Als Señora Morales zusätzlich zu ihrem ohnehin unerträglich frömmlerischen, verleumderischen, heuchlerischen und allgemein missmutigen Umgang mit dem an sich reizenden Gatten seinen mühsam ersparten neuen Photoapparat kaputtmacht, reißt ihm die Hutschnur. Praktischerweise richtet er in seiner Werkstatt auch Skelette für die Medizinstudenten her. So begeht er fast das perfekte Verbrechen.

I love them but my grammar heart aches when I read this (still love Amadeus though ❤️❤️❤️)

It should be: "Mi ha detto che c'è un balletto nel terzo atto", but, more specifically, Salieri should use the courtesy form with Rosemberg, such as "Lei", used in both italian dubs of the movie, or, giving the times, "Voi".

"Voi" was used in Dante's times for example, up until 1500s, when the Spanish dominion introduced the courtesy form of 'Usted", corresponding to the "Lei". Lei, third singular person. Voi, second plural person. During the fa$hist dictatorship in Italy, the regime of dictator Benito Mu$$olini banned the use of "Lei" in favor of Voi, because Voi had its origins in the Roman Empire, whose glories the fa$hist regime wanted to recreate through fear and violence. But by 1938 (the year in which the regime abolished the use of Lei), "Lei" had already spread throughout Italy and the provision was not very effective.

When Fa$hism fell, the formal "Voi" was definitively abandoned precisely because for the people it was linked to an imposition of the dictatorship. The formal "Voi "has remained in use to this day in southern Italy, especially in Naples and its surroundings. Today we address each other with the informal "tu" or "Lei", fortunately without taking social conditions into account. Usually we address older people with the formal "Lei", as a sign of respect, or towards teachers and strangers who are older than us.

"Lei" as a form of courtesy, not to be confused with the "Lei" used to refer to a feminine subject, corresponding to "her"

All of this just to say that the phrases should be like "mi ha detto che C'È un balletto nel terzo atto" ("you have told me that there is a ballet in the third act") and "E mi dica... non è vero che l'Imperatore ha proibito il balletto nelle sue opere?"

BUTTT, if you want to use the "Voi', they should sound like "mi avete detto che..." and "E ditemi..."

SORRY SORRY SORRY for all of this, I ADORE Amadeus, I ADORE Shaffer as a playwriter, but I've felt the need to specify the correct grammatical structure 😅😅😅🥲🥲🥲Just like "ombri del futuro" is wrong, as it should be "OMBRE", feminine.

I know I should be upset by what they're doing, but them pissing off Chamberlain by speaking Italian when he doesn't know it is really funny.
