Advantages to being female ("AFAB").

Biological differences in being female are often discussed negatively in order to indicate our disadvantages and where and how we are exploited within patriarchal societies.

On Ovarit, there was a thread in which users shared some biological differences to being female that illuminated our strengths. While of course biological differences in males vs. females is directly rooted in reproductive evolutionary strategy (whether someone develops down a reproductive pathway geared towards an overall reproductive system that supports gestating life and creating larger ova vs. not) I thought I would share some examples of advantages not directly connected to childbirth and childbearing. This is not an exhaustive list.

We are more flexible than male people.

We have better stamina and endurance in some extreme long-distance sports in comparison to male people (such as in ultra-marathons).

Some animals (especially other mammals such as wolves, horses, cats, etc.) are instinctively threatened by males, even if they have never been harmed by them. This is not the case with women.

We have better immune systems and survive viruses better than male people.

We survive famines and epidemics overall better than male people.

We survive variations in temperature overall better than male people.

We have better sense of smell than men.

Our chromosomes provide us with extra protection against certain genetic diseases like hemophilia, and we have more genetic diversity.

We have better balance due to our center of gravity being lower, in our pelvis's, while males have their center of gravity in their torsos. This makes us naturally better at sports like rock-climbing, gymnastics, certain martial arts, etc.

He’s legally blind and extremely near-sided, he cannot function without his glasses, running into walls and stumbling over things when he doesn’t have them on

He used to have coke bottle lenses but started getting thinner lenses cause of how much he was getting bullied growing up

He’s a cat person! He loves dogs but he likes cats more since in his experience they’re more friendly (he almost got attacked by a chow chow as a kid)

He’s been thinking about adopting a cat so he isn’t as lonely at home

He’s a huge space and sci-fi nerd (obviously) and had dreams of becoming an astronaut as a kid, but realized how lonely he would get being so far from earth

His first tattoo he got was a back piece of the solar system, and every year for his birthday he splurges and gets another one! Mostly matching his theme of space and the beyond

He used to have his lobes pierced when he was a teenager but got caught by his dad, who then almost ripped his earlobe off trying to get them out of gales ears

He and Benny became friends in college! They were roommates freshmen and sophomore year and continued to talk and hang out after getting paired with different people

People have told him he smells like roasted pecans

Marge was and still is his best friend, while she still lives in Wyoming they talk constantly

Bucky went to a local community college near his Ma’s place and then went to the university of Michigan where he played on their baseball team! He was on his way to playing in the MLB until he had a bad accident and destroyed his shoulder :(

He has a titanium plate in his shoulder! He likes to joke about how he’s practically part cyborg because of it

He ended up changing majors since he wanted to still do something in sports, going into sports management and physical education

He started coaching at a decently young age at 23 (he’s 26 now) and has basically taught in Texas since he graduated

He ending up moving down to Texas because of the teacher/coach shortage they were having, but he still visits his mom and sister during school breaks

He has his high school and college medals and trophies up on display in his office with his degrees

He loves all of his kids, making sure each and everyone of them were included, super fundraising to make sure all of them could go on trips or get the best gear and uniforms

Now, first of, what would LOCAI/Land of Crowns and Inertia (belonging to an impatient Thief of Time; he competes a lot), Land of Glow and Unicorns (belonging to a DnDer and enthusiastic Sylph of Life), and Land of Scans and Frogs (belonging to an aspiring astronaut Mage of Space who also likes cats)?

Also, in terms of sessions, casting aside the fact the SBURB copy is heavily modded, what shenanigans could ensue with two teams consisting of (Team A->) Knight of Blood (M), Bard of Doom (M), Heir of Hope (F), Seer of Breath (FtM but mistaken for F), and Thief of Time (M) then (Team B->) Rogue of Heart (M), Sylph of Life (F), Mage of Space (F), Prince of Light (M) and Maid of Void (Bigender, MF)?

All I have so far are failed politic shenanigans, some far-off moments (specifically Thief of Time shenanigans), and certain people trying to perform game tactics like literal speedrunning their planets.

Quest for the Thief of Time:

On the Land of Crowns and Inertia, the consorts will be negatively affected by their player's inverse, the Page of Space. Perhaps they waste all their time waiting for a new king, such as the Thief of Time, to appear and begin ruling their planet. The consorts spend all day making art of their hypothetical king and writing stories about what they imagine he will be like. They have become entirely passive and are no longer able to make decisions for themselves. Additionally, time on the planet has begun to literally slow down due to the consorts no longer maintaining the magical clockwork mechanisms that keep it running. The planet is littered with ancient ruins filled with imposing statues of past consort kings and queens wearing tall crowns. The time mechanisms can be found within these ruins alongside tablets of old laws and customs. Unfortunately, the consorts have become too focused on writing fanfiction about the Thief of Time to go into the ruins and study their own history.

The Thief of Time must push the consorts into action by threatening to destroy the ruins if they do not use the history and machines within for themselves. The Thief will be able to convert the statues' crowns into grist. Some of this grist can be kept, but the rest of it must be used to help the consorts restart time's gears. Instead of becoming the new ruler, the Thief must put aside their pride and motivate the consorts to take charge of their destinies themselves, using their historical texts as a starting point.

Quest for the Sylph of Life:

On the Land of Glow and Unicorns, the consorts will be negatively affected by their player's inverse, the Prince of Doom. Perhaps the society of this planet has become one of criminal excess. Long ago, the consorts discovered unicorns in hidden corners of the planet that would grant you any wish if you found them. Large swathes of the sky on this planet glow, but the brightest parts are where unicorns are located. At first the consorts had great respect for the unicorns, and only asked for wishes when granted. However, a plague spread through their community and left the planet covered in ghost towns. The few consorts who remain have taken to kidnapping unicorns and forcing them to grant them money and power, out of a fear of not having the resources to overcome another plague.

The Sylph of Life must use their powers to free and heal the unicorns. Afterwards, they must teach the consorts how to be kind to each other and how to prosper again by rebuilding their communities. The Sylph must aid the consorts in setting up hospitals and regrowing their crops, so that they can once again have a peaceful, thriving society.

Quest for the Mage of Space:

On the Land of Scans and Frogs, the consorts will be negatively affected by their player's inverse, the Heir of Time. As it is on a Space planet, the focus of the quest will be to breed the Genesis Frog. Perhaps the frogs on this planet, whose DNA is needed to create the Genesis Frog, are all hidden in networks of buildings that can only be accessed by scanning codes hidden throughout the planet. Even an Appearifier is not able to view the inside of these buildings. The consorts of the planet have decided that it is their destiny to break into these buildings, and as quickly as possible. For generations, they have zipped about at top speed trying to come up with new ways to hack at and bust open the mechanical gates of these buildings. When they do succeed in opening the buildings, they cause so much destruction that it kills the frogs inside.

It is up to the Mage of Space to understand where patience is necessary. They must methodically scour their planet for the buildings' codes, using their creativity to find clues hidden in artwork and poems throughout their planet. This art was created by the consorts; they themselves have long since discarded it as a waste of time.

What would a fashion show in the future look like?

A future where we have become so technologically advanced and mastered space travel. We’ve even managed to make contact with intelligent life on other planets. 

Different fashion designers that specialise in different types of apparel.

Earth’s s/s collection: 

Luxury tech apparel - this includes diamond space suits, neon colours, and clothing that doubles as tech 

Multi-atmospheric armour - space suits that are both multifunctional and stylish. Built for you to travel to any planet you want or just explore outer space in style. 

Body mods - cyborg parts that enhance your body 

muelleri- a material extracted from the wing cases of rainbow stag beetles which creates a gorgeous Iridescent hue 

Golden Ratio patterns - patterns that mimic the microscopic and macroscopic patterns of  mother nature that feel both familiar and band new 

Ercoleium - rare luxurious pastel pigments sourced from the NGC 6210 nebula 

Kinetic energy iridescence -

Pearls - being only found on earth, pearls are the most sought after accessory in the galaxy. 

Headgear:

Notan tech - moody cyberpunk headgear that hides the face. part of the luxury tech apparel line.

Resurgence of the astronaut helmet - retro space suit head gear is back in style. Its been around since the moon landing, and some designers have put a modern twist to it 

Atmospheric mask - part of the multi atmospheric armour line. Looks like a surgical mask and turns the air in that atmosphere into oxygen. There’s a glass covering  the eyes in most of them and pieces that cover the ears to protect the sinuses from differing atmospheric pressures.  

The fashion show is being held on another planet - a dusty red planet that’s only inhabitable due to the cities consisting of bubble shaped domes covering all the structures.

Characters are a fashion designer, two runway models, and another up and coming designer from another planet. 

This up and coming designers harbours resentment towards our designer because in their early years our designer stole their designs. The designer themselves are full of pride and are oblivious to how their actions have affected other, so much so to the point that they don't even remember what the other designer looked like.

Such a back and forth continues for the better part of the day as you get ready. Corpse only whines a bit when you forget to text him back - you are packing, and your prestigious cat ears you bought from Amazon for 10$ deserve exquisite care - which only fuels your seemingly bottomless hunger for mischief, leading to you sneakily ignoring him more. When your phone lights up with a message, you giggle, giddy with excitement. Your laughter only gets louder and more erratic, to the point where Rae had busted down your door and threw her Hello Kitty plush at you - one you’d gotten her, mind you! - and told you to just “Shut the fuck up!”

Ungrateful. You know not everyone can appreciate your sense of humor, or stand your hyena like cackle, but that was uncalled for and you told her as much. Noting the mess your room is in (more than usual, that’s for certain), she leans onto the door frame, crossing her arms over her chest, pretty brown eyes twinkling curiously, “Where you off to?”

“So I had this idea-” You start, but are promptly shut down with a raise of her palm.

“Already know it’s a bad one.”

Insulted, and hurt, you clutch your heart. As if she had not mocked you enough today, “Rae...The hell, that’s so mean...” You mutter, face scrunching into a soft frown, “I only wanted to tell you what me and Syk thought of.”

“Oh?” Intrigued, she raises a brow, “Continue.”

“Gee, thanks for letting me this time.” You mumble, rolling your eyes, “So. We thought we’d stream together. The catch? In the same room! We’ll be playing Cyberpunk. Gotta cash in while the hype is still up.” You add, making her snort, “And, ya know, the whole cat boy business...We’ll be wearing matching cat ears. Admit it, I’m a genius.”

She’s quiet for a moment, mulling over your words; you can practically see the gears in her head turning. She glances around the room, then briefly at you, strangely apprehensive. “You sure that’s a good idea?”

Well, that is definitely not what you expected her to say. You figured it’d be more along the lines of you’d be one ugly cat. “Huh?” Is all you manage to stutter, “What do you mean?”

She gives you a look, one all people give when something is so plainly obvious, “Y/n. You do know the stans will go wild, right? And you do remember our conversation involving Corp-”

“Nope!” You exclaim cheerily with a bright smile to match. You don’t want to think about that. The relationship between you and Corpse is strictly platonic, and besides, seeing Twitter loosing their shit is always funny, and you never miss an opportunity to mess with your fans. Sykkuno is also a good friend, albeit a new one. This supposed flirting from Corpse’s end Rae deduced was nothing more than her projecting her feelings onto the situation. She always liked shoujo anime and was probably thinking one was happening right in front of her. Not a chance. Corpse was just being a friendly crackhead. Your energies mesh beautifully.

Like, beautifully in a strictly friend way. Absolutely nothing more than that.

She gives up, naturally, arguing with a wall would be more productive than arguing with you. You’re such a (Zodiac sign).

“Well,” She mumbles, ticking her head to the side, leaning off of the door frame and turning to leave, “Don’t say I didn’t tell you so.”

Your grin melts as soon as she leaves. Glancing at your bag, you shove your last necessities in with newfound hesitance. 

Nothing bad will happen, right?

It is well past the generally set “appropriate” time to hang out, but since quarantine, what is appropriate anymore anyway? You’ve never been in Sykkuno’s apartment, but now that you’re here it’s...strangely him. Every corner seems tailored to his specific requirements. It’s cozy, and pleasantly warm - it’s a bit chilly in LA, as surprising as that is.

He’s even shyer than you remember him being. And a whole lot more awkward, but in an endearing way, a way that makes you want to laugh and try to reassure him that it’s just you and he has nothing to worry about. While you hung out only once, the history you share is rich and tender. From him following you on Twitter and subsequently prematurely ending your stream, to kidnapping a stray cat affectionately named Juan. His long lost brother, Juan (no the Second, just Juan), lives in your Minecraft server. 

His stream room is sadly bare. There’s an appalling lack of merch or fairy lights. Not even led-lights. It’s a good thing you brought your own. As you try to decided which color would be best - his signature lime green, reminiscent of his adorable Among Us astronaut, or, perhaps, mischievous violet? - he boots the game and tweets out a quick “streaming with y/n in ten mins! come one come all!” 

“You should probably tell your fans, too.” He mumbles, looking somewhere above your shoulder. You settle with cherry blossom pink. Glancing at him, you shrug.

“Ah, do it for me, please?”

“Oh!” He hiccups, “Uhm, I wouldn’t want to pry and I don’t know your password and-”

“It doesn’t have a password.” You had removed it, knowing something like this would happen. Bless your foresight, you did not want him to know it was demonspiitinmymouth. Before he could protest further, you rush to the nearest mirror to put on your cat ears and make sure they aren’t crooked. You look absolutely adorable. The cat boys in your dms will go feral. Hell, you might just go feral looking at yourself! Sykkuno is not ready. No one is. This will be a stream to remember.

When you return (with flourish of course), he’s anxiously fidgeting by his computer, his own little cat ears, one’s he wore for the Halloween stream, peaking out from his silky brown hair. You have to suppress a squeal. When he catches you gaze he gives the kindest, sweetest little smile.

“They, uh--” He points at you, then decides it’s rude to point, bringing his hand back to his lap, then clutching his mouse, lastly releasing a sound stuck between a chuckle and a wheeze, “suit you, uhm, a lot!” He finishes with a resolute nod, quickly spinning in his chair and away from you.

This is the reaction you desired. All is going according to plan. Is this what God feels like? If not, then you pity her. She’s missing out.

Taking a seat next to him - he had been gracious enough to haul you a spare chair from the kitchen - you draw closer, and he, instinctively, shrinks away with another nervous chuckle. 

“You have, uhm... I-I didn’t look!” He quickly chimes. You raise a brow, “Uhm, unopened messages? From Corpse? He texted you when I was tweeting! I didn’t mean to look, I’m sorry-”

Instantly, you recall the famous vine with the scandalous “daddy chill” line, though refrain from saying it aloud. You love havoc, but you’re not evil (Rae would ardently disagree with you, though). Instead, you just shrug, “’S fine, don’t worry. I’ll text him back later. Let’s start?”

He nods, but doesn’t look at you. Granted, you don’t think he glanced at you even once since you returned, “...Okay. Ready?”

“Ready!”

You’re much too immersed into the game and Sykkuno’s twitch chat to even check what’s happening on Twitter, but your estimated guess is that everyone’s going crazy. The stream chat is unruly as well, but missing the signature Twitter spark. Most of the chaos is bravely lead by your fans. Sykkuno’s, much like the man himself, are too nice to scream so unabashedly.

Perhaps you excitement had been a bit too taxing, perhaps drinking 5 coffees and 2 energy drinks today and not enough water are to blame for the sudden drowsiness you’re feeling, but you can’t focus on the swimming chat or the abundance of cut-scenes at the starting point of the game. You steadily draw nearer and he, more composed in front of his audience, doesn’t react. About ten more minutes of hoovering by his shoulder and muttering soft commentary, and you feel yourself slipping.

The last coherent thought you have is a few choice words directed at caffeine itself for having the opposite effect of you at the worst time possible.

You float in oblivion for perhaps ten minutes at best. Once you awake with a startle, you shower Sykkuno in shy apologies and he quickly reassures you that it’s fine and that he didn’t mind at all!

“Though,” He adds after a thoughtful pause, “not sure if it was very, uh, comfortable?”

His stream chat spams uwu and variations of similar kind. The stream continues for a few more hours before the both of you wish everyone a good night. 

While you planned on wreaking absolute havoc, this sudden falling asleep was unexpected. You pondered the consequences of such an innocent, unplanned act whilst ubering home, fearing to check your phone which by now was blowing up with not only Twitter notifications but also Rae’s angry messages that vaguely read “what the fuck y/n”. Within the past two hours she had left 57 messages on all platforms collectively, including 7 calls. 

Corpse’s last text was over three hours ago.

Now that’s strange. Worry festers quickly. Briefly glancing at your surroundings - the pretty glimmer of passing street lights, neon signs, familiar buildings - you decide that it’s time to check what kind of nuclear explosion you’ve caused.

Your heart drops to the bottom of your stomach as you scroll past the hundreds of tweets and mentions. Scan through Rae’s messages. 

You had failed to prepare ahead. Every explosion of such kind is followed by nuclear winter. And Corpse’s lack of messages feels especially cold.

You shrink into the backseat, afraid the driver will accidentally look into the rear-view mirror and see you a bit too happy before asking questions. Good news? Yeah, but it’s not like it’s his any beeswax! In the words of Rihanna, just shut up and drive. 

This argument had not yet happened, but you’re preparing, just in case. 

As you think up of potential scenarios, your eyes drill into Corpse’s goodnight text. You’ve looked at it enough. Time to turn the phone screen off. Leave the app, at the very least. When the screen dims you instantly press on it to wake it up. This is embarrassing. Maybe the deadly amount of caffeine really did mess you up, big time. Your heart races in your chest, painfully almost. You feel a bit sick. Worst of all, you can’t stop smiling.

A notification from Rae makes you snap out of it. Ah, one more demon to deal with. 

However, before you talk to her, you really need to tell Twitter that you’re not with Sykkuno. And apologize to Sykkuno as well. 

At least Corpse doesn’t hate you.

Fucking hell, just exit the chat you idiot!

Halloween Costumes

Mayson couldn't decide and Hank gave in and let him pick two. One for trick or treating and the other for school, parties, and all that. For trick or treating he is going to be a creepy porcelain doll with a wind up gear. He also has a skeleton costume he'll be wearing to school and various events the family is going to. His baby doll has a matching costume.

Cole is going to be an astronaut!

Lana is going as a zombie unicorn skeleton. A lot of words there, yes. That's just her style. Last year she was a zombie vampire bride. So it's on point. Also yes the costume has wings, so it’s technically not a unicorn I guess but Lana does not care.

Kid Carter is going to be a zombie. He wanted to be bloodied with an axe in his head but Hank talked him into being a little more friendly for the other kids' shake.So no blood.

Kid Connor is going to be a skeleton cat! The outfit comes with a built in puffy tutu but he doesn’t really care even if it’s no where near his style. He just really likes the rest of it. Carter made fun of him for it being a girly outfit.

Kid Niles is going to be a squirrel.

Kid Neilos is going to be a hedgehog.

If he unfocused his eyes, John could almost picture the lights of a Christmas tree reflecting off the mirror of a green and blue ornament. It was only for a moment, but it was something as the Earth came back into view, the lights of Paris shining through the shadow of night. Christmas day for this part of the world and he was where he always was this time of year. 

Four readouts hovered before him, each brothers' voice a low rumble as they responded to their assigned missions. Scott was in the middle of securing a bus full of travellers that had slid off the mountain road. Speed had been detrimental, demanding Thunderbird 1's presence. Not that Two could have responded. Virgil had his hands full acting as landing gear for a plane missing their right wheel. 

John spent a moment to watch the time and speed as the pair made to line up with the runway once more. The weather was on their side and crews were already on standby. His older brother had everything he needed. 

A sharp call sounded from the third feed and he almost opened the connection to ask what was wrong. He stopped as he watched Gordon grab hold of the small child that had slipped from her family's arms as the cruise ship rocked with the crashing waves. John knew he didn't have to worry, even if they both had gone over the side. Gordon had quick reflexes, Thunderbird 4, and an uncanny level of luck that John would always refer to as expert training. He knew better, though, having been on the other end of a silent comm, wondering with a cold fear if his brother would answer. The times he hadn't were etched into his memory and left him wondering if more than just training and a thick skull were keeping his brother alive. 

John shifted the image a bit so it would line up with the others, moving Alan's next. The teen was currently far from home - too far, but at least he had Kayo for company as they intercepted a malfunctioning transport ship that had been heading to the Mars colony. Even through the chipper attitude, John could hear the telltale notes of disappointment. 

And therein lay the issue.

Christmas came every year, but for International Rescue, it wasn't spent around a table or by the fire enjoying each other's company. This time of year, the World seemed to move at once - too many people trying to get to their own form of holiday - and it was inevitable that things would go wrong. 

And every year, they did. 

After the third year of trying to settle into traditions and enjoy the celebration, only to be interrupted by the klaxon of multiple emergencies, they'd given up. Instead, he and his brothers would prepare. Their 'Birds would be calibrated for the cold climates, restocked with medical supplies and hot cocoa to calm nerves during a time they were supposed to be with family. 

This was what they did and, for them, it was okay. Christmas didn't need to be on one specific day. They would have their own festivities well after the world had slowed down to a more manageable level of emergencies. It was their own tradition and worth the sacrifice. They would each tell of their rescues and open gifts, eat more food than humanly possible. It would be perfect - as soon as the communication hub stopped buzzing with frantic calls. 

Scott already had the bus repositioned on the mountain road, paramedics working to treat the minor injuries before another bus had arrived to transport everyone the rest of the way down. As the commander climbed back into Thunderbird 1, John tried to offer an apology before sending the next location.

"No sweat, John," Scott flashed a smile of appreciation. For their big brother, this was what the job was all about. A life was worth more than all the gifts in the world. 

Another cry for help met and John found himself idly floating in the sea of sound. A whirring to his right brought the AI into view, her lense emitting a pale half ring of lights. She didn't speak, simply content to watch. He offered her a slight smile, happy to know he wasn't completely alone on Christmas. 

The sounds of the communication hub changed to an odd flow of conversation. John's brow narrowed, unsure how the non-emergent call could have come through. He didn't shut it off, however, listening to a man's voice speaking out as though on a radio show and the words "International Rescue Appreciation marathon" stayed his hand further. 

"What is this?" The question was aimed towards EOS who almost immediately pulled up the emergency line it was being transmitted through.

"It appears someone is using an open feed in order for Thunderbird 5 to pick up the signal." She sounded annoyed by the act of bypassing their systems to send through a radio show. 

The astronaut's shoulders sank with the same frustration, but then -

"Diana is joining us to share her story. Go ahead, love," the clear voice leaving the stage open to whatever was to come.

"Hi, everyone. Merry Christmas," her voice was tinny as it came through a secondary connection, but there was recognition. It was a voice John would never forget. "I, um, I wouldn't be here today if it wasn't for International Rescue. That's something so many of us can say." There was a pause and John could picture her trying to collect herself. A shaky breath, "I had been trapped in my car under a collapsed bridge and I was so scared. I don't remember calling for help, but then there was this voice. He was so calm and just talked to me. At first it was to let me know someone was coming to get me out, but then he asked questions - about me, my cats. He let me talk about my family and this guy I'd been dating." She chuckled at the memory and he smiled. He wasn't one to give dating advice, but it had kept her calm. "He was there the entire time until International Rescue was able to pull me out. I didn't hear from him again, but I just wanted to thank him and his team for saving my life. I will never forget them."

"Thank you, Diana," the host returned. "I am hopeful he and the rest of his team hear your words."

He continued on and John found himself unable to cut the feed. Instead, he turned his focus back to his brothers, each working to get their emergencies under control. Scott was still en route to his next call, Virgil had the plane on the runway, Gordon was returning the child to the parents, and Alan and Kayo were still headed through space. No doubt, they could all use a little cheer in their day.

It wouldn't hurt. 

A few swift flicks of his fingers and the radio feed connected to three of the four. Gordon would be treated to the stories once back on board Thunderbird 4. For a long moment there was silence, but as understanding dawned on the group, the astronaut could see the grins over his family's faces.

"Thank, John," Scott finally broke the silence. 

If nothing else, this was the best gift they would all receive this year. That was certain.
