Remus “i don’t dance” Lupin

Over the summer in between 5th and 6th year, Grant and his crew drag Remus to numerous night clubs all over London. The first few times, he snags tables or stands awkwardly watching as they all dance. And everytime, Grant and his friends try to get him to join. Remus would grin to hide his blush and make an excuse to sit back and continue nursing whatever drink was in his hand.

One particularly energized night though, only a few days before they moon, he gives in and let’s them teach him to dance. At first he’s tense and doesn’t know what to do with his all too long limbs. But as the night draws on and their sober selves are further and further in the past, something miraculous happens. And Remus realizes dancing is fun. The night ends all too fast but after that Remus is out on the floor with them every night they go out.

Obviously the other Marauders are under no circumstances aloud to know about this. For all of september and October, he doesn’t get more than tipsy at any party they throw. He plants his butt in one spot and only allows a single foot to tap. Sirius find this infuriating because he wants to dance and “no moony I can’t dance with James, he’s a prude.” Remus just laughs him off.

That is until Halloween. The common room is decked in cheap muggle decor. Drinking games are being played everywhere and the music is so loud you have to scream to hear anything. Remus forgets his rule a few hours in. It starts with him watching from the side, moving a little awkwardly along to the music. Lilly is the one who drags him out. She thinks she’s about to be the one to teach him some moves, but within three songs it’s clear he’s a pro. Sirius stops dead in his tracks when he notices. Remus is downright sinful. Mary and Lilly only cheer and James whoops along with them. Sirius though, is frozen in the spot. Because Moony is a vision. Nothing like the awkward skinny boy on the sidelines at the previous parties. It’s like he’s made of the music.

The next morning Sirius can still only stare in wonder at the tall, curly haired boy glaring at him from across the breakfast table.

“It’s too early for whatever you’re about to ask, Pads.” Remus rasps out, very hungover.

Sirius can only wonder what other secret talents Remus has.
