My Ideal Revival of the Disney Heroes Franchise

What you’re looking at is the official logo for a now defunct franchise known as Disney Heroes.

Disney Heroes was basically meant to serve as the sister…..or more appropriately, the brother franchise of the Disney Princesses, with the focus being placed on the male heroes of the Disney pantheon.

The franchise initially started back in 1999, but under the name of Disney Adventurers. Not only that, but the line-up was rather small, consisting of the titular protagonists of Hercules, Aladdin, Peter Pan, and their most recent film at the time, Tarzan.

The franchise mainly existed through toys, with some notable merchandising besides that here and there.

The franchise remained this way until about 2003, when it got a notable revamp.

The franchise would get its current name and it would expand the roster quite a bit. The new members included Merlin and Arthur from The Sword in the Stone, Robin Hood, Prince Phillip from Sleeping Beauty, and Li Shang from Mulan.

I also think Simba from The Lion King was a part of the roster as well, I think I remember seeing him on a backpack done for the franchise.

But in 2005, the Disney Heroes franchise had a another revamp…this one notably different from the previous ones.

Although the franchise mainly existed through toys and play-sets that more or less stayed faithful to their respective films, these however…..

Your eyes are not deceiving you….these were actual action figures created and designed by Disney for the Disney Heroes franchise…..and I couldn’t be anymore happier.

Hercules looks like an ancient Greek warrior with the golden armor, plus he’s carrying a big xiphos and a golden shield with the face of a lion.

Peter Pan is now sporting some tan gloves, boots, and ever a mask, carrying a bow and quiver of arrows alongside his trusty dagger.

And Captain Hook has a more swashbuckling look, and his rapier has been replaced with a big ass cutlass!

Prince Phillip and Maleficent were also apart of this line-up of action figures as well.

Phillip had a more knight-like appearance, even having a helmet with a golden falcon on top.

And Maleficent…well, she was in her dragon form.

Sadly, only five action figures were made in this style….

And it’s a shame, given that there were plans to revamp the franchise with a more action-oriented style.

These designs by Disney animator Ruben Procopio for planned future figures for the franchise really highlight this…

Aladdin was gonna look like an Arabian Knight, complete with a dagger and a huge ass scimitar that would make Cloud Strife impressed.

Tarzan was gonna go for a Conan the Barbarian-esque look, complete with a headband, a vest, a tooth necklace, boots, and even a quiver filled with spears, knives, and arrows.

And as you could see, they were even gonna introduce The Beast from Beauty and the Beast as a new member of a roster, with the appearance of a warrior prince and a mace as his weapon.

Unfortunately, these figures never came to be....

Although Disney Heroes franchise was doing decently fine, it was nowhere near the level of success of the Disney Princesses.

As a result of that, Disney slowly but surely phased out the franchise over the next three years.

By 2008, the Disney Heroes franchise silently ended, only merchandising through coloring books and their only new addition since 2003 being....of all characters....Milo Thatch from Atlantis: The Lost Empire.

So yeah....that's pretty much the story of the Disney Heroes franchise.

It's honestly a shame because I could totally see this franchise being pretty successful today.

And given the rise of nostalgia and crossovers in media over the last decade, I could see this being an absolute goldmine for all parties involved.

And today, I'm gonna share on how I think a revival of the Disney Heroes franchise should play out.

.It would aim more towards a older audience, mostly teenagers, similar to the Disney Villains franchise. It wouldn't really focus all that much on toys like the Disney Princesses, though there would be some figurines here and there, instead focusing on media that's more accessible with a older crowd like novels, comic books, video games, and even animation.

.Unlike it's previous iteration, and to that extension the Disney Princesses, it would be more gender-neutral, featuring male and female representatives of most of the represented films as members of the roster.

.Also unlike the Princesses, this franchise has its own backstory. Various Disney villains have joined forces in other to further their respective goals. In retaliation, a group of various Disney heroes, led by Merlin, have united to fight against the villainous alliance and protect their respective realms. I know it's a pretty simple premise, but I think it's the perfect that way.

.The franchise will have a major focus on action and adventure....which for a franchise like this, should be expected.

.Many of the characters will be receiving redesigns in the veins of the ones done for the franchise back in 2005, which give off a fantasy warrior, almost Dungeons n' Dragons vibe. While these wouldn't be to the extent as say, Disney Mirrorverse, they would clearly by different from the characters' usual attire and makes them come off as more like warriors ready for adventure and battle.

.The series will essentially expand on the worlds of the films and bring in elements from their original source materials, official continuations like the TV shows, and even the cultures they represent.

Okay, now that we got the major elements out of the way, I'm gonna briefly share who would be apart of the roster for this new franchise, and list them in chronological order of movie release.

FANS OF DESCENDENTS, ONCE UPON A TIME, EAH, DISNEY AND THE SCHOOL FOR GOOD AND EVIL!

I summon all of you to bring forward something to your attention

We all know these fandoms and know that they have one thing in common. The heroes and villains and, of course, their children.

Now I love all these fandoms as much as the fans.

But imagine what the creators and authors of these worlds would create if they put their heads together and collaborated these worlds together in a way.

Allow me to explain further

There is the school of the royals, where all the heroes and royalty go to follow in their ancestors' footsteps located on an island similar to Auradon. Then there is the school of the rebels, where all the villains and sidekicks go located on an island similar to the isle of the lost. Wonderland Academy, where all Underland children go, and lastly, Oz Academy, where the children of the land of Oz go.

These three schools, of course, have a principle who runs the school, but they have to answer the Grimm family. And I don't mean the brothers Grimm, I mean their Descendents who (like the brothers Grimm) are the ones really running things

Imagine a gang that runs the rebel school, who is the daughter of Maleficent, a princess of the moors, dark fey, one of the most powerful students to ever attend the rebel school. Yhe son of Hades and Persephone. The daughter of Captain Jack Sparrow and the Son of Captain Hook, both children of famous pirates. The daughter of The Evil Queen, a sorceress of dark magic next to Morgana le Fay and her son (who is also a part of the group). The son of the Big badwolf. And the son of Scar, prince of the Outlands

The group who of the royal school is the son of King Arthur Pendragon (obviously) and Prince of Camelot. The son of Simba, prince of the Pridelands, and commander of the Lion guard. The daughter of Beauty and the Beast. The son of Prince Charming. The daughter of Mulan. The daughter of Elsa. The son of Hercules and Megara. And of course, the daughter of sleeping beauty.

Of course, the crew of Wolnderland Academy is the Queen or Hearts' daughter with her cousin, the White princess who is the daughter of the White Queen. The Mad Hatter and Alice Kingsley children (they are twins), the daughter of the Cheshire cat, and the daughter of the White Rabbit

Lastly, the Oz crew. The daughter of the great and powerful Oz. The daughter of Dorothy and her dog T.J. (Totto Jr.). The son of the Scarecrow. The daughter of the cowardly lion. The son of the tinman. The daughter of Glinda the good. And lastly, the son of the wicked witch of the west.

Seriously, guys, imagine the potential this has and imagine the epic world this could be. Take a moment and just imagine it. Because in my PERSONAL OPINION, this would be an awesome book and an awesome show to watch (if made correctly, of course)

Silence.

"Art, where are you?"

More silence. 

"Art, seriously, where are you? I heard you."

Patrick stood with his hands on his hips, a quizzical look on his face as he examined he and Art's shared room. They'd been bunkmates at the Mark Rebellato Tennis Academy since they were twelve, and Art had never not greeted Patrick with a big smile and wave.

Patrick literally heard Art shuffling around the room before he opened the door, so where the hell was he? There weren't many places to hide, so Patrick guessed he'd just have to start looking.

"Art?" He called, checking under his bed.

"Artt??" He drawled, checking under Art's bed.

"Where the hell are you?" He groaned, searching the connected bathroom.

"Arthur Michael Donaldson!" He yelled, standing in the middle of the room.

A short gasp sounded from inside their shared closet, then a small 'Shit!'.

Patrick frowned and walked over to the closet, placing each of his hands on the handles. He paused for a second to listen to the sounds of quiet shuffling of a body and rustling of clothes, then he smirked and yanked the doors open.

"Gotcha!- The fuck?" 

Art was curled up in between all the clothes, cradling a tiny ball of fur in his arms. He smiled sheepishly up at Patrick, who looked absolutely bewildered.

"Hey, Pat..." He smiled, shielding the little creature under his arm.

"What is that?" Patrick asked, trying to get a better view from where he stood.

"Don't be mad."

"Art, what the hell is that?"

"Don't be mad!"

"Okay, just tell me what the fuck it is!"

Art shifted with a grunt, lifting himself out of the closet. He moved the furball into his hands and presented it to Patrick like it was Simba-- And it might as well have been Simba, considering the fact that Patrick was now staring right in the eyes of a little orange kitten.

"Are you serious?" Patrick laughed. Despite his shock and bewilderment, he reached a hand up to scratch the kitten on the head. "Where the fuck did you get this thing?"

The kittened meowed, as if to tell the story itself, before Art shushed it and placed his fingers over its little mouth.

"You know where the courtyard connects to the neighborhood out back? Well, I was out there with Jack and we heard a little meow, so we started running along the fence trying to find it. We found this little guy stuck under the fence, so we picked him up and bathed him and made sure he was okay...but I couldn't let him go," Art explained, mindlessly petting the cat's back.

Patrick shook his head, thoroughly amused by the story. "So...what, you're planning on keeping this kitten a secret from the teachers and coaches? What if you get caught?"

Art paused, as if he hadn't considered that.

"Well...I was hoping you'd help me take care of him? I was planning on keeping him until we go home for Thanksgiving, so I can give him to my mom and make sure she'll take care of him."

Patrick huffed. Thanksgiving was...three months away. They were going to have to take care of this kitten and keep him a secret during room checks for three months. It would be difficult...but Art was looking at him like his life would be over if he had to let this kitten go, and he'd never been good at saying no to Art's pretty blue eyes.

"Okay, so what are we gonna name our baby?" Patrick resigned.

"What?" Art said, confused.

"What are we naming it? If it's gonna be our..." He paused, leaning down to examine the cat's underside. "...son, for the next three months, he needs a name."

Art broke out into a big, goofy smile. His eyes lit up, and Patrick would've thought Art's greatest wish came true. 

"We can keep him?"

"Only if we can co-parent. I'm gonna get way attached to that thing in the next three months, and I don't think I'll be able to handle it if I don't get to see him ever again."

Art laughed and shrugged. "You're already invited to all my family events. I'll make sure our son attends all of them."

Patrick loved that look in Art's eyes. He always looked like he was having the best day ever, especially when he smiled. Art was beautiful.

"Good. So...what's his name?"

"Bartholomew?"

"No."

"Garfield?"

"..Because he's orange? No."

"Uh...Alan."

"No!"

"Buttons."

"No- Actually, that's...that's actually kinda cute. I like that."

Art smiled even bigger, if that was even possible, and offered Buttons to Patrick. Patrick handled him very gingerly and cradled him to his chest. Buttons meowed in protest for a moment, but he quickly resigned to the warmth.

Patrick always ran hotter than Art, so it made sense that Buttons liked being held by him. Patrick was the fire to Art's ice.

"I love our son," Patrick said wistfully.

"I love him, too," Art shrugged. "Not as much as I love you, though," He said jokingly.

Patrick made a fake gagging noise and carefully shifted Buttons over to one hand so he could punch Art's shoulder.

"You're gross."

"You love it."

Welcome to Revenge of the Underrated!

Some of you asked me to put a "haven't watched both" to be more fair to the more unknown movies, but I've seen other tournaments doing this and I think it limits too much who can participate in the polls. So what I decided to do is a double elimination!

What does that mean? That means a movie has to lose twice to be eliminated. In other words, there will be a sorts of losers bracket that'll be part of main bracket. What's next?

Well, I have to make the bracket itself. As you can see, there's a bit more cats than I was intending to have, which means that certain polls in round 1 will have more than just two options. I can already tell you that a lot of the cats from the same fandoms are going to be eliminated in round one. That's why I kept them in. I'm planning on making up the first round match ups based heavily on the similarities between cats and the fandoms they're from. ALSO as you've probably noticed, some cats come in a bundle. That's because they're a family. I'm not doing this to Kitty Softpaws and Puss (at least YET), because even though they also get married in the end, there's a huge gap in their submission numbers. If you're wondering, how big, you may want to know that up to Tigger from Winnie the Pooh (that is, almost the entire first pic) are the cats that got 2+ submissions, in their order of popularity.

Next step - brackets!!! I want to do this well and I hope I don't underestimate certain fandoms!!!

Disney 100 ✨🏰🤍

Wishing you all a happy new year and to Disney, a belated 100th anniversary! 🎉

To celebrate Disney’s century milestone, I created an illustration based on 100 of Disney’s most known and loved characters from their respective movies/ series. I’ve included all the ones I’ve known and feel are generally popular but I’m sorry if your personal favourites aren’t here.

This has been in the works for almost four months now but due to many delays I couldn’t finish it on time. So here it finally is!

Out of all these range characters, the hardest to draw was the Cars. I’m not used to drawing cars so I’m not generally good at them (yet). Some of these may look simple and easy to draw but trust me, they’re not 😂.

With drawing the characters and the background, I like to be accurate with the respective style it’s drawn/ animated in and the colours too. But also I wanted to also simplify the 3D ones and add a little depth using shadow to the 2D ones. For example some of these films would have a desaturated grainy effect to it and I wanted to keep that. But finally after months of working on it, it’s completed and I’m happy with it! ✨.
