was kinda thinking about this when I saw Renee Rapp live recently-- I didn't know her visual vibe, I'd heard a few songs here and there but I hadn't really *seen* her, and her attire at Osheaga was really casual, a jersey (baseball/basketball?) and slacks. And that was so amazing! I couldn't help thinking, the work Billie Eilish has done for how women in pop music are allowed to dress is incredible. Seeing her up there all comfortable you just know that Billie walked in her oversized tops so that Renee in her slacks could run; Billie walked through all the critcisms about how she dressed slobbily and having to assert that she didn't owe anyone a display of skin, so that Renee could be comfortable and unquestioned running up and down the catwalk in front of 10,000 people. How iconic.

And I don't think we even realised at the time how much something as simple as letting Billie dress the way she as a (then-) 17-year-old teenager dressed, could end up meaning for a future generation of women in music.

Obviously there is still way to go, there were weirdos complaining about how 'plain' Dua Lipa's Glastonbury outfit was this year (in 2024!!), l have to ask, are you at Paris Fashion Week?? She is the musical HEADLINER of an entire day of music at one of the biggest music festivals in the world, and you can't grant her the space to exist as an artist, you have to moan about her dress not being excitingly revealing enough. There's work to do, it's still dismal out there. But the space Billie Eilish has created for a most ordinarily-dressed woman popstar is still heartening.

Some fun Billie Eilish moments from my show 11/16 KC, MO

-these were some shots at the beginning because of how hard (not soft) the fog machine was working

-the stage was shaped like an “8” or “B”

-there were a couple of moments where Billie picked up a handheld camera and got some closeups and footage of her band/ backup singers, under the stage, and the audience and it was a super silly and cool way to get a different POV

-she said she added the song “Your Power” to her he set again due to recent events and told the women in the room that we were in a safe space. She performed the song acoustic (she played guitar) and her 2 female background singers sat on stools looking at each other. I was emotional

-she projected the Guess music video while she prepared for her part of the song and then switched back to the regular concert and it was seamless and so fun

-there was a huge box-like prop that was actually 4 light display panels that worked as tv screens and it would rise and lower with an option for Billie to stand in it. Someone’s just the bottom platform would move and she would perform raised

-the lighting was very intricate and intentional as well as the visuals

-she had the whole crowd go silent so she could record the layers of her voice in real time to be used as the backing vocals for “When the Party’s Over”. It was one of my favorite parts without a doubt

apologies the 9th episode of the season

when he starts to really think about claire and actually giving an apology

this is when he is ruminating in his apartment in the dark (literally) and niel goes to talk to claire because carmy is really lost and no one can snap him out of it he’s likely feeling that stress about the situation with the restaurant and critics this is likely when the faks assemble the photos and richie maybe or just fak is pressing about apologizing to claire writing that on the board

fak might have done something with claire maybe invited her to the restaurant again or just having meddled with claire in general landed him in trouble and that’s when he’s nervously pouring water (i imagine carmy having a heated moment in the kitchen and he’s trying to avoid the fire that he started)

carmy’s probably having flashbacks about the christmas dinner as well when donna crashed the car and the conversation he had with claire about what happened that night brought up when they were dating i think we’ll be seeing this conversation how he talked to her about it was important and i wondered what it was like

I still can’t believe Billie Eilish didn’t win anything at the Grammys. I thought for sure she’d get something, especially with how WILDLY big hmhas was.
