Jason Todd isn't a Bat. Sure, he works with them, but that's far from the acceptance he craves. Dick Grayson is the only support he has in the darkness of Gotham. And then he's no longer in the Gotham he knows and loves.

My second piece for @batfam-big-bang! This one is for @fandomfive39's fic In the Shadow of a Demon

The League of Assassins was a semi-known organization with power in nearly every country. Even more unknown however, was it's subdivision: the League of Shadows. Barely more than an urban legend, people in all dark corners of the world feared the elusive Shadows that would hunt you down if they deemed it necessary. It was unknown how many there were, who they were, or where they were. Men, women, wives, husbands and coworkers. The Shadows took every shape needed to get what they wanted. A few, sparse reports recorded Kestrels: deadly males with more knives than teeth and enough crimes each to rival a prison. Even fewer could say they knew of the Diaemi, masked women who’ve worn hundreds of faces and lived thousands of lives, controlling from behind the scenes. They were monsters, faithfully stood at the Demon’s hand. They were children, taken too soon from their innocence. They were Shadows, Bats and Birds waiting in the dark for whatever was to come next.

summary:

"Let him go!" Nightwing snarls through the com, voice raw and strained. Jason laughs. The modulator of his helmet crackles, and the sound of his laughter echoes cold and cruel. "Are you sure you want me to do that?" During an unplanned and unsupervised encounter with the Red Hood, Tim takes an (also unplanned) dive off the side of a building. As Tim's life hangs by a thread, Red Hood taunts Batman and Nightwing, threatening to drop him. But does he really mean it? Because for someone threatening to let go, Jason's grip is awfully tight.

The Byler Big Bang is back for 2024!

The Byler Big Bang is a fanwork event based on the Stranger Things ship of Mike Wheeler & Will Byers meant to create an explosion of content while providing structure, deadlines, and of course, community support to writers and artists. 

How does a Big Bang work?

A Big Bang event is a challenge for fic writers to write longer fanfictions (10k words or more), partnering them with an artist to create accompanying artwork. 

Writers sign up to take part in the challenge and begin writing stories. When the early drafts of the stories are available, artists will be able to claim stories to work on. Then, during designated posting periods, the author and artist post their new work for the fandom to see!

How do I get involved?

Writers can sign up as authors to participate by creating a fanfiction of 10k words or more over the course of the next months.

Artists can sign up as artists to participate by being paired with an author to create 1 or more artworks to accompany their fic.

Artists can also sign up as pinch-hitters to create additional art for works in the event that other artists drop out after claims.

Sign-ups for authors and artists will open on July 15.
