Buckingham Palace is pleased to share the invitation for the Coronation, which will be issued in due course to over 2,000 guests who will form the congregation in Westminster Abbey. It is also announced today that eight Pages of Honour have been chosen to attend Their Majesties during the Coronation Service.
The invitation for the Coronation has been designed by Andrew Jamieson, a heraldic artist and manuscript illuminator whose work is inspired by the chivalric themes of Arthurian legend. Mr Jamieson is a Brother of the Art Workers’ Guild, of which The King is an Honorary Member.
The original artwork for the invitation was hand-painted in watercolour and gouache, and the design will be reproduced and printed on recycled card, with gold foil detailing. Central to the design is the motif of the Green Man, an ancient figure from British folklore, symbolic of spring and rebirth, to celebrate the new reign. The shape of the Green Man, crowned in natural foliage, is formed of leaves of oak, ivy and hawthorn, and the emblematic flowers of the United Kingdom.
The British wildflower meadow bordering the invitation features lily of the valley, cornflowers, wild strawberries, dog roses, bluebells, and a sprig of rosemary for remembrance, together with wildlife including a bee, a butterfly, a ladybird, a wren and a robin. Flowers appear in groupings of three, signifying The King becoming the third monarch of his name.
A lion, a unicorn and a boar – taken from the coats of arms of the Monarch and Her Majesty’s father, Major Bruce Shand – can be seen amongst the flowers. Her Majesty’s arms are now enclosed by the Garter, following her installation as a Royal Lady of the Order of the Garter last summer.

ANOTHER AU!? I know what you're saying... Gwen, you're nuts. But not only are you absolutely right, I think this one might be my most ambitious one yet. As a young nerd, there were two groups. The Marvel fans and the DC fans. And while the rivalry certainly has calmed down a bit, I was almost always torn. So, earlier in the week, I decided to do the one thing that every fanfic writer has tried at least once.
A Marvel/DC crossover.
But unlike the typical realm merger, to put it in Mortal Kombat terms, this is a universe where both properties coexist. For example, picture a group of people walking to a Big Belly Burger while listening to Just the Facts with J. Jonah Jameson. That's just a fraction. I have an ENTIRE starting cast as well.

Spunkies
Fairy lights in Scotland went by many names depending on the area. Some examples are: spunkies, will-o-the-wisp, pinkets, ignis faluus, and more. The word “spunkie” is thought to come from the word “Sponk.”
“SPUNK , SPUNKE , SPONK , s . 1. A spark fire , or small portion of ignited matter , S.”“
A very small fire is called a spunk of fire”
An Etymological Dictionary of the Scottish Language. Vol. 2 by Jamieson, J. (1841)
People still argue on where they come from; some describing them as the souls of some sort of dead, some say they are more fairy than ghost, while others simply dismiss them as the spontaneous ignition of marsh gasses.
(Title: Ignis fatuus / Th. Nast. Abstract/medium: 1 prints : wood engraving.)
Spunkies and Pinkets are the spirits of unbaptized children, but Willo’ the Wisp is often a usurer who has hidden gold, or an unjust man who has moved his neighbours’ boundary stones, or in some stories, a man who has been too clever for the Devil, and can get entry into neither Heaven nor Hell.’
The Fairies in Tradition and Literature by Katharine Mary Briggs (1967)
No matter what the origin, they typically hold the same role; leading people astray. In the forest, people typically describe thinking the lights are for a distant building and so heading towards it, while others seem to be curious or enraptured by the strange lights. If the person followed, they are lead somewhere to kill them, such as a swamp to drown in or a cliff to fall from.
“Willy and the Wisp, he is a fiery devil, and leads people off their road in order to drown them, for he sparks sometimes at our feet, and then runs before with his candle, as if he were two or three mile before us…”
Ancient and modern history of Buck-haven in Fife-shire by Merry Andrew at (1793)
On the ocean, they trick sailors into thinking they are heading towards a port, when instead it is a random shoreline.
“…many a good boat has Spunkie drowned; the boats coming to land in the night-time, they obsere a light off the land, and set upon it and are drown’t.”
Ancient and modern history of Buck-haven in Fife-shire by Merry Andrew at (1793)
So essentially, what it comes down to is that it does not matter their origin, just do not follow them.
(The Child sees the Will o’ the Wisps. (1913))
That Bards are second-sighted is nae joke,
And ken the lingo of the sp’ritual folk;
Fays, Spunkies, Kelpies, a’, they can explain them,
And even the very deils they brawly ken them
“The Brigs Of Ayr” Inscribed to John Ballantine, Esq., Ayr.

UK and Canada Launch Aqualunar Challenge
The Aqualunar Challenge
Pioneering Lunar Water Purification
The UK Space Agency, in collaboration with the Canadian Space Agency, has launched the ambitious Aqualunar Challenge. This £1.2 million international prize aims to foster the development of water-purifying technologies for the Moon, a crucial step towards sustainable human habitation on the lunar surface.
This groundbreaking challenge is part of the UK's commitment to space innovation and lunar sustainability. It focuses on purifying water buried beneath the Moon’s surface, a vital resource for long-term missions and habitation.
UK-Canada Space Collaboration
The Aqualunar Challenge, funded by the UK Space Agency’s International Bilateral Fund and delivered by Challenge Works,
embodies the spirit of international collaboration in space exploration. It draws on the strengths and expertise of both the UK and Canada to address one of the most pressing challenges in lunar exploration.
Public Perception and Support
Recent research shows that 62% of people in the UK believe technologies designed for space exploration should also have applications on Earth. There is a growing recognition that innovations in space technology can provide solutions to environmental challenges faced here on our planet.
The research, conducted by Opinium, found a strong public desire to see lunar water purification technologies adapted for use on Earth. These include removing microplastics from oceans and providing clean drinking water in low-income and drought-prone areas.
Government and Agency Perspectives
Space’s Insights
Andrew Griffith MP, Minister for Space, emphasized the UK's role in developing innovative technologies and the importance of the Aqualunar Challenge in unlocking commercial opportunities in space exploration.
Paul Bate, CEO of the UK Space Agency, highlighted the historical success of space technologies in finding new applications on Earth. The agency's involvement in NASA-led Artemis Missions is a testament to its commitment to sustainable lunar exploration.
Holly Jamieson’s Call to Innovators
Holly Jamieson, Executive Director of Challenge Works, encouraged innovators, start-ups, scientists, and engineers to participate in the Aqualunar Challenge. This initiative is about finding efficient, reliable ways to purify lunar water, essential for sustainable life on the Moon.
The UK’s Commitment to Responsible Lunar Exploration
As a signatory of the Artemis Accords, the UK advocates for responsible use of lunar resources and minimal impact on the lunar environment. The public strongly supports this approach, with 78% believing in the responsible use of the Moon's resources.
The Aqualunar Challenge Details
How to Enter and Prizes
The challenge seeks entries that can effectively remove contaminants and purify lunar surface water. In June 2024, ten UK-led teams will receive seed funding of £30k each. By March 2025, the top three teams
will share an additional £300k to further develop their solutions. This financial support is crucial for turning innovative ideas into practical technologies for lunar exploration and beyond.
Encouraging International Teamwork
While entries must be UK-led, the Aqualunar Challenge strongly encourages international collaboration within teams. This approach aims to maximize the diversity of ideas and expertise, fostering global partnerships in space technology development.
Entry Deadline and Information
The deadline for entries is 8 April 2024. Interested parties can find more information and submit their entries at the Aqualunar Challenge's official website: aqualunarchallenge.org.uk.
Challenge Works and the UK Space Agency are working in collaboration with the Canadian Space Agency (CSA) and Impact Canada, to deliver the Aqualunar Challenge with half the prize total being awarded to UK-led teams, and half being awarded to Canadian-led teams.
Canadian-led teams can apply here.
Conclusion
The Aqualunar Challenge is more than a competition; it's a call to action for innovators worldwide to contribute to the advancement of space exploration. By focusing on lunar water purification, this challenge not only supports the goal of sustainable lunar habitation but also has the potential to benefit environmental efforts here on Earth.
The UK's collaboration with Canada in this venture highlights a shared vision for the future of space exploration and its positive impact on our planet.

I wasn't invited to the coronation, but I dig what the royal graphic designer did here on the invites. Extra points for including the cool vegetation deity (he's like some cabbage god with thistles) and all the amazing wildflowers. Printed on recycled paper no less.
BBC: "Reflecting the King's many years of environmental campaigning, the artwork for the coronation invitation uses the folklore figure of the "green man", with features made from ivy, hawthorn and oak leaves.
According to Buckingham Palace it is a symbol of spring and rebirth which celebrates a new reign.
The design by illustrator Andrew Jamieson also includes images of the natural world, including wildflowers, birds and insects, as well as national and heraldic emblems."

The title of Erik J. Brown’s debut novel, “All That’s Left In The World,” alone was enough for me to take the risk and place the book in my Amazon shopping cart. I didn’t know what to expect from the novel, as I was ordering a variety of gay-centric books from the web to satisfy my craving for a new hobby outside of doing word searches. After completing two books before diving into this one, I had my expectations set high. After reading about the trials and tribulations of two sets of high school sweethearts, Tim and Ben in “Something Like Summer”, and David and Connor in “Kamikaze Boys'', both acclaimed novels by Jay Bell, I was anticipating similar deep connections I acquired through reading the other novels. After completing ATLITW, I was gifted with so much more. In Erik’s J Brown debut survival gay romance novel, All That’s Left In The World is a well-written, powerful, emotionally-moving novel that anyone of any sexuality should read, with its powerful themes, heart-warming interactions, and its power to keep you wanting more.
All That’s Left In The World is a post-apocalyptic novel that takes place in a world where 86% of the earth’s population has been wiped out by a superflu, reminiscent of the real life tragedy that we have come to know as Covid. Erik J. Brown wrote this book about the national lockdown that covid caused the world, so a good deal of this book and its plot is written to reflect those same circumstances. This book tackles the idea of What If, what if our world shared the identical fate of the world written through the book, a wasteland that used to be booming with life and familiarity, before it came to a halt, and eventually crumbled down. Empty cities and towns, decrepit highways, decaying local and national monuments, and ransacked abandoned grocery stores are settings that are common in this book, further immersing you in the imagery. This idea is expanded upon through the lives of Jamieson and Andrew, the sole survivors of their respective families who first meet when Andrew stumbles upon Jamieson’s cabin in dire need of medical help and a friend after getting his leg caught in a beartrap. Their journey begins at the cabin, where they spend weeks getting to know each other, and discussing how their lives had been before the outbreak took everything they ever knew. After falling victim to robbery from a local gang, their adventure truly begins as they travel up and down the tri-state area, in search of survivors, answers to past traumas, and any form of comfort or familiarity in a world that is so different from the one they were used to. Another running theme that is heavily promoted in the book is the development of the relationship between Jamieson and Andrew, who over the course of time, find comfort in each other, resulting in a satisfying and emotionally-fulfilling slow burn that pulls at your heartstrings as they learn to not only care for each other, but to protect and love one another in a way that triumphs over any obstacle that they face.
One of this novel’s greatest strengths is the writing. The author really is a master of the pen when it comes to utilizing the reader’s sensory system. The background of this world had so much to work with, and the author really did not fail to fill the text with descriptive imagery, thus making the journey that Andrew and Jamieson take feels so much more real when you can imagine yourself in it. When the text gestures to the extreme weather conditions of the east coast, you can feel the heat as if you were walking along with them. You can totally relate to the characters when they need to take a breather after walking for 50 miles, you can understand the almost euphoric feeling of drinking fresh water after walking for days before finally feeling the character’s relief of finding somewhere safe to sleep when darkness began to cover the sky as night arrived. There are certain events that take place in the book that will have you craving to find out what happens, my mind going to the shocked revelation after a no-good local gang raid through Jamie’s cabin. I simply could not put the book down, my nerves rattling through my body as I read the emotions of both main characters, but then the relief settled in when they came on the other side stronger and more resilient than they were in the previous chapter. The writing through this novel is an english professor’s wet dream, and I have to say, it was justifiable.
Another aspect of this book that I thoroughly enjoyed was the start, progression and peak of the romance between Jamieson and Andrew. The trauma of their own respective experiences wore on them like a hoodie, and over the course of the book, you grow to appreciate and love them, as a team and on their own. When Jamieson speaks of his life before the superflu, reminiscing on the memories any normal 16 year old would have, hearing him struggle through the retelling of his mom and her responsibility as a medical professional and as a frontline worker to even those last few moments with his mother, you can recognize why Jamieson is a bit more reserved and cautious of his surroundings. Andrew’s character takes charge on providing the comic relief. An avid pop-culture fanatic, one of my favorite running gags of his is his ability to perfectly relay the synopsis of a range of different movies, Miss Congeniality being one of the movies. On the contrary, Andrew is a bit more sensitive, a bit more emotional. He opens up and discusses his family life, his life consisting of his mother and his younger sister, both who were unfortunately taken by the superflu. By the midpoint of the novel, Jamieson and Andrew have begun a nameless situationship, neither one having the balls to admit their unsaid commitment for each other.
Despite this, both boys understood one another, and they both acknowledged that even though their initial reason for meeting was far from romantic, they could comfort each other in ways that nobody else could. Whether it be when Andrew would disregard himself and check in with Jamieson and his well being, the way he selflessly tended to him when he thought he needed him. To Jamieson willing to take the initiative of protecting Andrew at any given moment from anything in their path, even if it resulted in a traumatic experience that ended with him acquiring severe and debilitating PTSD. Even when they know the risks, They’re truly there for each other. The little moments where they teach each other, depend and comfort each other, along with the sexual and romantic tension all lead up to the culmination of their relationship. I was a bit skeptical of the slow burn of their relationship, but in the end, I was overwhelmingly satisfied and thankful that their story went at a slower pace, as it kept the reader on their toes and kept the window open for other elements of the story to take center stage.
Completing Erik J. Brown’s Novel, “All That’s Left In the World” was a bittersweet moment. I was truly immersed into the story for the week or two I spent reading this book. There were times where I stayed up until 3am in the morning trying to finish a chapter, knowing that I would not be able to fall asleep peacefully with a cliffhanger! As a writer myself, this is the type of story and writing I aspire to, and I am thankful that this book has such a high re-read value, I could read this book over and over again! The ball was hit out of the park, and I HIGHLY suggest buying this book and setting aside time to really get invested. I would give this book a perfect 10/10!
Rating: 20/20
1. Story/Plot 5/5
2. Characters/Character Development 5/5
3. Writing 5/5
4. Length/Pacing 5/5
Would I re-read this book? YES.

Brewer Gets 18 Months and Bartlett Six Months for Gerrard St. Crime
----
John Brewer and Allan Bartlett, who were found guilty a week ago of holding up H. B. Collins in his Gerrard St. E. drug-store on October 7, appeared today for sentence before Judge Emerson Coatsworth in men’s court.
‘This is a very serious offence,’ said Judge Coatsworth as he sentenced Brewer to 18 months definite and 18 months indeterminate in the Ontario Reformatory.
Bartlett, 17, already on parole, was sentenced to six months definite and 12 months indeterminate for his part in the armed robbery.
Not in the Same Class
‘These men are not in the same class,’ said his honor. ‘Brewer was the instigator of the crime, but Bartlett was on parole.’
Character references were supplied by several people for both of the accused. Defence counsel said that Brewer had a wife and three small children.
‘This is the first scrape he has been in. He is truly a victim of the time. I ask that your honor give him his freedom on suspended sentence,’ said counsel. ‘His gun wasn’t loaded, your honor; he only used it for intimidation purposes. He offered no resistance when arrested and offered to take the whole responsibility, even though his accomplice had a record.’
‘I know all that,’ said Crown Attorney Malone. ‘He has a good record outside of this armed robbery.’
But Judge Coatsworth said there was no excuse for such a serious offence. Last week he said: ‘These men are liable to imprisonment for life.’
Carried Revolver
The two men entered Collin’s drug store and Brewer carried a revolver. Collins was told to hand over his money and he gave them $21. While the robbers were backing to the door, Collins called the police on the telephone. A speed car was on the location in a few minutes.
Frank Knuggs, a citizen, saw the robbers running from the store to their car. He took the license number and reported it to the police. A chase of 45 miles an hour ensued, and the fleeing car was brought to a halt when its tires were punctured by a police shotgun.
In his evidence Bartlett said that he did not know a robbery was to be committed. ‘Brewer told me he wanted to get a bottle of medicine,’ he said.
Brewer said he had no intention of committing a robbery when he entered the store. ‘The I pulled my gun on the spur of the moment,’ said Brewer. ‘I had been having a lot of financial worries.’
The police and citizens who took part in the arrest were highly commended by Judge Coatsworth for their efficiency.

After much laughter over the ‘tale of two bunnies’ the case was dismissed.
‘Swore He’d Kill Me’
‘He had an axe over his shoulder and he swore he’d kill me dead,’ said George Titus, who is familiar to many as a one-armed violin-player who frequents Toronto streets, as he accused John Irwine of threatening. Titus said accused took his violin from him.
‘That was a mean thing to do,’ said Crown Attorney Malone.
Irvine then took the witness stand and from a paper parcel produced a long, curved iron bar.
‘Titus said he’d brain me with this,’ said Irwine, as he brandished the deadly-looking weapon aloft.
‘Please put that down before you hurt someone,’ cried Walter Breckles, court recorder.
The trouble arose when Titus was leaving Irwine’s house. Irwine claimed Titus owed him money. Accused was bound over to keep the peace for one year.
James Henderson was fined $10 or 10 days for assaulting John Dickson. Crown Attorney Malone was very indignant when accused admitted having rudely pushed a 70-year-old woman in his anxiety to get at Dickson.
