I spent 5 years working hospital finance watching the way health insurance directly affected my patients, and oftentimes seeing the ways lack of access to affordable healthcare resulted in chronic and emergent conditions, and even death. I cannot stress enough that I literally saw people die because their insurance denied them treatment. And on the billing side, the things people would complain about to me as something the doctors or hospital were doing wrong were usually a direct result of the way health insurance runs everything. It’s disgusting.

At the end of the series, he has a call to action - ways we (as regular people) can help work to improve healthcare (other than pushing for universal healthcare/Medicare for all). A lot of people talk about how ridiculous US Healthcare is but rarely do I see anyone talking about what we can do to change it. I think this is the most important video of all, so I’m including it here.

I'm going back and forth playing phone tag with Blue cross and Blue shield (insurance company) cause I cut off service with them months ago and they're trying to charge me money dispite me not being a client. Plus they're trying to charge me nearly a $1000 dollars for it because I didn't give them paperwork...for a month...that I wasn't a client...

First person I called: We have no record of your cancelation

Me: that's hardly my fault

First perseon: *after a while* Let me transfer you to someone who will be better able to help

Second person: *confirms on the recorded line that they see my original cancelation from months ago as well as the cancelation that was done just then by the previous person who transfered me to stop any new payments*

Me: so this was an error on your guys end. Cool. Please fix this

Me: *gets another bill a week later and has to call them AGAIN*

Does anyone have info about hrt under highmark bcbs? Im off my moms insurance at the end of November and my work uses them. They do cover it from what i can find, but something i read say they require 3 months of seeing a therapist or smth??? And my old insurance didnt have that requirement so ive never done that.
