Hi Jonny! What are your thoughts on people making original characters to fit into the tma/tmp universe?
As someone who has spent the last 27 years of his life playing tabletop RPGs, it goes without saying that the idea of creating your own characters to play with in a fictional world you didn't entirely create yourself disgusts and repulses me. How dare you enjoy putting your own ideas in conversation with the things I've written! What absolute nerve to think any character you create is worthy to exist in your mind at the same time as my work!
Yeah, mate, it's obviously fine and doesn't affect me at all. My thoughts on it are I have no thoughts knock yourself out.

Okay consider Bruce Wayne is the very well known bankroller for the Justice League. Batman is still part of the league, but they don’t know he’s Bruce Wayne. So, due to Bruce Wayne being such a well known figure and very obviously connected to the Justice League, that has kinda made him a target for certain people which means the Justice League has decided to assign one of their members to help keep him safe. Insert notorious billionaire fighter Superman becoming the part time bodyguard of Bruce Wayne in this epic superbat romance

I hope Arthur isn't lactose intolerant, because I know it's supposed to be serious, I want it to be serious, but every time I look at it I go "CHOESE" DO NOT blind people with melted cheese folks, or at least apolocheese later

Proshipper = you're against censorship and harassment over fiction & curate your experience on the internet to have a healthy distance from things that make you uncomfortable
Antishipper = you're okay and even encourage harassment towards "freaks" and "weirdos" society deems acceptable to hurt

of course you can read necros and cavs as a parallel to the gender binary bc A) you can do whatever you want forever and B) yeah there's plenty of textual evidence comparing the necro-cav bond to a marriage. however one thing i think many of these discussions keep missing is the fact that most people in the nine houses are not necros or cavs and do in fact exist outside of this binary. which would make it. not really much of a binary

i think that some of you guys really do forget that fanfic writing is subjective to the user. 'logan wouldnt date fat girls—' what, did the fictional man crawl through the fucking screen and tell you that himself? did you have a prophetic vision? are you now the messiah of logan fics? i don't care what the hell he did in canon or what he called fred, let the bigger girls have something. not to mention that self indulgent fanfic writing or selfshipping or whatever-you-wanna-call-it is exactly what it is... self indulgent.
itd be different if it was something morally grey or inherently wrong but we're talking about... a body type here. even if this man looked directly at the camera in a movie and went 'i don't date fat women or plus sized women' it still wouldnt matter if people wanted to write logan x plussized!reader. do you know why? because he is fictional. you all need to live your truth and stop letting theoretical lines hold you back. like ho you just mad i ratioed your weirdo ass to high heaven

Tale of two Stans never fails to make me sad. What do you mean these two overly dependent assholes both end up at the worst lowest points of their lives at the same exact moment? What the fuck!? How was it that of everything in their lives to coincide it's them being at their lowest that meet.
What do you mean their childhoods never gave them a chance to be individuals and so all of their weaknesses and blind spots caught up with them in the end. What do you mean that without Ford, Stan was destined to get himself into trouble? What do you mean that without Stan, Ford was destined to get himself in trouble? What the fuck!
What do you fucking mean that they depended on one another because that's all they ever knew.
What do you mean Ford never bothered to learn to read when people wanted to use him cause he had Stan? What do you mean Stan never learned to think ahead because he had Ford?
I'm so haunted by the fact that Ford was able to mostly keep his life stable for a few years but in the end his inability to truly read and connect with people got to him. Why did filbrick make him think he was only good for one thing so he pushed himself too far in a way it was easy to take advantage of? What do you fucking mean his fatal flaw is he's convinced he's never good enough and thus is easy to manipulate?
I'm gutted by the fact that Stan was never doing well by any means but he was surviving against the odds and doing better than terrible. Until his tendency to push things, to prove himself, got him in too deep. Why did filbrick convince him he was good for nothing so he pushed himself to find something he was worth? What do you fucking mean his fatal flaw is he's convinced he's never good enough and thus he's always pushing himself to the edge at great risk to his own safety even?
What do you mean their flaws as people are reflected and can only make full sense with the context of the other. What do you mean!
filbrick Pines how the HELL did you fuck up your sons in a way so poetic and fucked up its beautifully tragic?

so, we know that abuse and victim responses to abuse are very central to aftg, but what i find interesting is how other characters respond to the victim’s reactions, especially when it comes to mourning their abuser. there’s something about kevin mourning riko, aaron mourning tilda, neil mourning mary, andrew mourning cass, thats so important to me because it really truly highlights how even when people are united through similar traumas, the differences in their situations makes it impossible to fully understand the relationship a person has to their abuser. neil, aaron, and andrew are united through the abuse, neglect, or - what the fuck is the word i’m thinking of? permit? condone? i mean, knowingly allowing it to happen and not intervening - stemming from a maternal figure. but neil can’t understand why andrew would hold on to cass for so long - he refused to let her go until aaron came into the picture. and andrew can’t understand why aaron would mourn for tilda, potentially viewing aaron’s grief as a betrayal of their promise. and they all ridicule kevin for his reactions to riko. of course, neil and andrew are also abused by riko, but they still can’t understand the complicated relationship between kevin and riko because, at the end of the day, they just weren’t there.
i mean this is primarily an observation but i really love how trauma and trauma response is depicted as nuanced, complex and overall just difficult to understand from an outsider perspective in the books. it reads as really real, and though it can be frustrating when a character doesn’t understand a different character’s response, you have to understand that their perception of said character’s response is warped by their own experience of abuse.
andrew bounced from home to home, never had stability, so obviously he held tight on to the first mother-figure that didn’t outright hurt him. his self-worth was probably low enough that he thought living with drake was a fine price to pay to keep cass.
neil only ever had his mother, and he’d willingly accept her harsh hands because he believed she was just keeping him safe from the very real dangers that were closing in on them.
aaron was dealing with an addiction, and so was his mother; he was equally dependent on her to avoid withdrawal as he was scared of her anger.
i don’t really have a point anymore but you get what i’m saying
