Some rearranging and new items have been added finally, still more to come including tank size upgrades once I figure things out for that.

• Nova needs a bigger tank now that she has grown into such a big girl 🥹 the current tank she's in allows her to stretch out fully at least still and I finally got it looking all nice again 💖

• Ares needs *some* light floor decor, too much and I might as well be feeding the Velociraptors from Jurassic Park 💀

• Vegeta needs a longer tank and is on tile and paper towels due to having issues with loose substrate in his eye and causing infection and very minor scarring to one eye so vet recommended tile and paper towels 🥲

Snoot (Western Hognose) now lives with my partner currently.

Tarkin for a while has had a mass on his nose that the vet and I had been hoping would just handle itself but alas it did not.

Last month he got to have some surgery and some tests and got the granuloma removed. Stitches were taken out yesterday, but due to his very icky albeit hilarious cherry flavored antibiotics he's now on i didn't hold him down for any pictures.

We've got him on a daily soak and every other day antibiotic rotation for the next month to make sure the infection clears itself up, but overall he's looking great!

Removed stitches look great and his nose looks so much better.

I'm still mourning but that doesn't mean I can neglect the rest of the reptiles. Crux was due for an upgrade and waiting for my roommate to move his fish tank wasn't happening any time soon.

She desperately needed the space to stretch out and climb. I believe this was the best upgrade I could provide her at this time.

an introduction!

I'm a third-year biomedical engineering student at uni with a strong interest in brain-computer interfaces.

I sort of stumbled into this major, actually. I came to uni aiming to pursue human rights work, immigration law, or international law. And only after a year and a half of exploration, through random class choices and the privilege of many avenues of peer mentorship, was I able to redefine my answer to the scary question of "what now?" post-secondary schooling.

Outside of academics, I'm a writer (poetry, and hopefully will work up to a novel), average crafts hobbyist, and pseudo-polyglot.

This blog will be a little bit of everything! I hope, in some ways, it can become a digital journal, and share a some of the many, many highs of uni with the world (hi!), but I also hope to share my journey to learning the foundations of and eventually working with BCIs.

It's a highly interdisciplinary field, and so, like many engineering topics, it's difficult to know exactly how and where to enter. Even posts with useful self-study links usually require an entry level of understanding in the basics of electrical engineering, materials science, and coding. And so, I hope we can figure it out together, or that you can learn from my own stumbling as I learn. And if you're not sure you picked the right niche or you're questioning making the huge jump from humanities to STEM, or vise versa, there's a place for you here too.

2024 was certainly...a year. It was a very surprising year for me, with many unexpected ups, and some unexpected downs. This past fall was especially difficult for me, academically and personally. I can't say I'm particularly proud of my performance this term, and MD-PhD applications loom in the distance...

But, frankly, sh** happens. It does. Sometimes that means failure. What matters is not letting one slip, one fall deter you from your path.

So, in spirit of getting up and continuing the journey, I'm going to take you all with me :)

I'm so excited! My baby Hog Island Boa (Boa imperator), a dwarf locality, is arriving Wednesday! Originally the breeder didn't think he'd be able to ship him until later this month, for his own scheduling resources, but he's arriving this week!

He's a baby, so he's still tiny, and he'll likely never get bigger than four feet, which is why I specifically sought out a Hog Island boa. They are a locality of the Central American Boa imperator (formerly known as the BCI) and they're confined to a chain of small Honduran islands, the Cayos de Cochinos Islands. Only 2 islands have freshwater, and that's where these snakes can be found!

For a long time, a boa has been on my list of dream snakes, but it can be difficult (and expensive) to find pure Hog Island lines, but this one is, and the breeder has great references and history in the hobby.

His name is Maggid because I'm a writer, and some other pets' names I have are: Saga (bearded dragon), Fable (Blue Tongue Skink), and Lore (Jeweled Lacerta). Maggid means storyteller in Hebrew, and I'm Jewish, and like to incorporate Jewish-themed names when I can. (I used to have bunnies named Babka and Pickles).

In the area of mental health, one can state there is a revolution that is currently happening and it is fueled by wearable neurotechnology. Such devices are expanding horizons in the identification, diagnosis, and intervention of mental health disorders. With the help of neurofeedback software and neurofeedback brain mapping as wearable neurotechnology, the novel field is expected to open a new window of understanding and intervention on the human mind, to ultimately transform the mental health care paradigm into a more targeted, timely, and efficient one.

Today was hard for me to start… woke up with pain all over again… So I left a bit late from home, the bus was full, but the metro was empty 😅

Meet Swatch! His daughter is not other than Pencil herself. He really loves and supports her very so. Even he lets her live with him still, for now until she moves out by herself, with a founded roommate, or future beloved.

He’s an interior designer and a very kind hearted man. He’s a single divorced father even since Pencil was 8 years old. He used to have a son as well but decided to go with his mom. To this day, he’s very caring and very loving for Pencil. He’s grateful to still have his sweet lil daughter in his life.

Yeah, he’s not really not aware about the adulthood shenanigans his daughter gets into nowadays. Not even the most hot secrets she has. So, recommended that nobody should try to say anything about it… he’ll hopefully be ready to understand what ‘situations’ she’s in.

Oh yeah, fun facts! Her father is 7’3, he loves all kinds of interior theming but mostly favorites Hollywood Regency, he loves Halloween like her daughter, he keeps a ‘pocket’ knife at hand and he loves spending qualiyty time with his friends or daughter! ^w^
