t have the courage to complain about his phone poking you against your thigh but if you moved a little to your left, you could avoid it.
“Five minutes or less.” His voice broke into a sigh when you moved against what you thought was his phone. He was glad you moved away, now, you wouldn’t be able to notice the damp spot.
Getting off the train, Megumi quickly excused himself to go to the restroom. Taking the opportunity, you took out your phone to check out the list you had to buy one more time.
You were buying the necessities for yourself and Nobara while Megumi was going to buy the things the boys needed. It was a rule that helped both parties, boys didn’t know the difference between adult diapers and menstrual pads at the same time girls didn’t understand why boys couldn’t use fragranced hand lotions.
In the bathroom stall, Megumi wiped the inside of his pants and underwear as much as he could but the stickiness was there to stay. He put a paper towel perfectly lined up between his skin and the sticky fabric to spare himself from the discomfort. He had made a good choice to wear black pants today.
“Come on,” you whined as soon as he left the restroom and grabbed his arm. “We have to hurry to the mall.”
“Mall? I thought we were going to the store around the corner.”
“Nobara wants us to buy her skincare.” You showed him the text you had gotten from her and started pulling him towards the exit. “It’ll be fun anyway.”
Megumi let you drag him wherever you wanted, only focusing on how warm your touch was.
The loud chatter of the crowd, bright colors, children laughing, warm weather, and the smell of the delicious food.
“This sure takes me back.” You smiled brightly. “Malls are exciting. It’s like being a kid again.”
Although it was still a little early there were already quite a number of people in the mall.
“It’s too crowded,” Megumi pointed out.
“It’s because of Takada-chan’s concert downtown,” you said, with a quirky tone as you exited the drugstore. “I bet Todo’s there.” There was a pause before you beamed up at him. “Let’s go watch it together, they’re probably still selling tickets!”
He averted his gaze to hide his blushing face from you. “Didn’t you wanna go back to watch your show?”
You hummed. “Well, if we split up and bought everything we needed and met up back here… If we still had time, we could watch the end of her show!”
Megumi wasn’t a fan of that said idol but he was a fan of the two of you being pressed against in a small room as you jumped excitedly, perhaps you would even dance, moving your hips, and then he could get better friction than on the train and maybe-
“Hey!” You were snapping a finger in front of his face repeatedly, “What do you say?”
“O-okay?”
“Perfect!” You checked the time on your phone and looked around. “I already bought Nobara’s skincare so I don’t have much left to buy. I’ll meet you here.”
He didn’t even get to say something before you walked away. Thankfully, his list wasn’t as complicated as yours, it took him less than twenty minutes to buy everything and even had time to try out some of the samples being given out.
While he was looking down from the third floor, he could see you run from store to store, gathering all of the not-so-necessary stuff. His lips curled up to a smile and his phone buzzed.
It was a text from Yuuji, telling him to buy a new charger for his phone that he was going to pay for later.
Megumi lied and told him that there weren’t any phone chargers in the store.
Yuuji’s reply made his brows furrow.
[New Message]
Itadori: (name) called me n said u were in the mall dont lieeeeee to meeee  ):<  btw the concert is canceled cuz of heavy rain so i cant come sorry ); anywayy u should hurry home and buy an umbrella!!
So, you didn’t actually want to go and see the concert together with Megumi. Other than that… you called Yuuji… Why? You never called Megumi, you didn’t even text him.
His hands started shaking as the thought of you still being in love with Yuuji dawned on him.
He had been doing everything and anything to keep you guys away from each other. Purposely losing to be with you, making sure Yuuji was busy on the weekends so you could only spend time with Nobara.
What if you started going out with him?
What if you were already going out with him?
Megumi returned to the meeting point, you were already waiting for him. He tried to listen to your complaints about how Nobara was constantly adding new stuff to the list and how it took longer for you to buy everything or how heavy your backpack was but his mind was a whirlwind of thoughts. It was hard for him to hold a conversation when he was unable to comprehend why you were acting the way you were.
In front of the place Takada-chan was supposed to do her show, it was crowded but something was off.
“Why are people leaving already?”
With your remark, he noticed the majority of people walking back the path that was leading to the exit.
After a sigh, he spoke. “It’s canceled. Apparently, there’s a risk of heavy rain.”
“The weather reports never mentioned that,” you pouted and paused momentarily. “Wait… you knew about it?”
“There,” Megumi let out a deep breath, pointing at a sign saying that the place was closed due to the weather.
“Oh.” You looked away from him, mumbling an apology.
“We should hurry up to the station, it looks like it’s going to rain soon.” Megumi turned to you. “Come on.”
The two of you started walking back to the station but as crowded as the station was there was no way you could hop on any of the trains leaving right now. So, you took the bus with the disadvantage of having to walk to the campus once you got off.
“It’s gonna rain,” you whined, stopping to walk.
“Don’t fall back,” Megumi said, offering you a hand. “We’ll walk through the park, it’s a shortcut.”
You took his hand and continued walking in stifling silence until a peal of thunder was heard, loud and long.
Your grip on his hand tightened.
The downpour came after the loud noise almost instantly, it was heavy and rapid.
Megumi cursed and you both started running towards a tree. You still had a long way to go but the large tree would be a perfect shelter from the heavy rain thanks to its size.
By the time you arrived under the tree, both of your clothes were soaked by the rain.
“It’s cold,” you whined and wrapped your arms around yourself. “A sudden downpour is just too much!”
“They say the weather during spring changes rapidly.” Megumi took his jacket off. “This is a problem. I hadn’t brought any rain gear.”
“Nobody did!” you laughed, “The weather report never mentioned once about it raining today!”
He didn’t say anything and turned around on his heels. “Now, what?” He was talking to himself. “We should call someone to get us.” Megumi turned around to look at you. He paused, you were soaking wet. Your clothes were sticking to your skin and your hair was messy.
What’s with that appearance?
“I’m going to call Kugisaki and tell her where we are. She can come here with umbrellas so we can leave.” Megumi turned back around and patted on his jacket’s pockets to find his phone. Once he found it, he called her.
Kugisaki said she would be there as soon as she could but Megumi knew it would take a minimum of half an hour for her to even step out of the campus. That’s why he chose to call her.
“What did she say?” you asked when he hung up.
“She’ll be here but it might take a while.”
You sneezed, rubbing your nose gently. “We’re both going to catch a cold by the time she comes to get us. You should’ve called Yuuji.”
“You can’t even stop talking about him when you’re with me." His eyes widened after he said it, he had apparently said it unbidden.
“What?”
“Nothing.” He tried to move around you but stopped when you quickly laid a hand against his chest.
He couldn’t help shuddering at the contact. He had been trying to hold back all day but now that he had you here, alone with him. All he wanted to do was to press you against the tree, get in between your legs and-
“Are you alright, Megumi?” You looked concerned, completely unaware of his thoughts.
“I’m,” he started, trying to make his tone rational, serious. Stoic, like normal, as always. “I’m f-fine.”
He failed.
You frowned. “Are you sure?” Your hand pressed a little harder on his chest. “Your heart is beating really fast.”
Megumi pinched his eyes shut, taking a slow breath through his mouth. He was focusing on his own control. “Being stuck together like this… I can’t help being conscious of it.” His face was red as he admitted this. “I can’t really keep myself from focusing on you.”
“T-that’s kinda weird to say to a friend.” You took your trembling hand away from his chest, unable to say anything else.
He took a deep breath in and out before speaking. “I don’t see you as a friend.” His voice was devoid of any emotion. He was silent for a while, thinking. His eyes were serious, gazing down at you with desperation. “You’re beautiful,” he finally said. “I’ve liked you since we first met.”
“I… I like someone else, you know that… Fushiguro.”
He will die sooner or later.
He wanted to say it but resisted the urge.
“He doesn’t like you,” he said, his voice threatening to break. “Am I not good enough?”
You froze, seeing Megumi this vulnerable in front of you was too much. He wasn’t like this, he didn’t let his guard down in front of anyone. Yet-
“I just… I know we aren’t meant to be but I like him. It’s hard to give up on the one you like.”
“What about me?” he asked, “What about my feelings?”
At that moment, you got a glimpse of how much Megumi was hurting. Hurting and hurting. You had been acting selfishly, you had even told him your feelings about Yuuji all those years ago. If it weren’t for his warning, you would’ve been in his place right now. Being rejected by the person you liked.
Yuuji would have been gentler, he would have used all the words he knew that wouldn’t hurt you as he told you how he liked Nobara.
You weren’t all that considerate. This was all your fault.
“I-I will try to give up on him and give you an answer.”
“You need to be honest with yourself. How much more time do you need until you realize that he’ll never love you like me?”
His willpower and composure vanished. Everything that was holding him back, whether it be his thoughts or the consequences that might come after he acted without thinking was pushed back to the furthest back on his mind.
All he could think about was you.
“W-wait.”
“I can’t wait any longer.”
You watched him get closer to your face but didn’t move away from shock. Immediately, you closed your eyes shut. Although you couldn’t see him kissing you, the pressure of his lips was more than enough to let you know. Your pulse went berserk as his rough lips pressed against yours, eager and hard. He was firm, a little too forceful.
He placed his hands on your waist, feeling you up while his tongue pressed into your mouth, frenziedly trying to savor your taste.
A sound closer to a moan escaped you when he bit down on your bottom lip before leaning down and kissing your neck, forcing another lewd sound to leave your soft lips. He took a second to press a light kiss against your neck and pressed his hips against you experimentally. Slowly, just testing the waters, he grinded himself against you more firmly and let out a ragged sigh. Though he had already been hard, you felt him growing harder by the second.
“(name),” he whispered, full of passion. “Say my name.”
“Fushiguro-”
“Megumi,” he corrected. His skin was burning up and it felt like he was under direct sunlight, which given the weather, might have been far off. “Say my name.”
“Megumi.”
He pressed his forehead against yours. You were his and nobody else could touch you. He had to make sure of it.
“I like you,” Megumi uttered, he let out a soft sigh, letting his hand reach up to touch your face. He wanted to feel your skin, how soft it was but he stopped himself mid-way when he realized you had been crying.
Ah, so this was a failure.
He should have waited.
However before he could get any more anxious over anything, you got on your tiptoes and then your lips pressed against his.
You tasted sweet, your lips were soft and welcoming, urging him to do whatever he wanted to you, giving him your answer regarding his feelings.
His lips moved slowly against yours and his hands settled, hesitantly on your hips again.
A soft, wanton noise escaped you.
Megumi tucked a strand of your hair behind your ear with his shaking hand as your lips danced in harmony and he tugged you closer. He couldn’t stop himself from pulling you closer and closer. You pressed your chest flush onto him, wrapping your arms around his neck.
He could smell your sweet scent, that scent he had been dying to know what it smelled like in person rather than your dirty laundry. He grinded into you frantically, making you moan into his mouth and allow him to snake his tongue further down your throat.
Your hips bucked against him, you were lost in lust to care about being in public. His eyes widened as another moan forced its way out of your throat. You tugged at his hair, pulling him closer to yourself desperately.
His face was flushed completely red as you kept letting out cute, sweet noises for him. He had to give himself a minute longer, cherishing the moment before withdrawing himself, unable to stop the grin that crawled up his face while a long strand of drool dripped from his lips and another small strand of drool connecting your lips together broke apart.
A soft gasp emerged from your lips as you looked at him dreamily. You were both blushing furiously, lips completely swollen and wet from the kiss and you couldn’t stop smiling at each other.
“You’re finally mine.” He pressed his forehead against yours, his hand on your cheek rubbed circles on the skin with his thumb. You stayed quiet, letting your arms around him stay there as both of you cherished the small moment of silence together.
“Ahem.”
Both of your smiles disappeared and the two of you let go of each other as if you were burned.
There stood Yuuji, holding his umbrella and another spare umbrella. “Kugisaki told me to bring you an umbrella,” His cheeks were flushed bright red because of embarrassment. “I didn’t want to interfere with you two.”
“Itadori!” Megumi took a step forward, his tone was frustrated. “This!-” He stopped, what was this? What was he going to say? Yuuji had most certainly seen you kiss or maybe more. Megumi had no idea of how long his friend stood there and watched you for.
“Even you should be able to fool around with a girl, Fushiguro!” Yuuji forced a laugh and glanced at you. “Are you two, well… going out?”
You glanced at Megumi, he was already looking at you.
His words from earlier came back to your mind. You had to move on, this was for the best.
“Kinda,” you answered.
“Oh, that explains a lot.” Yuuji’s stare found Megumi but then he quickly looked away.
There was a moment of silence.
“Could we just go home now?” you asked, realizing nobody was going to move unless you said something.
“That’s why I am here,” Yuuji beckoned the two of you to follow him.
You followed him to the campus. The two of you shared an umbrella together in silence and once you arrived at the entrance, Megumi hesitantly grabbed your hand, intertwining his fingers with yours.
“I’ll make you happy.”
It was a promise.
~~~
Passing days were normal, nothing out of ordinary.
You started dating Megumi and forgot about Yuuji.
“Short hair would look better on you,” Yuuji said, overhearing your conversation with Nobara.
“Nooo, her hair is fine as it is!” Nobara argued, walking over to the couch to hit Yuuji’s head. “You just like girls with short hair.”
While the two argued about it, Megumi slowly lifted his gaze up from the book he was reading to watch you blush.
~~~
“Don’t do that,” you whispered, trying to hold back your moan. “Nobara will hear.”
“It makes you feel good.” Megumi pushed his fingers inside your slick heat, lips pressing on your clit, “She knows we’re dating.”
“I-it’s embarrassing,” you stuttered.
“Is it embarrassing to date me?” He pulled back his lips but continued scissoring his fingers in and out of you.
“Noo,” you stretched the word out, biting back a moan. “Y-you know what I mean.”
“Hmm?” He lolled his tongue out and licked between your folds slow enough to make you squirm.
Your hands went to grab his hair out of instinct, trying to pull him back from your pussy. “M-Megumi, please… It’s embarrassing if she hears me do that sorta noise...”
Your words didn’t match your tone. He ignored your empty pleads and lapped at your cunt, his hands pressing on your inner thighs to keep them in place.
Instantly, you arched your back. Megumi’s tongue was hot against your sensitive pussy. It was nothing like when you touched yourself, it made your toes curl in pleasure no matter what he did.
His lips curled up into a smile when a moan escaped you, it was loud enough for Nobara in the next room to hear. He knew she wouldn’t stay quiet about it, running her mouth and telling Yuuji about how loud you were last night.
He sucked on your clit, drawing small circles over the delicate nub with his tongue and using the entire strength of his arm to fuck you with his digits. Your legs shook as your thighs pressed on between each side of his head, you were pulling his hair and moaning but Megumi didn’t stop until the pleasure building in your gut spread and took over all of your senses.
When your high came, it was euphoric, left you panting and exhausted.
Megumi threw himself next to you on your bed, one hand wrapped around his cock, “Turn to your side,” he whispered. Complying, you sluggishly turned to your side, your back against his chest.
Using his hand, he lifted your leg and guided his cock between your thighs. He let your leg fall back to instead use the same hand to cup your naked breast. “Press your thighs together.”
You followed his instructions with a hum. As soon as he felt the supple flesh of your thighs around his cock, he started moving his hips. Although he would have wanted to be inside you right now, he had time. He wanted to take all of your firsts one by one like collecting stamps and make sure to treasure each single first.
His lips pressed against your neck, he groaned softly as he came between your thighs. Turning around, you kissed him sloppily before burying your face on his neck.
It took him a while to catch his breath, he carded his fingers through your hair. “I like it like this.” He pressed a kiss against your hair.
~~~
The next day, Megumi was in the common room with Yuuji when you came back from hanging out with Nobara downtown.
He heard you mumbling and your girlfriend angrily scolding you through the halls.
“It’s definitely lipstick,” Yuuji said.
“Last time was lipstick, it’s probably because they bought the same dress or something.” Megumi shook his head with a faint smile on his lips, he was looking forward to listening to you complain about your day as you cuddled on his bed as usual.
“Wanna bet over it?” Yuuji smirked. “The loser has to clean the toilets.”
“It’s gonna be you.”
“I took my eyes off of you for one second!” Nobara was laughing but her tone was still upset as she entered the common room. “I can’t believe you!”
The boys were waiting for the reveal if it was a lipstick or a clothing item you two were fighting over but as soon as you walked in, they realized it was none of them.
“I think it looks good,” you mumbled, hesitantly moving your hand up to feel your haircut. “It was time for a change.”
The smile Megumi had on his face dropped, his eyes were on Yuuji who was smiling. “I think it looks gorgeous,” he complimented. It was a fairly innocent compliment but Megumi thought of it as something else.
“Thanks,” you said, cheeks blushing slightly. You walked over to your boyfriend, twirling around excitedly, “What do you think?”
“It’s shorter.” Megumi couldn’t find the words to describe how jealous he was but he made sure to not show it on his face. “Cute.”
“Aww, thank you!” You leaned and took his hand, pulling him up to his feet. “Now, help me carry the stuff I bought back to my room.”
You dragged him to the entrance hall, omitting the way he was frowning. He grabbed your shopping bags and followed you into your room without saying anything.
“I bought you something as well, it’s an early graduation gift!” You crouched next to the bags as soon as he put them down to look for his present. “I heard you’re going to have an internship in Kyoto and I also applied there so we can go there together.”
“Why did you cut your hair?”
Your shoulders tensed. “What?”
“Are you still in love with him?” Megumi’s tone was upset, he couldn’t hide it. “Is that it?”
Standing up, you turned to face him. “It’s just hair… I wanted to cut it so I did.”
“Don’t lie to me.”
“I’m not lying, Megumi. I don’t like him anymore. You’re making a big-”
He pushed you towards your bed, your body slammed against the soft sheets and a surprised yelp left your lips but Megumi’s lips stifled the sound. He was being too rough, his lips were moving as if to devour you whole but it didn’t stop you from wrapping your arms around his neck and kissing him back.
His hand went to pull down his sweatpants. Ahh, sweatpants, the great invention of mankind, saving him from the hassle of unbuckling a belt and undoing the zipper to free his aching cock.
“Wait,” you said into the kiss but he shut you up with his lips, his free hand going under your skirt to pull your panties to the side. Using the same hand, he grabbed the back of your knee to make room for himself between your legs.
Megumi broke the kiss slowly so he could gaze down at you. “You’re mine.”
Wanting to assure him, you nodded rapidly.
“Mine.”
“Yours.”
“You’re in love with me.” He positioned himself between your thighs and rubbed the tip of his cock across your slit.
You made a small noise to confirm.
Megumi pushed himself inside you. The feeling of your walls stretching and a sudden pain made a yelp left your lips. He pulled his hips back to confirm if he was your first or not, a sickening smile spread across his face when he saw the proof. Thrusting back inside, he made sure to push himself deep inside your cunt until you could feel the heat and shape of his cock.
As he was trying to find a pace, he hit a spot that made you squirm. With a smug smile, he angled his hips just right to find your sweet spot once again to turn your mind into mush.
With each thrust of his hips stroking your sweet spot, you felt... overwhelmed, that was the only word that could describe how you felt.
Eventually, his steady pace slackened and he planted his hands on each side of your head to start humping you like a desperate dog in heat.
Your toes curled and the pain from your hymen being torn became a faint memory. All you could feel was Megumi’s desperation.
The desperation he felt and his inexperience combining was too much. He put all of that frenzy into his hips. Your bed frame started banging on the wall from the force he put behind each thrust.
Mind going completely numb, your eyes rolled up from pleasure, hips moving to meet Megumi’s brutal thrusts. He growled when your gummy walls clenched around his cock, he stopped moving for a moment as his hands hastily went to the back of your knees to push them towards your chest. Mounting you completely, he started fucking you almost frantically.
In this position his cock went deeper and stroked the gummy flesh of your walls enticingly.
The tip of his cock pressed against your cervix, causing your body to start spasming, legs shaking and mouth drooling. “M-M-Megumi-”
Megumi was too busy chasing after his own release and he continued fucking you through your orgasm. He put his entire weight behind his thrusts, growling each time his balls slapped against your ass.
He leaned forward and buried his face in your neck, his lips parted and his teeth sank on the sensitive skin. Squirming, you moaned as you wrapped your arms around his neck to keep him there.
Your pussy clenched around him one last time, squeezing his cock to milk it dry. He managed to steal a few more thrusts before his cock twitched inside your belly. His thick seed filled your womb until it overflowed.
Continuing to fuck his seed deep inside you, Megumi barely managed to pull himself back. He stopped biting your neck, withdrawing himself to stare at how deep he had bitten you. The pain of being bitten wasn’t there or at least it wasn’t there for this moment, you couldn’t feel anything but his cum slowly seeping out from your hole. The warmth in your tummy was leaving your body and spilling onto your sheets instead.
“You’re so cute when you’re jealous,” you giggled, an eerie smile on your lips. “So easy to provoke.”
Thus Megumi became aware of something. You weren’t dumb, you were always calculating whenever you spoke to him, always watching and always doing things that would spur him on.
You didn’t actually belong to him.
He belonged to you.
The Mark
I wrote a soulamte au just becasue i had to, to get it out of my mind. and im posting it without putting too much work into it because i doubt ill work on it more since I always have so much i want to do. enjoy my SoulmateAU Tendou fic.
Tendou Satori x reader
The Soulmate au is this;  when you first touch your soulmate it leaves a mark, a birthmark will bloom under the skin in the shape of the touch within 24 hours max.
“Oh!” You laugh in shock as a redheaded boy walks into you, pushing you into your locker door and effectively closing it with a bang, he reaches out grabbing your shoulder to steady you “I’m so sorry! I wasn’t looking!” You recognize him as the boy on the volleyball team, the smart, goofy, one, the one you happen to be crushing hard for.  Your hand reaches out, grabbing his ribs to keep your balance,  “no worries” you chuckle and smile at him, looking into his red eyes. It was like you both were in your own world for a few seconds, smiling like fools, until the other boy he was with, who you recognized as Ushijima, called his name “Tendou..?” He shakes his head “right!” Tendou says enthusiastically and nods at him before turning back to you “sorry…again” he laughs as he takes off running after Ushijima who walked away without him. You watch him as he goes, amused with the whole interaction. He turns to look back at you with a goofy smile and bumps into the back of Ushijima. You laugh at him and he laughs as Ushijima just shakes his head, both of them disappearing into the gym.
In the middle of practice when the team takes a water break, Tendou is right back next to Ushijima asking about you “Do you know her?” Tendou leans in close to Ushijima, patiently waiting for a response “that’s y/f/n y/l/n. She’s the captain of the girls volleyball team” “she’s cuuuute Ushijima” Ushijima just shrugs and takes a long drink. “So she’s on the volleyball team, that means she’s just next door…” Ushijima knew he was up to something but didn’t feel the need to stop him. Tendou runs to the edge of the thick blue divider in the giant gym, peaking around the corner and looking around at the circle of girls until he spots you, you were on the right of the circle, passing the ball around between you all as a way to stay warm while on a break.
“So” you say as you use your fingertips to pass the ball up to another girl, “what do you think of Tendou..?” You ask and they chuckle “the guess monster?” Your vice captain/ best friend asks and another girl says quietly “I think he’s scary” you frown “I think… I don’t even know him! But I want to” you smile and your best friend laughs “you like him!?” she teases a little too loud, her words making Tendou’s ears turn red.  You pass the ball aiming for her head, with just a little too much force, she just catches the ball and laughs harder. you sigh and raise your arms in the air “I can’t help it! He ran into me today on accident. He’s so adorable and he’s goofy and he sings those silly songs and it makes my heart happy. I don’t know him and I don’t know how to talk to him. I get so nervous! what if he has a soulmate already”  You shake your head and decide to get back to practice “let’s work on receives and spikes” the circle splits and your head turns as you change positions, catching the fluff of red hair disappearing around the corner of the divide. Your stomach flips, ‘I hope he didn’t hear me!’ you think to yourself.
you try to focus and just finish your practice but you can’t stop thinking about him eavesdropping on you saying you like him, your girls kept teasing you for your perma-blushing.
That night you didn't look in the mirror after your shower, you just got dressed, not noticing the already blooming dark mark on your skin, a thumb across your collarbone and three fingers on the top of your shoulder.
The next morning when you go to your locker you find him leaning up against it, looking for you. “Hey!” he says as you approach, “hey” you respond with a chuckle “whats up?” you ask and he smiles “I wanted to talk to you” you open your locker and take out a book, shoving it in your backpack, “oh yeah? About what?” you ask  and he chuckles, turning his body to lean against the lockers “have lunch with me today” he says and you laugh “i can’t, i have volleyball stuff during lunch. Walk me home?” you suggest and he nods “deal” he says and you chuckle again. The bell rings and you close your locker “see you later, Tendou” you smile sweetly before turning and walking down the hall to your classroom.
“Fancy seeing you here” he says as you walk through the gym doors “waiting for me huh? How sweet” you smile when you make eye contact with the boy leaning against the wall, “what can i say?” he shrugs “I’m a sweet guy” you laugh “I hope I get to see more of that then” he smiles wide ''y/n! “ Your coach yells and you raise your hand signalling you heard her, your shirt moves as your arm does, showing a little of your mark on your collarbone, catching his eye and making his heart race “You walking me home still?” you ask as you start to back away from him “you know it!” he responds and you smile and nod “good. See you later then” you wink at him, grinning at his blush, then turn, running off to your side of the gym.
After his practice he’s walking slowly to the locker room, staring at himself in the locker room mirror for five minutes, trying to convince himself to lift his shirt. He can feel the touch of your hand on his ribs from the day before, an electric pressure against his ribs. He knows it's in his head from thinking about it for the last hour or so but he’s so nervous. He never thought he’d get his soulmate mark and he was okay with that, he didn't want someone to be forced to be with him, everyone usually thought he was scary. He took a shaky breath and slowly grabbed the hem of his shirt, raising it over his head with his eyes closed. Letting his breath out slowly before slowly opening one of his eyes and peaking.his eyes both open wide as he stares and his heart skipped when he saw the small mark across his ribs. The perfect mark of where your hand had touched him. A grin broke out on his face and as much as he was terrified you’d be sad that your soulmate was him, he was elated that you were his. His heart beat double time, his stomach twisted in a knot of butterflies as laughter bubbles from his chest. “Ushijima..” he laughs “USHIJIMA!” he yells, taking off towards the showers to show his best friend his soulmate mark.
“See you guys in the morning, don’t forget to bring your forms for training camp” you say to your team as you exit the locker rooms, a few of them wiggling their eyebrows as they notice Tendou waiting for you with the biggest grin. “See you laterrr captain!” they yell, laughing as they walk in a different direction. You shake your head before turning to greet the excited boy “How was practice?” he asks and you smile “it was good, lots of improvement. How about yours?” you stand in the hallway, feeling a little awkward when he doesn’t go to leave. “Mine was good as well, you should come to one of our games and see me play” he says and you chuckle “Tendou I go to all the volleyball games already” his eyes widen “you do?!” you nod “yeah. I’m friends with all the managers from the teams in our prefecture so we usually meet up and hang out, plus watching volleyball helps me know how i can improve.” he grins “so you’ll be at our game this saturday?” you laugh “yep! I'll be there”  he nods and puts his hands behind his head “good! I’ll make sure to play my best for you then” you shake your head with a smile and nudge him with your elbow “I look forward to seeing you play, Tendou” you turn to walk away and he hesitates”wait!” he yells and then laughs a little awkwardly at his outburst “I need to show you something” his voice was quiet as he took your hand and gently pulled you into the now empty gym with him.
You wondered why he was so nervous all of a sudden (you didn't shower at school, didn't like carrying heavy shampoo bottles, so you still don’t know about the mark) “What’s up Tendou?” you ask, concern in your voice.  He clears his throat and opens his mouth to say something but stops himself, shaking his head softly. “Just, look.” he says and slowly raise his shirt, “wait what are -?” you fall silent when the palm print shows. You point at it, open your mouth, look into his eyes, close your mouth again. You suck in a breath and then quickly drop your backpack, pull your hoodie over your head as quick as possible, fumbling when it gets stuck on your pony, ripping it off your head in a rush and blushing with his chuckle at you.
You shove the shoulder of your shirt down and gasp at the print on your shoulder. You point at your mark, then slowly point at his, your voice shaking when you whisper  “yesterday..?” and he nods, his palms are sweaty so he wipes his empty palm on his jeans, the only holding up his shirt just tightens into a fist, he's so worried that you’ll be sad and think he’s the worst one to get stuck with. Expecting an “oh no” to come out of your mouth next. He closes his eyes and braces himself for the rejection, still holding his shirt up but he doesn't realize.
He gasps and his eyes flick open when he feels your soft hand rest on his ribs over the mark. “you’re my..soulmate” you whisper, a small wistful smile on your lips as your fingers brush across the mark as your thumb brushes across your own. He places his fingers gently over your mark and you look up into his gorgeous red eyes, your smile growing when you see the sweet look in his eyes. “Tendou, how do you feel about this?” you brush the backs of your fingers against the mark on his ribs before gently taking his shirt from his tight fist, letting his shirt down, never taking your eyes from his.
“I..” he clears his throat, deciding to be honest, you were his soulmate after all, “I don't want you to be disappointed that your soulmate is me.. is a.. is a monster” the quick burst of a laugh that comes from your lips echoes throughout the gym and he furrows his brows, your close all distance between you, feeling confident in touching him since you know you are soulmates “Tendou, no” you say softly as you cup his face in your hands, your thumbs softly brushing his cheek bones “never in a million years could I ever,” you lean in a little closer and drop your voice “and i mean never ever,” the corners of his lips start to turn up into a smile, “think you are a monster” you smile warmly up at him, he’s blushing now and his smile is genuine, you test out calling him his real name “Satori” his eyes widen and his face flushes darker. You chuckle and move your hands to his neck “i know people call you the guess monster, they call you scary, but I need you to know that I have NEVER thought of you that way or even agreed with any of it.” his eyes filled with tears and he scrunched them shut, a few of them rolling down his cheeks. He already knew he would love you so easily, he would give you anything. You stand on your tip toes and kiss his cheeks, kissing away his tears. His heart practically stops then, such a sweet action but it made him feel so loved already.
“Are you.. Are you happy that I’m your soulmate?” you ask shyly, your eyebrows furrowed, you're feeling a little nervous now. His eyes pop open and his arms fly out, wrapping around your waist and holding you to him tight “You have no idea how truly e l a t e d I am. I am so happy, y/f/n” he says quickly, his eyes looking into yours, showing how concerned he was that you would think any different. You giggle then, making him sigh softly and smile, tucking your hair behind your ear, crazy from when you took your hoodie off. You blush “oh i’m so embarrassed” you reach up to fix it and he laughs shaking his head, “let me” his voice is soft and it halts your actions.
He takes off your pony, slipping it on his wrist, and runs his fingers gently through your hair, smoothing it down and enjoying the soft feel of it in his fingers. “There” he places his hands on your neck, softly running his fingers across your skin “thank you” your voice is barely a whisper and you lick your lips, swallowing hard. His hair is still damp from his shower and his hands on your neck are warm, your run your hands down his chest and leave them there. You admire his eyes and the slope of his sharp nose and jaw. “You're beautiful” you whisper and then blush a deep red out of embarrassment “sorry i-” he laughs “no. don't be sorry. I'm so glad you think that. You are the most gorgeous person I've ever seen, i feel so lucky” he cocks his head and cups your cheek. Your body feels like it's buzzing, like everything is finally in place and there is no way other than up. You realize that life is still hard but you never expected to meet your soulmate so young. “Do you want to tell people?” you ask and he laughs “there is NO WAY i could hide my soulmate and pretend otherwise” you beam up at him “i'm glad you feel that way because i want to tell everyone” you gush and he nods “i already told my team” he says with a smile and you laugh, he was so adorable, it made your soul happy.  “That's so cute” you say softly and he blushes “should we tell our parents?” you whisper and bring your hand to your chin, considering the options.
His laugh makes you smile “I already texted my mom” he says and you laugh with him “perfect. Okay. Oh my mom is going to be mad if i'm late home though!” you realize you're still standing in the gym at school and you back away from him, picking up and putting back on your hoodie and throwing your backpack back on. You reach your hand out to him “Still walking me home?” you ask and he nods lacing your fingers together with his “would you mind if i started doing it every day?” he asks and you shake your head “I would LOVE it if you did” you reassure him and he nods “good” he says with a chuckle. At the door of the gym you stall though, realizing you forgot to do something “wait” he turns back “what’s up?” he asks and cocks his head as he looks into your eyes “can I..” you chuckle and look down at your entwined fingers “can I kiss you?” you ask and a grin spreads across his lips before he cups you cheek and turns your face towards him “yes please” he whispers and leans down, connecting your lips in a sweet first kiss, soft and warm with the perfect amount of pressure. Your breath leaves your lungs and your heart beats hard against your rib cage. When he pulls back you both have matching blushing cheeks. “Yeah we are definitely going to be doing that a lot more” you chuckle and then squeeze his hand, slipping out the gym and heading home with him, so excited to get to know him, your soulmate.
Toni groans and throws another top on the growing pile of shirts that she has deemed unwearable. You had seen nothing wrong with it, a flowing pink blouse with cream polka dots. To her, however, it was too girly. You had scoffed at that. There's nothing wrong with femininity, she of all people should understand that. Maybe if she had wanted something that screams masculinity she should have raided Sweet Pea's closet instead of yours.
The Serpents seem to think there is something wrong with being girly though, looking down on anyone who dares wear anything pink or flowery and definitely anyone who wears both at the same time. You roll your eyes at that every time. You, a teenage Serpent yourself, are perhaps the most "girly" person to have ever set foot on Southside grounds. You take pride in that, wearing your Serpent jacket over all the ballerina skirts and pretty pink bralettes that your flowery heart desires. Yes, you get glares all the time but the switchblade in the pocket of your cherry blossom backpack just begs them to start something they can't finish.
"Y/n, baby, I love you but your closet is a nightmare! Do you have nothing remotely black? Or skimpy! C'mon, you want to impress Sweet Pea don't you?" Toni's voice is teasing and your cheeks flame in embarrassment and a tinge of anger.
"I would never dress to impress," you make air quotes with your fingers and pretend to gag, hiding the unavoidable lust in your voice before you say his name, "Sweet Pea! He's a jackass who's high on some masculinity crap! I can't do that."
She smirks at you from the mirror she's applying her bright red lipstick in, "you can very much do that and I know you want to. You're telling me that you don't lay awake at night and imagine his hands, his very large hands, doing unspeakable things to you? You may be the cutest little thing we've got on the Southside but you, baby girl, want him bad. Trust me, I know. I'm your best friend."
"Yeah, well, you're wrong and even if I did want, well, all that," you blush at the thought and swallow hard, pushing down at the buzz in the pit of your stomach, "he hates me so it would never happen. Theoretically, of course!"
"Uh huh, sure," is all your pink haired best friend says before turning back to your baby blue, vintage vanity to curl her pink locks.
You cross your arms over you aqua t-shirt, feigning annoyance, "and just what is that supposed to mean, missy?"
"Just that we both know you're turned on from just hearing Sweets' name. And he doesn't hate you, I roll with the guys remember," she catches your wide, doe eyes in the mirror and shakes her head lightly, laughing softly at your blown pupils, "he wants you. Bad."
You scoff again, leaning down to tie up your white tennis shoes, "he does not. He thinks I'm weak; that I'm going to bring down the pack.”
"He feels like he needs to protect you. There is a difference," Toni stands, twirling in front of your mirror to approve her outfit for tonight.
Some of the Serpent teens are gathering at the quarry, much like they do most weekends, to hang out. Today is special, though, because it's the last weekend before summer ends and you're all forced to go back to an educational prison. You're heart races knowing that Sweet Pea will, in fact, be there tonight. He's a jerk, at least he seems like one. Every time you’ve spoken to him it's been to tell him to let you handle your own problems. Granted most of your problems have involved ghoulies trying to make you their lunch because of your cute aura and quiet voice but he's never given you an opportunity to prove yourself. No one has.
Your voice is soft, like usual, but a tad annoyed, "I don't need protection. Why does everyone assume that I do?"
"Because you're so cute we could just eat you up!" Toni leans over to pinch your cheeks and you try not to giggle because that would only prove her point, "also, that isn't what you're wearing, is it?"
"What's wrong with what I'm wearing?" You peek around her and scrutinize your outfit.
An aquamarine t-shirt that stops right before a pair of fashionably baggy, cuffed jean shorts. The same pair of pink pearl earrings that you always wear are in your ears and the white tennis shoes you just laced are on your feet. Your worn Serpent jacket hangs proudly off your shoulders, the bright red patches bold against the black leather. The cherry blossom backpack is settled on your bed, ready to be grabbed and filled with your reusable water bottle, rose perfume, matching cherry blossom wallet, and switchblade, of course. All in all, it’s the perfect outfit.
You glance up to see Toni just smiling lightly at you, "Nothing, you're right. It's perfect."
                                               *     *     *     *     *
Like usual, you and Toni take her bike to the quarry. You don't have your own bike so you ride behind her, your arms around her waist, her sugary scent blowing at you in full force, and your head thrown back, hollering into the wind. The two of you have been best friends for as long as you can remember. Nobody would have ever seen it coming. You were always playing in princess dresses and she was the pirate storming the tea party in search of cookies that were dubbed gold. You're polar opposites yet she's, perhaps, the only one who really knows how alike you are.
You arrive at the quarry laughing and cheering like maniacs, nothing out of the norm. You swing your legs over the side of her bike, hopping off gracefully and smoothing back your wind blown hair. It's dusk, the sun having just set, and there are mason jar lights sitting on the picnic tables and fairy lights strung through the trees. For such a rowdy gang, there is soft indie music floating through the air; the final touch to, dare you say, a romantic atmosphere. You couldn't be more proud.
A familiar arm is slung over your shoulders, pulling you into a playful side hug.
"Fogarty! I haven't seen you all summer," you swing yourself into a real hug, latching your arms around his neck and squeezing as he pulls you off your toes, "where have you been, Fangsy?"
He chuckles and sets you back on your feet, ruffling your hair and grabbing one of your hands to twirl you around, "hey cupcake, it's good to see you too. I've been here and there, sorry I wasn't around."
You giggle and shake your head, pulling him to sit at the practically full picnic table that Toni claimed. The table cheers when they see you, pulling you in for hugs and playing with your hair. You hear a couple voices tell you that you look cute and others telling you to come sit with them. You slide your backpack off, placing it under the table when you find an empty spot. Before you can take your seat, however, a pair of muscled arms circles your waist, pulling you onto their lap and stealing your seat for themselves.
A leather and pine scent envelopes you as the table breaks out in hooting laughter, "Sweet Pea this is my seat. As in singular. Mine."
All he does is tighten his arms deliciously around your hips, pressing down slightly on your lower stomach and making you very much aware of the intimacy of your position. You look to Toni for help but all she does is wink, turning her head to join one of the many side conversations taking place. You sit in silence for a while, as stiff as a board in Sweet Pea's lap. You aren't uncomfortable so much as nervous. You can't lie, you've been practically in love with Sweets for as long as you can remember but, until now, he has barely shown you any form of affection besides ‘saving’ your sorry butt on numerous occasions.
"Relax, baby," he mumbles into your neck for only you to hear, "it's just me."
You want to yell at him for calling you baby, you really do, but it sounds so perfect coming from his lips and his mouth on your neck is too pleasurable to push away. Instead, going against everything you stand for, you sink into his broad chest, leaning your head under his chin and pulling one of his hands into both of yours.
"Much better," his chest rumbles softly under your back.
"Pea we're supposed to hate each other, remember?" You toy with his fingers, noting their size and remembering your conversation with Toni from earlier today.
She wasn't wrong, thoughts of his hands, among other parts of him, keep you awake at night. You can feel the heat creeping up your neck.
He leans down, skimming his lips over your earlobe while he answers, "Since when? I never got that memo."
His hand moves from your hip to the waistband of your shorts, his fingers dipping in and resting on the skin under your naval. You bite back an unexpected moan at his lips and searing fingertips, leaning further into his chest and shifting your hips backward to fully press yourself against him. You let go of his hand in exchange for digging your fingernails into the picnic table. His hands are hidden, given him all the encouragement he needs to slide his now free hand up your bare thigh, drawing circles with his thumb on the inside of it.
"Sweets," your voice is raw, "what are you doing?"
"Showing you just how much I don't hate you."
His lips inconspicuously move to your neck, claiming the skin under your jaw as his own in the darkness. His hand draws further up your thigh, under the denim of your shorts and stopping at the apex of your thigh.
"Let me show you that I very much do not hate you, baby," he murmurs into your ear, the hand in the waistband of your shorts skimming over your skin in mesmerising patterns.
"Not here," you force the words pass you lips, melting into his touch.
"Then let's go," he practically pleads into your ear and it's all you can do not to wrap your legs around him right here and right now, nodding desperately as he scoops you into his arms and stands up.
You giggle loudly and, for the first time tonight, you're able to see his face. He's smiling down at you, a soft look in his molten chocolate eyes. His stare soon turns heated and he licks his lips, drawing your eyes to his mouth. Your arms tighten around his neck, pulling you flush against his chest. You turn to look at the table in time to see Toni nudge Fangs and point to the two of you, smirking at you when she catches your eye.
"Well guys," Sweet Pea addresses the table as he walks stealthily backwards, "it's been fun but we're going to head out now."
Before anyone can protest you lean up and whisper run in his ear. Before you know it he's sprinting to his motorcycle, the table of hollering Serpents shouting words of advice at your back. One that rings louder in the night is your best friend's voice screaming to "use protection". You blush and bury your head into Sweets' shoulder.
He sets you down on his bike when he reaches it, placing his hands on your hips and staring into your eyes through the darkness. The tension between you is tangible. You can hear every inhale he takes, imagining his bare chest moving over your own. In the blink of an eye you reach up and hook your arms around his neck, pulling his lips to yours. Sparks dance up your spine and his hands find your hips. Fire burns everywhere he touches you.
You break the kiss quickly, "crap Pea, my backpack! I left it under the table!"
His eyes are still closed and he finds you lips once more, pressing another kiss to you lips, "okay baby, wait here, I'll go grab it."
"No, it's okay I ca-"
"Baby, just let me go get it," he stares into your eyes, pleading with you to let him go retrieve your backpack.
"Fine."
You watch him run back towards the others. You don't realise how dark it is until your all alone and the woods around the quarry become more prominent. Every noise you hear sets you on edge. You swear you keep hearing twigs snap but it's only your imagination, right? It has to be. That or Sweet Pea is pulling a prank on you. Maybe you should have just gone to get your bag with him.
You hear another twig snap and tense up. You ball your hands into fists, readying for anything. You can fight, that puts you somewhat at ease. Toni is the only one who knows that, spare a few older Serpent women who aren't in Riverdale anymore, because they had been the ones to rough you up during your gauntlet. Yes you, the softest girl on the Southside, refused to do the dance. There were no rules prohibiting you from the gauntlet so you opted for it instead. Needless to say, you can take a hit.
"You little skank!" A voice sounds from behind you, causing you to whirl around.
In front of you stands a tall redhead with hair to her elbows. Her serpent jacket clings to her slim form, accentuating her curves in a way that makes you jealous. She wears a paint of off brand skinny jeans and a black t-shirt that's a little too tight. Her eyes are bright green and furious, glaring bloody murder at you. You have no clue who she is.
"Uhm, excuse me?" You glance behind you just to make sure she isn't talking to some else.
"You heard me, slut. Who the hell do you think you are? Sitting on my man's lap?"
The ‘slut’ thing doesn't bother you and neither does the ‘who the hell’. She doesn't know you so you refuse to take her meaningless words to heart. However, the part where she claims Sweet Pea has you seeing red.
"Amazing. Everything that you've just said is wrong." You smile innocently at her, curling your hands into fists once more behind your back.
"I'm sorry? What did you just say to me?" She takes a step towards you, her chucks cracking another stick.
"Oh, sorry, let me explain. My name is y/n, not slut,” you counter her step with one of your own, “that's who I am. Oh, and he's not your man. If he is than why is he pulling me onto his lap instead of you?” you scrunch your eyebrows and look her up and down, “Oh, wait, who are you again?"
Your sugary sweet smile turns sinister in the blink of an eye; the same amount of time it takes her to charge at you. The words ‘cat fight’ ring in your ears as you dodge a poorly thrown left hook. You use the opportunity to land a blow to her exposed stomach. She coughs quietly and you step back to give her room, trying to be as kind as you can to someone who's wrongly accusing you of being a harlot. You're caught off guard though when she lunges for you, knocking you to the ground and pinning your legs under her.
Rookie mistake number two. She goes to swing again but before she can you grab her shoulders and roll, ending in a straddled position with her arms secured over her head. You smirk triumphantly down at the red head under you.
You plan to keep her there until Sweet Pea gets back but she decides to, rather stupidly, open her mouth, "I bet this is a familiar position for you, huh?"
It's not red that you see this time but blackness. All you remember is calling her a bitch and the next thing you know your hands are bruised and you're being pulled, legs kicking in protest, off the red head who now has a busted eye and a bloody nose. You're screaming at whoever has you in their grasp to let you go another round with the nameless girl. A mass of teen Serpents surrounds you, cheering loudly for you.
"Baby, as hot as that was, I'm not putting you down," a familiar voice whispers in your ear, sending shivers down your spine.
You look back at the bloodied girl on the ground. She makes eye contact with you from around Fangs who's trying to help her stand up. You don't know where the reckless idea comes from but, to be fair, you aren't really thinking straight right now. Perhaps that's why you follow through with the plan you have just hastily concocted in your head.
You toss the red head a cute smile and mumble delicately to the tall raven haired boy, "hey, Sweets?"
"Yeah y/n?"
You glance up at him, still in his arms, and pull his lips to yours. You kiss him slowly, drawing it out for as long as you can before you have to breath again. You keep your lips millimetres from his, pressing them against his softly a few more times. When you look back to the ground, the girl is nowhere in sight and the rest of the Serpents have migrated back to the picnic tables. Your cherry blossom back pack is settled at Sweet Pea's feet.
"So," you giggle at his dazed expression, "do you still feel like you need to protect me?"
"Yes," your face falls and you almost push yourself from his arms.
"But, to be fair, I always will. That's just me. You looked amazing fighting though. Absolutely fucking beautiful."
"Okay," you kiss his jaw softly, "I think I can handle that. Now can we please get out of here?"
"Fuck yes!"
your type (pt. 9)
Tumblr media
Hello wonderful people!! I started a summer job and have been reading a SHIT ton, so I haven’t been writing as much. But I’m kinda back into this story again, and we’re about past halfway so I think we can get this done. :) I hope you’ve all been well~~
w.c. 3.1k (yeah, i’m not apologizing for length anymore. i hope you’re all cool with that lol)
pairing: jihoon x OC/reader
pt. 1; pt. 2; pt. 3; pt. 4; pt. 5; pt. 6; pt. 7; pt. 8
“You have a new boyfriend,” Jungkook says the next time they meet up for lunch in the fall semester.
She shrugs, studying her mug. “I guess so.”
He lifts an eyebrow. “You’re still apprehensive.”
“It’s only been 2 months.”
“That’s enough time to know, don’t you think?”
She shakes her head. “It really isn’t.”
Jungkook rests his chin in his palm. “I told you I loved you after two months.”
“We were young and naïve then.”
With a smirk, he doesn’t bother to point out that that first ‘I love you’ had been only three years ago. “Well, how does he feel?”
“Not sure.”
“Trust your instincts on this,” Jungkook encourages. “You have amazing intuition. You told me before I’d even fully moved in with Taehyung that I’d probably wind up dating him.”
“I said that because Taehyung is a good looking, intelligent man and anyone would date him if they were in his proximity long enough.”
Jungkook snorts. “I guess that’s a fair point. But come on. What’s your gut telling you?”
“My gut says that it’s confused,” she replies honestly. “I can’t gauge how honest he is with me.”
“You can’t compare him and Byunggu. No one knew that Byunggu was going to blindside you like that.”
She chuckles. “Do you know how much he’s come up in the last few months? I haven’t talked about him in forever, and all of a sudden, he’s just the topic of every conversation.”
“New boyfriend will do that. Especially after what happened last time.”
She runs a hand through her hair.
“As someone who has dated you, trust me when I say, you’re an all-in kind of lover.” He nudges her fingers with his. “So just go all in.”
“Go all in? And then?”
“Well, if you get hurt in the end, we’re here. You have people around you to hold you up and take care of you. But you can’t go into every relationship anticipating an end.”
She studies the chai in her mug, the way it ripples when she moves her hands even a little. “I guess you’re right.”
Jihoon (13:41)
Hey, lemme know when you’re done at lunch.
Got some stuff I want you to hear before we head home.
Jungkook nods his head towards the phone lighting up at her elbow. “Is that him?”
She nods.
“Are you going to reply?”
“He wants to know when I’m done with you so he can show me something he’s working on.” She fires off a quick text.
“Works in progress?”
“I guess they’ve been less and less finished, yeah.”
Jungkook hums. “If Yoongi hyung were here, he’d say that means Jihoon really likes you.”
Tumblr media
She finds Jihoon in the studio an hour later. Bumzu, one of the TAs, had directed her to the studio when she’d appeared in the music building.
“You’re legendary,” Bumzu had said. “Anyone who’s had Jihoon’s attention this long is legendary.”
She’d had no response for that.
Gently, she touches Jihoon’s arm to make him aware of her presence. Jihoon looks up at her and slides his headphones off. Wordlessly, he passes them to her, and she takes a seat in the spare chair. With her feet up, and her knees hugged to her chest, she listens.
“Can you bring up the sound of the piano? The bass seems to be overpowering it.”
She does this for an hour, and he adjusts as they go along. By the end of it, Jihoon is thoroughly pleased with how the song’s turned out.
“I wish I was as useful for your chemistry research,” Jihoon chuckles. He takes the headphones and puts them on the desk. “You going home?”
“No, I actually have dinner plans.”
Jihoon tilts his head at that. “You do?”
“Correction, we have dinner plans.”
“We do?”
“Jihyo told me to tell you that we’re going for dinner with her and Seungcheol.”
Jihoon’s sweet questioning face quickly changes into something of disgust. “Ew. A double date?”
“I think Jihyo wants to tell me something.”
“And Cheol and I need to be there? Why?”
She shrugs. “I have no idea.” She kisses the top of his head as she stands. “But you need to be ready by 5:30, okay? So, no spending the night here.”
Jihoon hums his agreement. He catches her hand and tugs her back towards him. He pouts up at her until she concedes to a kiss, a bemused smile on her face.
As she closes the studio door behind her, she bumps into someone. Stumbling away from her is a girl she recognizes but can’t place.
The other woman recognizes her first. “You’re Wheein’s friend, aren’t you?”
It takes her a moment. “Byulyi?”
Byulyi smiles at her. Her eyes dart to the door she’d walked out of and the smile on her face falters. “How are you?”
“Good. Just heading home.”
“You taking a music class this semester?” Byulyi asks, her eyes flicking to the door again.
“Oh.” She gets the meaning and the looks. “No. Just visiting someone.”
“Lee Jihoon?”
She holds her breath for another story and Byulyi doesn’t fail her. They start to walk towards the exit.
“If you’re friends with Wheein, you must be a nice person.”
She questions the connection, but doesn’t press that point. “And?”
“So,” Byulyi smirks, “why are you hanging around Lee Jihoon? The man’s manipulative and a swindler. He’ll con you of the love you have to give and leave you heartbroken.”
They push out into the sunlight, enveloped by the dying heat of the day. “He knows the right words to say and he knows exactly when to say them to get to you.”
If she hasn’t learned that already, then she’s an idiot. With a deep breath, she thanks Byulyi for the anecdote and the information. Byulyi is on the list of women Jihoon’s dated. These women follow her around now; the stories are variations of each other.
And at this point, she really doesn’t know what to do with them.
Tumblr media
“I heard another one.” She sets her backpack down at the end of the dining table.
Jihyo glances up from her evolution flashcards. “Who?”
“Moon Byulyi.”
It only takes Jihyo a second to place the name. “Wheein’s music friend?”
“Yeah.” She empties her backpack on the table and then takes her water bottle to the sink to refill it. “I don’t know what to make of it. Apparently other people know Jihoon and I are…” She struggles to find a word.
“Dating?” Jihyo chuckles.
“I haven’t told him that his exes keep telling all his secrets.”
“I promise you, the look on his face when he looks at you isn’t one of a man who’s in for the sex or even just for the chase. He’s in. For all of that and all of you. I promise you that.”
Tumblr media
The boys are already sat at a table when the girls arrive. Seungcheol pulls Jihyo’s chair out, and Jihoon looks conflicted as to whether he should do the same. Smirking, she slips into the chair next to him. She doesn’t kiss his cheek like Jihyo. She grabs his hand under the table and gives it a squeeze.
“Have you looked at the menu?” she asks him.
Jihoon shakes his head. “Not yet.”
She studies him for a moment. “Do you trust me to order for you?”
At this offer, Jihoon tilts his head. “Go ahead.”
Conversation is light. They play rounds of cards while they wait for the food. When Jihoon wins the last round of Shit Head, Jihyo and Seungcheol roll their eyes.
“You guys can’t win every game.”
She laughs. “You guys just aren’t good at games of speed.”
“Or strategy,” Jihoon adds with a smile.
Seungcheol stacks the cards as the food arrives. She leans towards Jihoon as she names the various foods before him. He’s pleasantly surprised at the range. There are foods that he will definitely eat, and a few that are out of his comfort zone but aren’t off-putting.
“So, what do you have to tell us?” Jihoon asks once everyone’s tucked in.
With his head bowed towards his plate, practically shovelling food into his mouth, Seungcheol answers, “We’re dating.”
Jihyo hits his arm.
“What?” Seungcheol lifts his head slightly to look over at Jihyo. “Did you want to make it a big deal?” He straightens up and looks at the couple across him. “We have decided that we are only going to see each other. Be exclusive.”
It takes a lot of effort to keep from laughing. Jihyo hasn’t had any other man over in the last month and a half. This isn’t surprising. The formal announcement is.
“That’s great.” Jihoon’s focus also seems to be on the food as opposed to the actual conversation. She nudges him with her elbow and he puts his chopsticks down. He mimics Seungcheol’s formality. “Seriously. This is excellent news.”
With a good-natured roll of her eyes, Jihyo meets Jihoon’s gaze. “The way you’ve committed, Jihoon, it’s really made us reevaluate.”
Jihoon furrows his brow at Seungcheol, but his friend won’t look at him.
Tumblr media
Later that night, back in the safety of their apartment, Jihoon demands, “What the hell did you tell Jihyo?”
Seungcheol raises his hands in defense. “She asked me last month what my take on your relationship was! I couldn’t just tell her you were in it for a bet! I actually like Jihyo. I wasn’t going to tell her that your relationship was a façade. The only reason she decided to even give me a chance is because you’d been given a chance.”
Jihoon’s gaze could level mountains. “You straight up lied to her.”
“It was that or tell her that we bet on your relationship. You don’t understand how protective they are of her.”
Jihoon shakes his head in frustration. “What?”
“Byunggu?”
“Holy shit. What’s wrong with him? Isn’t he an actor or something?” Jihoon is almost tired of hearing about this ex-boyfriend.
“They threatened to ruin his entire career by blasting it on social media how awful a person he is. The girls have receipts. Even if your girl’s deleted all the messages and rid him from her life, her friends are holding onto them.”
Well, at least Jihoon knows the other man’s definitely not castrated.
“So, yeah, I lied a little about how real your emotions are.”
“Jihyo’ll be furious when she finds out!”
“What else was I supposed to do, Jihoon?” Seungcheol watches Jihoon begin pacing. “I like this girl. Genuinely want to make this work. Even if I only get a few months with her, it’ll be worth it to me. And if I can show her that I genuinely want to be with her in the time before we’re revealed to be the biggest assholes of all time, then maybe I can keep my relationship.”
Jihoon shakes his head in disbelief. “You and Soonyoung put me up to this bet. I told you guys I wanted to back out months ago.”
Seungcheol remembers that day. He was so sure that he would never be one to settle. At least not for years to come. “You can still back out. We can just give up, tell the others that your game isn’t as good as we thought it was. And if we end the bet now while everyone can get away relatively scot free, maybe we should.”
Jihoon shrugs.
Seungcheol catches his friend’s eye. “And I’ve seen the look on your face, Lee Jihoon. You have real feelings you’re scared to admit to.”
He rolls his eyes. “Did it not occur to you that I have to pretend otherwise this won’t work?”
“Whether you’re pretending or not anymore, I don’t know. But what I feel for Jihyo is genuine.”
Hansol (14:21)
You still on campus?
Late lunch?
It’s October and the air is getting crisper. She steps out onto the green with a scarf wrapped around her neck. She finds Hansol at the campus coffee shop. There are two sandwiches on the table, one for each of them.
“Seungkwan?” She slides her bag onto the floor next to her.
“Yeah. It’s one of the reasons why I wanted to have lunch.” He grins up at her, all gums and bright eyes. “I can’t eat two sandwiches.”
“Why doesn’t it surprise me that Seungkwan gets upset when you don’t finish all your food?” She starts to eat and nods in his direction. “Was there something you wanted to talk about?”
“Hmm?” There’s a ball of food in his mouth and his questioning eyes make him look adorable.
Chuckling, she says, “Well, we’ve rarely eaten out without you asking me something.” She juts her chin in his direction. “What’s up?”
“I, uh…” His cheeks start to redden. “Have a question about a girl.”
Her brow furrows slightly. “That’s new. You’re usually pretty confident about that.” She chews a bit. “Shoot.”
“What made you decide Jihoon hyung was a good idea?”
She tilts her head.
“I have a reputation like hyung’s, but mine’s not real.” He studies the contents of the sandwich. “And I just… I don’t know how to convince her.”
“Ah.” After spending the last four months with the boys, she knows whose reputations are real and whose have been garnered by association. Hansol is the latter, not really dating all that much. The girls he pursues are particular, which must mean this girl he’s interested in is amazing.
“You could just tell her the truth.”
“Do you believe everything hyung says?”
She takes a bite, allowing herself some time to think through her answer. She decides that Hansol deserves her honesty. “Not at the beginning, no.” She lowers her sandwich and holds his gaze. “But a relationship doesn’t work unless you trust that the other person’s being honest. And it gets really tiring to second guess everything your partner’s saying.”
Hansol’s cheeks redden even more this time, the blush creeping up to his ears and down his neck.
“Have you lied to her already?”
Hansol’s eyes widen. His voice is tight, practically squeaking out, “What? No.”
She makes a face. “You’re blushing.”
“Oh.” Hansol’s brain scrambles. “I just… uh…” How does he avoid telling her that her relationship is a bet? “Talking about her makes me nervous.”
She lifts an eyebrow, impressed. It’s rare to see Hansol nervous or outside his comfort zone. “You must really like her.”
“Uhm… yes,” he fills his mouth with sandwich, “I do.”
“Then… just be honest. You’re not your reputation.”
Lettuce gets caught in his throat. “And she’ll just… buy that?” He coughs.
“If she’s smart? No. She won’t. But actions help. Prove to her you’re not your reputation. You’re a good guy, Hansol.”
Hansol stares at this woman who he has grown to like. Her company is great, she’s awesome at games, and her humour matches the group’s well. As conversation veers towards classes and research, Hansol can’t help but think about how the bet will end and how hurt she’s going to be. Four times over the next hour, his tongue almost slips. Almost letting out a secret that will definitely end her relationship. Not just with Jihoon but with every one of them.
She checks her watch. “I gotta get back to the lab. The NMR should be done now.” She slips out of her seat and pats his shoulder. “I’ll see you later.”
“Are you coming for dinner tonight?”
She bends down to pick up her backpack, slinging it back over her shoulder. “It’s at yours, isn’t it?”
Hansol nods.
“Yeah, I’ll be there.”
Tumblr media
As soon as Hansol walks into his apartment, he says to Seungkwan, “We need to call off the bet right now.”
Seungkwan has his pink apron on that the boys got him as a joke. “I’ve been saying that for about four months now.”
“Well, we really need to call it off.”
Seungkwan waves his spatula at Hansol, but his eyes fall to the iced Americano in his roommate’s hand and he calms down. “We both know that the guys aren’t just going to do that. Not when they know Jihoon’s this close to winning.”
“What?”
“Do you just ignore all of noona’s feelings? The look on her face when she looks at Jihoon hyung? She’s fallen for him already.” Seungkwan huffs and then takes a long sip from his drink. “It’s just a waiting game now.”
Hansol shakes his head as he heads to his room to drop off his things. “Tell everyone to come early. We need to talk about this bet right now.”
Hansol rarely asks for anything from the others, so when they receive his text, they’re there in thirty minutes.
“What’s wrong?” Jeonghan asks upon arrival. He slips out of his shoes, his eyes not leaving Hansol’s face. “Who’s dying?”
“We’re assholes and we need to call off the bet now.” Hansol grabs his hand to help him over the one step into the house. “If you guys want the money, I’ll give you the money. But I don’t want to see noona get hurt.”
Seungkwan counts heads. “Where’s Jihoon hyung?”
Joshua has his phone out. “He got stuck in the studio.”
Hansol immediately calls Jihoon. When Jihoon answers, he puts the phone on speaker and sets it in the middle of the small dining table.
“What’s going on, Hansol-ah?” They can hear a mouse clicking on the other end. “Dinner’s not for another hour. I can’t make it right now.”
“I want to talk about the bet and you need to be here.” Hansol leans closer to the phone. “Can we just call it off? Hyung, you already know that she likes you. And if she,” he glances at Seungkwan, “if she hasn’t fallen for you already, she’s falling now. So, can we just end this before anyone gets hurt?” Hansol tips his head both ways. “Or more hurt.”
“Yes!” Seungcheol pushes through to the front so Jihoon can definitely hear him. “Let’s call it off.”
The ripple of agreement through the group is comforting to Hansol, but everyone listens when Jihoon’s voice comes through again.
“You guys thought I was still faking it?” His voice is soft, vulnerable. He’s even stopped clicking around on the computer. “Guys, I,” he pauses, trying to bring himself to admit it, “I stopped faking months ago.”
Seungcheol slams his hands down on the table. “We got in a fight last month about this. What the hell are you saying?”
“You told Jihyo without consulting me first. I wasn’t going to tell you that you were right.”
Now, Jeonghan slams his hands onto the table. This second smack causes Jihoon to swear. “So, this is real? Lee Jihoon has a girlfriend?”
“Hanging up now.” They can hear the smile in his voice. “See you guys later.”
Hi, your Henry fluff is killing me but in a good way!! ☺️ Could I ask for some more fluff with Henry, Kal, and introvert, curvy reader please? Like just them being at the begin of their relationship and she’s pretty much new to all the boyfriend/couple stuff and not used being treated so well and feeling loved at all times and Kal is pretty much smitten with her already? It’s okay if you don’t feel like writing it, take care!!
Hey! Thank you so much for sending this in! I’m glad you’re enjoying my writing and had a lot of fun writing your request. Especially because it forced me to write a little outside of my own view and experience (I’m lucky enough to never have struggled too much with my body) So I hope you enjoy!! Genre: fluff
Warnings: none
2k words
Your curves and all your edges
You nervously stare at your reflection, smoothing out the shirt you’re wearing and trying to avoid glancing at the fat on your body. Your new boyfriend is due to pick you up for a walk along the beach any moment now and you’re about this close to texting him not to come. Your low self-esteem threatening to get the best of you and ruining your chance at what could be something beautiful. You’d never been considered beautiful by society’s standards, barely anyone granting you a second glance on the streets. And even now that you have a boyfriend you can’t shake the feeling that you won’t be enough for him. Or maybe that you’ll get too much in just a couple of weeks. After all, he’s tall and handsome and fucking superman. How could you compare? You take one last deep breath in and turn around, feeling that you’ll never be ready so might as well go through with it.
“Hello beautiful” the deep voice startles you as you spin around to see Henry standing in the door, he must’ve been watching you and only made his presence known when you turned. “Jesus Henry, I didn’t here come in at all!” he gives you a sly smile, raking his eyes over your form and you do your best to not close the door in his face to avoid the gaze.
“I’m sorry darling, your flatmate let me in and seeing you so lost in thought I couldn’t help but take in the view for a moment.” He closes the gap between you to, wrapping you into his arms for a moment and giving you a peck on the cheek when he lets go again. “C’mon darling, Kal’s waiting in the car.” He says with a smile as he reaches for your hand.
You follow him out, more excited than worried now. Even just his small compliments already boosting your mood and making you feel a little better. Outside, Henry opens the trunk of his car so Kal can greet you properly before you head off towards the beach. The bear immediately runs up to you and nudges you with his big head. “Hey big boy!” you crouch down and give him a good scratch to say hello. He bonks his head into your chest almost making you fall over with the unexpected force.
“Careful, bear!” Henry chides, though not too seriously. “Don’t break my precious before we even get to the beach.” You smile at his remark, getting back on your feet and into the car. You’re quite as Henry starts driving, your thoughts from the mirror still lingering and though Henry is charming as ever and the bear obviously is fond of you, your thoughts just won’t let you enjoy the moment.
When you pull out on the motorway Henry’s hand wanders onto your thigh and squeezes it gently. “Do you know that you’re so incredibly beautiful to me?” He catches your gaze as you look up from your lap and holds it for a second before focusing back on the street. You sigh, not really having a good reply to his compliment. “I saw the way you look at yourself in the mirror. I know what people are saying behind our backs. But none of it matters. You’re beautiful to me.” You stare out the window for a bit, his hand still on reassuringly on your thigh.
“No one’s ever said that to me. And honestly, I’m not sure I can believe you.” you admit in a sudden burst of honesty, immediately chiding yourself for letting on just how much his compliment means. You want to speak up, start a conversation, but you’re too caught up in your own head to think of something to say. Thankfully, Henry is a lot more conversational than you and starts talking about his last couple of days. Telling anecdotes from set and inquiring what you’ve been up to. As the conversation continues you slowly start to relax, your mind quieting down a little and allowing you to enjoy the moment. The fear of it all ending soon subsiding at least for a while.
After a 20-minute drive, Henry pulls up into the parking lot at the beach and you both get out of the car, Kal excitedly jumping out as soon as the door opens. Henry grabbing a backpack from the backseat before grabbing your hand again to start walking down to the water. The bear pressing himself to your side until you reach the sand and he gets the signal to run free. You walk along the waterline, occasionally throwing sticks for Kal to fetch, who always drops them right in front of you.
“Seems he already likes you more than he does me.” Henry jokes when his dog once again doesn’t give him the stick. You laugh, graciously handing your acquired stick over to Henry so he can have a throw as well.  “He just knows I don’t throw as far so he doesn’t have to run as much.” Henry stops walking at your remark, turning fully towards you and lifting his hands up to your face.
“I really don’t think that’s what it is, darling. I think he can see how delightful and charming you are and is drawn to it just as I am.” You want to hide your face in embarrassment, but the look in his blue eyes won’t let you. He slowly leans in and pulls you into a kiss. A gentle, careful kiss as if you might break if he’s too rough. And then another one. Kal comes back with his stick and drops it by your feet. Nudging your leg again when you don’t immediately go to grab it and throw again. You giggle into the kiss as Henry helps you keep your balance.
“Let’s sit for a while, I brought some picnic and I have something important to tell you.” You cock your head at how mysterious Henry is being but decide not to question it just yet. Surely, he’ll let you know once he deems it time and you just hope that it’s not going to be bad news. After all, why would he bring you all the way out here just to break your heart. That doesn’t make much sense.
You help him set up the blanket, which is quite the task with the hyped up Kal playing between your legs. After a couple of failed attempts Henry finally gets the bear to sit still long enough to get your sitting space sorted. Though as soon as that is done, Kal jumps up again, almost running you over in his excitement to get back to his toy. “Jesus Hen, did you give him some of your coffee this morning?” you giggle as you both sit down and your boyfriend unpacks the lunch he packed, passing you a sandwich and a bottle of juice. “I think he just missed you.” He replies with a grin.
You sit in silence while you eat, keeping Kal busy by letting him fetch a couple more times before he finally decides he’s had enough and comes to lie next to you on the blanket. His big head on your big lap, the perfect match. Maybe being built as you are isn’t so bad after all if it means you can support the massive dog lying half on top of you. Enjoying the ocean breeze, you absentmindedly pet Kal’s head and let your mind wander. Your thoughts are unusually quiet for once and you relish in the feeling of peace.
Henry scoots over closer to you after he finishes his food, petting his dog quickly before wrapping his arm around your side and pulling you into him. “Can’t have the bear get all of the snuggles. He’s making me jealous.” He speaks softly into your hair.
“What was it you wanted to tell me?” you inquire after a moment of silence, not wanting to disturb the comfortable silence but too curious to wait any longer. Henry doesn’t immediately reply, and instead sits up a little straighter first so he can look you in the eyes.
“I’ve been thinking… and I know we haven’t been together very long at all yet, but I enjoy your company. You’re fun to be around and you help me relax like no one ever did before. I feel safe and seen with you and it may be a little hasty to say it, but I need you to know that I love you. I really do.” His face looks so vulnerable in that moment. Baring his heart for you to see, hoping you won’t reject him. You show a confused smile, not having anticipated such a big confession. No one had ever told you they loved you. And especially not with so much sincerity in their voice. “You don’t have to say it back. I just wanted you to know.” He reassures when you don’t reply.
“How?” you ask. And now it’s Henry’s turn to look slightly confused. “How do you love me?” you continue. “I’m nobody. I’m not pretty, I’m not rich, I’m not desirable in any way. I’m barely keeping my head above water and you could have anyone. I don’t even know how to do this whole relationship thing. No one’s ever given me the chance.” Your gaze sank further with every word, not wanting him to see the shame in your eyes. Great response you chide yourself. Why couldn’t you just take it? But years of loneliness had taught you better than to just believe anyone who said they’d be there.
“Oh, Beautiful” Henry cradles your face in his hands again, making you look him in the eyes. He places a gentle kiss on your lips. “You may not look like a model, but you have the personality of an angel. You may not feel worthy, but you deserve the world. You may not have been great at school, but you’ve got your own talents. I love you not for what you seem but for who you are. And who you are is a person that makes me laugh, and a person that cares, and a person that is so incredibly strong in a world so pitted against them. I see the way you look at yourself in the mirror and I want to punch every single person who ever made you feel less than. When I say I love you, I mean all of you. All your curves and all your edges. All your perfect imperfections. Because they all make you, you and who you are is wonderful. And I don’t care about your experience. I don’t care what other people think. All I care about is that we can figure it out together. If you want, of course.”
You’re absolutely speechless. How are you supposed to react to a confession like this? Do you say thank you? Should you just kiss him? Should you reject it and stay safe from having your heart broken? Your brain quickly zaps past all the possibilities and risks, but your racing thoughts are stopped when Kal suddenly gives a loud bark. You gaze snaps down at him and he just looks at you, expectantly. After a moment he nudges your tummy and then looks at Henry. You look up at the man who just bared his heart in front of you, his eyes hopeful. And in this moment, you decide that maybe it’ll be worth the risk. Henry has shown you nothing but love and kindness since you two met. And you can’t win if you don’t play. You gather all your courage and lean in to kiss him, the first time that you’ve initiated it.  You deepen the kiss and feel Henry’s relief wash over his body, his arms wrapping around you and holding you so tight as if he’s scared you’ll change your mind and run away. When you both come up for breath, a smile creeps on your face as you look at him.
Life After Losing Him
Summary: Reader goes about their new daily life but soon runs into the best friend they had lost several months prior.
TW/CW: Platonic!Reader x Sam and Dean Winchester (mostly Dean tbh). Classmate bullying Reader. Should College Student Reader be a warning? Bc I feel like it should lmao. Lots of swearing. Dean does the silver blade test so a wound and blade are mentioned. I don’t think there’s anything else but lmk if I should add something.
Requested?: Yes, a lovely Anon said, “Hello love, your writing is really good and I love how active you are on your account it’s very impressive I could never 🥰 I would be so honored if you could do a platonic imagine for me??? I had in mind like Dean going to hell and coming back and being mad at Sam because he stopped hunting and maybe being mad at reader for moving on and going to college/not trying to help Sam? Idk if that makes any sense lol”
Word Count: 1,880
A/N: So, Dean isn’t as angry as I could’ve written him to be, I didn’t really include Sam much in this one, and it’s mostly Reader going about her day in her new life. If enough of you want it, I could write a second part where Dean and Reader get home and talk to Sam or whatever. I hope this is alright. I personally really like some bits of it but as a whole it feels off to me for some reason.
Your POV
    I grabbed the car keys off my side table before heading out my bedroom door with my backpack slung over my shoulder. I stopped in the kitchen to grab the lunch I had packed the previous evening and a thermos of coffee before heading out for another day of boring ass classes. When I enrolled at the local community college to major in folklore and mythology, I thought the classes would be more interesting and it would be a piece of cake but unfortunately, I got stuck with a boring professor who obviously didn’t even want to be teaching the class in the first place. I push the garage doors open before making my way over to the car. I open the door and drop down into the driver’s seat, set my thermos in the cupholder near my feet, and toss my backpack and lunchbox into the passenger seat. After closing the door, I sigh as I place my hands on the steering wheel, “Alright, Baby. Another day without him but I know you’ve still got my back.” I reach over and pat the dash before cranking the ignition and pulling out of the garage to head for school. The ride to school is quiet aside from the classic rock drifting softly through the speakers.
    I manage to find a decent parking spot within walking distance of my class but have to mentally prepare myself before grabbing my coffee and backpack and stepping out of the car. I lock the doors, shut mine, and head towards class. On autopilot, I find the classroom that I need and take my usual seat near the front against a wall and turn my back to the wall as I always do. Aside from a few who like to get here early for the same reason I do, to get our favorite seats, the majority of the class hasn’t arrived yet so I pull out my notebook, pen, and coffee. I avoid all eye contact with the others in the room and label my notebook page for today’s lecture. For the most part, people around here seem to avoid me although I haven’t decided if it’s because I intimidate them or because they think I’m “one of those backwoods crazy people” or perhaps it’s both. Regardless, it suits me fine. I’m not here to make friends, I’m here to get a degree and do something useful with my new life. When he died, Sam and I both agreed to not try to find a way to bring him back and try to create a normal life. Every now and then, I secretly take a hunt but it’s usually nothing more than a basic salt and burn case. I did get a job at a local mechanic shop. They were practically begging me to take the job when I showed up for the interview in Baby.
    I’m pulled from my thoughts as a loud group of guys enter the room. I try to ignore them but as per usual their little pack leader wants to try to ruin my day. He calls out to me but thankfully before he can start something, the instructor enters and tells him to have a seat. I’ll have to give this instructor points for at least not putting up with any bullshit like that in his class. Anyway, the rest of the class joins shortly and takes their seats and, on the dot, as always, the instructor starts his lecture. A miserable hour and a half later I have several pages of notes, most of which are completely false from a hunter’s perspective, about topics I already know the truth about just so I know what the instructor will expect on the test. The instructor dismisses us so I pack away all my things and head back to the car to eat lunch before my next class.
    I’m about halfway back to the car, which is completely hidden by a huge, jacked up, 4x4 pickup truck, when the loud group of guys catches up to me and their leader calls out again, "Hey, nerd! Why don’t you stop for a second? I didn’t get a chance to take notes in class and I want to get pictures of yours.”
    I ignore him and keep my head down as I mumble under my breath, “yeah because you were sleeping,” and continue to the car. As I come around the back end of the pickup and approach the car, I slam into something, or rather someone, sturdy and nearly get knocked on my ass if it weren’t for the person catching me. Out of instinct I go to grab my dagger out of its sheath under my sleeve but the person grabs my hand, “Don’t pull that thing out here. It’s just me.” Hearing that voice causes pure shock mixed with a touch of suspicion to wash over me. I look up and into the face of my formerly, dearly departed best friend, Dean Winchester. However, before I can ask questions or even test to make sure it’s him, the small group of my classmates rounds the end of the pickup truck causing Dean to push me behind him in a protective way.
    The pack leader grins mischievously, “Who’s this? You know this guy, nerd?”
    I roll my eyes but Dean speaks up for me, “I’m (Y/n)’s brother you little bitch. Now, fuck off and leave her alone.” In all honesty, Dean wasn’t biologically my brother but he and Sam have been the closest thing to having any siblings in general that I’ve ever gotten.
    The pack leader looks around Dean at me, “This true?” I nod. He laughs, “Well, I don’t know which of you are driving this piece of junk but you should probably get with the times and stop driving this old rust bucket. Maybe you could upgrade to a nice truck like mine here,” he taunts patting the truck parked beside us.
    “Your attention seeking, overcompensating piece of shit on wheels could never handle the things this car has been through,” Dean argues, stepping forward. I grab his arm and tug in attempts to get him to back down, no luck.
    The guy scoffs, “Yeah right. I bet if your little friend behind you there hit a curb it’d tear this car to pieces.”
    Before Dean can get into a fist fight, I unlock the car door and shove him in before climbing in myself. Unfortunately, the asshole doesn’t get the hint that I’m leaving and leans back against Baby. I check the mirrors to make sure that I’m not going to run anyone over before driving forward out of my spot, mentally thanking whoever didn’t park there or had just pulled out of the spot in front of me, causing the pack leader to fall on his ass. I laugh to myself as I watch in the rearview mirror and then take off. I find a secluded spot on campus to park so that I can test Dean, figure out what the hell happened with him, and eat my lunch before my next class in four hours. When I put the car in park, and look over, he’s already rolled his sleeve up and has a silver blade ready for the test. He presses the blade into his arm right above another wound that looks fresh.
    “I figure if Sam wanted all the tests done then you definitely will,” he grumbles before wrapping his arm having sufficiently proven he’s not allergic to the silver. I grab the bottle of holy water that I keep in my backpack and hand it to him. He takes a sip of it before handing it back to me. I nod in understanding before grabbing my lunchbox to eat.
    Once I’ve opened my sandwich, I take a bite, chew, and swallow before asking, “What happened this time?”
    “I don’t know, Sam’s working on that now,” he pauses, watching me, “I’d like to know what the hell happened to you.”
    “There it is again. You never call him Sam but that’s twice in just the past few minutes,” I muse, avoiding his question, “I guess you’re pissed at him because he stopped hunting?”
    “Yeah, and it seems to me like you did too so why don’t you answer my question?” he replies.
    I sigh, and toss my sandwich back onto the paper towel in my lap, “After we lost you, Sam and I agreed to not go looking for a way to bring you back and to start living a normal life. Granted, I always mentally thanked him for phrasing it that way because that meant if a way to bring you back fell into my lap then I could take the opportunity. Regardless, I got a job at a mechanic shop nearby and started classes here for a degree in folklore and mythology.”
    He scoffs and whips his head around to look out the windshield, “So you stopped hunting too. What the hell is wrong with you two?”
    “The two of us didn’t stop hunting. He did,” I snap back, “He doesn’t know it but I go on hunts every now and then when the apple pie life gets too boring.”
    “What about that asshole back there? Why do you let him bully you?” he asks, nodding his head toward where we had come from earlier.
    “He’s always trying to pick on me but I ignore him for the most part and keep my dagger in my sleeve just in case. The less attention I draw to myself the better.” I answer.
    “You’re really balancing all this? Like, you go to class and study for exams and shit but then every now and then you go hunting during the weekend?” he asks and I nod. “So, what about Sammy?”
    “He got a job, even been on a few dates but like I said, he stopped hunting, as far as I know anyway,” I respond. My phone dings before either of us could say anything else so I pick it up to check it and find that my instructor for my other class for today has sent out a message to cancel it for today. I toss the phone down onto the seat between us and stuff my sandwich and everything else I had pulled out back into my lunchbox before putting the car in drive and backing out of this spot.
    “What are you doing?” he questions, once again. I swear if he doesn’t knock it off with the questions, I’m going to roundhouse his ass.
    “Going home. My other class for today was cancelled,” I answer shortly.
    He’s quiet until we get to the campus entrance, “Can we- uh- Can we stop and get a burger on the way?” I nod as I laugh at him. This is probably going to be weird to adapt to but we’ll figure it out. The three of us always figure things out. Honestly, if this turns into something bigger, as it usually does, then wouldn’t mind quitting school. Turns out it’s not all it’s cracked up to be and definitely not for me. I just hope Dean won’t sulk too long about how Sam and I handled life after losing him.
Skinny Dipping | A Hwang Hyunjin Scenario
Word Count: 3075
Type: Smut
Warnings: Public sex (kinda?)
Author’s Note: I have so many soft smut fics for Hwang Hyunjin, so I was struggling with finding an idea for this request. My bae @jisungsjheekies came up with this camping idea :3
So big thanks to Lins <3
Also tagging @cherryeol04 and @channiesmixtape because I’m dying for them to read this.
Tumblr media
“I’ve never been camping.”
Your burger slipped out of your hands, falling onto your plate in a mess of ketchup-coated beef and lettuce as you gawked at your boyfriend. “How the hell have you not been camping?”
When you were a kid, your parents took you camping ALL THE TIME. Your family rarely stayed home on a summer weekend. You had fond memories of sleeping in a tent with your sister, telling scary stories by the bonfire, swimming in the lake (and trying not to fear that weird plant that always seemed to wrap around your foot), and catching fireflies in jars underneath the moonlight. Oh, you just HAD to take Hyunjin camping. You had a feeling the boy would have a blast stargazing with REAL STARS. Especially since he spent HOURS one-year sticking hundreds of glow-in-the-dark stars all over your bedroom for your anniversary.
Hyunjin couldn’t help but laugh at your surprise. “Hey, I came here to take my beautiful girlfriend out to lunch, not to be judged.” He chuckled. “I thought I told you that I grew up in the city. Why are you so surprised?” Hyunjin smiled as he shoved a few fries in his mouth, cheeks puffing out slightly as he munched.
How could a boy look so cute eating?
You shrugged as you tried to put your messy burger back together. “You’re right. Not everyone grew up in the countryside like me.” You chuckled. “Well, I’m going to take you camping this weekend.” You paused. “Unless you have plans?”
“Nope.” Hyunjin smiled. “I’m 100% free.”
You beamed at Hyunjin. “Great! I know a great spot not too far from town. It’s near a secluded lake.” You took a giant bite of your burger, munching a bit before you finished. “It’s been a while, but I think there’s a small waterfall there too.”
Hyunjin chuckled and nodded. “I’ll go, but only if you eat with your mouth closed.”
“Rude.” You chuckled and wiped your mouth. “I happen to eat like a lady.”
“I disagree.” Hyunjin reached over the table and wiped your mouth for you. “But I love you anyway.”
-----------------
Hyunjin pursed his lips as he bent one of the tent poles, sliding the two pieces together with ease. There we go! Now according to the instructions…
SNAP!
“You’ve got to be kidding me.” Hyunjin sighed as the tent fell to the ground — yet again. This was Hyunjin’s third attempt putting the tent together, with the instructions that came in the bag. There were many other embarrassing attempts that he’d rather not speak of… Every time he managed to get the tent put together, the damn thing would collapse. Perhaps he should admit defeat and ask you to put the tent together? After all, you were the camping expert.
“Hyunjin, I hate to break it to you, but you aren’t very good at putting a tent together.” You giggled as Hyunjin’s lower lip popped out.
“Hey, I’m trying my best.” He chuckled. “I wanted to get the tent put together while you were paying for the spot.” Hyunjin huffed and crossed his arms. “Which I told you I would do.”
“My treat.” You laughed. “I dragged you out here, the least I could do is pay for our amazing spot.”
You beamed at the camping space you two selected. The spot was surrounded by trees, far away from others, and the lake was just a short hike away. You had lawn chairs, a charcoal grill, and you weren’t too far from the bathrooms. Now you just needed to get that tent taken care of.
“Are you sure we’re not going to be eaten by a wild animal or something?” Hyunjin watched you piece the tent together with ease, mentally facepalming at how easy you made it look. “Okay that’s not fair.”
You chuckled as you headed over to your trusty old truck, grabbing a handful of blankets from the backseat. “Don’t worry Jinnie. I’ll fight off the deer for you.”
Hyunjin’s jaw dropped, brows creasing as he grabbed the armful of blankets from you. “I’m not worried about the deer you dork.” He threw the blankets into the tent before turning to you, hands on his hips. “I’m more worried about the bears.”
“We have bear spray for the bears.” You closed the door to the truck, your bag and Hyunjin’s slung over your shoulders as you headed to the tent.
“Let me help with that.” Hyunjin grabbed his bag and a couple grocery bags off your hands. “Are you sure bear spray is going to be enough?”
“Jinnie, we’ll be okay.” You smiled and tossed the bags into the tent. “Let’s get the tent all set up.”
Hyunjin smiled and crawled into the tent, hands working to spread the mess of blankets and pillows along the tent so the two of you would have a comfortable place to sleep. You helped Hyunjin stack the pillows along the sides, smiling at your handiwork when everything was completed.
“I have a surprise for you.” You grinned as you pulled out some glow in the dark stars from your bag.
Hyunjin threw his head back and laughed. “You really brought those?” He grabbed the box from your hand, eyeing up the sticky stars as he grinned. “But we’re out here, where we can see real stars?”
“Yeah, but this is our little home away from home.” You smiled. “You love those stars.”
“I love you more.” Hyunjin leaned forward and captured your lips in a sweet kiss. “So so much my love.”
There he goes again.
Hwang Hyunjin always knew how to make your heart soar. The ebony-haired boy had a way with words. “I love you too Jinnie.” You smiled and leaned into his chest. “I could lay here with you all day.”
Hyunjin hummed in approval as he leaned back against the blankets, pulling you onto his chest. “Why don’t we?”
For a split second, you agreed with him. Nothing sounded better than laying on Hyunjin’s chest, listening to his heartbeat while his fingers ran through your hair. His hand started to rub your back and you were suddenly entranced by the sweet affection that Hwang Hyunjin had to give.
But you came here for a reason.
“Jinnie, we could cuddle all day at home.” You buried your face in his neck, completely contradicting what you were about to say next. “I want to go to the lake.” Did you really? At this point, you weren’t sure. Laying in Hyunjin’s arms all day sounded like a good plan.
Hyunjin chuckled. “Of course my love. Let’s go so we can get back and snuggle.”
Oh, your heart…
You smiled when Hyunjin kissed your forehead before releasing his iron-like grip on your waist, allowing you to sit up. “Okay love.” You grabbed a couple of water bottles. “Are you ready to go on a hike?”
“As long as it’s with you.” Hyunjin smiled and grabbed his backpack. “But I’m bringing snacks.”
--------------------
“Are we almost there?” Hyunjin pushed through a few branches, grunting when one smacked him in the face.
You couldn’t help but laugh at the poor boy as he rubbed the red mark on his forehead. “Oh my gosh, Jinnie are you okay?” You rushed to his side and grabbed his hand. “Here walk with me, I’ll protect you from those branches.”
“I’m not that fragile.” Hyunjin chuckled as he followed behind you. “How much longer?”
“What, you don’t like hiking?” You poked Hyunjin’s side, making the boy gasp and giggle.
“No, it’s not that, but you seem tired.” Hyunjin scrunched his nose before kissing your cheek.
Okay, he had a point. Hyunjin danced for a living. He was always in good shape. You, however… worked from home and you had a habit of binge-watching all the shows on Netflix versus actually leaving the house and getting some exercise. Sure you loved hiking, but that doesn’t mean you were in shape for it.
“We’re almost there.” You smiled as you pushed some more branches out of the way. “Actually we ARE here.”
Hyunjin’s sparkly eyes scanned the beautiful landscape, a soft “wow,” escaping his lips as he walked past the branches. “What a beautiful waterfall.”
The soothing sounds of water meeting water filled the air the closer you two came to the waterfall. Hyunjin’s hand rested on your lower back as you searched for a good place to sit. “Let’s sit over there.” You pointed to a log resting next to a few trees. That would make an excellent bench.
The two of you sat side by side as you munched on various granola bars and fruit snacks. The hike was only an hour, but you and Hyunjin were exhausted. It was well worth it though, to see his smiling face as he took in the beautiful sights of the lake.
“This is nice.” You smiled. “Thanks for coming here with me. I missed camping.”
“Of course.” Hyunjin grinned. “I’m having fun.”
“Do you think you’d want to go again?” You popped another fruit snack in your mouth, eager eyes waiting for his answer.
“I’d love to.” Hyunjin smiled. “As long as we don’t run into any bears.”
You couldn't help but giggle at Hyunjin as the boy chowed down on a granola bar. A comfortable silence filled the air as you and Hyunjin sat next to each other, simply enjoying each other’s presence.
You couldn’t help the blush that coated your cheeks as Hyunjin tilted his head back, ebony bangs falling out of his face as his eyes drifted shut. The sun illuminated the glistening sweat along his brow as a small smile tugged at his lips. “It’s hot out here.” Hyunjin fanned himself with his hand, despite thoroughly enjoying the feeling of the sun’s rays against his skin.
Yeah, it was hot, but it didn’t have anything to do with the sun…
“We should go swimming.” You smiled at the boy when his eyes opened. “It’ll cool you down.”
Well… that and you were kind of hoping to see your boyfriend’s toned chest under the bright sun. Hwang Hyunjin had a damn beautiful body — and if you played your cards right, you might be able to have that pretty body on top of yours.
“But we don’t have swimsuits.” Hyunjin chuckled. “What are we going to swim in, our clothes?”
You smirked and stood up, hands slowly pulling your shirt off your body. “I have another idea.” You couldn’t help but notice the dark blush coating Hyunjin’s cheeks as you reached behind your back, unclasping your bra and letting it fall to the ground. If you weren’t so turned on right now, you’d be concerned about creepy crawlies getting up in your bra — but you were more interested in getting Hyunjin to get naked and hop in the water with you.
“Baby, what if someone comes?” Hyunjin’s hand ran across his mouth as if the motion would wipe the stupid grin off his face. You were always more adventurous than Hyunjin, and he LOVED that part of you, but getting naked in public? What if someone else came and saw the two of you naked in the lake? He’d rather get naked with you in the safety of the tent, where wandering eyes wouldn’t be able to catch you. “I don’t know…”
“Come on Hyunjin.” Your hands unbuttoned your shorts while you stepped out of your hiking boots. “Live a little.” You pulled your shorts down your hips, leaving you in your cute heart panties.
Hyunjin stood up and pulled his shirt off. “Fine.” He made quick work of his pants and underwear before bending down and yanking off his socks. “Let’s get this over with, so no one sees us.”
“You’re such a worrywart.” You giggled as you stripped the rest of the way down, tying your hair back before slowly wading in the water. “Come on in, the water’s nice!”
“Of course I’m worried.” Hyunjin followed after you, muscles rippling as the warm water ran against his skin. “What’s the point of this?
“The point?” You smiled. “We get to swim with a beautiful view, and I get to see my boyfriend naked.” You giggled when Hyunjin grabbed your waist and pulled you to his chest, fingers raking along your sides as he tickled you. “Hyunjin stop!” You laughed as you tried to escape his iron grip.
“Okay fine.” Hyunjin stopped his attack as he kissed you on the cheek. “But only because I love you.” His cheeks flushed slightly. “Besides, you’re way prettier than the view.” Hyunjin’s lips traveled down to your lips as his hands rested on your hips. “I guess I see why you wanted to skinny dip so bad.”
“Are you?” You giggled when Hyunjin silenced you with a kiss. “Jinnie, are you —”
“I want you.” Hyunjin’s brows creased. “I know it’s wrong. We’re out in public… anyone could see, but I want you.”
“It’s not wrong.” You pressed soft kisses along his jawline. “I want you too.” Your arms wrapped around his neck as Hyunjin pulled your legs around his waist. “I love you so much.” You tightened your legs around his waist. “Please?”
“Okay sweet girl.” Hyunjin rested his forehead against your chest as he rubbed the tip of his cock against your slit. “You have me.” Hyunjin slid himself inside you with ease, cock rubbing every single inch of your walls as he reached the hilt. “Fuck…” Hyunjin clenched his jaw, trying to keep from losing himself right there. There was something about the sweet way you begged for his cock, mixed with the danger of getting caught that sent the blood rushing straight to Hyunjin’s shaft.
You threw your head back and moaned, thoroughly enjoying the way your bodies fit together. It was as if the two of you were made for each other. Hyunjin’s cock fit inside you perfectly, tilting up slightly to hit your g-spot with every thrust. “Hyunjin, move please.” Your hands threaded in his hair as you rolled your hips against his. “I need to feel you inside me.”
Hyunjin bit your shoulder lightly before running his tongue along the mark, hips starting to thrust upward as his fingertips dug into your thighs. “Fuck you feel so good, baby.” Hyunjin moaned quietly as his lips traveled along your neck. “You always feel so good.”
Fucking in the water like this was a bit awkward. The two of you were trying to hurry so you wouldn’t get caught, and Hyunjin wasn’t really in the position to thrust, so the two of you were mostly just grinding your hips together, hoping the friction would bring you both to the edge. Fortunately, Hyunjin’s cock was hitting all the right spots, even without him properly thrusting inside you.
“Hold on sweetheart,” Hyunjin grunted as he gathered his footing, hips snapping into yours more effectively.
“Oh fuck.” You gasped as Hyunjin’s cock rammed right into your g-spot. The feeling of his cock pistoning into you mixed with the water splashing between your bodies brought you close to your high almost instantly. “Oh my God, Jinnie.” You moaned. “So good.” Your arms tightened around his neck the faster he went. “Fuck it’s so good.”
“I’m so close, love.” Hyunjin moaned pornographically. “I’m so close. Touch yourself, baby. Cum with me.”
Hyunjin’s soft voice nearly sent you into overdrive as you reached between your bodies to frantically rub your clit. “I’m close Jinnie.”
“That’s it sweet girl.” Hyunjin moaned as his hips started to snap erratically, falling out of the rhythm he once had the closer he came to his high. “Fuck I’m — ah.” Hyunjin buried his head in your neck as he came inside you, groaning when your walls clenched around him as you hit your own high. He held you close, thrusting shallowly as your eyes rolled in the back of your head, loud moans erupting from your lips as you rubbed yourself through your orgasm. You leaned forward, practically collapsing in Hyunjin’s arms as he held you. “You alright, love?”
“Mhmm.” You mumbled as you regained your breath. “You’re so good.”
Hyunjin chuckled as he pressed soft kisses along your neck. Exhaustion hit him all at once as he pulled out of you, a small smirk tugging at his lips when you groaned at the emptiness. “We should get out before someone sees us,” Hyunjin whispered in your ear.
“Let them see.” You sighed. “I want to stay in your arms.”
“If we head back to the tent, you can spend all night in my arms.” Hyunjin smiled, praying you’d take the bait. The last thing he wanted was to traumatize an innocent family with the sight of your naked bodies in the water.
“Okay.” You smiled lazily and slid off of his body. The two of you air-dried for a while before quickly dressing to avoid an awkward confrontation with an unsuspecting traveler. “That was fun.” You smiled. “We should do that again.”
“Have sex in the lake?” Hyunjin giggled. “I don’t know if I want to make that a habit.”
“Good point.” You pulled your shirt over your head and gasped. “Oh my God Hyunjin.” You pointed to a trail across from the lake, spotting a sweet looking family hike up the hill. “Quick put your shirt on.”
Hyunjin threw his shirt on, cheeks flushing bright red as the father waved at the two of you. “Hello, sir.” Hyunjin bowed to the man, praying they didn’t hear any of what happened just moments earlier.
“The water warm?” The man grinned as his kids started to take off their swimsuit cover-ups. “We heard there was a lake around here, but I didn’t think it would be this beautiful.”
“The water’s amazing.” You smiled and grabbed Hyunjin’s hand. “We’re exhausted from swimming so we’ll see you around!” You smiled as the family waved, practically dragging Hyunjin down the trail behind you.
“So we hiked through trees when there was a trail?” Hyunjin chuckled.
“That’s what you’re worried about?” You laughed. “We JUST finished fucking in there.”
“Guess we finished just in time,” Hyunjin smirked and slung his arm around your shoulders. “Now let’s go back to the tent and sleep. I’m exhausted.”
You smiled and leaned into Hyunjin’s side, wrapping your arm around his waist as the two of you walked along the trail. “Sounds amazing.”
You’re my equal
Wilhelmina Venable X reader
You are Ms. Venable’s assistant. Months of crushing on her and trying to get close. One night she calls you asking for you help but when you get to her house, you are glad you did.
*
You rushed into her office with coffee, which was burning your hand by the way you are holding it. You placed it onto her desk and organised a few of her paper when you looked up and noticed her walking in, she was walking tensely. She looked hurt but you decided that you maybe were only overanalysing her. Working months with someone who you had a crush on made you do that
“Good morning, Ms. Venable.” You greeted, pulling her chair out and stepping back slightly. You watched her roll her eyes in distain before taking a seat and you noticed the slight tightening of her lips.
“Good morning, Ms. Y/L/N.” She responded and looked up at you, “What is it?” She asked and you shook your head.
“Nothing… Well, I mean, I hope I am not speaking out of turn, Ms. Venable, but you seem as you are in pain. Is there anything I can do?” You asked, concerned and you knew you had said the wrong thing because when her jaw tightened, she stared at you viciously.
“The only pain I am feeling is the migraine your presence brings me. So, you would do well to leave before I fire you.” Ms. Venable said and you nodded slightly, trying to figure out how to help her.
*
You had taken your lunch break to run to a pharmacy, making sure to grab a hot water bottle, some painkillers and an orthopaedic back pillow. You paid, the total coming to 37. 58 and you smiled at the cashier as she bagged it up.
When you had gotten back to your workplace, you ran to heat up the hot water bottle, leaving the rest of your supplies at your desk. You had also decided to grab your boss a cup of coffee and a glass of water.
You watched and waited until she had left the office before rushing in. Wilhelmina Venable would not take to kindly if she had thought you were pitying her. You were not but you were concerned, and you had be damned if you were not going to take care of the woman you had been falling in love with.
You placed the Coffee, water and painkillers next to each other on the desk as well as fixing the pillow onto her desk chair. You looked at the desk again, unsure of where to place the hot water bottle before deciding just to place it on her desk too.
You grabbed some paper, writing a note, ‘Meeting on the 25th!’ Just to let her know it was you.
You left her office and took a seat at your desk, watching as Ms. Venable entered again. You could see the shocked expression her face and watched her face ease as she sat down. She took 2 painkillers and positioned the hot water bottle against her upper back.
Her eyes met you after she had read the note and she nodded, a tight smile on her lips. You nodded back before looking down at your work, occasionally looking up to check on her. You noticed after 30 minutes, she began relaxing a lot more and you were glad your boss was in less pain. She may never be your girlfriend, but at least she knows you care.
*
When you woke in the middle of Friday night, preparing for your two-day weekend break, to a call from Wilhelmina, you knew something was wrong. You picked it up and sat up.
“Ms. Venable, a-are you okay, it’s 9:30pm?” You asked sleepily, before rubbing your eyes. You heard her shaky breath.
“I need your help at my house—Please, Y/N. I can’t get up.”  You heard the emotion in her voice and knew it must have been bad if your boss was calling you now. You jumped out of bed, grabbing your keys and some money before speaking.
“I’m on my way. I’m on my way.” You muttered before Wilhelmina had ended the call. You were panicked as you tied your shoes. You ran out to your car, speeding in the direction of Wilhelmina’s house.
-
When you had opened the door to Wilhelmina’s house, you shut the door and turned on a light.
“Ms. Venable?” You called, looking from room to room. You heard her call your name from upstairs and you ran up into the room you heard your name. The door was now wide open, and you saw Wilhelmina on her shower floor, her arms wrapped around her knee. You saw her phone and realised she must have always taken it to showers with her. You grabbed a towel before opening the shower door, covering your eyes with one hand and feeling around with the other and placing the towel over her shoulder.
You heard her shuffle, “Is it on you okay?” You asked and Wilhelmina responded with a quiet yes. You opened you eyes and saw the resigned look on her face. You placed you hand under her armpits and helped her up, once she was upright, you wrapped your arms around her and began walking out.
“Where to, Ms. Venable?” You asked, softly bur loud enough for her to hear. She pointed to a room.
“There.” She muttered and you could hear the humiliation in her voice. You rubbed her lower back slightly, walking over to her bedroom and opened the door. Her clothes and underwear were laying on the bed and you sat her down, kneeling in front of her.
“Can I dress you?” You asked, she looked away from you before nodding. You gently moved her wet fiery red hair out of her face. You wanted nothing more than to place a tender kiss on her forehead or to cuddle her and let her know you were there for her. But you were her assistant and she was your boss.
You grabbed her panties before putting her feet through gently before pulling them up, the towel hiding everything. You stood as you pulled them up fully and your head fell between her shoulder and head. Once you had pulled her underwear up properly, you placed your hand gently on her shoulders looking in her eyes.
“What are you thinking?” You asked, softly. Her eyes flickered away quickly before looking back in your eyes.
“You shouldn’t have to see me like this.” She stated, tears brimming her eyes. She looked down, avoiding your gaze. “Like a cripple. People don’t look at me the same after this.”
“Hey, now, everyone needs help sometimes. I mean, just last week I had to ask for help for something that’s really embarrassing.” You responded. Her eyes met yours.
“Really?” She asked and you nodded. “W-what was it?”
Her curiosity and need to be distracted made you sit beside on the bed, your left hand resting on her lower back again, her eyes locked with yours.
“It’s embarrassing but because it’s you, I’ll indulge. Last week, my car broke down and I had to take the train to work. But I was wearing a backpack and faced away from the door. The door squashed my bag and wet all the papers I had for you.” You confided, watching as she smiled. Before realisation hit her face.
“That’s when you said you had dropped them in a puddle? I knew that it did not make sense. It hadn’t rained.” You saw her smile grow and you oh so desperately wanted to lean in. You smiled in return.
“I’m never taking the train again, out of fear the know who I am.” You laughed. You both laughed for a moment before looking at her. “Can I finish getting you ready?”
Wilhelmina grew quiet for a moment before nodding. You got up from the bed and stood in front of her. You watched as she anxiously began to unwind her towel. You picked up her top and closed your eyes just before her towel was open. You felt for her shoulders and her hands grabbed yours.
“Open your eyes please, Y/N.” You kept them shut and moved your hands away.
“Ms. Venable, I—” You were cut off by her.
“Call me Wilhelmina.” She said and you nodded slightly.
“Wilhelmina, I don’t want to cross too many boundaries. You’re vulnerable right now and you’re still my boss.” You responded and her hands left yours and you moved yours away.
“I see.” She said tensely. You were about to speak when you heard her shuffling. You assumed she had put her towel back on and opened your eyes. She looked up at you with a clenched jaw. “Well, I didn’t realise you only came her because I’m your boss.”
“What—No- No. Wilhelmina, I’m here because I care about you not because you’re my boss. But I don’t want anything to happen that you regret.” You stumbled for an explanation, but Wilhelmina’s expression did not ease up.
“And what, pray tell, would I regret? You seeing my back?” She looked hurt and you sat beside her, trying to place your hand on her lower back again but as soon as you did, her hand grabbed yours and pushed it away.
“You really think I care about seeing your back? Me seeing your back will not change how I feel about you, is that what you think? If anything, it will only strength how I feel about you because you’re such a strong and powerful woman especially for someone who—” She cut you off again
“Has a disability?” She supplied with a tight-lipped expression. You shook your head.
“Stop cutting me off, Wilhelmina. I was going to say, someone who has been told that they cannot do it, cannot make it. But look at where you are now. You are HR at a multi-million-dollar robotics company! I do not think of you as some lesser being. I think of you as my equal, maybe even my superior because you are so smart, beautiful, powerful. I did not close my eyes because of your back. I closed them because you’re naked without that towel.” You muttered; Wilhelmina eyed you trying to see if you were bluffing.
“If you meant that, you’d look at my back and tell me it again.” Wilhelmina deadpanned and you nodded.
“Okay, show me then.” You said, placing your hand on her lower back. Wilhelmina looked at you to see if you were bluffing but you stared at her expectantly. She moved to the side slightly so you could have a better view before dropping the towel entirely.
Her spine at her lower back was fine but when it came to the top, it began bulging and had discoloured skin around it. Your heart ached for Wilhelmina and it didn’t make you disgusted. It only made you want to kiss her more.
Your hand reached up and gently glided against the skin, hearing Wilhelmina take in a deep breath, “Does it hurt?”
“A little bit. But I can cope. But sometimes it gets really tense.” She muttered, with the same humiliated voice as earlier. “What do you think?”
“I think…” You trailed off, before moving your hands to her shoulders and leaning in even closer. “I love you even more.” Your lips brushed against her ear, she turned again, to face you. Not realising her chest was bare. You however, kept your gaze strictly on her face.
“You love me?” She asked and you nodded, she leaned in to kiss you. It was soft, sweet and it made Wilhelmina forget her insecurities. She moved closer to you and you felt her chest rub against yours. You pulled back just as she wanted to heat it up more.
“Although kissing you is wonderful, I feel maybe a top is in order.” You looked at her chest and she nodded, cheeks heating up.
You stood again and moved away the towel before letting Wilhelmina lifting her arms and getting her head in. You pulled down her top below her stomach and looked at her before placing a kiss to her forehead.
“I love you too.” She murmured and you smiled against her.
She was your equal.
𝐌𝐮𝐬𝐭𝐲 | 𝐟𝐭. 𝐒.𝐇𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐭𝐚, 𝐓.𝐊𝐚𝐠𝐞𝐲𝐚𝐦𝐚, 𝐊.𝐊𝐨𝐳𝐮𝐦𝐞, & 𝐀.𝐌𝐢𝐲𝐚
Tumblr media
Synopsis: Mhm.
Contains: God so much second hand embarrassment, mega cringe, very not poggers
Posted: 1/30/2021
A/N: Ummmm so yeah... I definitely did not need to do this. At this point, I don’t even know if I wanted to do this. This is blatant slander and I hope you all will forgive me for the mess I’ve made :)
Edit: I’m adding this A/N after I’ve written everything...lmao sorry if these aren’t good, I’m too embarrassed for them to add more & also this was not proofread because it’s 1:30 AM and I need to wake up early to practice driving later
Tumblr media
𝐒.𝐇𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐭𝐚
I love Hinata, but he strikes me as the kid in elementary school who would bring one of those roller backpacks (with a flashy character, vibrant colors, idk like Lightening McQueen or something) and totally thought he was cool
Then at recess he would Naruto run all over the place (sometimes dragging along his backpack behind him)
Hinata is shameless and would definitely play with his food at lunch
I mean like making a well in his mashed potatoes and then pouring milk into it
He’s that one kid that rolls around in the dirt during P.E. and doesn’t mind the fact that he smells like someone mowed the grass and he was the lawn mower
At one point or another, he would get on all fours and bark at people
Believes the world is either pants or get pantsed
Was remembered as that kid in elementary school who threw up
𝐓.𝐊𝐚𝐠𝐞𝐲𝐚𝐦𝐚
I hate thinking about him in this way, but it’s been brought to my attention that Kageyama would 100% have greasy hair
That boy might take amazing care of his nails and hands, but I just know the reason his hair is so oily is because he uses conditioner on his scalp
Would save a milk carton and put it in his bag for later and then forget until like a week later when his books start smelling like liquid ass
So this isn’t inherently bad, I just don’t agree with it: he pours milk into his coffee cake *gags cutely*
Kageyama in his quiet, brooding nature, is the one person people are scared to upset in class because they’re afraid of what he might do
The “emo kid”
Blasted My Chemical Romance, Panic! at the Disco, & Twenty One Pilots at 8 AM with cheap ass headphones that came free with a shirt he got
Like Hinata, Kageyama barks at people...but with his eyes
Like he doesn’t verbally bark, but he probably growls
Thinks Hinata is absolutely disgusting for mixing his potatoes and milk
𝐊.𝐊𝐨𝐳𝐮𝐦𝐞
This boy wakes up at like 2 AM to play video games, I think we can unanimously agree that his room probably smells like sweaty gym socks dipped in Monster energy drink
He has bottles upon bottles of half drank water bottles littering his floor
Kuroo has offered to help him throw them out, but Kenma is low-key proud of his collection
He saves the Monster cans to make those can guns, and he has them up on a shelf above his window
Not to mention the literal trash all over his desk from when he would snack during his games/streams
The only thing remotely neat about his room are his games
I know he organizes them and has a bookshelf to display them on
Kenma is also the type to not be able to see the floor, but know where everything is
Laundry basket is filled to the brim and is spilling onto the ground (Kuroo is starting to get concerned and believes that something is either living in there or starting to grow in there)
Tumblr media
𝐀.𝐌𝐢𝐲𝐚
Not just because he bleaches his hair, but because of his haircare product choice, he has the most brittle, dry, crispy, dead hair
Osamu on the other hand probably takes really good care of his hair, and even offered some purple shampoo to Atsumu, which Tsumu declined because “My hair already looks great!”
Either doesn’t wash his face at all or uses a bar of soap
He covers up his...musk... with copious amounts of AXE body spray
Thinks he smells amazing, but Osamu’s nose literally burns just standing next him
Being best friends with Suna, he probably wears a fake gold chain, sags his pants just a bit, and says “mamas,” “shawty,” and “the boys”
April Contest Submission #4: Stupid For You
Words: ca. 6,100 Setting: Modern AU Lemon: No CW: None
Anna adjusts her car visor to block out as much of the sun as possible. Just because the weather feels nice enough to keep her windows down, doesn’t mean she’ll allow the sun cook her through the windshield.
It’s 2:25 PM on a Friday. Back in college, she would have been powering through her final class of the week, racing back to her dorm on her longboard, changing into her pajamas, and replaying the entire Mass Effect trilogy for the fifth time. Now, she spends it idling in the parking lot of West Arendelle Elementary, breathing in exhaust fumes from other idling cars, and pitifully swiping through a dating app.
And to be honest, she might like this routine a little more.
But only because, in a couple of minutes the bell will ring and her favorite ten-year-old will burst through the front doors, skip down to her car, and tap on the passenger windows with both hands.
Not that…she knows any other ten-year-olds, she only knows this one. She doesn’t have like a top ten list of favorite children.
Anyway yeah.
Anna presses against the corner of a parking sticker peeling off at the bottom of her windshield, knowing she’ll have to get a new one soon. The sound of her phone buzzing grabs her attention, and a little bit of hope rises in her as she checks the notification. Unfortunately, it’s just a text from her mother saying not to park behind her when she gets back home.
Anna grumbles, “I swear there’s like zero lesbians in this entire freaking city.”
She’s saved from her petty lamenting by the forementioned bell, and suddenly the barren entrance of the elementary school is buzzing with activity as children pour out of the doors in droves. Some are running, some are walking slowly with their group of friends, but only one of them is skipping.
Or at least Anna could only see one skipping since she wasn’t focusing on any other kid.
Gleefully making her way to Anna’s car is a little girl in a bright-blue skirt, a clean white polo, and a messy braid. Her hands are clutching the straps of her glittery backpack and her lunch box is hanging on for dear life around her neck.
Serah Langford, the self-proclaimed “cooliest” ten year-old in Arendelle.
Serah predictably taps her knuckles against the passenger window and Anna rolls it down. “What’s the password?” she asks.
“Fart Sniffer,” Serah says confidently.
Anna shakes her head, “That was last week’s password. What’s this week’s?”
Serah looks off in the distance and purses her lips. A second later, she says, “Alright I said it!”
“Say it out loud.”
Serah rolls her eyes and says in a dramatically bored voice, “Anna de Milo is the greatest, prettiest, most wonderful babysitter in the world and deserves a million dollars.”
Anna unlocks the door and grins, “That’s the one!”
The embarrassed fourth-grader shuffles into the car, placing her bag by her feet, her lunch box in her lap, and her phone plugged into the AUX cord. Anna would be offended if they didn’t have the exact same taste in music.
A babysitting job wasn’t at the top of her list after she graduated, but when months passed and she exhausted all the search results for “Writer” on Indeed, she was starting to get desperate. Her mother advised her to look for any job so at the very least she could have a steady source of income while she continued to look for writing gigs.
That’s when she found Bizzybee.
Bizzybee is a company that prides itself on being “Tinder for babysitters”, which is a horrible vision statement but she kept from mentioning that during her interview. After a surprisingly long assessment process, Anna was placed into their system and she was free to take on any babysitting/housesitting job she wanted based on the profile of the parent and their needs. Everyone started with the same hourly rate, but with enough good reviews she would be eligible for raises.
The first five families she worked for weren’t a good fit for different reasons (one of the fathers actually tried to make a move on her, which is an entirely different, creepier story). She was beginning to lose hope until she stumbled on the profile of a recently divorced mother named Elsa Langford.
From the very first interview with Elsa, Anna knew she’d finally found the right babysitting job for her. She and Serah hit it off right away, and they worked out a Monday-Friday schedule which allowed Anna to continue searching for jobs while still getting great hours.
Six months later and, despite a couple of job offers, Anna decided to stay on as Serah’s babysitter. It was risky and not at all the path she set out for herself after college, but she found herself enjoying babysitting much more than she thought she would. And because of that, she stayed.
Well…that, and another reason.
Anna snuck a peek inside the lunch box at a red light and frowned at the unopened bag of cookies inside. “Seriously?! I thought you liked Chips Ahoy!”
“Only the chewy ones,” Serah argued.
“They can get chewy if you dip them in milk.” Anna waved the bag obnoxiously close to the little girl’s face. “These things are expensive, you know.”
“They’re $20 on Amazon if you buy them in bulk.”
“$20 is still a lot of money.” The light’s turned green, so Anna has to open the bag with her teeth. When she does so successfully, she pours a couple of the cookies right into her mouth. Chewing with righteous indignation, she says, “You know what you can buy with $20?”
“Dinner with my mom?”
Anna almost chokes on the cookies.
She hears Serah giggling up a storm while handing her a water bottle to keep from dying. After downing half the bottle, Anna takes a deep breath and gets back into the center of her lane to ensure neither of them is going to die. “Serah! What did I tell you about saying that kinda stuff while I’m driving?!”
Serah bounces proudly in her seat, “Well maaaaybe if you didn’t have a crush on my mom, I wouldn’t have to bring it up.”
“It’s not…I’m not…” Anna slumps in her chair, wondering why she even bothers denying it. “Whatever.”
Yes, she has a big, stupid gay crush on the mom of the kid she’s babysitting. But have you seen Elsa Langford? She’s gorgeous. Pale skin, light blonde hair always in a neat, tight ponytail, eyes like calm pools of water, and a killer body she worked tirelessly on after giving birth to Serah. Anna had to drink three glasses of water just to get through the interview with her.
But there’s nothing to it, and nothing’s gonna happen anyway. It’s just a crush.
A stupid, dumb, big, stupid, fleeting, doesn’t-mean-anything, stupid crush on a stupid, sexy mom.
It’s stupid.
[Line Break]
Anna pulls right into the driveway of the Langford’s small, one-story house. It’s in the middle of a long suburbian row of houses that look nearly identical in their mundanity, but this one always stands out to Anna. Not because she’s been to this house countless times, but also because it’s got a vibrant feel to it; like you can feel two main characters live here. Serah skips over to her front door with Anna close behind. She notices the grass is getting a little tall and wonders if Elsa might need some help mowing it this weekend.
She unlocks the front door and Serah immediately takes off her shoes by the front door, places her lunch box on the kitchen table, and hums to herself while she walks to her room. The schedule used to be on the fridge, but by this point Anna’s memorized it.
Make a light snack for Serah, help her with her homework before dinner’s done, clean around the house (that’s not a requirement, Anna just does it), make sure she doesn’t watch the next episode of Grey’s Anatomy on Netflix yet, and then kick back until Elsa gets home. In between this time, Serah continues to tease her about her crush.
It’s been like that for weeks now, ever since Serah stole her phone one day and read the text Kristoff sent to her about Elsa. The subsequent conversation about what a “MILF” was didn’t exactly help things either.
This time, however, is different. Around 7 PM, while they’re watching an episode of American Ninja Warrior, Serah says something that doesn’t sound like a joke.
“She’d say yes, you know.”
“What are you talking about?” Anna asks cautiously.
“If you asked my mom out, she’d say yes.”
Unsure of how she’s supposed to react, Anna goes with an uncomfortable snort/laugh, “Wh- stop it. Stop kidding around, that’s…that’s silly.”
Serah shrugs like she didn’t say something crazy, and then she proceeds to say something even crazier, “She talks about you all the time.”
“Well yeah, I mean duh. I’m the babysitter,” Anna says like that’s supposed to be her superhero identity.
“No, she doesn’t talk about babysitting stuff.”
Finally, unable to help her curiosity, Anna asks, “What does she talk about then?”
Of course, she doesn’t get a chance to hear the answer. The front door unlocks and the woman they were just talking about arrives from work. Serah rushes to greet her mom and Anna stays sitting to let them spend their mother-daughter time together. And also because, like usual, she’s trying to figure out how to greet Elsa.
She decides on a cheerful “Hi!” followed by asking how work went; it’s casual and unassuming, but shows she cares about her. With that game plan prepared, she takes a quick breath, stands up, and walks over to the happy, little family.
“Hi!” she says with a practiced wave of her hand, though her voice is a little higher pitched than she’d like it to be.
Elsa’s clearly tired by the look of her, but when she smiles at Anna it feels like she’s genuinely happy to see her. Which of course makes Anna’s stomach do backflips, especially when Elsa walks over to her and gives her a hug. Even after taking off her heels, the exhausted banker still has a couple of inches on her.
“How are you?” she asks with her sweet, caring voice.
Anna tries to ignore the faint, flowery scent of perfume on Elsa’s neck, and the intrusive thought of wanting to hold her until all of Elsa’s troubles melt away. “Doing good,” she finally answers with her voice still an octave too high.
Elsa pulls away far too soon, keeping Anna at arm’s length while the younger woman is trying her best to pretend she doesn’t want to know how those lips would feel against hers. “Well let me write you a check and you can head out.”
What? No! Thinking fast, she replies, “No, you look exhausted. You can just rest, you don’t need to pay me right away.” Which is a lie, she has bills due next week.
“No I’d feel terrible if I let you go empty-handed. Trust me, it’ll only take a few minutes.”
“Ms. Langford, it’s okay. I’m in no rush tonight. Give yourself a minute to breathe, at least.”
Elsa frowns, but whatever she’s about to say gets interrupted by a long yawn. “Okay fine, if you can give me half an hour, I’ll have your check ready by then.”
“Sounds perfect!” Anna squeaks.
“And again, you don't have to call me Ms. Langford. Elsa’s fine.”
Elsa pats her on the shoulder and walks over to her room, Anna gets a glimpse of it before the door shuts and she can’t help but wonder what it would be like to be in Elsa’s room one day. Her shameful thought is interrupted by someone bumping her hip.
She looks down and sees Serah with a smug grin on her face.
“Oh hush,” Anna says.
[Line Break]
Anna hates taking breaks, and she especially hates days off. Not just because that’s one less day she gets to see Elsa, but also because that’s who she is as a person. Days she isn’t working provide zero structure, and she forgets how to be a human being without a structure.
The weekends, then, are a tumultuous time for her. If she doesn’t have pre-made plans with her friends, she’ll spend the days thinking about doing everything, inevitably end up doing nothing, and then dragging herself out of the house to do something.
This particular Saturday, that “something” happens to be grocery shopping. With a list that only has “Eggs?” on it, she ventures through every single aisle, wondering if she could get herself hungry enough to buy whatever she’s currently looking at.
So far, aside from the eggs, there’s only one other thing in her cart. And it’s not even for her.
“Pop-Tarts…I don’t know, they might sound good later.” She reaches to grab a box of the frosted strawberry ones but waves it off at the last second. Maybe the next aisle will have something she thinks absentmindedly as her cart almost hits the person in front of her.
Who somehow happens to be Elsa.
“Hi! Hey! Wow hi!” Anna says while Elsa looks at her like she’s genuinely startled. “H-hey there, Ms. Langford.”
After registering that the person yelling at her isn’t a threat, Elsa smiles. “Anna! It’s so wonderful to see you.” She looks as if she’s going to take a step towards Anna, but changes her mind at the last second.
Unfortunately, Anna took that as a cue to also step forward and didn’t move back fast enough. So now, she’s just standing between both carts like she’s commandeering both. “I-I didn’t know you went grocery shopping. Here, I mean. I’m sure you shop, but like…I live near here. Like five minutes away actually.”
Elsa chuckles, and honestly it sounds like honey-dipped guitar strings. But less sticky, and more sexy. “Well I was in the area dropping Serah off to her karate lesson, so I figured I might as well do some shopping while I wait.”
Right, Serah started her lessons last week. She told Anna that she was super excited about “getting to punch bricks and stuff”. Still unsure if she should move yet, Anna adds, “Well I like this place a lot. It’s like one of my top ten places to be- to go. Maybe top five.”
“I’ll make sure to keep that in mind,” Elsa grins like she really is happy to have run into her. She shifts her gaze down and remarks, “Oh, that’s a really nice chopping board.”
Oh. Right. The chopping board’s…still in her cart. Anna lifts it up and holds it like she’s showing off the finest new features in chopping board technology. “Yeah thanks, it’s on sale actually.”
“That’s good news, I’m looking to replace the one we have. I’m tired of scraping plastic off my chicken when I’m cutting it.” Anna knows this, of course, because Elsa’s muttered it to herself every time she’s in the kitchen. “Which aisle did you find that in?”
Forgetting why she has the chopping board in the first place, Anna holds it out and says, “Oh it’s okay, you can just have this one?”
“Are you sure? Don’t you need it?”
Now remembering why she has it, Anna shamefully pulls it away, “Yes. I mean no. No I don’t, I don’t need it. It’s in my cart, but I don’t need it.”
Elsa’s eyes narrow, “I-I’m sorry, I’m confused.”
Well this is happening. And it’ll be even more awkward to explain things if she shows up with the chopping board on Monday. She sighs, finally admitting defeat, “I…I heard you mention you needed a new chopping board, so I wanted to get one for you. This one, actually. This is the one I was going to buy. And then give it to you on Monday.”
Elsa goes from confused to flattered in a second, and much like all of her expressions there’s an inarguable authenticity to it. There’s no exaggerated gasp or a drawn-out “Awww”, instead there’s a smile that could melt a million hearts and a casual touching of Anna’s upper arm.
“I knew I picked a good one,” Elsa says, oblivious to the screaming and fireworks occurring in Anna’s head.
“Ah, i-it’s nothing really. I’m using my paycheck, so in a way you’re buying it yourself haha,” Anna tries to laugh but she squeaks like someone’s just pumped her full of helium.
“Nonetheless, you’ve helped lift so much stress off your shoulders and I want to show how much I appreciate you.” Elsa straightens up a little and looks at the frazzled redhead curiously, “What do you think about coffee?”
“You mean like a coupon?” Anna shakes her head. “I mean a gift card?”
Elsa opens her mouth to respond, but another thought seemingly goes through her head and she purses her lips. A second later, she smiles again, “Yes. Like a gift card. Young people still drink Starbucks, right?”
Anna scoffs, “Ms. Langford, you’re only nine years older than me.”
“And yet you still insist on calling me ‘Ms. Langford’, which always makes me feel much older than I actually am.”
A ton of bricks falls on Anna as she realizes her grave mistake. “Oh my goodness, Ms. La- ah I mean I uh…I’m so sorry. I didn’t- I mean that wasn’t my intention. You’re young, a-and beautiful, and still in your prime. No you haven’t even reached your prime yet! If I made you feel like you weren’t, I’m-”
She’s silenced by the feel of Elsa’s hand coming to rest on…her shoulder? Well that’s new. And exciting. Anna focuses half of her mind on calming down and the other half on what Elsa’s saying.
“Relax Anna, it was just a joke. You can call me whatever you want.” Though Elsa’s voice is reassuring, her smile has a glint of proud mischief from catching her off-guard. “I’m not about to police my favorite babysitter on what words she can use.”
Anna tries to speak but finds her throat too dry. She clears it and tries again, “Really? I’m your favorite babysitter? You’re not just saying that?”
“I went through far too many babysitters before I found you,” Elsa lets out a breathy laugh, eyes glancing to the side as if she’s remembering back to the years she’d had to find the right fit to take care of Serah. Anna wonders what makes her so different from the others, but thinks that’s too invasive to ask. “You’re the best.”
The casual yet loaded compliments and the feel of Elsa’s fingers so close to her bare skin combine to create a dangerous, stomach-churning reaction in Anna. One that sets all her impulses alight, screaming at her to kiss Elsa.
Before she even has the chance to compose herself, Elsa’s already pulled away and is back by the safety of the handrails on her cart. “Well I think I’ve used up enough of your time this weekend. And besides, I need to find something for dinner tonight. I’ll see you Monday, okay?”
Anna blinks, still trying to register things that happened five minutes ago. “Uh yeah, no problem. Sounds great,” she replies without knowing what she’s saying.
Elsa smiles at her and turns the corner, disappearing from direct sight. After an eternity of standing at the end of the aisle like an idiot, Anna groans and covers her face with her hands.
“Stupid,” she mumbles to herself.
[Line Break]
“The evil scientist shouted, ‘This ain’t over, Super Gal! One day-”
Anna presses the buzzer she bought at a dollar store. “There’s no such thing as the word 'ain’t’,” she corrects.
Serah groans, “You’re the worst.”
“You asked a girl with an English degree for help with your story. What did you expect would happen?” Anna taps against the table like an evil villain.
’“I didn’t expect you to not go easy on-”
Anna presses the buzzer again. “Double negative!”
“I’m not even writing!” Serah protests.
“My buzzer, my rules.”
The sound of the front door opening interrupts them bickering like long-lost sisters. Instead of running over to greet Elsa by the door, Serah shouts with exasperation, “Moooom! Anna’s being a jerk!”
“Well that’s what happens when you ask an English major to look over your story, honey,” Elsa replies.
Anna gives Serah a smug grin, the little girl sticks her tongue out in response. Elsa joins them at the dinner table, the tiredness on her face is less concerning tonight but Anna catches her wince when she sits down.
“You okay?” she asks.
Elsa smiles, “Fell off a ladder at work.”
“Oh my gosh, how bad does it hurt? I could-” Anna has to take a pause to let the unhelpful thought of massaging Elsa’s back go away. “-get you some ibuprofen or an ice pack.”
“Thank you, Anna, but I’m sure I’ll be fine in the morning once I sleep it off. After all, I’m not even in my prime yet.” Elsa winks at her, and Anna has to pretend her insides haven’t turned to jelly.
“Is this like that time you fell in the bathroom while trying to pull your pants up?” Serah asks.
“Serah!” Elsa hides her face in her hands, though it’s still possible to tell the remorse she feels through her voice. “Why did I even tell you that story?”
Serah feigns innocence and shrugs, “Because I’m your daughter and you like telling me things?”
Elsa sticks her tongue out in response and it’s much cuter than it has any right to be. Unable to help herself, Anna asks, “Are you sure I can’t do anything for you? I mean like with your back…or whatever.”
Elsa rests her head against one of her hands and doesn’t try to hold back the tiredness in her smile this time. “You’re very sweet, Anna, but I’ll be okay. Just need some rest.” She mumbles afterward, “And a vacation…”
Anna lets her mind wander for a second, thinking of what it would feel like to take Elsa somewhere she could unwind. Like to a spa, or a lake. Elsa feels like the kind of person who finds solitude near water. In her mind, she sees Elsa in a baby blue sundress and a wide brim hat, looking out at the crystal clear waters from a creaky, wooden dock. She sees herself walking down the same dock and Elsa turning to her with a smile, holding a hand out and beckoning her to come over.
“What do you think, Anna?”
The wishful thought dissipates, and Anna’s pulled back into reality by a question she’s not ready for. “Sorry, I was uh…thinking of a story idea. What were you guys talking about?”
Thankfully not asking where Anna’s mind was really at, Elsa repeats herself, “Serah was wondering if you wanted to go to her play tomorrow.”
“I’m playing a tree!” Serah says proudly.
This invitation comes as a wonderful surprise. Serah’s been hyping this play up for forever, but Anna always assumed she would want Elsa to be there. “Oh, I…did something happen? Can you not make it?”
“Oh, I wouldn’t dare miss seeing my little girl play the part of Tree #2. But I really-”
Serah clears her throat obnoxiously loud.
“Right. We would really love it if you came. Tickets are free, but they’ll be selling popcorn and soda for $2.”
“You can sit next to my mom!” Serah adds, and her failed blink shows she knows exactly what she’s implying. It feels odd having a ten-year-old be her wing woman, but Anna’s learning to roll with it.
“No pressure, though,” Elsa says while wringing her hands together. “It’s on a Friday night, and I know you might already have plans.”
“I don’t,” Anna responds far too fast.
Elsa’s eyes widen in surprise, “Oh. Then do you want to go?”
The chance to sit next to Elsa for an hour in a dark auditorium? Anna would be an idiot to pass that opportunity up. And it isn’t lost on her that it felt like Elsa was about to say she would personally love it if she went.
“Sure, I’d love to go.”
[Line Break]
Far too many questions are still punching Anna in the brain as she pulls into West Arendelle Elementary’s parking lot and walks towards the auditorium. Should she have eaten something beforehand? Is she overdressed? Is she underdressed? Should she have texted Elsa to coordinate outfits? What if this is all some elaborate prank to make fun of her for her stupid mom crush? Did she sweat through her shirt? Is it noticeable?
Her crazy thoughts are interrupted by her phone buzzing. She pulls it out of the back pocket of her jeans and sees it’s a text from Elsa. She’s waiting by the door so they can find some seats together.
Well, that eases her worry about trying to find Elsa in a crowded auditorium. Though crowded might be an understatement. It’s a fourth-grade play, not an opera at The Met.
Once inside, Anna takes a second to admire the impressive renovations of what used to be a musty, old gymnasium (they even put in carpets and sound dampeners). But she’s not here to appraise this place, she’s here to root for her favorite fourth grader/tree and keep the ogling of Elsa to a minimum-
Holy baloney, Elsa’s wearing a dress.
It’s got blue-and-white stripes, short sleeves, and a similar colored waist sash. And instead of her hair being in a tight ponytail, the nearly silver locks fall across her shoulders and down her back.
It’s casual, it’s cute, it’s gorgeous, it’s beautiful, and it’s a stark reminder of how absolutely smitten Anna is.
“I was getting worried you might not show up,” Elsa says with a smile akin to the one she showed off at the grocery store.
Up close, Anna also notices a thin, snowflake necklace around Elsa’s slender neck and she’s already failed in keeping her ogling to a minimum. “You can always trust me to keep my promises, Ms. Langford,” she says with a goofy grin meant to reflect something called confidence.
“I’ll keep that in mind,” Elsa responds.
Feeling like she has to mention it, and also because her brain’s still currently fried from seeing an angel, Anna adds, “You look beautifuller. I-I mean not like fuller, I just mean you look more beautiful than usual. Oh gosh, not that you usually look bad because you don’t. You never look bad, you’re-”
Elsa lays a hand on Anna’s shoulder again, which might as well be her reset button. “Anna, do me a favor and take a breath.”
Anna takes a breath.
“Good job. Now let’s go find some seats, okay?”
Anna follows her, too caught up on the feeling of being told she did a good job.
They find a spot at the end of an aisle and close enough to the stage that Serah will be able to find them without looking too hard. Elsa takes the seat on the left, Anna takes the seat on the right. They don’t start talking again right away, not until the conversations all across the auditorium become a blanket of white noise.
And then Elsa lets out a breath, “This feels nice.”
Anna turns to her and notices her eyes are closed, but she still commits to perfect posture so it looks like she’s meditating. “What do you mean?” Anna asks.
“Being…present. Not having to rush to make dinner or beat traffic or anything like that. It feels nice to have a break and just be.”
Anna finds it hard to understand what constitutes this as a break, but then again she isn’t a mother. And she doesn’t know much about what it means to take a break anyway.
Elsa tilts her head like she’s about to rest it on Anna’s shoulder, but instead, she turns to look at her. “Thank you again.”
“For the chopping board?”
“For the chopping board, for taking care of Serah, for being someone I can trust…for everything. It’s hard to- I mean you know it hasn’t been easy for me relationship-wise.”
Anna nods. Learning about Elsa’s divorce and her subsequent failed relationships was a part of why she took this job in the first place. She sympathized with the single mother and knew even then that Elsa could really use someone to have her back too.
“So thank you, for being my…the person I needed through all this. My knight in shining armor.”
The lights haven’t dimmed yet, so she needs to hope the blush on her cheeks isn’t too noticeable. She bites the inside of her cheek to keep from smiling too wide, and then says, “Well, outstanding service is the Bizzybee guarantee.” It’s supposed to be a playful joke, but Elsa doesn’t seem to take it as such.
She frowns, “Do you really only see this as a job?”
This is different, but it doesn’t feel like a good different. Elsa doesn’t usually look like she’s staring into her soul, and she hasn’t asked anything this personal since the initial interview. To Anna, the answer is obvious, but she’s also caught up on wondering what answer Elsa wants to hear. If she says the wrong thing, will she lose her job? What’s the right thing to say? When did it get so warm? And is that citrus she smells in Elsa’s hair? Gosh, why is she so weird?
Shrinking further underneath Elsa’s stone-cold curiosity, Anna finally decides to approach this with honesty. “No,” she starts far too softly. “No, I think I would probably do anything for you…r family. You mean a lot to me. Y-you and Serah, I mean.”
She really hopes that doesn’t sound like a confession. The last thing she wants to do is get fired and have to run out of an elementary school auditorium in tears.
A soft, warmth presses against her hand that’s been resting on her seat. Anna looks down and sees Elsa’s hand on top of where hers should be. If this is a dream, then she never wants to wake up.
“Thank you for saying that,” Elsa replies just as softly.
Finally, the lights dim and the principal is on the stage talking about how hard the fourth-graders have worked on this rendition of The Giving Tree. And maybe it means nothing, but Elsa still hasn’t pulled away. Anna pushes away the thought of her own hand being too sweaty, and the notion that this could be a fulfillment of her craziest wish. Right now, she just tries to enjoy the feeling.
Serah turned out to be an excellent Tree #2.
[Line Break]
Next Monday, everything falls apart.
Or at least that’s what it feels like is going to happen when Elsa gets back from work and immediately asks Serah to go to her room so they can talk alone.
Anna’s never seen her this distraught before. Her ponytail is poorly put together, she’s not wearing any makeup, and there’s a coffee stain below her collar. When she asks if she can do anything to help, Elsa’s response is a quick but harsh, “No.”
She stiffens up. “Oh. O-okay, I’m sorry.”
Elsa shakes her head, places her hand on top of one of the kitchen chairs, but then pulls back like it’s hot to the touch. “Could we maybe sit on the couch?”
Right now, Elsa could tell her to cut off her hand and Anna would do it. She nearly trips walking the five feet from the kitchen to the living room couch, and tries to take up the least amount of space as possible when she sits down. Elsa sits on the far side, clutching a pillow to her chest with her mind probably anywhere else but here.
It’s not a good sight, and Anna’s not only worried about the safety of her job, but Elsa’s condition. She purses her lips to keep from saying anything stupid, and hopes this isn’t the horrible nightmare she’s expecting it to be.
Elsa closes her eyes tight, “I’m afraid I have to let you go, Anna.”
Anna completely deflates. Had she not been expecting this, it would have come as a greater shock to her. But when she pushed her luck at the play by trying to hold Elsa’s hand…she knew her days as a babysitter were numbered. “I understand,” she says sadly.
“I don’t think you do,” Elsa replies, quickly turning to look at Anna. Her eyes look like they’re pleading with her, like she doesn’t want to do this. “You were amazing, and I will give you the best endorsement for any job you apply for. But after the play-”
“I know. I was out of line.”
There’s a tense, awkward second of silence where the two women are looking at each other with equal levels of guilt and remorse. Though their reasons are vastly different. Elsa sighs and places the final nail in the coffin, “No, you weren’t.”
…what?
“Anna, I wanted you to hold my hand.”
What?
“You did?” Anna asks, trying her best to curb her optimism. This can’t possibly be going the way she thinks it is.
Elsa nods, “I’m not- well okay, first of all, I don't want to fire you. Serah, she thinks of you as her big sister, and the thought of separating you two tears me up. But this needs to happen because I…having you around…I feel something for you.”
“Feel something?” Maybe someday she’ll be able to say more than two sentences again.
Again, Elsa closes her eyes. A sternness falls on her face which Anna can tell she’s had to use a lot “Say it out loud,” Elsa mutters.
“What’s wrong?”
One agonizing moment later, Elsa reopens her eyes, and the guilt in them has worsened. “I-I’m attracted to you, Anna, and it’s getting to me. Really bad. I can’t sleep without thinking of you, I got a ticket for speeding a couple of weeks ago because I couldn’t wait to get home to you and Serah, and when you held my hand? Gosh, I felt something I never felt with anyone I’ve ever been with. I have feelings for you, and I have to let you go before I do something I might regret.”
She’s not dreaming, Anna knows that for sure because there’s no weird fog around her and Elsa doesn’t have a horse head. Yet she still can’t wrap her mind around the fact that this is happening.
Elsa Langford, the most beautiful mom- hell, the most beautiful woman- she’s ever known has just confessed she has feelings for her.
But she has to know for certain, so she finally musters up the lucidity to ask more than two words. “Do you really mean that?”
Elsa laughs. But it’s not a “gotcha” laugh, it’s a deeply embarrassed, caught-in-the-act laugh Anna’s far too familiar with. “Yes. I like you a lot.”
That’s all the confirmation she needs. With all the social grace of a bowling ball tumbling down the stairs, Anna responds. “I like you a lot too. Like attractively, I-I mean romantically.”
Elsa’s eyes widen, “Really?”
Anna shows off her expertly crafted awkward laugh. “Of course! You’re sweet, caring, and you’re so beautiful I bet a potato sack would look good on you. When I look at you or even think of you, I just see like rainbows and flutes and warm stuff like blankets or bedrooms- I uh, I mean like…soup. It was just a stupid crush at first, but honestly I don’t think I’ve ever felt this strongly for anyone before. Elsa, you’re a dream come true.”
Elsa’s pale complexion makes the redness that appears on her cheeks much brighter and more beautiful than Anna could ever imagine. This magical moment…it’s something she’ll always cherish and will never forget.
“I love the way you say my name,” Elsa says quietly.
“It’s a very pretty name,” Anna adds.
“Gosh, just kiss each other already!” Serah shouts from the hallway.
They talk for another hour. Despite the looming threat of being fired disappearing, Anna still agrees it’s best she stops working for Elsa. There’s now a conflict of interest, and the last thing they want is for either of them to get in trouble. Which means it’s back to job hunting. On the bright side, however, Anna can now come over whenever she wants so Serah will still have her “big sister”.
As for her and Elsa, they both agree to take things slow to make sure they won’t drive each other crazy. In a bad way, obviously. They both have big, stupid crushes on each other, but with Elsa’s track record for relationships and Anna’s overall social awkwardness, it’s clear that attraction will only get them so far. They have to work for this, if this was something to work for. Nonetheless, they remain optimistic and their first date is set for next week.
Elsa just needs to find a babysitter first.
