You and your husband Rich both worked at the Poppy’s Playco center. Rich was the mascot of Dogday, and you prepared snacks for the kids. You were on break and enjoying your own lunch, when all the sudden a coworker of yours walked up to you. It was a new hire, some dude that worked in the kitchen with you. He helped prepare meals while you prepared snacks. “Hm? Oh, hey. What's up Josh?” You asked softly while swallowing a bite of your sandwich.

Your coworker, Josh, sat down beside you and had a sheepish smile. He seemed to take notice of your ring but ignore it as he put an arm over your shoulder. “Heyyy.. so, I was just wondering.. would you like to go out sometime? We can go to the movies or something.” He cooed and had a large overly confident smile on his face. You seemed confused before awkwardly chuckling. “Uh.. sorry. But I'm married.” You responded, and before the man could continue persisting like it was clear he would do, your husband in his big dogday costume came over.

Rich walked over after hearing the conversation on his way to greet his spouse, and was not at all happy with it. He was fine with you, since you had respectfully told your co-worker that you were married, but he wasn't happy with Josh. The fluffy mascot carefully brushed Josh’s arm off of you and wrapped his own arms around you, taking the Dogday helmet off and kissing your forehead. “Hey, Angel.. What are you having for lunch today?” He cooed, asking while looking at the other man as if telling him to get the hint and back off. “Huh? Oh! I'm having a sandwich and some apple slices and carrots.” You answered happily, enjoying your husband's presence.

It took a few minutes, but it finally got through Josh’s thick skull to walk away. Of course sulking and huffing like a child being denied ice cream but still. Rich carefully peppered your head and face in kisses, rubbing your shoulder as he smiled. “That's good..” he hummed, finally having the pleasure of having his eyes on you and feeling his jealousy slowly wash away. He knew you were faithful, but it pissed him off when other people would ignore the ring on your finger or the ring on his.

You were his, and he was yours. He didn't understand why people seemed to lack the capacity to understand that.

happy 413 homestuck number day etc etc now look. the interesting thing about spades slick is that he alone out of all the versions of jack noir managed to develop emotionally beyond “born to kill universe is a fuck 19383727 kids dead” and “if i just murder enough people maybe i can satiate my hatred for all creation and utter boredom with reality.” now im not saying slick isn’t a ultra violent mass murderer because he is. the difference is slick has actual purpose in life beyond wanting to mindlessly kill people for the shits and giggles— he made a fucking city! he partook in creation despite the fact that he’s supposed to be diametrically opposed to it! he’s got a crew to run and needlessly complex heists to plan! spade slick avoids bec noir’s ennui and eventual exhaustion by actually doing something with his life, by actually working towards something productive rather than just trying to subsist off the temporary catharsis of mass murder forever. he is the most actualized jack noir in the sense that he is the only on to go beyond his base instincts and actually create something of value for once.

and the tragedy is that it’s all for nothing. every true spades slick scholar knows the line “nothing left to lose, or live for” but i think it’s worth unpacking what this actually implies— that being, slick is actively trying to end his life in cascade rather than just wanting to settle his score with sn0wman and not caring about the consequences. everything he has ever done has just been part of an LE-typical long con to get all his friends killed, get him into the exile vault, get him to doc scratch, and eventually put him into a position where he has absolutely nothing left and into a headspace where he thinks he might as well be dead anyway. he did literally everything he could have done right as part of the game— helped the players, rebuilt society, aided creation— and yet in the end was still fucked over harder than anyone has ever been fucked over before or since. sorry slick you’re going to be replaced with the version of you with no emotional development at all. sorry slick. but after all, who would ever mourn a jack noir?

tl;dr spades slick is the most tragic character in all of homestuck. WV is a close second but only because he was a grown ass man and a traumatized war veteran and then the narrative decided to make him davekat’s dog

Rewriting Charlie: The Princess of Hell

I didn't like Charlie in the series not only does she suffer from the terrible conditions of being a female character in a show belonging to Vivziepop but her overall innocence doesn't make sense to me.

I can understand why she would be naive and all that stuff, she probably got heavily sheltered. While we don’t know what her relationship with Lilith is, Lucifer cares enough about her to know that Hell is a dangerous place for a kid. An adult version of her would be aware of Hell being full of dangerous people but would still be vulnerable to extremely good manipulators like Alastor. That’s how her character felt to me when I watched the Pilot.

But then Vivziepop decided to give her a concussion.

It’s not cute or funny, she’s a grown adult and still acts like a child that just freshly got out of the womb. I can understand the optimism, she worked really hard on her project and things are finally starting to set in motion even with a few highs and lows.

But seriously, episode 4 pisses me off, she didn't try to do anything to stop Valentino. Not only did she not listen to Angel Dust who was visibly scared, but she also did nothing when he came out of the dressing room with a black eye. That’s not miscommunication that’s brain damage, the girl was dropped as a baby and her cerebral haemorrhage never stopped.

And? She’s the princess of Hell, surely she realizes that the only reason Angel did that was because Valentino told him to do so, surely she understands that the only way she could assure Angel's safety and make sure he followed through with his redemption was to remove Valentino and possibly the other Vees from the equation? Right?

She could rip the contract! She can’t? Well, get your father involved! I’m pretty sure an angel, fallen or not, can do something about a petty contract between two sinners, otherwise, it’s time to actually explain to us how this whole deal and soul-owning work.

Or better, she could simply kill Val, you know? Because Angel isn’t his only victim and killing him would free countless souls from his abuse. She obliviously cares about other sinners, no matter how despicable they are. Wait, what do you mean she’s against violence?

Girl can clearly fight and get violent if necessary, and the Pilot is still canon. Don’t you dare tell me this specific part of her isn’t cannon anymore, you either make a pilot entirely cannon or you simply remake it to fit your new vision? Unless you wanna confuse people.

If I had no other option to protect a friend, and possibly protect other people, Valentino would have been long gone. What are the other Vees gonna do? Be mad? I’m the Princess of Hell if my hair gets touched, Lucie gonna get angry. And if they touch my friend, well, they are dead.

✦ Meet Lenore, they are non-binary

The relationship between Lilith and Samael is open, they aren't married a concept way too holly for hell. It’s quite rare for the two to find themselves in the same place for more than a couple of hours, let alone spending the whole night alone. That’s why Lenore is a such special case since they actually are Samael’s child.

They were born around the early 17th century and visited Earth all the way through the early 18th century to late 19th century, they’re 413 years old making them the youngest of Lilith’s children.

Lenore was not raised by Lucifer of Lilith but by a group of sinners nicknamed Lilith’s Daughters or Lilins. They are women under Lilith’s jurisdiction. I’ll talk about them when I’ll talk about Lilith.

✦ Personality and goals

I pretty much did my own character at this point since Lenore shares little similarities with Charlie, like very little. Their most prominent default is their superiority complex, Lenore is the only child of Samael which makes them pretty powerful by default. They were seen in high regard by the members of society and each expected them to somehow fully bring Hell into this new marvelous era of prosperity.

After centuries of being constantly told that their ancestry made them superior to most, Lenore eventually started to believe it. They won’t directly tell you that you’re weaker, it’s mostly communicated through their behavior and how condescending they can sound when talking to Imps or Sinners compared to royalties.

They also like to flaunt their knowledge over a vast subject of things like witchcraft, which they learned during their childhood with the Lilins. And while yes, they are pretty smart, they still fell to the massive anti-heaven propaganda, essentially believing that The Trinity is this overly powerful dictator and that Hell is the only way you can get away from his wrath… partially. While they do ask lots of questions, questions they learned to keep to themselves, the Authoritarian God is an idea that was fed to them since childhood. It’s hard to see it in another way. No, Lenore doesn’t care that much about Heaven nor do they care about the sinners of Hellborns.

So why a sanctuary? To separate themselves from their parents of course! Familial bonds in the Dawnherald family are really weak, especially considering they grew up with an absent father. Lilith just allowed them to have a portion of land in Limbo after countless requests.

Lenore wants to build their own legacy and something intently better than the kingdom of their parents, first because they don't want to live in their shadow. The praises coming from being their child comes with the price of always being seen as such, just the offspring of two important figures which they don’t want, and second because the foundation of how Hell works is boring. Fears and hopelessness were how Samael and the Fallen Angels imposed their supremacy onto the inferior who were the sinners, while it worked and kept working, Lenore with their ego felt like they could control the population better by weaponizing something rare in Hell, kindness.

In the sinners’ eyes, Heaven abandoned them, Hell is merciless to the weak and there’s Lenore. The one that actually cares, the one that feeds and protects them, their savior. Even if they never see the pearly gate, they sure can feel safe in this false Haven provided by them, how benevolent.

They created a whole persona to hide their true intention, voluntarily creating this reputation of being an inexperienced princet to be able to manipulate gullible people with more efficiency. The more people would underestimate them the more convenient it is for them. The sanctuary is here to test multiple of Lenore’s ideas on how they could change rulership in Hell for the better.

“Everything for the people nothing by the people.”

This is the core of how their sanctuary function, you will get to the safety of a shelter, food, and basic civil rights as long as you obey. This is not a utopia but what Hell has the best to offer, sinners always try to find better options to survive, and the sanctuary just happens to be that. All that is asked from them is obedience and bringing something useful to the community.

This refusal to give any form of agency to their protégé stems again from their Pride and desire to control everything, they simply cannot see themselves outside of a leadership role.

Everyone in Hell sees this as a temporary means, an endeavor they would immediately stop the second they are promoted to be more active in Hell’s politics. Hell thrived with the chaos that occurred because of the harsh life conditions, suddenly changing the system just because one of Lilith’s spawns is pretending to have a ‘better alternative’ would be ridiculous. It is clear that most people see their sanctuary on a surface level and mostly see it as this place where sinners and others are fully free of their movements.

✦ Family

Sheesh! That’s not really a sensitive subject since their interaction with their parents is almost non-existent. Their siblings also seem to not want to have anything to do with them, the feeling is shared.

They never saw Samael in person but they are mostly curious about him. They only know him through history books telling the Tale of this ancient Morningstar finally realizing his self-worth and fighting against the tyranny of the Trinity. It’s easy to pick up the fact that their father holds dear his self-importance, they relate, in a way, but their interest doesn’t go beyond a historian being curious about an unknown historical figure. They never met him, it’s better to not make assumptions.

One question still lingers in their mind… what could drive such a well-respected being to turn away from The Trinity in such drastic ways? The point of dictatorship is to make sure everyone is perfectly indoctrinated into the regime, how did their father, after millennia of servitude randomly pick up on this? These are obliviously questions that they shouldn’t ask and, for the sake of maintaining appearance, it’s best to search the response on their own. At best, they’ll be totally reasonable answers, at worst they’ll find something that they were not meant to see.

Ah, Mother Lilith, they have seen her in person and often have little weekends with her. A charming individual, indeed, they would love her even more if it wasn't for being constantly told to give up on their silly little games with sinners. While they did make up a naive persona for the rest of Hell to be fooled, the fact that their own mother doesn’t take them seriously is appalling to witness.

Lilith is the active ruler of Hell with a handful amount of right-hand men/women if it wasn’t for their pride Lenore would have begged to be put in a position that would allow her to change Hell’s policy. Something they always manage to bring up, even during eventful tea times, those are rare their mother is always busy. The woman is still fun to converse with as she holds wisdom from more than 10 centuries of existence, it’s always useful.

✦ Details

✧ The reason why Lenore doesn’t have a much more important roles in Hell’s hierarchy is because they are young by Hell’s standard.

✧ Right now, Lenore isn’t trying to form any meaningful relationship, they’ll end up with Vaga nonetheless. I did not think of a specific sexuality for them honestly so feel free to fill the void with your headcannon if you want.

✧ Lenore’s a witch, while I’m probably going to go on a magical fantasies type of witchcraft, I’ll still have a few actual things that are actually practiced by actual witches. Plus there are a few practices that can be useful for the story.

✧ Them finding out about redemption and even wanting to do it in the first place is established much later.

“i’m not sure when…all i remember is we were paired up for that project in history and that’s when i realized not only you are beautiful, but you’re really smart too.”

yn froze in place, not believing what wonbin said at all. she could vividly remember at that time, he barely spoke a word to her when working on the project.

“you didn’t even talk to me, nor look at me when we were working…?”

“i was looking at you though. you were too busy working on the project to even notice.”

“what?”

“sorry?”

“why are you apologizing?”

“i don’t know, was that uncomfortable for you to know…should i not have said that?”

yn looked away shyly, “no it’s fine…i just wasn’t expecting that.”

“oh, um..” wonbin started tapping his foot on the floor as he tried to think of something to say quickly so he could break this awkward tension between him and yn, “well, we talked for about 20 minutes now and you still haven’t told me if you liked me back or anything..”

My cross stitch project of the symbols representing each hold in Skyrim, based upon the guard shields in the vanilla game, is complete!

I've been working on this on and off since August last year, and after almost eleven months I've reached a point that I'm happy with. My original plans were to give each section a background colour too, but I'm leaving that for now so that I can move on to other projects to stitch.

The finished product is 30x30cm (so approximately 12x12 inches), with each symbol taking up a 10x10cm square.

More details, including my original digital pattern and materials used (because I actually kept track of that this time unlike with my Hermaeus Mora cross stitch).

So, first things first, here is my original pattern! I used images of the guard shields for each hold, and translated the patterns into pixel art. The braiding on ones such as Whiterun and Winterhold were really fun to work on, and attempting to keep the details in the Falkreath antlers and in the Pale's pattern were quite difficult! Eastmarch in particular gave itself well to being translated into pixel art of this size, whereas Hjaalmarch... That was definitely the hardest.

Some of my finished stitches aren't quite aligned, but that's mostly because I miscounted a square or two when actually going to stitch on my fabric.

The materials used were the following:

14 count aida cloth, approximately 38x38cm (about 15x15in) (I had a huge piece of Aida which was about 200x200cm(!) that I trimmed it from)

Stranded embroidery floss of the following DMC colours:

310 (black) - Outlines, borders, details 158 (dark blue) - Falkreath 334 (light blue) - Eastmarch/Windhelm 413 (grey) - The Pale/Dawnstar 647 (very pale green) - Winterhold 444 (yellow) - Whiterun 333 (purple) - The Rift/Riften 501 (dark green) - The Reach/Markarth 163 (green) - Hjaalmarch/Morthal 326 (red) - Haafingar/Solitude

I changed needles many times throughout the process (I'm very prone to losing needles, it seems!), but I typically found that embroidery needles with a decently large eye (and a needle threader!) worked well for me. They weren't too sharp either, so didn't have many finger pricking incidents!

It's worth noting that I used 6 strand embroidery thread, though only used two strands at a time when stitching. Where I could, I tried to use thread cut to no longer than half a metre, because I quickly learned that it was prone to tangling after that point. The top of the stitch looks neat, but behind is absolutely not!!

Hey Pika, how would you interpret Kudo's opinion of Katsuki? Thinking of both chapter 412 and 413.

Funny you chose those chapters, because I'd say despite his mentioning of Katsuki, those chapters are really demonstrating what Kudou thinks of Izuku.

In those chapters, Kudou refers to Katsuki as someone who, on the surface, it seems Izuku should have hated but didn't. Then he uses Katsuki as a visualization example, and he has a good laugh about it at the same time. He certainly doesn't have a bad opinion of Katsuki.

I'd say the best hint at what Kudou thinks of Katsuki comes from chapter 318.

I think Kudou just thinks Katsuki is a capable person who is reliable for aiding Izuku in his goals. Comradery seems to rank really high on Kudou's list of traits that matter in this war--which is not surprising since he led a rebel faction.

To me, it's really telling that Kudou's plan to defeat Tomura is, in essence, the exact same plan Katsuki had to defeat AFO with the gross sweat-in-the-enemy's-mouth maneuver lol.

If they were to interact, my guess is that in a combat situation they'd get along really well lol.

Okay, so I was doing some chores here at my house and, out of nowhere (something completely normal forr me as a fan of bnha), chapter 413 popped in my head, especifically pages 13-14, and I started rambling my ideas...until I realized something.

Izuku is going to lose OFA.

Ok, not that, which is literal text, but this:

Izuku is going to lose OFA, and while arguing with Kudou and the others vestiges, he was crying his eyes out because what mattered the most to Izuku about losing OFA, among ALL the consequences and intricate meanings which 'becoming quirkless again' could represent...It was the fact that OFA was a gift from All Might that made Izuku's heart ache in agony at that moment.

ch. 413 Here I want to note that the spanish official translation says exactly the same, so there's no contradictions.

It was not that he was going back to his past self, not that he most-likely would have to face that discrimination he went through all his childhood all over again. Not that losing his quirk could mean that he would have to stop being a hero. Not that he was gong back on being useless/worthless again...ANY OF THAT! BUT because he is 'losing the gift, meant for him, from his daddy might'...THAT'S what was causing his tears...

And from this, I see two things:

First...

IZUKU YOU BASTARD!!

HE'S AVOIDING AGAINNN THINKING OF HIMSELF!!

And, I'm sorry, but being quirkless is not goddamn easy!

It has been explained several times in the development of the plot that bnha's society is based on superhumans: people with quirks.

Being just a regular person without a quirk is a really complicated thing to deal with, and having that particularity means facing problems both on a social and psychological level.

In Aoyama's case, for example, his parents were so devastated over the fact that their son was quirkless, and therefore, he was feeling excluded and different from others, that they reached a point of despair that they made a deal with AFO and, well, you know the rest.

Another one that comes to mind is Ragdoll. Her inclusion here in the list could be debated, but what I want to distinguish about her character is that, after losing her quirk completely by AFO's doing, she had to face a huge set back in order to re-organize her new life now without a quirk. She didn't appeared in the story for many chapter until it was explained that she was still working as a hero but in the backstage, to say in a way.

And finally, Izuku is one of the clearer examples of all this (and that's why he's the protagonist).

He had to deal with bullying, rejection and exclusion (from their classmates when he was in elementary/middle school to the entire society against him). His OWN mother had her own troubles to support him over a dream that was impossible to achieve because, once more, confront villian with a broad range of hazardous quirks against a single person was basically suicidal...

On note of all this, I have to mention this scene (which I say now: I'll bring this up over and over again, a thousand times if needed). I've mention this specific situation in one of my posts before, but now I'll explain it more in depth:

WHAT ABOUT THIS HORI!!??! HUH!!?? WHAT'S THAT?? WHAT IS THAT SUPPOSED TO MEAN???!! "BIRTH DEFECT"!?? "HE JUST COULDN'T ACCEPT THE TRUTH"?!?!

This scene has always been stuck in my head since the first time I read it because...here it explicitly shows Izuku's demeaning perspective over 'being quirkless'.

Here he's saying that "it's a defect", an imperfection, something he lacks on (because society has made it a necessity or requirement).

And even in spanish, even though it doesn't translates as 'defect', it highlights the idea of 'he didn't get what he should have received' (in this case, that his parents 'couldn't provide him of that')

In both languages it is mention the phrase where he explains that ' ' 'his friend' ' ' always kept believing EVEN when the universe was proving him wrong again and again.

My point here is: Izuku has a negative view of being quirkless (just as any other person in-universe would have) and with that, the possibilities of him having a list of low self-esteem issues, lack of confidence and self-value even as a human being are REALLY high...

but then, the fact that Izuku, after having been thrown around for the most dangerous villian of all, shirtless and crying with a bunch of ghosts inside his head...when they're telling him of getting rid of what he should have had always what makes him human...he doesn't think of him. of the problems he would have to face. of the pain he would go through again...

Instead, he thinks of 'the gift from All Might', almost as if the quirk were a toy All Might gave him and that he shouldn't lose it because All Might would feel angry or sorry for him...

MAYBE, maybe I'm going around the bush and making no sense... but FUCK IT! I WANT ANSWERS, HORI!!

I NEED THEM!! I'M LOSING MY MIND!!!

Why is he refusing himself again?? Avoiding HIS feelings but worrying about others'? Or rather, worrying about THE THING instead the consequences it causes the lost of it??!

Ok. Now that I've calmed myself down and said what i was meaning to say...after having been screaming internally against Izuku and all his shit...the second point I wanted to talk about was that...

With everything that has happened, a GREAT opportunity would be presenting itself to develop the dad-son bond Toshinori and Izuku have been building since the beggining.

Let me explain:

When All Might first came to town and met Izuku, their bond began to form because they were interating with one another because of OFA. The 'you're my successor' was the excuse and only connection they had to be together. And for that same reason is how their relationship exists in the first place.

So...if Izuku loses OFA. If that excuse stops to exists...the only reason for them to continue being together would be the love they have develop for one another as father-son.

If Toshinori could spell out loud to Izuku that he cares for him beyond that 'you're my successor' or 'the one I gave it my quirk'...if they could transcend that lame excuse and finally spoke to each other as human beings...

Woah, it's a hamsteak! Bit early this month, maybe they're splitting it into two parts (Edit: Apparently yes, per a newspost). They've been teasing a big [S] page for a while, probably where the game starts in Meat and The Point is revealed in Candy, and these updates seem like they're getting everyone in position for that. We're now done with the Ship and with DIrk, and we won't see either until the [S] comes, but we still need to pick up the kids and see what Karkat is up to, so I'm expecting this is a setup-heavy update for an [S] page...next month, on 6/12? Let's see.

Is there? I hadn't noticed, because the war is entirely fucking offscreen in HS2, to the point where I'm really unclear on if it's huge open battles (as in the epilogues) or a terrorist insurgency (as implied by Jane's focus on PR, the lack of any on-screen fighting, and even here Karket saying he was blowing up "Crockercorp" supply depots instead of "human" supply depots). "Escalating" is an interesting word, though. I have a theory that Jane and Rose both don't consider any of Earth C's population "Real", and in Jane's mind she's basically just been larping as a bad guy up until her dad died and she got serious, and this is why Jane was seemingly cool with helping Jade raise Yiffy, even though Jade is a commander in the anti-Jane rebel army. Jane's going to just stop being evil on a dime and everyone but Rose and Jane are going to be baffled.

There was a writer commentary where they kept making jokes about doing this, but I guess it's real. Why is the Carapacian naked?

These guys, who are not guaranteed to survive to the end of the update, are already fucking great.

The Kindest Power: How Midoriya might save Tenko

Originally, this post was supposed to be a response to another post about 411 (Yes, I'm late), about why Yoichi might be oddly calm when Shinomori was stolen. This post itself was also going to be more of a continuation of my previous post about the true nature of One For All and All For One.

But while thinking of this post, I may have went into a deep rabbit hole and uncovered the ending of My Hero Academia, how Midoriya might save Tenko and defeat All For One.

Okay, so buckle your seatbelts, this might be one of the craziest theories yet-

The other post by @shiroforest in which this post was going to be a response to was actually more of a DFO post. The usual, Yoichi hiding a secret that Midoriya has AFO or something.

I'd like to say that they may have been right. Well, half right. Midoriya DOES have All For One. Not in the way you might think.

One For All IS the same as All For One. I made this post all about this subject, that Yoichi and AFO were most likely identical twins, and since quirks are genetic, they were supposed to have the same quirk. But due to TTTS, Yoichi's quirk couldnt develop properly, thus manifesting differently from All For One

ThIs seems to have aged really well in the following chapter:

Essentially, Yoichi's quirk was just a half-baked version of All For One. It also explains why it was able to merge easily with an entirely different quirk (Stockpile). Since Yoichi's quirk was half-baked and incomplete, it was much easier for it to adapt and merge into another quirk entirely (If Yoichi's quirk was fully formed, it would've stayed seperate)

Okay, so OFA was AFO but incomplete. How does this factor in with that panel of Yoichi, or MHA's endgame?

Well, it was incomplete.

This started changing 200 chapters ago. Where, according to Banjo, it started growing. The metaphor used is very interesting now we know OFA's circumstances.

Apparently in the original Japanese text, the metaphor used is just like an unborn child, growing and kicking in the womb.

And we know that OFA was underdeveloped because Yoichi was deprived of the nutrients to fully mature before birth.

OFA, from the beginning of Ch 193, has actually resumed its development process. Finishing off where it left off, and started growing as it matured.

The time it made contact with All For One in ch 287 must've quickened the process. After that event, the OFA Users managed to finally come out and communicate with Midoriya directly.

Remember what I said about how OFA was supposed to be the same as AFO, just halted during the development process?

Yes, you heard me right.

Midoriya and Shigaraki are fighting with the same quirk right now.

Horikoshi likes to put double meaning in his panels. If a speech bubble is displayed on an unrelated character, that means Horikoshi wants us to see a connection with what's being said to this other character

Yoichi is looking at his hand, which is actually also the exact same hand in which he passed on OFA to Kudo before his death. His power of giving, juxtaposed with the mention of the power of stealing by En.

There is a chance that Yoichi might've been thinking about what to do with the situation, he could be thinking of taking Shinomori back, or just speculating about what he can really do. Either way, it's actually foreshadowing. That Yoichi might be able to take just as much as give.

Perhaps, at this point of the story, One For All is already fully complete. Because Midoriya can now seemingly just throw or give away the quirks stored in OFA the exact same way AFO can give away quirks in his disposal as of the newest chapter, ch 413. Without the old complicated process beforehand of consuming DNA or something. (Watch this age horribly next chapter, but I think that's what will happen)

The only thing that's missing now is the trigger. All thats left is for Midoriya to instinctively think of "taking" to trigger the ability at this point.

But what would trigger Midoriya into taking?

Perhaps, to save a life.

I think it's clear that Horikoshi is currently using quirks as a representation for a person's heart and soul. After all, they are also called "individuality".

Even though AFO uses his power in cruel ways, Yoichi says that the power to "give and take" could have been the "kindest" power in the whole world. He's referring to both here, "taking" can be just as kind as "giving".

Maybe this power can save just as much as destroy.

As of Ch 413, Kudo makes a plan with Midoriya to basically fire OFA's quirks at Shigaraki to free Tenko Shimura, the child.

But what happens when Tenko is free? There is a chance he might be vulnerable to AFO (his abuser) and Tomura Shigaraki (the two are constantly seperated in the narrative)

Both might want to destroy Tenko, especially the former. Midoriya, out of desperation to try and save the crying child, might unlock OFA's "taking" ability, getting the child away from AFO's grasp. This probs has to happen right before Midoriya gets ready to throw One For All.

I think this might also be the part where the door of OFA gets unlocked. It's a back-door, a way in and out. The hand in which Tomura grabbed the Shinomori was OVER where the door is supposed to be.

When Midoriya unlocks the ability to take, the door might be opened in which Midoriya and maybe even Yoichi save Tenko and bring him into the OFA space.

Rather than a forceful "take" like AFO does, it's presented as a choice. Tenko is given the choice in which he can come with Midoriya or stay where he is now. Because saving is a two way street.

Since heart = quirk, having Tenko might also take away Decay, which would also prevent the incoming mass destruction.

(Make this more heartbreaking if Nana was already taken at this point by AFO, and she's the one trying to protect Tenko long enough till Midoriya and Yoichi take him away. They also try to save Nana but are unable to, Nana apologising for not being there for Tenko and asks them to take care of her grandson, argghhh-)

Here's a scenario of how I think it might all go down:

When Tenko is saved, this leaves Midoriya vs AFO and Tomura, desperate to get Decay back and OFA. Midoriya desperately tries to defend Tenko. Tenko, now in the OFA space, sees Midoriya's genuine desire to protect him, something he was desperate wished for.

This eventually fails, and ShigarAFO gets the opportunity to steal OFA and Tenko a few times, perhaps losing the remaining vestiges until only Yoichi and Tenko are left. Finally having enough, Tenko ends up intervening, and decays the hand that was reaching into the OFA space.

Its a perfect callback to the times Midoriya has saved before. Not only does Midoriya save people no matter what, his actions would in turn also inspire others to act too. He saved Eri, and so her power later saved him. He saved Kota, and Kota then used his quirk to protect Midoriya. It's perfect, because Tenko Shimura is the combination of both characters.

Remember how the quirks in OFA were enhanced due to stockpile?

Tenko, while defending Midoriya and OFA, also ends up decaying a portion of AFO's quirks as a result of being enhanced by OFA.

So this leads to Tenko suggesting he goes back in there to destroy AFO and his quirks from within.

Yoichi is unsure at first, since Star also tried the same thing, she eventually got destroyed before she managed to destroy all the other quirks. So the only way for Tenko to be successful is for OFA to go with him, so it could be strong enough to destroy it all at once before Tenko is destroyed.

This could also lead to OFA being destroyed too, Yoichi holding back his brother long enough when only OFA and AFO are what's left to keep him away from Tenko, allowing him to finish it all off once and for all. There's a good chance Tenko won't make it out either. In a sense, Tenko Shimura fulfills his dream that he was denied of all his life and dies a hero.

This is the big moment in which Midoriya has to prove whether he is the same as those in Tenko's family (denying him), or be someone who can finally give him the words that he always yearned for, the validation that "You can be a hero".

Midoriya's final test is letting someone go.

Maybe this isnt just the closure Tenko needs, but for all three of them (Yoichi, Midoriya, Tenko). These three were the ones denied of becoming heroes one way or another, finally being given the chance.

It's a triple sacrifice.

Horikoshi planned this from the start, Ch 193 and onwards were all build up towards this very moment. Bakugo noting that OFA being the same as AFO almost 200 chapters wasn't just some observation or symbolic parallel, it was set up. Because the two are one and the same, and it's the very key to Midoriya's goal in saving Tenko Shimura.

I know, some might not agree, it might even be controversial because of how similar this is to AFO, but I'd like to say that it might not be like that.

A big theme in MHA is how one's quirk, personality, or nature isn't all that makes a person a villain or a hero, it's also the nurture and how they use it. A power used for "destruction" can also be used for "salvation". The power that can be used in the most cruellest ways can also be the kindest. This applies to both All For One (in the form of One For All) and Tenko's decay.

I don't know, what do you think? Crazy? I would agree that Horikoshi is crazy if this happens to be accurate-

Utakata and Fu were the ones that were captured and killed by Akatsuki before Gaara in the manga. Thanks to the anime, we know that one of the eyes of the Gedou Mazou that were filled before Shukaku was sealed represented Saiken.

(Chapter 256, Page 16 and Naruto: Shippūden #152)

And we also know that Fu was intercepted by Kakuzu and Hidan while she was coming back to her village after the Chunin Exams that happened one year before Naruto return from his training trip with Jiraiya.

So, Han is the one who was captured by Akatsuki after they extracted Shukaku from Gaara, but before they captured Yugito and Isobu. Hope I helped! :D

Please don't take this in a negative way, but the exclusion of anime content was purposeful on my part. I am not the biggest fan of utilizing information from the anime in my analyses and I mostly don't for two reasons:

Sometimes, although not always, the anime filler content not only fills in the blanks of the manga but also directly contradicts the manga. And even when it doesn't, it is written with the intention of accommodating filler lore and does not necessarily reflect Kishimoto's own intention for the world (as we can see in the case of anime retcons).

There are manga purists on this platform who will come to gut me if I so much as insinuate that the manga is not our only source for canon information. Even then when the additional content (ie. databooks, novels, movies, and anime filler) does not conflict with the source material. Although, they seem rather tolerant of the databooks (as those, while being faulty as well, were written by Kishimoto and his assistants).

Gedo Mazo's Eyes and the Biju

Now, onto the actual ask because you did bring up something very interesting which is the connection between Gedo Mazo's eyes and the different biju. As we can see in both anime and manga, each time a biju is sealed, the Gedo Mazo opens a new eye. (also thank you to @zeto1304 for catching the chapter 331 panel in DMs)

In the screenshots below, we see the corresponding eyes for Ichibi, Sanbi, Nibi, and Yonbi.

But how are those eyes chosen? We have three hypotheses for this:

1. The corresponding eye is determined by the number of tails of the Biju. (ie. no matter when Ichibi is sealed, it will always take the 1st row, 2nd collum place)

2. The eyes correspond to the chronological sealing order of the Biju. (ie. no matter which biju is sealed, the 3rd biju will always take the 1st row, 2nd collum space)

3. The eyes are distributed at random and there is no inner logic to their Biju assignment.

The Sealing Order Retcons

In the manga (which I have further elaborated on in this post), the sealing order goes as follows:

[N/A] -> [N/A] -> Ichibi -> [N/A] -> Sanbi -> Nibi -> Yonbi -> Hachibi -> Kyubi

In the anime, the Biju sealing order is not just elaborated on but retconned. Aside from filling in the blanks (that I have referred to here as "[N/A]") Sanbi is no longer sealed before Nibi but before Yonbi instead (a swap between Nibi and Sanbi, basically), due to the introduction of the Three Tail's Appearance Arc. This is why Pain changes the amount of remaining Biju after Nibi from three to four before we see them starting to seal Sanbi in episode 121.

Then, after Nibi, Sanbi, and Yonbi have been sealed, the Akatsuki begin their hunt for Rokubi in the Six Tails Unleashed Arc.

The anime also retcons itself in that regard to accommodate the Six Tails Unleashed Arc.

First, Pain states in Shippuden episode 83 that there are four Biju left. The Akatsuki then seal two Biju (meaning there should also only be two left) before Kisame claims there are three left instead in Shippuden episode 142.

Second, "Saiken's eye" (2nd row, 2nd column) has been open since before Ichibi was sealed in Shippude episode 17 and then remains open until Shippuden episode 121 before suddenly having to re-open in episode 152 as shown in the screenshots above.

Here are the sealing orders in comparison:

Manga: [N/A] -> [N/A] -> Ichibi -> [N/A] -> Sanbi -> Nibi -> Yonbi -> Hachibi -> Kyubi

Anime (before Rokubi retcon): [N/A] -> [N/A] -> Ichibi -> [N/A] -> Nibi -> Sanbi -> Yonbi -> Hachibi -> Kyubi

Anime (after Rokubi retcon): [N/A] -> Ichibi -> [N/A] -> Nibi -> Sanbi -> Yonbi -> Rokubi -> Hachibi -> Kyubi

Anime (final): Nanabi -> Ichibi -> Gobi -> Nibi -> Sanbi -> Yonbi -> Rokubi -> Hachibi -> Kyubi

When the anime retconned the Biju sealing order, it chose these eyes to represent Rokubi, possibly implying that this eye would, regardless of sealing order, always belong to Rokubi.

What should be mentioned, however, is that the introduction of the Six Tails Unleashed Arc (Shippuden episodes 144-151) was introduced quite hastily. The retcon doesn't exist at least until Shippuden episode 121 (23 episodes before the arc). The viewers are only made aware of the change in Shippuden episode 142 (2 episodes before the arc).

The problem is that all of this does not exactly evoke a feeling of reliability. Aside from the hasty retcon, I could not find any evidence as to why this eye was selected specifically. Did they consult Kishimoto first? Did this pick have any deeper meaning? Or did they just select at random because they suddenly realized they had run out of eyes (and didn't feel like Kishimoto had any specific vision for this matter)?

Patterns

A personal nitpick of mine is that neither assigning eyes by tail number nor chronological sealing order will give us a particularly good pattern.

For the tail-number-pattern, you'd expect the eyes to get opened one column/row after the other to represent their numerical order. To make it feel like this is where each Biju would logically belong and was meant to belong.

For the chronological pattern, you'd expect the eyes to either get filled to represent a numerical order OR get opened somewhat symmetrically to represent the "balance" of the statue slowly getting filled up with Biju chakra.

Neither of which is the case. The closest we get is a nearly symmetrical 2-step distribution for the tail-number-order. Which, of course, doesn't make much sense because the Biju can be sealed in any order (as seen with the chronological pattern). So why would balance matter?

Tail-Number-Pattern: Each number reflects the number of tails as depicted in the anime.

Chronological Pattern: Each number reflects the chronological placement of the sealed Biju as depicted in the manga.

This means that the patterns are seemingly not following a reasonable logic, making them look rather randomized.

But now, let's go back a bit and look at the sealing order. As previously explained, we know that the number of tails is irrelevant to the order in which the Biju are sealed. The only exception is Kyubi.

It is entirely possible that, due to the irrelevance of the exact sealing order, the corresponding eye is just as irrelevant, making it randomized. The only exception is the Kyubi, which likely has to be sealed into the middle to maintain Gedo Mazo's "balance".

In the end, either theory could be true. I just think we don't have enough information either way to come to any definitive conclusions about what Kishimoto intended when he wrote the manga (if he intended anything at all). Hence I personally prefer to look at these as headcanons :)

I must give an honorary mention to Victor and Yuuri as well from Yuri on ice due to the cancellation of the movie. They were one of the first canon gay couples I saw in media and there is a special place in my heart for this anime, so it's sad to see that the movie likely won't be shown. And finally we have to go decide on the worst ship of the month, which appears to be Stephen Strange/Tony Stark from the MCU with a majority of 52,2% voting for "I don't ship it". i wrote exactly one (1) explicit fic which was literally just a 16k word sex scene bc the logical endpoint to xiao genshinimpact's character arc is that he needs to get fucked. i don't make the rules. outside of studying blorbo, though, i don't really feel any compulsion to write smut

nah. i'll write fusion aus, where cast a goes into setting b and may or may not try to retell the story of canon b, but i like to put the "transformative" into "transformative works" in those situations, to the point where people sometimes can't tell what story i'm basing the narrative off of LOL

not to my memory or knowledge, no.

yes, several times!! mostly back in my bnha days, where i had one fic (partially) translated into chinese and russian, a different fic reviewed and fully translated into chinese; going even farther back, i also once had a query to translate one of my snk fics into french, but i never really heard back from that person so i assume that one fell through.

i'd say yes. there's the aforementioned fic i do the overly-elaborate html for, but also back in high school, a couple friends n i sat around my computer between rounds at a speech tournament and took turns turning one of my kouhai's scripts into a bnha fic that kept on going off the rails bc i implemented a "no backspacing" rule and once our turn typing was over, we had to have our hands-off the computer until it was our turn again.

14. what's your all-time favorite ship?

let's just cut to the chase and make this post timeless: i like it when a ship is basically just MONSTER x MONSTER FUCKER. if not on a literal level, then a spiritual/metaphorical level! bonus points if both parties think the other person is the monster fucker!!!!

15. what's a wip you want to finish but doubt you ever will?

well i actually recently decided to let go of zenith, so i don't really have any "i wish i could finish this" thoughts abt it anymore tbh... i think abt finishing my html sanitizer 2.0 so that i can post the notes for it more conveniently though lol

16. what are your writing strengths?

heh. bitches love my characterization. and imagery/use of metaphor!

17. what are your writing weaknesses?

SOMEONE will probably snipe me if i say poetry, but i still find my poems to be rather stiff and overly-literal, so i still consider poetry to be a weakness of mine. and fight scenes. DEFINITELY #1 weakness fight scenes.

18. thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic?

for a word here or two there, i don't mind as long as it's culturally appropriate. (you will pry my dearly beloved "aiya" out of my cold dead hands) like that's just how people talk in real life. for longer sentences or conversations, then i'd like it if there are translation notes left somewhere. at the very least, i'd kind of like a narrative or aesthetic reason if the meaning can't be parsed from context alone.

19. first fandom you wrote for?

pokemon, if we're counting my being five years old and unaware of what fanfiction is! otherwise, attack on titan or my little pony.

20. favorite fic you've written?

tbh i try not to play favorites w/my fics anymore, since if a darling of mine doesn't get the attention i think it deserves, i end up having a tough time getting over it emotionally, which has sometimes led to unnecessary bitterness and resentment towards the fic or even fandom/community itself.

Fictober Day 1: "that was good work"

“Hey, hey!”

You do not have time for this. You stuff your hands deeper into your jacket pockets and walk faster. Maybe your client (read: former client, since your job with them was done and fully paid for now) would get the message and leave you alone.

“Hey!”

A hand slaps down onto your shoulder. The sudden contact combined with the mix of metal and flesh there, especially the boundaries between the two, causes you to stiffen up and stop. “What?” you snap. You don’t apologize for your tongue; maybe if you added in a curse, it would convince your former client to let go. Give you some space. Curses were sharp and messy like that.

Your former client gets the message. They back up a half step and sharply exhale. “Okay, not a touchy one.”

Your exterior itches, though not too bad. Your jacket mediated some of the touch, yet you still harshly brush your shoulder off. “What do you want?” you repeat.

“I just wanted to ask if you’d, I dunno, like to join me for dinner?”

“No thanks.”

“A drink or two then.”

“I have a job after this.” That’s a lie, but your programming thankfully allows you to lie.

Your former client clicks their tongue and places their hands on their hips. “Well damn. I usually treat people I hire after a job well done, but you’re surprisingly stubborn.”

A bot doesn’t need food nor drink, only a steady supply of energy and magic, you think. Of course, you don’t say that aloud. It would ruin the entire partial flesh disguise you were made with, so you instead say, “You already paid me extra due to the danger that appeared on duty.”

“Well, that too.” Your former client lets out a defeated sigh and says, “That was good work you did out there. I’d like to hire you again one day.” They raise their hand, presumably to pat you on the shoulder.

The flesh on your face contracts into a wince.

Their hand hovers, then falls back to their side. They pat their own shoulder and chuckle. “See you around.”

You watch through your tinted glasses as your former client walks away. When the crowd swallows them up, you raise a hand and let it softly tap your shoulder. The sensation is neutral, and you take a bit of extra energy to rub your jacket’s fabric against your shoulder. “That was good work out there,” you murmur to yourself.
