To all aroace/ace men out there, I just wanna say
I feel seen. Society (and especially the patriarchy and allo men) has always made me feel that I'm not "man enough" because Im not having primal sexual instincts of a bonobo 24/7. I've had cishet men say disgusting things about women when they were giving examples of what a "real man" should be like, or act like. Made me really feel like being a man and an asexual can never mutually exist. Jesus Christ. I genuinely thought I was alone in this.
But I'm not. There are others like me as well, and that really makes me happy. In fact, I have two moots who are exactly like me! Yall have no idea how much that makes me feel seen. I'm so glad yall are here. I love all of you.
Also this is another proof about how awful patriarchy is to not just women, but also men, especially those who are not hetero and/or allonormative.

ANTHONY PADILLA IS LOOKING FOR ASEXUAL MEN FOR A VIDEO
I am so glad he listened to the outcry and decided to make a follow up video. The lack of amab people in the original gave me a bad feeling.

I had like three different kinds of being unrealized ace on main!
I had:
• Oh no, I'm broken, why am I responding to this so differently from others!
• Hahaha look at these other men who are so annoying about sex, aren't they weird? Good thing, hypothetical friend, that you and I are normal and have an absolutely normal disinterest in sex, right?...Right!?
• Am I literally the only sane person on the planet? Sex sounds inherently risky in a way that can be somewhat, but not completely mitigated and on top of that, like a huge hassle, and kinda gross if I'm being honest. It cannot be worth it, what is everyone smoking that makes this appealing in any way whatsoever?
Luckily by the time I realized I was ace, I'd already been through the "WOE IS ME I'M BROKEN - wait, no I'm not" angst with my autism, so I was kinda just like "Oh, rad, I get a pride flag and an explanation to why I resonated so much with the gay rights movement in high school despite being romantically interested exclusively in women."
i didn't have "i'm broken" teenage asexual angst i had "i'm literally being the only reasonable one about this concept and the rest of you are behaving like fucking freaks" perception issues

Ace, cis male, and this line of thought is a big part of what made me feel so isolated from masculinity as constructed on the whole for a long time. I didn't realize I was ace, but I noticed pretty quickly that I was about as far away from most guys as I could be on the expression of sexuality. On the positive side, I think I have a healthier conception of what it means to be a man than most men I know. On the darker side, it's always made connecting with other men harder.
But I also have always had an easy time making friends with women, and I think the fact that I don't really try to hit anyone up for anything sexual makes them feel more comfortable.
Anyway, yeah, ace men exist. We're real. We're here, and it's easy for us to feel broken sometimes, but we are complete and we are totally capable of living wonderful, fulfilling lives, and anyone who says we'd need sex to do that or tries to invalidate us or that we're lesser men can go have a boxing match with a goose.
Alright, come on, gentlemen, do your thing.
Help me prove my family wrong!
I don't know if this post will break containment, but will you like/reblog if you are or know a man who is asexual? All of the people in my life seem convinced that being Ace is a 'girl thing' and that Ace men don't exist!

now that my post about breaking down one's idea of what a woman looks like has circulated for a while (thank you all), i'm now going to make this post, as i do not want people to derail that specific conversation, nor this one.
we also must break down our idea of what a man looks, acts, sounds, behaves, and presents like.
men are not cis, het, allosexual or highly sexual beings, tall, muscular, strong, hairy, deep voiced, broad chested/shouldered, emotionless, mean, aggressive, unemotional, uncaring, distant, cold, stoic, heartless, standoffish, bread winners, bad/absent fathers, macho, obligated to work despite disabilities, or obligated to be "the man of the house."
men are people. first and foremost.
men are allowed to express just like anyone else. men do not have to be pillars of their communities. no obligation. men are allowed to be disabled, tired, weak, emotional, caring, compassionate, asexual, aromantic, friendly, warm, in need of support, neurodivergent, mentally ill, chronically ill,and have personality disorders. men have their own struggles and we have to stop telling them to "suck it up" and "move on" and "pull yourself up by your boot straps".
we are forcing men to do this: this is a cage of our own design.
once we dismantle this idea of how a man "should" be, once more: we will move past radfeminism, patriarchy, trans/androphobia, and fostering a culture where this is an acceptable way to treat men. it's not. we must allow men to be diverse. we must allow men to be who they are on the inside

Not a man, but 1000% agree.
Aromantic and Asexual Cis Men seriously need more recognition, they've been told that being a virgin above the age of 18 is weird and that they get no bitches and they've seen that romance and sex is very important to a man and you need to have it or your "lame" and "boring"
