Roier: How beautiful! Melissa? Goddamn, [you guys] give Melissa so such boobs and ass–
Roier: Guys, why wasn't I born as Melissa? So cool and badass– Guys, why there isn't a button to change skins? Imagine just pressing a button and then– [he makes a "fwsh" sound and clicks his tongue] I transform. Just imagine it. imagine.

I say this with peace and love, but no one ever has to justify why they like or created something in fandom spaces. Creatives do not owe anything to anyone, except their own self-indulgence which we are privileged to witness.
They are especially not obligated to follow any interpretation but their own because this is fandom.
If you do not like it, you say thank you for sharing and move the fuck on. You will never ever be valid in offering 'helpful' criticism, or any other non-encouraging comment unless prompted.

First of four ref sheets for this blog's AU "Cipher's Fragments"
Tumblr media
Here's Bill Cipher's ref sheet, including both younger and older form to match Stanford Pines' age throughout the AU. I like to call his skin details "deer freckles". He has gold littered around both of his designs!!
Next up is Stanford Pines
When all ref sheets are complete I will create a pinned message with all of them together to have easy access on info/refs.

I didn't even consider bonnie not actually having a best friend with that post. My best friend gave me bad definitions when we were kids bc she thought it was hilarious, and she's still one of my closest friends in adulthood
Per my last ask, I thought the joke was that the adults didn't get little kids humor/pranks
it definitely could not mean anything bad! trolling your friends is a time-honored tradition. but there's a lot of things like that that can be fun, but can also get taken too far, or be done too unevenly.
i feel like with "gullible" in specific it's easy to imagine like. "oh bonnie. you are SO gullible." "what's that mean?" "oh ^^ super cool and awesome" "yay!" <- it is now established that not only is bonnie the most gullible person in the friend group, you can also get away with calling them that, which makes it doubly fun to tease them this way!
and it's not like malicious, nor did it even notably bother bonnie at the time - they still consider the person who told them this their best friend! but maybe if bonnie had a true best friend who prioritized them over the rest of the group, that person would've told bonnie the actual meaning at some point, yknow?
and ofc it still could have been a perfectly fine thing, with bonnie getting their friend back just as often! you can't know from just these two lines.
but as i said, i think everyone in this party grew up some level of lonely/alienated. and the rest of them are old enough now to have looked back at some of their own youthful experiences and gone "ah. i think they were actually making fun of me." so these particular people - despite enjoying a bit of familial teasing and trolling and mean joking themselves - heard this particular story and went. hm. well. i'm not going to say anything. but i am going to take note of this as a potential issue.

okay but you're totally on the money, fandom's obsession with OTT jealous eddie comes from the exactly same racist place as the hyper-sexed and super-experienced latin lover (who wants nothing for himself other than to coddle buck, naturally) thing that also shows up all the damn time in fic, when buck is canonically the one who (a) has slept with a ton of people* and (b) pulls irrational nonsense when he feels like his place in people's lives is threatened.
like, i love them both and eddie is certainly not without his flaws, but fandom at large displays approximately zero interest in engaging with most of the flaws he actually displays in canon, because those don't feed the fantasy as well, apparently
* (not to judge, nothing wrong with ethical slut behavior, but of the two of them, eddie is not the promiscuous one)

I am obsessed with how narratively convenient Lark's divinatory abilities are. She's the only one of the protagonists who is both pragmatic and has a working sense of self-preservation, so having some internal impulse that is actually the guiding hand of the cosmos pushing her into doing the REALLY stupid shit is both necessary and really useful.
Like, I am the type of writer who kind of scoffs at the idea that characters are beyond the writer's control and will completely screw over your outline, because on one hand, a sensible outline will follow the characters' personalities and tendencies anyway. Obviously in an ensemble cast you will need to do some wrangling, but in theory your characters are responding to varying degrees of stimuli in order to maneuver them into the places you need them to be for things to all come together in the end.
But more importantly, "curse from god" is the funniest and easiest way to push any character to do things beyond the realm of reason when necessary, and frankly, what the fuck is the point of playing god if you don't embrace that?
