The Pacific Clipper WWII Around-the-World Flight
d
Pam Am Clipper taking off from port In late 1941, the crew of the Pan American “Pacific Clipper” (Boeing 314 flying boat) made a historic, emergency flight around the world just to get home. Never heard of it?  That’s not surprising.  Its record setting flight was both due to, and overshadowed by, the Japanese bombing of Pearl Harbor that same month.  The entire world was now at war and not…

Prompt 314
Danny has discovered something absolutely amazing. While he can’t cook for shit, he can? Actually bake? Really well? Must be those bonding sessions in Long Now with Clockwork making all those cookies and cakes and everything else.
But? This means he can A, actually make himself food, and B, has somehow befriended several more ghosts, including his rogues. Apparently he gave off bedraggled cat vibes when covered in flour. Or they just enjoyed the cupcakes he’d made to look like them in a sleep deprived ferver.
But hey, he even has a decent job while he’s in (online due to medical issues, officially) college at one of the local bakery-cafes. Which means he also gets free coffee, so that’s nice too. Just erm, he might’ve gotten in the habit of handing cookies or other baked goods to anyone trying to attack him.
Look, it’s how he befriended his rogues (Apparently Fright Knight, being the ghost of Autumn, enjoys pumpkin spice cookies, who knew?) and they even continue to visit too.
So really, it’s not his fault that there’s several goonion (honestly Sam will be pleased to learn they’ve got a union) members who are now constantly coming to the bakery. And- okay is that another undead person? Have a cupcake.

Pentiment's Complete Bibliography, with links to some hard-to-find items:
I've seen some people post screenshots of the game's bibliography, but I hadn't found a plain text version (which would be much easier to work from), so I put together a complete typed version - citation style irregularities included lol. I checked through the full list and found that only four of the forty sources can't be found easily through a search engine. One has no English translation and I'm not even close to fluent enough in German to be able to actually translate an academic article, so I can't help there. For the other three (a museum exhibit book, a master's thesis, and portions of a primary source that has not been entirely translated into English), I tracked down links to them, which are included with their entries on the list.
If you want to read one of the journal articles but can't access it due to paywalls, try out 12ft.io or the unpaywall browser extension (works on Firefox and most chromium browsers). If there's something you have interest in reading but can't track down, let me know, and I can try to help! I'm pretty good at finding things lmao
Okay, happy reading, love you bye

Spoilers for all of Mystreet and a small bit of Mcd
So ur telling me. That in ms and pdh. In six seasons and like three prequel seasons. Vylad Ro’Meave. Gets 10 episodes that he appears in. TEN. Over 314 fifteen to thirty minutes episodes (including the side series, pdh and fcu, the spin offs, and the mini series, not including the mini games), Vylad get approximately 85 minutes of screentime in total, with around 40 of those minutes being in pdh, and 45 in Mystreet.
My poor guy got the Laurance treatment, with both of them being very important characters in Diaries, but being pretty much tossed to the side in Mystreet. At least Laurance shows up in more than one season of the main series, because Vylad only gets four episodes in Mystreet, (with three of them being solely Ro’meave centered episodes that he takes a smaller role in) and in those four Big Vylad Return Episodes, he doesn’t show up much without his brothers and ends up taking the back seat again as the main plot is taken up by Aphmau and Zane fake dating to please Zianna.
You’ll never guess what he does in Pheonix Drop High. He gets introduced to us, befriends Travis and Aphmau, and is then never seen without one of his brothers again until Mystreet, in which he gets like, 8 minutes of screen time away from them over the course of two episodes until the main arc plot.
Yes, I did infact watch all of the episodes Vylad is in and roughly calculated the amount of time that he was in each episode, even if he wasn’t talking. I would move mountains for this man.
When I watched Mcd for the first time, I had high hopes for him (and by that extension, poor Laurance) in Mystreet during my rewatch, because I hadn’t watched it in years, unless you count dubbing over s4 with my friends. Yay! Vylad finally shows up! Aaand now he’s gone. With no mention of where he went. And we are left to assume he’s traveling the world again. The next time he is ever mentioned is s4, by Garroth, once. And then radio static once more. I’m pretty sure at some point in s5 Zianna brings him up while talking to Zane but I can’t remember.
Vylad had so much goddamn potential in Mystreet. Affair baby? Canonically Pansexual? Tense relationship with his family? Usually keeps off the radar? Acts completely different from his Mcd counterpart? “Child Prodigy”?
They could have done so much more with him and it makes me so sad that he’s basically just a cameo character to please old Mcd fans and make them say “oh my god! Vylad! From Mcd!”. Yes, it did infact please me, but we get so little of him until he’s gone.
They could have removed him from the plot of Mystreet entirely and it wouldn’t change much. The whole Zanemau fake dating story never really goes anywhere, and thats all we see of him other than Pdh, where he is also neglected as a character, though not as much.
It’s not even the fact that they brought him back from Pdh and then did nothing with him. Thats what they did with Ein, and it worked flawlessly. Its the fact that they brought him back just to show us that “hey guys look it’s Vylad that guy from Mcd and like 5 episodes of Pdh!!”
You know what they could have done instead. Removed Kim from the plot and inserted Vylad instead. She showed up just as a plot point to get possessed. It also would have made Emmalyn a bit less weird in her re-introduction, because if Vylad was obsessing over Zane it would have been weird as hell and they wouldn’t have written that.
I would have watched tf out of an Emerald Secret where Vylad was in town visiting his parents and gets dragged by Garroth to help renovate a new property his parents bought, only for him to
A) get possessed and start acting strange, probably suspiciously glaring at Zane and Aphmau,
B) watch as Zane also starts acting weird, and doesn’t remember himself OR Garroth,
C) Witness as everything goes downhill, probably getting locked in the other jail cell with Garroth (LIKE IN THE BLOOPER REEL) and fleeing back to the cabin to try and get help from literally anyone while Garroth tries to save Aaron and the others, and
D) getting invited to Starlight by the Lycans, where we learn more and more about both Vylad AND Emmalyn, as she starts to recover her memories and tells Vylad about a man quite like him in looks from the past.
We could have gotten more of his relationships with the other characters, like him and Lucinda both gladly breaking into the place where Travis is staying, Not Alone Buddies interactions, his interactions with his brothers now that they’ve all been through A Lot, reacting to Aphmau’s engagement, him watching the other guys as they all fail to pull in amusement, commenting on just how much Travis has changed since high school, his reaction to Garroth getting zapped into a werewolf, an awkward interaction with Garte, the GF invasion, getting used to passing out all the time, missing his old travels and regretting ever going to the lodge, Garroth getting mind controlled, Aphmau’s sudden death, and the burden of both contributing to the possession of Travis, and the responsibility of helping to kill his father.
DO YOU KNOW HOW HAPPY THAT WOULD HAVE MADE ME 😭
plz bring Vylad back s7 🙏🙏🙏

sweet nothings
akaashi keiji; hint of spice but sfw ; u asked for spicy akaaashi and i deliver <3 @fuckinglevi
“I’ve read that a lot of people are into this,” Akaashi says, blinking owlishly at you.
The room is dimly lit, the light of flickering candles painting the walls in a soft, romantic glow.
“I-into…” you gesture wordlessly at the fruits and whipped cream, the honey and melted chocolate.
“Chocolate has been touted as an aphrodisiac since the ancient times,” Akaashi says. Your eyebrows twitch, a helpless smile threatening your lips.
“Yeah?” you decide to lean in, sauntering forward and dip a finger in the chocolate before wrapping your lips around it for a hard suck.
Akaashi swallows visibly.
“Uh — yes — I mean —”
You lean in to kiss him, his voice lost in the press of your lips on his. You tangle sticky fingers in his hair and he pulls back, pupils blown wide, his breath coming in staccato pants. You feel the press of his fingers along your hips and smile.
“C’mon then — you set all this up, tell me what you had in mind,” you say, letting your voice slip into the dark honey of lust, shimmying yourself back until you’re sitting up on the counter.
Akaashi gulps, gaze flickering down to the skin of your thighs.
“I just thought… you said you had a late start tomorrow…”
You smile, sweet and indulgent, reaching out to snick a strawberry from a bowl, dipping it in a liberal amount of whipped cream before lifting it up to press it to his lips. He opens his mouth without contest, his jaw going slack as he laves the cream from your fingertips.
You shudder, heat skittering down your spine.
“I do… so… does that mean you’ll promise to keep me up late tonight?”
Akaashi licks at this lips, “Only… if you tell me you want to be kept up.”
You let out a soft groan, “Oh, I really, really do.”

beel is one of my faaaaves other than mammon! i want him to squish me n' kiss me! i wrote this really fast cause i was brain rotting like crazyyyyyy!!!!!!!

you squirmed against the mattress, covered in a thin sheen of sweat as your mouth fell open. moans spilling freely past your drool covered lips as you tugged and clawed at the wine colored sheets. beel had kneeled beside the bed, making it much easier for him to access your much smaller body. his fat tongue swirled and flicked your clit, stimulating it over, and over, and over again. his large hands had a firm grip on your hips, leaving your legs thrown over his broad shoulders as he savored each orgasm he could get from you.
you had lost track of how many orgasms you had given him. how many times he had gotten your toes to curl, your legs to shake, your juices to squirt and cream all over his mouth and chin. you could hardly think anymore.
“b-beel please- m’gonna die.” you were not going to die. but another orgasm might push you into the teetering edge of unconsciousness. “mmmm?” his deep and curious grumbled made you whimper as he pulled his mouth away from your cunt. the muscles twitched and throbbed, craving more and more of his attention until eventually your body ceased to function. “are you really going to die? i havent finished… i want to taste you a little more…” he complained with gentle kisses to your inner thighs. his spiky orange bangs clung to his forehead (you werent sure if it was cum or sweat) and his violet eyes with hints of pink would dart from you, and back down to your aching pussy. “just a lil bit…?” he mumbled a sad plea. you weakly reached out a hand and scratched his scalp with a tired smile. “just a little…” you cooed, flinching when he grinned and stuffed his face between your thighs to suckle your clit hungrily.
he didnt plan to stop until you actually fainted.

Trick or Treat
@deathnotetober
day 31: trick or treat
Rating: G
Pairing: none
The children at Wammy's were no strangers to competition. It's what they lived for. Even when L was a kid, competition flowed as the life-force through the orphanage, influencing and encouraging nearly every decision the children made.
This extended to Halloween. L didn't even care that it was his birthday. Trick or treating was a game with candy as the prize. The more elaborate costume you had, the more candy and subsequent bragging rights you earned. Trick or treating was the perfect intersection between complicated costumes, sweets, and psychological warfare.
Watari parked the limo on a side street. A small eleven year old L looked out the window, eyes narrowing at the other kids already swarming the sidewalks.
"Mm. Based on the volume of children and average purchases of candy, the ideal time to arrive would've been 20 minutes ago."
Watari watched his ward in the rearview mirror, lips twitching. Was he concerned about L's military-level strategic mindset? Possibly. But the kid was voluntarily leaving his room to get fresh air. Watari wasn't about to push the subject.
"It's okay. There'll still be plenty of candy."
L soured at that.
"But I might not get the most candy."
Watari snorted, deciding not to dignify that with a response.
L scampered out of the car and down the sidewalk, eagerly looking around. He was dressed up as a zombie (had even stolen some of B's jam as fake blood, but B didn't need to know that). He had a true plan of attack, had circled and mapped out his trick or treat route to ensure the largest volume of candy possible.
The execution of his plan went flawlessly. As he arrived back at the manor, the other kids were also returning from their own trick or treating ventures with Roger. They all raced towards the long dining room table, proceeding to dump their spoils in front of them. The obsessive counting of candy began. A sacred ritual where all thirty children of the orphanage were deathly silent, too lost in the count. 8 year old A slammed his little hands against the table with a toothy grin.
"314!"
Violet held up large king-sized bars.
"276, but the king-sized ones count more, so more like 320!"
"Hey, that's not fair!"
"Yeah, it is!"
L squinted as he continued counting. He popped up with a victorious, borderline feral grin.
"521!"
The kids around the table gasped. A slow, collective groan rose up like a chorus. L won. He always won.
But the night was still young and the war wasn't over yet, for next came the true intense mind games that tested every genius in that orphanage...
The negotiations for candy trades.

Marines hit operational status with second carrier-capable F35-C unit

A West Coast Marine F-35C Lightning II squadron has achieved initial operational capability.
The Marine Fighter Attack Squadron (VMFA) 311, Marine Aircraft Group 11, 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing, hit that key milestone Wednesday, 1st Lt. Madison Walls, wing spokeswoman told Marine Corps Times. The status means a unit can employ, maintain and train on the jet.
The Marine Corps Air Station Miramar, California, unit conducted its first independent live ordnance operations July 25.
“Initial operational capability is a milestone and achievement in readiness,” said Lt. Col. Michael Fisher, commanding officer of VMFA-311 in a statement. “It’s all on the backs of the Marines out there. What they do in their day-to-day actions is what made this possible.”
The squadron, also known as the Tomcats, flew more than 900 sorties, which equals nearly 1,700 flight hours and another 800 simulator hours and 2,400 maintenance actions to reach initial operational capability, according to a service release.
“The Tomcats have a storied history that includes legends such as Ted Williams and John Glenn, and participation in every major conflict since World War II,” Maj. Gen. James Wellons, commanding general of 3rd MAW, said in the release. “Today’s Marines add another chapter to that legacy with the introduction of the F-35C and fifth-generation capabilities to VMFA-311.”

In 2020, the squadron deactivated its AV-8 Harrier jets and then reactivated in April 2023 with 84 Marines and one F-35, reflecting the Marine Corps’ move to fifth-generation fighter aircraft. The transition has resulted in a gradual reduction in Harriers and F/A-18 Hornets.
The Corps’ two F-35C squadrons, VMFA-311 and VMFA-314, are both stationed at Miramar.
The VMFA-314, or Black Knights, reached initial operational capability in 2020, Marine Corps Times previously reported.
The F-35C is specifically engineered for carrier-based operations, featuring heavier landing gear and enlarged, foldable wings designed to facilitate catapult launches and arrestments on aircraft carriers. The foldable wingtips also facilitate easier storage on the carrier deck.
The “C” variant holds more fuel than other versions of the single-seat jet, with nearly 20,000 pounds of internal fuel capacity for long-range flights.
“The next step for VMFA-311 is full operational capability, attained when VMFA-311 receives its complete inventory of ten F-35C aircraft, projected for fiscal year 2025,” according to the release.
The Marine Corps has used the F-35B for years. The “B” variant, built to use short runways and flat-decked amphibious assault ships, is capable of short take-offs and vertical landings.
Currently, the Corps has eight operational F-35B squadrons and two training squadrons, totaling over 100 F-35B aircraft globally.
Todd South has written about crime, courts, government and the military for multiple publications since 2004 and was named a 2014 Pulitzer finalist for a co-written project on witness intimidation. Todd is a Marine veteran of the Iraq War.
