i think there's something interesting that can be said about carmy spending a good portion of one of his first actual dates with claire pretending to be a different person.
#look i know its not that deep but i think theres some interesting angles that can be explored there#in regards to claire almost representing an ideal and the person carmy thinks he's supposed to be outside of work#and how his friendship with sydney is representative of who he is within the restaurant / who he really is as a chef#sydcarmy#the bear#yes this is still about sydcarmy#how could it not be#performance and ideal vs authenticity and reality#that one might be a reach but let me cook

You want me to believe that "Mexican" restaurant is "authentic" but I can't even order tacos de lengua? Please, get out
#for context my mom and i walked by one of those 'authentic mexican' restaurants that clearly cater to gringos#i looked up their menu out of curiosity and damn...#disappointing as fuck#like their choices of meat for tacos was literally just#carne asada. carnitas. and idk i think shredded chicken#there was no lengua. no tripas. no sesos. no buche#none of that#just gringo friendly options

I have this idea for a food truck bouncing around in my head and basically the idea is southern style BBQ with all the classic sides (broccoli mac n cheese, mashed potatoes, baked potatoes, corn on the cob, greens, cornbread, etc) but the food truck is a converted ambulance. the food trucks name would be the Hambulance, and would offer all kinds of different sauces for your BBQ (could be ribs, pulled pork, brisket, sausage, maybe some beef options and maybe a fried chicken option) (the sauces would be like, classic red sauce, dark maple, sweet and spicy BBQ, golden bbq, vinegar pepper sauce, and a house made hot sauce called like the 911 Sauce to stay on brand). id offer a discount for any healthcare workers/EMTs/Firefighters. not cops tho. fuck cops
#i truly don't know if i could have the energy and drive for running my own food truck but its something ive always wanted to do#have my own restaurant#i just love food especially meats and if i had a restaurant it would absolutely be a bbq place#real authentic southern style food in the NW

Thinking about sharing here my granny's Chiles en Nogada recipe.
Not to be mean or arrogant, but sharing would be pointless, because I'm sure you don't have or the talent or the ingredients to make them.
#for talent I mean maneuvering hot *boiling* chilis with your hands and patience at working on something that can take 3 days#for ingredients I mean fresh authentic acitrón#most people won't make them; they prefer to buy even if they are expensive#normally at restaurants *average; nothing fancy; they cost around 20-25 usd per unit *not a full meal; only the chile en nogada*#when they are well made they worh the price#also there is lore behind them#nah I will share them with you people; they are not fun to make but they are delicious#I will share cursed ingredients to use as alternative; not that I would recommend it; but you need to try these at least one time 🥺#also there are alternatives to handle the chiles but they are time consuming :(#still; it's possible to make a *poor* version of them abroad#grandmacore

There is a particular type of Americanized Indian food where it's like... this maybe encountered a spice once, but I'm not convinced it contains any. It is disappointment in a bowl. Have these people ever actually tasted Indian food?
#look if i wanted something bland I wouldn't have gotten curry!#this isn't curry. this is like that spanish rice that comes out of a box in US grocery stores.#is there an authentic Spanish rice somewhere that actually tastes like something?#hylian rambles#food tw#my college roommate is from india and knows all the good local restaurants i am now incapable of enjoying this pale imitation

$3 Udon Restaurant in Osaka | Low Budget Travel Japan | Japanese Noodlesoup
Welcome back to Osaka! In this video, we're exploring an authentic Udon restaurant located in Fukushima ward – Udon Sanku, where you can enjoy a delicious meal on a budget while experiencing the true flavors of Japan.
youtube
Full Blog here with all details!
As you step into the restaurant, you'll notice a vending machine to purchase your meal tickets. Don't worry if it's all in Japanese; I'll provide a description of the vending machine in the comments below to help you navigate through the ordering process.
Once you have your tickets, head to the kitchen area, present them, and choose a seat to relax. Like in most Japanese restaurants, you'll find free water available for guests.
Next, listen closely as your order is called, and then head to the counter to pick up your bowl of Udon. Customize your dish with toppings like tempura flakes or chili powder (7 spices) according to your taste.
I opted for the basic version, topped with a raw egg and green onions, which cost only around $2-3. The noodles are delightfully thick and mouthwateringly delicious, complemented by a flavorful broth that perfectly matches the Udon.
Udon has a rich history, dating back over 1000 years, and it's interesting to note that Udon is more popular in western Japan, while Soba takes the lead in eastern Japan. Surprisingly, Udon and Somen share the same noodles, with the primary difference being their thickness – Somen being very thin and Udon, as we know it, being thick and hearty.
Once you finish your delightful meal, remember to return your plate to the kitchen and dispose of the one-time-use items yourself.
It's important to mention that the exit is separate from the entrance in this restaurant, so make sure to head in the right direction when you leave.
Thank you for joining me on this Udon adventure in Osaka! If you enjoyed this video, please give it a thumbs up and consider subscribing for more exciting food tours and travel experiences.
