I feel that Potion Tracks teaches you the basics of all the "Non Tracks related" spells and everything about potion brewing (think about art school) and it's mainly made for the preventing young witches who wanna learn all the types of magic from becoming Wild Witches, Witches and Demons with Low Magic Skills and being at least 70% sure that everyone is in a coven with a sigil.
So long short story, Belos created a "Fake" coven for getting more witches with a sigil.
Who was seriously getting sigil-ed for the Potion Coven? Did they just lose everything? What the fuck is potion magic?
#Potions coven is so strange#brewing potions is Very Clearly not exclusive to potion coven#what with the rebels in hollow mind maling that Emperor's mind potion or eda doing anything in season 2#AND WITH EDA its like...she can brew potions?? even when the curse saps all her magic??#So brewing potions requires either very little or zero magic???#Maybe the magic is like. conjuring the fire. commanding the ladle to stir the pot.#Maybe the magic is the combination of ingredients?????#As in witches use their magic to fuse the stuff together???#But that can't be it if Eda can do it with no magic !! What the fuck is potion magic!!!!!#Maybe it's nothing. Like actually nothing. There is no potion magic. Potion magic is a big ol scam maybe.#Idk its just so strange that POTIONS of all things is a part of the main nine#Its just like#you use magic to GROW PLANTS and CONJURE ILLUSIONS and COMMAND GOO MINIONS and PLAY GOOD MUSIC#where is the magic in POTIONS ITS SO CONFUSING#now that i think about it#Potion Coven may be a consequence of the whole “dividing magic” thing#and how that clashes with magic being an incredible versatile tool that can do all kinds of shit#Maybe Belos ran out of ways to divide it up when he was makig those sigils for the draining spell#(assuming the requirements for the draining spell were 9 groups of people divided by 9 catalytic sigils)#(and whatever those sigils represented were up to the spellcaster)#“Let's see...plants illusions abominations bards healing construction beastkeeping... well damn. what now?”#And so Emperor's coven is All of them and Potion coven is None of them. Easy!#Would be in character I imagine#Good ol belos wouldn't give a damn how magic gets divided as long as his silly little spell works#good lord thats a lot of tags. um. my bad#Coven system is strange and potion coven is even more so#< prev tags#the owl house#toh

I fought my first witch! ^_^
Me, Rem, Giovanna, and Minze all came together in the astral to fight. I was going to fully astral project, but it ended up being easier to bilocate, so I did that instead. I'm going to spill all the tea here. To start, I found a witch in my neighborhood near a black house with lots of plants and bushes behind a fence. It also had a kind of red mailbox that was crooked. It looked almost magical, but it was cursed. This is what the sigil looked like:
Tumblr media
We think it might have looked like that because there were multiple holes we fell down, because there were trinkets like bells on the floor for the circle parts, the fact we kept going in circles, or something resembling an esophagus, which sounds random, but it isn't. We went into the labyrinth, and there were metal bars. the floor was stone I think, and it was very dark. I got cut on one of the bars, and it looked like the cut was rotten. I went to find the others, and Rem fell in a hole, so I think it was Minze that had to get them out. We all met up at the metal bars, and there were what looked kind of like bug familiars. They were there before, but then it was like a spider egg hatched, and they all came out. We found another hole and went in. I fell on some trinkets or bells. There were piles of stuff everywhere. I looked around and found an area that looked like it was going to spiral around the hole if I went in it, and someone else found another hole, but I forgot who. We all jumped in again. I landed on my feet, and that hurt a little. We smelled blood, and we found the witch. They looked like a bunch of organs and gross stuff. I stabbed them with my sword, and it felt like skin, but squishier and wetter. I think they had wings or something because when they attacked, it felt like that. Some blood was on the floor and getting everyone's shoes wet. I got my sword and self very dirty while attacking them. Giovanna used its doppel to fight, Minze used their bow, Rem used a gun for a minute (I think she used a sword other than that?), and I stabbed them. Rem connected with me to do a final attack, and they had two grief seeds, so we think they might have been two witches that fused.
Tumblr media
We agreed the backgrounds of this game look like the witch. I might draw them at some point, but not today. It felt like I was murdering someone the whole time.

Sorry if this has been asked before, or if you've already shown it, but could you share your mod list?
I sure can! However, due to my technological ineptness and inability to figure out how to export a proper fancy crisp mod list, this list has been hand-typed with my own brief and probably unhelpful descriptions of what each mod does (if I can remember or comprehend it, that is).
There are about 180 mods, give or take, so it's a long list. I'll pop it under here for anybody who wants to check them out:

original story ideas I’ll probably never write pt 6??
Three sisters and their mother live on a farm at the base of the mountains. the oldest tells most of the story, about their mother and the other sisters. the mother teaches the oldest how to collect, measure and cut the thread to sell or make into stuff. the mother gets weaker but still has a baby girl, who the oldest teaches to collect and measure, but cutting is her job, and another baby girl who they teach to collect. weaving is for all three, and their mother dies shortly after having the last baby. they are named the kindlies, for their friendly personalities, and they run through the greek myths. tbc.. they become the trios of ancient greece, the gorgons the fates the seasons. Astera - Stheno then Aglaia, Basiane - Euryale then Thalia,  Periboea - medusa then Euphrosyne,
NEW STORY:
story about an entire family being isekaid, and separated when they're in the new world. the medieval setting feels old, possibly it to start with typical tropes but move past them, like the medieval thing is only in the wilderness but there are actually cities with machines and fast moving carriages, and instead of party or guild, it's a volunteer organizations with pat from the government or whoever is paying for the services and it's called teaming up or working.
i also don't like using cheats unless they make sense why for myself, for the rest of my family sure. there also won't be status screens i think, just skills and proficiency meters, and maybe a health and mana bar. mom and dad will be 40, i will be 17, k is 15, s is 14, d is 12, p is 11, z is 10. release everyone's perspective except mom and dads as separate books. mad will be one book with flipping perspectives.
    ◦    dad will be a necromancer/healer, mom will be a witch who specializes in potions/cooking/spells and music magic, but can also throw a mean punch, they both fight well, dad with a sword and mom with a staff. They also get typical anime bodies and get to go through some body dysphoria and age dysphoria.
    ◦    I'm the one that probably goes through the most trauma, and i also go through some dysphoria because possibly not human at first (small fish, but makes a deal with a sea witch ariel style to get a chance to get a walking body, cursed me anyway after i got the special treasure, but the spell hadn't fused my legs together so i took a small knife and cut the skin that few until only my legs stxayed with a few scales and stuff) but i actually get a skill that lets my body become what it actually is and use it, but the witches curse is still on me, making it hard to walk like i would probably be okay i think i'm gonna add in wings. but i'm a little too trusting but also have a lot of paranoia, have weird friends and average about almost everything. my thing would be that "i'm not strong or fast or really smart but i am creative and i can listen and be kind" very autistic coded, possible love interests? and a cheat, but also a bleeding heart. so reluctant op hero but beloved by the people, doesn't know if we should stay or go but wants to live normally and feels comfortable here.
my curse would be because i'm naturally self isolating, my memories would fade with the loss of social and physical contact, within hours or days, and starts with faces and short term to not recognizing a fundamental part of my personality like losing anxiety and becoming more confident but also losing a part of myself. called Curse of the River Lethe
    ◦    K would be a typical hero protagonist that seems very op. she'd be super fast and pretty strong, i think she'd be good with both a sword and spear, probably take a position as a knight to the prince, to impress him? she'd go up the ranks by proving herself on missions and earning new skills a lot. i think the prince would be in love with me actually, but she doesn't know who i am yet (duh anime body change). and she's eventually promoted to captain of the guard but still wants to rise to hero because she. relieves she's one and keeps telling people that. make her pride bite her in the butt when something attacks and she can't make herself move. she also brings in the most of the tech from another world trope. wants to prove herself but also wants to go back home. her curse would be how her physical abilities dependent on how other people thought of her as a person, negative traits would sap her and positive traits would replenish, so she would have to be less argumentative and prideful and actually be nice to us also not annoying TikTok stuff. Called Downfall of Icarus
    ◦    S would be the awkward, cautious hero that sticks out no matter what. she does seemingly simple solutions to overly complicated problems that impress everybody, always hides her face out of embarrassment but it intimidates everybody. just wants to go home. the curse would be the more she tries to lie, the worse her appearance gets, even if she's wearing the latest fashion or proud of her outfit. can never tell a lie consciously. called  sometijng cool here
    ◦    D would be shōnen protagonist with never ending power ups because of "training". will be op and have cheat ability, just make him as a typical protagonist as i can and see how many that reels in before making him more realistic. wants to stay. curse is
    ◦    P would be a magical girl in the city, a poor orphan found on the side of a road with a wand in her hand. she's foreign and attracts all sorts of people because she's cute, air headed and energetic, easily distracted but very complimentary. "guardian of (fun? sweets? princess?) everyone has a crush on her. wants to find mom and dad and stay here with all her new friends.
    ◦    Z would be more of a slice of life than typical fighting protagonist. like school babysitters or studio ghibli. some adventures but not life threatening.
each will have the same name published under and i will try my absolute best to try and make everything seem separated, and if people start piecing it together i'll drop the reveal crossover for each one and they'll start merging into one series until it ends in one book.
nature names like mom-hazel, S-olive, kami-willow, Z-clover, P-rose, ME-juniper, D-ceder, dad-alder last name moore.
NEW STORY:
a demon boy falls out of a closet and falls onto a girl with insomnias bed. no matter how hard he tries, he can't seem to scare her, none of the blood and gore tricks work, until he sneaks up on her, but that's not for a while. she reassured him he's still doing pretty good, but then she tells him that she watches all these crime stuff and she's a writer, so these types of things barely faze her. so it's slow burn idiots to lovers, they watch scary movies together and he's appalled she sometimes gets scared but usually not, just jump scares. anyway, he goes to school with her and she comes to the monster realm, and they fall in love.
NEW STORY:
there's this four story mall that goes underground and it's on a college campus off of a multibillionaire property's. I'm the daughter of the multibillionair, the house is huge and has different themes across the house and there are multiple ways to get inside. I get a dog but i can't have it inside except for my section of the house and outside.
it's an apocalypse and there's a factory underneath the mall making these creature dark things that my parents run or backed up the owners. they made like shadow dragons and other shadow animals. there's a giant amusement park on the property that has a basement for the factory and the servants kids have used it before there was a worldwide black out of electricity when the shadow monsters attacked. there's this roller coaster things that goes to the basement but the kids blocked the way so they only go not even half way down but still have fun. there's giant line for the cafeteria food but.
when i find a way inside there's nothing there at all. my dog is a tracker and sense the shadow monsters and gives us plenty of warning when something's there. there's an attack or something and the servants kids need shelter and there's this cove right next to the water by the horses who seem excited to greet me that goes directly into my house without even a door like cave floor to tile.
they're multi billionaires they can handle a little dirt. they cannot. all the adults are hiding in the mansion while i'm trying to figure how to get everything back to normal. i think i'm adopted. it's called mind benders. the tech that the billionaires own is like vr tech but bill ciphery dream demon way. like it make youre dreams into code and put you back into the dream to better experience the innermost thoughts and desires of your heart.
the shadow monsters are either peoples nightmares no that's different in exchange for the power to bring dreams to life using the tech as a base the shadow monsters are made and destroy the world along the way because people don't stop using it. in the empty cafeteria room, there's one thing in it. the drawing box where they pulled my adopted name out. i walk forward to open it and every single piece of paper is my name. how should i be able to stop the monsters?
the library idea where book keepers have reality magic with their books and words. i have natural ability for it and sometimes don't need a conduit of a book to bring something to life. my dog is actually a product of my powers. that's why they adopted me because things were already out of control and they wanted to see if my ability was genetic or somehow corral the monsters and stop. they have a live feed room about the the monsters are destroying places around the world.
NEW STORY:
Ms.Lanchems school for Young Ladies of Humility. Basically a school for learning how to be a maid/lady in waiting. they all learn the same thing but the Ladies focus more on one person to help and maids focus on multiple people at once. It teaches them how to teach their charges, do their jobs to look like they aren't messing up, pulling strings behind the scenes, learning codes.
Evelyn, Evie, is the firstborn of her father helping to raise her younger brother Stephen, Fen. Mixed race siblings, she looks like her mother brown hair, blue eyes, looks white, while Fen looks like their dad dark in every way. Their mom feared for their safety when they began to rebel against what she teaching in schools and started to threaten her. She was executed publically by radical rebels, and the king came down hard on them for killing her when he came back from military expansions. She hid the kids well.
There was a statue put up for her sacrifice because as soon as her death hit, all of her teachings had come to fruition and the economy boomed, literacy flourished and people realized their mistake. They didn't find Evie or Fen until a group of soldiers came across two children living on the outskirts of a school village, Evie in her final year of Ms.Lanchems and Fen in his 1st year of Magic Scholar training. They survived by hunting and trading furs, food, favors, and other goods. In the meantime, their father the king remarried and but had no heirs so the nobles were having the king foster their children in hopes of catching his eye to name them the heir, and he did name a family, Rostonair Siblings to be the best contenders for the crown with their many accomplishments.
They bring Evie and Fen back to the palace, and it creates a divide. The female  ruler is in charge of in kingdom affairs and the male ruler is in charge of out kingdom affairs. Who would be named heir? The blood relatives or the children who've worked for years to be worthy of getting the position. The queen sets up a challenge, to divide the kingdom into half, have one pair of siblings each rule a half together to see how they do it. But give them a few years because they're so young. At the time of finding them, they were like, 15 and 11 The controversy starts at when Evie and Ares Rostonair are 21 and Fen and Hestia are 18.
The story starts when their mother gives them to the Lanchem Orphanage. "Take care of each other and always raise your head and smile even when it's hard." It's hard at first, the other children berate them for being abandoned by their own mother. It's gets better when Evie can leave to go to school and Fen learns to go to the library by himself. Evie has a bad first day, ending with getting lost in the woods in the rain chasing Fen.
She finds a small cat (that turns into a dragon) that's hurt and finds a boy in the woods. He's the heir of Mountain King. He offers to lead her out of the woods if she tells him stuff about her. She tells him she can't because she's looking for her brother too. The cat backs her up and they go looking for Fen together. They have a bit of fun racing in the rain until Evie turns so sharply when Fen yells for her. Valley leads them out of the forest and tells Evie to come again he had fun playing with her, and it would be easy to find her again because she was always leaking magic all over the place.
Over the next few visits, she gets lessons on how to contain her excess magic and draw it from her surrounding instead, making her oceans of magic absurdly deep and controlled. Valleys people have a spiritual connection to the The Guardians, animal gods that protect the wild by giving the leaders special abilities to be Divine Beasts and change form. Valley chooses to be a leopard most of the time but can change size to be small. Lanchems teaches her about poisons, waltzes, ettiquite, strategies. She's done at 15 which is when Valley warns her that people have been following her. The people are guards who take her after her graduating class ceremony to the heart of the kingdom, about a week. They present her and Fen to the king who they recognize and he sees them and is like. Those. Those my kids. The queen is nice enough. Lots of tears.
But before they can be recognized, he gives them a lower palace to live in, which some think is shameful. He tries to give them maids and butlers but Evie refuses because she's been running the orphanage while in Lanchems and wants to get a head start on what she thinks will be a career as a lady in waiting. He gives her a a friend tho, Mara who was her friend at Lanchems. and Fen has a boy, Ryder, who he just met.  At her 16th birthday, they are presented to the kingdom as the royal prince and princess but not heirs.
They meet the other foster kids and the Rodonairs. Hestia initially has a crush on Fen. They subtly backhand them with noble language which Evie knows because Lanchems and Fen knows because Evie knows. And then Valley crashes the party as a leopard. He says the Mountain King sent him to be fostered at the castle. The family agrees and Evie jumps to hug him, he returns it.
Valley suggests playing a game, Evie and Fen immediately start pulling off their extra layers while the others watch in horror. "Haven't you ever played? You can't win with all those layers and he can start the game at any moment." Ready Go! They take off like rockets into the woods of the guardians and disappear while the other nobles struggle to keep up. Valley catches everyone until it's just Evie left and he pounces on her "Caught you~" Forward to moments of growing up and people realizing they’re really ducking cool
Anyway, they're 21 and the queen suggests the separate ruling kingdoms without interference from them. Evie is in a courting relationship with a boy who berates her but she's convincing herself she likes him.
The challenge is just what Valley needs to separate them and get her to see how strong she is for herself. At first, it's a bit of a disaster for both sides. Fen and Ares are different people and so are Hestia and Evie. Evie and Fen discuss and decide that it's better if they switch roles every once in a while because they are very similar thinking and can fill in each other's weaknesses. Ares and Hestia tho, they argue a bit and decide and even more separated in and outer. Valley only really supports Even kingdom (Evie and Fen) There's a voting and Valley puts his vote first on Evie and Fen, and most everyone follows suit

Undertale & Deltarune Theory: Connected By A Temporal Rift (And Steven Universe Theory)
we know that Gaster fell into his own creation, but what if it was a Temporal Rift that he made...?
that or he could still be around and he is that tiny speck that is seemingly swimming in the lava close to that core thing that Alphys explains generates type of energy that uses magic electricity.
I can’t be the only one who notice there is a small speck in the lava that seems to be swimming back and forward, and for all we know it could be Gaster.
but it could be possible that the reason why travel between Undertale and Deltarune is possible for those who live in those two different timelines and realities, is because there is a Temporal Rift present that was possibly created by Gaster on accident.
The Temporal Rift was likely going to be Gaster’s downfall, as well as for someone who’s name is [REDACTED] and speaks in lower-case wingdings and possibly isn’t Gaster but is someone who was close to him and possibly fell into Gaster’s creation along with him.
no matter if Gaster is Sans and Papyrus’s Dad or Brother, he possibly did some pretty messed up stuff in the name of science, magic and trying to get everyone out of the underground.
but I like the idea that Dadster and Broster are two separate Gasters, like the Dad being Gaster Sr. and the Broster being Gaster Jr.
Grandpa Semi could very well be Dadster/Gaster Sr.’s Father,
and the Grandfather of Broster/Gaster Jr., Sans and Papyrus.
and for all we know, Grandpa Semi might be a little “not there” and be one of those Grandparents that will either say “back in my day.”
or talk about how he met Gaster’s Mother, and a plot twist would be that Gaster’s Mom isn’t a skeleton, but a Witch.
Witches in Undertale and Deltarune, would look just like humans but there could be some things about them, I know that in Rosario+Vampire, it is said that Witches are in between being a Monster and Human, being like a bridge between the two worlds.
this could be the case for any Witches in Ficto-Universes.
my new fan headcanon about Sans, Papyrus and Gaster is that their monster race are monogender, meaning that all magical skeletons are all going to be born appearing male.
but they are able to reproduce with other monsters and even some humans,
another way they could reproduce is Asexually, by taking a part of their bones and placing some of their soul essence into it and it will become a baby.
if Sans was Steven Quartz Universe’s Human Half, he could still end up becoming a magical skeleton by either magical resurrection or reincarnation.
I believe that if Steven is going to become Sans, it will only be his Human Half that does so, but only if his gem ends up separated from him again.
if that happens, and Human-Steven (who is still part Gem, possibly by some organic gem stuff that is part of his body that is fused with his human organic dna...) would be the one who would logically become Sans, because his gem half that is Pink-Steven, would possibly take too long to reform and Human-Steven will be too weak or too hurt or both to go to them and refuse back together.
there could be a time limit on how long a human-gem hybrid can be separated from their other half who is also technically their sibling.
if a human goes too long without being rejoined with their gem sibling, they will die and possibly wont be able to refuse back to how they were before.
we could view that the version of Steven that becomes Sans, is the one we see wearing that blue shirt from the movie, while the Steven that wears the black shirt in Steven Universe Future, is actually Pink-Steven who was able to reform not only his light body, but also a organic clone body of how he and Steven/Sans were before their accident.
both Pink-Steven and Human-Steven could share memories and even have copy of their mother and grandmother’s memories, which leads to some confused feelings when they believe they are their Mom but they really aren’t.
I believe the reason why Pink-Steven appears the way he does when he first appears, is because he is just a fragment of Rose.
Rose who is a Pink Diamond, possibly made a newly created Pink Diamond and when she fragmented a part of her light and placed into that new Diamond, and the Diamond was already fused with the human baby, the fragment that would become Rose and Greg’s son, ends up splitting to two, one stays in the diamond and the other goes into the human half and possibly fused with a soul that would reincarnate as Steven’s Human Half.
this would mean that when the gem fragment of Rose had split into two, one staying in the diamond and the other going into the human body, and merging with the soul inside, it caused the soul to become a permanent fusion between a gem’s fragment that makes up a Consciousness Manifestation Of Light that had a copy of their Gem Parent’s Memories, and whatever soul that ended up in the human baby that would be named Steven.
I like to think that Rose isn’t the same Pink Diamond that had abandoned Spinel, and it was Rose’s Creator/Mother the Original Pink Diamond.
Rose would be Pink II and her son would be Pink III.
Rose could have copy of Pink I’s memories, but when she remembers about Spinel, it was too late to try to go get her.
Rose could have some resentment of Pink I, who made her to do her job while she left to parts unknown, if this theory is true, maybe Pink I who would technically be Steven’s Grandmother....
maybe she would of changed her form just like what Rose did, but keeping her diamond appearance.
Pearl likely was never told the truth, and forgot that Rose was not the original Pink Diamond, and was a Diamond that was created by Pink I, and Pearl was likely hit with a rejuvenator to make her forget.
if Steven Universe had some connection to Undertale and Deltarune,
it would explain the whole Steven Quartz Universe and Connie Mahaswaran have Sans and Chara hidden in their names.
plus when the Original Steven died along with the other Steven Clones,
each one of them ended up being reborn in what would become the different AUs of Undertale.
Gaster might of fell into the void, or his very being was split into two, one falling into the temporal rift and the other half into the void.
since both halves would still be a full soul, they wouldn’t be fragments, but fragments of Gaster may have broken off of him when his body and soul had became two, one falling into the void and the other the temporal rift and ending up in Deltarune.
a Temporal Rift could be a place where it could lead to many different Alternate Realities, and is known by the Irken as a Florpus.
for all we know, Richard from the Amazing World Of Gumball, wasn’t truly effecting the world by having a job, but someone had open up a really unstable temporal rift.
it is also possible that the True Lab in Undertale, isn’t in the same universe where the game takes place, and might really be in Deltarune or the Original World that Sans and Papyrus came from before Undertale and Deltarune’s Universes were born.
and that Original World, is possible where Gaster originally came from.
Undertale is likely a world created by Prince Asriel,
while Deltarune is a world created by Kris of Undertale, when the two of them died, they ended up creating two separate realities.
I do have a theory about how Kris could have a counterpart in Undertale, I will talk about that theory in the next post after this.
also there could be some secrets of Sans we have yet to discover, besides the whole him leaving a secret message in the crossword puzzle where he is telling the Player/Frisk that we need to go on a diet, some might not be able to find the letters to put the words together, but they are there...I guess I was just being weird enough to find it.
we know that it is possible that the Sans in Deltarune, was possibly one of the versions of Sans from one of the different timelines of Undertale, and likely moved from that world to Deltarune to keep his little brother safe.
Alphys in Deltarune, is likely one in the same with one of the Undertale timelines of Alphys.
the Monster Kid or Monster Teen in Deltarune, might be another version of Monster Kid from Undertale or turn out to be their Older Sibling.
it is nice to know that Kris is Nonbinary in the canon of Deltarune, and I guess depending on the Player’s view on them, they could be a Nonbinary-Boy or Nonbinary-Girl.
at least I hope that the info I read before about Kris being Nonbinary is true.
Alphys and Sans along with the other scientists in the True Lab, can travel to the two different worlds by the use of the elevator.
Alphys might only leave Undertale in certain timelines in the Neutral and Geno Routes, and will head to Deltarune to live there.
the Temporal Rift that Gaster would end up falling into, became a part of his experiments.
when Alphys is evacuating everyone to the True Lab, she is likely taking them to Deltarune and they would possibly have to live in the dark world or a secret underground town or replace their counterparts from that world and throwing them into the dark world or somewhere they can’t escape.
some theories of Undertale and Deltarune, might only end up being non-canon while others end up being canon by the surprise of the fans.
like that one time with Kris eating all of the pie, and in Chapter 2 they did end up doing that, but I believe they only did that after coming home from breaking into the library where they had open up a dark fountain in the computer lab.
Kris’s body could have another soul inside it, besides the Player’s Proxy-Soul, and that said Proxy-Soul might be a fusion of Prince Asriel and their human sibling from Undertale.
then it could be the unknown anomaly that is making Kris open up those fountains at night, or it could be possible it is really Hollow-Kris that is doing it.
Hollow-Kris being a Soulless, and before we the Players come along, at some point either when their brother went to college or sometime before that...
Kris ends up losing their soul, and they are left with a heart shape hollow-soul.
a hollow-soul looks like a normal soul, but it has a heart shaped hole in the middle with no filling in the center.
the Proxy-Soul, let’s Kris have a soul again, and we could view it as a soul transplant and when it is placed in Kris, it becomes their new soul.
if magic does exist in Deltarune’s Light World, the reason why the Adults don’t bring it up, is because it can be dangerous if misused.
Kris could of lost their original soul or some part of it, when hanging out with Catti.
Kris could still have half of their soul still in their body, but it is not able to fight back the hollow-soul that had originally had their full soul in it.
if Kris still has half their soul in their original body, like being a half a heart and being the blue turquoise color.
the other half of their soul could be held by the one who places the Player’s Proxy-Soul into Kris instead of the vessels that the Players make in the start of the game.
the Proxy-Soul let’s Kris be themselves but the same time, not fully, but it is enough to keep the hollow-soul of Kris under some kind of control.
but the hollow-soul might get more control in the dark world when we do certain actions, like when we do the Snowgrave.
if the LV of a person is still at LV 1, the Hollow-Soul might be less dangerous.
but the higher the LV the more likely the Hollow-Soul could become dangerous and take control in the light world during the night, like what Kris’s hollow-soul self does when taking full control away from both the Player and Kris.
Gaster who possibly fell into a temporal rift, is possibly the one pulling the strings and is working with the Knight or is the Knight.
the Player can choose different paths in Deltarune, but if we go down the Snowgrave or any form of No Mercy-Run, we could be playing into the Knight’s hands or Gaster’s hands.
or Sans’s hands, if the whole Beware The Man Who Speaks In Hands,
is a secret message that is warning the Player about Sans and not to fully trust him, or at least the version of him from another world, who appears along with the Sans that belongs in Undertale.
while Sans is with his brother, the other Sans is likely is the one alone most of the time, and disappears if we try to go back where we last saw him in one of the areas of Snowdin.
it could be possible that Snowdin is the way it is because of Noelle, but that is just a theory.
if Deltarune and Undertale are part of Gaster’s experiments even if they were born from his, Sans, Papyrus, Alphys and the Other Scientists original home world.
maybe Gaster is trying to use the two worlds as a templates to make a new version of their original home world before the accident that involved the prince and their human sibling had happen.
the reason why Sans can never go home and gave up trying to hope to go home, might be because the original world he came from, was no longer there and he, his brother, Gaster and the Other Scientist had survived because of the temporal barrier that is around the true lab.
when Sans, Alphys, Gaster and the other scientists left the true lab and into Undertale, they found out that everything is different, and they also found this out when they head to Deltarune.
Undertale and Deltarune could be cleaved versions of their original world.
and was alternate from their original world, and it could be possible that only a few residents of the two worlds have memories of the original world.
King Asgore Dreemurr, likely remembers the Original World and doesn’t lose his memories during the resets, same goes for Toriel from Undertale, who could be hiding the fact that she is immune to the resets taking away her memories.
the only way that King Asgore and Toriel could lose their memories of a past timeline, is if the Hyper God Of Death Asriel takes full control over the Reset.
even if there is no reset in Deltarune, Kris can end up going back in time from where they last saved.
they can’t go back any further than that, and can’t use a Reset to take them back to the moment before the game started.
not unless the Reset button fell from the Undertale World and fell into the Deltarune World, and it could be possible that Kris’s determination might be way stronger than Frisk’s.
well the Reset might of originally belong to Flowey, and Frisk only got it because they have the Plunder ability and used it before the Player shows up.
the plunder ability is different from a copy ability, if Frisk had only copy the ability from Flowey, they both would have the power to Reset at the same time, but could take turns on who gets to reset.
the Plunder ability is different, it let’s the one take away the ability of another, so the Reset that Frisk has, was Flowey’s originally until they used the plunder ability on Flowey and took it away from him.
it is possible that Frisk still has the plunder ability, but chooses not to use it again until after they leave the underground or whenever they feel like it.
they could use the plunder on Sans without the Player knowing, this would let them take away his Gaster Blasters, if a Monster or someone like Flowey has a special ability that has a Reset or Gaster Blasters, then Frisk could use the Plunder to take those abilities away and use those abilities themself.
Gaster could of used magic to block Frisk from using the Plunder after they had used it on Flowey to take away their Reset.
Gaster is likely in the void that is in the dark world, and it connected to both the Undertale World and Deltarune World, and he could see what is going on in both worlds, and before the Player ends up playing Undertale, he watches Frisk using the Plunder ability on Flowey and taking away the Reset.
if the void and dark world are one in the same, and if there are ways to leave by the form of the fountains, Gaster might not be able to leave because he lost some parts of himself, and he would need a vessel in order to fully leave.
and that vessel could surprisingly be Kris, and when “Kris” is pulling out the Proxy-Soul of the Player, it is really Gaster doing this so he can open up more fountains for his own motives that might not be fully known by the Player but the Players who play Deltarune and had played Undertale, could make some guesses and theories as to why Gaster is using Kris as his vessel and making them open up the fountains and making portals to the different dark worlds.
we just have to wait and see who or what is taking over Kris during the night and pulling the Proxy-Soul out of them.
Kris might not even know that Gaster is the one pulling the Proxy-Soul out, and when it does happen, Kris’s half-soul ends up going to a hibernation type stasis.
Kris only knows about the Player, and doesn’t know there is another entity inside them and causes them to pull out the Proxy-Soul so the entity that is possibly Gaster, can use Kris’s body to open up the fountains to the different dark worlds, or different lands in the different parts of the dark world.
if Gaster has been trapped in a temporal rift, and then fell into the void/dark world, he wouldn’t be able to leave and if he did try to leave to the deltarune world, he might appear as a shadow like phantom and the sun might end up hurting him, because his “body” is nothing but darkness and only appears like a “shadow” but unlike a normal shadow, Gaster’s form can be hurt by sunlight.
that might be one of the reasons he needs Kris, and he can only get full control of them during the night time, which also let’s him pull the Player’s Proxy-Soul out and even make Kris create the fountains in different parts of the Hometown.
if that turns out to be true, then that would be a pretty big plot twist.
along with the whole Gaster falling into a Temporal Rift first before finally falling into the void, that would also be the dark world.

Roleplay Search!
Looking for more 1x1 rps! A bit about me, I’m a minor, I’ve been rping for 5 or so years, my preferred platform is discord, I’m semi-lit and..... a tad awkward. As in pretty unskilled in the art of casual communication. Rp ideas under cut
Pokemon! I’m keep going back to my pokemon obsession and I have a couple of ideas - Literally just a pmd style thing. Maybe not the humans-turning into pokemon, but a pair of young pokemon becoming explorers and eventually taking down an ancient evil.  - Evil Team grunt x Undercover agent. Or just, platonic. It doesn’t have to be romance, I just really like enemies to friends stuff. One of the characters is a teen/young adult who joined an evil team, and gets paired up with another new recruit who is trying to take down the group from the inside. Could either be casual shennigans, or following the story (from the evil team’s perspective.)  - Ultra beast fusion rp! Lusamine finds out about Nihilego’s ability to fuse with humans, and thinks “gee, what if we could do this with other UBs or pokemon.” So she takes a bunch of kids, children of aether employees, interns or volunteers eager to help, and fuses them with ultra beasts. Those kids would be our characters and.... well, I don’t have any real plot ideas. If it’s interesting I’d love to brainstorm ideas tho
MHA rp idea. Our OCs are some aspiring heroes who’ve been hurt time and time again by hero society. So they become vigilantes, fighting villains while also trying to expose the corruption among the heroes
Magical Girl rp! Our characters are a pair or group of magical girls(or just magical people in general) connected to these flowers called Eternablooms. Slowly they find out that these flowers aren’t as nice as they thought and are actually parasitic and ultimately detrimental to their health
MLP, I love my little pony, and the worldbuilding and general themes of friendship. Also it gives me an excuse to draw ponies - A pair of unicorns are chosen to succeed the princesses (or at least train to do so) and a few days later the Princesses are suddenly snatched up by some evil force. And so begins their journey to find the elements of harmony and defeat (or redeem) whoever threw equestria into chaos.  - While traditional ‘magic’ is restricted to unicorns and a few other animals, it doesn’t stop normal ponies from trying. Like our characters! Two magic enthusiasts who are hornless, but willing to search for ways to master magic regardless.  - Newbie changeling ruler and newly ascended alicorn are forced to work together to face a bigger threat. Preferably, my oc would be the changeling since I already have one, but hey! I’m always looking for an excuse to make more mlp ocs
PJO, a group of demigods arrive at CHB and immediately get smacked in the face by a prophecy.... Do I have an actual idea for this propehcy? Unfortunately, no. I just want to use my demigod ocs
Homestuck, I read this stupid webcomic years ago, and it will never let me go.  - Flarping trolls? I don’t more to add onto this... just... flarping trolls.  - Cherub session! We each play a cherub who are entering a 2/4 player session together.  - Two player session, a pair of wannabe players with no friends willing to entertain them, end up playing an incredibly glitched session alone. The difficultly has been raised drastically, their prototyping has gone horribly wrong and ontop of that their medium just wasn’t built correctly. Humans or trolls work! Or both!
The Owl House, a couple of teen witches begin their slow descent into wild witchery. Probably more casual and school oriented?
And uh, I think that’s enough. Too much maybe. If any of these ideas are interesting send me a pm here or a friend request to Jupiter#7701 on discord!!

I just binged Witch Hat Atelier, the anime announcement reminded me I needed to catch up.  I read up to chapter 56 , and lord help me but I have Thoughts. It is 1 AM and I should be working on my thesis, but I’m doing this instead.
First of all. I am literally writing my thesis on comic book panels, and Shirohama is a genius at putting a layout together. She fills her gutters with ornate decorations which must take a fucking eternity to put together. Panels practically lift off the page, and characters jump between them, lean against the borders, collapse into them, are crushed by them. I am obsessed with that shit.
I am also a typesetter, and I stand in awe of the work that Water, Botany, Hypomanix, and Yayi are doing on the series. (We work for the same group, but are on separate projects, plug plug). I sometimes question their font choices (yaboy fucking hates script fonts), but their sfx conversions are inspired. They make me want to get better at my craft. Keep it up guys.
The art is obviously brilliant. I don’t have a lot to say about it, honestly, it’s basically mechanically perfect. Shirohama is in love with art. It shows on every page. The range she demonstrates is extraordinary, all the characters have very distinct visual identities, and are instantly recognizable in both the normal illustration style and in their more exaggerated representational style. It’s surprisingly hard to do both and especially hard to find the right balance between them. Also, observe this creature.
Tumblr media
Theeemes. When I first started reading this series in 2016 I opened my third eye and predicted that it was gonna be one of those “villain with a point” plots, with optional “take the third option” twist. Six (fuck, six) years later, and I’m right on all counts. Maybe not the most impressive called shot in the world, the story wasn’t particularly subtle with its foreshadowing. It’s almost a little disappointing, honestly. I’m not like, upset, it set things up effectively and is now delivering on them, I just thought it might have gone for something a little more complicated.
Other stuff its got going on. This is not a negative criticism, this is just something that I personally find very frightening: Violations of bodily autonomy, in the Nina vein. There’s one pretty direct parallel to her early on, but the shit that really freaks me out is the forced tattooing. In the grand scheme of things its maybe not the most intimidating threat, but it carries such heavy in-universe consequences and the characters react with such visceral horror at the prospect that you kinda can’t help feeling it too. Very few series have managed to freak me out like this. Only other example (besides fma obv) is Shy, another series I am behind on. It basically just an average shonen thing, and the violence it depicts really isn’t all that different from its contemporaries. There’s just something so visceral about it. Freaks me out. I’ve read Berserk. I’ve read Vinland Sage. I ain’t squeemish. So when I say that very few things in either of those series really scared me as much as a girl breaking her arm in Shy did, understand where that’s coming from. Shy also has the bodily autonomy thing going on, people being forced to wear rings that corrupt them against their will. I did not mean to talk about Shy that long. Yeah, so Witch Hat. We got non-consensual tattooing, people getting fused with animals, people getting mindwiped, people getting turned to stone and shit. That shit scares me a lot. That’s the intended effect, and it definitely succeeds in that, so well done I guess? Please stop though.
Worldbuilding. This is simultaneously Witch Hat’s greatest strength and its greatest weakness. It has one of the most thoroughly explored and well-thought-out magic systems I’ve ever seen. It’s practical applications are both inventive and perfectly logical. Magic feels like a tool to be used in this world by craftsman, not some nebulous force of convenience, and that is an achievement in itself. They talk about the mechanical details of the magic system a lot. It’s all almost always interesting, but it gets kind of exhausting after a while. It could be because I read the whole thing on my phone with that skinny ass script font (seriously guys why) in one sitting, but I feel like the comic would benefit from replacing some of those magic lectures with pages that have no words on them. Let the reader breath for a bit, let them explore the page in a less structured way for a bit, appreciate the art in more detail.
That was a lot of words to say that I like this comic. Interested to see where we go next. It is still 1 AM. Goodnight.

hbo spn storylines, drabbles, ideas, thoughts, wishlist, whatever you may call it. it’s messy, nothing makes sense and pretty sure a lot of these contradict each other
more of sam at stanford with jessica/flashbacks. jessica potentially lives but is revealed to be a demon (but she developed actual feelings for sam and really did come to care for him because a demon falling in love with a human would be SO interesting) OR she lives but her memory gets wiped like dean did to lisa OR she dies like she did but she is a ghost that haunts sam (he welcomes it but eventually he lets her go -> character arc). he still dreams about her though and he has her keepsakes with him wherever he goes, her rings, her favourite book, anything that was left of her from the fire
you have to be extremely careful when making deals with demons because they are cunning and evil creatures. they will follow the rules of the deal but will find loopholes to put some sadistic twist on the terms. you want money? of course, too bad you’ll be arrested for fraud before you can use any of it and spend the next ten years in jail before i drag you to hell. you want a perfect husband? sure he’ll love you. in fact, he’ll love you so much he’ll keep you locked up in the basement to keep you safe etc etc. saving a person often becomes the person that causes or leads to your death.
the creation of jack: after s5, when lucifer is trapped in the cage again lucifer fuses his own soul with a human soul to create jack, who escapes to earth to find sam and castiel. i have a longer post about this saved in my drafts
lucifer is trapped for good in the cage after s5 but if he was to return again, dean would kill him while sam would kill michael - this would be nice parallels and a sort of fulfillment of the “one brother must kill the other” prophecy because one brother DO kill another brother, just not their own
more azazel and how he came to the plan of how to free lucifer; opening a hell gate earlier, more experimentations with the demon blood etc
mary was infected with the blood when she was a baby, sam is the first and only second generation special child (longer post about that here)
personally, i want to see more and know more about john and mary’s relationship. when mary died, john and mary had fulfilled their destiny (having sam and dean) so does that mean that his love and dedication to mary post her death was falsely fabricated by the angels to ensure sam and dean would grow up in ideal conditions to become hunters? or maybe, after mary’s death, john wakes up from the spell with two kids he doesn’t recognize and a wife he thinks he loved, but the memories of the past years of his life are like a fever dream; he never wanted to live in a town like this nor was he interested in having kids? but here the house is, and here are his kids, but now he’s alone and empty and with no answers. (idk i just find john and mary and their relationship very fascinating) if the latter, if john and mary see each other again it’s like the spell activates again and they become blindly in love with each other, but once gone, they return to their confused and hazey state of mind, like just woken up from a coma
i do like mary coming back but i love how in s5 when she wasn’t found in heaven it was hinted that she was just discarded because she had fulfilled her “purpose” and i think this adds to the whole notion of how heaven and angels can be really cruel AND how mary is this mythical, religious figure to both sam and dean and we only get to know her through their lenses, like religion and faith
ruby is present for a longer amount of time to make the reveal even more shocking. at one point or another, dean does actually trust her and they all work together on cases for a while. ruby’s backstory as a witch is more explored. i like her death in s4 because she’s in this total state of euphoria and has achieved a goal only she was entrusted with, and she is so convinced sam will understand, until sam holds her down while dean carves her heart out. so we either keep that or she serves lucifer for a while (until he kills her which she is happy about because of her blind loyalty to him, could again mirror dean and john/castiel and heaven) or she serves lucifer and like crowley she realizes lucifer will kill demons after humans (redemption arc, but i don’t really like that, let her be evil!!)
dean and sam helps bela out of her deal and she becomes their go-to person when they need a magic item or book. she doesn’t like it but she owes them. regularly hooks up with jo.
angels are really hollow soldiers - they only follow orders and don’t understand the concept free will or choice or individuality at all. they are extremely righteous and strike without warning often on a whim, often very bloody (explosions a la castiel in swan song). if something fall into what they consider justice they will kill it. no concept of love, attraction or gender. real form can’t be perceived by humans unless they want them to, which leads to eyes melting (pamela) or breaking a person’s mind (in 5.16 zachariah actually says that sam and dean sees him in his vessel bc they’re ‘limited’. so.)
castiel, anna, maybe uriel and some others are exceptions to this, but only becomes so after longer exposure to human’s world. even then, they don’t change their violent whims, just the reasoning and where their loyalty lies
hbo spn is s1-5 stretched out for 8-10 seasons with the aesthetics of s1-2. i’m cutting out demon dean, purgatory, the mark of cain, the men of letters, the alphas, leviathatan, god being the real villain all along and the other worlds because it was just too much and far remived from the roadtrip aesthetic. keeping kevin, charlie (she is introduced via ash bc they’re hacker friends), the trials, rowena, uuuh the angels falling is such an interesting concept but idk if it would fit. maybe metatron? but his motivations are different. soullessness + the concept of souls might be kept if it’s explained better. i’m torn on whether or not to include the campbells
hell, heaven and purgatory are explained but only seen in glimpses, keep these ideas ambiguous and up to interpretation outside of what we hear. remember the line ‘hell is...well, it’s like hell. even for demons’? leave it at that. the exception is 5.16 bc that episode fucks so hard
if we end on swan song and let the show be the tragedy it is, i want to keep the ambiguous ending. is that sam or lucifer? if it’s sam, will he contact dean or walk away? we will never know! there is also no ‘the world is ending’ more than once, it really lost its impact after the second or third time.
idk how i feel about the men of letters - it is logical that there would be organized hunting and an established network and system on how to do things, but for the sake of keeping it hbo-style and grounded, there are no networks beyond the roadhouse and singer’s salvage yard.
i want sam and dean not have a permanent home except the impala, motels and impala ONLY. the bunker had potential but it was just for the sake of convenience it was there with all the lore and answers they needed when it was necessary. maybe eventually they do stop travelling so much when it becomes more about the Big Stuff instead of the episodic cases that requires driving all the time but it will be like an abandoned house in the middle of nowhere. i want sam and dean to never have a physical house as a home but they scrape together whatever they have make something similar to a show
as the show progresses, sam and dean become pretty hated by other hunters because they’ve started apocalypse and have an increasingly shitty reputation. and john was an infamous good hunter but also a dick. everybody knows that people who work with the winchesters often end up dead, that one brother will sacrifice anything and anyone to save the other and that they frequently work alongside demons. even the ones they DO work with (jo, ellen, bobby, rufus, bela) are hesitant to be involved with them
sam’s powers are strong but after killing lilith and the truth revealed to him, he represses the powers in shock and fear of how blinded he was by them and the rush of power they gave him. a little more about how sam fears what the lust for power and strength did to him. he continues to repress his powers, often to a dangerous point where he will be on death’s door as a result of not using them. when meeting jack and mentoring him in using his powers, jack asks him about sam’s powers after sensing them. sam eventually decides to lead by example and embraces his powers again, but remains extremely careful about using them (this also fulfills dean’s arc of having to let go of the holy-innocent-pure-ideal-not a person but an idealized version of sam-little brother sam he has put on a pedestal for so long)
bobby is viewed as a father figure by sam and dean but bobby makes it clear he doesn’t want that burden or relationship in his life after his wife died. he makes this clear to them too, but sam and dean have fucked up perceptions of parental figures so they don’t think bobby means it (they just latch on to whatever parental figures they can find)
we see more of sam’s relationship with the side characters; sam and jo hunt together on occasion, he hangs out with ash and talks hacking when visiting the roadhouse. he and ellen loves playing poker together. if anything, dean is the one who’s isolated - he only ever really cared about mary, john, sam and cassie, and never really had any friends. sam is way more well adjusted and sociable after spending time at stanford where he’s had conversations that didn’t only revolve around dead bodies and lore.
this could also feed into dean’s extreme abandonment issues and isolation he feels and how this would affect his psyche
sam and dean are both unknowingly prepared to become the perfect vessels; sam loses his humanity by becoming more and more like lucifer (defying his father and his will) while dean becomes prepared by doing what michael did; casting his brother away in his time of need (blindly following his father and his will). very much like in s4 but even more intense and brutal (i love angst :))
we see different hybrids; demon/human (antichrist), human/(arch)angel (nephilim) and demon/angel (???), but none of them are all powerful bc narratively that’s really boring. they’re strong but have very specific powers that affects them and/or their surroundings in catastrophic ways (but no other worlds bs, we stick to the road trip aesthetic, keep it grounded). i want the only all powerful character to be god but he doesn’t show up at all, he’s the ultimate absent father. is it chuck? we never find out!
powers would for example include giving people diseases, force anyone close to them to tell the truth (not consciously, it’s just the air around them), read minds, create storms, light things on fire when they’re angry, make people hallucinate etc. like fucked up shit but not things that are too grande because again - that’s really boring
abbadon, the princes of hell and the four horsemen are more fleshed out villains instead of the one season reign the each had.
being a prince of hell is a title that is inherited - after azazel dies, sam gets the title because he is the one with azazel’s blood in him OR meg does, but idk if that would be as interesting (if she actually was his daughter)
it remains a horror show throughout, lots of gore and blood
the moral code and ethics of the brothers are the opposite of the beginning; dean thinks in black and white, sam sees shades of grey and individuals instead of what they are. however, as the show progresses, their train of thought becomes opposites; dean becomes more open to how people are true evil and how monsters are often victims of their circumstance while sam becomes harsher and less forgiving after ruby’s betrayal along with finding out the truth of his existence and how there’s been demons around his entire life. eventually they’re on the same page and they see the circumstances.
on the other hand; i also really fuck with the idea of dean maintaining his black and white morals on that all monsters=inherently evil, humans=inherently pure and good, but he is the only human on team free will. sam is half demon, castiel is an angel, jack is a nephilim, rowena is a witch, garth is a werewolf, mary is a zombie etc
demons become demons in hell by agreeing to become the torturer and thus giving up their humanity to be free of pain, does that mean they could become humans again by regaining some humanity? by doing good deeds? (potentially this is confirmed with jessica and how she came to love sam; genuine love and care for a human could reverse the demon process?) this also means dean was a demon in hell but was purified/turned back again when castiel raised him. this also plays into dean becoming like michael; in trying to absolve himself from what he did in hell he becomes ruthless, unforgiving and righteous to evil, much like the angels, regardless of his personal connection to a person and what he would consider “evil”
dean and pacifisim: after dean is cured from being a demon/the mark of cain/is made aware of his blind righteousness that he used as an excuse to kill, he becomes firmly determined to reign in his anger and violent tendencies by becoming a pacifist (like sam in s11) as a way to redeem all the blood he’s spilled. of course in his profession and true dean fashion he won’t be able to do it 100% so he decides to only act in self defense, and he only goes batshit violent on the offense when it’s about protecting sam
OR. dean’s self righteousness becomes his own downfall; the belief that all evil must be eradicated, refusal to see the circumstances and the shades of grey is what pushes him to lose his humanity and become a demon and therefore, in a potential ending the ruler of hell, because i think it would such an interesting journey from a to b, that dean starts out human, revels in his holiness, executes and kills in the name of his own holiness in the belief that he’s becoming the ultimate angel, the ultimate hero when it’s doing the opposite. if this happened then sam would take the opposite route; starts as a human, becomes more and more demonic, stops himself and returns to his hopeful and optimistic self, has faith and humility and that is what makes him ascend from abomination to purified and holy (trials).
this could be a perfect 10 season structure as well: s1-5 are when sam and dean start off humans; dean becomes holy and as close to an angel a human can be, while sam drinks the demon blood and almost becomes one to gain the freedom and power he wants, but begins to turn it around to send lucifer back to hell. s6-10 is when dean becomes the unholy and sam becomes the holy even though neither realize because now there’s no grand master plan - this is who they are, who they choose themselves. don’t know how this ould end though; either as normal humans again (but there wouldn’t really be a ”normal” after everything) or they really go off the rails with sam like ruling heaven (not as god though, just as a good and just man) and dean ruling hell. castiel is human and stays on earth with jack.
the gothic americana aesthetic is kept throughout the entire show and is only shot on film
after s5 castiel returns to heaven to help restore order, and he takes charge for a little while, but eventually returns to earth after trying to introduce democracy to angels who didn’t get it. in his place, anna takes over and she rules heaven well (after trying to kill mary when going back in time she isn’t killed by michael, but narrowly escapes and remains in hiding to heal until castiel reaches out and finds her)
when finding out they are The Vessels and will be brought back regardless of what they try, sam and dean explore what this means more. dean throws himself into dangers and to protect others. he is burned, blown up, stabbed, electrocuted, beheaded and eaten, but wakes up the next morning in his bed without a scratch, without any pain and memories of his deaths. he revels in this untouchability. sam kills himself over and over only to be resurrected again and again by lucifer. he remembers the pain and blood.
that being said, while dean is like angel royalty, sam is demon royalty. the demons don’t go after him, they don’t hurt him. some even offer up themselves to be drained of blood, even after lilith’s death. it makes it really difficult to stay clean but he pulls through with dean and castiel actually supporting him. to help sam get through his addiction, dean stops drinking alcohol and they go through their withdrawal together
the angels almost worship dean as the michael sword and have an open disgust towards sam for being lucifer’s vessel - they always answer dean’s prayers and calls for help, they follow his orders if need be and don’t hesitate to heal him if he needs it. sam could pray until his vocal chords bleed or call out for help while holding his guts in his hands; none of the angels would come to his aid. the only one who answers sam’s prayers is lucifer as a voice in sam’s head or a hallucination. sam could call demons to help him out but he refuses
sam isn’t the first hunter to drink demon blood, to try to enhance his own abilities using the supernatural as a means to get there - there are hunters who have altered themselves with parts from werewolves and vampires to become better hunters, like the styne family (the guys from s10), blurring the lines again of what’s good and human vs what is evil and inhumane
if angels can’t find a vessel to volunteer, they will force them to say yes - the how is not important, only that the ‘yes’ is said, whether its meant or not, any verbal yes will do. the angels never sleep and they never eat, which is disturbing to sam and dean who are exhausted all the time and eat scraps whenever they can
castiel, like all other angels, is taught to despise and not care about sam winchester at all, but the more castiel gets to know sam, he becomes fascinated with him, how lucifer’s ultimate vessel, starter of the apocalypse and destroyer of god’s creation can be so kind and gentle, so full of faith, acceptance, optimism and hope. in dean castiel sees a good man, yes, but also a man who’s bloodthirsty, rages, revels in war, resorts all problems with violence, loves conditionally and expects unquestioned loyalty. sam too, has a darkness and bloodthirst in him, but it only comes out in glimpses. castiel thinks it’s funny, how sam turns out to be the opposite of lucifer while dean is so alike michael

Ok so I'm just gonna ramble before I pass out for the night—this stuff will more than likely change over time bc I am indecisive and might run out of steam in a few days BUT-
I know the whole Snatcher and MJ vs Venassa thing has been done to death (I did it myself before), but this is another Snatcher and MJ vs Vanessa thing
So like, Hat Kid and Bow Kid. Instead of returning to their homeworld, they give Mustache Girl that timepiece that you have the option to give her (if I am entirely wrong about that PLEASE correct me, I really need to play the game over again bc it's been a WHILE), BUT, because they only have 39 timepieces instead of all 40, it causes whatever time travel tech they have in there to malfunction and it spits them out into an alternate universe (so original amirite) and IN this universe,, they end up exactly where they were except the world is frozen because of, surprise surprise, Vanessa
So Vanessa right, she's lost all her marbles, she's wack, she's outright bonkers, what's her deal huh? Well, the Prince froze to death and his soul and body split into Snatcher and Moonjumper respectively. So, naturally, she tries to imprison BOTH of them, BUT, Moonjumper proves to be stronger and fends her off long enough for Snatcher to escape, but Vanessa manages to take MJ. This DOES sound similar to what I was writing before but like, swapped,, I know but listen listen listen-
So Snatcher has to book it outta there despite literally JUST being split apart, bc he's just not powerful enough to fight back yet. I like to think that Snatcher has to consume souls or like,, absorb their energy in order to function at peek ghosty performance,, so, having just split, he's weak and confused, and he heckin BOLTS after MJ yells at him to run
So years later, HK and BK arrive from another timeline to popsicle world and discover their friends are in some serious trouble and, ofc, decide to help (and irritate) Snatcher as much as possible. Since I'm following the game's canon, neither would know about MJ yet. Seeing Snatcher with Legs™ and with no idea who they are would certainly be shocking for them (as well as the fire situation in general)
Meanwhile, Vanessa has made MJ into her vicious hunter. His sole purpose is to hunt Snatcher down and bring him back to Vanessa so she can figure out a way to fuse them back together into the prince using crazy ice witch magic or whatever. MJ is constantly at war with his free will and the spell Vanessa has put over him. He's a fearsome opponent who Hat Kid has to battle at least three times (it's ok tho bc Bow Kid wins him over using her dangerously charming friendship skills). Im going with the whole Snatcher and Hat Kid / Moonjumper and Bow Kid thing yes I AM
OH ALSO before I forget, Snatcher and MJ only temporarily have legs until they reach their full potential, then they have their canon designs more or less, plus a few extra design tweaks I've made ;3
As for the rest of the characters, HK and BK have to befriend them all over again
This is so disorganized I'm so sorry

Incident #3421
My first ever fic request! I hope you like it @elementalist-kdj
They requested something about Eda and Lilly during their school days and Incident #3421 was a fun source of inspiration.
AO3 Link
Warnings: References to bullying.
Word Count: 2657
Lunch was without a doubt was the best part of the day. No learning, no annoying teachers, no busy work. Just food and friends. It was also the only time Eda got a chance to see her little sister during the day. The young witch came running into the cafeteria and headed for their normal spot. Lilith was already there and had her head buried in her arms with no food in sight.
“Whoa what’s wrong Lilly?”
Her sister looked up and tried to hide the fact that she had been crying but it was no use. Her eyes were puffy and she sniffled as she talked.
“Hey Eda.”
“Okay who do I got to hex?”
“No one Eda just forget about it okay?”
“No! Was it that jerk whose been bugging you?” Eda scanned the cafeteria and there they were. The culprit had been bullying her little sister for a week now and it was time for Eda to put a stop to it. She started to march over to the soon to be victim when her sister grabbed her hand.
“It’s just lunch money Eda! It’s not worth it!” Lilly cried.
“No, it’s your lunch money and I’m not letting them get away with this!”
“Eda. Please, please, please don’t cause a scene. I don’t want you to get into trouble.”
“But...” Eda looked at her sister’s face filling with tears again.
“Alright fine. I won't cause a scene. Here get something to eat.” Eda gave Lilly her lunch money and started to walk away.
“Where are you going?” Lilly sniffled.
“To cool off a minute. Is that okay?”
Lilly smiled, “Sure. I’ll try and get the cafeteria lady to give me an extra slice of pie. She likes me!”
Lilly ran off and Eda went back into the hallway. Everyone liked Lilly but that wasn’t hard. She was smart and kind. Well everyone liked her except this bully apparently. Her sister didn’t want her to mess with this person well then she wouldn’t.
No one saw Eda slip into the abomination room. In truth she kind of missed this place. Making abominations was fun. Mixing potions was alright and she was good at his but abominations were just messier. She took some left-over supplies and started to mix. This jerk was going to get what was coming to them. 10 minutes later Eda slipped back into the cafeteria with a smile. She sat and helped Lilly dig into lunch. A moment later her sister looked up from her food a stared at the door to the lunch room.
“What the...where did those abominations come from?”
“What abominations?” Eda said focusing on the pie.
“Those... whoa!”
Lilly ducked as a piece of fruit flew by their table. It hit it’s mark, the face of the bully. The abominations then began to throw more food at them.
“FOOD FIGHT!” Some other kid screeched.
Eda laughed and ducked under the table next to her sister. Lily was staring daggers at Eda.
“What?”
“Why can’t you just leave things alone?” Lilly sighed.
“I didn’t do anything and you’re my baby sister it’s my job to look after you.”
“Edalyn.”
“Hey they get a few piles of food dumped on them and we get an interesting lunch time.”
Lilly poked her head above the table and ducked quickly as a loaf of bread bounced off her head.
“Call them off now! Please! You’re going to get in so much trouble.” It was odd to Eda how much her little sister worried about Eda getting in trouble. She didn’t understand it really but the pained look on her sister’s face made her stomach twist in a guilty knot.
“Alright, alright.” Eda hopped on the top of the table and surveyed the scene. The cafeteria was already a mess. Some kids were still having fun while most had fled. The bully was covered in food head to toe. Good enough for Eda.
“Abominations, STOP!” The young witch yelled with authority.
The three abominations she had made paused for a moment and looked at each other. Two of them kept going with their assault on the other students and the third started lumbering towards Eda.
“Hey I commanded you to STOP!”
The abomination responded by tossing a cup of juice at Eda. She ducked under the table just in time to avoid it.
“Welp they have a mind of their own now.” Eda said nonchalantly.
“YOU MADE POWERFUL ENOUGH ABOMINATIONS THAT THEY HAVE SENTIENCE?” Lilly screeched.
“I guess.”
“Edalyn! ”
“Okay, Okay I got this.” Back onto the table she jumped with Lilly on her heels. The young witch drew a circle on the nearest wall. A large owl shaped column formed and sent the abominations flying into one of the others. Her sister’s jaw dropped.
“Like it? I’ve been working on it. The owl makes the spell a little more personal.”
“What? Oh yeah that’s cool but look!” Lilly pointed at the two abominations that had crashed together. The purple muck that was their bodies started to fuse together. The third one lumbered over and joined the mass. Fully combined a large abomination, larger than anyone had seen, stood in the middle of the cafeteria. It let out a roar of defiance and tossed a chair towards the sisters.
“That’s not good.” Eda said in a bit of shock. Lilly pulled her out of the way just in the nick of time as the chair shattered against the wall behind them, putting a dent into the brick. The rest of the students had fled the scene so the only three people left where Eda, Lilly, and the bully. The three of them watched as the giant abomination pulled back its arm and bashed a hole into the wall, giving it an ample sized hole to escape deeper into the school with. The whole cafeteria shook with the impact. Dust and bits of wall flew everywhere.
As the sisters came out of their hiding place a piece of the roof came crumbling down spewing more dust in the air. One of the large ceiling lanterns was swinging low to the ground barely hanging on to the roof by a thread. Lilly began to dust herself off. Eda shook the dust from herself like a bird shaking off water off in a birdbath.
“Ugh this stuff cannot be good for our lungs,” Lilly coughed.
“Eh I don’t know you look good with white hair sis,” Eda smiled her widest ‘please don’t be mad at me’ grin.
“You are in so much trouble Eda.”
“EDA! Did you do this?” The bully came marching up to the sisters wiping the dust and food from their face. Eda placed herself between them and her sister.
“This is what you get for being a jerk,” she hissed.
“W-will you two stop? We have a more important problem,” Lilly said with a slight squeak.
“What are we supposed to do about it bird brain? Where are the teachers?”
“Do not call my sister names!”
“Focus!” Lilly yelled out louder. This got the other two to shut up surprise for the moment.
“The teachers go on break during lunch. They might be on the other side of the school. We need to stop that thing before it reaches them, there might not be any school left at that point.”
“Us? There is no way we can stop that thing,” the bully said.
“We can if we work together!” Lilly shouted enthusiastically.
Eda thought it was stupid to try and stop the thing. Honestly, she wouldn’t mind if the thing tore the school apart but if she didn’t go there was a chance Lilly would get hurt. She didn’t like Hexside but she wasn’t going to let anything happen to her sister.
“You two have fun on a suicide mission,” the bully spat as they walked away. Eda grabbed their arm.
“Hey you started this and you’re going to help us finish it. If not, I will ensure that Bump throws you in detention too. I promise.”
“You can’t...fine!” The bully jerked out of Eda’s grasp and started to walk towards the hole in the wall grumbling about Eda being evil.
Eda locked eyes with her sister, “You good?”
Lilly nodded, “Let’s go.”
Finding the creature wasn’t hard, it left a trail of destruction in its wake. Eda guessed it made sense in a way. She had lost control of it but she had made it while reflecting on how much she had grown to hate school. It was just acting on her inner feeling. Maybe. In her head that sounded right anyway. It had made its way to the lockers and was now putting deep dents into the metal doors.
“Plan?” Eda asked.
“I think if we hit it with enough fire, we can boil it back down to the ingredients,” Lilly responded.
“Messy. I like it.”
The bully took the long way around to get on one side of it and the sisters snuck up on the other side.
“NOW!” Lilly screeched. Eda drew the largest fire circle she could and blasted the thing with all her might. Lilly and the bully did the same. It took effort but at last the abomination let out a final shriek and melted away. All that was left in the hallway was a purple, gooey mess.
“That’s what you get for messing with the Clawthorne sisters!” Eda taunted.
“That’s what I get for having to deal with you as a student Edalyn,” a cold voice spoke from behind her. The bully laughed as Eda sheepishly turned around to see Bump standing behind her.
“Oh, hey Bump. What’s up?”
“My office. Now.”
...
The sun was already below the horizon, but Eda had only finished cleaning a section of the cafeteria. Sure, the construction coven had fixed the large hole in the wall and the bits of broken ceiling but Bump made sure they left enough for her to clean. No magic was allowed either which was archaic really. She couldn’t believe her parents agreed to her being magically bound to that promise.
A small panic had welled up in her as they did it. Was this what it was like to be bound to a coven? To have her magic trimmed down to nothing? She didn’t like the feeling even though all of her magic was still there. If anything, all this cleaning gave her time to think, really think about the things she had been pushing down for more than a year since being placed into the Potions path. She was deep in thought for a while, at least until her thoughts were interrupted by the sound of another broom being pushed against the mess.
“Lilly?”
“Hey sis.”
“Uh what are you doing?”
“Helping?”
“I can see that smarty pants you know what I meant.”
“You did all of this for me. When I pointed that out to our parents, they agreed to let me help you.”
“Why would you do that?”
Lilly put on a smug smile, “Because you’ll be here a year at the rate you’re going you turtle.”
“Ha ha ha. I can go faster I’m just...” Eda paused and stared at the floor. Should she tell her how she was feeling?
“You’re what?”
“I’ve been thinking...”
“If today is any evidence that’s a bad idea.”
“Lilly I’m being serious for once.”
Eda threw her broom to the ground and grabbed Lilly’s hand. She guided her little sister to a seat.
“While I was making that abomination, I thought about how much I missed that class. I mean I hate all the classes here but it was fun at the same time.”
“Oh Eda, that’s okay. I know Bump doesn’t like you but if you want to switch, I’m sure he won't say no...”
“But I want to do potions too! I don’t want to choose just one.”
Eda could see that what she was trying to say finally clicked with her sister. Her brows knitted together like they did when she was worried.
“I guess it’s good were going to get into the Emperor's coven then,” Lilly said carefully.
“Why should we have to hope for a rare chance to keep our magic though?” Eda stood and began to pace in frustration.
“If I don’t get in, I’m stuck for the rest of my life with only a small sliver of my magic. How is that fair? And I’m not just talking for me! Magic shouldn’t be controlled! It should be wild and free to use how we wish when we wish and...”
“Eda,” Lilly hissed, “keep it down. Do you know how much trouble you could get into for saying that? How long have you been having these thoughts? Have you told anyone else?”
“I’ve felt this way for a while. You’re the first person I’ve told.”
“Don’t tell anyone else!”
“I’m not stupid Lilly,” Eda said with a roll of her eyes.
“Eda, I get it. I understand a little bit I really do but this is...just the way it is.”
“It wasn’t always like this. I’ve read some history books.”
“Is that what you’ve been doing at the library? I thought you were focusing on school work for once. Silly me.”
“Hey I don’t need the sass. These are legitimate concerns. This “new age of controlled magic” stuff is stupid! And I’m half tempted to go find Bellows and tell him that!”
“You’ll get locked in the conformatorium for heresy.” Lilly said with a grave look.
“Let them try.”
Lilly stood and grabbed Eda’s hands with a tight squeeze, trying to get her to calm down.
“I know you never listen to me but please for once listen to me. I don’t want to see you dragged away somewhere. Please, please just don’t dwell on these ideas. Focus on joining the emperor's coven like I am. Then you don’t have to worry about any of that. I’m sure they’ll want you. You’re powerful! You just brought three abominations to life, some people can’t do any magic outside of their path before they’re bound to it. You and I will be an unstoppable team. If you’re not in jail that is.”
Eda looked down at her little sister’s pleading face. Just because some witches weren’t very good with multiple types of magic didn’t mean they shouldn’t be free to do those other types. Every bone in Eda’s body wanted to rage against the stupidity but she took a deep breath. She had already gone against her sister’s wishes once today, better to not upset her again. Eda put on a smile and sighed.
“You’re right. I’m just...I don’t know...”
“Being a rebellious teen? That’s what dad keeps saying.”
“Yeah that.”
“That’s okay. That’s why we’re a good team. You come up with crazy stuff and I help reign you in when you go too off the deep end.”
“Gee thanks.”
“Alright. If we work together, we’ll get this done in no time.” Lilly picked up her broom and began to list all the reasons the both of them would get into the emperor's coven with little problem and why is was the coolest coven. As her sister talked on and on, Eda would just nod and give small encouraging responses. Internally though, she felt the weight that had been growing on her soul grow heavier. If she couldn’t talk to her sister about this then she couldn’t talk to anyone.
Maybe it was for the best though. Keep her ideas to herself until she could find a loophole in the system to exploit or something. Maybe at the end of the day she just wouldn’t choose a coven and the system would have to deal with it. She could deal with a little jail time, probably escape from it too. Really, what was the worst they could do to her?

I Don't Believe In Magic
A continuation of my Clextober universe. I Don't Believe in Magic is set in the College time of Clexa. I'm always accepting more prompts!
---
Lexa drew circles in her notebook with her right hand while her left supported her lazy head. She sighed and flipped the page as the lecturer continued to drone on about mythology. She didn't even know why she took this class. It was a joke in one aspect - listening to humans blather on about mythical beings and how eerie and strange they appeared in comparison to their human counterparts - but another part of her longed to find some similarities between herself and the humans.
She easily found one - they were terrified of one another.
Lexa just didn't understand why.
Her father had scolded her time and time again for being careless with her magic, giving herself away to humans. "You can only rewind someone's memories so often before you run into trouble, Alexandria."
But, Lexa always had a soft spot for humans - always interested in the way they perceived the world and knew that deep down they were more alike than they knew. So, denounced her family tradition of attending the top wizarding school in the world, and accepted the soccer scholarship offered to her by Arkadia University.
***
Clarke Griffin was on a mission. Her last name carried the power of a world-saving doctor. Unfortunately, it also carried the expectations. But Clarke was always known to defy expectations.
That's why she wanted to go above and beyond her mother's medical degree, and double major in both medicine and art.
It was her greatest ambition.
It was also her stupidest idea.
Because, at eight in the morning, when Clarke could have been sleeping before her three hour Animal Kingdom lab, she was stuck in this stupid Mythology 101 class, learning about creatures that never existed and paintings that didn't capture anything of substance.
She wondered how high some of these painters were when they painted these things. Because scientifically speaking, there was no way a woman could take an inanimate object, like a broom, and create enough velocity and speed to have it fly.
Clarke was a woman of science. She had seen her father beat death twice, all due to the medical advancements of man. Sure, hundreds of years ago it would have been seen as witchcraft, but she was positive that the only magical beings were the things that weren't researched.
She sighed, rubbed her eyes as the sigh turned into a yawn, and flipped the page of her agenda, scheduling her free time into her already packed schedule.
***
"Excuse me, I understand that as a society, we've always been a bit spooked by the unknown, but it just seems like the entire concept of witches were solely based on repressing women. I mean, Medusa only turned the men that raped her into stone, but she's spoken of like a villain. Women who showed any sort of forward thinking in Salem were hunted down for witchcraft. I think that maybe we should be discussing the mental health of the accusers than the 'magical powers' of the accused."
Lexa's ears perked up at the husky voice in the midst of destroying the lecturers current argument. Not that she knew what it was, zoning out into a state of semi-consciousness as the monotonous voice of the lecturer carried on.
She looked across the room, noting the long blonde hair and dark blue leather jacket sitting in the front row. She felt her heart do a funny thing then - it beat with a staccato rhythm, every pound precise as she gazed at the girl.
The beating of her heart was so loud that the rest of the argument was lost to the sharp beat in her ears.
Before she could snap her fingers to bring herself closer, the lecturer had dismissed the class, and the blonde was the first one out of her seat.
Lexa grumbled, wishing that at this moment she could snap her fingers to catch up to the blonde. Instead, she had to hustle down the stairs from the back of the class, her shoulder bag flopping against her bare leg.
She caught her just as she had stepped out of the building. "Hey!" Lexa said.
The blonde didn't turn around. Lexa ran past her and came to a stop just in front, doubled over and gasping for breath. She held her hand up to the blonde to ask her to wait.
"I really don't have time for this," Clarke sighed.
"I just -," Lexa gasped. "I wanted to - whoo," she panted, "I wanted to tell you that I liked what you said back there."
Clarke quirked a brow.
"About witch hunting."
"Oh," Clarke laughed. She let her eyes trail up and down Lexa's lithe figure, noting the purple soccer shirt she wore and the short soccer shorts that left little to the imagination. "No one really believes in that stuff anyway. Witches? Goblins? It's just stuff parents tell their kids to behave."
"Maybe we could discuss that? Over coffee?" Lexa asked.
Clarke's grip tightened on her bookbag. "Thanks, but I don't believe in magic. It was nice meeting you…" she trailed off, waiting for the brunette to say her name.
"Lexa, and you will."
"Lexa," Clarke repeated. "It was nice meeting you. See you next week." And with that, the blonde was off.
"Is that the face of a girl who has been sorely rejected?" The dark figure asked as it stepped out of the shadows of the building.
"I'd ask you how much you heard, but I know you're a lurker," Lexa replied, not bothering to look over her shoulder and acknowledge her sister.
Anya laughed and slapped her sister on the back. "I'm not a lurker, I just happened to leave class at the same time. She's cute."
"She's human," Lexa said.
"And yet, that's never bothered you."
"Of course not," Lexa said with a cheeky smirk.
***
"Oh my God," Raven gasped.
Clarke looked up from her notes for a second to check that her friend was okay.
"Who is that hottie? How have I never seen her before?"
Clarke glanced over her shoulder, much to Raven's protest. "Don't look! Oh my God, you make it so obvious!"
The only person Clarke saw was the long brown hair of the soccer player in her class - Lexa.
"Lexa?" She asked her best friend. "The brunette?"
"Screw the brunette, I mean the blonde sitting with her!" Raven said. "She's hot."
"They're both hot," Clarke commented offhandedly. "They're probably together."
Almost as if being summoned, Lexa and her companion stood from their table and walked towards Clarke and Raven.
"Be natural, but they're headed this way," Raven said. She adjusted her posture to sit up taller, pushing her chest out.
"Totally natural," Clarke teased. She bowed her head just slightly, pretending to be deep into her work. For some ungodly reason, the idea that Lexa was walking towards her was unsettling.
"Hey Clarke," Lexa said, stopping by the table. She adjusted the strap of her satchel on her shoulder. She held a regal posture, swagger and confidence seeping from her core. "What's up?"
Clarke looked at her, stunned by the intensity of the green eyes - ethereal in their beauty. She hadn't seen a pair of eyes quite that colour - as though it was constantly shifting when she finally found the name to match the shade. They were light at first, but the longer Clarke stared, the darker they appeared.
"Oh, hey, um…" She was so taken aback by the girl's eyes that she fumbled over her name.
"Lexa," Lexa answered for her. The quirk of her lips disappeared at the rejection. Her eyes shifted to a sharp green before they dropped to her shoes. Her cheeks turned red in embarrassment. "I um," she shook her head. "Nevermind."
Anya cleared her throat.
Embarrassed that the girl she hadn't stopped thinking about could barely remember her, Lexa swung her bag wildly to knock the pile of books in front of Raven to the floor and hustled off, her cheeks hot with embarrassment.
"Hey!" Raven yelled after her.
Lexa got all the way to the parking lot before the sound of the raspy voice she was enamored with got her to slow down.
"Hey!" Clarke yelled. "Lexa!"
Lexa stopped walking, pulling in a deep breath into her chest. Lexa Woods was better than some silly embarrassment. She turned, cocky smile on her lips and ready to greet Clarke again, but anything she had been planning disappeared with a sharp pang in her cheek and a hollow thud only she could hear.
She fell back onto her butt, her outstretched arms the only thing stopping her from hitting her head.
"You know, you're such a dick. Bullying someone with a disability isn't going to make me want to be your friend! You may be the school sweetheart because you can kick a ball, but Raven is so much more than you'll ever be."
Lexa gaped at the blonde, confused by her words and impressed by the ache in her jaw.
"Just leave me alone, and don't you ever put your hands on Raven or her things ever again!" She turned and stormed away before Lexa could even get a word in.
***
"You're a genius!" Anya sighed, throwing her bag onto the counter of her shared apartment with Lexa.
"Yay," Lexa said sarcastically.
Anya pouted down at her sister and flopped down onto the couch beside her. She flicked her wrist and an ice bag hit Lexa in the face.
"Ouch," Lexa whined. She adjusted it to press against the blossoming bruise she had received from Clarke.
"Raven's human, but the science she used to fuse her spine and create that brace to allow her to walk is practically magic. She's so open minded. Not to mention, beautiful. She and I are going out tomorrow."
Lexa sighed and smiled at her sister. "I'm happy for you."
"I'm sorry Blondie KO'd you. I cleared it all up and told her that you were just incredibly clumsy."
Lexa shrugged.
***
"Hey," Lexa said to the blonde as she entered her Mythology class. She wanted to clear the air and apologize to Raven. "Listen, about yesterday - I didn't -"
"I know," Clarke sighed. "Raven already yelled at me. I'm a little overprotective. Sorry about the left hook."
Lexa smiled down at the girl, and shifted her satchel. "I think it's hot," she said. Her eyes widened, and she looked away, her cheeks dusting pink at her slip.
"Well " Clarke said, pulling at the edge of her textbook, "I'm really sorry. I thought you did it on purpose."
"I did," Lexa answered, nodding at the blonde, "but not for the reasons you think."
Clarke quirked a brow.
"My sister wanted to meet Raven. I had promised to introduce her, but you couldn't remember my name and I was embarrassed. But, I never break a promise, so," Lexa shrugged one shoulder.
Clarke looked down at her text. "Yeah," she breathed.
The lecturer walked in at that moment, and Lexa sent one last look at the girl before heading up the auditorium steps to her seat.
She spent the entire class picturing blonde hair and blue eyes.
***
"Hey, Lexa?" Clarke called out to her as they exited the building. It was pouring rain, most students huddling under the awning as they prepared to race to their next class.
Lexa turned and smiled at the blonde. Clarke was struck again by her beauty. "What a miserable day," she said. "It'd be a good day for a warm drink."
Lexa might have had a witty response if she weren't so preoccupied of the way the little clouds of condensation curled out of Clarke's lips when she spoke.
Clarke chuckled. "About that coffee," she said, hands tightening on her textbooks. " I have eighteen minutes until I have to get to my next class. Would you like to join me?"
Lexa smiled and Clarke blinked rapidly, swearing she saw the green of her eyes shift to a lighter shade.
"Do you feel that?" She asked Clarke.
"Feel what?" Clarke asked, unable to pull her gaze from the brunette even as the girl stepped out into the rain. She was thoroughly soaked when she turned back to Clarke.
Her smile was blinding in it's intensity. "The magic in the air."
"I don't believe in magic," Clarke called, cheeky smile on her lips.
Lexa ran back up the steps next to her and produced an umbrella seemingly out of nowhere with her clothes remarkably dry.
"You will."

“Look out!”
Grabbed by Jimin’s vines he pulled you out of the oncoming boulder-sized chunk of road, Jimin dropped you almost instantly apologizing. “I am sorry,” he saw the reaction caused by the venom from his vines but it eased and your skin returned to normal.
“It’s okay I am fine, Jungkook isn’t though one of them has him hypnotized,” you moved again working on the fight, “you didn’t know what to do the only spells strong enough to stop your monster brother were spells that could kill him.”
While your side was more physical magic the other had more mental so it was hard to fight on another. Lunging forward you began fighting close range with your brother. “Thackery, come on, it’s me your sister. Do you remember?”
“I’m not your brother anymore” this voice layered a deep rumble with a shrill tone laced together. The demon looked at you with glowing red eyes and swung his huge arm into your stomach with a heavy thud sending you into a small building another boulder headed your way.
The muscular man had taken the opportunity while you had been knocked down to trap you, crushing you with bits of the road and buildings. Jungkook disintegrated and Hoseok let out a loud cry. You fought against the rocks that were rapidly closing in pinning you to the ground and crushing you.
“Wonho!” A voice shouted at the muscular man as Jimin attached himself to the man, wrapping them both in vines, the venom didn’t affect his opponent as much as Jimin hoped. The man who you believed was Wonho began grabbing at the vines.
“Y/n, do something?” Jimin shouted
“You have to let go!” you shouted, starting a particular spell you knew from the books your brother found you, you didn’t practice them as they weren’t nice spells.
“It’s alright, just do it, I will move in time,” he gave you a reassuring smile and you nodded finishing casting the spell pointing the sceptre directly. The spell shot through the sceptre and hit both of them, the two falling to the ground and the vines shriveling up and the two screaming in agony as the curse ate away at their bodies.
You screamed in despair pushing off the boulder with magic and racing over lunging to save Jimin, he was choking on his own breath you were about to start the anti curse when you were hit by a giant burning limb.
“Do you remember when you released me, that day when you cursed your brother. I didn't get to take his body fully but I clutched onto his soul hidden deep within his body.” The burning demon called to you mockingly, “I have waited seven years to take over this body and finally I have the chance!”
You didn’t want to hurt anyone anymore, You laid there in the rubble dropping your sceptre. “Please Thack, I need you to fight this thing. This isn’t you?” Your plea was nothing short of pathetic. A monstrous foot pressed down on your chest and you felt a few ribs crack under pressure.
“Your brother is Dead.” The thing laughed maniacally, that statement hit you in the chest, the cold smoke pouring from your body. Your hand reaches for the sceptre, fingers brushing the handle but unable to secure it. Dizzy from the lack of oxygen your vision grew dark. There was a howl in the distance and the ground began to shake.
You couldn’t move to see what was coming but the demon crushing your chest was tackled by something big, the growls coming from this new creature were loud. “Y/n are you okay?” Taehyung’s voice was soft inside your head and you looked at him shocked.
“Taehyung?” You asked quietly and he nudged you with his paw.
“I woke up like this and I can’t change back.” His voice continued to pour into your thoughts. It was as if you were imagining what he was saying but different.
Hoseok frowned “Taehyung traded his human body to live, it’s gone your human presence, I can’t feel it anymore.”
“It’s fine, we can deal with that later. I mean, I practically lived as a dog anyway, we have to finish this fight.” Taehyung gave a very large sigh “Where is Jimin and Jungkook?”
“They are dead” Namjoon spat blood onto the pavement. Taehyung let out a howl and started attacking the demon.
Breathing had become difficult; the broken ribs were digging into your lungs painfully. Bending down and grabbing your sceptre there were no wavering thoughts in your mind. You were accepting your fate, dark magic was what you had and you were going to use it. Lifting the sceptre, it grew larger than a cello and dwarfed you completely and yet you could move it as if it were a child's foam sword.
You opened your brother's anti curse book and began flipping through the pages nothing was written about demons. Everyone was suffering and you couldn’t take it any longer. Stepping forward you raised your sceptre in one hand, the other cradling your injured side. There was no spell for this you were going to make one, magic could be manipulated if you were strong enough and right now you didn’t care what it cost this was going to happen.
You raised the sceptre and the demon was lifted into the air. You didn’t have any fancy words so you just started talking hoping it would be enough. “I will trade my life if you banish this demon and spare my brother” You don’t know what happened but you must have done something right as there was a bright light.
When you woke up you were in the underworld again, in your hand was your axe like sceptre. The bodies of both covens lay scattered on the floor; all those except Jungkook, Jimin and Wonho. Carefully you dragged the axe across the floor, dodging the unconscious.
Never breaking stride you headed towards the stone table, the corpses sitting around it turned to you. You stepped up onto the table grasping the handle of the other sceptre and ripping it from the stone embedding your sceptre in the middle. The corpses seemed to wake up properly coming to consciousness.
“Ah, it seems we have a new student” The corpse to the right of the empty chair grinned, the bones in his jaw cracking as they were rigid.
“You definitely look like our family” a woman smiled
A low whistle could be heard “That is the biggest sceptre we have seen” You looked at it and them, “Well don’t stand around all day take your seat, you are the next heir to the underworld and judging by the size of your power a rightful heir at that.”
Taehyung woke shaking his head and standing, if he was any taller his head would touch the ceiling. Which was crazy to think as standing on the street not long ago he was as tall as a third-story apartment.
One particularly old corpse who was more skeletal than the others pointed a decrepit metatarsal in the general direction of Taehyung. His mouth fell open so wide his jaw fell off and clattered onto the floor.“Do my eyes deceive me or is that the legendary canine depicted in the legends?”
“You don’t have any eyes, you idiot, none of us do, we are dead and it only has one head the picture shows the dog of Hades having three” Taehyung shook his head playfully and with his powers of shape-shifting had two more heads grow on either side of his. “I stand corrected, darling relation of mine, could you please restore us, we would rather not creak and clatter about.”
“Why should I restore you?” you queried an eyebrow raised. “I don’t even know how?”
“What kind of mentors would we be if we couldn’t teach you to the best of our abilities,” she smiled. “All you have to do is read the restoration spell in that book over there.”
On a lectern was a book and you stepped over, turning the pages slowly and carefully until you found the spell reading the page they each started to return to the living flesh restoring and they looked young again. Even yours and those injured on the ground began to heal. One of the ladies placed the old man’s jaw back on and it fused into place a long beard growing from his chin.
“Grandfather?” you asked and he turned “Ah, my granddaughter it has been so long, part of me knew you would be the next in line for the throne of the underworld. Take your friends back and say goodbye. You can visit them every now and then but this is a full-time job.”
Turning around you saw them all getting up off the ground. Your brother didn’t want to go begging you to stay but you knew you couldn’t, being in the underworld just felt right.
For the second time in your life, you had found where you belonged. The first had been the Bangtan coven even if most of them didn’t fully trust or support your profession. After Jungkook was returned they were all dealing with the loss of Wonho and Jimin. You went to leave when you heard a voice.
“I can’t stay here,” Taehyung’s deep voice echoed in your head and you hummed. “This is my natural form now and it would be tiring having to shrink myself down every day plus some part of me feels tied to you, indebted in a way.”

S4 AU WHERE KC NEEDS TO BE STUCK IN A SAFE HOUSE TOGETHER BECAUSE OF REASONS PLEAAASE!!!
Thank you to @honestgrins for cheerleading. I will be forever grateful. I hope you like it Luiza!!! Smutty. D/s. Etc. Originally for canon-ish day of au week but I had midterms so I’m sorry this is late. There’s an incest mention in this. Nothing super substantive or related to the actual story, but here are the bookends if you want to scroll past.
Begins at: “Everything?” she asked, eyebrows raised. “I’m sure there’s some stuff you haven’t done.”
Ends at: “Forget I asked,” Caroline interrupted, squeezing her eyes shut. “Ugh. Okay, um…Never have I ever done BDSM stuff.”
————
“This is the safehouse?” Caroline demanded, dropping her suitcase on the faded persian rug in the living room of the cabin.
Yes, the cabin.
Like, as in in a forest.
It was even made of wood, probably.
“Yes, love,” Klaus said, locking the door behind them with a click. She immediately felt the prickle of magic against her skin as the barrier took hold. “Protected with the best magic murder can buy.”
Caroline wrinkled her nose as she took in the room around her. Everything seemed old, but largely in good condition. She had a feeling that Klaus hadn’t had a hand in designing it, since it didn’t even slightly resemble an old-timey cigar lounge. He sunk down on the couch, crossing his legs and setting his boots on the antique-looking coffee table, his eyes fixed on her intently as she took in her surroundings.
“So is the TV in another room, or something?” she asked, walking to peek through one of the two non-outside exits from the room into what looked like a small kitchen. She desperately hoped there was more to the space than she was seeing. The cabin had looked tiny from the outside, but maybe it was magic’d to be bigger on the inside like in Harry Potter, or something.
“No television, unfortunately.”
“What?”
“Can’t risk blowing the fuse, love. We need it to keep the icebox going. Blood spoils.”
“Is there at least somewhere to charge my phone?”
“Phones need to remain off, sweetheart. How difficult do you think it would be to compel your way into one of your privacy-violating apps and find your exact location?”
“Seriously?”
“Indeed.”
“But that means there’s nothing to do,” Caroline complained, sitting on the couch and glaring at the bookshelf, the only entertainment source she could identify as of now, in front of her. “How am I supposed to live like this?”
“I did for over 900 years,” Klaus pointed out, his patience clearly beginning to run out. “At least you’re alive, sweetheart.”
“Honestly, I think I might rather take my chances with Bonnie having to resurrect me than have to go glamping with you.”
“I’m wounded.”
“Is there at least running water?”
“That there is, courtesy of magic,” he reassured her. “We’ll have to share it of course, but I’m sure we’ll manage.”
She grimaced, already knowing that her only-child-ness and the temptation to avoid Klaus was likely not conducive to short showers.
“Okay, where’s my bedroom? Please tell me I at least get my own bed.”
“Of course. Unless you change your mind,” he teased, his cheeks dimpling at the withering glare she shot him.
“I’m good. Thanks.”
“Just through there, then,” he said, pointing to the other door.
She left without another word, the small hallway leading to two tiny cramped rooms separated by a bathroom that she could barely move her elbows in, both taken up almost entirely by double beds and an end table. She chose the one with the less ugly duvet and dropped her luggage on top of it.
Ugh. Hopefully Klaus’s witchy friend would come through soon. She had a prom to plan.
————
“How long are we going to be here?”
“Until I take care of the problem.”
“So I’m just stuck locked in a shed in the woods and can’t like, go anywhere or do anything? Or buy entertainment? Or use the internet?”
He chose to ignore her assessment of their accommodations. “Well, the icebox is rather small, so I’ll need to leave to get blood bags every now and again. If you’d like something from town, you need only ask.”
“I can’t come?”
“It wouldn’t be safe, love.”
“Are you saying I wouldn’t be safe with you?” Caroline asked, her barb clearly hitting the mark when his face darkened.
“If I thought all I needed to do to ensure your safety was to keep you by my side, we wouldn’t be here.“
"I thought you were the most powerful being on earth,” she pointed out, not bothering to keep her tone kind.
He didn’t meet her eyes, and she saw the barest movement in his body as he tensed, the twitch of his jaw putting her on edge. “I’m beginning to think that might not be the case.”
It was an admission that she hadn’t expected. Klaus had always seemed to have an endless well of egotism to draw from, had never seemed at all insecure in his power, but everything from the tone of his voice to the way that his eyes kept darting towards the door told her that Klaus was more scared than she’d realized. That put her even further on edge.
“What do you mean?”
“It’s not important, love.”
“Um, since you basically kidnapped me and locked me in a shed I’d say that I have a right to know.”
From the look he shot her she had a very good feeling that he was resisting the urge to say that it didn’t matter whether she thought she had the right to know anything, but he wisely refrained from making that particular point. “I’ll tell you when I have more information,” he said finally, a concession that she was pretty sure he hadn’t initially intended to make.
“You can’t just give me the information you have?”
“Silas is a warlock. A very old one,” Klaus said slowly. “Old enough that I was convinced he was a legend.”
“You mean there’s something you didn’t know?” she asked in mock incredulity. “I thought you were friends with all the historians.”
“I thought you said that I didn’t have friends,” he shot back, his eyebrow raised.
“Well, you haven’t been able to prove you have one.”
He didn’t have an answer to that, likely because he knew that mansplaining logical fallacies to her would just get him made fun of, and he retreated back to the subject at hand. “He’s immortal. Truly immortal. After some research I’ve concluded that my mother used a version of the immortality spell he used to create the vampirism ritual.”
“So he’s a vampire?”
“Not exactly,” Klaus said slowly. “Quite honestly I’m not sure to what extent his powers resemble vampirism or vice versa, but I do know that there are elements that are almost certainly shared. Feeding off blood, for example. Likely some sort of power to induce hallucination, similar to the way that we can enter dreams or the thoughts of those who aren’t expecting it.”
“You didn’t even bother to learn about the legend? Aren’t all legends based on truth?”
His lips twitched. “In the interest of honesty, love, I must admit that because I’d never heard of it until I was a few centuries old, I originally assumed that the legend of Silas was based off of me.”
“That’s so arrogant it’s almost funny.”
“It was to my detriment, obviously,” he admitted. “In any case, I’m unsure as to the full extent of his abilities, and that means that he’s dangerous. Too dangerous to risk exposure to him.”
“Exposing me? I didn’t do anything. What’s he going to do, kidnap me to ask me where the cure I hadn’t heard of until two days ago is?”
“No, not you. Me.”
“Then what do I have to do with anything?” she asked impatiently, doing her best to smush down the part of her that was shouting that it knew the answer.
“You know very well what you have to do with this, Caroline,” Klaus said, his tone deceptively light. “If you were put in danger it could easily draw me out.”
She let the confession hang uncomfortably in the air, not quite knowing what to say, how to acknowledge the truth that she hadn’t wanted to accept that he’d set out so plainly.
“Whatever,” she said finally. “But we need to figure it out fast. I can’t let Patrice takeover prom committee. She thinks that green and brown would be a good color scheme. She calls it ‘forest chic’ but it is not.”
Klaus made a face at that, which was honestly just the kind of vindication she needed. He had like eighty bajillion years of party planning experience, right? He knew a terrible aesthetic choice when he heard one.
“I’ll do my best, love. Anything else or am I free to go?”
“No further questions,” she said dryly.
————
“I’m pretty sure I’ve read every book by now.” Caroline complained.
They’d been in the cabin for about a month, and Klaus had both somehow grown on her and was also deeply irritating, mostly because he was growing on her. He wasn’t exactly open with her, but he wasn’t as irritating as usual. Their cohabitation was actually going peacefully, other than his apparent short supply of shirts, something she had only brought up once and promptly swore to herself to never do it again after Klaus had somehow gotten her to admit it was distracting. She had been waiting for the other shoe to drop, for him to infuriate her so much that she wanted to stalk off and risk being kidnapped by witches, but he’d been on his best behavior.
Unfortunately for her, it turned out that Klaus’s best behavior was pretty freaking attractive.
Even more unfortunately, her new-found (fine, newly acknowledged; she could be real with herself inside her own head) attraction for him wasn’t distracting enough to mitigate the fact that she was bored out of her mind.
“I’ll pick up more in town tomorrow,” Klaus promised.
“How will you know what I like, though?”
“Make a list, I suppose.”
“How am I supposed to make a list of things I don’t know exist? Bookstores are for browsing, Klaus.”
“I’ll do my best to make selections to your preferences.”
“Do you even know what I like?” she asked, pausing for dramatic effect before continuing. “Oh wait, I guess you must since you’re a legit stalker who kidnapped me from my home to take me to a remote cabin and wait to be murdered.”
“You make me sound so diabolical.”
“Ugh. You’re impossible.”
“What do you want, Caroline?” he asked, sounding more tired than she’d heard him in awhile. “Believe me when I say that I do want to make this as painless as possible for you. There is no benefit to me to make you hate me more when you know quite well I’d like the opposite.”
“I don’t hate you,” Caroline said, smiling slightly at the look of surprise on Klaus’s face. “What? Didn’t you know that?”
“I didn’t expect you to admit it,” he said, giving her a dimpled grin that screamed smirky jerk.
It annoyed her enough to make her clarify. “Look, it doesn’t mean much. I’m not exactly a fan of your strategies for keeping me safe, or how you’ve treated my friends, or like…your personality in general.”
“I thought I’d grown on you.”
“I mean, slowly. You’re not exactly easy to get to know.”
He seemed to consider her point for a moment before nodding. “I’ll see what I can find for you, all right?”
————
Klaus had underestimated the amount of books she could read in one day, but he’d luckily also brought home ten bottles of hard liquor, pointing out to her when she saw her face that he’d need to drink at least two full bottles within an hour to actually get past tipsy, and if she wanted to get to know him, what better way than a casual drink?
This quickly turned into her introducing him to the most classic get-to-know-you drinking game she knew.
“Never have I ever eaten a baby,” Caroline joked, slurring slightly.
Klaus snorted, making no move to take the shot. “To my knowledge, only Kol has ever gotten close.”
“Gross. Your turn.”
Klaus sighed. He’d clearly been having difficulty coming up with things he’d never done that it was possible she had. She was already drunk off his never having Instagram and his complete lack of pop culture knowledge (‘never have I ever been able to name all of the Kordashan siblings’ ‘they’re called Kardashians’). They’d agreed to ban any historical figures (‘never have I ever had a one-night stand with a princess’) and school-related questions (‘never have I ever failed a math test’), but anything else was fair game.
“Never have I ever…” he began slowly, swirling the shot glass in his hand. “…had sex with a werewolf.“
"Sex life is off the table,” Caroline declared, pausing after she processed what he’d said. “What, you haven’t?”
“Werewolves and vampires aren’t exactly friendly, and there aren’t all that many wolves in the first place. I kept track of the packs, of course, but I wasn’t about to risk getting bitten before I broke the hybrid curse. It wouldn’t kill me, of course, but I would have had to live with it until it healed. Even as an Original it’s not exactly a speedy process. Kol managed to get himself bitten once and took over six months.”
“That makes sense.”
“Drink though, love.”
“We just said sex life was off the table!” Caroline argued, and Klaus raised an eyebrow.
“We didn’t say anything. You declared it, and you declared it after I’d already used my turn. Drink.”
“Ugh fine,” she said before knocking a shot back.
“If I may offer some strategic advice however, love–”
“Ugh of course you want to offer strategic advice.”
“It may be best for you to keep the category open.”
Caroline wrinkled her nose. “Are you saying I want to hear about your sexcapades?”
“I’m saying that it’s likely I’ve done almost anything you can think of, and that it’s likely that you haven’t.”
“Are you calling me a prude?” Caroline asked, not sure why she was bristling but still feeling a bit slighted.
“Not at all. You’re simply young,” Klaus said mildly. “You haven’t had the time I had, not that the quarterback or the Lockwood boy seemed all that creative.”
Caroline almost wanted to debate that point–she and Tyler had done one or two things that involved very extensive internet research using an incognito window and ordering sex stuff on amazon using a dummy account to the Lockwood mansion while his mom was in New York to see the new revival of Mamma Mia–but those memories were hers and she didn’t want Klaus to poison them.
Or like, tempt her to do them again, but with him.
And probably better.
“Your advice is duly noted,” she said, trying to keep from slurring her words. “I’ll take it into consideration.”
“All too happy to assist, love.”
“Yeah, I bet you are,” she muttered, reaching for the tequila bottle to fill her shot glass again. “Never have I ever…been to France.”
“I’ll take you,” he teased, bringing her back to that moment at the ball when he’d tried to tempt her. “When this is all over. I’ll take you anywhere.”
“We’ve been over this. You’re not taking me on any vacations after this other than back to my house.”
“I’d be honored to take you back to your place, love.”
“Gross!” she whined, trying to cover up the way that the suggestion made her mind wander. “Stop!”
“As the lady wishes. Now, never have I ever played monopoly.”
Caroline knocked the shot back. “Not only have I played monopoly, but I specialize in winning monopoly.”
“Of course you do,” he drawled.
“What’s that supposed to mean?”
“You’re a keen strategist, love.”
“And my dad and I had a rule that if I could steal from the bank without him noticing then I got to keep the money.”
“That’s just good business, sweetheart.”
“I was also ten and got tantrumy when I didn’t win, but sure.”
“Somehow I’m not at all surprised by that.”
She glared at him. “Never have I ever…” she trailed off, out of ideas. Klaus raised a challenging eyebrow. She swallowed, bracing herself for what would probably give her too many uncomfortably enticing thoughts later that night. “Never have I ever eaten someone out.”
Klaus’s lips curled and he easily threw back the shot, placing the glass down. “Always time to try.”
“I’m surprised you’re advocating having sex with someone else since you’re such a jealous weirdo even when we’re not dating.”
“There’s magic for everything.”
She wasn’t sure if he was joking. She kind of didn’t want him to be. Was that weird?
“Your turn,” she said quickly.
“Never have I ever eaten a frozen meal.”
“I have never been less surprised by anything. Those aren’t super classy. Stouffer’s mac n cheese is great when you’re hungover though. Um…Never have I ever used restraints during sex.”
He drank. She wished she’d been more specific. Did he tie someone up or let someone else do the tying? Why was her brain imagining both of those scenarios? Why did she like the idea of Klaus tying her up?
“Never have I ever had a hangover,” he offered, and Caroline groaned, taking another shot.
“They’re the worst. Umm…Never have I ever had a threesome.”
He drank.
“Never have I ever ridden a roller coaster.”
“Not even once?” Caroline asked after she’d downed the shot.
“No. I have more enjoyable things I could be doing.”
“Like the laundry list of sexcapades you’re trying to get me to guess?”
“That’s one category, yes. I’ve done almost everything, love. It’s a good strategy.”
“Everything?” she asked, eyebrows raised. “I’m sure there’s some stuff you haven’t done.”
“Almost everything you could imagine.”
“Yeah, okay. Never have I ever had sex with my sibling,” Caroline teased, her jaw dropping when Klaus took the shot without missing a beat. “Seriously?”
“We got bored.”
“Who got bored? Which one did you have sex with?”
“You used your turn, love. Never have I ever texted while driving.”
Caroline had downed the shot before he finished speaking, anxious to have her questions answered. “Never have I ever fucked my sister.”
Klaus rolled his eyes, taking the shot.
“Ew!"
"Rather closed-minded of you, love.”
“She’s your sister. She’s also Rebekah, and therefore the least pleasant person in existence. Both things that should put her off limits.”
“I’ve fucked many unpleasant people. My sister doesn’t rank even close to the top of my list. We’re also a thousand years old with vampiric sex drives,” he said calmly, apparently not at all embarrassed. She wished she could give that few fucks about what taboos people caught her out committing. And also that she could stop imagining it. Imagining her also in that situation. With both of them.
He was right, Rebekah was not obnoxious enough to not be hot, unfortunately.
“Never have I ever had a job.”
“Seriously? Never? Not even in viking times or whatever?”
“I had, I suppose you’d call them chores, but I didn’t have a job in the sense that they exist now.”
“What did you call them?”
“Sendifer”
“Bless you? Was that a sneeze?”
His lips twitched. “My native language.”
“Native language?”
“You can’t possibly have thought we spoke English?” he asked, raising his eyebrows.
“I guess I never thought about it. How many languages do you speak?”
“Counting languages not in use today?” he asked, clearly already doing a mental calculation.
“Sure.”
“I can manage fairly well in at least fifty or so. I’m likely only fluent in ten or eleven, including my native tongue.”
“That’s a lot.”
He smiled slightly. “We had to learn to adapt.”
“Did you and Rebekah dirty talk each other with your native tongue?” Caroline drawled, the lack of filter from alcohol making her bolder.
Klaus chuckled. “If I said I did other things with–”
“Forget I asked,” Caroline interrupted, squeezing her eyes shut. “Ugh. Okay, um…Never have I ever done BDSM stuff.”
“That’s quite a broad category, love.”
“So that means you’ll drink, right?”
“Not interested as to what aspects?”
Caroline swallowed, her curiosity dueling with her complete certainty that if he told her anything, her traitor brain wouldn’t be able to forget, or to stop itself from imagining what it could be like for him to do those things to her. It only took her a brief moment to make up her mind, the alcohol making her bold, and she shrugged. “Fine. Never have I ever spanked someone during sex.”
He held her gaze as he poured his drink, his irises flashing gold for just a moment before he sipped it much too slowly, his tongue darting over his lips when he’d finished it. Her breath caught at the intensity of it, how he seemed to be cataloguing every little hint of her reaction. She was certain, in that moment, that he was imagining what it would be like to do it to her. It excited her more than it should have, and she tried to rub her thighs together as subtly as possible to soothe the ache. “Your turn,” she breathed, a bit embarrassed by how completely obvious she was being.
She barely registered whatever Klaus said, something about Netflix, and she drank despite not knowing what she was admitting, too distracted by the fantasies already spinning themselves much too easily.
“Never have I ever made someone call me Master during sex.”
He drank.
She was practically bursting with questions now, and she knew he could tell, that he was enjoying that she wanted to know more of what he’d done. An irrational tug of jealousy made itself known in her gut, something about Klaus having done these things with other people unsettling her. It was unfair, since he had to have done it to be able to talk about it, but her fingers twitched with the urge to touch, to claim, to run her tongue along his skin and hear the low rumble in his throat that she’d spent an embarrassing amount of time imagining he’d make if she ever gave in to what they both wanted.
“Ugh, I should stop drinking,” Caroline said, pushing the bottle away with the five others they’d gone through. “This is getting way too into TMI territory.”
“You do know that I’d answer these even if I weren’t drinking, don’t you love?”
“I don’t know if I could ask them sober,” she admitted before she could stop herself.
He chuckled, making her bristle. “Don’t make fun of me.”
“I’m not, love. But out of curiosity, why wouldn’t you?”
“Because then I wouldn’t be able to stop thinking about it. You. What you…what we…” she trailed off, shaking her head determinedly to make herself stop talking. “This is why I shouldn’t drink with you. I’ve already said more than I wanted to.”
“Would it be so bad?” he asked. “To give in? To let yourself have a moment of freedom?”
“What, like a what happens in the cabin stays in the cabin type deal?” she asked, unsure if she should even be considering this.
“If you like,” he said, giving her a nod. “I’ve gotten rather good at keeping secrets over the years, you know. I’d never betray your confidence.”
“How do I know?”
“I give you my word.”
“Full offense, but at this point that doesn’t mean much,” Caroline said, regretting the words at the way his expression tightened. “Sorry. I didn’t mean that.”
“You did,” he said quietly, the words slow. “And I must admit I haven’t exactly done much to inspire confidence.”
“How hard was that to admit?”
His lips twitched. “To be honest with you, love? Much easier than it typically comes to me.”
He sounded so genuine. It was annoying. She took a deep breath. “You’d promise not to tell?”
He paused for a moment, and she thought he was reconsidering for a moment before he spoke. “You should sleep, sweetheart. I want you to be sure, for your peace of mind. And for mine.”
“Sure that I want to ask questions?”
“Sure that any decisions you make will be entirely your own.”
She took a sharp breath, knowing what decision he was implying she could make. Knowing she probably would if he kept looking at her like that. “Yeah. Good. I mean, sounds good.”
“See you in the morning, love,” he said, hesitating for a moment before pressing a light kiss to her cheek and gathering up the bottles to throw them out, turning away.
“I…good night.”
————
She hadn’t gotten much sleep. Though vampires technically didn’t need any, blood was a valuable commodity, and wasting it just so that they didn’t have to rest seemed unwise. She’d spent the entire night tossing and turning, letting her hands wander beneath the waistband of her shorts and then retreating just as quickly, worried that Klaus would hear, worried that she wanted Klaus to hear.
She’d given in around two in the morning after listening intently for Klaus’s breathing to slow, kicking off her shorts and letting her fingers circle her clit. She let herself get lost in visions of Klaus bending over her, demanding she beg as he fucked her much too slowly, staining her skin with fast-fading red marks when she moaned his name instead of his title. She teased herself, imagining her fingers curled against her walls were his, that he had bid her to hold still and scolding her when she shook against the touch, biting back her moans. Her breathing was ragged when she finally allowed herself release after dragging it out for as long as she dared in case Klaus woke, her imagined order of “come for me, sweetheart” tipping her over the edge.
She made sure to shower before she made her way to the kitchen in the morning, nervous that he’d catch the scent of her arousal, but from the knowing look he shot her, the curve of his lips, she had a feeling he knew anyway. She didn’t mind as much as she thought she would, which was honestly the scariest and yet most exhilarating part.
“From all the free dirty kindle books I think I’m a sub, just so you know.” She’d waited until he’d taken a sip of blood-laced coffee, mostly to indulge her own enjoyment of watching the look on his face as the (second?) most powerful creature on earth attempted to hold back his cough when the liquid went down the wrong pipe. It was deeply satisfying.
“Good morning to you too, sweetheart.”
“Good morning! But does that work, or do you prefer subbing? I won’t judge. Plus toxic masculinity is gross and people like what they like.”
“I prefer the dominant role, yes,” he said, looking more amused than anything else now that he’d recovered from his coughing fit. “No offense taken. I’ve tried it.”
“Not a fan?”
He did a surprisingly un-Klaus like grimace, and she wondered if he picked it up from her. “Not at all, no.”
“Makes sense, I guess.”
He didn’t question why. “Does that mean you’ve made a decision?”
“I mean, I have more questions first, if that’s okay.”
“Always.”
She peppered him with questions. What kinds of things did he like to do? What were his usual rules for his subs? What punishments did he like to use when they broke them? Did he do that thing in all the books where he makes his subs sit a certain way? What title did he like? Why do people call it playing? Did he make it a requirement to be playing 24/7?
On and on.
He was patient, answering her questions thoroughly and seemingly honestly. A lot of them were “it depends” followed by examples, and she resisted the urge to ask him more specific things about what he liked to stop him from saying all the words like that. It was just unfair, honestly. She found herself tempted as he painted a picture of what it could be like, his stories more like offers, the way he raked his eyes up and down her body when she rubbed her thighs together and bit her lip a sure indication that he was aware that she was seriously considering it, that he was imagining all the things he’d do to her if she agreed.
“I think I want to,” she admitted finally, her fingers curling around the handle of her mug, the coffee having long gone cold. “Try, I mean.”
“Do you know what sorts of things you’d like to try? Did the, ah…dirty kindle books give you any ideas?”
“I think I probably don’t know a lot of the options,” she admitted. “Being tied up seems fine? I don’t know.”
“What do you think about when you touch yourself?” he asked, as though admitting her fantasies was as easy as breathing. She flushed at his knowing glance, at the way his low tone made her breath catch.
“Getting told what to do, I guess? Being rough with me.”
A predatory smile spread across his face that made her all too aware of how her spine was pressed against the counter, giving her no room to move. It was a surge of adrenaline, the feeling of being hunted even if she’d expected it, wanted it. She let him move closer, let him take the mug out of her hands and set it on the counter before his palms settled on her hips. He glanced at her for a moment, reading her expression, checking for confirmation, and she nodded. He lifted her easily onto the counter, gently pressing her thighs apart, smirking when he saw the damp spot on the cotton of her shorts. “Tell me more, sweetheart.”
She took a deep breath, almost shaking with anticipation as he reached to fiddle with the drawstrings of her shorts, pulling the knots at the ends between his fingers, his knuckles brushing against her bare thigh just below the scalloped hem. She desperately wanted him closer, for his fingers to brush against her already wet center, but she tried to concentrate on what he asked her. They weren’t in play yet, hadn’t even really talked about any real ground rules, but she already didn’t want to disappoint him, wanted the rush of pleasing him.
“You talk to me,” she offered, feeling her face heat when he smirked, his eyebrows raising.
“I talk to you?”
“You knew I was thinking about you sometimes” she said, trying to sound matter of fact even though she was kind of mortified. “You’re not an idiot.”
“Only sometimes?”
She swallowed. “A lot,” she said, her voice soft. “Probably too much.”
“No such thing,” he murmured, moving forward to gently press his lips against hers, moving his hand to find her clit through the fabric and press down lightly. She moaned into his mouth, her hands moving to rest on his shoulders. She’d imagined what it would be like to kiss Klaus probably hundreds of times, but this was…better. He took his time coaxing her lips to part for him, his tongue sweeping against the seam of them and then sucking her bottom lip lightly, giving a satisfied hum when her hips jerked against his fingers, swallowing her gasp. She felt the lightest brush of fang, not enough to break skin but enough to send a jolt through her that she’d never felt with anyone else.
Enough to make her want him more.
“Do you know how long I’ve dreamt of this, Caroline?” he whispered against her lips, the light brushes against her mouth making her shiver. “I stroke my cock imagining the sounds I’ll coax from your pretty lips, how I’ll make you shake for me. I’ve spent far too much time considering what a pretty picture you’d be spread for me on my sheets, your hair tangled in my fingers, just begging to be tugged. I want to tempt you into giving into your filthiest desires, to give yourself to me so that I can grant your every wish. I’ll give it all to you, Caroline. Anything you ask.”
She tipped her head back as he began to press light kisses down her jawline. “Tell me now, love. What do you think about? What do you want?"
"I…”
“What did you think about last night?” he asked, and she could hear the smugness in his voice. It would have made her want to smack him if his fingers between her legs didn’t feel so fucking good. “I heard your breathing, the rustle of the sheets. What’s on your mind, love?”
“I imagined you behind me,” she began, her voice shaky, almost embarrassed to say the words out loud. “You were pulling my hair and making me beg for you. Teasing me.”
“Begging me for my cock?”
“Yes.”
“Where, Caroline? What was I doing? Was I filling your pussy? Stretching you? Making you ask for me to fuck you faster? Harder?” his voice was a low growl, heavy with lust. She felt his hand leave its place at her center and moaned at the loss of friction, squirming to try and make him go back. He chuckled, sliding his palm beneath her ass and pinching the flesh of it lightly, making her gasp. “Or perhaps I was taking your pretty arse with my cock. Making you beg for me to make you truly submit. Did you ask for me to pull your hair and show you who owns you, Caroline? Do you like being made to admit that you’re mine?”
She knew she was blushing brightly, her breathing labored at the picture he was painting in her mind. She hadn’t considered the possibility somehow, that being claimed like that might turn her on, but she was growing more wet from it, somehow found herself needing it.
“The first one,” she admitted. “And sometimes I’d call you by your name instead of by your title just to make you spank me.”
“What was I in this fantasy, Caroline?”
“What do you mean?”
“What did you call me?”
She inhaled sharply as he squeezed her ass, the bite of his nails making her hips jerk. “Master,” she whispered, the word foreign on her tongue and yet somehow comfortable. Natural. She heard the rumble low in his throat that she’d somehow always known he’d make, the pleased hum of a satisfied predator that had won.
“And you like to be spanked?”
She found herself wanting to push him, to see how far he’d go, whether he’d be as possessive as she’d imagined, as she’d secretly wanted.
“Tyler did spank me once or twice and I liked that. He liked me on my hands and knees before the moon.”
Klaus’s returning snarl made her smile. “Jealous?” she asked, trying not to sound too smug.
The answering rip of fabric exposing her skin making her squeak in surprise. She gasped as Klaus found her wet core, the tips of his fingers dipping into it to make her squirm. “Look at me, Caroline.”
She obeyed, her lips slightly parted, needing him to touch her but unsure how to put it into words without sounding desperate.
“Beg,” he whispered, the command also a clear warning. Klaus apparently didn’t care if she was desperate, probably wanted her to be, wanted her to crave him the way he’d clearly wanted her. He wanted to know that she wouldn’t be thinking of anyone else.
“Please.”
“You can do better,” he murmured, the implied order making her shiver. Her craving for his approval and his touch warred with the instinct to not give an inch, the worry that she’d embarrass herself. “And address me correctly.”
“Please touch me, Master.”
“More,” he demanded, though he rewarded her with a brush of his thumb against her clit, coaxing out a moan. “Tell me what you want. Perhaps I’ll be kind enough to indulge you.”
“Master, I…please make me come. Please. I need you to touch me.”
“How do you want me to touch you, Caroline? Do you want to my fingers or my cock?”
She swallowed, knowing which she’d prefer, but the word seemed so filthy to say out loud. She bit her lip. “Your fingers, Master.”
“I don’t like it when you lie to me, love.”
She flushed. “Sorry, Master.”
“Say it, sweetheart.”
She rolled her hips, hoping for him to at least let her have another touch, but he withdrew, an eyebrow raised. “I want your cock, Master,” she said finally. “Please.”
“Good,” he praised, pressing a soft kiss to her neck. “And where do you want it?”
“Inside of me.”
She knew she’d been too vague the moment she’d said it and Klaus pulled away, his lips twisted in a wicked smirk. Her reluctance to use words that made her blush was clearly something she’d have to get over.
“Get on your knees, then,” he said, his hands already going for his belt.
She let her knees hit the tile floor, arching her back to stretch before settling on her elbows, her legs spread. She heard Klaus chuckle behind her, and she looked over her shoulder in confusion, about to ask what was so funny, and her lips parted when she saw him already nude, stroking his cock in his hand, his thumb brushing over the tip of it. She felt her core ache, her walls fluttering in anticipation, needing that feeling of fullness, but he grabbed the nearby kitchen chair and settled into it. “On your knees here,” he corrected, pointing at the tile floor in front of him. “I want to watch you suck my cock. That fulfills your request, doesn’t it? For you to take me in your mouth?”
Technically, she supposed it did. She knew better than to argue anyway. “Yes, Master.”
“Good. Come here. Crawl.”
She was pretty sure that her skin tone had been increasingly approaching tomato-level red, but she was growing too turned on to care, feeling the embarrassment fade as she let herself give in. She crawled the few feet towards him, settling between his legs and keeping her gaze on his as she leant forward. His hand buried in her hair, keeping her in place. “What do you say when I’m kind enough to give you what you so sweetly begged for, love?”
“Thank you, Master.”
“For?”
“Thank you for letting me suck your cock, Master,” she amended, the words becoming easier to say every time she saw Klaus’s eyes darken with lust when he watched her. “May I begin, please?” she added impulsively, drawing on said free kindle books for inspiration, hoping it was the right thing to say. Klaus’s returning dimpled grin told her that it was.
“Good girl,” he murmured, his grip on her hair loosening to allow her to bend forward. She was finding that she liked getting praise from him, that it was immensely satisfying to know that she was doing well, that she was saying the right things. That he wanted her as she was. She wanted more.
She parted her lips, letting her tongue flick against the tip of him, savoring his low groan before wrapping her lips around him, taking as much as she could and hollowing her cheeks as she bobbed up and down his length. She kept her eyes down–Tyler had liked that she had clearly submitted so she assumed Klaus would too–and she felt a light tug on her hair. “Look at me,"
She let her eyes flick up to meet his, found herself almost hypnotized by his gaze in a way that felt entirely different from compulsion. The heady rush of how he was watching her, as though he’d found nothing more mesmerizing in his life than her lips around his cock, was difficult to tear herself away from. So she didn’t. She kept going slowly, teasing him with her tongue and teeth, experimenting to see what he liked. She could feel her pussy ache when he told her how much he loved watching her on her knees for him with her lips around his cock, rubbed her thighs together to relieve the friction there when he told her he could smell it, that he could tell how much she loved being his to command, how much she loved submitting. She reached to use her hands to stroke him where her mouth couldn’t reach when he ordered her to, the sharp tone making her ache.
He was getting close, she could tell, his lips parting, eyes growing hazy. He bucked against her mouth when she dragged her teeth down his shaft at the same time as she stroked his sac, making her gag loudly. He seemed to like it. She wanted him to come, to watch the original hybrid become putty in her hands. She slowly ran her nail down the patch of skin underneath him that she’d read on the internet once would make most men fall apart.
The internet, as it turned out, was not wrong in this particular case.
She swallowed, pulling away slowly, resisting the urge to lick her lips or wipe her face with the back of her hand, something telling her that Klaus wanted to see her like this. His breathing was heavy, his body relaxed. She practically preened when he reached to stroke her cheek. "I think I like seeing my release cling to your skin, love. Perhaps next time I’ll come on your breasts. Make you leave it there for hours as a reminder of how you were willing to beg for my touch.”
She gasped when he reached to wipe it away with his thumb, holding it in front of her lips as an invitation. Perhaps a command. She ran her tongue slowly along the pad of it to lick it clean, holding his gaze, satisfied at his low groan. She found herself straddling him on the chair a moment later, pressed against his body and fighting to keep herself from grinding her wet core against his hand, the heel of his palm so close to her clit that if she shifted just a bit he might give her the friction she needed. She had a feeling he wouldn’t take kindly to that, though, perhaps even cruelly leave her just on the edge, and she really wanted to come.
“Thank you, Master,” she said again, hoping that remembering that he’d framed it a reward for her would get him to give her what she actually wanted, and he chuckled, pressing a soft kiss to her lips.
“Do you want to come, Caroline?”
“Yes, please.”
He let one of his hands stroke her spine as he pressed two fingers inside of her, curling them against her walls and beginning to move them slowly, adding a third after she’d adjusted enough. She was vaguely aware that she was begging out loud, barely stopped herself from saying his name more than once, and she heard him murmur pretty words about how delicious he was sure she’d taste, how perhaps next time he’d let her come on his tongue instead and wouldn’t she like that?
“Yes, Master.”
He pressed his thumb to her clit, watching her tip over the edge with an expression that might have been closer to affection than lust. She wondered whether she should be concerned by that, by the fact she’d already admitted deep down that this wasn’t just about sex.
No, Klaus had lured her in with promises of his touch and his attentions, but that wasn’t really the hook that pulled her towards him. He would entice her by bringing her fantasies to life and making her body crave him. He’d make sure to ruin her for everyone else. But she knew that even if she hadn’t given in, even if she’d remained in denial, he would have inevitably won over her heart just as he did her body. She knew his games, was completely aware that he had an ulterior motive for this, that he likely already knew how close she was to admitting out loud that she wouldn’t mind being his that much. Or at all.
Klaus generally got what he wanted, stopped at nothing to achieve his goals and obsessed over his projects with an intensity that even she, a certified goal-setter, found vaguely terrifying.
And she’d never been more sure of anything in her life than that Klaus Mikaelson wanted her, at least for now.
All she had to decide was whether, or more accurately when, she’d truly give herself to him.

Okay, again, really sorry, so here's a real question as an apology. Which sitcoms (modem or older) do you see the Dragon Ball cast fitting into the best?
It’s okay, anon, just try to be more careful.   Anyway, I haven’t watched non-wrestling TV in years, so I’m going with a 30-odd year old sitcom: Night Court.
Night Court’s pretty dumb, but it worked for me as a kid, because they wrote so many childish gags into the show that it was easy to follow, and the “mature” humor was basically written with the same sensibility of Akira Toriyama writing potty humor for 13 year olds.
youtube
For example, in the above clip, ventriloquist dummies are somehow alive?   There’s a lot of gags like this in Night Court, where something impossible, or even magical, is presented as a punchline, but when you stop and think about it, the world of Night Court can’t just write this stuff off as one-off gags.    Puppets can talk, and that witch Harry dated in that one episode is still out there.
youtube
In this one, Dan Fielding has to stop having casual sex for two weeks for... some reason, and he’s like a heroin addict going through withdrawal.    When he finds out he can have sex again, everyone flees because they think he might jump them.   Then he contemplates slashing his own wrists, which I think was lost on me at the time, but finally he decides to have some sex with some lady he’s not that into.   Dan’s a lot like Vegeta and Master Roshi fused together.    Also “Dan Fielding” isn’t his real name, it’s “Reinhold Elmore”, so he’s like Goku, sorta.
youtube
I was going to use this one to point out that Billie Young always felt like the Ocean Dub version of Christine Sullivan, but there’s something compelling about Michael Richards playing a mentally ill man who thinks he’s become invisible.   He only gets a few minutes to set up his backstory, but it works.    People ignored him and overlooked him for so long that he started to believe he literally can’t be seen.   It’s the sort of thing you see in Dragon Ball, where seemingly one-dimensional characters can have layers.
youtube
In this one, Harry’s in some sort of prank rivalry with another judge over who’s the best zany young judge.    Harry concedes defeat, but only so he can trick his opponent into putting on his booby-trapped robe, which ends up looking a lot like Cell’s self-destruct mode.
youtube
I’ll close with the final scene of the series finale.   Most of the cast goes their separate ways, and ironically, Harry, who spends the whole episode trying to choose between several dream gigs, decides to stay put in his courtroom.   I think Ros is the only other character who remains with him.    As for Bull Shannon, he spends the whole episode suspecting two guys of being aliens, only to discover at the end that they really are aliens, who invite him to return with them to their native Jupiter.    He agrees, and they teleport away, never to be seen again.   The sound of the wind in Harry’s empty office, while the credits appears on the screen continues to haunt me to this day.  It’s like Goku leaving to train with Uub, only more ominous and final.
I don’t think I can attempt to line up one character to a specific role, like “Bulma would be Markie Post” or anything like that, but the general tone and “anything could happen” attitude is the same.

Thorns
Plot Summary:
Big changes are to come to Sir Cornelius Hollowstone’s School for the Phenomenally Gifted when the Supreme, the man with the living embodiment of magic itself, Toshinori Yagi announced his long awaited retirement. Six witches and six warlocks were to compete amongst themselves in trials to see who will be the next to reign over the the magical community as the Supreme.
Pairings: it’s complicated
Warnings: dark themes, occult themes, swearing, vulgar insinuations, sexual themes, slight bullying, one mention of suicide, drug use insinuation, just dark stuff idk uh
A/N: hi! I got this idea in my head while I was at work and I had to write it down! It’s a magic school au and like GIS, there’s a lot of pairings and it gets a little complicated. I just thought I’d post the first chapter here and then with updates the rest will be on my AO3 like I do with most of my serieses! (Serieses sounds wrong uh) but basically!!! Magical school heavily inspired by American Horror Story: Coven! If you can’t watch American Horror Stiry then I suggest that you don’t read this because it’s gonna get pretty dark and kinda spicy! It’s not a smut fic but there will be smut. Just throwin this into the void. For a better summary about what this story is gonna be about, you can check my AO3! Hizzzaaaht! (Everyone is aged up to 18 or older)
Magic exists but it’s nothing.
Magic is to casters the same way that instapots are to mortals. Magic is a cheat; a means to make everyday things easier to casters who have far too much power to exert and not enough time to brew their morning coffee. Magic is unbiased and has no laws to abide by until somebody was bound to come around and make them. Magic can open your car door when you’ve locked your keys on the inside but magic can’t force people to fall in love and it can’t bring people back to life. So it’s nothing.
Or so you thought.
Magic was nothing until you learned that magic is everything.
You were a third year at Sir Cornelius Hollowstone’s School For The Phenomenally Gifted, aptly and absurdly named after a famous warlock who hailed as Supreme three hundred long years ago, who once settled the war between casters and the demons in the underworld by slicing his entire right arm off and feeding it to a hungry hell pit. This would actually be your second year attending Hollowstone since the all girls academy you previously attended in your first year was shut down due to poor funding and the plague of talking rodents that infiltrated the school grounds who had demands that no caster was willing to meet. The current Supreme, the man with the living embodiment of magic itself, Toshinori Yagi, was all too willing to flex his power and rule that the boys and girls academies would be merged in hopes of bringing the magical community closer together. However, if anything, that just made everyone all the more competitive.
Witches and Warlocks did not agree on a lot of things and part of the reason for that was because there hadn’t been a witch reigning as Supreme in almost four hundred years, half because one warlock Supreme from the past lived to be over two hundred years old and half because the witches just gave up as a whole.
There was a power imbalance in the community as well that was very obviously misogynistic in its own right. When the time came for a Supreme to retire, both witches and warlocks were to compete amongst their selective gender for the titles of High Priestess and High Priest. After the two champions are chosen, they must compete against one another to see who will be ascending as the next Supreme. Many odd years ago, a warlock Supreme made the preposterous law that when the High Priest champion became the Supreme, the High Priestess champion would be forced to marry him. He made it law on the grounds that he had fallen deeply in love with his champion counterpart, Harleen Blackwater, who did not reciprocate his feelings. Upon hearing the terrible news that she was to wed the Supreme, she exhausted the dauntless task of taking her own life, resulting in the tradition of High Priestesses ending themselves when they did not become the next Supreme, as one last hail to Lady Blackwater. Of course, that wasn’t mandatory. The tradition was never set in stone but when it did happen, it wasn’t something that the community would bat an eyelash at. It just be like that sometimes.
The school year was starting out with an excited frenzy, much to your annoyance, because Yagi had just announced his retirement which meant the trials for the champions were about to begin. Six third year witches and six third year warlocks were to be selected to compete for their champion titles and that was all anybody could talk about. You, on the other hand, didn’t care for the trials, rather, you wished you didn’t. Of course, big changes like this piqued anybody’s interest but you were a cynical witch and a mundane one at that. You were called a T.Di witch, which stood for Telekinesis and Divination. Mortals would think “oh wow, telekinesis! That’s super OP!” but it wasn’t. Not in your world. Telekinesis was the most versatile of the seven affinities and though, when used correctly, it could be very powerful, more often than not, it was only used to float objects to lazy casters. Everyone had telekinesis. To put it simply, you weren’t special. Your other affinity, divination, was looked down upon in your community. Divination: the ability to obtain direct knowledge of an object, person, location, or physical event through a relating energy. Basically if someone needed something to be found, you suddenly became their best friend until you helped them with their lost item and then you’d get tossed back into Loser Village, population: you and Izuku Midoriya.
Most third years already had two of the seven affinities, those seven affinities, the seven divine powers granted to casters, being telekinesis, pyromancy, divination, transmutation, decensum, vitalum vitalus, and concilium. Poor Izuku Midoriya was just a T warlock; he could only use telekinesis and, on top of that, he still had to use a wand. Wands were given to first years so they could get a better grip on channeling their magic. After understanding the basic fundamentals of magic, second years learn to wield their power with their hands and by the end of the of the year, all students should have a better grasp on it. Midoriya was still a ways behind. You felt sorry for him but at least he was pretty decent at memorizing spells. As the two of you were each other’s only semi-casual friends, you helped each other out a lot. He was quite intelligent so he was your encyclopedia and since he was always losing things, you were his finder’s eye.
So you knew that the trials had absolutely nothing to do with you. You hoped whoever was to become the next High Priest and Priestess were two casters that were interested in changing the law a bit but it would most likely be two students who’d already been royal assholes to you. Still, you’d probably end up watching some of the trials, particularly the trials involving memorization or wit but other than that, you’d stay away from the discourse.
You spent most of your time in the herbology room, which was where you were now, since it was the classroom nobody could really use magic to excel in unless one had chlorokinesis like Ibara Shiozaki. You liked tending to the plants. They didn’t care if you were a T.Di witch nor did they talk down to you. They only showed you their appreciation by blooming for you after you’d fed them all your tender love and care.
You were lucky enough to aide for Professor Aizawa’s Herbology 1 class, which proceeded into his Herbology 2 class that you were taking straight afterwards. After taking his Herbology 1 and Potions 2 classes the previous year, he had quickly become your favorite professor at Hollowstone and you, hopefully, had become his favorite student. When the class you aided for ended and it was passing period, Aizawa would ask you for answers to problems he already knew the solutions to, just to humor you and test your knowledge— a fun game that you appreciated.
“A warlock has been struck with a hex that has caused him to convulse and vomit uncontrollably. He’s lost all his teeth in the process. Would you use hawthorn, licorice, or juniper to wean him away from his ailments?”
You stopped tapping your pen on the lab bench you were sitting on and brought it to your lips, eyeing your teacher to see if he was giving you some sort of tell, but Aizawa’s expression was as unreadable as ever.
“Is he suffering from any other kinds of symptoms? How is his heart?”
“Same as it was before the hex and he has no other symptoms aside from the ones I’ve listed.”
“Alright then, that’s easy! Juniper!”
In response, Aizawa quirked a brow, signaling that he needed more than just a simple answer. There was always a catch with him.
“Juniper and…” one steady tap of the pen on your lips brought the answer to your head, “yarrow!”
Aizawa reached out, grabbed the pen away from your lips and placed it next to you on the bench, a ghost of a smile playing on his lips. “Go on.”
You pulled down on your school skirt, always needing to fidget with something when you had to concentrate. Aizawa rolled his eyes and you jokingly scowled back him.
“I would use the juniper and mix it with crushed yarrow. No-! I’d cut the juniper and fuse it with yarrow extract, then that together and give it to the warlock. Then maybe to relax his muscle spasms, I’d have him smoke some lavender because... I’m nice.”
Aizawa clicked his tongue and took your pen from the bench. “Clever witch,” he said, opening his notebook to scribble in it.
“What! That was noteworthy?” You said with a little more excitement than you wanted to show him. If anything, you didn’t want to be a loner and a teacher’s pet but getting Aizawa’s approval was something special to you.
“It was. I would’ve crushed the juniper and something with the same properties as yarrow together and brewed that together but letting the juniper soak in yarrow is close to genius. And I probably wouldn’t have even thought about bringing lavender into the equation. I’m impressed.”
“I carry around dried lavender anyways and I’m always trying to think about what I can use it with,” you grinned sheepishly, trying to hide how thrilled you were at receiving his praise.
“You know, I’m a little disappointed in you.”
You frowned. “I don’t smoke the lavender myself. I just carry it around with me.”
He chuckled. “That’s not why I’m disappointed… why aren’t you taking my potions class this year?”
“Oh…” If you were being honest, you didn’t dislike potions but the students that were going to be taking the class were a whole lot of people you wanted to avoid. Getting bullied at an all girls academy was one thing but now that you had witches and warlocks laughing at the T.Di witch, it was a little overbearing. “I had to choose between aiding and potions and… I don’t know. I guess I really like plants.”
“There are plants in my potions class.”
“Yeah.” And other really gifted casters but you didn’t want him to know how insecure you were.
“Hmph,” he closed his notebook and eyed your school bag that was draped across the chair you were supposed to be sitting on. “So you carry dried lavender around?”
“Mhmm…” your face began to flush.
“And you don’t smoke it?”
“Ha?” Your breath caught in your throat. In the witching world, there weren’t a whole lot things you could get in trouble for but you’d consumed enough mortal media to have a slight fear of getting in trouble with authoritative figures for your recreational activities. “I mean, maybe if I’ve been a bit stressed out.”
“Huh. I wouldn’t have guessed. Do you mix it with anything?”
“Professor!” Your face grew hot and the tie around your neck felt too constricting. You knew that you weren’t in any kind of trouble but you couldn’t keep your stomach from forming nervous knots.
“There’s no need to be embarrassed, I really am just curious about you,” he grinned, amused at your obvious fluster. “So, you have some on you?”
You looked at your teacher and sighed. To hell with it. Reaching over, you grabbed your bag from off your chair and shook the little pouch you kept your treasure in. “If you want some, you’re gonna have to tell me what you’re going to use it for.”
“You might find it hard to believe but a teacher’s life is far more stressful than a student’s. I have… ways of destressing but a little added lavender could be quite beneficial,” he took the pouch from you. “How much can I take?”
“You can have it. I’ve got some growing in the makeshift greenhouse outside my dorm. It’ll be ready for me to clip any day now.”
He looked at you with surprised amusement. “During Autumn?”
“Well,” you smirked, “I am a clever witch.”
“That you are.” Aizawa thanked you and pocketed your pouch. At that moment, the chimes from the bell tower sounded the end of passing period and the beginning of class; a short eerie jingle you still hadn’t gotten used to even after a year.
“Big surprise,” Aizawa sighed, “everyone’s late.”
“They’re excited,” you said pointedly.
“And you’re not?”
You shrugged. You were just thankful that your last school year had something that would keep everyone else occupied.
“Alright,” he tapped your bare knee, surprising you, “get your ass off of my bench before my students think that’s okay too.”
“My ass?” You laughed, hopping down from the table. “I’m your student too, Professor Aizawa.”
He started walking towards his desk. “Then you should know that I have strict rules for my classroom. No ifs, ands, or…”
“Butts?” You offered.
He grinned and snapped his fingers, conjuring signs to sit atop all of the greenhouse benches that read ‘NO “BUTTS!”’ You stifled a snort as your classmates began shuffling into the greenhouse.
Speaking of the the recreational use of certain herbs, in walked Hanta Sero and Denki Kaminari with two big stupid grins hanging off their faces. You already felt your shoulders begin to tense as Kaminari approached you.
“Hey, tiddy witch!” He tapped you on your back but you kept your head down, resisting the urge to roll your eyes at the horrible nickname. It had been an accident on Kaminari’s part last year when he read off a list of students in your charms class and when it came to your name, he read ‘T.Di’ as ‘tiddy’. Once he saw everyone laugh at his mistake, it was all over for you and the name stuck. You weren’t sure if he knew or even cared that the nickname bothered the hell out of you. “How’s it going?”
“Fine.” You pulled your notebook out of your bag and flipped it open to the next empty page, trying to make a point that you wanted to focus on your work.
“Just fine?” You could hear the smile in his voice as he sat on the chair next to you with Sero joining him. It was a shame that Aizawa didn’t have assigned seating in this classroom. “But we’re here!”
“Uh-huh,” you began scribbling down unimportant words so it looked like you were busy but you could still feel Kaminari’s eyes on you. Finally your gaze met his. “What do you want, Kaminari?”
“I need help finding something!” His golden eyes shined while his grin widened and Sero hit his shoulder.
“Dude, don’t,” Sero said, though he covered his mouth to hide his smile.
Kaminari looked back at Sero and snickered and turned his attention back on you. “Can you help me find it?”
Your eyes narrowed. Your brain screamed, ‘shenanigans!’ but a small part of you wanted to help; the small part of you that wished to be well liked. Against your better judgement, you asked, “what is it?”
“I can’t really say what it is but I can describe it to you!”
...That was the kind of challenge that you liked to indulge in. You sighed and said, “okay. Do you have anything on you that’s related to whatever it is you’re looking for?”
“Errmmm, yes and no… maybe you can just hold my hand while I tell you about it?” He rested his hand palm-up on the table.
Your eyes flicked over to Sero whose head was buried in his arms on the bench, shaking with hidden laughter. Suspicious, you took his hand. “Alright, shoot.”
Sero let out a snort and Kaminari snickered with him. “Cool. Cool cool. Uhhh, okay… how to describe it... Well, it’s big.”
“Okay, big,” you noted, closing your eyes to allow your mind to swim through the nether. A spiral of large objects made their way past your consciousness while you started your search for Kaminari.
“And it makes me happy?”
“Happy,” you whispered, barely even able to hear the chuckles anymore. You were focused.
“It can make you happy too… especially if we were both using it.”
“Mmhmmm,” your mind took you to the greenhouse outside of your dorms and swam over to a secret trampoline that was hiding deep inside the eastern gardens of the schoolyard. From what you could tell by holding his hand, Kaminari didn’t have any idea about either of those things. “What does it look like?”
“Well,” Kaminari’s voice bounced around in your head, “it carries blood… a part of it resembles a mushroom… there’s a long, throbbing vein that runs along the underside…”
Your eyes shot open and you quickly pulled your hand away from his. You saw exactly what he was referring to and it wasn’t lost at all. In fact, it was attached to his stupid fucking body! Fuck!
“Did you find it?” Kaminari gave you a toothy grin, Sero still hunched over beside him, shaking and lost in a fit of laughter.
“No!” You spat in a hushed tone. What an incredibly vulgar joke! Wasn’t that considered sexual harassment?! Judging by the look on his face, it didn’t seem like Kaminari cared. Boys were so dumb! “I’m sorry, Kaminari, I can’t help you. It turns out, whatever you’re looking for is a little too small for me to detect!”
Sero hooted, banging his hand on the table. “She totally saw it!”
Kaminari’s smile faltered only slightly. “It’s not small, I measured it last week! It’s slightly above average!” He let out an embarrassed laugh, “you’re so cruel, tiddy witch!”
You scoffed. You weren’t cruel, he was. He might as well had dropped his slacks and flashed you! At least then everyone else would be traumatized along with you. You turned away from him and snarled, “are you done?”
Kaminari was silent for a short moment. For a second you thought that he’d finished his teasing but then he waved his hand out in front of your face. “Hey,” he whispered, “hey, are you mad?”
You ignored him and leaned closer to your desk, trying to pay attention to Aizawa’s lecture but Kaminari wasn’t having it.
“Shit,” he scooted closer to you, “wait, I’m really sorry I’ve upset you… hey… tiddy witch…?”
When you didn’t pay him any mind he teleported himself onto the other chair next to you. Kaminari was a T.Tr warlock, meaning that he already had the affinities for telekinesis and transmutation. Transmutation was simply the power to move from one location to another without occupying the spaces in between, or, in other words, teleportation. Popping up out of nowhere was just one more thing to add to the list of Kaminari’s annoying qualities. “Please don’t be mad at me!”
Aizawa stopped talking about the different properties of several disintegrating herbs and glanced at your bench, scowling at Kaminari. “Is there a problem?” He looked from Kaminari to you and silence followed. “What could possibly be so important that you need to interrupt my lecture?”
“Nothing, Professor,” the two of you said in unison. As much as Kaminari bugged you, you weren’t about to be a rat— a poor ‘woe is me, life is a nightmare, nobody is nice to me’ kid. At least, not out loud and definitely not in front of Aizawa.
Not believing either of you, Aizawa scanned the room until his eyes landed on Shiozaki, who was on the other side of the greenhouse poking at some tomato berries.
“Mr. Kaminari, switch places with Miss Shiozaki.”
In an instant, Kaminari zapped himself over by Shiozaki and said something as preposterously stupid as “hey there, sweet thang,” only to have Shiozaki toss her gorgeously thick, vine-like hair over her shoulder, stick her nose up in the air, and walk across the room. She offered you a curt smile before taking her seat between you and Sero. You liked Shiozaki. Having the power of chlorokinesis easily placed her at the top of this class with you as a close second, so you were a tad envious of her abilities but it was the kind of jealousy that drove you to do better everyday. She knew about your one-sided rivalry and even though she wasn’t competitive by nature, she’d humor you by glancing over at your work from time to time to make sure she stayed ahead of you.
You tried to relax and focus on Aizawa’s discussion about how magically charged valerian root could knock a person out with a simple whiff if aged and acutely diced but you kept feeling Kaminari’s eyes on you. After you had gotten used to it, a folded note fluttered its way to your bench. You glanced back at Kaminari who had the same damn stupid grin plastered on his face.
The note read, ‘I really am sorry! Let me make it up to you by taking you to the Cherry Moon Ceremony!’ signed with a hastily-scribbled little heart.
You nearly gagged.
Hell would freeze over before you let Denki Kaminari escort you anywhere and the world would explode before you even thought about going to the Cherry Moon Ceremony! The witching community had some sort of festival for all holidays and every full moon. The Cherry Moon occurred on the first full moon of September. It involved everyone getting very close to nude, if not completely naked, and engaging in many lewd activities, often regarding a virgin or two. Casters were an open minded people and it wasn’t that you weren’t open minded but having been raised with a caster as a mother and a mortal as a father, you were probably one of the more conservative witches around and that was saying something considering how liberal your father was while he was alive. You wouldn’t call yourself a prude, though you haven’t done anything that says otherwise, but being scantily clad in front of your classmates as well as some teachers just did not sound like a fantastic time to you. But Kaminari didn’t have to know that. Kaminari didn’t deserve to know that the thought of going out with him to an event like that flustered you beyond belief. So instead of explaining yourself to him, you turned back to him and mouthed, ‘you don’t even know my name!’
Kaminari pouted at you before whispering to get Sero’s attention. Once Sero turned to him, Kaminari pointed at you and mouthed, ‘what’s her name?!’
Sero chuckled and turned back to face Aizawa, muttering, “like hell I’m telling him.”
You leaned in and whispered over Shiozaki, “do you even know my name?”
Sero offered up a half grin and tapped his pointer finger on his temple. Right. Like Kaminari, Hanta Sero was a T.Tr warlock but he was already gifted with powers outside of the seven affinities. He was clairevoyant; a telepath. He could read people’s thoughts as well as project thoughts into other people’s minds if he wanted to. That sort of explained why he seemed more empathetic than everyone else, though, if you were in his position and you knew what was going on in the poor T.Di witch’s head, you wouldn’t let your friends make so many jokes at her expense. Other than that, Sero was an alright guy but it was easy to forget that he was a strong caster since he spends so much of his time with imbeciles like Kaminari.
Sero snickered… did he hear that?!
“Now,” Aizawa’s stern voice interrupted your train of thought, “since the lot of you were late to my class, how about a pop quiz?”
The class groaned when dozens of flower pots appeared on the benches. Every pot held the same desperate and ugly plant that looked like they used to have flowers. It hurt your heart in a way.
“If you can return some of the plant’s chlorophyll, demonstrating a freshly green hue, you’ll pass. If you can get the flower to bloom again, you’ll get an A. If you’re unable to complete either of those tasks, it’s an automatic fail. Begin.”
Quickly, you got to focusing on your plant. You knew immediately that it was of the asteraceae family. When the plant was in better shape, it seemed like seedlings had dropped down into the pot. That could’ve been the cause of its diminished state, if not from being completely neglected by Aizawa. You grinned. Flower killer Aizawa.
Tenderly, you pinch the stem and tentatively traced the poor thing. You felt your energy surge through you and as your fingers caressed your flora friend, the green hue trailed along with your touch. Reaching an old bud of the plant, your fingers grew warm as the flower began to change and warp underneath them. The corolla started to form and in an instant a gorgeous pink chrysanthemum bloomed and blushed for you.
You let out a long, squeaky yawn. Making the chrysanthemum bloom must’ve drained a lot more of your energy than you thought it would… either that or you could have had a heartier breakfast that morning. You were pleased to see Shiozaki concentrated on her flower, desperately stroking its withered stem with no success and, taking a quick glance around the room, you saw that nobody else had gotten anywhere further; one witch had actually set her pot on fire! T.Py casters.
“If you hadn’t noticed, the plant is dead. And dead means dead. There’s nothing anyone could’ve done to make these flowers bloom. So,” Aizawa’s lips twitched up into that funny grin he did whenever he pulled a past one on his student’s, “you all fail.”
That warranted another groan from the class. You furrowed your brow. Your plant was very much alive. You didn’t fail. You did another once over of the entire room. You were the only student with a flower in full bloom in front of you.
“Now I do curve your grades and since I’m positive that everyone has failed, this quiz doesn’t matter. But you’ve learned a very important life lesson. Which is…?” A pregnant pause from the room lead to Aizawa pinching the bridge of his nose between his fingers in frustration. “Dead means…?”
“Dead!” Yelled one warlock from the back of the greenhouse. A wave of unenthusiastic “dead”’s followed.
“Tiddy witch’s plant isn’t dead!” Chimed in Kaminari, who, for some reason, still had eyes on you.
Aizawa froze. Slowly he turned to you. From the head of your bench, his eyes twitched down to your pot. “What?”
Finally, some good old fashioned recognition.
He walked over to behind your chair and leaned over you. He was so close that you could smell him; he had on a nice earthy blend with a hint of coffee. You tilted your head away from him. Liking your teacher’s scent was probably a bad thing. Morally gray, at least to mortals… probably.
“It appears you’ve completed the assignment,” he said in a low, hushed tone.
“This was rigged,” shouted a student. “It’s ‘cause she was the only one who wasn’t late! That’s favoritism!”
It wasn’t beyond Aizawa to pull something like that over to make a point to his lagging students but he looked awestruck. But it wasn’t a huge deal… you just healed a plant.
Aizawa cleared his throat and, not taking his eyes away from your pot, he asked, “each of these plants are exact copies of themselves. How did you do this?”
“I don’t know. I just,” another yawn escaped you and you hoped it didn’t look like you were bored or even smug with yourself, “I just did it.”
Aizawa examined your flower very closely. He brought his thumb to the steam and steadily traced your plant upwards, fingering the leaves. When he got to your ever-delighted Chrysanthemum petals, he tapped lightly on them, making some of the petals drop and flutter down gracefully on to your bench before they shriveled up back to their previous state. Aizawa clicked his tongue. He looked you straight in the eye. You held your breath. You were proud of yourself but you were sure you were about to get dragged behind your back again if Aizawa said something about you being a clever witch in front of everyone else… though hearing it again wouldn’t be so bad.
“You get a 90%. The rest of the class gets 50.”
You felt the room grow heavy. In Aizawa’s Herbology class, a 50 out of 90 was still passing but hardly. Most students took this class because they thought it was going to be an easy pass like his Herbology 1 class, so this wasn’t fun news to anybody.
There was salty energy in the air for the rest of the period but other than that, you and your chrysanthemum flower were forgotten about. When class ended, Aizawa instructed you to take the pot with you and take notes on any sudden developments your plant my form. “A pet project,” he called your task. “Take good care of it for me, okay?”
Despite your likeability plummeting after the incident, you were excited for your project. Your mind whirled with ideas on what to do with your assignment; what to do with the plant that wasn't supposed to heal. You didn’t want to disappoint Aizawa. You were, at least to him, a clever witch.

A Discovery of Witches - Show vs Book - 1
If you don’t want to read this long rambling mess of thoughts, I’d say that, in summary, the show and book are great complements for each other. As usual, I would say that it’s best to read the books first and get all the plot through Diana’s POV, as well as more of her inner thoughts. Then, follow up with watching the show to see the other supporting characters more fleshed out, as well as, in general, be able to get solid visualizations of the places, people and magic in the story.
Goes without saying that under the cut there are spoilers for the whole of ADOW S1, as well as mild spoilers for Book 2 and 3, especially at the end where I speculate about Season 2 =w= (( for more ADOW and bishmont feels, my fandom trash site is @cherchersketch. Once S2 is out, I’ll probably throw my episodic book vs show ramblings there ))
Opening
Tumblr media
In lieu of some sort of opening song, every episode starts with these words, as well as Matthew’s voiceover, ending with him reciting a phrase that his father once said, “In every ending, there is a new beginning”. It’s interesting because in the book, the titular phrase “ A Discovery of Witches” only appears towards the end as Diana is trying to find out more about Ashmole 782. The mention of Phillipe’s words don’t even show up until near the very end of the second book, Shadow of Night. It is an intriguing way to get viewers interested in the show though. From the very first episode, it’s speculated that Ashmole 782 contains the origins of all 3 types of creatures, vampires, daemons, and witches. It is also reminiscent of Matthew’s speech in episode 2 that only two emotions keep the world turning, desire and fear. The title cards confirm that that is true, Ashmole 782 does, at the very least, contains the origin of witches and their first spells. Especially since, in the actual scene where, in the book, Diana sees those words scrawled on a piece of paper, together with one of the missing Ashmole 782 pages as well as a letter from her parents. Instead of the letter and this phrase, the show uses the house as the expository catalyst instead. In episode 8, Diana only receives the missing page. The house shows, through some sort of flashbacks, more or less what the letter states. It’s one of the many ways the show writers really did a great job changing details so the exposition can be shown, instead of just told outright.
Opening Scene
Tumblr media
Honestly, when I first read the book, I was surprised how different the very beginning is. As usual, the main point for switching things around is to be able to organically show and gradually introduce viewers to the world of the series.  From Matthew’s opening dialogue, which is the very first shot we see as well as the first dialogue we hear for this and every episode,  “Once the world was full of wonders but it belongs to humans now. We creatures have all but disappeared. Daemons, vampires and witches hiding in plain sight, fearful of discovery, ill at ease even with each other.” it immediately lets us know how this world is different from ours, the existence of these three types of supernatural creatures, as well as their hostile attitude towards each other.
It also shows us Diana not having complete control of her powers, accidentally activating them in public. And most importantly, establishes the magic of the book, Ashmole 782. I love the shot of the librarian not finding it initially, then suddenly seeing it in the empty spot as she’s walking back with the rest of Diana’s requested books.  In the actual book, it directly opens with Diana having Ashmole 782 in front of her, a brief description of it, and then a bunch of exposition about herself, her parents and her powers.

Another thing that surprised me, how they changed many scenes to have more Diana x Matthew scenes. Because lbr, we all know what sells. Haha.
From the very first time they meet, the scene in the book and TV show are very different. Also, quite understandably, due to the differences a more visual medium like TV has versus a book which can more easily describe stuff that can’t be shown.  In the book, Diana has slightly more control over her powers, in that she vaguely knows it just takes a bit of desire, so to retrieve the book she needs, she just imagines the book in her hand and it flies there. She only realizes that Matthew is also there, noticing her use of magic, because as a witch she can feel when the different types of creatures are looking at her, so she feels his stare as cold spots in her back. In the show, Diana’s grasp of her powers are weaker and more erratic, so the book she hopes to get instead flys off the shelf and lands in Matthew’s hands.
Tumblr media
In the book, Matthew’s initial realisation of his craving for Diana is much more reserved than in the show, though it’s through similar catalysts. On the show, we get that scene of Matthew sniffing Diana’s dropped sweater and just barely being able to control his predatory instincts, prompting him to momentarily run to Scotland to hunt. In the book, a similar thing happens, in that Diana leaves her sweater in his car from being driven home from yoga. It’s implied he got a similar reaction to her scent, though he only tells Diana about it later on, once he’s returned from Scotland.
Another beautifully added scene is the one before the dinner Diana invites Matthew to. In the book, it goes as expected. On the show, the addition of Peter Knox barging in beforehand to harass Diana, leading to Matthew rushing in with vampiric speed to stare down Knox is gr9 because there can never be enough growly protective Matthew scenes.
One aspect of Matthew’s initial stalking of Diana that I feel the show really improved on over the books, is when he breaks into Diana’s room to find Ashmole 782. On the show, he takes advantage of the fact that Diana is out rowing to look through her room to find it. In the book, he just creaks in while she’s sleeping and even makes sure she stays asleep by feeding her his blood. Kind of approaching Twilight’s Edward level of creepiness, though at least it’s more of a means to an end instead of some weird desire to watch Diana while she’s asleep.
Tumblr media
Since they don’t usually show the whole thing on TV, unless it has a higher rating, I didn’t really catch on that they haven’t fully done the nasty at this point. Only realized it when I read that Matthew is specifically refusing to go all the way (for now. Until we learn why in Book 2 ;w;) and on a rewatch saw that yea, he’s just... using his hand or his mouth :x
Tumblr media
One thing I do enjoy in the books over the show is that there’s more time for Diana and Matthew’s relationship to slowly develop. When I first watched it, it felt a bit too fast to be honest, though I did still enjoy the chemistry between Matthew Goode and Teresa Palmer, and a lot of the bishmont scenes were  🔥 🔥 🔥 It was pretty obvious that a lot of scenes had to be cut out to fit everything into the 8 episodes.  In the book, though they’ve also known each other in the same short amount of time, but the way Diana and Matthew’s feelings for each other gradually develop through several dates and yoga lessons (OMG the yoga) makes it seem less Insta-lovey.
Diana
Tumblr media
As I stated at the beginning, the book and the show complement each other. On the show, Diana is shown as being extremely athletic, often rowing by herself or going for a run. It doesn’t really seem to have much significance other than showing that Diana has hobbies outside of her academic work and occasionally providing an excuse for her to be alone so she can be snatched up (yes we know the scene I’m talking about). In the book, there is actually an explanation for it. We are told that Diana’s power incontinence leads to a build up of adrenaline which leads to her panic attacks, an unfortunate effect of the spellbinding on her. To work off the excess adrenaline, she turns to sport as she hates having to rely on medication to regulate it.  Also, as previously mentioned, book!Diana seems to have a bit more “control” over her powers whereas TV!Diana does’t seem to at all. She also seems to have more of a witch’s power for the third eye, seeing visions when she looks at certain objects, like Matthew’s armour.
Matthew
Tumblr media
I would say the main difference between book!Matthew and TV!Matthew is his anger management. From Diana’s description in the book, in the beginning Matthew seems to have an extremely quick temper, being able to go from calm to furious in a matter of seconds, even over seemingly small matters. Later on, it is revealed that he has an inherited blood rage problem. But without knowing that, initially it just seems like a red flag issue and someone Diana should avoid. On the show, Matthew Goode portrays a Matthew (Clairmont) that is always tightly in control of himself, but not necessarily with a hair trigger fuse. His bursts of violence only appear when Diana is threatened so it seems more justified to the viewer.  And book!Matthew’s eyes do the thing where they go all black when he’s in the throes of a blood rage. I’m interested to see how it will be portrayed on the show in the next 2 seasons. Honestly, TV!Matthew never seemed overtly prone to anger like in the books. Just the “usual” overprotective vampire growling and fighting. Guess we’ll have to see how the show is gonna portray it because it’s a pretty major point conflict in the relationship in book 2 and 3.
A bit of a minor detail but in the book, it is shown how impressive Matthew’s academic career is since his living quarters are in an exclusive area of the campus, as befitting his title as one of the very few with an All Souls scholarship.
Gillian (and her friendship with Diana)
Tumblr media
Book!Gillian is a bit more of a throwaway character than TV!Gillian. Book!Gillian seems to be more of a casual acquaintance to Diana, just another one of the Oxford area witches trying to get her to join the local coven. I like the modification in the series where they made her a closer friend to Diana. It gives a greater impact when Gillian ends up betraying Diana’s trust, spilling the secrets Diana thought were safe with a friend to Peter Knox. It amplifies the feeling of loneliness and isolation that Diana goes through when she learns there is no one in Oxford she can really trust, other than Matthew even though she’s only just gotten to know him.  She is also portrayed as slightly more sympathetic on the show. In the book, she is just an example of the many witches in the area who despise other creatures, and thus looks down on Diana for fraternizing with a vampire. This disdain, plus her ambition to be a part of the congregation, leads her to doing Peter Knox’s dirty work, like breaking into Matthew’s lab and sending Diana the gruesome photos of her dead parents. On the show, she seems to have more of a timid personality, making her a bit of a doormat that is easily manipulated by Knox. She is also given a lower position, still being unable to qualify for tenure while Diana is one of the youngest to have done so at Yale, giving Gillian a bit of an inferiority complex. This makes it easy for Knox to feed her lies about Diana using her powers for her own academic gain, leading Gillian to carry out Knox’s dirty work in order to gain more of a status in her witchy community.
It’s also an interesting detail that later on, when Matthew sucks her blood as payback for breaking into his lab, on the show it’s presented more as him wanting to know what Gillian has seen and how much she was able to report to Knox. It kind of implies that the extra blood loss that lead to her death might have been due to her dragging herself all the way to the house of the coven leader, at least, that’s how I saw it. Matthew later on even mentions that he didn’t mean to kill her. In the book, since we’re not really shown the scene, it is just mentioned that Matthew sucked her blood and killed her for revenge.  Since Matthew is one of the two main leads, and Gillian was a closer friend of Diana’s than in the book, it makes sense they would want to tone down the extent of Matthew’s culpability while still having Gillian end up dead.
Marcus (and his children. Or lack thereof)
Tumblr media
There’s a bit more of Marcus in the show than the book, which is nice. We see book!Miriam more in the beginning since she’s the one who guards over Diana in the Bodleian on Matthew’s behalf. Understandable as being Matthew’s lab assistant gives her access to the same areas in Oxford, unlike Marcus who works somewhere else. I liked the added interaction of Marcus and Diana where she asks him what food to prepare for her dinner date with Matthew, in exchange for letting him and Miriam draw her blood. It’s a cute scene.
We are first shown that vampires are increasingly failing to sire by TV!Marcus failing to save his friend, James. They then analyse his blood, proving that he has the same genetic markers as other cases of failed sires. In the books, it’s just a vague mention of it happening to other vampires. The show kind of gave me the impression that it was the first time Marcus had tried siring but in the books, he has a whole family of children in New Orleans. I’m curious how the show will incorporate that then, since they’re sort of an important plot point for certain events, especially in Book 3.  Also, the point that Marcus attempted to sire James without asking for his permission first brings to mind Matthew’s previous siring of Cecilia that led to her suicide. It’s not given a huge emphasis on the show though it comes up twice, so having read the book Matthew’s anger at Marcus siring James without asking for permission is an extra D:
Pacing and plot changes The biggest difference between the book and the show, is that the book is written in a first person limited style, from Diana’s POV, with a smattering of third person limited chapters to show some scenes where Matthew is away from Diana. The show show employs more of a third person omniscient style. From the start, we are shown all the members of the Congregation, as well as other characters that loom in the background, slowly closing in on our main characters. It’s less of a jarring experience when certain events occur.
Tumblr media
Satu In the show, we are shown from the beginning how Peter Knox recruits her into the Congregation, as someone who can take his side in Congregation matters. She is portrayed slightly more sympathetic as instead of just appearing in the middle to open up Diana, we see her already confronting Diana early on to try to gauge Diana’s powers. We also see her try to learn more about Diana by reading through Congregation archives. And we see Peter Knox’s power over her initially as he subdues her using his power. Also, like most witches, she is convinced that Matthew is using his vampiric powers to put Diana under his spell. Though these don’t justify the extremes she goes to, it is less of an abrupt shock when she appears to whisk Diana away from Sept-Tours and open her up to see Diana’s secrets and true powers.
Tumblr media
Juliette Another whoa-that-came-out-of-nowhere antagonist in the book. In the show, as with Satu, we see her slowly closing in on our main characters as she is shown to have an obsession with “Matthew”, under Gerbert’s control. Though it does seem kind of :x that Marcus and Miriam didn’t warn Matthew when Juliette broke into his room. It was only a matter of time before she tracked him down to Diana’s home in Madison.
Tumblr media
Sophie and Nathaniel Definitely preferred the introduction of Sophie and Nathaniel in the series than the book =w=;;;  In the book, when they show up out of nowhere to hand Diana one of the items she needs to travel to 1590, it seems a bit Deus Ex Machina-y because we are only following the events through Diana’s limited POV. In the show, we see Sophie slowly try to decipher who she is supposed to hand her family heirloom to, through her prophetic dreams. The idea of creatures intermixing is also gradually introduced as we find out that Sophie is a daemon born to witches, carrying a witch baby. Also implying that her prophetic dreams is due to her witchly heritage.  It also shows us, from the start, Nathaniel’s proficiency in computers, which will come in handy later on.
Deleted Scenes It’s a 579 page book that has to be condensed into less than 8 hours of screen time so of course some things have to be cut.
Yoga Oh the yoga scenes. It would have been vaguely hilarious to see Matthew doing yoga XD Also, it added to Diana and Matthew slowly getting to know each other, as well as the possibility of all creatures getting along.  Pacing-wise, it would probably have been a bit too early in the show to introduce the concept of all the different creatures working together in harmony. Throughout the 8 episodes, there’s a nice development from outright hatred, with Gillian’s attitude towards Diana hanging out with Matthew, begrudging cooperation, within the members of the Congregation, tentative co-existence, with Nathaniel’s daemon group talking about how they interact with other creatures and humans, to the shadow congregation/conventicle that Diana’s family, Matthew’s family and Sophie’s family end up forming towards the end of the season.
The ghosts Another practical cut because plot-wise, they don’t really add as much. It would have been fun to see Granny ghost and the other’s checking Matthew out the first time he steps into the Bishop house XD
Season 2 speculations
Tumblr media
- Suddenly watching a period piece. Haha. Though considering the ending of Season 1, it’ll probably expand on the story and intersperse bishmont’s 1590s shenanigans with present day details, like Marcus’s leadership of the Knights of Lazarus and what happens between Emily and Gerbert - bloodRage!Matthew. Yes please. I AM HERE FOR IT  🔥 🔥 🔥 - T H E  M A R R I A G E and finally getting to see bishmont do the do  😏 - Diana’s R A I N B O W magic. Also, I honestly still can’t quite picture what the knotting that she does with her magic looks like so it’ll be interesting to finally get to see it on screen.  -  Also quite curious to see if they’ll leave the loss of their first child in. On the one hand A N G S T plus a parallel to Matthew’s first marriage to Blanca. On the other hand, is there enough screen time? Also, the whole fear of hereditary blood rage could cover the same A N G S T.
Honestly, there’s so much plot to cover, I’m curious to see how they’ll do it in 10 episodes (EDIT: thanks for the update on S2′s ep count @adow-trash . Sorry I’m super new to the fandom. Only started diving in on Monday)
