Ulo's design is so neat! what's their deal/backstory?

eeeetysm for the compliment! i havent talked much about them so thank you for asking...

ulo grew up in the same village as ilaw, and they were essentially childhood best friends. they ended up both working under tsadi because ulo couldnt bare watch ilaw throw his life away with no prior knowledge of what to do.

ulo ended up working as a manager and coordinator, and perished in the same battle that tsadi and ilaw did, only a little after.

in modern day, ulo doesnt really work or study much anymore and is trying to take a well deserved break, but they are still around as a sort of family friend to ilaw and bata. ulo likes to give ilaw some confidence and likes to visit bata because they appreciate her willingness to learn and care about books. those things mean alot to them!

One thing I find interesting about book Officer Knight is how simple his design is!

Gonna ramble more about this under the cut…

For a character so essential to the series, he’s got one of the most generic designs in the books, and I think it really works. You’re not supposed to get attached to Officer Knight, the main character is supposed to be Dog Man, after all.

Officer Knight is simply just the sacrifice necessary for Dog Man’s backstory, and barely shows up aside from a couple of panels.

He’s hardly even talked about past his death (honestly, I don’t think they mention his name at all???), so the only concrete things we know about Knight is his strength, general cluelessness, and close bond with Greg.

This little knowledge about Knight makes him feels mysterious and out of reach, like something we’re not privy to.

And despite his seemingly close connections to parts of the main cast, like the Chief and Petey, he’s forgotten in an instant. Or in other cases, framed as being “saved” by the surgery and becoming part of Dog Man. (Kind of a scary thought, right?)

It’s strange, to have such little information on a person who’s technically (more than) half of the main character. But I like how mysterious Officer Knight is.

Personally, it makes his close relationship with Greg feel all the more heartfelt. Since it feels like a series of memories only Dog Man alone can reflect on now. But maybe that’s just me being overly cheesy about their dynamic. Can you tell they’re my favorites?

Overall, I like his design in the movie, but there’s so much charm to his generic appearance too!

also regardless of whether soundwave becomes a decepticon or not in the baby prime orion au, he still sends optimus every recording he has of the primes. especially the ones where they're with him as a baby. the ones where they talk about him. where they're gushing about him learning a new word or how to run or just a fun thing he did that day. the little things that no historian would think to record but that a close friend may treasure.

he couldn't keep his primes safe. he couldn't take revenge on the traitor who murdered them. he couldn't stop him from taking their legacy and molding it to his whims. but if he can keep the memory of them alive, if he can make sure they are remembered as how they truly were, if he can give optimus back a little bit of the family he lost... maybe that can begin to make up for his failures

soda and darry were really really close when ponyboy was first born. like wherever darry was soda was close behind until pony turned two. this is because soda was terrified he was being replaced and would be forgotten so darry dragged him along every where he went

once pony started walking and everything soda sort of grew out of it (?) but it for sure came back full force when pony started reading and writing early. like the kid can’t talk but he knows his abc’s while soda is still mixing up his d’s and b’s and confusing 4 for the letter f ?? that’s so unfair.

idk just thinking about soda sticking to darry like velcro because he doesn’t want to be forgotten or replaced
