On the day of Saint Blaise (February 3rd) it's traditional in many areas to eat some food that is said to help cure throat ache —a common annoyance in this time of the year and one of the things that Saint Blaise protects against.

Last year I posted the blaiets cookies, and this year I post another one. In Western Catalonia, it's traditional to eat cristines de Sant Blai, a brioche filled with whipped cream, custard cream or truffle, and topped with smashed almond and powdered sugar. Like with other Saint Blaise foods, it's said that eating it on this day will make Saint Blaise protect you against catching a cold.
